Ho. Lee. Sheet! What a lineup! The duet possibilities are endless! Stevie and Rod Stewart doing "Stand Back?" Stevie and Bette doing "Wind Beneath My Wings?" Stevie and Earth, Wind & Fire doing "Shining Star?"

Wow. I hope this is on TV!!'

Edit: Loggins and Messina???? Whenever I Call You Friend? Could she? Would she? Willie Nelson is currently putting together a concert here for Sept. 21st, and is trying to get the Neville Bros. for that also.

Highly likely, since they will be trying to raise money for the victims of Katrina.

I'm voting for a duet with John Fogerty. That would be cool.

me, too! I've wanted that since I heard a deejay name them the two most unintelligible singers in rock! Love the Fogerty.

Boston's Progressive Talk keeps on playing Fortunate Son. Who would have thought this country would repeat a senseless war like Vietnam and this song would again become current. :distress:

Those two would sound great together. Also, isn't Stevie friends with Bette? If I saw them both on the same stage I'd be trippin'!

ShangriLaTroubl 09-07-2005 09:17 PM

I'm glad Stevie is joining others to try to raise money...because money is definetely what's needed...I hope this is on tv too..

Chris

JazmenFlowers 09-07-2005 09:29 PM

this is awesome - I hope it's televised and that Stevie rocks it OUT! Please oh god let Stevie be in great voice and spirit and kill whatever she decides to sing!

Dreammms 09-07-2005 09:32 PM

thanks for the info.

does anybody know when the tickets go on sale?

Johnny Stew 09-07-2005 09:39 PM

Stevie never ceases to impress me. I'm happy she's doing this, and proud of the fact that she's returning to the stage to help raise money for the Hurricane relief efforts.

Yes, I realize that it's been a month since Mr. Nicks passed away, and most people have to return to work within days of losing a parent. But Stevie has the luxury to not perform for a while and to take her time grieving, so she could have easily written a check and just stayed home.

Bandon 09-07-2005 09:46 PM

preach on it girl!

I'd like to see maybe Beautiful Child or Nightbird with Lori or Sleeping Angel or something...I hope she doesn't do the standard song set of Dreams, Rhiannon, GDW, Stand Back

but, who am I really kidding, I'm just glad she is doing it and am honored to be a Stevie fan!

SapphireSister 09-07-2005 10:15 PM

I'm sure she's going to do something everyone and their grandmother has heard. It's not like it's a Stevie audience and she can get away with anything. I really think she will play something signature Stevie that most people are familiar with.

Livia 09-07-2005 10:19 PM

The most appropriate song for this occasion would be HAEWAFY.

Bella Donna and Street Angel would be cool...but will never happen...so would Illume

I don't see why she would have to sing something everyone knows, I mean who are these people!? Stevie could sing "Rooms on fire" and I gaurentee more people would know that better than anything of the people above.

OMG, are you serious? They are ALL from New Orleans, hon! ;) So are the Neville Brothers.

jkmaletic 09-07-2005 10:26 PM

I know this is vague, but a friend of mine told me she saw a commerical on TV (didn't know what channel) for a benefit concert that will be televised on the 20th - this has got to be the same one.

Hopefully Stevie's site will post something concrete about it soon.

I totally agree. It will be Landslide or something like that.

Johnny Stew 09-07-2005 10:30 PM

Each artist will probably only get one song. Maybe two in the case of someone like Bette Midler.

I'd honestly be happy with anything Stevie chooses to sing -- I just think it's incredible that she'll be there.
Would be nice to see her do "Has Anyone Ever Written" though. I think it would be the most meaningful song for the occasion.

There's one listed for September 17th on television, but I can't find anything about one on the 20th.

Although "HAEWAFY" with an orchestra behind her would be perfect for the occassion ("....and the rain came down, there WAS pain, there WAS doubt..."), she will probably sign "Landslide".

Hawkeye 09-07-2005 11:18 PM

despite it being done a bunch I think HAEWAFY would be so appropriate for this also despite the one rain reference. If not for me then do it for the the world. The song would be perfect, but I would like if she just left out the danmed men in her life part and the priests of legandary poets part.

estranged4life 09-07-2005 11:31 PM

There's one here...

on the 9th, at the Zoo Amphitheatre emceed by some dude named Billy Bob Thorton, whose band is on the bill (Interesting that the Legends of Hip-Hop are scheduled to play the Zoo that evening, Maybe the schedule has been changed.)

Wont make that one at the Zoo since we're planning to see the 2nd annual Cross Canadian Ragweed family jam on the 23rd at the Zoo (Gotta love a concert facility at the OKC Zoo), featuring Cross Canadian Ragweed, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan and others to be announced.

Hopefully this benefit in NYC with Stevie will be televised...

GardenStateGirlie 09-07-2005 11:48 PM

I've checked both the Ticketmaster website a few times as well as the Madison Square Garden website. Thus far, nothing is up except the All Access tour of Madison Square Garden (as far as tickets are concerned) but i'm sure the event is a work in progress. I think i'm going to head up should Stevie definitely be appearing on the bill.

DavidMn 09-08-2005 12:09 AM

thats a great lineup, needless to say

diamondsnake 09-08-2005 12:22 AM

This has got to be televised. They would be fools not to air this on TV since that would certainly bring in a lot more money...

Yes ma'am -- Princeton Junction  I already have it figured out...i'm finished class the day of the concert at 3:20 and don't have class the next day until 5:30 at night. This has definite potential :D

Sweet! :D I wonder how much tickets will be and if I should think about making a reservation in advance. Anyone know of a good, reasonably price place to stay near that venue? I've never been there. I would also be interested in doing the roomie thing again, that was so fun.

Maybe she's doing it for therapeutic reasons -- trying to get back into the swing of things is sometimes a way for people to deal with loss.

She should sing..
Me and Bobby Mcgee..
because it just fits.

I'm so happy to see this and agree with Johnny Stew about it being great that she's willing to get out there again so soon after her dad's death.

Please let her sing a good song, be in great form and maybe duet with Bette Midler! What a terrific surprise that'd be! :D
