View Full Version : What can Stevie do to win back the many long time fans she’s lost the last few years?

Is there anything she can do? She’s refused to record a new album, had Lindsey kicked out, has become a dictator...
Could anything redeem her in her lost fan base and Fleetwood Mac’s fanbase? The question needs to be asked.
Personally, I think she needs to show some humility. That might help. She seems like a taker and I think she needs to start giving, without wanting anything in return.

It's too late for that, imo. $he's THE STAR, the first woman to be doubly inducted... THE BO$$.
Although $he goes by different names in my house.

How can a person who wrote Landslide, a song about reflection, not see her onwn ugly negative reflection right now and want to be redeemed???

When I first read the thread title I thought it was a "yes-no" poll.
My answer is no.

Lots of money, lots of yes people, and old AF. #bitterhag

This is what I try to remember about her, these fabulous songs she wrote.
I don’t excuse what she’s done, because the situation now is unforgivable.
But I can’t turn away from all of her wonderful poetic songs.
What can she do to regain the love of her fans....I’m not sure she knows the distress she’s caused.
I can’t imagine her changing anything about herself now, she has too big an ego for that.

1. Apologize. Publically. Admit her guilt.
2. Partner with Lindsey to release Buckingham Nicks box set retrospective with the Coffee Plant demos and some Fritz
3. Do a talk show circuit publicity with LB. And while on it talk about Lindsey the same way she gushed about Tom Petty after he died.
4. Release Rock a Little and OSOTM Expanded editions
5. Submit Fleetwood Mac ALL her demos and let the band choose which to put on a final Fleetwood Mac album
6. Record a Crystal visions 2
7 do one last Fleetwood Mac Rumours tour behind the final album
8. Admit in her autobiography she feels bad about what she did.

I am not sure she has actually lost fans. It just seems that way in certain online pockets. In the world at large, I don’t think she has, but isn’t it pretty to think so.

yeah... would be nice if the word is a better place. but it's not.
what she lost in her longtime fans she gained 10x in new oblivious "she's a legendary icon" cool aid drinking ones. and probably about 60-70% if not more of the old ones are still with her and nastier than ever.

Exactly... Unfortunately for we folks who are so disappointed in her... she has more devotees than ever. It's just in our little bubble here (and similar pockets) that people actively dislike her and are upset about "what happened." Otherwise, she's still seen as this badass rockstar, this legendary, mystical, incredibly talented musical goddess whom people of all ages worship and emulate, transcending generations. They don't really care about what she did to LB, or in most cases, don't believe that she did anything wrong at all.
Woof.

yes. i read on twitter some young person saying - Billie Eilish is our generation's Stevie Nicks.
i'm reading that and thinking - how sad that's the general impression out there among teenagers. Billie Eilish certainly appears so much more talented, at way younger age, plus less self-centered, more aware and grounded than Nicks.
one thing that is somewhat similar maybe - like SN, BE has her image and is sticking to it. but hers is not based on sex appeal.

That can change. You assume that people stay blind. With long Times fans becoming more vocal and speaking out against her on twitter, new fans become aware of her faults. The more they research her, the less likely they may be to embrace her.

Why would she even care? The fans still love her. The FM tour sells well, reviewers still love her, too.
Maybe she angered a few people, but for the overwhelming majority, she remains the face and the voice of FM.
The anti-Stevie thing that happens on this board has nothing to do with reality. I mean, how many people are still posting here? 6 or 8? Everyone else has moved on, while here, posters are still writing the - frankly - lousy round-robin fanfiction of Lindseys innocence and Stevies cruelness.

I disagree with the premise Stevie has lost fans. Her fans are flocking to the Mac shows and selling the concerts out. She could do a solo tour after this Mac tour and bring in the same numbers as the Mac.

They're not selling out concerts. They added a second MSG six months after tours dates were announced. They have only 4 dates in Europe and they did extremely well in AUS/NZ because of Neil Finn, not because of her.
This tour will only last less than a year when it usually lasts two.
And she could only do the same numbers as the Mac if she brings The Pretenders or any other band with her. She couldn't fill an arena alone. Not everybody go to their concerts because of her.

They are coming to my city in April, tickets have been on sale since beg of Dec.
75% unsold tickets on the floor,
60% unsold tickets elsewhere.
Last time they were here, sold out ENTIRE facility in less than 4 hours.

Taylor Swift is like if Stevie and Shania Twain had a kid in the form of a 21st century pop star. But she became popular in the way she did because she didn't emulate others too much, just did her own thing and it became huge. Anyone who tries too hard to be a 'new' Stevie or new anyone for that matter will never reach that level of success because it comes across as unoriginal.

The tour is currently grossing well over a million dollars every night and ranked #13 for most grossing tour. That is wildly successful. Even more successful that I anticipated. During Stevie's last solo tour, she was grossing about the same. You are fooling yourself. The Pretenders play in small clubs and theaters and they cant fill them. 96% of the arenas are there for Stevie. Don't take my word for it, take Chrissie Hynde's word for it. She said it and toured with Stevie.
I know many don't like Stevie but you cant deny her star power to fill arenas. That is the power she has in Fleetwood Mac and she knows it. Only someone like her could put down such an ultimatum and the rest of the band kick out their guitarist and vocalist.
I have been seeing Mac shows since the 80's and Stevie is the draw. This forum is not the standard for the casual concert fans. I waited in line for Tango tickets in the early morning in 1987 only to hear the people in line say no one wants to see Christine or cares about her. In 1984 Christine had a hit solo album with mega mac hits under her belt and drew about 200 people to a small theater. Buck/McVie played small theaters and could not fill most of them. Just because you don't like the fact does not mean its true. People can post all kinds of phony numbers but the money made off this tour is HUGE. Expect to see it extended.
If Stevie was not on this tour and Lindsey was, the group would be grossing far less. This is the only reason the band picked Stevie over Lindsey.

Ditto to all of this. Not to say I like it... but I agree.
To so many people (most of the people buying tickets to this tour), Fleetwood Mac = Stevie Nicks. No other factor matters to them. Not fair, but true.

2. They needed six months to add a second MSG. Which means fans are not THAT interested in seeing them. Just the casual audience.
3. Tour in Europe: 4 dates. They usually do more than that
4. AUS/NZ is selling more than well, because of Neil Finn, not because of Stevie. They never had so many dates in that area. And that's not because of Stevie.
I never said the tour is not successful. That's why they voted for Stevie instead of Lindsey. I know that, I'm not that naïve.
And I don't know what you mean by phony numbers. I can say the same about your numbers, but I choose not to. 96%? Where did you get that number?

And you clearly did not read my post. You allege the tour is not successful in your constant statements. Its all rubbish. Then you try to walk back your words over and over. If an artist sells out MSG for 2 shows, does it really matter if it took 6 months? IMHO not really. Is this the hottest tour of all time? Of course not. But you want to wiggle out of your baseless allegations somehow the tour is not successful with lame statements. Yes, your exact words are not the tour is not successful. However, you make many statements with the allegation that claims the tour is not successful. Also false that Stevie cant fill an arena. I was a disbeliever too and went on the record here when the 24K Gold tour started. However, the tour was her most successful with being extended 3 times. Maybe you have had too much Argentine Malbec ;)

Don't worry, your beloved tour is successful. If that makes you happy, then it's successful. And that 96% of Stevie's fans (including you) will make her very happy when you all fill many, many arenas on her next tour. Alone.
I don't follow Stevie's statistics. I'm not her fan.

exactly! more accurately, just turned 17 and had her first hits and a huge buzz at 16.
what exactly was Stevie Nicks doing at 16? not even joining Lindsey yet to sign at HS event? so why call Billie hugely talented, way more than Stevie, laughable?
Stevie who was a commercial star of her era, was not exactly "cool" at the time - the way she became to be viewed now. Billie started as and is already "cool" now with teenagers. she's not your built up commercial pop star of the day. of course question is what will be next for her, after becoming so huge while still so young.

Stevie was in high school at 16, like most people lol. Doesn’t make her any less talented than anyone because she was in school at the age she should’ve been in school. Britney Spears who never wrote a single one of her famous songs and whose voice was autotuned to the heavens was hugely famous at 16. Does that make her more talented than Stevie?
I’m in my early 20s myself and I’ve never heard of this Billie person by name so I guarantee you she’s not huge lmao. She’s another one of those indie/alternative white girl singers that everyone thinks are “cool” but the issue is that there’s about 500 of them and they’re all practically interchangeable and so very few of them turn into a big thing. Stevie was popular because in addition to her talent, she was something unique. Her lyrics, her style in music, her whole aesthetic and the way she presented herself was something that stood out to people because it was different.
You can hate Stevie all you want and think she’s some evil devil who conspired to ruin Lindsey’s life, I’m not even crazy about her as a person anymore myself. But literally you can’t deny her talent and uniqueness and how she made herself into a success. It’s even more impressive considering that at the time, she wasn’t taken seriously. She got all the same, sexist criticism that any pretty girly female who dares to be feminine in music today gets (see: Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande etc) but became an icon anyways.
I’m in my early 20s myself and I’ve never heard of this Billie person by name so I guarantee you she’s not huge lmao.
hm. interesting that you haven't. i'm not sure what you listen to. any alt music station, even mainstream radio plays her tons these days.
just googled her and first hit that came up is Grohl talking about seeing her at Wiltern recently - apparently he disagrees with your point that "the issue is that there’s about 500 of them and they’re all practically interchangeable" lol. i'm not gonna take yours vs Grohl's side except to say that teenagers i know are reacting the same as his daughters.

i never said Nicks was not talented. and she definitely found and made her unique style / persona and is great in marketing herself. she had a combo that worked out, especially having a band to fall back on when she was down. and then few years ago, she and her pr people found a great avenue to rebrand and resell her as an icon through AHS. it's definitely been extremely smart marketing.

I don't listen to the radio honestly I don't think people really do these days, everyone just streams. The most popular music is usually all over the streaming platforms anyways and then you can also just listen to whatever you want. And well whatever Dave Grohl and his daughters think isn't really the point lol, my point is that a random indie/alternative girl who clearly isn't big enough for a whole bunch of people to even know by name is sort of a random comparison to make with Stevie Nicks, pop-rock fairy princess witch extraordinare lol. And Stevie basically became an icon after The Dance, AHS got her a bunch of new teenage girl fans but she was already an icon.
And I guarantee you, there is no shortage of those weird indie/alternative hipster pop girls. Take for example the (imo) best one and most successful, Lorde. Or Maggie Rogers. Or King Princess. Or Banks. Or Grimes. There's so many that do that ~weird pop thing it's starting to get repetitive and lose the whole weirdness of it.

In response to the title :
To me, nothing. She's shown her true colours now, and if that's who she is-- I have always tried my best to avoid such people in my life. Respect lost over sad social choices is near impossible to earn back.
But it was the last straw really, I'd lost some gradually over the past 20 years already, so, I am not the best measure here perhaps.
Also, there are so many wonderful people in the world AS well as wonderful artists, leisure and music life's chock-full plenty without her.

I have to feel now that a final reconfiguration of the Rumours 5 is now next-to-impossible, and without a final album from that line-up it might not be something that I would want to even see.
I've never actually been much of a fan of her solo output, but as a crucial part of the Mac and due to her stage presence, I've admired her greatly for that
However, I can re-appraise my current view of her as a person if she does actually participate in an album from Fleetwood Mac XIV before nature takes its course. If Lindsey was impossible to work with in the studio and really did ruin the crystal visions of her songs then now is the chance to have a bit more responsibility with a talented group of people to produce a last piece of work under the FM name. Just don't produce something like "Freedom" again, the last time Mike co-wrote an FM track.
Neil and Chris could work well together in the studio. Let that happen, Stevie, pop in some old demos to Mr Finn, Campbell's guitar licks will add the requisite mood of mystery, and Mick and John will be chugging away in the background.
It's not the way I would want this band to end but after all the sackings, disappearances, arguments and general weirdness perhaps it would be apt.

i'm really not sure why are you insisting on putting these girls down.
Lol I’m not putting anyone down. I don’t even care. And I loveeee Lorde. The thing with all those girls is that they’re like the female version of the white Ed Sheeran guitar guy (see Shawn Mendes, James Bay, Harry wannabe Jagger Styles). So many of them now it’s unoriginal and loses all its interest. Like ok here’s another one, add to the ever growing list. And again, not sure how that forms a remote comparison to Stevie of all people lol.

Of all of the many people i’ve gotten to know on the road following SN/FM around, I cannot think of a single one who is “over it” or leaving due to LB’s dismissal. You guys are in a small, negative little anti-SN fish bowl on this website. But in the real world, Stevie people are fine. We love her just as much. We’re all still friends, still excited for the tour, still making the same plans to meet up for drinks and have fun at the shows together. I cannot think of a single person who used to be around and isn’t now. We’re having a blast at the concerts. Our FB groups still grow endlessly. We’re all excited about the Hall of Fame induction (my family already got our tickets- can’t wait!). Nothing has really changed for us.
I’m sure there’s LB fans who used to go to the shows and now do not, but there either were never that many or I just didn’t get to know them well. Because I really can’t think of anybody that’s missed. I think you guys see this as a much bigger deal than it is. I doubt Stevie is concerned. Her fans are fine and continue to follow her and have her back.

Funny, because I know many FM former fans that didn't go to any concert since Lindsey was fired. And they used to support Nicks. Not anymore.
I'm sure in your world of SN supporters you all still love her and couldn't care less about what she did, because as long as she's still the "Queen of whatever", everything is fine, right?
If you're a die-hard SN cultist, you clearly never met many Lindsey fans, but we exist.
Oh, I'm sure Stevie is fine. She got what she wanted: she got rid of Lindsey, she brought MC to the band and she still has her cult and her yes people around her that couldn't care less what she does as long as they can continue adoring her.

I have definitely met LB fans on the road following FM. Not nearly as many as SN fans, but some. I remember spending an entire night with a lovely group of LB devotees while waiting in line for an FM Today Show appearance overnight in NYC. Some of them had come all the way from Australia that night to see the band, pretty amazing. But like I said, I wouldn’t expect those people I met that night to show up for shows now. They were specifically LB fans, and he isn’t here anymore. But Stevie people who go to see Stevie? They’re all still there. She hasn’t lost them. You could replace everyone else in the band with cardboard cut-outs and Stevie people would still go. As long as Stevie is in this band, her fans will be there. I once heard that comedian Kathleen Madigan say “Stevie Nicks could eat a baby and I would still be a diehard Stevie Nicks fan.” And that sums it up better than I could. I highly doubt Stevie is concerned at all. I’m sure she has not seen any change in the amount of fans who show up and the adoration she receives. I know you guys want this to be a failure of a tour and want her people to turn on her but in reality, her fans aren’t going anywhere and the tour is a relatively big success. I’m not saying she deserves it or that her actions weren’t wrong or that she’s a great person or anything. I don’t claim any of that. But however we want to phrase it, Stevie won this round. She’s doing fine.

They made him a star, too. Just look at what happened when he tried to strike out on his own. Truth is, they all needed each other to make it big.
Lindsey would be well served to find a young female singer to team up with and recreate the yin-yang he had with Stevie. I don't mean a full partner with equal creative control, just someone to provide some of what Stevie provided in her younger days.

A 24 Karat Gold Tour Part 2, focusing on RAL and OSOTM tracks (with the re-release of these two albums) would soothe me over a bit. This would give her a year or two to simmer down and reflect on the current situation. This would also give Lindsey some time to heal, maybe he would be ready to do a BN tour of some type by then.

I want to love Stevie again. It would take very little for me to forgive her. A public apology and reconciliation with Lindsey - that's all I need.

I've been exposed to a lot of people over the years from both the LB and SN camps - not just exposed to them, actually friends with them. During the SYW tour, I traveled all over America to see Fleetwood Mac. I had a gang, too, that met up at shows all over America, for drinks and fun. These were BN people, who loved both Lindsey and Stevie (well, one honestly wasn't much of a Lindsey fan, but she was the exception).
It's fallen apart.
Although I hung out with a lot of people and there are several who are special to me, there was a core 6 I met up with often.
Of those core 6, there's me, who's no longer interested and is in "protest mode."
One of them is also not really interested, but would be willing to go if a friend goes just for social reasons.
Two are now "eh whatever" on Fleetwood Mac. They no longer want to travel to see them or spend a lot of money on tickets. If it's convenient and they can get a good ticket for face, they'll go. It's not the same as "protest mode" but they wound up not going to any shows on the tour nonetheless.
Lastly, two of them are still very gung-ho about Fleetwood Mac and willing to do like we used to do - travel all over for shows - opening night wherever it is, driving hours to see them, getting VIP. Nothing has changed for them. They are really disappointed that the rest of us have dropped out of the "hardcore" Fleetwood Mac experience. (Obviously one of these is the person who never really liked Lindsey.)
I think this is perhaps more representative than the anecdotal evidence of "I cannot think of a single one" simply because I hung out with people who loved them both.
The results are: 5/6 are not going to skip it out of principle, but only 1/3 are still as hardcore as they used to be. (If we keep it to just the BN folks, it's only 1/5 will skip it out of principle, but only 1/5 is as hardcore as she used to be.)

Never say never.
I do believe it could happen. Something major could cause an epiphany. Maybe even now she is thinking about how awful it would be to lose him when they were on such bad terms.
Plus, it needn't be a one-sided apology. It could be a mutual thing, so she could save face.
I can see a side-by-side interview, the two of them holding hands, talking about how they've come full circle now, and they wanted to make it alright before it's too late... how the band's known for its drama but there was always love behind it all, and cycles and healing and the like...
And then a farewell tour!
seriously? i can't believe people want yet another greatest hits FM tour and expose LB to it - plus all that waste of his time IF - and that's a big if - he even performs live ever again. David Bowie never performed live after his heart attack. and he was way younger, only in his mid 50s. he did one-off appearances maybe 2 or 3 times all together and that was it. he created music and found different outlets for all his energy.
public apology, stop trashing him (they still have their paid for ridiculous reviews coming out!), and a reconciliation before it's too late would be nice. one off like the Dance to neatly wrap it up. but not another GH tour.

I agree. She won't apologize because she probably doesn't think she needs to do it. She's too full of herself now. She's in another world, having the time of her life as the boss of everything. She won't waste time on someone like Lindsey.

Right...and at least a SYW show was worth going to. As mad as I am about the Lindsey situation, even if this 2018-2019 tour had a decent set list, I would be willing to go to more shows. Well, the "farewell tour" line was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but if Lindsey were up to it, I'd be down for it.
Truthfully, I just want them to be friends again, even if they never perform together. If they did perform again, though - even if it were just a one-off - I'd be in raptures.
I just want a happy ending for those two, after all these years. "The story has a strange ending" - more like "The story has a dire ending." A woman who so loved building a mythos is now crapping all over it. They've known each other since they were teenagers! This is wrong, so wrong, and Stevie should fix it before it's too late.

They haven't been friends since 1976, if even then.
The star-crossed lovers story they've played up since 1997 is nauseating and an affront to both the truth and to Lindsey's marriage.
"It's like one of those great romances of the century."–Stevie Nicks 2013, 1:21-2:21: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIbnm2z3Atk
Give me a break. Don’t great romances usually end up with the two people together and not hating each other (or at least one hating the other)?
Watch as they walk on stage holding hands as though they are quasi-lovers, and bear in mind that Lindsey is married to another woman. Notice also how Lindsey yanks her with great force when she heads for the front of the stage.
These are not friends.
There is no genuine affection there and it's an insult to the fans, to the truth, and to Lindsey's marriage that they undertook such a facile charade. You don't see John and Christine holding hands and feigning some sort of lingering romantic bond.
Lindsey and Stevie have amazing musical chemistry, but that's all they have. And frankly, that should be enough.

Who knows, but maybe Stevie was wanting to get rid of Lindsey for quite some time – even before Christine rejoined.
Because the band needs two of the three lead singers to have even the pretense of being Fleetwood Mac, Stevie could not get rid of Lindsey before 2014.
Once Christine came back, however, Lindsey became expendable. So Stevie might have intended all along to get Lindsey out of the picture following a single reunion tour of the Rumours lineup (2014-15).
Who knows whether it was her plan all along, but when Christine returned surely the thought at least crossed her mind that she could now get rid of Lindsey.
MusiCares came along and she had to wait a bit, but once the ceremony was over she was free to pull the trigger.

that fan came all the way from Australia to see specifically Lindsey, not the band. and after that tour also came to the US in 2017 to see BuckVie tour and last year to see Lindsey's Solo Anthology tour. and was one of the people in DC who he called "friends" for whom he did Rock Away Blind by request. :]
Yep, I remember her well. I was the designated “spot holder” for my group of friends and sat there overnight holding our spot in line until the rest of my girlfriends arrived. The group of Lindsey ladies were very sweet. I’d already met a few of them previously at some Madison Square Garden shows. I remember we took turns running to Wawa for coffee for one another all night. It was a happier, more peaceful time in our little FM world lol

I think LBCM played a part, but not the one most are thinking.
She wasn’t jealous, she was emboldened.
The 24KG tour significantly outperformed LBCM by every metric.

As a fan of Stevie's since 1975, I'm afraid there is nothing she can do now to win back the love I had for her. I'm still a fan, but since Lindsey's firing, I am not the fanatic I once was.
What she did was just wrong.

Well, the "farewell tour" line was a bit tongue-in-cheek, but if Lindsey were up to it, I'd be down for it.
I no longer believe that Stevie has any true feelings for Lindsey and I don’t want the pretense. What once gave me pleasure, like the flirting they did in 1997, would only make me feel more cynical and hardened today. I don’t think they feel the bond I ascribed to them. I thought The Chain was true and I no longer do.
But I think Lindsey wants the Mac to want him and to feel sorry. He said that Chris told him that deep down Stevie was sorry. At this point, I don’t even believe Christine actually said that to him. I don’t know. He might be delusional. He is the same guy who thinks Tusk is now everyone’s favorite album. He’s kind of a nut.
But they hurt him and if something can be done to make him feel better emotionally, then I want that to happen. It will not move ME, because I feel that I’ve been deluding myself all these years. But if it moves him, go for it. And, um, people were saying that Lindsey could have taken ill had he been on the FM tour.
Lindsey is a ham. He doesn’t want to die, not with a 14 year old left to finish raising. But if he HAD to go, I am sure he would like for it to be at the climax of the ISA solo when the stadium crowd has jumped to its feet, yelling in admiration. I think he wants one last Big Machine turn and I want what he wants.

Well, that's exactly what I told Lindsey at the Concord concert, and I have been punished for that. :D
I don't want him back because I feel it will be all fake on their side, not Lindsey's. BUT if that's what he wants ,if that's what makes him happy, then even if I don't want to see him again with those traitors, I guess I will have to accept it and be happy for him.
Anyway, I don't see it happening. At all. I'm even doubting what Christine said to him about Stevie is true. He shouldn't have said it, IMO.

The soap fans fantasized—to the point that they began to believe—that Anthony Geary and Genie Francis had fallen in love off the set and were acting out their psychodrama love to convey to fans that it was actually a lot more real than just a TV romance.
The Buckingham Nicks shippers have modified their fantasies over the years. It started with Lindsey and Stevie being in love with each other, but being unable or unwilling to consummate it permanently because things were so hot. As it became obvious to all but the most obtuse weirdos that Lindsey and Stevie were NOT in love with each other—as she chased down women friends and professional stature and he got married and started his family—the story transmogrified. They were deeply passionate about each other, but not in an entirely sexual way. It was a spiritual bond, a "partnership" of souls, a meeting of minds, a personal and career support network, whatever. Of course, the two of them backed it all up by saying these things in print and onstage. (Meanwhile, neither of them ever picked up a phone and called the other during off-season.)
Now the story is two stubborn lovers, grown into their twilight, who can't sit in the same room for all the sublime romantic and spiritual tension, so they separate for good. The twist is that one of them wanted to stay in the other's sphere and continue to at least work, while the other couldn't take it anymore and she kicked him out.
Next year, since all possible scenarios have been covered, it'll be a reprise of one of the earlier relationships—perhaps the "it was bittersweet and now it's just sweet" crap that they used to explain The Dance. But at this point they're both really bad storytellers—will they ever just shut up and ignore each other, the most truthful thing of all? Imagine the shakeup to the collective shipper psyche if, years from now, one of them is asked about the other and replies, "Who?"

Parts of the shipper history you recount included beliefs that I did not know existed. I mean, I didn’t think they thought it was NOT sexual.
Geary used to tell stories about being nude in the bed scenes with Genie.
I feel that Stevie is already at the “Lindsey who?” stage. I mean, there was a Lindsey in her past that she still prattles about endlessly, but the present day man hanging out in the Bel Air rain ... I think she might have a vague flash of recognition if their eyes met, but then her gaze would be quickly diverted to a passing amusement. He’s just someone she used to know.
It used to be bittersweet. Then it was just sweet. Then it was just bitter. Now, it’s deadly.

I believe it happened. What are the alternatives? Shameless lying? Lindsey being kind of a nut?
Imagining that you are receiving emails from people when you really aren't, or imagining that the emails have text in them that they really don't, is actually indicative of some pretty serious mental issues.
I wouldn't want him to be on the road if that were the case. He would need to stay home and get some help for his psychoses.

I mean I don’t think he pulled it out of thin air but likely exaggerated something she said or interpreted it for what he wanted to hear. I remember a quote from Mick where he talked about back when everyone broke up, how it was extra tough on Lindsey and took him so long to get over. Not just because it was a rough break up, but because that’s just Lindsey’s personality type. He doesn’t take things like that well. So he obviously took this situation very hard and probably hasn’t made peace with it.

That is why I used the Tusk is everyone’s favorite album example. He asks questions and they answer in a certain way designed to mollify him, but they don’t necessarily mean what he concludes they mean. Tusk is probably no one’s favorite album, not even Mick’s, even though Mick liked working on it. Those 4 pick the most commercial as their favorite, but Lindsey will say that they all came round to admitting Tusk was their favorite.
I would have to see the email chain to make a decision about what Christine said about Stevie’s regret. If she really regretted it, I think she would have responded differently to his surgery. Chris might have said something in response to him that he took to mean that Stevie was sorry.

Actually in recent years Mick did say Tusk was one of the bands favorite albums, that is not Lindsey making that up or paraphrasing. Mick said that I believe during press for the 2013 tour. It was obviously s big thing for Mick to say at the time, given the crap lindsey took for it in prior years. But alas, we are coming to learn that mick will make any statement depending on which way the wind is blowing. Authenticity and sincerity out the window.

well to be fair, he did say that perhaps Christine did say it the way she did because she thought that would make him feel better (i.e. Christine's thinking that Stevie might "deep in her heart" maybe want him "to come home").
so there's not much to think through here - he says that according to Christine Stevie said nothing and that Christine possibly made it up to make him feel better.

Well, that's why he said that Stevie's desire for Lindsey to "come home" could have been just Christine's wishful thinking. Maybe it was his wishful thinking and not Christine's.
I found a bit odd that Christine said that about Stevie, because she didn't show any signs of remorse since she fired him. I also think he wants and needs not only a closure with the band but for things to be ok with them, especially with Stevie.
Mental issues? That's actually more like Stevie's thing these days….

Just so much to say on this. First off, I love Fleetwood Mac! If you have read past interviews, both Lindsey and Stevie have mentioned that they have been Muses for each other throughout the years. It was fine with his wife, and although they were not "together", they have always had that Love/Hate relationship. I appreciate and understand this. I have seen Lindsey solo, which I was excited to see(3 times) and I'm seeing the new incarnation of FM. We are not privy to what has transpired between them all. Of course I would have loved them to have ended the Fleetwood Mac legacy with all of them, but I think something happened to change it. We are all mad at Stevie, and I want answers as well. Something changed this past year, and if so, she should tell it. All other members were complicit in firing him

I'll tell you one thing that changed, in 2014: Christine rejoined which, because the band since 1997 needed at least two of its lead singers to be viable, made Lindsey expendable in a way he was not from 1998-2013. Stevie may have been planning her coup for some time, and just need to go through one full reunion tour before executing it.
I agree with you that we are not privy to what transpired behind closed doors. That's why I ultimately don't blame them for parting ways with Lindsey so much as I do the way they did it (ghosting, lying, smearing) and for carrying on without him as Fleetwood Mac.

It is not just Mick. Mick has had kind words for the album almost since it’s inception, even when it did not sell. But Lindsay will now say that all of them have come round to consider it their favorite album. Despite the fact that they have flattered it, it is far from the band’s favorite album. Yes, I do think it’s delusional of him to think otherwise. When you keep harping on something people finally say things to mollify you.
When SYW came out Lindsey gave 25 interviews saying that Stevie never thanked him for the album. Stevie finally said something like ‘is that’s what he is saying? By all means I thank him for the hard work he put in polishing my songs.’ She still hated her songs on the album. But Lindsey could take her words as praise for the album, finally. That’s what he’d been wanting to hear.
I don’t know what Christine said to him about Stevie’s regret. I would have to see her actual words and to see what he said to her first that caused her to respond. I just don’t think she said that to him.

i don't think he said anything to her. this was her email to him right after the settlement. they didn't actually talk. i asked him about that at a meet and greet about a week before that CBS interview was taped / aired. i specifically asked him "so you talked to Christine?" and he said "i didn't actually talk to her, no - she sent me an email" - something like that.

I'm glad you have a good sense of humor about this. It was probably the only time you ever slipped up. I always read back what I wrote and often still make mistakes. I use the edit option often.
That can change. You assume that people stay blind. With long Times fans becoming more vocal and speaking out against her on twitter, new fans become aware of her faults. The more they research her, the less likely they may be to embrace her.
i don't know. there's not much need to assume. just look at your poll about people buying her upcoming solo anthology that has nothing new on it - how many people are saying that not only they are buying it but also buying tons of copies "as xmas presents" in march.
also interesting in comparison to Lindsey's first box set ever, where his single disc version has zero FM songs (makes it so plainly obvious to anyone listening that his solo catalog can stand on its own), Nicks has 2 FM hits even on her single disc version. isn't this like her 5th Best Of too?

It humps up and down over the years, and it often does so much more frequently than other performers. But the reasons for that up and down have more to do with changing styles and evolving tastes than with personal flaws Stevie might have.

You could consider it her seventh, in fact: Timespace, Enchanted, Crystal Visions, The Divine Stevie Nicks (on EMI in Europe), Bella Donna Deluxe, Wild Heart Deluxe, and now this new one. Seven repackages of previously released is excessive and illustrative of Stevie's narcissism. She and Lindsey both officially started their solo career in 1981. In that time, Stevie has produced eight solo albums and Lindsey has produced six solo albums and one "duo" album. But up against her seven repackages, he has released only one.
Might be fun to compare their live album output, too, and to speculate on the dearth or surfeit, depending. She's gone out on the road a lot more than he has, but their live album output is roughly equal: Live at the Bass Performance Hall, Songs from the Small Machine, One Man Show vs. the Fox Wilshire, Red Rocks, Soundstage Sessions/Live in Chicago.

i guess it's just easy to record the show and put it out for him? and i also like to count his Soundstage in there, even though it was never on CD / download but just DVD / bluray. it's basically the closest we will ever have to his original Gift of Screws live. there are songs on there that ended up on Say You Will and Under the Skin.
i wish he recorded one of the Solo Anthology shows last fall. that setlist was stellar.

I wouldn't put the Greatest Hits and the re-releases in the same category. Yes, they're both repackages, but they serve a different purpose. In my mind, there's more justification for re-releases that provide bonus material and fun, previously unreleased stuff for the fans. I enjoy those, and I hope she re-releases the rest of her albums (yes, even Street Angel).
A fourth Greatest Hits with nothing new, though (just counting worldwide releases)? Not even a single demo "from the vault"?
No, that's ridiculous. Enough already.
(Same for the parade of live albums on Lindsey's end, but at least he's still putting out new stuff.)
(Same for the parade of live albums on Lindsey's end, but at least he's still putting out new stuff.)
you know, that was my original reaction, because they all have GYOW and ISA and NGBA and SUD and Trouble.
but each live album is also different because one was live recording of a tour stop promoting Under The Skin (Bass Hall), Soundstage was original Gift of Screws, and Small Machine was promoting Seeds - so each has a good number of unique songs. and then OMS was it's own thing, although it was too short and i wish he had Rodeo on it, because he did perform it the night OMS was recorded.
so yeah, i wish he recorded Solo Anthology tour too, because there were so many different songs on this tour last fall.

What really gets me about SN, is she did all this so she could dance around her apartment all happy. Didn't think at all how it would affect Lindsey, his family and the FM fans. It's ALL ABOUT HER and how SHE feels. UGH

Stevie's career is very prone to what I call camel-case popularity.
It wasn't only because of that. She truly despises him. Plain and simple. And now she got rid of him. And not because she wanted to dance happy around her apartment, but because she didn't want to be around him anymore.

His heart attack was probably an unexpected bonus. For her and her fans, who still find his firing and his heart attack amusing.

seems pretty obvious Stevie has been resentful, bitter and vengeful towards Lindsey for a very long time. he's been trying to make peace and mend fences with her, but she has clearly not been open to that.
whether because of the huge hand he had in her success which she's trying to erase ("she's only as good as her producers" would look much weaker if she can take down her most influential producer), or more personal reasons, looks like she's been trying really hard to take him down. i don't know if anyone from Stevie's camp talked to that Stephen Davies for her 2017 bio or if he just made stuff up, but agenda of that book is pretty clear: it reads like a blueprint for building hate towards Lindsey, portraying him like an arrogant petty loser, especially from the Dance on. there's no care for the truth, even going as far as clear lies and distortions about stuff that everyone can see is not true when watching Destiny Rules doc. but - reading excerpts from a book like that, i can completely see where clueless stans can come up with their distorted picture of Lindsey. and also why her finally getting rid of him last year as a culmination of all the hate and resentment she seems to have harbored towards him for a long time makes perfect sense to them.

He said despite all the disagreements, they were all deeply disturbed at the news. We got to speak with him for quite a while. He's actually really sweet you guys. He didn't act pompous or arrogant at all. He was very fatherly to those of us in the group that were younger. He was actually really interested in what we had to say.

If they were really disturbed they would have already contacted him by now. They all have been working together for more than 40 years. That's what you do when you are really concerned about someone: you contact him and you explain to him why you fired him and why you didn't have the guts to tell that to him.

well, to their defense, if all they repeatedly hear was just one side of the story i can understand how they assume they know more than they do.
to his credit, Lindsey always stayed classy and didn't call out or respond to all the bs spread around about him, other than in some songs.
it's very interesting to read Dashut's stories on his fb. it quickly becomes clear how Stevie's stories of LB and RD doing something (like "always" getting high on the floor of their apartment) is usually based on a single incident.

He was basically talking about the legacy of all the members and how they were all getting older, which brought him to Lindsey's heart attack. He said despite all that's happened, Lindsey is still important to him, which was pretty comforting to hear after all that's gone down.
And before he left us all, he personally wished me good luck on my musical endeavors.

He was spaced out, couldn't remember anything from the 70's, talked endlessly about himself (which didn't bother me because we were there to hear about him), stories rambled, and basically he was unfriendly.
There were 6 of us.
As much as I think he's an ass, I also think he clearly wants his image to improve, based on what he and Stevie pulled.

ROFL that this board (and even her board now) is still crying over mean old big bad Stevie and “poor” innocent Lindsey. I haven’t logged on for months and you people are carrying on as much as you say Stevie does, and your bitterness mirrors her supposed bitterness. Pure comedy.

I seriously doubt all of what you said. You worship him the same way you say Stevie fans worship her. God forbid she had a heart attack. You and your crew would have a field day blaming her because of her past drug use, weight, you name it. And some of you would have done this whether Lindsey had been fired or not.
And for the record, I have never once thought or said Stevie was the most fantastic person in the world. The idea is LAUGHABLE that anyone in this band, or any musician, would get that honor. You are generalizing, throwing all people who like Stevie into one group so you can insult them.
True, I am not one bit sorry he got fired at this point. His own actions contributed. This is the part YOUR cult does not understand; that they didn’t suddenly decide to do this. HE contributed to his own ousting. And you will no doubt start arguing again, but that is fine. In the grand scheme of things your personal opinion means as little as mine does.

That isn't true though. I was a die hard SN fan for years and defended her over and over. I eventually started getting into the solo works of other members of FM past and present. That is the big difference allot of people who claim to be FM fans are really just SN fans. They have likely never owned and or never seen a FM concert without her in the band and likely have never seen a solo show by any other member. They also rarely if ever said two words about people like Peter Green and Bob Welch and now because they are or were doing some of their FM material they are gushing like they were always a fan of that era and owned the cd's.
This comment about them not deciding to just suddenly fire him is BS. The Buckingham McVie recording sessions were just fine. Not one person said anything bad about the sessions. In my opinion Stevie wanted MC in the band for whatever reason. I understand that Tom's death hit her hard but she isn't the only person who lost him that day. His wife and kids lost him, allot of longtime fans lost someone they respected and admired (Me being one of them). This pity party she has going on over his death is frankly a bit much.
I don't believe there are any Lindsey fans on here that think he is perfect. Most of us have said numerous times that we are well aware of his bad behavior from over the years, but that also goes for EVERY other FM member. Allot of the SN fans seem to have an excuse for every time she delayed a tour and or album and or quote outright lies from books like Storms and GDW? Most Lindsey fans have openly admitted to his bad behaviors but we all know under the influence of drugs and alcohol etc members can and did some pretty stupid things. The difference is some of us can see that while others only see his bad behavior as something that shouldn't be ignored while excusing hers time and again.
I am curious as to what it is you think he did to deserve getting fired? The tour delay???? SN demanded a year in 2012 to tour and they didn't sack her. The abuse ???? SN launched herself across a room and attacked him in 87 why wasn't she sacked for that (Never mind she was barely there for the recording sessions). Everyone loves to tell that story about how he grabbed her by the throat but always leave out the part I mentioned above.
She has also said some pretty mean and or stupid things about him in interviews over the years like calling him MR Useless etc. I don't hate SN but I also don't love Lindsey. I respect their talents as artists and such but because I know how badly they abused drugs and what effects it had I have never had anyone's feet to the fire more then anyone else.
If SN had a heart attack I would be just as upset as I am over Lindsey. Regardless of how I feel about her now I wouldn't wish harm to her under any circumstances.

Some things seem to be, whether true or not, out of bounds to discuss. This, and her 4? abortions. I'm still not certain why those are off limits. I mean, the truth should never be illegal to discuss, right? But people go into cardiac arrest when the latter is discussed...
And now, you drop this bomb...
Kudos...kudos.
Yeah people get really defensive over that. I got into a huge argument with someone on youtube when I chastised Stevie for it and was so shocked that people were defending her. I thought for sure, even if you're pro choice, anyone would find that many abortions just irresponsible. I don't hate her for doing it. Just thought it was out of character for someone who seems to love kids so much.

That is the big difference allot of people who claim to be FM fans are really just SN fans. They have likely never owned and or never seen a FM concert without her in the band and likely have never seen a solo show by any other member. Yes, I think that's always been true. From forty years ago to the present, macheads and chiffonheads are two groups of fans—with some outlier overlap. This sort of thing is probably true of other bands, too, from the Beatles to Genesis to Black Sabbath.
I am curious as to what it is you think he did to deserve getting fired? The tour delay???? SN demanded a year in 2012 to tour and they didn't sack her. The abuse ???? Everyone loves to tell that story about how he grabbed her by the throat but always leave out the part I mentioned above. The important thing to recall about those Tango stories (and the New Zealand tour story) is that they surfaced for the FIRST time only in 1990 in "My Life and Adventures"—a book ghostwritten by Stephen Davis. In 1989, Mick was a drug-addled mess and Stephen Davis has since been criticized as an opportunistic and dishonest hack with his book about Stevie.
Before 1989 and the book in question, NOBODY knew (or said) anything about throwing a guitar onstage in New Zealand or choking an ex in the parking lot (although Timothy White came close in his 1989 Musician cover story).

Wait, what parts of Storms are inaccurate? I've been counting it as fact for a long time.
The ones I remember were as follows
1. She says they had a barbecue at their house and Jeremy Spencer was there. He posted on Amazon under reviews for the book that he was never there and she responded. I forget exactly what she said but it was clear he was telling the truth.
2. The story she writes about the AMA incident when there is youtube footage to prove otherwise.
3. The story about the RS photoshoot for Rumors and when called out she responded by passing the blame on someone who was there and what they relayed to her and she was back tracking on that story and apologizing or something.
I know there were more as I recall in a discussion about the book there were comments pointing to other factual errors.
There are also parts where she implies something that she has no proof to back up. Plus the way some stories seem very heavily embellished to sound more juicy then they probably were. Yet some people swear by that book like it is gospel. Same with GDW that is full of factual errors but they continue to quote away like it is also the gospel truth.

I find Lindsey’s alleged abuse more off topic than Stevie’s abortions, especially in the Lindsey is the victim circles. For the record I doubt he physically abusive to Stevie but I do believe Carol’s claims.
As for Stevie’s abortions: it is her body, none of have any say and our opinions mean nothing. If a female does not condone abortion then don’t get one. If you are a man who doesn’t condone abortion, take responsibility to make sure your female partner does not get pregnant.

But they didn't. Stevie and Mick did. Christine wasn't even in the country when they did this and John had to be convinced. If they had a valid reason for firing him then they should have said so instead of lying on TV as well as going behind two members back to plot this.

The end result is the same: Lindsey was fired. Christine and John haven’t walked away yet so I guess they “were convinced.” Fans don’t get to decide what is valid and what isn’t. We are not members.

Go to Facebook and join the endless SN / FM groups and see the posts from the past year where they quote entire passages of the book and or say Lindsey was abusive etc and link an article talking about the book. When you point out all the factual errors and the fact that SN had no say nor consented to the book they usually attack with comments like she is the queen he disrespected her , I still believe he abused her etc etc.
I don't get why you think Lindsey isn't a victim here? If he was such a jerk why did SN have him work with her on solo works in the past decades . The others worked with him on a an album and nothing has been said about there being any tension in the studio. Why is hard to believe that SN lied on TV for whatever reason. And don't bring up decades old stories because then she should have been kicked out too for doing very similar if not exactly the same things.

Yawn. I have written about this many times too. His past and current actions led them to decide to fire him. So they did. Whether we think it is justified or not does not matter. How we feel about how they reported the news ultimately doesn’t matter. It’s done. Support them, or don’t. If they had decided to fire Stevie at earlier points, it would have been their right too. But they didn’t. We have no way of knowing if that would have eventually happened or not.

I see no point in harping on the past. What's been done cannot be undone and chastising her won't bring back her babies nor any of the other babies that have been unnecessarily killed since RvW. All we can really do as pro lifers is provide women with the facts about fetal development, present her other options (abstinence, contraception, sterilization, adoption), provide whatever financial support we can, and hope its enough to get them to see the light.

I agree 100% that it's a woman's choice, and I'm 100% pro choice.
THAT SAID, when we discuss her horrible character, and complete narcissism, then I think it's fair to discuss her willingness to put her career above anything else in life. Whether that's love, or having some pesky children. I think the subject is fair game, ~again~ when we're discussing her lack of character.

Definitely get your perspective even if I don’t agree that it’s a lack of character. .
If you don’t like someone it’s easy to use anything the person does to attack the person’s character. I take full responsibility that I do the same with Lindsey and his alleged abuse. It’s easily why I don’t see him as a victim in the firing. Ultimately it’s none of my business and my opinion doesn’t matter.

Hands down, most offensive post of the year (perhaps decade).
Perhaps another option would have been for you to have been aborted. Just sayin'...

If Stevie has a heart attack I probably wouldn’t care much because I never cared much for her. The reasons would probably be everything you named but not being fired by Lindsey. That’s for sure. We all know that would never happen. Which was my initial scenario. So don’t try to twist it into “poor Stevie”.
About his firing, Lindsey said “it was all Stevie”, so my opinion, and especially yours, don’t matter. All I heard from Stevie camp was a lie about him not wanting to tour. Lindsey said it was all her. On national TV. And she didn’t say that was wrong or the real reason. Because there’s no real reason. Just one of her usual whims. And she gave him a heart attack.

I actually feel sorry for Stevie. When she sees Lindsey's kids she no doubt thinks about the children she aborted and what "could have been". We all know she writes about them... Sara, The Tower (aka Goodbye Baby) etc... So many ghosts in her life, every time she sings about them. She is truly a haunted person. Haunted by the ghosts of her past. She lives there. She is stuck in the 1970s because of her choices. He got it "all", even if his fame without Fleetwood Mac is not as big as hers. It is a pity she take her own unhappiness out on Lindsey. Maybe someday she will write a book and some young woman will read it and it will serve as a deterrent to her aborting a helpless life growing inside her.

I hope so. Its certainly taught me one thing. Stay abstinent, which I intend to do. I want to adopt someday. A little girl who'll be my princess. I wanna give her everything in the world.
Whilst not wanting to get into the Stevie and her abortions discussion.
I have to comment that most terminations are not taken lightly, the decision to go down that route will NOT have been taken without much thought and heart breaking consideration.
An abortion is not a form of birth control, that is a disgusting idea.
The abortion is usually a last resort due to health reasons, social reasons, mental health reasons and God forbid, if the woman’s pregnancy is due to rape.
Sorry but I felt quite strongly....

yes, it does seem so, that she's living in the past in many ways and projecting everything that went wrong on Lindsey somehow.
wonder who is she taking it all out on now when Lindsey is not around to shoulder it.

Lindsey's heart attack / emergency heart surgery was less than a month ago, so i have no idea what is the meaning of "still" to posters who say stuff like this. few hours?
he may never perform again. :distress: his health scare quite possibly wouldn't have happened without all the stress of the last year, something he described as "walking around with a visceral reaction for months" and his wife described as a highly stressful year in the very post informing of his emergency open heart surgery.
Yes, I think that's always been true. From forty years ago to the present, macheads and chiffonheads are two groups of fans—with some outlier overlap. This sort of thing is probably true of other bands, too, from the Beatles to Genesis to Black Sabbath.
Before 1989 and the book in question, NOBODY knew (or said) anything about throwing a guitar onstage in New Zealand or choking an ex in the parking lot (although Timothy White came close in his 1989 Musician cover story).
interesting stuff. :cool::thumbsup:

Sorry but I felt quite strongly....
yes. most. I agree it is not all black and white. Stevie clearly used it as birth control because she was a horrible mess and couldnt remember, or threw up her pill or whatever. However, Stevie CHOSE Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll as a priority in her life. She chose her career, and fame. She Chose to dump LB to the curb and pursue other men. Everything, including her lack of children were HER choice. Those dead children, some of which she even NAMED, (sara etc) made her MILLIONS through writing songs about. (which I now think is kind of disgusting in a morbid and not sane way)
Now she is at the end of year life and instead of regretting any of it and living with her choices, she is taking her HATE out on LB. A man who loved her, impregpentad her at least once, and possibly would have married and loved her still. He moved on and is has found happiness. Until the she took her contempt out on his whole world.

Her current life is the life SHE chose. To take her frustrations out on LB now is unfair. Lindsey loved her all his life. Not so sure it was reciprocated.

I learned this in College...Because. Modern concepts of Morality and Ethics are rooted in Ancient judaeo-christian belief systems values. Up till the last 20 years that was “OK”. But it goes against the creeping culture of Facism, Socialism, and some other Isms. Therefore they are BAD and need to be search out and destroyed. In a nut shell, Abstaining is consitered akin to religious because it is a concept pushed by people who worship God.

But it doesn't have to be. My bff is agnostic and she's a virgin waiting until marriage. Its just safer that way.
And tbh, I just don't see the appeal of sex. I know its natural, but hey so is peeing and pooping. In fact it actually sounds like it would be quite painful...

I have a friend, who used to sleep around all the time, with as many as 3 partners a week. Then he started dating someone, and found out how much more sex meant, when it was with someone he loved. His relationship finally ended, but he had no desire to go back to the bed hopping. He realized that "just sleeping around" was actually a soul draining experience. He's been celibate for about 3 years or so, now. I guess if love is your priority, casual sex just isn't worth it(for some).

I've moved on, and have lost interest in any future Nicks music.
There are so many great bands making interesting music - wasn't hard to let go of Stevie Nicks after her latest drama.
I'm loving what Local Natives are doing. Same for The National, Bon Iver, Phoebe Bridgers, Wilco.

I was reading one of her interviews from 2007 and I truly don't know if she was joking or not, but at one point she explains how Lindsey was always jealous of her because she has a solo career and he hasn't.:shocked::shocked:
She truly thought the story of Lindsey's 12 fans. What harm could it make to fire him? No one will notice it, right?

Even though their love-hate relationship was always there, everything fell apart after The Dance. He got married and had children with another woman. But she had never wanted to get married to him. And never wanted to have children with him, because she didn't want to compromise her art.

If he were alive, he'd give her his opinion about how dastardly she's behaved. I wonder who of the people still in her life would be frank. Exactly. I think most people agree she is the star of the band , but he was the one member that elevated the music to a higher level. I don't think anyone can go to a FM concert and not be amazed at his talents.
SN has written some great songs but someone had to produce and arrange them. They weren't going to produce themselves. That is what some people fail to see. All they see is her being the star and he had little to nothing to do with that which couldn't be further from the truth.
You think she cares? She doesn't even realize she's lost any fans. So many are still showing up to see her on tour. She's lost some diehard fans. But her legacy is sealed. Lindsey who?

yeah but he then walked that back in a subsequent interview(s).. The Queen was not happy. She makes her displeasure known and isn't above cutting people out who don't support her public version of her life. She can decide when to let the veil drop but no one else can or they're out. Can't wait to see all the dirt that eventually will come out after she's gone. The real truth.
I've always loved the Petty clip.... believe it's actually in Lindsey's Behind the Music episode. "They realllllllly hate each other". And yet they were out there selling the bs to the shippers the whole time. I wasn't surprised by her, but was def disappointed by him that he went along with. She doesn't really care about the fans anymore; now that they aren't buying her records in the millions. As long as they buy tickets though.....
SHe's far more focused on what people she thinks are on the same level as herself think. She's focused on the "legacy". She once said she'd like to become "a beloved figure in the history books" and it seems that is her main focus right now. The RRHOF definitely plays into that.

No way would he say anything publicly now. With Warren Zevon gone, Linda Ronstadt retired, and Keith Richards's solo career over, Stevie is his boss. He doesn't bounce around like he used to.

You know that I have never bought their relationship. I hated the shipper era and probably came close to getting suspended from the Ledge during that era. I do give you credit for knowing Lindsey really missed Christine all along. He was mostly angry that she left. Hence the burning bridges... and then later we learned he was jumping in her limo and hanging out with her during the Dance.
BuckVie was such a treasure in the history... and it all went so wrong after... hmm I wonder why???

You guys need to accept that you represent less than a micro-percent of Stevie's/Fleetwood Mac's fan base. Most people don't care about Lindsey - whether he's in the band or even alive - they just want the name, face and voice of the band - i.e. Stevie. Get over it.

Maybe because of the name, face and voice of the band?:lol::lol:
Or maybe because Lindsey was a wife-beater with no discernible talent any more? Let's face it, he hasn't produced anything of true worth since 1979 and if the gold-digger is to be believed, he can't sing anymore (although I would suggest he hasn't been able to hold a tune for approx. the last 25 years).
The writing/production on Buckingham McVie was abysmal and everyone knows it although I must concede that Christine's contributions were the worst.

I never go to the $tevie forum, and the PRESENT BAND forum is for the current lineup. Perhaps you should visit those exclusively.

You know that I have never bought their relationship. I hated the shipper era and probably came close to getting suspended from the Ledge during that era. (poor Nicole). she wanted so badly to believe it was real.. all the while hating that nasty Christine for interfering with the delicate balance of an era of 1 album in 16 years.... :xoxo: The girl could post great pics and videos, however.
:p
By the way they were on stage, you could tell that Christine and Lindsey were very close during The Dance until, I would say, the very last two weeks.

I am tired of hearing about Stevie’s alleged abortions in this context. If you want to discuss abortions further, do it in Chit Chat.
I do not think the questionable Vox interview or the cat is out of the bag comments are off limits. They have been discussed ad nauseum in the Stevie forum. But enough of throwing abortions out there as proof of what an awful person she is. Make your points some other way.

I’m also tired of hearing the wife beater comment as a proof of what an awful person Lindsey is and as one of the reason the band got tired of him and fire him, but it doesn’t seem to bother anyone around here but me.

I’m sick and tired of hearing both.
Both sets of fans are guilty.....of stupid name calling,
And raking up the past.

Having abortions does not an awful woman make. In fact, if it is true that Stevie had those abortions, she has clearly stated publicly that the reason she felt unable to have children... was because it would jeopardize the career of Fleetwood Mac! How selfish of Stevie to put the continued success of Fleetwood Mac ahead of her own happiness and desire to have a family! She is such a Grinch!
And as for the wife beating allegations, they have never been credibly substantiated, unlike the abortion claims. It would appear from recorded comments made (while she was taking clonazepam/Klonopin) that Stevie did have at least one abortion, although the identity of the father/s is unclear. The allegations against Lindsey are different. They are merely hearsay.
What many Ledgies are unwilling to accept is that Lindsey may bear some responsibility for his own sacking. Yes, Stevie and Mick conspired against him, but he is not a completely innocent party in this. He did things which irritated other band members and he did these things knowing that they would be irritating... things like recording eight songs with Mick and John and assuming that Stevie would be happy and excited to contribute to those eight songs (when her mother had just died). Things like telling Christine "you can't just come and go", when she clearly had no intention of coming and going and was in it for the long haul... imagine how insulting that would feel, when you've bravely reached out an olive branch to your former colleagues and one of them throws it back in your face by implying they think you won't go the distance.
That's just two things he has done. Not to mention writing a tonne of lyrics about what a pain in the arse his former bandmate is. Lines like:
"In my world, everybody stays. Nobody wishes for words they couldn't say." (Everyone except Stevie cares about Fleetwood Mac. Nobody else wishes they could be capable of writing songs, the rest of us are great songwriters, but not you.)
"I won't lay down for free." (You may have given up on Fleetwood Mac, Stevie, but I haven't.)
"Dead on the ground, I am making a sound... I am too proud to drown..." (You've killed Fleetwood Mac, Stevie, but I'm going to single handedly resuscitate it.):rolleyes:
I actually thought those lines were about the deaths of his father and brother. In his world they wouldn't have died and he wouldn't be left with things he wished he had told them while they were still alive.

Abortions and wife beating. Well, if we’re just going to throw a bunch of character assassinating red herrings out for sh*ts and giggles…
Maybe Stevie had four abortions because the fathers were a bunch of a*$holes.
On the topic of Lindsey's violence, I can't help wondering what his kids must think when they hear these things about their father. It must be so awkward. I wonder, have they ever discussed it?
As for the father of Stevie's children, we know Don Henley was the dad at least once and I've heard from multiple sources he's a major jerk and womanizer.
