goodbye baby

well, today i was on the stevie nicks underground i think, and i saw a poll regarding what goodbye baby was about. the most popular response was stevie's abortion of don henley's child. i immediately listened to the song and i felt so so sad after looking at it through that lens. i had always regarded it as a lullaby type song. does anyone else agree with the abortion interpretation or is this just already well known and i'm in the dark?

I think that theory has been pretty widely circulated, esp. for The Tower demo, and the feeling is that Stevie added the current verses so people would think of it more as a song about a lover.

LOL - there ought to be a sep. section that lists the various theories about this song as this topic seemingly comes up every couple of weeks

Many think the demo "The Tower" is about the abortion, which they both admit.

However, many think "The Tower" is about the taking of secret Rhiannon's child and the sebsequent imprisonment of Rhiannon in a tower/prison type thing in the Rhiannon legends.

It very well could be about both. It also could very well be about something completely different given Stevie's obscure lyrics and/or lyrics that came have many different meanings like "the lonliness of a one night stand" which Stevie has said is about being lonely after performing in front of a large number of people - not the more obvious meaning of a sexual one night stand.
