Benny Hinn

I was watching this clown as I happened to pass by one of the religious channels, and I really need to know what the deal is with this Charlatan. I just dont get how people fall for this guy..

mylittledemon 08-28-2005 01:01 PM

I think he is a bit strange too. Then again, I've not been to any of his "live" shows. But I will agree, it does seem staged to me...and he seems insincere as do most of the people on TBN.

HomerMcvie 08-28-2005 01:05 PM

You watch this stuff? I've programmed my remote to skip the religion only channels(except the one that shows Green Acres and Gilligan's Island!).
I have an aversion to religion(shudder).

No, I only passed by it and I watched for a few seconds, thats all I could stomach

I'm not a fan of the church channels, but I've got to say that some of it can be hilarious in an altered state, especially anything with the Bill Gaither crew. They're so overly animated.

My mom and I when I'd be over there on Sunday morning would sometimes watch this guy on NBC, and we'd make fun of him for the entire 2 hours he was on. Good quality time with mom :)

I agree! I love to watch TBN for laughs. Usually, I can only take it for so long, though. I can never watch a show in its entirety, but there's some pretty funny stuff. Marilyn Hickey and her daughter drive me nuts.

DavidMn 08-29-2005 08:30 PM

Here's a good question. Has anyone ever seen a woman on tv wearing more makeup than Tammy Faye?

TBN is very "entertaining" to watch...for laughs...I'm sure some of them mean well...but...most of them are STRANGE!

me being Catholic, I do enjoy watching a couple of programs on EWTN sometimes.

I could be wrong but TBN also strikes me as anti-Catholic. Anyone else get that they seem to be exclusively Protestant?

GypsySorcerer 08-29-2005 10:11 PM

What's TBN?

It's really scary. "Praise the Lord" is one of the biggest (maybe the biggest) shows on there. It's got Jan Crouch and she's Tammy Faye Part II.

Oh, yeah, that. Is that Pat Robertson's channel? I know he used to own some network, and sold it to fund his university.

My favorite is that old nun that has her own show, it airs practically 24/7. I remember when Howard Stern would prank her CONSTANTLY in the mid-nineties.

"Ba-ba-ba-ba boo-ey-ey."
"Oh, it's one of those calls, huh? You perverts."

I'm not sure if he's on there. I tend to see him on the ABC Family Channel. He's a lot like the people on TBN, though.

They are...most of those stinking networks are...TBN, The Word, etc...they all put on a protestant show...and make fools of themself if you ask me.

EWTN doesnt have dolled up folks with big hair and bad makeup begging for you money...it has great soul inspiring shows that teach the faith of catholicism. It was started in the 1980's by a nun named Mother Angelica...whom is still alive in hear late 80's, and she is FUNNY AS HELL...she tells things like that are...if you ever catch her on TV just watch a few...haha. EWTN is THE LARGEST religious TV network IN THE WORLD! It is shown in many countries and even is on satalite radio.

TBN seems artificial to me.

She is old bless her heart..

but she is so freakin' funny...and tells you like it is! She has a temper and it is funny to watch her rerun shows on TV sometimes.

God Bless her.

I like to watch Joel Osteen. He doesn't yell or scream at you, he's always smiling and he's fun to listen to. Jesse Duplantis never fails to crack me up too, I like watching him sometimes too.

Benny Hinn....scares me. I think he was on Dateline not long ago. They were discussing his "healing powers".

That's Osteen's problem. He's too "feel good" and I think he just oozes false security. I'm not overtly religous, but coming from someone who grew up in church, I've never seen him preach against sin...and that is dangerous ground for a pastor. Then again, it's just my opinion.

The preach against sin part is a very good point. :)
