Stevie's 60th

Should we give Stevie a gift from The Ledge? Like a collective donation to her charity for the soldiers? I think it would be nice.

HejiraNYC 04-29-2008 02:37 PM

I'm in also. So how much do you think we should donate? iPods are expensive!

TwistedGypsy 04-29-2008 03:48 PM

Count me in too...That would be a great idea.

petep9000 04-29-2008 04:34 PM

Maybe someone should contact John Kinney to see if he has any thoughts on how this could best be done.

petep9000 04-29-2008 06:14 PM

Do you think John Kinney is the best judge of what's a nice thing to give Stevie? In light of the shiddy website he's running for her?

Just sayin'..

Good idea. He might know how to direct the donations to Stevie's Soldier's Angel fund.

David 04-29-2008 10:32 PM

This isn't it?

The Catdancer 04-29-2008 11:31 PM

They're doing the same over at 7 wonders so the amount should be great!!!!

GoldDustOrphan 04-30-2008 01:24 AM

I would go directly to Liz Rosenberg. Her office would want to maximize any charitable effort or gesture attached to Stevie's name and fanbase. It might appear grotesque - or opportunist - to turn a wonderful fan effort into an promotional opportunity , but Warner might match any donation, and media attention will only benefit the charities Stevie chooses to support. And some lucky fan(s) has to be the one(s) to pose with Stevie and a big, foamcore check for the publicity shot.

I'm absolutley in too :) That's a great idea!

HejiraNYC 04-30-2008 10:42 AM

Well, why don't we go the extra step and organize a private benefit concert where Stevie is the featured performer and we sell tickets for $1000 a piece and...

Oops, someone tried (and failed) already. :p

I just wonder if we could organize some kind of a good deed group activity in honor of her 60th birthday. Whether it's cleaning up litter in a park or painting an inner city school or or planting trees or volunteering in New Orleans... I'm sure Stevie would be thrilled to know that something like that was being done in her honor.

But how would she know about it though??

 at the private benefit.

SuzeQuze 04-30-2008 12:35 PM

I wonder how we can make sure that they go in as from The Ledge. Maybe the return address, the note section on the check, have one Ledgie collect them? The latter may not be something people are comfortable with.

Well... I think we could get Liz Rosenberg on the horn for that. She could probably get some publicity for the effort.

Or perhaps John Kinney could use some of that 1990's-style HTML coding to publicize it on his website.

Hawkeye 04-30-2008 09:36 PM

I'm in too. Just post the details on how to get the money in.

Hey Suze...

I think the one to contact, besides Liz Rosenberg, is Herbie. I talk to him all the time, and he sees Stevie all the time! I think he'd be a great contact.. Here's his e-mail addy : [email protected]. I'd also LOVE to chip in on this, as we are also doing something on my own Yahoo group too! :p

Awesome Suze!!! Great news!! :xoxo:

SuzeQuze 05-05-2008 07:27 AM

We're on, the checks should be sent to me first and I'll forward on to John. He asked Karen to get the information on how to endorse the check. When I have that I will post. Those interested in donating can send me a PM or post and I'll PM you my address. Karen said Stevie was happy to hear about the donations! :)

Do you think setting up a PayPal account would help facilitate this a bit? After all, the big day is only a few weeks away. Knowing how lazy I have become, I can empathize with the contingent who would rather not hassle with writing a check, licking a stamp, going to the post office... Since I am already set up, let me know if I can help. :wavey:

If the charity has a PayPal I am sure this can work. But it may wind up as an individual donation and not a collective donation from The Ledge. I know snail mail can be a pain but dude, it's STEVIE! And our soldiers! :)

Stew_Matthews 05-05-2008 05:10 PM

I've sent a PM, but yes I'd like to contribute.

carrie721 05-05-2008 05:17 PM

frankly i'd rather see money go towards body armor and private army hospitals before stevie's self-indulgent ipod brigade.

Does Stevie's particular charity *only* do the ipod thing? I'm inclined to agree with you, Carrie. However if it's the only thing her charity provides and we are doing it for her birthday, I can get behind it.
