Better tickets showing up???
I know someone (Who was a fan club member and is a lurker here) who pulled up 4th row tickets for the OKC yesterday and asked me if I knew anything about it.
Being somehat curious, I went over to tickets.com tried (For awhile the tickets.com website were showing no floor seats were available) and kept pulling up tickets within the first 18 rows of seats on the floor. I know sometimes people return tickets, cancel ther tickets, etc. , But it seems that some of the tickets are being "rolled out" now. Has anyone else checked on tickets lately for the shows in your respective city/venue to see if better seats are showing up? Brian J. |
Yep, Brian I scored 8th row center for the Cleveland show on Friday night. Now I just need to get rid of my sec 108 ticket.
I hope that I do as well for the first Worcester show. |
That's great...
Pattie, I'm sticking with my 17th row (FLR 5 Row A) seat since I know where it is located and how great of an advantage point it will be "IF" cameras are allowed.
Brian J. ps-I pulled up 10th row from the stage just a bit ago, But it was a FLR 3 which is on the west side of the floor seating...(FLR 5 is dead center) |
Brian,
I have been checking TM on and off and yes better seating seems to popping up here and there. Don't know what to attribute it to. |
I wonder...

The lurker/former fan-club member (Hey Tammy!!!) I mentioned earlier said she called tickets.com and they are going to release more seats very soon, That has me puzzled as to why tickets.com is NOW going to do that...And the only thing I could guess is that these seats are unsold "fan-club" seats or that the newer seats are ones that were not figured into the equation until the size of the stage setup was figured... Brian J. |
When is the OKC show? They don't usually release production holds until the last minute. They could be fan club seats that were unsold. Or, they really did hold the better seats back until the end.

I know I'm rehashing this again, but all I can say is how terribly disappointing all this is to me. I just bought Seattle tix through presale last week and ended up getting no better seats than I've ever got before without a fanclub or a presale (so this time almost $300 for two tix, plus $60 for fanclub-YIKES!!). I don't have that kind of $ to be frivolous with-I have to budget and save up for this. I've been to every FM or Stevie concert starting w/ Wild Heart Tour (except FM Time Tour), and have tried every possible angle to get great seats and they always allude me.
So just out of curiosity (or to torture myself) I checked online today about tix and could get two on the floor w/o the fanclub. An hour of trying through the fanclub presale and I could get nothing on the floor. I know some of the reasons why that can happen but I thought maybe somehow Karma would reward me for padding the retirement accts of FM members over the years (thousands of dollars on concerts/albums etc) w/ some good seats for once. So to add to my total concert expense this year I have bought binoculars for $100. $300 2 tix/ $60 fanclub/ $100 binoculars...that's $460 for me and my friend to have a "virtual good seat" concert experience. Good God-If only i had been taken by some other 70's rock heroes like Blue Oyster Cult that I can see playing at a local casino for $17 I would have a retirement acct of my own! |
Thanks...

HELLOOOOOOOOO! Is everybody still living in a dream world regarding this fan club? I didn't join because I heard about the Internet fan clubs selling the bad seats to club members and holding better seats for sale to the public later on. Am I the only one who realized the whole club thing was a flat out scam?
I can't believe all the people still complaining about this club and there are no big news stories like with the Dixie Chicks. The band can't be totally in the dark. They have to know something. Maybe they have no way to stop the fan club from doing whatever. If they sold the rights for $$$$$ they may have given up control of the club. Sad, but probably true. There is no excuse for misleading the public about ticket sales and about the way the Internet clubs do business. It is false advertising to imply that an online fan club will give you access to better tickets than the general public, or to say that you will get first chance to purchase before the general public without openly telling buyers, first come-best seats, is NOT the way it works. That's the worst part of it all. The clubs say you can purchase before the public. So what? Do they tell everyone paying for the club doesn't mean all seats are available and it doesn't mean you will get better seats than people who didn't pay to join the club? If they fail to reveal information about blocking off good seats in order to sell less desireable seats to fan club members, I'd say that is fraud. Looks to me like this is what happened with the FM fan club. Most of the seats fan club members got were sold before the majority of the front floor was opened up to the general public. The seats that are appearing now are NOT turn ins or "production holds". These are regular tickets that were held back on purpose so the crummy floor seats would sell first to people who'd buy them no matter what. Sorry for those of you who got taken. FM should at least apologize for letting this happen to people. |
i've been checking ticketmaster EVERYDAY for decent floor seats to continental arena in nj but i've had no luck...as a matter of fact, i'll pull up one ticket just to see if i have any luck that way and it's been giving me the same exact section/seat for the past month...it's very odd...i'm looking for 3 tix but i've been getting different sections for those...most of those have been in the upper levels. i've resorted to ebay and i've had better luck. the problem is, i want 3 tix and it's almost impossible to find someone that's selling 3...it's usually 1, 2 or 4...i may have to tell the third person that i couldn't find tix and just settle for the 2. so far, i'm watching 2 tix 13th row on lindsey's side...the price is $379 for the pair which is about the limit i'll pay...the show is in 3 weeks...i don't want to wait til days before in hopes that ticketmaster will open up some really great seats. i figure at this point i better take what i can get.

At this late date it might not be a bad idea to get what you can needing 3 and the fan club sale being long over for that venue. |
Ticketmaster...Ticketbastard my friends...
Well, seeing as Ticketmaster is basically the monopoly in entertainment ticket sales, there isn't much that we as the general public can do to change their nazi ways. With Ticketmaster, a certain amount of tickets is allotted to each service: online, telecharge, and fan club. Now, since companies and high-powered executives get first dibs on tickets, the tickets allocated to the general public and EVEN the fan club are limited as far as best seats go. Yes, I agree, there should have been some sort of disclaimer on this. As time goes on and as the concert grows closer, more tickets become available and often at times, they’re better seats than what were first sold due to the fact that some have passed up the tickets. I purchased my tickets to the Philadelphia show the day they went on sale at 10am. It took me 30 minutes to get through on the telephone and when she told me the best she could due was some ridiculous section in the middle of nowhere; I declined and decided to try my luck on the Internet. Tickets weren’t any better on there so I’m in section 110, 22 rows back. I have been periodically checking online at Ticketmaster to see what other seats become available. Two days ago, pit section 2 row 15 was available. This pissed me off. Pissed me off BIG TIME. When a concert is said to be SOLD OUT, it simply isn’t so. A friend of mine tried to get Phish tickets. The concert was supposedly SOLD OUT but he went over to the box office the day of the show before it began and ended up with pit seats. DO NOT be fooled when it says shows are SOLD OUT. Chances are, they aren’t. I have learned my lesson and quite honestly, it’s much better to either wait, or try your hand out at Ebay. I have purchased tickets on Ebay for the AC show and the DC show…pit seats for an incredibly reasonable price. As the show nears, people are more than willing to make deals with you on Ebay in order to get rid of their tickets. This often means a profit loss for them but some people have purchased more than one set of tickets so this means good things for us fans. I plan to go to the box office on show night in Philly and see if they can give me better seats in exchange for my tickets. I suggest on your show nights if your tickets suck ass, you should try and do the same. It could be worth it

Yep, just checked Ticketmaster for the Gund in Cleveland. 12th row dead center is now available. That just pisses me off!
I spent 48 hours online during the presale for nothing. I'm just keeping my tickets in row AA. Too late to mess around with it now. |
I keep checking ticketmaster also but am finding nothing "close" for the Columbus show. I did pull up floor 20th row but I will keep my ticket I purchased on the general sale (side but close) which I did better getting that day then the fiasco fanclub sale. Dont get me started on that one!
Tamara :wavey: 3 more days till the concert!!! WOOHOO |
Thanks for the heads up ~ I just got 10th row for OKC @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ woo hoo. I had a nose bleed ticket but I am selling that! Thanks again!

I cannot tell you how many times I have been through this aggravation with Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster claims it is not their fault because they claim certain promotors, radio stations, the artist, and/or other people have fist claim to a bunch of seats in the front part of the arena. From a business point of view, their explanation makes sense because why wouldn't they want to sell these most expensive tickets first if they are not going to be used for promotional purposes. But then my experience with this indicated that there must be something else going on because although a 12th row seat is really good for the "average concert attendee," it hardly qualifies as "radio promotion" worthy - those seats in my experience are usually first row or at least first five rows. The same can be said for tickets to the local radio DJ's/personalities. So who knows!!!!! All I know is it sucks!

Ticket-B*stard SUCKS!

Thanks to my good friends, we just scored 2nd row seats to the DC show today on ticketmaster.
You just gotta keep looking! |
it's nothing but a big racket..
to take more of the hard core fan's money..
i learned a few years back that most concerts at the MCI center here in D.C. have great tickets available the day of the show.. and I plan on marching down there on Friday morning and purchase mine.. and avoid the $16 ticketmaster service charge.. i went to tm online this morning and there were floor seats in section 3 available today for the mci show.. row Z. Too far back from the stage for me, at least at $148... i would have paid $75 for the seats.. i think they make better seats available as the concert draws near to get the hard core fans to maybe purchase another ticket.. entice them with better seats.. that way.. more seats are sold.. i also noticed that the cheapest tickets at MCI that were available were behind the stage. i'm surprised they are selling those seats.. but hey... i've been behind stage before and had a great time.. i may just end up back there.. i can enjoy looking at Lindsey's ass. :-) |

Well its two day before my concert so I checked once again on Ticketmaster. They have front section row 16 available. I hesitate on this as the last Mac I went to (10th row) I had some huge men in front of me and could not see much.
I did however get in touch with a broker to see what they had and they had 2 tickets for 2nd row center, which priced at $699. As much as I sighed and freaked over 2nd row, this is way too much money and besides I only need one. Oh well.. I will keep my section 121. :) Hope everyone gets up close and personal!! Tamara :wavey: Two more days till heaven...... |
Did anyone else pull up AMAZING tickets to the friday show in DC today???? I didn't have my tickets yet and pulled up SECOND ROW CENTER around 5 pm today. Thats section 2, row B. AMAZING. I can't believe that happened.....these must be the bands seats getting released....

Philly show:
Section 2, row 10 - dead center, front of stage. On ebay now for $379 for a pair. GRRRRR . . . . |

The reason this is most likely happening is that a certian block of good seats - up to 200-250 for an arena show - are held from general sale and reserved for guests, radio station winners etc. However, not all seats are used and the week of the show are often placed into general sale. It's not that they were trying to rip us off, just they weren't available until now. I think DC is nearly sold-out anyway.
|
If seats were alloted for radio stations and business or whatever they would not be coming up for sale, period! It makes no sense. Why is it so hard for people to believe that ticket sales for these overpriced shows are run in such a way that the higher priced less wanted seats are up for sale first while better seats are blocked off and held for sale until closer to the show date?
Doesn't it makes sense? Isn't eveyone snatching up these late releases while trying to dump seats they already bought? Even after the way the fan club sale failed to deliver, why are people so willing to believe anything else? Why didn't these seats get offered to the fan clubs before going to public sale? From what I've heard, a lot of people joined the fan club and said they didn't buy seats because they were only offered bad seats. Don't you think some of these people deserve to be offered these good seats after paying for a worthless membership? I didn't join because I knew I wouldn't be buying from the best pool of seats. I heard from people who work at various arenas that this kind of thing happens all the time and sometimes thousands of seats are held back until the less desired seats are sold. I saved the cost of the membership and got my pick of good seats. I always buy close to the show date and always get good seats even when the shows are said to be sold-out. None of the shows on this tour is a sell out so anyone can do better waiting for tickets until the week of the show. |
I hear ya, Miranda...I've been aware of the "selling down" thing and the promoters holding back tix until the last minute thing for a long time. Normally, I don't get "caught up in the hype," which is obviously what JT was counting on. I feel like an idiot for that, but at this point, I'm more pissed about all the OTHER fan club BS than anything else.
I agree that the fan club should have been working with Sticketbastard MUCH better than they have - and given fan club members a heads-up and first dibs on these newly released seats. Allowing us to "trade up" would have been the perfect solution for those burned in the fan club pre-sales. At this late stage, you'd have to pick up your tix at the will-call window. So why not let us turn in our first tix to be re-entered into the system and re-sold at the box office? Seems pretty fool-proof, as long as you have a valid receipt to distinguish "us" from scalpers. My receipt clearly says "Fanclub presale" on it. Yeah, hindsight really IS 20/20, isn't it? |

I'm still pulling up floor seats within the first "20" rows on floor sections FLR1-3 (I've pulled up 3rd row yesterday afternoon)...Plenty of good seats still available...lol...Brian J. |
No they wouldn't be coming up for general sale at all, if all of them were used. But if the promoters see that there will be 100 seats in prime locations throughout the room, they release them for general sale.
Plus it adds to the coffers of the show. The high-priced tickets are always the first priority because they drum up the most revenue for the show. This is the priority for both promoter and artist. If FM is getting $750K per show (which is what I've heard) they NEED to sell all those seats up close. If they are not being used - they have to be sold. It's illogical to purposely hold them until the end as there's the possibility they waited too long might not be sold in the first place. Trust me, this happens with nearly EVERY show, sold out or not. In high school, I twice got fifth, then third, row seats to see DMB in Boston - back when they were first getting hot. And I got them three days or so before the show after they had been "Sold Out" for weeks. |
I think if I go to a show at all I'll be getting my tickets that week from the box office or half price on EBAY. Either way, it looks like I can't possibly do worse than people who bought from the fan club.

Been there, done that.
Feel free to do the same if you haven't already. You may not hear anything from management but you'll get a real nice letter from the ATTY GENERAL of CA. He wants to hear from as many people as possible so he can add to the case file of a certain Internet businessman being investigated for ripping people off in some sort of an online fan club scam. |
better tickets still showing up?

WELL,
I ran into someone who bought their ticket at the box office at about 6PM the night of the first Worcester concert. You know what?? He got FRONT ROW near STEVIE!!! |
I was on TM last night and was pulling up 13th row for Tampa. I also pulled floor seats again for Birmingham.
|
I went above and beyond my budget for tickets, not only going to the first Worcester show but also the second show. Then I got a nice heads up from WelshWitchPMD(Thank you!!) about a better ticket on TM for the second night on the floor second row LB's side. I transferred my original ticket to my friend and his seat was left empty in nosebleed section.
So I basically ate a ticket. Now, here's what I am getting at....I bought my upgraded ticket a few days before the show and very friendly neighbors in the seats next to me had the same story of buying these Floor One Row Two seats a week before the show. So there is some food for thought, how this was possible could be that someone reserved these seats and didn't want them or Ticketmaster did not pull all seats up or the fanclub didn't have these seats for their club. I don't think we'll ever know exactly what it was. |
