On Sirius Volume Channel 106, the Rolling Stone Music Now hour long podcast is playing audio of the interviews from the "Life After Lindsey" magazine article. I only heard a bit of it on my lunch break but there is definitely stuff not used in the article, not sure whether there is really any new details in there besides just the tone of their voices as they answer. The only question I heard was one to Stevie asking what she will miss the most about Lindsey which lead to a long winded answer recounting their shared history going back to BN.
Looks like it will be broadcast again tonight at 8pm ET

 Yeah Stevie, give it a rest. If anything good comes Buckingham getting ejected from the band, it'll be not having to hear any more sappy lovey dovey Stevie Linds stories. But brace yourself for the how much Mike and I miss Tom ones.........

People will be clamoring for the Gypsy intro after they hear the 17 minute Stop Dragging May Heart Around story. It’ll be longer than the old World Turning/drum solos.

I know. I never thought I could hate her as much as I do right now. She's really on board of the revenge train with Lindsey. She truly can't stand him. :distress:

If you go on the sirius website or app you can listen to this now. It should be under the on demand section. Mike Campbell & Stevie talked about playing Stop Draggin on the tour and they asked Neil Finn if they would do any Crowded House songs and she said yes and it sounds like she is saying hey now hey now so I am assuming they will be doing Dont Dream It’s Over.
They asked her what she will miss most about Lindsey and she said those early years were amazing and then talked about joining fm etc and she respects who they are and what they did and it will always be a part of her heart. Their relationship was never easy and it was always voilatile and always about the music. Its like old married couples and it’s hard and she is sad and she just wants to be happy. She sings around her house and wants that youthful feeling again and she feels it now like she is 20 and this is the beginning of something happy and everyone in this room is happy. Neil likes playing World Turning and Christine said he nailed it. Neil & Christine get along well.
Mick said there was no doubt to move on after Lindsey way gone and it needed a lot if thought. It had to be heartfelt and really right for the legacy. There were huge convos about it and it was challenging.
Mick said fired is ugly and not a happy situation and a muscle memory of being hugely not fun. It wasn’t about why couldn’t they wait for him and said they planned the tour for a long time and majority rules. Stevie said he wanted to put off tour and he had a lot of other things he wanted to do.
Christine was surprised to hear the news it sort of happened aftter she got back to London and then the decision was made and she completely understood why and life moves on and she wanted to carrying on playing with everybody. Said she enjoyed making the album with Lindsey and touring with him.

You are so welcome I hope it makes sense. I was typing so fast there was so much to digest.
They mentioned doing Stand Back on the tour and Stevie said if an uptempo song was needed. Johh says he feels very comfortable with new members and it fits. It’s a new exciting chapter in the saga.

Thank you for typing this out!
But it's all such a gross manipulation of the truth it honestly breaks my heart... i don't know if I'll ever be able to look at the band members the same way again knowing how they've gone about this.
And I NEED Lindsey to just a make statement saying what he actually wanted.
i thought it was interesting they were all using exact same words and phrasing as in CBS interview. it was like a play, played again and again.
they will do for sure they said:
Don't Dream it's Over (i never doubted that as they used it as a hook in CBS footage)
Don't Stop Draggin
Oh Well
World Turning
maybe Stand Back - if they need an uptempo song
first song they tried all together was Say You Love Me
Stevie kept insisting that Christine wrote Station Man. Christine said huh, that was Danny Kirwan. then Stevie kept insisting that Christine sings most of that song. Christine again says no. Stevie then continues talking over Christine (she kept doing that every time Christine would open her mouth), and says whatever.
Mick says something about he and Stevie having to talk John into voting with them, that they had tons of back and forth conversations, the 3 of them, and they reached the decision. Christine says she didn't know about it and was surprised when they told her, but whatever, life goes on, she fully understands when Mick explained it all to her. yes she had great time with Lindsey making an album and on the road most of last year, but whatever life goes on. (is she on tranquilizers?)
Mick was his a$$hole self. i won't comment on Stevie, i'll let people listen and draw their own conclusions. we've heard again all the stories about her and Lindsey opening for Janis in front of 15000 people and her being cleaning lady.
interesting change - the package deal story changed (ha!) - Stevie was telling the story, in about 3 different ways, and basically Mick called "us" and then Christine had to accept her, and if she didn't, Lindsey wouldn't be in the band either because, well, package deal. but she said at least 3 times that Mick invited "us". i had to laugh. that FM didn't want her but just Lindsey and he insisted she comes in with him too must really bother her.
oh yeah we've heard also how Stevie knows "everything" about all incarnations of FM, and then she tried to describe them (because remember, she listened to all their albums when Mick invited "them"), and it was painful to listen to, very similar to the Station Man thing.
again, Mick and Stevie blamed Lindsey for the years of the same setlists (apparently they don't understands there are old interviews by both of them insisting they have to do only hits), but hey now they are free to do all that great old blues stuff.
they need to rehearse at least 2 months because hey now - their setlist will be so fresh so they will need more than just 4-5 weeks they'd need if Lindsey was still there.
oh and Stevie and Lindsey were never married, but this is like a divorce. (same phrasing as CBS interview and what ended up written in RS).
a lot of what they said ended up in the RS article, and you already know it. but it was interesting to listen the tone of voices, Stevie talking over everybody, etc.
Neil Finn seemed cool. like interviewer said, Mike Campbell seemed disengaged.
John said one sentence, that Mick is going by the principle the band always must push on - never surrender!
RS interviewer said it was awkward interview. that he kept wanting to know about the guy not in the room, while he was faces with all these people, 6 of them, in some kind of small trailer. he said that Lindsey comes across as much less mercenary than the rest of these people.
both RS interviewers' commentary that book-ended actual band interview was the most interesting part, since the interview we can see on CBS and read in RS, mostly. they commented about that Stevie cover interview they did back in the middle of the OWTS tour. the interviewer at the time said that putting her on the cover alone without the band certainly wasn't his first choice, but he was (not clear by whom?) talked into it since she is the face of the band, and had her solo album out or something like that, and that Mick certainly was clearly pi**ed about it at the time.
about all i can remember right now.
oh and the guy who interviewed them said that Mick is basically an HR manager, just making sure they have enough hires that the band goes on. that was funny.
they concluded by saying that this almost seems like a new band version to have some new story to tell in order to sell the tickets on this tour, and then they fully expect the big reunion farewell tour with Lindsey. they kept referring to them something like the band that calls themselves Fleetwood Mac these days.
my 0.02 - if this is so they'd look fresh and have a new story, why are they hiding behind a penguin picture with the band members' names around it in small print? wouldn't they want the nice new fresh band picture on TM so that everyone can see who is in the band?????

I just listened to most of the band interview and I kind of want to cry now lol.
I love Stevie so much, if it had never been for me being so dazzled by Stevie Nicks I never would have become a fan of Fleetwood Mac to begin with. But this interview the things she said, it's just all SO transparent and obvious. I never in a billion years thought I would ever feel so negatively towards her? She's annoyed me sure but I honestly just feel really negatively about her now after listening to this and the CBS interview it's upsetting.
That goes for Mick too but I never loved Mick to begin with.

Stevie acting like she feels so intensely about giving an ode to pre-1975 FM when she clearly hasn't listened to it enough to know that Christine did not write or even sing Station Man LOL.

These people after they interviewed FM im in awe because they literally didn't believe one word that came from FM and they keep calling it awkward and bizarre and saying how key Lindsey Buckingham was to their sound and how they're acting like that wasn't the case TEA.

Christine: That's not my song it's Danny's
Stevie: Well whatever song, YOU sang it
Christine: No no. Any ways.

Why is Stevie out here saying Lindsey never performed pre buckingham nicks fleetwood mac songs like do u want me to pull up Lindsey covering Oh Well 74839 times, Station Man, Hypnotized and The Green Manalishi
It's honestly wild how they're treating Lindsey like just another guitar player like BHRFNEDKJSL especially stevie y'all have literally known each other for 50 years i GENUINELY cannot believe this
Why does hearing Stevie talk in these interviews make me wanna die, get so angry and just heartbroken all at the same time

Mick has always been Mick, always business first, always keeping Fleetwood Mac going. Basically, Peter Green, his hero and mentor, had an ultimatum in 1970: it was him or the money. Mick went with the money. Over Peter Green. Let that sink in. So, I don’t have much expectation of him beyond that. I don’t think he’s a terrible person, but he’s definitely business first. The other thing he loves is Fleetwood Mac, except when it stopped being viable and he already reconnected with Lindsey, which was more viable than keeping the Time band going.

We all know that's exactly what they don't want.
All old bands (should I say brands?) count on the
casual fans that don't keep up with this ____ like
we do to buy those expensive tickets.
That's who I feel sorry for the most. The ones that
go to the show not knowing about Lindsey's firing.
There will be many disappointed fans.
This brand is tarnished.

Stevie then continues talking over Christine (she kept doing that every time Christine would open her mouth), and says whatever.
In Stevie’s defense, it’s credited to Danny, Jeremy, and John, and Christine was clearly singing in the mix. Also, Jeremy Spencer said that it was actually Christine, not John, who had a hand in writing the song. (Remember, Christine was still Blue Horizon property, so there may have been legal reasons for it, and giving credit to John would have sent the royalty check to the right address, but who knows?)

No. She’s not happy about it. She likes the new guys, and wants to be a team player, but she had to be seriously pissed, if not embarrassed. They did it behind her back because they knew she’d be completely against it. However, Christine isn’t about to quit the band again. That said, I also wouldn’t be surprised if another LBCM project comes to fruition. She’s gone out of her way to talk Lindsey up and is making it clear she had nothing to do with the band’s decision, and Mick’s version of events supports that.
Neil Finn seemed cool.
He’s a hell of a musician, and I’m absolutely blown away he’s in Fleetwood Mac. Like, he’s really the most compelling part of the band, IMO. Actually, I’d love to see a LMJCN version of the band, but that’s never going happen.

She makes no sense at all, but okay. At least she aknowledges that she had a good time with Lindsey. Also - she just said that she has zero influence or even input on Fleetwood Mac. Mick and Stevie make the decisions, she is not even asked. And Stevie was respectless in the interview, talking aon and on over Christine. Nice to know how the band works. I'm just more disgusted now.

I personally don't think it's true that she just 'didn't know' because it happened while she was in London. First of all, telephones exist. Second of all, I think that's just part of the story they're going with to make themselves look as innocent as possible: "Lindsey insisted on delaying the tour so he just had to go, it was all him, Christine didn't even know about it". Their lies are painfully obvious.

I agree that Christine plays the innocence card, but the inner band hierarchy seems to allow for that, noone calls her out like "It was your decision, too". She is a bystander and everyone's okay with that.

I don’t mean to beat a dead horse or be rude, but i never liked the Heartbreakers or Crowded House. They r not in the same league as FM, Roxy Music, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bruce, Neil Young, or even Cheap Trick or even When in Rome fercryingoutloud not to mention 1000 other 70s and 80s bands. I would have been intrigued by Chris Isaak whose albums are not necessarily my favs but which I do think are the most beautifully produced American albums.
But these two additions make me ill even beyond the betrayal of Lindsey.

I seem to be in the minority, at least compared with the most frequent posters in the rumours forum, but I'm quite excited about this new line-up. If there needed to be a change from the Rumours 5, then Mike and Neil are inspired choices for the type of audiences that FM will want to be reaching out to. I don't think I'll be going to any shows (I need my holidays more than I need FM shows right now) but I'll be interested to hear how the tour progresses.
Regardless of went on behind the scenes, my feeling is that the No1 priority for all remaining members is getting out on tour asap, whilst they are still are still healthy enough to do so.
There is a magic to the performances with the classic 5 line-up, but there might just be a different kind of magic with this new line-up. I appreciate Lindsey fans are angry, but I also appreciate why this change may have been necessary - I think the tensions within the band built to a point where it just became difficult to work together.

Yes, Christine had a hand in writing Station Man, though I'm sure the bulk of the song was by Danny.
In the same way, Jewel Eyed Judy from the same album was written by Danny Kirwan, Jenny Fleetwood and Christine McVie but credited to Danny, Mick and John.

One thing that strikes me in hearing this play out - there was a vote. And on something as major as this, a crazy thing must have happened. Apparently the entire communication structure (phones, internet, telegraph service, etc) must have been out of order in London. How is it that Christine was not included in a vote on this, yet she was included on the vote that put Lindsey and the whole package deal into place? Her vote was needed then, but not now? Seriously?

Omg more of these same old stories that she somehow tries to tie back to the question asked....
Lindsey probably didn't want to do the older blues stuff because he probably felt there were songs of their own they could dust off and try, that hadn't been done before!! But now she's ok with Station Man etc after HOW MANY comments about people coming for the hits...
Lindsey should seriously just keep quiet for the next 6 months and let them really embarrass themselves.
Critics will eat them alive if they do stop dragging, stand back, and don't dream it's over. This is Mick Fleetwoods All Star Band, not Fleetwood Mac.

Sounds like it was a series of individual votes and Christine wasn't extended the courtesy. Mick and or Stevie made the decision, ran it by John and then delivered the news to Chris. They banked on the fact she wouldn't want to leave again, totally taking advantage of her and any insecurities about being new to the band again.
Regarding Stevie talking over Chris, she's just a rude out of control egomaniac. There's not a way to say it any nicer.

Lindsey doesn't seem to be sensitive to this issue.
He doesn't seem willing to accept the fact the FM tour needs to be planned around Stevie's tour schedule.
This is probably this last FM tour that will include all four of the remaining members. I'm sure all four are quite anxious to have this tour begin as soon as possible. Every delay, increases the chances that someone's health will fail.
Lindsey is in good health. He can record solo albums and do solo tours for the next 20 years.

ITA!
I personally don't like anything that The Heartbreakers ever did, they are soooo boring to my ears. Crowded House, well, generic or something. I do believe that Lindseys enormous edgy energy was the difference between FM and any other Oldies band. And I can't see how the comparative sleepyheads can wake up the band or the audience like he did in a life concert.
And there is still the total lack of respect towards Lindsey and the fans who followed the Five Fireflies over the decades. I can't seem to get over that.

Yeah I think Chris is full of it and is trying to stay neutral....when she went back to London was it 1850 there? Give me a break...

here's what's interesting: it's not Lindsey fans that are the most angry about all of this.
i run fb LB group, as some may know. the people who are the most disappointed and the loudest are people who used to be huge Stevie fans and are now seeing her as something they never thought she would become. and BN fans who loved the relationship story permeating so many of this era FM songs. or rumours-era FM fans (vast majority, if you do the math 1975 was a very long time ago, people born after rumours 5 became a band are now in their 40s) who love all 5 and their magic together.
Lindsey fans are on the fence. of course his fans acutely sense the betrayal that Lindsey must feel. the non-respect, unequal treatment and non-appreciation of him by the band - because it's money money money for Mick (like someone here said - when it was between money and Peter Green, he chose money). most of us are not nearly as disappointed in SN, because we never thought that much of her anyway. if we already had some ambivalence about Mick, that now turned into complete disdain. we are worried whether LB is now, when not having the mac machine behind him, vulnerable to little industry games by managers and label that was always a part of messing his output since the mid 90s, because it is obvious that while he may be musical genius he has no business sense whatsoever., and people who he hires to do that part for him seem to be all wrong.
but we are ecstatic that finally - finally! - he is not wasting the little time he has left (you know, 10+ years ) with the stuck in a rut band, trying to push the rock up the hill against the bitter ex who keeps putting weight on that rock, to show him who's the boss now.
he can create now as fast as he wants to, release new music, and bring back into spotlight and on the road his gems from the last 20+ years that had stayed in the shadows because of his relative anonymity. he doesn't have to waste years he doesn't have anymore on the road rehashing old hits just so Mick can fill his coffers, his output in this century has been incredible, and he's on the top of his game. so no, Lindsey fans are just worried that he'll not get his new music out there and will just sit on it like he did at the time of OOTC and GOS. we are worried that instead of getting out there, he'll sit back and wait till this blows over, and that he's probably willing, with the right amount of grovelling to go back to the band that has been the masterpiece of his life's work. i really hope he stays solo from now on (no joining ABBA please!) pushes out all his solo projects now as fasts as possible, and/or does some interesting collaborations with all the different artists who are salivating for the chance to collaborate with him (although he should seek out people, like Bowie always did, instead of sitting back and just saying yes when people to come to him!).
anyway, from this Lindsey fan......... because i saw several times being brought up that "lindsey fans are upset" so hope this helps you see the more rounded picture. of all the different groups of FM fans who are upset now, Lindsey fans are just a small fraction.

Someone called Christine a bystander. That sounds right. My assumption is that Mick and Stevie put the machinery in motion for firing Lindsey and by the time she was “consulted” she didn’t feel confident enough with her own band status to contradict them. She, like Mick and Stevie, isn’t averse to big tour money either. But most of all, she feels loyalty to Mick, who helped her overcome her isolation and fear and reintroduced her to the life she loved and missed. More than anyone in the band, she clings to him. Stevie treats her like an adorable pet she is glad to have back.
Seriously?
yes. the vote seemed to have been Mick and Stevie talking John into it. 3 of them talking a lot, according to Mick. not even trying to consult Christine. until they had 3 votes and it was done. then they "explained" it to her and now she "fully understands". it seems John was not as quick to "understand," but they "worked" on him. at least he had a say.
But most of all, she feels loyalty to Mick, who helped her overcome her isolation and fear and reintroduced her to the life she loved and missed. More than anyone in the band, she clings to him. Stevie treats her like an adorable pet she is glad to have back.
sounded more like who she is annoyed to have back in her way, and tries to just shut off.

He doesn't seem willing to accept the fact the FM tour needs to be planned around Stevie's tour schedule.
And there it is. Because of course the world revolves around Stevie. There is no further proof of her outrageous sense of self-importance. Stevie > Fleetwood Mac.
we are worried that instead of getting out there, he'll sit back and wait till this blows over, and that he's probably willing, with the right amount of grovelling to go back to the band that has been the masterpiece of his life's work.
As much as I like the band (the five of them), I hope he NEVER goes back again. After this stunt and the crap way they are handling it, even if Mick were penniless living on the street with a reformed Rumors-era Mac as his only saving grace to earn some coin to live his last years with some dignity, that Lindsey would tell them all to GFY's. He'd have to require some sort of formal apology and it won't happen. Mick Jagger did this to Keith Richards before he agreed to do any more shows in 2012 and beyond for the Stones 50th. He forced Keith to apologize for saying Mick had a "tiny todger" in Keith's autobiography. I just can't see this happening and if nothing else, hopefully Kristen Buckingham would tell Lindsey "you don't need this, you don't need them, you certainly don't need her, nor the money....F them...let's just enjoy our life and do what we want to do!"
At this stage of the game, for them to do this is truly unimaginable. They rode this man's coattails for years and years. His solo work became band albums/tours. He provided energy and life to their live shows that the other two singers simply could never bring, especially in the "modern era" starting in 1997. Christine seemed bored to tears during The Dance tour and you could see she was done. Stevie's voice has continued to decline substantially since that time and her stage presence has become very dull, except of course for her ridiculous Gold Dust Woman dance or story time. Even old Mick has slowed down a lot...check out the tempo on Go Your Own Way from 1997-2004 and compare it to 2014-15. Lindsey, despite his increasingly declined vocal abilities, has been used over the last 20+ years to keep the band as an energetic force in concert and not just a bunch of old bumps on a log croaking out their greatest hits on the county fair or summer shed tour circuits.
And there it is. Because of course the world revolves around Stevie. There is no further proof of her outrageous sense of self-importance. Stevie > Fleetwood Mac.
UGH. Nothing made my blood boil more in that CBS interview when she gave her 'serious look' (you know the one, she's been giving it for years when she wants to make a point...like how being in Fleetwood Mac is like being in the army ) and was referencing her solo career and how in that situation, "I'm the boss!" OMG F YOU LADY! WHO CARES!?
She is a complete narcissist and egotistical jerk who in her old age has become totally intolerable and more full of herself than even seems normal by celebrity standards.

That CBS interview was a sickening experience all around. My remaining vestige of respect for the band plummeted to absolute nil. That was the point of no return for me.
And it did not surprise me in the least that in this most inappropriate of circumstances she would mention her solo career. Because she really believes it's all about her. Didn't she say Fleetwood Mac exists only because of her? Well, she is doing her best to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.

Listening now. It all comes across as so defensive and uncomfortable. Mick's endless, rambling answers, rarely ever getting to the point and often mangling the Queen's English, make it exhausting to listen to...
I echo what someone wrote earlier - the band has just thrown away its edge, its purpose. Neil and Mike seem very nice, very talented and so on, but it's going to be so vanilla.Lindsey is such a volatile, sparky presence - it's what has always made his music so extraordinary. That unpredictable, febrile quality. He has it in his singing, his guitar playing, his arranging and producing - it is what sets him apart and has always set FM apart from so many other groups.

This situation reminds me so much of when LeBron James left the Cleveland Cavaliers a few years back. I happened to be in Cleveland the night he announced he was leaving Cleveland for Florida, and man, were fans furious! They were saying horrible things about him, his children, you name it. And they were very irrational. Some would say Cleveland was better off without him and in the next breath say they hated him for leaving. Fans were bragging about burning his jersey, claiming he was actually holding the Cavs back, all kinds of things, and that they would never forget how he betrayed Cleveland and the fans. How selfish he was for only thinking about himself and not the fans. And then of course he was welcomed back to Cleveland with open arms a year or two later.
I just think it's interesting how similar the two situations are. Not exactly the same, of course, but very similar. LeBron James had the right to move to Florida, it's his life and he shouldn't have to live for the fans. Likewise, they have the right to be angry with him, but the personal attacks on the radio programs the night of his announcement and the next day were insane. Well, like the personal attacks on this board.

This is exactly why I keep wondering if LB got dropped by Azoff before or after getting booted from the band.
I don’t necessarily believe the split was about conflicts in tour scheduling, and I don’t think Lindsey would be inflexible about doing a concurrent solo tour to the point of letting himself get fired. Now, I could see Stevie feeling life’s too short, but I don’t see her seriously using that as a motivating factor in breaking up the classic lineup. She could always travel separately if she couldn’t stand being in the same room as the guy.
I think there was blowback from the Classic shows, and the industry guys let it be known that Lindsey was now a financial liability for the band. The ONLY way I see Mick letting go of the classic lineup is that it was going to hurt the bottom line.

Yep. That's why they keep saying "majority rules."
"Three is a majority. Therefore, we didn't need to consult you, because the decision did not need to be unanimous."
Unspoken: Don't like the decision, Christine? Tough *****.
But hey, looks like she's willing to sing the praises of the new Fleetwood Mac, so it all turned out alright for "the majority" in the end.

I think she was left in an awkward position. I'm sure she probably thinks the whole situation is sh!t but what can she do? She might fancy Buckingham McVie 2 but I think its pretty clear this is all about Lindsey wanting to focus on his solo work. He might also be up for BuckVie 2 but that would have had to have been for the distant future. She's left with the decision; Be principled, leave the band and end up doing nothing. Or show loyalty to Mick and stick it out. I hope through all of this she's been in touch with Lindsey at some point, somehow.

i thought it was interesting they were all using exact same words and phrasing as in CBS interview. it was like a play, played again and again.
they will do for sure they said:
RS interviewer said it was awkward interview. that he kept wanting to know about the guy not in the room, while he was faces with all these people, 6 of them, in some kind of small trailer. he said that Lindsey comes across as much less mercenary than the rest of these people.
both RS interviewers' commentary that book-ended actual band interview was the most interesting part, since the interview we can see on CBS and read in RS, mostly. they commented about that Stevie cover interview they did back in the middle of the OWTS tour. the interviewer at the time said that putting her on the cover alone without the band certainly wasn't his first choice, but he was (not clear by whom?) talked into it since she is the face of the band, and had her solo album out or something like that, and that Mick certainly was clearly pi**ed about it at the time.
about all i can remember right now.
my understanding of the Sirius interview, given that it is on the Rolling Stone channel, is that it is the actual recording of the interview out of which they wrote up the printed article.
So the recording lets you hear everything that was said, not just what they condensed into the written article. That would explain why certain parts are verbatim, because those are the parts pulled out for the written article.
But I'm fascinated by the bits left out. Thank you so much elle for reporting on that. I'm still working on getting to hear it for myself.
It seems like more than just people related to the band are checking what's been said about all this online, and perhaps (hopefully) are following up on the info they are seeing so SOMEBODY somewhere will write an insightful piece about the crap going on.
That said, a really good, meaningful article would need to have input from Lindsey's side to be balanced. I'm sure people are calling him relentlessly for interviews, comments, whatever. Initially in articles it was reported that calls to his agent were met with a comment to contact the band's management/PR. When they did contact the band's people, the band person said they hadn't figured out a way to get ahold of Lindsey. Circular nonsense.
There is more to be written about this. A good article would also be dependent on seeing how the tour actually turns out and whether people put their money where their mouth is or the tour sells out.

Lindsey was no doubt the architect of the classic Fleetwood Mac's sound. Without him they will become ordinary and pedestrian .I am actually a fan of Neil Finn but he will skew the dynamic of the band to the bland .He is a good writer of melodic soft rock..Fleetwood Mac already has one of those. The edge and eccentricity that Lindsey brought is what elevated them to greatness. If they release another album which I believe they will health withstanding Stevie's work will be indistinguishable from her solo career and the rest will be pretty middle of the road.

The tour will sell out because the casual fan doesn't know the difference. They are hiding what happened with a red penguin. The concert will be fine , but missing Lindsey's magic, but Stevie will be reveling (secretly) in the fact that she got Lindsey kicked out and it is now basically her band. No more discussion of Lindsey on stage, but now it will be her discussing how much she missed Tom. SURE the tour will sell fine, but how do these freaking people SLEEP AT NIGHT!

BTW I'm pretty good judge of character which has been proven over and over again in my personal life. My love of Stevie didn't turn the last couple of years for NO reason. I picked up on her increasing bitterness, arrogance, and self important diva behavior.

when i said verbatim - what i meant is exact same wording and phrasing as in the CBS interview. they have the script, and they are acting it out.
the whole audio is interesting because you hear extra parts, not in the original script. still, the most interesting part of the audio is the commentary of the 2 RS guys who interviewed them.

Not really. I can see it now:
“Well Chris and I were recording an album and we called up Mick and John since they worked on our last one and I had also asked Stevie to drop by to do some harmony in one of my songs and then we were all in the studio and it was like ‘doesn’t this feel good?’ That’s what lead to the reconvening of these five people!”
- Lindsey Buckingham, Fleetwood Mac Farewell Tour 2022
My hope is that they are all healthy and able to tour for the next 5 or so years. If so, based on their history and the gobs of money it would make for the five of them to do a farewell tour, I definitely see it happening. But who knows, maybe Lindsey is truly done with it all.

It is no doubt scripted for legal reasons. I wonder if there was a legal settlement with Lindsey or whether they are merely in protective mode. Lindsey’s silence is bewildering - he either can’t say something because of a settlement or he is waiting for one of the four to say something implicating the group.

Omg this is hysterical, I actually thought this has the stench of “Ringo’s All Star Band”

The problem is that Chris will be 79 years old in 2022. It's not impossible but I just can't see it. Reconvening in 1997 was a lot easier than it would be in 2020, 2022... And after the way he was treated this time, he would be a fool to put himself back in that situation in his 70's. Unless he needs money but I suspect the Buck is doing alright on that front.

At least Ringo is kinda fun and it's a party atmosphere (cringe inducing however)...these people didn't look to be having fun in their interview. They looked like they were at a funeral. Ringo has an amusing and engaging personality...who is going to be that in this incarnation of Fleetwood Mac? Stevie rambling incessantly? Chris who is on record as saying she dreads having to go out from behind the keys when she does (Everywhere, Oh Well, etc)? John who hasn't said ten words in 30 years? Or two guys who just joined the band? Or best yet...it will be Mick. The drum vest is coming back and this time the World Turning total run time is going to approach 45 minutes.."ARE YOU WITH ME!? *SPIT* *SPIT* WAHHHHHHHHHH *SPIT*"

This is why this doesn’t ring true for me as a publicity stunt. Especially after all the friends and peers the band has lost recently, why would any of them take that chance. Sure, they could reunite in a few years, but this time it might be at someone’s funeral! And then they’ll really never be able to tour together again.

Listening to the Sirius thing, Mick says again they "literally hit a brick wall"... and you can never be sure if Mick means the words he says, but 'literally' means someone actually hit a wall. So if he is using the word deliberately (which I'm not sure of) then I'm wondering if in the ugly event at Musicares involved someone, LB?, actually punching a wall or something.
He also dances around the issue, the interviewer pushes them to explain, ok so are you saying it was the scheduling thing that led to this? This is due to scheduling? He asks it several times, several ways. And Mick hems and haws and says, well... it became an unacceptable situation or something close to that... which suggests there was more, i.e., whatever the fight was the night of Musicares, and Stevie saying she can't work with him again.

Stevie acting like she feels so intensely about giving an ode to pre-1975 FM when she clearly hasn't listened to it enough to know that Christine did not write or even sing Station Man LOL.
A pathetic excuse for a lame decision. They're embarrassing themselves, but of course they don't care, as long as they sell tickets.
She was always against changing the setlist, and on the other hand, "certain person" (because she can't even say his name) always wanted to change and energize the setlist.
They're all guilty, but Stevie was the instigator. She convinced Mick and together they convinced John. They knew Christine will be against it, but it didn't matter anymore because majority rules, as Mick said.

I doubt he or the band hit a brick wall literally, "literally" being a word that is very often misused.
I would rather believe given the personalities of the people involved that the immediate cause of the firing was the fight over Kare* during MusiCares rather than the scheduling of the tour, but that's just my imagination :D

And why does FM tour need to be planned around her schedule?:laugh: But this kind of comments only reinforce the notion of many of us that indeed she was the instigator in Lindsey's firing, because everything has to be done around her needs.

I didn't hear her say she can't work with him exactly but she may have, I had to tune her obnoxious voice out a few times because she just droned on and on
I never heard 2019 though...she said he wanted to wait for rehearsals until "next November" which in order to translate you'd have to ask her to say the year specifically in question. Technically 11/2018 is the "next November" but most people would call that "this November" or "this coming November" (but who could dare question the use of English by Bob Dyl...Stevie). Again, maybe I missed the mention of 11/2019 because I was sick of her crap and stopped processing her words.

yes. the vote seemed to have been Mick and Stevie talking John into it. 3 of them talking a lot, according to Mick. not even trying to consult Christine. until they had 3 votes and it was done. then they "explained" it to her and now she "fully understands". it seems John was not as quick to "understand," but they "worked" on him. at least he had a say.
Well, I'd also like to believe that she wasn't consulted because they knew she would be against it, so they waited to convince John and voila, Christine's vote wasn't needed anymore.

In the Rolling Stone article if I recall correctly they had 2019 in brackets, so I guess they had as hard a time interpreting Stevietalk as we do. But she said in the CBS interview he wanted it pushed back a year, which is April 2019, not November. So Stevie is having her usual difficulty with the truth.

That's what I'm hoping too, but knowing Lindsey's devotion to fans (in fact he's the only one that cares about FM fans) he'll do it one last time. They will manipulate him, and that makes me hate them even more.:mad::mad:

This is what I truly can't understand! This wasn't just a business decision. I have to believe they all cut any kind of personal ties with Lindsey, a band member they have known for the past 40/50 years. How do you go on after this? You don't. Certainly Stevie carefully thought her revenge plan and what was at stake before executing it. A cold hearted woman indeed. :distress:
This setlist thing is mind boggling. The Queen has played almost the same damn songs on every Fleetwood Mac tour going back to 1990. They certainly used the extra space with Christine's absence to add Say You Will songs in 2003 and Stevie resurrected Sara/Sisters/Beautiful Child/Storms at different times along with Seven Wonders on the OWTS tour. But she isn't exactly lighting it up with her choice of rarities. She hasn't gone without Dreams/GDW/Gypsy/Landslide/Rhiannon/Silver Springs since The Dance. And Stand Back was dropped for the first time in 27 years in 2014.
For her to suggest Lindsey is the problem there is a joke. They are ALL a problem with the boring setlists. Chris hasn't touched her pre-75 output since when...1977? But now suddenly Stevie always wanted to do Station Man (Chris wrote it...or didn't...maybe she sang on it...wait it wasn't your song Chris? Whatever) and with Lindsey gone they can. This woman is exasperating.
Can't wait to hear about all the chiffon heads running for the Bud Light line when the Queen bolts the stage for a cape change during Rattlesnake Shake or Oh Well.

I suspect she had been planning this very soon after the death of Tom Petty, when Mike Campbell became available. But she had to have a pretext--then Lindsey fell into the trap with his plans for a solo tour, then she struck. Her idea of "happiness" is ditching Lindsey. That's the real Stevie for you, not that fairy goddess everybody has been worshipping. Mick of course will cut ties with anybody for the money. John follows Mick. And Chris can be cold blooded when necessary--I've read some old anecdotes about her (take what Bob Welch said about her). So it doesn't necessarily surprise me that much.
The only thing that puzzles me is that they would risk losing tour revenue by firing one of the Rumours 5--but their accountants probably calculated the loss would not be significant, and that was enough for Stevie.

Of course, let's think about when this supposed discussion took place. If she is saying Lindsey wanted to push back a year, and this was around Musicares (january 2018), then we might be onto something. If he wanted to rehearse in November 2018, and start the tour in January 2019 after the holidays...that could possibly align with her StevieBabble.
There is no way Lindsey would suggest moving the tour out to the end of 2019 like some people here are suggesting. It makes zero sense and doesn't even come close to aligning with what Lindsey himself has suggested.
it will be Mick. The drum vest is coming back and this time the World Turning total run time is going to approach 45 minutes.."ARE YOU WITH ME!? *SPIT* *SPIT* WAHHHHHHHHHH *SPIT*"
and there won't be Linds sitting on side of the stage enjoying himself, interacting with fans and signing stuff to fill in that time.
The only thing that puzzles me is that they would risk losing tour revenue by firing one of the Rumours 5--but their accountants probably calculated the loss would not be significant, and that was enough for Stevie.
That's where Azoff comes in...if he can sell promoters on Eagles without Glen Frey, I'm sure he could sell Mick on being able to sell Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey.
I agree with you...she's obsessed with TP and with being a Heartbreaker. Yet, if he EVER would have even entertained her for a role in his band, he would have friggin tossed her out after one tour. In no way could I ever see Tom Petty putting up with Stevie's general nonsense in the way that Fleetwood Mac has for decades.

Right...I forgot the Chris angle. It was just a few years ago where The Queen gave up how sad it made her when they first joined Fleetwood Mac that Chris and Lindsey got along and would write songs like World Turning right away. And now a whole album together...after Little Queenie tried to put the kibosh on it by not agreeing to record. Definitely had to make him pay. Her final revenge!

It is not a publicity stunt. Stevie wanted him gone and wanted Mike in .Mick is greedy so he abetted her in this .I think it is pretty much that simple.
yup. after watching and listening to these interviews, this comes through loud and clear.
one of the recent times - of many! - when Stevie delayed FM tour, Mick went to Playboy and said FM is over. LB went on the road and had a hugely successful acoustic tour.
even if you believe the lies they are trying to sell, you'd think - wtf? if he wanted to delay the tour why either of the options above was not considered for him when it was for her?
why in your 70s instead of exiting gracefully you FORCE tthat you just HAVE TO do a cash grabbing tour? doesn't Mick play all those songs that he's now raving as never played all. the. time with his MBB band? Christine would have been happy to tour with him and play some blues, as she did at some of his Maui gigs.

I think it's along these lines too. After Tom died, her perspective and things changed and she decided she wants to only have fun, and for her going on tour with the ex that she fights with isn't fun.
As for the money, I think they felt that bringing in Mike Campbell would bring a lot of TPATH fans as well, and that would help balance out the FM fans they lost.

just a thought though... would Tom's death be that much more compelling than seeing other people she knows die recently-- Prince, Glenn Frey for example? I mean I know she was closer to Tom than to those guys, but they are all in her age cohort.
I think his death makes another good smokescreen for the fact that it was really about Mike suddenly now being available, and her better relationship with Mike than with Lindsey, and "gosh golly if I could just switch out Lindsey and bring in Mike how great would life be???!!!!"
And the speculation that musicares gave her the perfect storm of opportunity to make the dream happen......seems more and more plausible to me. :(

Prince was way younger. and she barely knew him. Sheryl Crow and many others knew him way better yet they didn't try to milk his death like SN has. it's pathetic and disrespectful.
i would bet you that she only wanted to switch Lindsey for Mike. not bring in another guy. she would have her songwriter and friend, and be able to milk Tom's death too.
and she'd have all the power in the band. she'd be the boss!
but alas, Mick was not willing to give up all the power that easily! he is the CEO or HR manager or whatever your point of view is after all. so ok, he got rid of the guy she hated enough that she was willing to throw the wrench in the already booked tour, but he blindsided her and brought in someone who's his friend - Neil Finn. now when he didn't have LB anymore to counter-balance Nicks, he needed someone else for his "majority".

well, to be fair, they would need someone to fill in the vocal slot LB would leave... and Mike wasn't gonna be the guy to fill it. They would have had to bring in *somebody* who could take on a main singing role.
Which speaks to LB's talent-- he's the lead guitar player AND a lead singer. Not many bands have that. There's a lead guitarist who does't sing lead (maybe some backing vocals) and then the singer. Pick almost any band and that's the case-- the lead guitarist is not a main singer, if a singer at all.
It will always take at least two people to replace him onstage.... that says a lot.
I am still working my way thru the Sirius interview... but Mike makes it a point to say "I've known Stevie for years, we get along great, and we've always been very creative together" (He said similar on CBS, which according to what they say in the Sirius recording they literally just finished before talking to RS)
The fact he said that twice-- once in each interview-- I think is revealing, to me anyway. It's like he's heard her side of things, her complaints about LB like they don't get along and they don't write songs together and all that.... and he's intentionally or unintentionally signaling that he's aware of her complaints about LB and he's sure that he and she won't have the same problems. It just made it clearer to me she's vented to Mike about her issues with LB (probably forever) and made it clear what she's looking to have in a guitarist. He comes off as def "her" guy. Chris seems to have bonded much more strongly to Neil.

For Stevie and Mick this tour is ALL about the cash and nothing more. They calculated that adding Mike (TP fans) and Neil (all the Australia fans when they tour there) would offset the loss of some diehard fans. The casual fan thinks Lindsey is a girl and Stevie is a man for God's sake. Which means they do NOT care about the diehard fan or art. They care about one thing, and we all know what that is....cha ching.

From the Sirius Rolling Stone interview:
Mick:
"There was a huge onus on... on... first a decision of, "can this happen?" and, once I had that, it was all about the enthusiasm that became...you know, in increments..with Stevie, with me, and, and then John... there were huge conversations about.... this was a huge moment in Fleetwood..of course.. and I mean that with respect to the fact that you know, Lindsey, now not in the band... there's... no way around the fact that..that's ..that's a massive part of, of the legacy of a band. It's also, in my world, something that felt that it... if everyone was in a place of..of wanting to have an enthusiasm about being a musician and continuing.. uh.. with the band, that it's not insurmountable. [Chris says "Yeah, and..."] So that is what we embarked on. And it was hugely challenging"
The interviewer says, "And just to clarify, I've seen some confusion, now, did he quit or was he fired, or was it somewhere in between, just how would you clarify his departure?"
Mick: "All of.. all of... all of the..uh, the fired words and the...and all, they're all ugly references as far as I'm concerned. But not to hedge around, an impasse of hitting a brick wall... it was not a happy situation for, for us in terms of, of the logistics of a functioning band, and in truth, no secret to... anyone in the room quietly, without going into the... some of the things had a muscle memory of not being hugely... fun. And to that purpose..uh, we..we made a decision that we could not go on uh with Lindsey. And so it's really up to... people such as yourself with "what do you mean you let him go?" We made the decision we could not go on without you." (sic)
And then the publicist or Karen or someone comes in and tells them time is up. The interviewer gets in one more question to Neil and then asks about rehearsal time. Stevie says 2 months 5 days a week, because they aren't doing all the same songs like before, where they only needed 5-6 weeks because it's all the same songs as previous tours. But this time they'll do a bunch and discard, and all that.

I can imagine how much more bewildering and confusing Stevie was. Oh the disgrace. I'm ashamed now of ever having been a fan of a band like this.
BUT Glenn died, not fired by some bitter hag. That's a huge difference in fans appreciating the band!
Absolutely! And that’s why I have my Eagles tickets for this summer but won’t be giving this group of miserable jerks my money. And again, not Campbell or Finn. Innocent bystanders on this poorly written soap opera.

I think Stevie spent the 4-5 days before Mick officially called Mike convincing him and then John that she was serious about quitting the band rather than still working with Lindsey. "It's me or him" and I don't think she meant just the tour.
I think the use of "muscle memory" is weird..... like, you'd expect it if he said, "It all was too reminiscent of things in the past" or something. Is he using the word "muscle" to imply there was a physical element to whatever happened?? I would doubt it was someone hitting someone else or something like that, but maybe throwing a guitar??

And Stevie trying to lecture Chris on who wrote Station Man? Good lord. Maybe Stevie is on something new ...
There was a moment when Christine almost let her exasperation show when she quietly interjected "it was three of us" (Danny, Jeremy and herself on backing vocals) when talking about Station Man. Maybe Stevie had forgotten the excellent mix of three voices that had sung this version of the song, on which someone else sings the lead.

I hope it makes into the set but I suspect it might get quietly dropped. Its opening is weirdly prescient of the Chain. There are better choices from the post-Peter pre B/N era to go for.
This mutation of Fleetwood Mac is going to have my interest but is going to have to earn my support, and above all record something, as much of an insult to Lindsey as that would be. I'm not sure I'm going to want to be at a gig of theirs with thousands of casual fans who may not know or care of the ins and outs of all this.

why does Stevie want to do the 1975 set list? Their voices are not the same. Hers especially. And I guess her comments about Station Man have to do with onstage. Everything for Stevie is about onstage. Yes, Chris sang on the 1975 tour Station Man with Stevie and Lindsey backing her up. But she didn't write the song or originally sing it on record. I'm really upset with Stevie. I have been a fan of hers since 1975 and I really became disenchanted when Chris rejoined and suddenly Stevie doesn't want to go back into the studio to do an album. It's all about raking in the money on tour, singing the same old songs over and over. Done with that. I won't be seeing the new Mac on this tour. I just can't.

I'm willing to bet Stevie keeps bringing up Station Man because the only early Mac stuff she knows is the stuff she's performed at some point, and she remembers harmonizing with Christine on it in 1975. However, since she hasn't listened to it in 40 years, she forgot that Lindsey actually sang lead on it when they performed it.
That's my theory, anyway.

The interviewer says, "Prior to that you, you thought the tour was going to be WITH Lindsey?"
Mick starts to say "Well, we, we didn't know we.." and Chris says "Yes" somewhat emphatically. And Mick just keeps continuing: "... had a tour. The commentary by the interviewer and the other guy throughout the cutouts from the band interview and at the end says it all - no questions were answered and it was weird af the whole time. Mick made no sense...literally rambling and making it up/trying to remember his script on the fly. Stevie just steamrolled over everyone else whenever anyone would try to talk. I find the two of them to be obnoxious a-holes. The McVie's are a little less but they're still going along with this crap.
The bottom line is it's okay for 4/5 of the band to want to record but get halted and have to release it and tour under a brand new moniker (Buckingham McVie). And even though I don't believe half of the sh** they're shoveling, if you do go with what the band is saying and 4/5 have some idea of when/what a tour should be, they can just fire the 1/5 who is holding out and move on with replacements. They should have released that album as Fleetwood Mac and toured that way too but none of them would be willing to have the balls needed to push the album and tour sans Stevie.

i believe Lindsey said to those fans in the video, in the part that's not captured (they can correct me if i got it wrong), that FM tour is set to start in August 2018, and behaved like he's unhappy but resigned to it, because he was hoping to push the start towards later.
yet, now we see the start 2 months later, in October. wonder what happened? did some of the big east coast markets pull out and decided to wait for the 2nd leg and see how this new thing goes first? and so now they CAN start 2 months later than what they were pushing with Lindsey, originally?

That would certainly all add up. It is very odd to see Nyc, Boston and Philly not until 6 months into the tour. Them initially being in August and September fits like a glove.
another interesting part of the interview, when SN is asked how does she feel about touring without LB, considering she has such long history with him.
after going to the whole Fritz and BN story, she finally arrives to the personal relationship, and characterizes it as her only being with him for the music. that as a couple their relationship was never really good and always volatile. the word love never enters her description. i found that striking, considering their WY intro from 2013, when he would always say how much he loved her, and that one time in Germany when she interjected because she doesn't like the package deal thing, he asked her - you loved me too? and i believe she says yes, i loved you too (and goes into moons and stars sowing on his jeans). i find that interesting, that his story always has love when talking about their relationship as a couple. hers now only basically has the Landslide story - i was with this guy for the music, he was gonna get me places.

On her last solo tour in Columbus, I think, when she dedicated Landslide to him she basically said she decided to stay with him because he was her ticket to better things. I found it odd because all the BN shippers I know were “awwww” and I was like: “when did she say she stayed because she loved him?”

You say that as if I expected anything less from Stevie. She decided to quit “touring” with Fleetwood Mac in 1990 with Christine’s road retirement, and promptly went on a solo tour. I was done with her then.
Mick follows the money, since before he was a performer, so why should I expect something different from him now? He picked money over Peter Green, his hero, so why expect anything different from him, now?
But I think a lot of people are now seeing Stevie the way a lot of us have seen her for decades. As someone who was REALLY pissed LBCM wasn’t billed properly last year (and was told it really didn’t matter how it was billed), I’m over the hypocrisy. I learned to be a Fleetwood Mac fan in spite of Stevie decades ago.
I think the world of Mike and Neil, and my curiosity of how they’ll fit in is piqued. It’s not their fault about what happened, and those two with the McVies is exciting enough for me. Not my first choice for how it played out, but one that doesn’t make me want to utterly puke blood, either. I say that because I’d heard about Mike, and thought it was weird, yet not the worst thing to happen to the band. But I dreaded, and I mean REALLY dreaded a sixth member. Neil Finn is probably the single musician that makes me okay with the situation.
In short, I am beyond disappointed that it was Lindsey who got booted. Stevie should have just quit and hired the Heartbreakers to be her band and let the others continue as a creatively viable, working entity. That didn’t happen. The band instead got two great musicians worthy of checking out. Now I have two great shows and not just one. Good to be a fan who accepted the realities of Fleetwood Mac long, long ago.

WHO is having these LONG conversations about the future of the band

What were the other sensibilites Mick is talking about? The fact that Stevie couldn't, or wouldn't work with Lindsey anymore? I still feel that The BuckVie collaboration brought out a lot of deep seeded jealousy in Stevie. She never liked the fact that she and Lindsey didn't write songs together. It goes way back to "World Turning", when Lindsey DID write with Christine. And then for him to do a whole album and tour with her, well it proved too much for her ego. Alas, Mike Campbell is in the band, someone she has written with. And is there bad blood between her and Chris? Everyone keeps saying how she is talking over Chris. It's always been one of the prerequisites for Stevie joining the band. She had to get along with Chris. Everyone knew the band would not survive two women who didn't get along!!! And if Chris ever slept with Lindsey or Stevie with John that would be the end of it. You'd think the women in the band are mature enough to avoid this confrontation now. Don't know, maybe the claws are being sharpened.....
here's what's interesting: it's not Lindsey fans that are the most angry about all of this.
i run fb LB group, as some may know. the people who are the most disappointed and the loudest are people who used to be huge Stevie fans and are now seeing her as something they never thought she would become. and BN fans who loved the relationship story permeating so many of this era FM songs. or rumours-era FM fans (vast majority, if you do the math 1975 was a very long time ago, people born after rumours 5 became a band are now in their 40s) who love all 5 and their magic together.
Thank you for your insight. I've always, always loved Stevie. I haven't always liked her or agreed with her. I've always loved Lindsey. I love them both. I don't want to be on team Stevie or team Lindsey. I want to be on team FM. I love the solo projects as well as band stuff. I'm greedy--I want it all! A part of me feels liberated for Lindsey. I can't wait to hear new music from him, but he was fired!! And the way he was fired and the why of it is what hurts most.
That's why this is so goddamn depressing and infuriating. This episode is a complete and utter disgrace. All of it makes me sick

The most gratifying thing about this kind of interviews is the fact that people start realizing what was the initial reason of Lindsey's firing. It's not that complicated, really. Like you said, she couldn't stand seeing Lindsey and Christine working together again, and closer than ever.

This. All of this. :xoxo:

another interesting part of the interview, when SN is asked how does she feel about touring without LB, considering she has such long history with him.
after going to the whole Fritz and BN story, she finally arrives to the personal relationship, and characterizes it as her only being with him for the music. that as a couple their relationship was never really good and always volatile. the word love never enters her description. i found that striking, considering their WY intro from 2013, when he would always say how much he loved her, and that one time in Germany when she interjected because she doesn't like the package deal thing, he asked her - you loved me too? and i believe she says yes, i loved you too (and goes into moons and stars sowing on his jeans). i find that interesting, that his story always has love when talking about their relationship as a couple. hers now only basically has the Landslide story - i was with this guy for the music, he was gonna get me places.
To be fair she's said that before about their relationship being a lot about the music and she's said he would tell you the same thing. Even not having too much to do with love, but their relationship just got really difficult/unhealthy and that they probably should have broken up earlier but they stuck it out for the music.

I really, REALLY agree with this. At the time the album came out I remember thinking along the lines of 'I don't know why but I think Stevie is not going to be happy about this'. I remember even seeing people are primarily Stevie fans making snarky comments about the album, even though it technically shouldn't affect them at all. But it makes sense, if Stevie's biggest fans got bothered by the album for no reason, of course Stevie would as well. Obviously I have no proof aside from a weird comment she made about it in an interview, but I always thought Stevie would be mad about it and would have a grudge against Lindsey for it.
And then what do you know-- after over 40 years of loving/working/fighting, decades after probably some of the ugliest moments in their relationship during their crazy drug days-- just a mere couple months after the tour for Buckingham McVie happens, is when she finally gets him fired....

I was thinking about the claims that he wanted them to postpone the tour for 2 years. maybe close to 2 years from musicares, but not 2 years for the tour if you do the math properly. they say they were going to go into rehearsals in june (2018) and rehearse 5-6 weeks, and then the tour, according to what LB told fans at musicares, would actually start in August (2018). which, if you're rehearsing into June and July, makes sense. So if, for the sake of argument, he did ask them to postpone from Aug 2018 until Nov 2019, how is that 2 years?
And then, if you look at dates the tour doesn't start until what Oct 2018? So they did move it a little over 2 months further out. Why? Like people have said, if they moved Mac gigs till Oct, that might give LB time for a short summer solo tour. Otherwise, why move it?

I am beyond disappointed that it was Lindsey who got booted. Stevie should have just quit and
hired the Heartbreakers to be her band and let the others continue as a creatively viable, working entity.

The only place the two years claim came from is Ken Caillat who was probably misinformed. The band themselves, in their twisted version of events, says it was only a one year delay he 'asked' for. But the whole notion that he insisted on delaying the tour is a lie itself.

The drum vest is coming back and this time the World Turning total run time is going to approach 45 minute "ARE YOU WITH ME!? *SPIT* *SPIT* WAHHHHHHHHHH *SPIT*"
i have NEVER laughed so hard at a post on this board in the 15 years i've been here
:lol::lol::lol::lol:
at least John's into the double digits with his words!
Judging by the last three weeks, I'm starting to wonder if she ever told the truth in her life.
so. much. THIS. i am so disappointed.
remember when she said when people they love start dying off he'll be the first one she calls and vice versa
and what happened to all their loooooooooong conversations and mending crap between them that happened 50 million years ago?
Losing Glenn and Prince and Tom a DAY before Lindsey's birthday must have really messed her up
maybe she hit her head
i really don't want to believe Stevie has been this evil, calculating b!tch since 2015
I went to a bunch of her solo shows last year and she can barely get through the show without mentioning Him 50 million times.
there is a lot of good memories there. and i highly doubt half the people at her shows give 2 craps about BN like the people would at a FM show
i have to believe some awful bad $h! t happened in January because no pic from the Musicares event looks even remotely as awkward as the pics that have emerged this week of the new FM tribute band ...
I would doubt it was someone hitting someone else or something like that, but maybe throwing a guitar??
i think it's like when you learn first aid and get overwhelmed and you're never going to remember this
and then someone is dying in front of you and you just remember everything and know what do to
or you've been driving a manual (stick) for 10 years and then you get an auto for a few years but have an accident and your loan car is a manual
you just remember how to drive it like you never weren't driving it
i do think though that mick is just blabbering nonsense
to avoid answering questions in any cogent form

The interviewer asks how long ago the split happened. They say after Musicares. At one point Stevie says she left for Maui on Feb 4.
The interviewer says, "Prior to that you, you thought the tour was going to be WITH Lindsey?"
Mick starts to say "Well, we, we didn't know we.." and Chris says "Yes" somewhat emphatically. And Mick just keeps continuing: "... had a tour. That was, that was... is..is... part of, of... you know....the 'problem' in terms of where it became a, a, a total impasse. 4 of us... had, had to come to a decision....where we'd planned to be doing uh... a large...you know a huge, lovely, FM tour... and, and Lindsey-- for sure-- had very different opinions about when that should start. And....would.... the whole thing without belaboring it... was, was percolating in a way that was not....was NOT ok... for... the majority of the band, in terms of, of knowing that we were gonna... go on tour, and he had, uh.... for whatever reasons, and Lindsey will, I'm sure, will address it in terms of, of a project he was working on, but it's not about "oh, what, what do you mean...why, why couldn't you wait?" and all that stuff. We planned on doing what we were doing for a long, long time, and... majority rules in terms of what we needed to do as a band, and go forward and, and it, it literally hit a brick wall, uh, after the show, and, and, Fleetwood Mac, it's no..you're sitting there, you're very conversant with the...the strange animal known as 'Fleetwood Mac', and..... really... a lot of other sensibilities... uh, came into... play, where it just wasn't a happy situation... and we... made that decision that we were gonna part company."
Interviewer: so the biggest issue was scheduling the tour... is that how you?.. is that what happened, Stevie, that was the big issue?
And she goes into the June vs November thing
Interviewer "and that's what..."
And she goes into doing her tour, and all that.....schedules. etc..
More Mick gobbledygook. "the whole thing without belaboring it... was, was percolating in a way that was not....was NOT ok... for... the majority of the band" What does that even mean in plain English? For such a smooth talker as Mick to tie himself into knots into expressing something incomprehensible simply means the lie is so obvious and the truth so awful and damaging to the band's reputation.
If it was really the tour then he could easily have said this: "We wanted to tour in August, Lindsey wanted us to move it to November, and we couldn't agree." How difficult is that to enunciate? And notice Christine saying Yes when the question was posed whether Lindsey was originally expected to join them on tour. Ooh, Mick had to cover that up quickly.
Because it wasn't the tour. Because Stevie simply wanted Lindsey out. Is there anyone on this board who is actually surprised Lindsey and Stevie don't get along?
Mike Campbell gave her the opportunity to replace him with a guitarist she could control. Very simple really.

Chris seems to have bonded much more strongly to Neil.
i think it's interesting now that Stevie's ONLY allegiance is Mike
Mick has Neil. Can sway with John and influence Chris
i don't think that just because Lindsey is gone Stevie is going to be any less of a diva. I think she's going to be on her best behavior but Mike has not been in a band with Stevie for 40+ years. I don't think this lineup is going to last very long. Calling it now.

She is an embittered old woman who can't stand someone else having fun and being happy. Look at her version of happiness--firing her ex from his livelihood for no reason whatsoever. She will always blame him and Fleetwood Mac for all of her problems. She will never admit her miseries in life were self-inflicted.
She is upset that Lindsey produces her songs and they don't turn out the way she wants. Why doesn't she learn to play an instrument so she could tell him what she does want, just as Chris does? She is mad Fleetwood Mac got her into drugs, liquor, etc. Why, did Mick Fleetwood threaten to fire her if she didn't do coke? She is jealous of Lindsey's family. Who told her to abort her baby with Don Henley? She is mad at the doctor who prescribed her Klonopin. Who told her to abuse it--and yes, she did abuse it, I have been taking Klonopin for more years than she did and I have NEVER suffered anything of what she described, because I follow doctor's orders, and she likely didn't.
But it's never her fault.

I think they are banking (no pun intended) on the media being far more forgiving than they might actually be. Glenn Frey died, so the Eagles premise is quite different. I also don't think the Eagles are doing Poco, Don Henley solo, and Vince Gill tunes. The hodgepodge approach they've hinted to in combination with the guitar sound being different (compared to lindsey) could spell trouble for them when the media does their reviews. It really does sound more like Mick Fleetwood's All Star Band, and not really Fleetwood Mac.

This goes way back Musicares, probably since The Classics or Tom's death. I'm starting to believe she allowed Lindsey to stay in the band until Musicares because if not, the whole event would have been suspended. And she was onto him like a leech because, well, it was their last time together.

All that time spent in rehearsal is probably actually spent in recording the backing tracks they will use in their concerts. I wonder how much of the music in the shows will be actually performed live.

Which is kind of depressing. They have at least 3 guitar players, 2 keyboardists, 2 drummers (though Mick won't acknowledge it), maybe 2 back up singers, and they still have to do prerecorded tracks? Might as well save the money and listen to the records.

I know... it's crazy that anyone would think a Stevie fan wouldn't like the Buck/Vie album out of some sense of, what, loyalty? It was going to be a FM album, Stevie declined to participate, so it became a 'duets' album (without any duets). I did miss Stevie's presence on it, just like I missed Christine's presence on Say You Will, but I still liked it. In fact, I liked Buck/Vie more than Say You Will.
Some Lindsey superfans want it both ways- Stevie refused to participate, yet at the same time she's jealous they made the album without her. It's a contradiction. Stevie had the choice to participate and she declined. If she were jealous that Christine and Lindsey were working together, she would have joined them. And what was there to be jealous of? Christine gave him 5 songs, Lindsey did his usual production work on them, and that was it. It wasn't like they were in the studio working late hours, curled up together in a blanket writing lyrics together LOL!
Instead of looking for MORE excuses to hate Stevie, why not just focus on the ones we know are true, instead of making up superfluous reasons LOL?

All I know is, the few shows they’ve had since Buckvie, Stevie refused to stand next to him in the final bows. “ as long as I stand I will take your hand “. Stevie, “I’ll show him”. This is Stevie’s doing mostly and it can’t be denied anymore.
Yep, it started with The Classics, and I found it odd at that time, but everybody around me dismissed my paranoia:rolleyes:

I wonder why? Is it possible she's behaving that way, as he's been a complete and utter arsehole towards her? It is a possibility, just as much as the possibility that she was scheming to remove him from FM.
We have no idea what exchanges took place before he got fired.
Some of us are completely fed-up with the BN tension and looking forward to a new band dynamic, whether it lasts or not.

I know... it's crazy that anyone would think a Stevie fan wouldn't like the Buck/Vie album out of some sense of, what, loyalty?
Stevie has always been jealous of the musical partnership Lindsey and Christine share, even since World Turning. This has anything to do with curling up together in a blanket. He has a wife and kids at home. Seriously.:laugh:

Mirage is the last time that FM was an actual band.
Sadly I wish they had broken up then, or even after Tusk. Then we would have been spared this utterly disgusting episode of septuagenarians reliving quarrels of 40 years ago and being unable to agree on something so simple as a tour date, and lying outright on national television. It is frankly a slap in the face of the fans.

I became a fan in 1997, for me what's really sad is the latest events seems to have negated all of the progress we THOUGHT had been made since 1997. Apparently we were all wrong. 30 years later and Mick is just as ok to replace people now as he was 30 years ago. At one point in 2013 we thought the ice had melted enough between Buckingham and Nicks that maybe could finally lead to an interesting chapter. It's been SLOW progress for the past 20+ years but fans stood by hoping for good ground in the future. I think we were all hoping that time would in fact heal wounds and as we enter these twilight years of this band, we were hoping for that lightning to be captured in a bottle just one more time. There was probably no greater joy than the 2013 interviews that revealed the possibility of stevie and Lindsey really working together again.
But the reality is - relations were paper thin back in 97 and apparently remain so to this day. Despite everything they have done together since.

I can't answer for moonsister, but for me, let's say the band was going to record an album and Stevie refused to cooperate or participate. If FM had fired her, I would have been sad and disappointed, even angry at first, but I would have understood. They didn't fire her, so it must not have bothered them that much.
Likewise, if Christine had said she would continue to record with FM but no longer tour because she was tired and had a phobia of flying, and Lindsey and Mick said no, it was all or nothing, I would have been sad and disappointed, even angry at first, but I would have understood. Oh wait, that DID happen! Still, I understood Lindsey's point, and I saw the band twice after that without Christine. I didn't like it, and I didn't agree with it, but I accepted it.
Here's what I wouldn't do, though- I wouldn't post on here how much I hate Lindsey or Mick for pushing Stevie out, I wouldn't ascribe motives to them I know nothing about, I wouldn't use quotes from the past 40 years to try to prove why she shouldn't have been fired for something that happened now, and I wouldn't say or suggest people here who would continue to support FM are bad people or wrong for doing so.
FM makes a lot of money when the Rumours lineup tours, so I know there was a major reason Lindsey was fired. It wasn't over something minor, because Mick, Stevie, Christine, and John are taking a huge gamble with their bank account to do this, and they know this, because they've toured without Lindsey before. If it could have been worked out, they would have worked it out. And yes, I would say the same thing if Stevie had been fired. They wouldn't have fired her if whatever the problem was could have been worked out.

I was personally not hoping for much (anyway I am too far to attend one of their concerts). I was just hoping that they would take one look in the mirror, take a deep breath, and go out on tour for even a dozen or so dates on a Farewell Tour just to properly say goodbye and thank their fans who stood by them through all their ups and downs, then maybe release a tour video and a final Greatest Hits. But no. We get THIS. Mick pretending this is a new band going forward? Going where precisely? Oblivion?
And that loathsome CBS appearance. They have been ruthlessly exposed as the despicable people they really are, especially OGB. I'm even more disgusted by that miserable performance than by the firing of Lindsey. If that's the way they think of fans they can kiss my ars*. (I don't even use that kind of language for my bitterest enemies in court.) Not a dime for any of their music, not a second more listening to their CDs.

I like this post a lot.
I would just like to add, and this is just my personal pov, that I really do believe things had changed, evolved, matured, however you want to put it, between all the band members the past 40 years. In 1986-87, when they were recording Tango, they were not in a good place as a band, according to virtually all of them. When they came back together for the Dance in 1997, they were in a much better place as a band. You could see it in their performances and they even said it themselves. I did, in fact, believe it was sincere when Lindsey hugged Stevie at the end of Landslide, I think they were both sincerely moved by the performance and the audience reaction. I didn't believe it when they did that at every stop n their tour LOL but I believed it when I saw it on MTV. So I believed they progressed from 1987, but things worsened later, for some reason. Just like in our own lives, sometimes despite our best efforts, we don't get along with co-workers, and so we move on. But we don't have fans who follow us and expect us to stay together forever until we die.
I would have loved it if these 5 members had been able to continue recording for years, but for various reasons, it didn't happen. Lindsey left for 10 years, Christine wasn't allowed to contribute after the Dance until she returned full time, and Stevie didn't want to contribute after Say You Will, with the exception of one song for their EP. So there were lots of factors and reasons we didn't get more music more often. But that doesn't negate the good stuff for me, and I hope it doesn't for most FM fans.

My post has been taken completely the wrong way - I guess I wasn't clear enough.
All I am trying to emphasize (over and over again) is that WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!! I really truly honestly don't believe Stevie plotted for this to happen. To me, It's all gossip until something is proven.
My GUESS is that the tension built within the band and between BN until it became too dysfunctional, and maybe Lindsey's solo tour plans played a part in that. I don't believe anyone plotted anything, I think they just had to find a working solution quickly. But believe what you want, it's fine, maybe I'm totally wrong - it's just another point of view.

The media might be forgiving if it wasn't so obvious they were being lied to. I mean we all are, but I don't think (forgive me if I am wrong) any of us on this board are going to write a review of the show that will be syndicated in publications globally. I mean, so far we've had what, 3 different interviews with this group--and each one seams like 6 different people showed up to be interviewed? I think at this point, people now just need to sit tight and wait for LB to chime in....unlike some folks, I don't think he's admitting fault/wrong doing but not speaking up sooner, I think he's just letting the train wreck of this new line up do as much press as possible and spin their tales, dig their graves and weave as much BS as they possible can. I'd like to see Dan Rather interview him again.. that was a really good interview. I'd like to see it happen on October 2nd too :) LOL

Fwiw, I remained skeptical too at first and didn't believe what a lot of people were saying. The reason I changed my mind is because I decided I was going to search around for those 'sources' people talked about and I actually found them and saw what they were saying with my own two eyes and it literally was a simple "he wanted to do two tours and they wouldn't let him, then Mick and Stevie basically tag teamed to get him fired, it was a major case of dirty business" And while I can't tell you that I have evidence proving that these 'sources' are 100% true, after seeing them myself, I wholeheartedly believe they are reliable. One of those people was actually a GIANT Stevie Nicks fan who is now standing against her. Why would a giant Stevie Nicks fan make up a story that make Stevie look like an awful person that conspired to get her bandmate fired because she decided she wanted to have fun in her life and didn't want to tour with him anymore?
Obviously I can't convince anyone what to believe. But after seeing it with my own two eyes and really trying to make sure that the info was reliable, I believe it.

Which is kind of depressing. They have at least 3 guitar players, 2 keyboardists, 2 drummers (though Mick won't acknowledge it), maybe 2 back up singers, and they still have to do prerecorded tracks? Might as well save the money and listen to the records.

I'm not a super Lindsey fan, but my opinion on why Stevie chose not to participate is because she had nothing to bring to the table anymore. Or she felt inadequate in the presence of two working musicians that do work well together writing songs. One of whom is her ex, that for whatever reason she can't quite let go of. It was documented how well Lindsey and Chris did get along in the studio with comments being made how easy it all was. NO DRAMA! Then they toured to support the album both having a great time on the road. Everything was an enjoyable experience for both of them. I believe Stevie felt very snubbed through the whole process. It's really not a far stretch of the imagination to think this was part of what went down in Lindsey's firing. Besides Stevie herself said that she wants to spend the next ten years of her life dancing and singing in her apartment. SHE VANTS TO BE HAPPY!!!:]

Does no one remember Mick's interviews in 2012 when he basically was crying that Fleetwood Mac is dead because Stevie was so caught up in her solo project she wasn't agreeing to tour or do anything for the band:
"I don’t believe Fleetwood Mac will ever tour again,” Fleetwood says dryly. “But I really hope we do. We have rehearsed and prepared for it since 2010. We were supposed to tour in 2011, but we delayed it for a year to allow Stevie Nicks to support her solo record and for Lindsey Buckingham to do the same with his. I’ve always been supportive of my bandmates doing solo albums, so long as we kept our band together. If you look at the credits as far back as you like, I’ve always played extensively on many of them, and this time was no different. I played drums on most of Stevie’s latest album, the one she is still out there supporting and the one that is the reason that for now she refuses to do a Fleetwood Mac tour. It comes down to her, and for the first time, I think, even Lindsey has lost his patience. All of this uncertainty is a tremendous change for me.”
http://www.fleetwoodmacnews.com/2012/03/mick-fleetwood-revealing-playboy.html?m=1
If you click the link you can read even more revealing things he says. And if you read the 2013 profile of the band on your, you can see that it says they were supposed to head out before, but had to delay a year because of Stevie. Had this been any other band member they would have been axed and replaced so Mick could go out and make his money. But that won't happen with Stevie and they all know it. The story the band is telling that Lindsey INSISTED on delaying the tour is a very twisted version of the truth. Lindsey knows he doesn't have that power like Stevie.

Stevie is a very powerful force indeed. And in 2012 while Mick was crying because of Stevie and his solo tour, Lindsey was there by his side. And that's how they pay him. No wonder his family is so upset. :distress:
And yes, had it been any other member they would have been axed.... no, wait, that actually happened. And his name is Lindsey.

How many times do I have to repeat myself - I'm not protecting Stevie, I'm just wary of what I read on the internet - there's SO much crap out there!!
Stevie isn't innocent, neither is Lindsey - and they have a long-term problem of an intensely volatile relationship.
I know you like to have a good argument, but I have many other things I need to do :wavey:
Then, you know how we are feeling every time we have to repeat ourselves. Frustrating, isn't it?
Yes, you clearly stated Lindsey's not an innocent angel, and yet, he was the one fired, not Stevie.
Please, go, I have other people I can talk to. :wavey::wavey::wavey:

I think they are banking (no pun intended) on the media being far more forgiving than they might actually be.
Yes I think they believe (and I think they may be right) that this will all blow over and everyone will forget about it soon enough.
I think the November 2019 thing was also on the RS article, .
Yes, in more than one place.
More sweeping statements....
I'm a Stevie fan and I loved the Buckvie album, and don't view Lindsey as a monster for calling it Buckingham McVie.
The constant generalising about Stevie fans does get irritating. And I realise it's not going to change.
I agree that all Stevie fans are being tarred with the same brush as the superfans. Contrary to how others want to similarly whitewash people on here as Lindsey "superfans" or Lindsey apologists, I got into FM because of Stevie and was a major fan of hers. I have never been a Lindsey "superfan". I've actually only been a "superfan" of the Five, together. The truth is both S & L have engaged in bad behavior. It's just that his has been at least whispered about and then outright talked about for a long time, while hers has not... until recently when some of her more unflattering diva behaviors have come out.
It's not even an age thing. Somewhere along the line, someone decided that concerts need to sound like the records. Like, EXACTLY like the records.
Now this, I think, is something that can be pinned on Lindsey more than some of the other members of FM. He goes over the top with it on most of his solo tours. :sorry:
Of course it must be all Stevie's fault, as Lindsey is an innocent angel and couldn't possibly have done anything to contribute to what just occurred ;)
I have not heard any of the folks here saying that Lindsey is an angel. Far from it. He's a pain in the a$$ a lot of the time, and can be a spoiled diva. All people are saying is, the same can be said of Stevie. She's just packaged it better over the years.
If they were actually ARTISTS, and not whores, this scenario would've happened when she refused to record for BuckVie.
This is where the current story about it being about scheduling falls apart. If you go back and read the interviews where she was being patently obstructionist to the band getting any work done -- touring OR recording-- she should have been fired according to the rules they are now claiming they applied to Lindsey. They didn't, we all agree, because she's the big money maker. Yet they will continue to pretend they deal with all members equally. It's that hypocrisy that has been made glaringly obvious in recent events, and the fact that they seem to believe we can't all see it is mind boggling.
Well-said!
And the difference is that Lindsey officially left when he didn't want to participate anymore. Christine officially left when she didn't want to tour anymore. Stevie, however, did NOT leave. She just impeded the band. She expected them to tolerate her unwillingness to participate, and didn't have the cojones, or the decency, or whatever, to be honest and just leave. And the band didn't hold her to the same standard. Chris was given conditions for her return. Stevie has never been given conditions. We all see the hypocrisy, which can be justified in business terms as her being the money maker. The band, however, keeps either deluding themselves or trying to delude us about it.
Stevie would never be fired because she's the big star. She's the person most people buy FM tickets to see. She holds the cards and they all know it. No matter what she did she would never be fired.
I don't disagree with much of what you said, and I really appreciate a reasonable discussion like this. It's absolutely possible Stevie didn't participate because she has nothing to bring to the table. Maybe she doesn't have any new songs to share with FM. And yes, Lindsey and Christine got along very well last year. I think they pretty much always have, and she seemed even more appreciative of him since she unretired (a new word, I think!) The only part we disagree on is that their collaboration drove Stevie into such a frenzy of jealousy that she schemed to get Lindsey out of FM. The only way I would have believed that is if Buck/Vie had shot to #1, sold millions of copies, and maybe been nominated for or won a Grammy or two. Then I could see Stevie being jealous. But the album just did ok, probably about the same as her 24 Karat Gold album, but nothing that would have made her jealous, imo. As I've acknowledged, Stevie (and everyone else in FM) likes to make money, and I'm sure she would have been happy to keep the guaranteed sure thing in place for their tour unless something major had happened.

It’s interesting to me the timing of the NY, Boston, Philly shows. Pretty late in the tour. I think the Forum is their largest venue for in ‘18 (I may be wrong with this statement, I really pay attention to East coast as that’s where I live. Also interesting no rumblings of Europe or Australia. I actually think Stevie’s solo tour had more dates lined up than this. Do you think it’s a “testing the waters” type exercise?

I hear what you're saying but the jealousy thing goes way, way back to 1975 when Christine & Lindsey wrote World Turning together. She was jealous of them working together. With the BuckVie album I think that's exactly it: they were working together and having a good time and going on the road. I don't think she cared whether the album did great or not. It was the mere fact that Lindsey was working with Christine in a way he never could (maybe never wanted) with her. Maybe Christine & Lindsey wanted to work together throughout their careers but never did because they didn't want to hurt her feelings. Don't forget that ALL FM members have always catered to her needs.

I dont think the tour will fail--money wise. There are plenty of people who want to see Stevie. That'll bring them in. Plus the more modest draw of Christine. There are also those who are genuinely interested in Mike Campbell's guitar work.
I don't know many who would go just to see Neil Finn, though he's a very good singer.
But the tour will be a disappointment for those of us who have slogged through years of hoping for new material from the Rumours five. It will also lack Buckingham's incredible nervous energy, as someone else point out earlier in this thread. That simply cannot be duplicated or substituted.
The tour is also galling for those of us who have heard Buckingham throughout the years argue for a different approach to the FM tours, his vocal criticism of the nostalgia and "greatest hits" format, his desire to carry the band a bit further into space. One of the things I noticed on the "Unleashed" tour was how powerful and interesting the interplay was between the core instrumental trio. It was stunning, actually. And the band did a very different take of Tusk, which was better than just about any version I've seen or heard since 1980. Where the show paled was when Nicks took the lead. She seemed comparatively disengaged and unhappy.

Haha, between DDIO and Something So Strong, I couldn't tell you anything about them/him.
That's because you are American and he has had little success there.
Something so Strong is in my opinion one of his worst songs, it is a vanilla radio song released to break the US market .....it is no way a reflection of his skill and talent as a musician. Try listening to I've Got You, Sinner, Truth, Nails at my feet, Into temptation... to name a few of his quality songs.
I am devastated that Stevie has destroyed this bands legacy and conspired to fire Lindsey, it makes me sick to my stomach and your picture above may for once be actually appropriate.........but Neil is a fellow kiwi and he is brilliant. I don't begrudge him for taking in this gig to get worldwide exposure

Agreed and well said. This was the right thing to do.

Of course this has nothing to do with money. Stevie couldn’t care less if the album failed or was a success. It’s the personal time they share, working together perfectly fine and without jumping at each other’s throats.
I honestly don’t care how ridiculous it sounds. Some people here claim to be Stevie’s fans, yet they don’t know how to read her body language. She has been pissed at Lindsey since Musicares.

I'm familiar with that quote, but I doubt Stevie even remembers saying that, let alone feeling that way. I remember the context of that quote as something like she saw Lindsey and Christine actually collaborating on World Turning, and it made her sad because Lindsey had never worked with her on a song like that. I think they did co-write a song on Buckingham Nicks, but due to her comment, I took that to mean they wrote the song together, but not in the same manner as World Turning was done. Like she wrote it, gave it to Lindsey, and he added words or music on his own, which was different than sitting down and jamming and creating a song together. That's my interpretation, purely speculative.
The Buck/Vie collaboration sounds like the typical FM model of making an album- Christine writes her songs, hands them off to Lindsey, he does his stellar production, maybe adds a lyric here or there, and voila! I don't think that type of collaboration would make Stevie jealous to the point that she would want Lindsey out of the band. It's just too much of a leap for me. I mean, why would she only be angry with Lindsey and not Christine? Clearly they all wanted Stevie on the album, but she declined. It just doesn't make sense. And it's not that I think Stevie is incapable of feeling jealous! Like I said, if the album had sold like crazy, I absolutely could see her being jealous and acting irrationally.

Agree. The idea of her being jealous is ludicrous since it could have been a FM album had she decided to record. There was nothing to be jealous of. The album was good and the tour was fun but neither made near the waves they would need to make to make her jealous.

Do you think because it was not a success as let’s say, Rumours, it’s impossible she was jealous? So, she only cares/loves Lindsey if there’s money/success involved?
The time he spent with Christine recording and touring was irrelevant to her?

World Turning was MANY years before this. Stevie has not wanted to set foot in a recording studio with Lindsey since Say You Will which is why the FM album became a “duo” album. There was nothing about Buckingham McVie to be jealous over.

If you genuinely think Stevie gave no thought about the Buckingham McVie album then you're giving Stevie's maturity levels way too much credit. Look at the comments she made on it when asked. "I don't understand their intention" and talks again about how records don't sell. I know Stevie did not want to be on the FM album. She did not want to get back in the studio with Lindsey. She even said there isn't going to be a new FM album. And she and everyone knows they'll never go release a Fleetwood Mac album without her on it. But she probably just expected them to scrap it. I HIGHLY doubt she imagined that Lindsey and Christine would then just decide to release what they'd worked on as their own duet album. And it's not like she could do anything about it since it was released under their own names but I'm sure it bugged her. Why wouldn't it? It was two members of her own band releasing an album together, with the two other members of her band playing on it, and then going out and touring that album. Jealousy might not even be the right word, but I whole heartedly believe she did not at all expect them to make and tour their own album (with a title awfully similar to BN) and that the whole thing did not sit well with her.

Yeah, I think physically assaulting women is a little more serious than being jealous about a song! Hopefully the abuse ceased and yes, I stand by my hope that he had serious discussions with his children about how he behaved in the past.
And no, I don’t know Stevie any more than you do, just like you do not know Lindsey. It is all speculation. So your projections about her motivations are not fact either.
