That's because Mick is a freaking idiot.
Please, fans are thrilled with this new line up. Can't you feel it in the air tonight? :]:]:]
What they're trying to tell you is that this "change" is like any other change they band had experienced. Because Lindsey didn't contribute to the band at all. We still have two songwriters....
Dates are added because they're already losing money and they will lose more once the concert dates approach and they will have to drop prices in order to sell the remaining tickets. But we're fine!!!!:thumbsup:
We're cool and we don't need Lindsey!
I still can't understand why he wants to go back with these idiots.

My understanding is that shows are generally canceled not added to if sales for a tour are so dire. Sure it isn't going to be as sought after as the last tour since it doesn't have the cache of Christine's big return. It wouldn't be if Lindsey were still there either. However, it isn't some sort of colossal failure as a few people here seem to want it to be. I am mystified about this attitude that "the band should just be over because my favorite member is no longer with them." It would be interesting to note if this attitude was present at all the points along the road where members were no longer there. Good grief, if they followed that philosophy there would be decades of music that never came to be and Christine, Bob, Stevie and Lindsey etc. would never have been in the band. If someone is displeased about this, I just don't see why they don't go focus on a band they still like rather than wanting the termination of an entire entity which so many still appreciate and are willing to pay to see and enjoy. I just don't get it, if a member of a band I liked was given notice I would never say that they should just end. I'd follow my person's solo work if they had it, I'd listen to the previous works they were featured on, their fans could still enjoy them in whatever incarnation they went forward with and I wouldn't waste time wishing they had disbanded and any opportunity for further works or performances from them would be lost. Life is too short for that.

This is not about "my favorite band member", it's about someone who was fired after 43 years of hard work. Not 2 or 3 years like Bob Welch. Not like Christine who chose to leave the band. Not like Stevie who I still see in the band doing what she wants.
You can name all members of the band. Lindsey's situation is unique. No one was in the band as longer as him and was fired, and didn't see it coming.
So, yeah, I want them to fail and to end this circus once and for all so I can see Lindsey on his solo tour. Of course what I want and what will happen are two entirely different things, and I'm not expecting you to understand it since you're not a Lindsey fan.
I'm just happy knowing they will have to work harder (more venues) to fill their pockets like they're used to.

Yes to this!
Hard to know if it's another case of LB perfectionism dragging things out and not realizing that less-than-perfect but timely is better than perfect but everyone else has moved on already. :(
I initially thought it was his perfectionism dragging things out because wasn't his album actually ready to be released or perhaps the record companies are to blame for the delay? My thought is he is lying low and not planning his tour anytime soon as I wonder if he is anxious about having to face the press perhaps. There is no doubt a bit of a smear campaign going on about him in the media, what with the nasty Washington Post 'biggest jerk' article and the Reelz documentary about Breaking the band that doesn't paint him in a wonderful light. I think he is just hiding in this studio as he loves to do and doesn't want to face the public if he can avoid it. I dunno, just a thought

And if Peter Green's fans had wanted them to cease to exist after he was gone and it had happened, you'd never know who Lindsey was (or Christine, or Bob or any of the other members who worked for the band over the years), and so many of the songs that you enjoy listening to would never have been. If you are upset with them, I totally get that. But for someone to wish that they never play another note? That seems so unfair to the people who still appreciate them. :( I truly hope that you get to see Lindsey and totally rock out and enjoy him. There are a lot of us who still want to see the band perform as well and it would be a shame if they just decided to quit doing what they do while they still have something to offer. Have a good afternoon ButtonLip, I hope the sun is shining where you are.

Then I can't even begin to imagine where Stevie would be....:lol:

And please, don't tell me it happened in 2015 because of Christine's return. I can count many sold outs before her return.

Yes, I am sure about that. Just because we disagree I don't think you're a bad person. Hopefully none of us have lost the ability to have a civil discussion around here. So yes, I am sure that I hope the sun is shining where you are and that you have a good day. Today I wish the sun was shining where I am. Days of rain and another gloomy morning, but I am looking forward to a beach trip in a couple of weeks, so that's nice. Also...the reason why I didn't bother to mention where Stevie would (or wouldn't!) be if the band had decided to close up shop after Peter was gone was that I know you wouldn't care if she'd ever had the opportunity to be in the band. ;) Therefore, I only spoke about Christine, Lindsey, Bob and the rest of the members through the years...

Yeah, well, you clearly didn't understand my question or chose not to, because it suits you better.
I was talking about your certainty of Lindsey being nowhere around the music business if it wasn't for FM. That was truly a good joke.

The last thing I said to you was to have a nice day, I assumed that was what you meant when the first thing you asked was if I was sure. Lindsey and Stevie may have made it musically in some capacity without the band, but I don't think it would be nearly to the extent that it is now. With being dropped from the label, reportedly they were very discouraged that a career in music was ever going to work out. Wasn't there talk about going back to school? As far as Bob, Christine and the rest of the crowd, I don't know what their prospects would have been if the band didn't exist and they had never been invited in, but I think it is safe to say it did considerable good in boosting everyone's profile in a way that would never have happened without it. This all goes back to the larger point that if the band had folded at any point along the way, we would have missed out on a lot of good people and songs.

Interesting story. My friend was with a friend of his who knows FM's manager. He said "here's what really happened" Now the story that was relayed to me is SO far fetched and obviously not true it makes me wonder about everything. He said the Mick Fleetwood retired so they needed a new drummer. Stevie was in the studio with Dave Grohl and asked his drummer if he would tour with them. He couldn't do it so they got someone else. When they were rehearsing the new drummer and LB were working some stuff out because LB had control of every nuance. LB was talking to the drummer about how Stevie shouldn't sing harmony on this particular song anymore because she couldn't hit the notes. The drummer thought he was being helpful and mentioned it to Stevie who GOT ENRAGED and went to FM's manager and said she would no longer tour with LB. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? This was actually told to me by my friend who is friends with FM's manager. I just laughed and said "um Mick is a money whore and will be touring until they day he drops" I then showed him the CBS interview with Mick in it and he could not believe how off the story was. I told him that he has to go back and straighten this out and find out how this person got that story? It's so off it's funny.

Yeah, so obviously this is not just about delaying a tour. Something most of us have known all along. The other sensibilities, as Mick said, came into play here. The most sensitive sensibilities left in FM were between Lindsey and Stevie. I honestly feel sorry for all the members of FM, and us, the fans, that it's come to this. Especially after all the **** this band has been through all these years. Most of us wanted a different finale. Damn, I'm still really sad about all of this. FM has been my band for SO MANY years and am not too happy with how things are seemingly turning out. The tragic story of FM continues.
On a happier note, the first song I heard when I tuned into Pandora was "Hypnotized"! A great way to start a Friday evening and weekend! Bob Welch should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with FM!

Richard should shut up. His role as the narrator of the FM eternal soap opera is starting to be embarrassing. Why is he doing it? No idea. But it's not helping.
And why isn't he asking Lindsey about his solo tour if he's now such good friends with him again? ;)
Why, should he shut up? That's surely a bit unkind. He's not in the best health so shutting his comments down is a little unnecessary. I find him a witty and endearing guy not embarrassing at all. Is he harming any body by tweeting this information, that to be honest we are interested in hearing since so little truth is being related about the band except from maybe KB.
Sure they are not bosom buddies anymore, but he was for the most part LBs best friend for years so he knows more than anyone what is going on with the band politically at the moment. He may know of LBs plans for a solo tour p, we don't know but he's not going to be foolish enough to relay information to this info without LBs blessing and before its public information. You can't say shut up to him and then expect him to tell you things only that YOU want to personally hear.

Eh, I don't think Chris could've necessarily stopped this from happening, it's been in motion for too long. She can always continue the BuckVie train with Lindsey during her off time from the band and keep her relationship with him on good terms. Plus, I can't see Lindsey wanting to take others down with him when his beef is just with Stevie and potentially Mick.
I still believe Stevie and Lindsey weren't necessarily great but on good terms from 2009 up until 2012. Obviously she wasn't thrilled with the recording process for Say You Will but once that tour was over I think she had the necessary time away from him to get some peace. When Lindsey really started pushing for new material, I think that's when it all started to turn sour. Her mother dying in 2012, Lindsey pushing for a new album, Chris coming back and Stevie no longer being the sole female attraction as she had been for the past decade, not as much time in between Mac projects to have the necessary space from Lindsey, potential jealousy because of the BuckVie album, Tom's death who was clearly an emotional rock for her, and then whatever happened early this year to push things off the cliff entirely.....not a great combo for someone of her nature that loves drama. Add that to the fact I'm sure Lindsey doesn't help the situation given how toxic their relationship can be. I can't see him sitting idly by and not pushing some buttons right back.
I still admire the woman for her contributions to the band and to rock music in general but as I've said, I think I'm done with the band for this era. It's just too sour for me and it's muddied the waters a bit too much for my taste. I'm more mildly curious to hear how they blend together musically but not enough to support them financially. Now if heaven and earth move and a final reunion happens, I'll be on board because I love this era of the band almost more than I love my family but until of if that happens, I still have my albums and my memories of tours past.

The issue I have with Chris, if this rumour is true, that even if she couldn't stopped this from happening, but Inpersonally feel she could have, then why did she apparently avoid all LBs calls when he was reaching out to her. Why would she personally not try and protect their relationship?
I also agree that SnL were genuinely in a good space around 2013 with the Lovefest tour....but when Christine returned, there was a real shift in their relationship and it rollercoastered from there

There's a reason why anybody's talking about his tour.

I know I don’t need to repeat myself but did I express my anger at him? No. And even if I did, it’s my right. My anger has nothing to do with him not telling anything about Lindsey’s solo tour because there’s honestly nothing to tell.
He fought with some fans years ago and he’s not giving any new info. We have already known everything he’s telling since before Lindsey was fired.

I was being sarcastic with my comment. If he were such good friends with Lindsey he would have already given us some kind of information on his tour. And yet, nothing. He talks and talks ... and talks. And so far he has given us what? Sorry but he sounds like a fan with sources to me.
Please don’t blame Christine McVie for what happened to Lindsey. After texting with Chris I am convinced that whatever went down between Stevie & Lindsey was to personal, complex, hurtful & deep for her to have affected the outcome in any meaningful way. She has a heavy heart...r

Believe me I was witness to many an intense argument between Stevie & Lindsey back in the early 70s when we were all living together. To get in the middle was a futile exercise in emotional hostage rescue with little positive results, usually leading in ones own self destruction.

This tweet annoyed me the most as no one is saying Chris shouldn't continue her career and play music but I believe if she stood her ground and dictated to Stevie and Mick that LB should never be fired because of a petty SnL personal issue then FM would still be in tact AND she could then go on to even contribute to a BuckVie 2 if she desired. Her career would have been better if she had not burnt her bridge with LB.

She WAS my Queen, for the majority of my life. When the stories came out that she kept Bob Welch out of the HOF, that broke my heart. But I did my best to give her a pass. I really did. Even though I suspected the worst(or began to).
Now her f*cking up this whole thing with Lindsey? Are you f*cking kidding me? She ain't no Superwoman. She's a corporate shill. Toeing the line, even when she knows it's WRONG. FM would have died 30 years ago without Lindsey.
She deserves to have to put up with Old Goat Breath, night after night, listening to her endless bleating.

It sounds like Christine is between a rock and a hard place. She was in limbo for so many years and knows she doesn't have a whole lot of time left to tour and make music. Maybe John doesn't want to do this anymore. So the battle between Stevie and Lindsey is one it's best not to get in the middle of. She may have feared she would be out too. Who knows, maybe she and Lindsey have talked and he told her it's ok. We don't know everything. I'm glad Richard has at least tried to find out some truth for us fans. And he's known them forever.

Sounds like the argument between Stevie and Lindsey got so out of hand that he said something so bad that not even Chistine could defend him or stay on his side.
I guess we all know that Lindsey can be mean, perhaps he simply went too far this time.
Still - they should have called it quits, then - and not turn this band into the travesty it is now.
Or - as people in their 70s, they could have taken a break and then talk it out after everyone calmed down, like adults do.

That said, WHO made FM who they are? How did they do with Behind The Mask and Time? He IS the creative force that turned average songs into cream that floated to the top. I couldn't stand Billy Burnette and his rockabilly guitar playing. I thought Rick was somewhat enjoyable but a bit too generic. Love is Dangerous probably would have been a decent single for the band. Neil Finn is boring asf but I don't have a problem with Mike Campbell being in FM since they are forcing him on us anyways. But I hope after this tour is completed they chuck these two new guys and do and say whatever it takes to woo Lindsey back for a final FM tour as had been promised by every FM band member for the last two years.

I think it should be remembered that the McVies' relatively easy-come easy-go temperament is surely the very reason why they have managed to stay with this band since the beginning, blithely withstanding the neurotic intensity of Mick and all the frontmen with naught but the occasional raised eyebrow. In the BuckVie promo vids it seems to fans that Lindsey and Chris are on the same wonderful page, but in reality, or when push comes to shove, the McVies are humming at a whole different frequency to the rest of them. This goes both ways though: unlike Mick, Stevie and Lindsey, Chris usually cuts to the chase and doesn't seem to like BSing in interviews, so although she wasn't uber loyal enough to Lindsey to somehow quit the tour in protest, she wasn't loyal enough to the others to keep from displaying frustration with their BS answers, and even at times vocally contradicting them.

Richard isn’t saying that. He’s not saying Lindsey said something so bad to delicate flower Stevie that she got him fired. I agree and I expect this or something very similar is fact. The band didn't all wish for Lindsey to be fired, they simply made the choice to support Stevie over him.... And if she would only remain in the band without him in it then that is what the band all shockingly sided with

Something happened at Musicares and he yelled at Karen (who cares?) but he did not tell Stevie she couldn’t sing anymore.
Regardless of what happened at Musicares, he was fired a couple of days later and MC was already aware of what was going on, so Lindsey’s firing had already been in motion that day.

Regardless of what happened at Musicares, he was fired a couple of days later and MC was already aware of what was going on, so Lindsey’s firing had already been in motion that day.
It's shameful how premeditated this all was, like Stevie was just full of ammunition ready to strike on Lindsey as soon as he did the smallest thing...
So do we have any idea how he was told... A phone call from Mick or directly through his management or lawyer?

I’m in agreement here, arguments in this band especially between Stevie and Lindsey are the norm.
But I think he was led into the canyon here....
I think he was hijacked big time, and he never saw it coming !!!
Stevie wanted him gone, gone out if her life, full stop.Gone.
So, when just a normal bust up happens she cries ...Me or Him
I think it was premeditated and he was totally bowled over ...
Very sad...I wonder why after all these years....

Obviously the rest of the band sided with Stevie for a good reason, i dont think any of them wanted their long running legacy to end this way.. SN and LB always had a hot and cold relationship from day dot, the forever non stop bickering is quite normal to them.. Reading between Richards comments, LB crossed the line to no return this time.. I have no doubt Stevie really pissed him off and decided to not hold back, which led to this sad debacle..
I am just going to throw this out their as I've thought this from the start, i could be wrong but here goes :)
After listening to Stevie's long speech at Musicares award night, she referred mostly about Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, and a lot about herself as usual .. That didn't worry me at all, but from the bands perspective they were up their collecting an award for FM.. So what i am getting at i think her long winded speech really annoyed LB, maybe from the side of the stage Karen could sense him getting really agitated.. She blabbed to Stevie afterwards, which led to the massive argument.. Obviously Stevie still grieving from Tom's recent passing, and anything said in a negative way towards TP or her speech, was not going to be tolerated ever in her books.. It all just escalated from there..

She ambushed him, yes. At Musicares. But everything was already in motion before that night.
Who? Lindsey? He was told in a meeting. No idea who was present or what was said. Many of us have been trying to find out that piece of info to no avail. But what I know is that it wasn't pretty at the end.

He never saw it coming. I'm still trying to understand why now. Maybe because it was their last tour (at least for Christine) and she wanted to ruin it for him.

The rest of the band didn't side with Stevie. Promoters of the tour did. 20 to 1, in fact. So the rest had no choice really.
Lindsey has been ignoring her stupid remarks, like the Bob Dylan one, for more than 20 years, and Richard also said before that this was a power play and Stevie won. You can read from that statement that she knows her value in the band and decided to use it. He's not saying she was a victim there.
Your theory could be a fan fiction. Really.

And this is just speculation, wishful thinking or the truth? If it’s the last one, please share all the details. We’re all eagerly waiting...
It is just as much speculation as all the other stuff slinging around here. A band of five people oust one member. He must have done SOMETHING to lead to that. Something that motivated the other four to kick him out despite his years of contributions, key to their successes, etc. Something.

Majority rules. That was what Mick said.
And why did he necessarily “must have done something” to be ousted? They lied with the tour delay and threw him under the bus so why cover him if he had done something bad?

I agree, they are all big liars, and if they had something they could say that Lindsey did that was so AWFUL to warrant his firing, you can bet $tevie would have said that in the media. She would have played the sympathy card, woe is me, etc.
So they spun a lie, that was complete fabrication, about Lindsey wanting to delay the tour.
Here's a thought.......it appears that Stevie had things in the works with Mike by the time Music Cares came around. How do we know that she didn't bait Lindsey into some kind of argument that allowed her to claim "foul" and get him kicked out so that Mike could join? We all know that they both know exactly how to push each other's buttons........
This could explain Lindsey being blindsided by the firing. It was no different that many other big fights that they had in the past. The difference was that this time Stevie had a big-a$$ plan in place

I wonder just how much power Chris and John have in the band. In the beginning. Yes. Lots of power. But as the years have gone by, Stevie became the powerful one. Her success with her solo work made sure of that. I think that power started to come into play when Billy and Rick joined the group. You had several solo Stevie songs in the set. It always comes down to money in the end. I think the band thought, if Stevie goes, there will be no tour and Stevie used that power to get rid of Lindsey. I agree, if Lindsey did something so terrible, why wouldn't they just say so. I would love to know what the argument was between Lindsey and Stevie.

If Lindsey had done something so terribly wrong to Stevie, Chris wouldn't have a heavy heart about his departure, as was posted in RD's tweet. It was simply an atypical argument between two ex lovers, that have never really settled their feelings towards each other. I'd say Stevie made the ultimatum that it's me or him, because she wants to be happy for the next ten years. And with Stevie being the bigger draw for a paying audience, money won. AND, with Mike Campbell and Neil Finn waiting in the wings Lindsey became a disposable commodity.

What strikes me as odd, is that they gave conflicting information.
First Lindsey delayed the tour. Then, other comments spilled out.. "I want to be happy."
whoops... $he let that $lip out.. so much subtext in that comment. and then the comment about the set list. And then... recording new music! (the nerve)
So you had your "official reason" and then you had your subtext coming out in other interviews. We want to be happy. Records don't sell. I don't know what Christine and Lindsey's premise for their album is.
So which is it? You wanted to be happy, or you wanted to tour RIGHT AWAY!!??
Because $he always wants to record and tour RIGHT AWAY. $HE NEVER delays Fleetwood Mac.
I've never seen 5 people more full of sh** than this band.

I honestly don't think he or anyone did anything that was different or a stand out. I've never thought any of this was about some particular thing that happened that made it so that they can't go anymore. While I'll admit I don't know what the details were I really believe it was a matter of more than one thing all together with the ongoing tension between them over a new album (him wanting it and her not) and then his solo side tour plans which undoubtably pissed her off because she's always liked to say that she never lets her solo career interfere with FM (which is crap but she says it) being the main at fault. Stevie just didn't want to deal with it so she pulled a power move and the promoters obviously went with her so that was that basically.

I don't think they have much power at all. I really think Stevie has basically all of the power these days. Back when they made albums and cared about it because albums sold, Lindsey had loads of power because he's the main one that made the albums. But it's changed a lot since then and they mostly just care about touring to get money. And Stevie is the one who puts butts in seats on tours.

While I am convinced that Mike was a contributor of the pre planned remove LB from FM conspiracy, I genuinely don't believe Neil was involved at all. He wasn't employed until two months later and he wasn't the first additional singer/guitarist they asked at all. He was just the gullible and foolish one that said yes in March/April.

So, you think that because of whatever Lindsey said or did he was fired? After 43 years of endless and repetitive fights?
Christine chose Mick's side, not Lindsey's.
It seems possible to me.
Christine not choosing Lindseys side is kinda validating that idea.

This was a power move indeed more than a “Lindsey said or did something so awful than all 4 of them fired him”.

Well, according to her she didn’t choose anything. She found out when she returned from UK. And she said Lindsey was ready for rehearsals in that CBS interview with Anthony Mason.
If according to RD she has a heavy heart, she’s not ok with whatever happened. So, yeah, not everybody is on Stevie and Mick’s side.

True, but I believe that Mick had established a working relationship with Neil a few years ago. Just saying that he had to cross, at least Mick's mind, in part, as a male singer/songwriter that could possibly take Lindsey's place.

There was definitely something extraordinarily calculated about this entire fiasco.
I really don't hold Mike or Neil accountable--they took a gig, and by all accounts, while they may respect Lindsey as an artist and musician, doesn't seem they are friends. However, Chris, Mick, Stevie and john---can't say the same.

Whatever went down, the end result doesn't help the character or credibility of any of them. They may not care about that, however I do think they would care about the legacy (their own and the bands) if in fact this is the farewell tour. Truly sad state of affairs all the way around.

Interviewer: Right. And prior to that, you thought the tour was going to be with Lindsey?
Mick: Well, we didn't...
Christine: Yes.
Mick: ...know we had a tour. That was, is, part of the problem in terms of where it became a total impasse. ...
I know we're not supposed to post in The Record thread (which I think is a terrific and worthwhile idea, kudos!), but given that we're talking about Christine here, I thought I'd pull this over from there. The above is from the Rolling Stone travesty of an interview from April, and I think it's my favorite part, if there can be such a thing from that mess.
I agree with most of you that Christine bears some responsibility for not speaking up, if she felt like Lindsey's firing was unjust. I think the argument that she was "newly returned" to the band and therefore had less of a say than she would have had she never left is a bleak thought, but who knows? Maybe that is how she felt.
Regardless, I love that she is one of the only members of this band that can give a direct answer to a question. "Were you supposed to be touring with Lindsey?" "Yes." Thank you, moving on.
