Because of all of the Political Happenings: Should the Ledge Elect A President?

Don't know, just thought I would throw this out there. There are a lot of political happenings going on around the world, so perhaps it would be fun if we elected a president for the Ledge.... What do you all think about it? It's probably a stupid idea, but I thought that maybe it may be fun.

Much Love,
Ethan

Musicman408 10-07-2008 05:02 PM

This idea came to me again today. You all sure you wouldn't like to do something?

The president could serve as a welcoming committee for new members, could try to get more people to join, and stuff like that.

So, just like what we've got for US Presidents now - a figure head. Hmmm...depends on who's running and how good they look on a monitor... :D

Well I would have to say that more than likely I'd run, if people wanted it.

I'll tell you what, we'll keep this thread running for a couple of days for discussion, and then we'll have an official vote on whether or not to do this. If we vote yes, then we'll gather all the people who want to be on the ballot, and then we'll have an official vote.

chriskisn 10-07-2008 09:57 PM

Personally I don't see a need for a ledge president...I struggle to see the need for a regular one sometimes...

Just think about it, we'd declare war on The Fleetwood Mac Legacy website just because they might have SMDs (Stevies of Mass Destruction)

Those of us who are supporting Ledgies would suddenly find our money being spent to bail out those who didn't have any money...

The world population of moose would probably decrease further...

Hmm...no I think I'd pass on the idea of a Ledge president... ;)

Hmm, thats quite a conflict of interest there. If you are wanting to push people to elect a president then the first thing you do is rule yourself out. Otherwise you just look like you are trying to get yourself elected.

Tis true.

Hey, it's late, and my college brain is a bit fatigued.

My idea of a Ledge president is not as in depth as you're thinking. President serves as an ambassador to new members, help them and introduce them to Ledge society and whatnot. The President also is on the forefront of bringing new people to the Ledge. They don't have massive Administrative powers.

estranged4life 10-07-2008 10:17 PM

I get to be OBL...

Why on earth would the ledge need a president?

And anyway... the lack of response to your original post surely speaks volumes...

This website has an owner/webmaster, administrators, supermoderators, moderators and supporting members. And YOU wish to be named President? Perhaps you should take this up with the owner.

ugh NO POLITICS!!!

Its bad enough we have to deal with this elsewhere.
Especially in English-ENGLISH!!!-Class!!!!

Can't the Ledge be a politic free zone where we come to discuss FM related stuff?
pretty please?

oh, and I don't get the ICBM thing either. [unless its like 'icybeam' but that would be just plain wierd.]

I didn't want to have to come out and say this explicitly, but here it goes:

I, as in first person pronoun.
C, when read aloud sounds like "see"
BM, as in, well, you know, BM

I "see" B M

Sorry for that. I didn't mean to derail the whole entire thread to tell a third-grade potty joke.

Chrislit18 10-08-2008 06:22 PM

ugh Ethan, but its so true. lol.

we have 30-45 min discussions of politics in english class. lol.

btw, we don't need a pres here. our moderators do basically what one would.

I guess I missed out on that joke in 3rd grade GoS :)

Well I guess it's good that most of the third graders in the US aren't talking about ICBMs. I meant the BM part was third grade, not the entire joke. That might read the wrong way without clarification.

I think it'd be something fun to do!
Just sayin'

chriskisn 10-09-2008 09:07 AM

Okay people so I've basically just appointed myself the President of Australia (goodbye Queen Elizabeth II). Three people thought it might be something of a good idea (21 million probably didn't know) so here I am.

I'm happy to be known from this point as Your Excellency or if I know you well you can just call me Sir.

Hmm I think I shall declare war on New Zealand now (sorry to the Americans you probably don't know where that is do you?) ;)

Well, that's why we would have a vote to see who all wouldn't mind it..... But I wouldn't get your undies in a bunch, I don't think that's gonna happen.

I'd like to be a member of Congress. I would have the power of the purse AND the right to impeach.

Jannie, we could kick butt. But we'd have to make Michele secretary of the interior. After all, she owns the place.

Well there was some report a couple of years back that when asked to draw Australia on a map of the world the majority of American school children drew it near Europe.

Actually you would be surprised at the number of Amercians who think we keep kangaroos as pets and that the hop down the main street on a daily basis. It seems to be one of the most commonly asked questions...

Oh yes and I used to have an Amercian girlfriend who asked me if we celebrated Christmas at the same time of the year as the US.

(Look I realise that its a stereotype - I can pretty much guarantee you have them about the Canadians, and probably us too)

estranged4life 10-10-2008 07:57 PM

I can relate...

since I was once asked, by a person from the East Coast, the following question:

"At night, do people in your town sleep at the Fort to avoid attacks by savage Indians?"

Definitely a WTF moment in my life.

Aactually my wife went to a work conference thursday/friday and a woman there from one of the other regions brought in a baby kangaroo in a bag that she was feeding/raising (the bag to imitate the mother's pouch as the mother was killed by a car). Not very professional but everyone seemed to love it. So maybe I am playing a joke on you ;)
