The show was FUNNY! and the singing was fantastic..that woman has a VOICE on her! She had some great memories to share and even brought up Shady Pines...

It was worth the money and the drive :)

At the beginning of the show she said she really questioned even doing it because she wasn't sure it was appropriate to be making people laugh in the face of all the recent tragedy etc. THen she comes the the point that because of that she HAS to make people laugh...

SO I had talked to her lighting guy earlier (I was staked out by the back stage door) - and so...anyway flash forward 45 minutes - it turns out Bea was leaving through the front - so I went around- the lighting guy let me in and said,

"Bea - this young woman has been waiting outside for 45 minutes..."

And Bea grabs my hand...."OH Honey!"

And I tell her, "I'm a reporter and this has been one hell of a depressing month - thanks for making me laugh!" and she thanks me...then we took a lovely picture :o

I am so glad she was nice...I was actually scared going in...I thought she'd be more crotchety.

Congratulations! She looks pretty good for 82.

catinthedark 09-25-2005 11:59 AM

OMG - that's so awesome! I can't believe she's 82, and still touring and performing. Hope I have that kind of energy when I'm her age! Glad you had such a great time.

Thats so awesome!!!!!!!!!

I find it amazing she is still touring at 82 years old!!!

DrummerDeanna 09-25-2005 02:54 PM

I guess she's not actually touring. Her lighting guy the one who travels with the show said they pretty much just do shows here and there - at places they find interesting. After Bea went off Broadway she did tour Australia - parts of Asia...amazing. Now he saays they do the occassional show.

Last night was cool - there was a woman there who knew Bea from nursing school! Bea invited her backstage after the show and everything and her hair and makeup guy is originally from Rochester - so I guess all his family was there last night.

 All this I was told while talking to the lighting guy as he smoked a ciggarette by the stage door lol....at least he knew I wasn't a "crazy"
