Mad is when you only have a few more slurps left of your Dairy Queen blizzard.

They sold out their souls for money not to mention unlike other decisions to tour, this was planned, contract signed to include Lindsey. One member should not have that power of extortion over a band and recreate that band to their liking.

See, I just can’t say that firing someone is comparable to “selling their souls.” And one member only had the power because three other people totally backed her up, so there’s that.

But your point about the Dairy Queen Blizzard is noted

FM actually performed DDIO, IGY, and FF towards the end of the tour as well when the setlist was 20 songs.

Blue Letter was first released by Fleetwood Mac. It's like Talk To Me - that's a Stevie song. Blue Letter is a FM song. Farmer's Daughter is not an FM song.

I think those three covers should've been rare Stevie songs or even Billy or Rick songs.

Bottom line, there should have been at least one newly recorded song in the 2018 setlist. They were able to do it in 2013. No reason why they couldn't in 2018.

Are you sure about I Got You? I know that was played in the early shows, but by the time I saw them in early November, that song, Hypnotized, and Storms had been dropped, all to my dismay.

I wish before the tour they had released an album with newly recorded versions of I Got You, Don’t Dream It’s Over, Hypnotized, Storms, Black Magic Woman, Isn’t It Midnight, Oh Well, All Over Again, Tell Me All the Things You So, Man of the World, Sentimental Lady, and a new song or two, but it didn’t happen. Maybe that would have helped keep the audience be more accepting of the songs they dropped early on, who knows?

I totally agree with you that it would have been awesome if they had performed some songs from Rick and Billy’s time with the band. I would have passed out right there on the floor. How I wish they had consulted me about their setlist beforehand LOL!

We definitely disagree on that one. IMHO Mick could barely say that with a straight face. He was saying that trying to prop up the big lie. He was trying to give credibility for his actions. DID NOT BELIEVE A WORD OF IT

I would have bet my life in 2018 there would never be a studio recording or another tour with these "new" members. You are smarter than that Steve to really believe such crap.

Your bitterness has trumped your objectivity. You don’t add people with their backgrounds if recording wasn’t on the table. Mike is Stevie’s primary collaborator, Mick had just recorded an album with Neil, and Christine and Neil collaborated on new material on the road.

Blue Letter was first released by Fleetwood Mac. It's like Talk To Me - that's a Stevie song.

“Talk To Me” was written by Chas Sandford who’s a professional songwriter and publisher. He specifically writes songs for others to sing. He also wrote John Waite's "Missing You.”

“Blue Letter” was another band’s song.

The same reason they played “I’d Rather Go Blind,” “Get Like You Used To Be,” “Don’t Let Me Down Again,” and (briefly) “Frozen Love.”

Also, “Tear It Up,” “The Bigger the Love,” “We Just Disagree,” “Only You Know & I Know,” “Feelin’ Alright,” and “Dear Mr. Fantasy.”

ETA: And “Stand Back,” “Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You,” “Go Insane” (OOTC tour acoustic version), and “Go Insane” (full band version).

Not to mention they rerecorded a Buckingham Nicks song on a studio album.
One difference is that the previous lineups that played solo or other band songs in a FM set before 2018 had actually made music with Fleetwood Mac.

I wouldn't have wanted to hear these songs but those three covers could've been Lay It All Down, The Green Manalishi, and Jewel-Eyed Judy. I would've wanted Crystal, Angel (Stevie), and Straight Back, but that wouldn't have been fair.

It's not spin. It's an opinion. Please be respectful and not combative.

Also, as you've said, the 2018 Tour was a 50th Anniversary Tour. Crowded House, Split Enz, and Tom Petty songs had no relevance in a setlist presenting the 50 Years of Fleetwood Mac's recordings.

Fleetwood Mac has been doing that since Christine joined the band.

When Mick did that interview in 2017, he said he’s always felt Lindsey and Stevie should be doing a Buckingham Nicks som and Christine a blues song, so even with it being Fleetwood Mac’s 50th Anniversary, it was never etched in stone that that’s all they were going to be playing. Anything that would’ve given us another album of Mick, John, and Christine together would’ve been fine with me.

It’s just humorous to me that fans of the TENTH incarnation of Fleetwood Mac are calling the 18-19 band Fakewood Mac. At least the Peter Green fans had a credible reason for saying that anything that came after Peter quit wasn’t really Fleetwood Mac.

They were pissed when Albatross charted!

The idea that you keep doing this, comparing crap from 1970, 1975, or 1990 to anything in 2018 is ridiculous. It was completely different. These were active bands! This wasn’t a new band. This band did nothing but play live shows. Nobody will ever remember the 2018-19 iteration of this band as nothing but a complete footnote on the Fleetwood Mac story. There was no reason for this abrupt change other than placating ONE PERSON and their ego.

And at the end of the day, Christine is friggin dead and the band is done! That is how it ended. With a cobbled together set of players who have no connection to the band’s DNA doing covers of a guy who was in the band EARLIER THAT YEAR and bringing in their own songs to fill out a set. And for many, me included, this is why I hated this from day 1. I had a bad feeling, at their ages, that something would happen that would ever prevent that true final reconvening. Admittedly my money was on the other McVie initially. And then Lindsey. I didn’t think it would be Chris but here we are.

So I’m glad people enjoyed hearing Stevie sing BMW, I Got You, Neil Finn singing GYOW, and of course, the two poignant moments of the show - Don’t Dream It’s Over and Free Fallin’. For me, it forever tarnished the band and their legacy and prevented any sort of proper ending. This band and the music is the soundtrack to so many of our lives. This isn’t about Lindsey either - I’m a FM fan first and foremost and long have said that the five of them needed each other and have always been 10x better together than their best solo work.

Sorry, but “Crazy ‘Bout You Baby,” “Get Like You Used To Be,” “I’d Rather Go Blind,” “Stand Back,” “Go Insane,” and “Don’t Let Me Down Again” are as much Fleetwood Mac songs as “Don’t Dream It’s Over” or “Free Falling.”

Hypothetically, if the band had brought back Dave Mason and played “We Just Disagree,” “Only You Know & I Know,” and “Feelin’ Alright,” would that been okay? He was a member of Fleetwood Mac and released an album with them.

What if they brought Billy back, but he only did “Don’t Say No,” “Tangled Up In Texas,” and “Ain’t Got The Heart” in addition to the Lindsey songs, would people have been okay?

See, this is why I call BS. Fleetwood Mac did what it always did whenever they brought in someone new. The problem wasn’t the songs, the problem was the situation and the reaction would have been the same regardless.

LOL are you on the same planet!? Are we talking about the same band!? They added them to make a big touring payday happen. Recording anything was nothing but a “bonus” if they could get Stevie involved.

One minute you’re claiming poor Mick had to scramble to get Mike and Neil and now you’re claiming they were hired because they wanted to record?

Mike Campbell has already stated that he “assumed” there was an inclination to record new music because that’s how the Heartbreakers operated, but quickly found out that the tour was their only priority.

BigAl84

Eh, I’m not sure Mick wasn’t being serious about it being a “new band” (new chapter would have been more appropriate, but I’m not nitpicking something a 70-something says). I legitimately think he thought adding Mike and Neil would lead to a new album and maybe another run of live shows beyond the 18-19 tour. I mean, if I was trying to lure Stevie into the studio, I’d start with Mike Campbell, too. And Neil seems like he’d be easygoing enough to make it an enjoyable process.

LOL….that’s a rookie miscalculation. On Mick’s part and yours.

BTM and Time are completely irrelevant to the masses and younger folks who were buying tickets between 2003-2018. Probably farther off the radar than the pre ‘75 catalog which already had a strong following amongst music fans and guitar players.

Stevie's voice is so powerful in this video! I think this performance rocks.

I’d agree. The whole band does a great job.

Love the guitar solo.

Picture it…Fleetwood Mac 2024…the band plays the opening bars of “What’s love got to do with it” as Stevie makes her grand entrance in her signature Reebok platforms and a pencil skirt.

Followed by Lindsey strumming “Love Minus Zero/No Limit”

Oh, wait…

With Bob Dylan on the screen.

And bands who had big hits with Bob Dylan songs.

adore Lindsey's version. those guitar parts are fantastic, very different than Clapton's.

did not like his live versions (was it at AHI?) of it though, he seem to have been just shouting the words. the album version is just perfect.

I'll have to go back and listen to the album version. Find the live version you speak of so I can listen.

I really liked Running through the Garden and Destiny Rules live. I hated that they dropped them so soon into the tour.

They used to take bold risks! That's certainly not how we do it in LA.
