re-arranging say you will
which order would you put the tracks if you could.
|
I posted this recently. Check out "How would you sequence the album?" and let me know your thoughts.:)
- Jake |
Not sure except I would not put Bleed to Love Her and Steal Your Heart Away together. They are too similar.
|
Switch the two songs @ the end.
|
ooops, didnt' see yours.
|
Don't sweat it at all --- it's far down now.
From what I posted, I think Lindsey & I would be butting heads in the studio anyway. - Jake |
I can totally see now after hearing the CD why Lindsey made that comment about Stevie seeing this CD through dark colors etc. She probably hated the running order...as do I, I think it flows very ineffectively and I find myself jumping around alot from track to track on this CD...This could also be one of the reasons critics are almost across the board very lukewarm on the CD. TISL had much more critical acclaim than SYW has had so far.
I also think the last 2 songs should be switched...Say Goodbye resonates better at the end.. |
SG at the end?
That would mean that Lindsey's songs would open and close the album, which I think would be a big issue for Stevie. Remember, last time LB produced a Mac album Stevie was upset that she wasn't on some of the songs & only a few of her own songs were even included. I think her old claim of being powerless in this band (true or untrue) has a lot to do with any of the recent fighting between them, particularly in the aftermath of the recent solo "comeback". I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to work out a compromise between them on how to sequence this album. - Jake |
I think the recent talk about the album arrangement and Stevie being upset by this probably has to do with the decision to take a double album and make it just one cd. It's just my opinion but I get the feeling that Say Goodbye was supposed to be the last song on one disk and Goodbye Baby the other. Which disk? I won't speculate. I also have a feeling that the songs were originally arranged more like Lindsey, Stevie, Lindsey, Stevie...with songs answering each other or talking about the similar topics...
it will be nice when the original track lists pop up somewhere :) ;) |
So what who opens and closes, Lindsey did it on the first album and last and Christine did it on Rumours and Mirage. They still have the same #.

I agree - so what! I'm pretty sure the main point of conflict was related to Murrow, Illume etc being at the front whereas Stevie would like that stuff towards the back. And perhaps also the fact that Lindsey opens with two in a row. |
Ok, I have heard the whole thing, a few times through...here's my second draft of "retracking"...first draft of the entire album...I'll probably come up with new running orders as I get even more familiar with the album. (Haven't found spots for "Illume" & "Silver Girl", yet...and, of course, don't expect to EVER see "Come" on the list)
WHAT'S THE WORLD COMING TO SAY YOU WILL BLEED TO LOVE HER THROWN DOWN (album version) MIRANDA EVERYBODY FINDS OUT RED ROVER SMILE AT YOU PEACEKEEPER DESTINY RULES MURROW TURNING OVER IN HIS GRAVE NOT MAKE BELIEVE STEAL YOUR HEART AWAY RUNNING THROUGH THE GARDEN LOVE MINUS ZERO/NO LIMIT GOODBYE BABY SAY GOODBYE *THROWN DOWN (big production version) *=bonus track & single B-side. |
Chili-I Like your running order so far...Much Improved, Now, If only they had consulted w/ your sequencing talents...they may have had a much better critically received opening week;) You just need to find a place for "Illume" while "Silver Girl" & "Come" should have been on the LE bonus CD.
I also was thinking they could start the CD w/ "Say You Will"...It has that same "Love in Store" opening feeling....and this way Stevie could open the record and Lindsey could close it w/ "Say Goodbye"..In any case..They really messed up on the running order of this CD and I dont know whos to blame (probably Lindsey)...or if its even worth it ,,,But I would of liked to see Stevies running order suggestion. |
My point with the opening & closing comment was that I doubt Stevie, who felt somewhat absent from the Tango album, would feel comfortable with her material being sandwiched inside the album, same # of songs or not. This goes along with Joe's comment that Lindsey had two in a row to open the album, which Stevie probably wouldn't have chosen. I'm not Stevie, just a listener, and I'd prefer the running order if their songs switched to back and forth between them - almost a "Point/Counterpoint" thing. (Stevie, you ignorant slut. LOL)
And if memory serves, Christine did not open or close Rumours, and Stevie's song closes the White FM Album. - Jake |

Ummm..no, "I'm So Afraid" closes the white album...and "Monday Morning" opens it...again, Lindsey has both the opener & closer. |
I was only repeating what I'd read that her feelings were. I had no idea that I'd be asked to defend her right to have them.
As far as the White album goes, I was obviously mistaken in thinking that Crystal closed. - Jake |
Stevie has no right to complain about TITN; she didn't do anything for it. If anything, she brought it down! Add to that that she didn't bother with it and "mailed in" her vocals. Thankfully Christine put her in her place and told her where to shove her opinions about how she wasn't on the album!

Christine's a ****.

When did Stevie mail in vocals for "Tango In the Night" and what does that have to do with the running order of "Say You Will"? As brilliant as I think the new album is, the fact remains that it has (IMO and a lot of people's apparently) the worst running order of any Fleeetwood Mac album. If Stevie was in disagreement on this then she was definetly right.
As far as "Tango" goes, Stevie was quoted as saying that after she was done recording vocals for "When I See You Again" WITH LINDSEY that she snuck in after him and deleted her vocal so that it was just him singing at the end of the song. Also, the story behind the reason Stevie was given credit for "co-writing" Sandy's "Seven Wonders" was that when she went into the studio WITH LINDSEY and changed alot of the wording in the song without being aware of it (apparently she didn't have the lyric sheet in front of her?). She wanted to go back and change the words to what was originally written, but Lindsey liked the vocal so much he wanted it left the way it was. Maybe she did have the vocals for "Welcome to the Room Sara" Fed exed" to the band though. Oh, and Cheers to you Phil. I getting tired of certain people blaming Stevie for every fight within the band, every performance that they feel is sub-standard, and every song that they don't care for. BRIAN |

LOL Cristian :p
I still maintain my theory that Phil is an embittered ex of Christine :D |
Here is the way I listen to the album...
When I first got the Say You Will CD, I listened to it about 13 times straight through to get a REAL listen to the album. Then I re-arranged the songs into this order which I find really does, in my opinion, seem better than the actual album order.
01. Murrow Turning Over In His Grave 02. Thrown Down 03. Steal Your Heart Away 04. Everybody Finds Out 05. Love Minus Zero/No Limit 06. Destiny Rules 07. Come 08. Illume (9/11) 09. What's The World Coming To 10. Silver Girl 11. Red Rover 12. Not Make Believe 13. Say Goodbye 14. Smile At You 15. Bleed To Love Her 16. Goodbye Baby 17. Peacekeeper 18. Running Through The Garden 19. Miranda 20. Say You Will You guys should try it.:) |
