I read in thisdayinmusic.com that today, 1967, Fleetwood Mac made their live debut when they appeared at the National Jazz and Blues Festival in Windsor. Also on the bill Jeff Beck, Cream, Small Faces, The Move, The Pink Floyd, Donovan and Chicken Shack.
John was still with John Mayall, but since they also played at the festival, it is likely he and Christine met for the first time. Mick wrote:
I also remember a big commotion over a hot new blues band from Birmingham called Chicken Shack, word having gotten around that the singer and keyboard player was a beautiful blonde named Christine Perfect. We all went to see Chicken Shack's set at this blues event, and everyone in Eleetwood Mac immediately fell in love with Christine.
But it was during the Mr. Wonderful sessions that Mick recalled John began to feel attracted to Christine.
We all loved Christine. Pete fancied her and she fancied him in this period, which was quite complicated because John McVie was also taking a shine to her and she to him. Anyway, Christine made her debut with Fleetwood Mac at that session.
That potential love triangle seemed to me a teaser of what 1977 would be like. Were they too british to become what Rumours was?
When I looked for pictures of that festival I found two posters that mentions tha band as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, just as his first album was known.
