Band Face Off - Round 5
Bono and the boys never had a chance it seems, although for a while it looked like Jagger/Richards could beat Lennon/McCartney. But in the end The Beatles' legacy won out yet again, with the band winning with a majestic 21 votes.
So for Round 5, and this time the guitars are louder and the hair is bigger. Two of these bands probably worship the Lord Of Darkness, while the other, the Lord Of Hairpsray. But which do you prefer? Remember to defend your choice! Results so far: Round 1: Petty defeats Springsteen - 35 to 17 http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=22558 Round 2: Led Zeppelin defeats The Who - 21 to 18 http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=22596 Round 3: Madonna defeats Sheryl Crow/Kate Bush - 23 to 11/9 http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=22631 Round 4: The Beatles defeat Rolling Stones/U2 - 21 to 14/8 http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=22662 Remember the polls are still open! |
Bon Jovi - Cuter, better hair. Do love a few GnR songs.
|
I picked GNR-I just liked more of their music.
|
I chose GNR, again another childhood nostalgia thing, since my mother was a fan of theirs as well.
I hate Bon Jovi. That damn smile of his annoys the sh*t out of me. As for Metallica... I will never, NEVER forgive them for butchering Bob Seger's "Turn the Page." ( :p Dissention) And the whole Napster fiasco didn't help matters any. |
Went with GnR.....a sentitmental choice. Bon Jovi is good ear and eye candy. ;) Never cared for Metallica.
|
Bon Jovi.
Call them corny, but they have great songs. |
GnR: they have never been favourites but Metallica leave me cold and Bon Jovi cause me allergic reactions. I still have to understand if I like less their music or their videos.
Romy |
Guns'n'Roses. YUCK
|
Blech. This is like asking me if I'd rather have my house infested by rats, roaches, or termites. I'm gonna sit this one out. :p :sorry:
|
Guns and Roses. The others are ok, but was never big into either. I'm not all that into G&R either, but I was back in the day!
|
Jovi for me...
That Bon guy is just too cute
and I have always loved.... Wanted,.....wanted dead or alive-lalala |
Metallica
Recently they've left me cold, but once upon a time they were my favorite band and totally kicked ass. I don't really give a flying f*** about Napster or that old, old, old "sellout" argument. Just for the sheer brilliance of Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets they top the other two. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing Guns n' Roses win this round. In fact the first concert I ever went to was Metallica/ Guns n' Roses. Good times. Of course Bon Jovi wins the cute factor, but that doesn't count. :p |

Why did you vote for Bon Jovi then? :) |
Sharon, you're killing me here. :distress:
OK, former headbanger checking in. This was the hardest one so far for me. I literally had my arrow hovering over the choices for a few minutes before ulitmately deciding on Metallica. Bon Jovi - my first real favorite band. Obsessive was my love (from age 11 to age 15.) But alas, they are 80's cheese at its best. I still like them, don't get me wrong. But they are not the best of the 3. That leaves GnR & Metallica. So. Appetite For Destruction is, IMO, one of the greatest albums ever. In any genre. I still listen to it quite often, and I adore every song. They were great, and I truly believe they could have been legendary. Of course, Axl f*cked that up, didn't he. Use Your Illusion I&II? Eh. They're OK, but by then he was a prima donna & the music started becoming secondary to the image. Metallica wins it for me, folks. Their first 4 full-length studio albums (Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppet & ...And Justice For All) are incredible. They are one of a kind. THIS was metal music, not the hair bands (although I was listening to them too, lol.) After 1990 or so, they changed & I lost interest. But man, while they were good, they were awesome. |
guns and roses. because metalwise I prefer black sabbath and soundgarden above metallica. GNR it is. for one of the best debuts ever.
|
Metallica...
Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Garage Days Re-Revisited & ...And Justice For All still sound great to me...
Whereas Appetite for Destruction sounds very dated (I like GNR, But "that" band doesnt exist anymore...And I do not care for the lame Velvet Revolver, Most overrated band in rock! Most of the metalheads I know think VR is GNR-lite.) and of course Jon Bon Jovi (aka Jon Bland-Jobi) is a lamest poser of all time (Only talent in Bon Jovi is Richie Sambora, His first solo album "Stranger in this Town" smokes ALL of the Bon Jovi songs...COMBINED!!! Listen to "Mr.Bluesman" and the Eric Clapton solo...Nuff said.) Personally I would rather see European metal bands than American bands anyday of the week, month & year. Btw, Being that I was a former moderator for a GNR website I have grown oh so sick of hearing people bash Axl for the band's demise...Sorry folks, The truth of the demise lies with others who seem to constantly cry/whine about it....Hey, it is a permanent divorce, people need to get over it. |
Guns N Roses. It's a purely emotional decision. I actually like the other two bands but am just going with what I've ben listening to most lately. :)
|
If I went by...

I would have much preferred KISS....guess I am the only KISS fan around here but no matter, I cast my vote for Metallica, but only because of "Nothing Else Matters". I cant STAND Axl Rose and I couldnt remember any Bon Jovi songs so I guess they didnt make much of an impression.
|
I said Guns N' Roses. It was a tough decision tho.
|
It has to be Metallica. The other two don't even come close. :woohoo:

Very well said Paula. I totally relate. |
Bon Jovi, because I can't stand the other two.
|
It was close for me between GnR and Metallica...... but I would have to go with Guns  I love Metallica also but a lot of their stuff sounds the same to me.......
|
I just saw this thread and I definitely had to cast my vote for Metallica. I'm not overly fond of their latest material but their first four albums kick ass. I love GNR's Appetite but Metallica's Puppets is more timeless for me. I also was a big Bon Jovi fan but not so much anymore.
