Projects for Adam Sandler

This man is a genius. I desperately hope the french take up the cause of "sandler as american movie great."

Anyway, i'd love to see sandler in:

a western
as Dirty Harry
in Planet of the Apes as taylor or as ape
in a remake of the Graduate
in Straw Dogs

God bless Adam 'Shampoo Is Better' Sandler!

Good christ, I'd pay cash money to see Sandler in a remake of Straw Dogs. That would give me enough laughing material for the rest of my life.

Too bad Ed Norton beat him to the punch, though.

Um, conditioner is better. It leaves the hair silky and smooth.

Sacrilege. Don't ever use those words around a product whore!

I'm still alternately amused and freaked out that David knows even a little bit about Adam Sandler.

Billy Madison is a dumb movie but I love it. Sandler, what a riot, I love that guy. Chief David HeadyBrew see Billy Madison & find Adam Sandler much funny & weird. He know good medicine for making Chief David feel stupid, giggly, lighthead. Silly, & much laugh. Adam Sandler honorary chief of Headybrew Nation!

Another idea for casting: Adam Sandler as General De Gaulle.

I just saw Happy Gilmore a few months ago on digital cable & it's one of the funniest movies I ever did see. I laughed, I cried in pain from too much laughter. I woke up people trying to sleep. I hollered, I hooted, my lungs nearly collapsed.

Now his Little Nicky or whatever it's called was a disappointment but Happy Gilmore & Billy Madison are two great comedy classics, like Midnight & Easy Living. His way of talking is pure genius. It's inspired, different, radical. Silly, yes, but also astoundingly brilliant. Plus, I saw The Wedding Singer on Thanksgiving with family. Man oh man .... I was stuffed full of turkey & potaters & stuffing & such when I was watching Wedding Singer & fell into such an intense laughing fit my lungs nearly collapsed & I nearly died.

Gotta tell ya, this Adam Sandler is a miracle, a wonder, a phenomenon ----- also, sorry for all the parataxis but Adam brings it out, wakes up Homer from his nodding.

He's a loser/winner .... he's a dork/cool guy. He connects with children because he's half kid himself & because he respects kids as semi-adults possessed of thought & sensitivity. Next week they are showing Big Daddy on Fox channel ---- I hope I make it out alive.

The predecessor (?) to Amazing Adam was Rosalind Russell in Picnic, the old maid schoolmarm who doesn't care what people say: "What do people say if I thumb my nose at them?! What do people say if I walk down the street with little pink panties on?! What do I care what people say?!"

I'm also a fan and I own a copy of The Wedding Singer. LOVE that movie. "Hey, psycho, get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up!" And, "Cindy and Scott are newwwwlyweds, well whoop dee doo!!"

Sandler as Lindsey in the story of Fleetwood Mac. ;) A good buddy film except the buddy is a snarky kid. Hmmm...

"Billy Idol gets it."

I liked him a lot in Punch Drunk Love. It could be interesting to see him in an adaptation of The Idiot by Dostoevsky or in a "The trial" remake with Clint Eastwood as director.

Or Dostoevsky's Notes from Underground? Or would that be too disturbing?

Eh, I don't like Adam Sandler at all. :sorry: I don't think I've liked anything I've seen him in. Punch Drunk Love was alot better then most of his material though.

Man, I'd forgotten all about that. I just can't see him being so, uh, insightful as that character. Nor would I care to see the rape scene.

I don't like him either. Actually, I can't stand him. I'm not a huge fan of his type of humor and I feel as if my IQ drops 12 points every time I hear him speak. That mildly-retarded drawl of his drives me batty. Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Emily Watson were fab in Punch Drunk Love, though.

Exactly. He's one of those guys that actually bugs me to even look at. So annoying.

I know, I know. But I'm guilty anyway. I love Billy Madison. From some reason, I think it's great to ridicule a kid who can't read quickly enough. Isn't that awful?

Happy Gilmore is one of the funniest and best movies of all time. The Waterboy and The Wedding Singer are both up ther too. I never really cared much for Billy Madison though.

That voice of his just makes me throw up in my mouth a little each time I hear it. It cuts through me like a knife.

 That one was pretty painful, but I don't think anything compares to Billy Madison and Big Daddy. Those movies made me wish I were deaf and blind.

macfanken 03-06-2005 09:46 PM

David, I'm glad you enjoy his movies, I get them mixed up, was one of them a golf movie?

Oy, Schneider. He just went ballistic over an article written by a Los Angeles film critic, I believe, that essentially tore him down as an untalented hack who has made some of the worst films to ever be screened. The critic couldn't have been more dead on, of course.

I find it hysterical how the good cast members of Saturday Night Live never make it very big, yet hacks like Sandler and Schneider become huge stars. Go figure. I, for one, simply can't wait for the new Deuce Bigelow Male Gigolo flick.

"Oh Behave.........." Mike Meyers did okay. Eddie Murphy, Belushi,.....
But I get your point. The later ones have had alot of trouble going on to better things.

If this is true then it's startling to imagine that he came from the same show as Adams Sandler. Oh the contrast.

 SNL has had some pretty mediocre talent in the past ten years, though, and whenever they get someone new who's very talented and funny, they waste them and their careers peter out. Molly Shannon and Jimmy Fallon are hysterical, but they aren't idiots like Adam Sandler, so they won't appeal to the masses as much. Such a shame, but that's life.

Okay, just so you know, then, Louisiana is NOTHING like that movie. Not only is that movie not funny, it makes Louisiana look bad, and we can make ourselves look bad on our own.

I really think Billy Madison is one of his best, if not his best. The others just aren't funny to me, Big Daddy included. I haven't seen all of them, but it seems to me like the others have no redeeming value whatsoever. Well, I don't know--I remember laughing at some parts of The Wedding Singer. Still, I don't know how you could say that BM and BD are worse than The Waterboy.

skcin 03-07-2005 10:40 AM

The Waterboy is awful. I can't watch it. Love The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates, though. Billy Madison' OK.

Punch Drunk Love? So bizarre it's good.

Yup. I can't say that I think Straw Dogs needed a remake, but it should be intertesting, to say the least. Especially to see how they update it and sanitize it compared to the original. I'm sure it'll turn out to be like a Disney flick.
