Desert Angel by a mile. Never understood all the hate for this song. The music is absolutely beautiful. And even though this was recorded during the "lost years" as Stevie refers to 89-93, I think it's one of her most passionate vocal deliveries to date.

I think it's her bellowing "Operation Desert Shield! Operation Desert Storm!" towards the end. I just can't overlook that. :sorry:

I picked SIAB. It's cheesy but I still enjoy it just like I enjoy some of those old Bon Jovi hits.

Agreed. Love it. Her voice is stronger than all get out. She sings "operation desert shield" so forcefully at the end it nearly distorts the mic. The liner notes don't say who played the piano on the track but I think it's absolutely gorgeous. It's one of my favorite things about the song.

You described that so well, I love how she sings those last couple of lines. :)

I voted for Desert Angel. I've always liked her Mike Campbell collaborations, which tend to be blues rockers. The lyrics are a bit too straightforward and literal, but I like appreciate her sentiment for the soldiers. I rarely listen to Sometimes and Hard Game. The tacky lyrics keep me away.

Man, after today I think I would have to change my vote to Desert Angel. I just really love that song. I hadn't listened to it in awhile.:distress:

Me too, so thats where my vote goes. But for the record, I love the vocals on "Desert Angel" - I especially love the very end - 'Operation Destert Angel'

and Love's a hard... , too. I like both, but chose SIAB cause I liked it from the first.

I chose "Desert Angel"

I think it's the prettiest of the three songs and certainly the message of the lyrics is great.

"Sometimes It's A Bitch" has Bon Jovi written all over it (obviously, since he wrote it) and I just find his music annoying in general, so I can't get into this one.

"Love's A Hard Game to Play" is lyrically and vocally a good song but I can't get past the horrendous screeching of the guitar strings.

Great vocals on all three songs, but "Love's A Hard Game To Play" is my favorite. Why? Because I relate to it more than the other ones. It's more personal to me.

I can't choose. It's a big three ring carnival of hate for me. I just want to make it stop when I hear any of them. She did write the lyrics to DA, but it's bottom 5 ever in my book. At least I get the "Operation Panty Shield" laugh out of it.
