Solid Gold Performances

Solid Gold was such a pivotal show in the 1980s for artists to promote their music. It was how we got to see people perform outside of videos even though most of it was lip syncing. Fleetwood Mac never appeared on the show but the song Tusk was performed by the USC marching and they showed the video. Here are some of Fleetwood Mac members Solid Gold performances.

That's Steve Ross! The Zoo also dressed in tuxes when they performed in 1983 on Rock Palace on NBC. They played TONIGHT and ANGEL COME HOME.

He seems to be miming the character he plays in the video—and/or he’s just cray cray…

He doesn't look pissed to me. It's the same face without the beard. Crazy, buzzed, and catching a fly while drumming.

Macfan4life 07-09-2024 11:19 AM

When I saw Mick's video in 1983 I thought it was him singing since he is lip syncing in the video. Rather strange video until a beautiful Stevie shows up. Their solo albums were released almost at the same time in 1983. I am sure I Want You Back and If Anyone Falls were filmed nearly back to back.
Mick looked freaky here.

My favorite Zoo TV performance was with Bekka in 1992

In late 1977, he went super-shaggy beard, like a deranged rabbi. Right after that — at some point in 1978 — he went completely clean-shaven (like Lindsey). But in 1979, he was back with his normal beard.

He’s obviously nuttier than Lindsey ever was.

Yes! Who could forget his awesome dance moves
He was hanging around Stevie in 1986 because he was flat broke and she had primo sh*t.

…also wanted to keep “Fleetwood” Mac relevant and top of mind during these solo releases.

He was in both. Watch the I Can't Wait video and you will see his slick dance moves.

Villavic 07-11-2024 08:46 AM

Oh yes he is there. I just remembered the guys in white and thought he wasn't one of them. It would have been very funny to see him try to follow that choreography

Read the damn book.

"I met with Stevie when she recorded her "I Can't Wait" video. We did copious amounts of coke and she was late for taping. She had no chorographer so we all wiggled like coked out zombies. The footage was played forwards and backwards and it made our cokey wiggles look so much better as if we had some sort of chorography planned. We were up all night for 3 days filming this video. It was fun but Stevie was in no shape to continue and had explodable diarrhea that sort of shut down the set for a few hours. I sat with her in her trailer until things were cleaned up and it was safe to return to the stage."

what. the. actual. fork......

Bet she was THRILLED for that little tidbit to get out.......

Not sure I've ever heard the term "explodable" diarrhea..... explosive, but not explodable. ROFL. Does doing coke nonstop for 3 days straight give diarrhea problems? I am sadly inexperienced in this arena. Is that what happens when you have your assistant blow it up your bum?

That must be the second book, that I haven't read. It's not mentioned in the first one.

was this quote for real?? i've never heard the term 'explodable' either.

Hurry hurry

"Explodable diarrhea"

Stevie wasn't speaking metaphorically when she said I Can't Wait.

DownOnRodeo 07-11-2024 10:11 PM

She wonders how many more hours
Her gut will feel bloated?
In secret she says she needs a cubicle
But no door is open!

Well, she dances around in a circle
Well, she's got that feeling now
Blame it on something she ate last night
Put the blame on me cause I’ve got no
No Pepto-Bismol

I can't wait, I can't wait
I'm just wasting my time with this coarse single ply!
I can't wait, I can't wait
And I've got to know when can I get off the can..

It was my little joke on Villavic and that damn book.

Villavic 07-12-2024 07:00 AM

If Joey Tribbiani can say supposably, Mick can say explodable.

soul_drifter333 07-12-2024 09:19 AM

 This was brought up before and a lot of people didn't believe it, but here is Red Stewart on TV actually saying he did it. I remember thinking of Stevie when I saw this who having the same problems with her nose.

yes
At least Rod was honest and grounded enough to know the cocaine was ruining his voice. Stevie could care less. Some of those RAL demos and some RAL performances were horrific that I cant understand how she could not hear herself. But I suppose when you live in a bubble and everyone feeds off you and tells you how wonderful you are that you cant see the truth.

Think of all the references you could annoy us with!

I've never read it, either. I was OBSESSED with the first one, and read it at least 30 times. I've owned the second one for YEARS, and have never made it past the first few pages.

I'd say this is because I ASSumed the first one was true. And now I know that he's a loser and a liar.

If I read it, I'd skip all the pages until 1990 or the new material, but I'm not interested any more; now I know the kind of person he is, I'd never pay for that book.

The second book is nothing like the first book. There are no revelations or juicy parts. Its a kiss and make up book to his ex wife Jenny, Bob Weston, Bob Welch, his kids, and so many other people he wronged in his life. There are no secrets or negative parts of the book. Its Mick praising all the people he s*it on his entire life. I tried to sell it on Ebay after reading it but I had no offers. There were so many details he could have talked about especially where his last book left off. But none were revealed. I suppose the book was some sort of therapy for him because of some guilt he may have had.

Christine’s mid 80s solo era style was questionable. She looked great during Mirage and she looked great during Tango, but her solo era in the mid 80s… her hair style was bad and those huge jackets with then towering shoulder pads… yikes. I know that was the style back then, but she looked so much better during Tango.

I agree. I got flamed here once for saying the same thing. But lets be real, they all looked weird in the mid 80s. Lindsey's high hair was a goof. Its almost like Chris was too cool already for the 80s but those big 80s pattern jackets were a miss. But would they not be on anyone? When I first saw the Got A Hold On Me Video, my first reaction was "Why did Chris let someone butcher her hair." She looked older and not as elegant from Mirage. I agree, she looks so much better in the late 80s during Tango and even 1990 for BTM.
Stevie's hair in the mid to late 80s was weird too. I hated that helmet head with straight side bangs. Those shoulder pads Stevie started to wear in 1987 and 1989 were ridiculous.
