LL sucks

equeen102289 11-04-2005 10:36 PM

oh..my..god...leave Edge of Seventeen alone...that will always and forever be signature stevie.

Nicksluvver 11-04-2005 11:34 PM

Oh My god, this cannot be true. Shame on that twit. I bet her management told her she could have a hit like Destinys Child. I mean , how big of a fan is this girl, is she a fan at all?? I never heard her say she liked Stevie in the least. I think I am going to be sick now. I realize Stevie will get her publishing royalties, but this I justcannot get over. Shocked  Maybe Jessica approves. This is her age group music?

ditto, that's exactly what I thought when I read the thread title!

SortaSavageLike 11-05-2005 07:59 AM

Edge of Seventeen? Hey, wasn't that a Dixie Chicks song?

danax6 11-05-2005 08:07 AM

WTF?! No! :distress:

nwestohiofan 11-05-2005 08:41 AM

Lohan covering Stevie???

Well....I hope that Stevie makes MILLIONS in royalties....and as for Miss Lohan.... I have a feeling she will get what she has coming to her for doing something so foolish.

"........and the days go by like a strand in the wind in the web that is STEVIE'S not YOURS!!!!!"

On positive side...if this allows some 15-16 year old girls who do not know who Stevie is get the chance to be exposed to her and really find a rock goddess to be a fan of then maybe alls well that ends well.

UnwindedDreams 11-05-2005 08:55 AM

She doesn't even know who Miss Stephanie Lynn Nicks is!

Stephanie 11-05-2005 08:56 AM

I don't care for Lohan, but I am glad her generation is embracing this kind of music. I am glad anytime stevie gets more exposure for her brilliant career

Exactly! What gall she has to cover something that like that. I would rant about it but you've explained it there.

I think Stevie has enough fans, really. That doesn't mean it hurts to have more, but if this is how they are to be gotten then I am adamantly against it. If it were me (which it obviously isn't but I'll offer my opinion anyway), I would be happier to have a fewer fans by comparison and not have Hohan doing one of my signature songs that can be mine only. Hell, I'd rather fade into obscurity than have Hohan cover my songs.

GypsyAsh 11-05-2005 12:05 PM

Oh man, Oh man.... Of all the people on the planet....

Lindsey friggin Lohan...

Some songs should just be left alone.

Next thing you know, Puff Daddy will be doing Kashmir....:o

What's the world coming to?

At the very least Stevie will get more exposure outta this and more money. And if Lohan sucks - it'll just make Stevie look better than all these singing skanks coming outta the woodwork.

Thank GOD she got to it before Paris Hilton did. They'd NEVER get her stink off of that song.

dissention 11-05-2005 01:41 PM

I want to hear it. And I like Hohan's new single. Bite me.

I like that nickname HOHAN - LOL

sparky 11-05-2005 02:07 PM

Myabe this will qualify Hohan for a discounted rate when she finally decides to hit Betty Ford.

If the song is released and becomes a hit chances are those 15-16 year old girls will never realize the song is a cover and think that it's a Lindsay Lohan original song, that's the scary part.

Hey, you awoken a memory..
...Remember a while back when Britney Smears covered Joan Jett's I Love Rock N Roll? Well...I was working in the music dept at Hastings at the time..and I will never forget this guy who came in with his pre-teen daughter.. he made me prove to his kid that it was somebody else's song before Britney stole it.....It was preiceless...I popped open Joan Jett and the The Blackhearts and blared it throughout the store.....
Good moment....
Good parenting...

My best friend thought Landslide was originally done by the Smashing Pumpkins when it came out.

P.S. I Can't Wait just came on the radio in the car on the way back from Starbucks. It's a beautiful thing!!

jannieC 11-05-2005 04:05 PM

I think it's cool- hopefully it won't suck, but even if it does- it shows that Stevie's music is still relevant. I have no idea what this girl sounds like, but I'm curious to hear this re-make. Pretty brave of her, I'd say.

Kids today, man.

Livia 11-05-2005 04:56 PM

What's equally as potentially frightening is her doing a cover of Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me."

When and why did covering good songs become trendy among talentless whores?

the only good cover of that Cheap Trick song I've heard was one by Letters to Cleo.

Look, Peter, Paul and Mary weren't that bad, and besides, if they hadn't done "Blowin' in the Wind," Bobby might never have gotten popular in the first place.

Seriously, though, does anybody really care if Lohan covers "Edge" or not? No one will force you to listen to it, if a few fifteen year old girls like it and decide to check out Stevie's music, good for them, if the rest of them don't care or think it's a Lohan original, who cares?

I'm always amazed at the venom people direct at these Disney robots. They're so completely bland and harmless, how does anybody bother to get so worked up over anything they do?

At any rate, I don't think it's humanly possible for Ms. Lohan's cover of "Edge of Seventeen" to be as bad as Stevie's cover of "I Still Miss Someone."

I don't know about that? 15 and 16 year olds are smarter than that. They have such easy access to information these days with the internet that they tend to be very knowledgable about music. At least my 15 year son is. A couple of years ago when Eminem used Aerosmith's "Dream On" in one of his song's, my son said he really liked that song and I said, that's Areosmith's song, and he say's "Who?", to make a long story short, now he love's Areosmith. So hopefully the same will happen with "Edge".

Someone."

I wouldn't say that I'm "worked up" over it. I just made a comment. This kid covering Edge isn't going to cause me to lose any sleep.

ShangriLaTroubl 11-05-2005 05:26 PM

What about that article a month or so ago that said she did a cover of Edge and it features guest vocal by Stevie herself...possibly just a sample. but who knows?

Her album is set to be released on December 6th. So far the only song out as a single is Confessions of a Broken Heart (Daughter To Father) which is actually really amazing.

I feel as though that's been covered by a zillion other teen popstars as well.

One song that always makes me irate is Vanessa's cover of the Stones Paint It Black. I love the girl but that particular version makes my ears bleed.
