Galveston, Texas- Anyone Visit There?
I've been looking up other potential areas to live in and have been checking out the beach town of Galveston, Texas. Are any of you all familiar with the area and whatnot? Looks like real estate is decently priced compared with many areas in Florida!!

I can give you a few reasons NOT to live there.
1) It's Texas 2) It's already been destroyed by a hurricane once, it'll happen again. 3) Did I mention, it's TEXAS??? |

Why dontcha live on Long Island? While the houses do tend to be expensive, the people are nuts on the roads, and there are some hard-to-pronounce Indian names for towns (such as Copiague and Ronkonkoma), it's a nice little place. And if you live in Suffolk County, you can visit me! |
What's wrong with Kentucky, Ethan?

And with that girl living in Kentucky, how can one go wrong? |
ethan, i think galveston is a good choice. of course, i'm always partial to kentucky, but galveston is also first class. i have a few friends who live there, so if you have any questions, let me know and i'll make sure to get you in touch with them.

Y'all are soooo goofy!!!
I'm just not a fan of cold winters at all- they REALLY drag me down. Plus I love a coastal atmosphere, so who knows- one day I may end up somewhere south. Other than the cold though, I have not too much to complain about with KY! :) |

it's a win-win! warm winters, close to the coast and you'll have connections to people. you should do it :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: Quote:

Hey Ethan,if you come up to Connecticut, make sure you bring your wallet, due to high taxes all around, and cost of living too. Also Snow, cold .I would love to come down to Kentucky and get out of here. The only good thing about CT is ,I'm right in the middle of of the state ,which it makes traveling to NYC or Boston quick. Also I've notice our Stevie like coming up to the northeast to tour.

My cousins and I had a time share condo, for about 10 days, a few years ago, in Galveston. I was completely UN-impressed with Galveston. It seemed to be a drab and dreary place, with not much night life. Borrrrrring..... Yeah, I like the night life, even if I don't boogie. |

i think The Internet needs to provide ethan with a f*cking gazetteer so he can stop posting these threads.

You want coastal life, and you pick Galveston, TX?
Go fish. |
The reason I was thinking about getting more information about Galveston is because Texas is a state that has a history of a fantastic choral music tradition. That is why I have been looking at Texas as a potential option. :)
Really though, I'm definitely not wanting to limit myself when it comes to teaching options, because the more options you have, the greater chance there is that you'll get a job offer! |
