If you genuinely think Stevie gave no thought about the Buckingham McVie album then you're giving Stevie's maturity levels way too much credit. Look at the comments she made on it when asked. "I don't understand their intention" and talks again about how records don't sell. I know Stevie did not want to be on the FM album. She did not want to get back in the studio with Lindsey. She even said there isn't going to be a new FM album. And she and everyone knows they'll never go release a Fleetwood Mac album without her on it. But she probably just expected them to scrap it. I HIGHLY doubt she imagined that Lindsey and Christine would then just decide to release what they'd worked on as their own duet album. And it's not like she could do anything about it since it was released under their own names but I'm sure it bugged her. Why wouldn't it? It was two members of her own band releasing an album together, with the two other members of her band playing on it, and then going out and touring that album. Jealousy might not even be the right word, but I whole heartedly believe she did not at all expect them to make and tour their own album (with a title awfully similar to BN) and that the whole thing did not sit well with her.
She was always so proud of BN, and of course Lindsey has to come and ruin it (in her mind, of course). It showed zero concern for her feelings. It was like BN never meant a thing for him.

Yeah, I think physically assaulting women is a little more serious than being jealous about a song! Hopefully the abuse ceased and yes, I stand by my hope that he had serious discussions with his children about how he behaved in the past.
And no, I don’t know Stevie any more than you do, just like you do not know Lindsey. It is all speculation. So your projections about her motivations are not fact either.
Hopefully the abuse ceased? Wow! That's like saying Stevie is still doing drugs. :(
Thank you, I have zero interest in meeting Stevie, and I also don't know Lindsey but you're the one calling him an abuser, which is far more worse than me calling Stevie a jealous woman.
Yeah, projections.

She probably did not expect it, but I still don’t think it bothered her because she could have just reminded herself that she had the power to turn this into a FM album. I don’t deny that her ego is beyond measure — if it had become a huge seller than yes she probably would have regretted it. But I don’t think enough to record with Lindsey again.

Yeah, projections.
The behavior itself is far worse.
I guess I should have said allegedly since I don’t know him personally and we just have accounts like Carol Ann’s on his physical and mental abuse the years she was with him.
But this is one reason why I do not feel very sorry for him in this whole ordeal.

Well, we don't know how many people Stevie hurt with her drug abuse.
Yep, Carol Ann should have walked away if all her stories are true. Yet, she didn't because it was cool to tour with the band and do tons of coke. And write a book a couple of years later.
Yes, of course, the revenge angle. So, I guess we all finally agree on something.

-Definitely true, and that is something she has to deal with.

-Classic blame the victim. Yes she should have come forward. All victims should. Just because they don’t does not mean the abuse was not real.
Yes, of course, the revenge angle. So, I guess we all finally agree on something.
-You see revenge. I see it his past actions as a band member coming back to haunt him. As I have said all along...no matter what sources say...only those folks know exactly what happened.
Maybe all of this is karma. Lindsey’s is the embarrassment of getting fired from the band. Stevie’s is the current ire by die-hard Lindsey fans.

Yes, in Stevie's fans words, revenge. After 43 years. Wow!
Clearly no matter what Lindsey says you're not gonna believe him because "he deserves this".

What? In a real world job getting the boot because you were difficult, obstructionist or whatever is not “revenge.” It’s what happens.
And like it or not it happened here too.
Lets not forget that Stevie is the reason the band didnt make another FM record. NO ONE can dispute that! So much for being a working, creative band again. Lets just tour, have fun, and make lots of money. At least Chris and Lindsey wanted something more. So hats off to them for giving us the treat that was BuckVie! And I still say Stevie got gut punched with that! She herself said she thought they would not do it. I'm just so tired of her mental lapses and bs! Where is the puking emoji when you need it?!

I don't understand what it is with people tossing around Lindsey's history with violence as if it's some sort of bargaining chip in respect to what's going on with the band right now. The way Lindsey behaved back then should never be condoned and if someone wants to inherently have a dislike of him because of that then I think they have all the right to.
But if someone now (and this is almost specifically always Stevie fans), in their desire to argue that he somehow deserved to be treated like this from the band and that what the other members did wasn't wrong, unnecessarily and out of nowhere brings up the "he was an abusive boyfriend!" claim, not only does that disrespect the seriousness of domestic violence and the fact that it should be talked about in full seriousness on its own, but it also shows that the person doesn't really have much of an argument and thus feel the need to bring up the worst aspect of Lindsey's character that likely has absolutely zero to do with what has gone on here.
I don't know why this is so hard for some people. After all the years of brilliant musicianship and hard work (much more so than any other member of the band if you ask me), Lindsey didn't deserve this. I am shocked, disappointed and angry with the other band members for treating him like this. I love Stevie to death, but it's not hard for me to think that what she (as well the others) did was wrong.

Yeah, ok, this is clearly pointless.

I see what you are saying.
It is complex.
For me the alleged abuse does matter because it’s part of the control issues he has. Lindsey has also had control issues with the band since 1975. So many people only say Stevie is the control freak, but remember how Mick and John resented him trying to take over (my words) after they joined.
So even if you take the alleged abuse out of the equation, eventually there is going to be a breaking point when you have someone like Lindsey. As brilliant as he is, he was fired. Just like brilliant but difficult people are fired in every industry. I don’t think it’s revenge. It’s consequences of past actions. We are publicly being told it was the scheduling issue. We’ll see.

Obviously, it did just happen after 43 years. Do I wish it happened, as Fleetwood Mac fan? No. But I am not in the band. Not my decision. It was the rest of the band’s decision.
I am curious to hear Lindsey’s perspective on what happened. I hope he does make a statement.

I don't think our points necessarily disagree. I agree Lindsey was a hardcore control freak and as much as he may have grown, I doubt that ever totally goes away. But the thing is, the power dynamics in the band have changed since the 70s and 80s. Lindsey was the boss in the studio back then and he was basically the boss in every sense of the word in regards to what the band did musically. And I think he still probably wishes that what he says goes, but he's not dumb enough to know it's not that way anymore. Stevie holds ALL the cards now. ALL of them and that fact should not be underestimated. She and everyone else now know that she is the big star and she's the one people will not buy tickets without. That's why Stevie actually GOT to delay a tour by a year because she was doing her solo project.
And if you're saying that it's a consequences of his actions in regards to being a control freak, well Lindsey certainly isn't the only member of the band who did things back then that caused trouble for other band members. Mick was an absolute mess, a complete failure as a band leader. Look at what Lindsey has to say about making the Tango album, he said Mick would literally pass out drunk/stoned in his home to the point that Lindsey got a trailer for him parked in his driveway to basically live in. Stevie was such a rock diva that several people have said they could hardly speak to her because she was constantly surrounded by an entourage, during the making of Tango she decided to fly out to Australia instead of recording with her band. And she also had a serious drug problem that likely made dealing with her difficult, Jimmy Iovine allegedly quit Rock a Little the first time for that very reason.
They all gave each other hell but Lindsey is the only one who's facing "consequences" for it, decades later? When oddly enough Lindsey was fine enough to make an album with Christine just a year ago, with Mick and John playing on it, tour that album which by all accounts, was a successful and happy experience for everyone involved on it.
And you're right that the "he wanted to delay the tour one year and we didn't" is what they're telling the press. And it's not the whole truth, it's an altered version of events.
My point here is that I believe Lindsey did not do anything to warrant being treated like this. I personally believe Stevie did not to tour with him anymore because of their bickering and that her outlook on life has changed since TP's death and when he started asking for whatever he was asking for in the regards to the tour, she decided "I'm done" and Mick went with it because Stevie is his cash cow, and the rest of them all went along with it as well, whether they liked it or not. I love Stevie and I love the band but I think what they've done here is just wrong.

ITA!
And about the domestic violence. That is a rather pathetic try to give the band some morale reason for their backstabbing firing. Remember when John threw an axe after Christine? Domestic violence has NEVER been a problem for the band, as long as the money rolled in. And also not for the fans who cry "girlfriend-beater" now. They bought the music, heaped to see FM with said violent man in concert again and again. In that narrative, they were complicit. But that hasn't dawned on them.

I don't know--in the "real world" I work with difficult people who I don't necessarily like and see eye to eye with on a daily basis. That's why is called "work" and it's not camp. The fact he may have been tossed for something like this is beyond ludacris and just shows that this band is still living on some other planet.

To compare a work in the real world with being a rock star is ridiculous. But that’s the only way to try and somehow justify what Mick and Stevie did. Oh, and the abuse thing.

but at the end of the day, unless we were there, we don't really know anything.....:confused::confused:
While what you say is definitely a fact (we absolutely dont know what happened), I still like to come here and see all of those who used to think they ran the world eat their words and whine like babies. I am finding this a truly enjoyable experience.
I am kind of sorry Lindsey is gone. There is no denying his talents. There is also no denying his ego. However, trying to say that Stevie is the sole cause of this is just infantile and absurd. However, let the belly aching and goat comments and name calling continue. Keep your asses home from the concert and leave those of us who choose to continue following this band alone!!~

Better seats for me if fewer fans are shopping! :D
This tour will sell EXACTLY the same amount of tickets as every other tour. The lineup change will not hurt ticket sales one bit. Concert promotors use data analysis to predict exactly what a tour will sell with ANY lineup months before a tour is announced. Mick knows this. If there was EVER any doubt that Fleetwood Mac would not be able to fill arenas WITHOUT Lindsey Buckingham, this tour NEVER would have been booked.
I am angry and outraged that this band has "fired" Lindsey. However, the truth remains that ticket sales will stay exactly the same.
Most of the seats at a Fleetwood Mac concert are filled with mindless fans who couldn't care less about the band's back catalog and deep cuts. Moreover, I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't name all 5 members (beyond Stevie Nicks). They are there to hear ""Dreams", "Landslide", "Go Your Own Way" and "Don't Stop".....and for a few of them, it doesn't matter who is signing-- as long as Stevie is there. These casual fans will have ABSOLUTELY no problem with Neil Finn, Billy Burnett, or any guitarist of the moment singing an encore of "Go Your Own Way". Case closed. There's your paycheck, folks.

You are absolutely correct. Mick probably sat down with concert promoters months ago to analyze the projected numbers of a tour without Buckingham. The band was doing the SAME numbers even before Christine McVie returned.
What has happened with Lindsey's firing is outrageously disgusting. But, these arenas will be filled and ticket sales will not be hurt in the least.
It's sad to say.

An accurate description of those who are eager for better seats.:laugh:

You are absolutely correct. Mick probably sat down with concert promoters months ago to analyze the projected numbers of a tour without Buckingham. The band was doing the SAME numbers even before Christine McVie returned.
What has happened with Lindsey's firing is outrageously disgusting. But, these arenas will be filled and ticket sales will not be hurt in the least.
It's sad to say.
I disagree. They did ok before but Christines return really helped. I went to the 2013 show in LA and it was 3/4 full. The forum was sold out for 4 nights. I agree however that the tour will do well enough. Sadly.

I know and was joking because laugh is about all I can do at some of the vitriol being tossed around this board. I'm looking forward to the tour but have no plans of going broke buying tickets. (From my vantage point in the cheap seats they'll all look younger... ;) ) And I'm going with one of those "mindless" fans who don't care about the back catalog. She cared for about 10 seconds that Lindsey wasn't going to be there ("I was hoping to see all 5..."), but then I told her Mike Campbell is great and she was fine.

You are correct. There will be many "fans" attend the concert not knowing Lindsey is gone LOL. Christine's return did spike ticket sales and prices though. 2013 had a huge and popular tour for the Mac. However 2 shows got cancelled because of poor ticket sales (Montreal and Sunrise, FL). I am not sure what their quota was to cancel a show. The next year the Mac sold out Sunrise, FL and even played a sold out Miami show only about an hour away.
I think this tour will be similar with profit. I notice the tickets are more expensive. Ticket sales will be similar but maybe down a bit. Big test to see if they repeat cities like in 2014. If they repeat like On With The Show then you know the tour is going excellent.
Bathroom breaks will see thousands of fans exit the arena during Rattlesnake Shake and when Stevie leaves the stage.

I understand, but I think it's also safe to say, based on recent actions of Lindsey, that he (and all the members) are in relative good health. How can one think that?
1- he just toured several dozen cities last year.
2- people in their income bracket can usually afford the best healthcare available.
3- he's been seen in public recently and looks incredible, and he certainly had energy during their performance at MusiCares.
4- Lindsey was not only preparing to tour for several months with FM, he also (allegedly) wanted to perform live solo during their off days, as well.
5- even rock stars have to have insurance, and Billy Burnette wrote in his book about how insurance was a factor when it came to some of the venues they performed at. The band members have to be healthy enough to tour, or they wouldn't be approved by venues, who would have to deal with thousands of upset fans if a concert were canceled.
So based on those actions, one can presume Lindsey is relatively healthy.

Well - enjoy the concert!
You deserve this band.
Yes we fans do deserve a band with its foundation in tact...with some new members who will all get along and enjoy each other instead of constantly insisting that it is his way or the highway. I am truly looking forward to a fresh sound and to see what the new harmonies will sound like with someone who can sing instead of scream.

I can't answer for moonsister, but for me, let's say the band was going to record an album and Stevie refused to cooperate or participate. If FM had fired her, I would have been sad and disappointed, even angry at first, but I would have understood. They didn't fire her, so it must not have bothered them that much.
Likewise, if Christine had said she would continue to record with FM but no longer tour because she was tired and had a phobia of flying, and Lindsey and Mick said no, it was all or nothing, I would have been sad and disappointed, even angry at first, but I would have understood. Oh wait, that DID happen! Still, I understood Lindsey's point, and I saw the band twice after that without Christine. I didn't like it, and I didn't agree with it, but I accepted it.
Here's what I wouldn't do, though- I wouldn't post on here how much I hate Lindsey or Mick for pushing Stevie out, I wouldn't ascribe motives to them I know nothing about, I wouldn't use quotes from the past 40 years to try to prove why she shouldn't have been fired for something that happened now, and I wouldn't say or suggest people here who would continue to support FM are bad people or wrong for doing so.
FM makes a lot of money when the Rumours lineup tours, so I know there was a major reason Lindsey was fired. It wasn't over something minor, because Mick, Stevie, Christine, and John are taking a huge gamble with their bank account to do this, and they know this, because they've toured without Lindsey before. If it could have been worked out, they would have worked it out. And yes, I would say the same thing if Stevie had been fired. They wouldn't have fired her if whatever the problem was could have been worked out.
Thank you for being a voice of reason. All the people who say that Stevie fans blindly protect her seem to be doing the exact same thing for Lindsey now. Logic would dictate that he must have done something unforgivable or "wrong" for him to not just get booted from the tour but to be fired completely from the band and for that to be endorsed or at least supported by ALL of the remaining members of the band.
Before anyone tries to attack my validity due to my screen name as if that would diminish my credibility, it is true Stevie is my favorite but for me Stevie is a 9, Christine an 8, and Lindsey a 7. They are all very close to me and it's too close for me to sit there and attack one over the other. So yes, if the roles were reversed and Stevie was fired, I would say theorize the same thing that she must have done something huge for that result to have happened.
Logically speaking, all or most of the other data points cited to support the anti-Stevie or Mick or even Christine vitriol don't make sense to me either.
1) They don't hold Stevie to the same standard. This doesn't hold true for me. Christine chose not to participate and they forged on as FM. Lindsey chose not to participate before in '87 and they forged on as FM. The point was made that Stevie chose to support IYD in '12 and thus broke Mick's heart because he didn't feel FM would ever tour again at the time and since Stevie chose not to participate anymore, they should have replaced her and forged on as FM then. However, in Christine and Lindsey's cases, their departures were supposedly permanent at the time and they legally withdrew themselves as contractual members of Fleetwood Mac. In fact, this happened with Stevie as well in the '90's when she officially withdrew and they DID forge on as FM then with a different lineup sans Stevie. But in 2012, pissed as Mick may have been, Stevie didn't withdraw from the band she prevented him from enacting plans he wanted to make. So his issue should have been that she wasn't available when he wanted her to be. Then this is the issue you say? Well…
2) I'm not saying Stevie is an angel by no means. I'm sure she has been a pain in the ass in the same way Lindsey has been a pain in the ass and John was when he was always drunk in the '70's. However, Stevie saying they had a problem with Lindsey wanting to delay this tour does not seem hypocritical to me because the issue isn't with "time", it's with "timing". In 2012, the only time Stevie has delayed FM's desires, no tour was actually booked. She didn't renig on any commitments or affect anyone's livelihood or bank accounts. BOTH times Lindsey has not toured with them it has been when contracts were drawn, tours were fully booked, schedules made, people hired, etc… Stevie threw away her own plans to support 24K Gold in order to do a second FM tour in a row once Christine came back. She asked for the time off after that which everyone agreed to. They said yes. Lindsey said yes. They agreed to tour in 2018. Everyone said yes. It's at this point that the issue isn't that one wanted time off but that you're going against an obligation you already agreed to.
3) Jealousy over the BuckVie album. Hogwash. There's no logic to support this at all. She's washed up and has no creativity. More hogwash. Even if that were the case, she has plenty of old demos to submit. She was asked several times to participate and CHOSE not to. She did her solo thing because she had put it off for 2 years already. Jealous over the name? Not letting it be called Fleetwood Mac? Hogwash. It couldn't be called Fleetwood Mac legally. All other times a member has been missing and an album was subsequently made, the missing member was no longer a contractual member of the band. There have been FM albums without Christine. There have been FM albums without Lindsey and there has even been an album (Time) without Stevie that was indeed called Fleetwood Mac. But she was not a legal member of the band then. This time she was. You could not call that Fleetwood Mac. It had to be called something else. Please stop with Stevie was jealous and wouldn't let it be called Fleetwood Mac. That's ludicrous thinking.
As many years as I have consulted humans on many levels, I would bet my life Lindsey did something pretty huge for this to have happened. But is he the devil? No. Does he deserve the blame? Not necessarily. Who knows he could have been provoked, who knows the backstory or anything else. And this does not mean to lessen or negate all of his incredible contributions to the band over the years. This is less about the "what" but probably more about the "how" it happened or even "why". And it's not because after all these years Stevie could not stomach one more tour with him and would risk all of this backlash. Does not pass the common sense test. Way too savvy for that she is. And why would Lindsey's family be protecting him and/or why wouldn't Stevie and Mick be showing no mercy in the media if Lindsey did something. Because they didn't reveal that he slapped Stevie back in '87 right away either. And even then Stevie also tried to strangle him so it was more about what triggered the physical altercation than the altercation itself. So in short, this **** is complicated and no one is going to be able to discern the absolute truth with any certainty unless a video recording of everything that was said suddenly comes to light.
So until then, can we please stop the blaming? Because all I am is theorizing, which I'm only doing to demonstrate that it's possible to look at this from another point of view. I'm not blaming any of them or I'd have to start blaming ALL of them.

All valid points, but those blaming Stevie for LBs firing have specific evidence and sources to confirm that it came down to an ultimatum. The 'he was not wanting to tour now' reason has been clearly discredited. We will probably never know the exact details of the arguments or meeting that took place but there is really no obvious or possible reason why he could be fired unless she said I'm not touring unless there is no Lindsey Buckingham

There are so many points of view here--heads could spin. To be clear up front--I am a fan of this band. I don't wave a Lindsey banner, I don't wave a Stevie banner.... I love the band. THEY HAVE COLLECTIVELY F"D UP. Doesn't matter where your fan base it... it's fact.. These are self entitled over indulged children and someone let them run amuck...now we own this atrocity.
Did Lindsey do any one thing to cause this--my argument is no. Nor did Stevie or Mick. I find it offensive that people are hauling out stories from Lindsey's past to try to justify this. It's insulting and if people want to discuss further, I am happy to. Stevie herself defended Lindsey (and apologized to him) from some pretty slanderous comments Mick made in one of his fictitous diatribes. The egos at play with this group are gargantuan, and none of them live in a reality based world. Let the past go.. they have. I choose to believe the comments they all make about each other are tinged in truth (both positive and negative). Stevie wouldn't be where she is without Lindsey and vice versa. Unfortunately, this lot is on the shorter end of the time spectrum, and if they don't get their isht together soon, someone is going to be singing "Landslide" at someone else's funeral.

If Lindsey choose not to speak, we will never know the details, no. But there was an ultimatum, and for some fans it's easier to believe this is not true. That Stevie had nothing to do with this. But she was and his family agrees with it.

I think it's worth mentioning that Lindsey never really issues statements. Like ever. After he left after Tango, he released exactly one statement that revealed absolutely nothing of what happened, just basically a confirmation that he was indeed no longer in the band and that he wishes them well. That was it. When Mick's book came out he did not issue a statement. In interviews he did while promoting his OOTC album, that's when he finally said something about the book.
But other than that, Lindsey doesn't really say much to the press ever so the whole 'if he got mistreated in this why is he silent about it' argument doesn't have much weight because unless he's doing interviews to promote something, he's basically always silent.

Actually, I think it’s very likely she DID give an ultimatum. I want substantiated details as to WHY, as opposed to stories from secret sources. And I want to know why the others allowed her to give an ultimatum if she gave one. Especially if it is true he did everything to compromise. Chris and John ultimately did not put their feet down. Mike and Neil agreed to sign on. These are not stupid people. They know they can be sued if there was a breach of contract. They had their reasons and it comes back to Lindsey, they one they let go.

A "him or me" ultimatum means exactly that. There's no speculation in Stevie bringing more people to concerts than Lindsey.

No, that is what he told fans on the video but we don’t know what he told the band about compromise. Just like we don’t know the details behind what caused the alleged ultimatum and what motivated the others to side with Stevie if she was the ringleader. That's because they chose not to tell any of it. And not exactly because they didn't have the chance. Instead they chose to say he didn't want to tour until November 2019.
Everybody knows Stevie sells more tickets than Lindsey. I'm not gonna waste my time searching for ticket sales on both their solo tours.

We don’t know that saying he wanted to move the tour to November 2019 was a lie, or something Lindsey did say at some point at some point. The fan video could have been shot after that initial conversation with the band, but before he had a conversation with the rest of the band about a compromise. No one truly knows the time-frame. Of course she sells more tickets. That is not the speculation part. The speculation part is what motivated the others to side with Stevie if there was an ultimatum. We don’t know that ticket sales was the reason. It is an assumption.

.
One of the members of the Buckingham McVie touring band commented on a post in an LB facebook group and said that it's not true that Lindsey wanted them to delay the tour. He said that Lindsey was excited for it and had even shared the rehearsal dates with him. The information that Rick Turner shared also corroborates this. This is also what the people with 'sources' had said-- and they'd actually been saying that since before the conversation with Rick happened, before the BuckVie band member said anything, before that video was posted. What he wanted, according to Rick and to those people, was to be allowed to do solo shows in between the Mac tour, exactly as that video indicates he was planning.
And you're right that we weren't there, and maybe earlier on he had asked if they could delay the tour. But as all of those people made clear, that was not the case at the time of the firing and that's what really matters. He was not insisting they delay it, nor was he issuing any ultimatums that he wouldn't tour.

So, Stevie and Mick weren't lying about the delay until November 2019, but Lindsey was lying about wanting to do both tours? 6 days after that video he was fired. I think it's safe to assume Mike Campbell was approached before Musicares. And don't tell me this is speculation.

No matter if the Pope himself confirms it. It's just speculation.:laugh:

So, Stevie and Mick weren't lying about the delay until November 2019, but Lindsey was lying about wanting to do both tours? 6 days after that video he was fired. I think it's safe to assume Mike Campbell was approached before Musicares. And don't tell me this is speculation.
Money moves the world, but you clearly don't get it.
I didn’t say Lindsey was lying. I said that was a conversation between him and fans on what he saw happening. When was the band told of this compromise? How did the conversation go?
Money is definitely a factor and they would have made more with the Rumours lineup. So the compromise conversation must have happened too late, or it was a bad conversation, or something else happened.

Understood but that is what I mean with I believe it is really less about the "what" and more about the "why". Even if Stevie made the ultimatum, why? Did Lindsey hit her? (not saying he did, just proposing that we don't know the backstory). And even if he did hit her. Why? Did she provoke him? And why? What did he do to trigger that?
So, people hanging their salem witch trials to burn Stevie because they have proof (or believe they do) that she issued an ultimatum is nothing in today's climate of fake or at least incomplete news. Or trying to brand Lindsey as the abuser or Mick as the money hungry ass. It's just way too oversimplified to do that. After all of those years, for THIS to have happened - the truth is way more complicated and they are ALL involved. We SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW. This can not be blamed on Stevie. Nor Mick. Nor Lindsey. Until we know. and we may never...

If Lindsey was an abuser Stevie most likely would be dead.
Who provokes more than her? No 1.
If I were a betting man I'd place a wager that it most definitely
was Stevie who is at fault here. It's in her character to do so.

What a sad mess. I'm remembering an early rumor here that Mick asked a bunch of tour folks who would be the bigger draw, Lindsey or Stevie, and supposedly the answer was Stevie. If that was truly the deciding factor, and if it came down to firing one or the other, my question is, was he wrong to fire Lindsey? If Stevie is the bigger draw, financially it makes more sense for them. After all, touring is where Mick and John derive their income, they're not song writers. And they may have recorded Buck/Vie together, but Lindsey and Christine then went on a lengthy tour without them. Not saying that was wrong or right, just that that's what happened. And Christine and Lindsey played smaller venues at lesser prices. From a business standpoint, I can see why Mick may have done this. No matter, it's still ugly, but from a strictly financial and business pov, it kind of makes sense more sense to me now.

Maybe I've missed something in the reams of threads on this subject, and I certainly haven't read everything on this board, but....
Is it not simply that Lindsey's suggestion was either - I do my solo tour dates at the same time as the FM tour, OR we delay the tour for a year so I can do my solo tour first. Neither of which was ok for the band and it's promoters, and they couldn't find any other compromise, and so reluctantly decided that the only option was to fire him so that they could get moving with the tour.
I really don't believe they came to this decision lightly at all. In the Sirius interview, they don't particularly look over the moon about what's happening, more like resigned to what had to be, and determined to make the best of the situation.
Maybe Lindsey was furious that they wouldn't allow any solo dates during the FM tour, and he wouldn't have the time to do what he needed to do before the tour, and the other members were furious he wouldn't budge on this.
So basically there was a huge s*itstorm added to the already heightened tensions within the band, build up during the last couple of years, and the result of all that is Lindsey being fired.

Unfortunately, this lot is on the shorter end of the time spectrum, and if they don't get their isht together soon, someone is going to be singing "Landslide" at someone else's funeral.

After Tom's passing you would expect SN to want to stay close and nurture the relationships that have been 'pivotal' in her life not cut them off. She clearly does not cope well with grief and behaves irrationally and without consideration. If BuckNicks never make peace again then I would hate to be in SNs shoes if something happened to LB.

Its crazy Christine says she was not involved at all and heard of Lindsey's firing when she got back from London. Mick and Stevie did this purposely when Christine was away and before she got back?
How are you a member of a band and the rest of the band tells you they fired another member. Would you not be consulted or notified of what was going on.

Which only goes to show this was all Mick and Stevie's doing. But of course the icon worshippers will not accept such facts and will invent scenarios left and right contradicting videos and direct testimony. Stevieland has such weird inhabitants.

Sorry, but it IS easy in Micks case. From everything I gathered over the last 41 years, one thing has never changed even the slightest bit. Mick can't handle money. He is constantly overspending and he listens to shady people. He is three times divorced with kids and had countless girlfriends, that also costs him a fortune. And he likes to occupy himself in real estate, without any luck. More than once, his bandmates had to help him out, financially. That are the facts WE ALL KNOW. His only steady income is Fleetwood Mac, so he milks the cow as much as he can and then some. He will never learn. Right now, we see the consequences of that. Stevie means more money, so - bye Lindsey. Next step - increasing the ticket prices into astronomical sums, with 600$ on the side for meet and greet.
Mick is just greedy.

If this happened in 1980, she probably would have. I think this just shows how weak she is in the band right now. If she had quit, Mick would probably still be trying to pedal this tour without her. After all, they'd still have Stevie. They'd still have John. They'd still have a Heartbreaker.
At this point, Christine's probably more hurt by John doing this behind her back than Mick because I think she expects better from John.
Anyway, she is rolling along with it. Whatever legitimate reasons she might have for doing so, I agree that does make her complicit.

1) they didn't bill themselves as FM
2) the album was supposed to be a FM album and if SN had participated they all would have made money on a much bigger, more profitable tour. So that kinda knocks down the theory that she's about helping them make money
3) it seems very likely Mick and John could have been asked to participate in the BV tour. Yeah it would have upped the profit sharing but it might well have also upped the ticket sales/venue sizes to offset that

And at the end it was Lindsey's fault for recording with Christine. He pushed her to do the album so it's not her fault. Only his. So, at the end of the day, we all agree Stevie got Lindsey fired because of BV. :p

Yes, yes, "majority rules" and all that. But it would have been decent of them to at least ask her what she thought before making the decision, give her a chance to make her voice heard. Who knows, maybe she would have been OK with it. It shows such a lack of respect that they didn't even consult her.
As for the whole "keeping her out of the decision to spare her awkwardness" argument... I would rather be given a voice than have someone else take my voice away from me in the name of "sparing me" anything. It's called having agency. They must think Christine is a very weak woman if they believe she can't handle the consequences of her own decisions, and they would be incredibly presumptuous to make that kind of call "on her behalf" in any case.
Alternatively, she was on board with it, but was not gung-ho about it, and thus has asked to be characterized as someone who was not a part of the decision-making process at all. With all the lies going around, this is not outside the realm of possibility.

Yes, yes, "majority rules" and all that. .
this is the joke of it. I re-watched the CBS interview. The interviewer says "Stevie Nicks agreed with the decision" to let LB go, and they go to Stevie and she says they are a team, and one of the members didn't want to go on the road when the rest of the team did.
And I stop the video there and go, well....ok. If that's your criterion, then YOU should have been kicked out in the past several years-- TWICE. Once when the "majority rules" i.e. LB, Mick, John wanted to go on tour in 2010/2011/2012 and YOU didn't want to go until 2013 because you had solo stuff to do.
And then again in what 2016? I think it was... when the MAJORITY again wanted to make an album, and even ALL went into the studio together and began recording, and YOU refused, and did solo stuff instead.
So for them to sit there with straight faces and say the reason was due to him not wanting to tour, or even if they said he was 'refusing' to tour.....it wouldn't change the fact that they totally put up with it TWICE from her.
And when they did put the album out with all 4, they didn't fire her and get a replacement for her AND they didn't call it FM. Which, according to the logic they spout in these interviews, they should have done,
yeah, yeah, she brings more money etc etc. We get that. Then just admit it. We're not Beliebers, we're all grown ups. We know how the world works. Just say, Lindsey and Stevie don't like each other, Lindsey doesn't bring in the bucks for touring the way she does, so.....there you go. Don't let the door hit you on the way out :wavey:

if people are happy with this situation, why not enjoy it instead of coming on here and sh**ing on people who are sad about what happened?
I don’t know how many times I had explained the same situation. But everything is “speculation” or “allegedly” or “we don’t know that”. Half of the people close to Lindsey have more or less explained what we have explained, but they need proofs. Not even Lindsey will convinced them.

so tired of all the bs.

I think SN supporters perhaps may be surprised or shocked that deep down she was capable of instigating his firing after all their history and success together. I mean if you look at it objectively, it's a very spiteful, selfish and hurtful thing to do to someone. I guess people also want the details of what was exactly said when they fought and the ultimatum was given as well as how the dialogue went when LB was told. Unfortunately we will probably, quite rightly, not ever know that, as if LB speaks it may not necessarily be the exact truth and will be told from his point of view. But in saying that we do know the exact details of his firing from multiple sources and that is basically fact now not gossip......

those Stevie supporters are mostly now ex-supporters, though. and more sad about this whole situation than LB fans or general FM fans. here and there some are just out of the loop, or cannot believe it.
her continuing and strongest supporters? like i said - they are jumping up and down and gloating in SN groups. then they come to FM groups or on here or even to LB groups and act all shocked.

Isn’t Steve married to or dating Lindsey’s niece Cory? Methinks could make for an awkward situation for him
Wait... what??? She's dating his niece?? She always said she liked men too much. Or was that another lie?? It gets more & more confusing by the minute....

Well, there we have it. Named sources.
I'm so disappointed in Stevie.
Having met Christine numerous times, she's anything but weak. Back in the 80's she had an aura about her that said:"Do NOT mess with me". You just couldn't do anything other than respect her. She was a strong willed woman. Which is why I'm so surprised about her reaction to Lindsey's firing although I have to say she didn't look quite happy in the CBS interview. Knowing what I know about her is that she raised hell about it but went along with it in the end and that doesn't sit right with me. She had nothing but praise for him...
In some interview, I don't remember which one, I read that Mick & Stevie had to talk John into it. I'm surprised he didn't call her and told her about it. It sounds like she was made aware of Lindsey's firing after the fact. Like someone said, her vote was irrelevant. And maybe -but this is pure speculation on my part - they told her:"If you don't like it, you can go as well". Who knows??

As you said in another thread, relax my friend
What you describe goes both ways, I think you would agree. I remember a comment someone made about Stevie having to make 24 Karat Gold to fulfill a contract, and you said something along the lines of "prove it." Believe me, I'm not trying to start a war or anything with you. I understand you're angry about this, and rightfully so. I'm not trying to get you to change your mind or anything like that, I just want you to know sometimes it seems like you're doing the same thing you say others are doing.
As far as Stevie superfans gloating about Lindsey no longer being in FM, that's just gross. Why anyone would be happy he's gone is beyond me. He is part of why people love FM, and by extension, the individual band members. All 5 of them, together, created something magical that was beyond their ability individually. That's not to say they're not capable of making incredible music on their own- Lindsey, Stevie, and Christine all have great songs on their solo albums, to say the least. And I enjoyed BTM and SYW, but the Rumours 5 are a winning combination. I'm glad that at least on the Ledge, I haven't seen any gloating that he's gone. It's one thing to accept there's a new lineup, or even be intrigued or excited about it, but it's another thing entirely to gloat about someone being fired.

Okay here are names:
Rick Turner, the man behind the brand of Turner guitars, which Lindsey has been loyal to for decades. Note: Lindsey is not his boss, he is not employed by Lindsey in any way, Lindsey just uses his guitars. He also didn't make some grand personal defense of Lindsey. What he said was just some facts, all very objective.
Federico Pol: the bass player from the BuckVie tour. Again, Lindsey isn't his boss. He was employed by Lindsey and Christine and their teams when they were on tour, they're no longer on tour. And he also made no great personal defense of Lindsey either. All he said was that it isn't true Lindsey was looking to delay the tour, he was excited for it and had even told him when the rehearsal dates were.
This all corroborates what all the people who claimed they had inside information had been saying for a long time. It is also corroborates that video of Lindsey telling the fans his plans for the year. But ya know, all these people and their straightforward claims just aren't reliable enough. And Lindsey himself just can't be 100% trusted when he says what he's planning :')

You made some very good points; the name calling, the bad behavior, the unpleasantness, it's happening on many fronts, certainly not on just one side, and I think it's important for everyone to acknowledge this and change it. Just because you disagree with something or someone is not a reason to resort to name calling. I appreciate a reasonable discussion but when people get heated, the conversation suddenly turns ugly. This applies to me as much as to anyone else.

No, I was talking about the children that are asking for proofs over, and over and over again. And no matter that other people here (not me) tell all of you what you are asking for.
This is the first personnel change in the band in over 28 years, so I honestly don't care very much if you like it or not that many of us write off the band of our lives, because two people in that band were part of his firing. Go and enjoy the tour. We will continue leaving bad reviews if we want to.
If you and your friends stop asking for proofs of everything we talk about in.every.post then maybe I'll have to stop explaining the questions ALL OF YOU ARE ASKKING OVER AND OVER AGAIN. My 300 posts is because of all of you who kept asking over and over again the same questions. I'm not trying to convince anyone. You stop asking, I stop posting.

Button-lip, in light of my last post, I would like to apologize to you as well. I thought about it and I am sorry that we keep locking horns on this issue. I respect that you are sad about the current band situation and that we all deal with things in different ways. I think that I will take my own advice and try to step away from all the "noise" of the current situation. Perhaps we all need a break. I hope that it is beautiful and sunny where you are and that you have a nice day.

Stop telling me how I'm suppose to feel. It doesn't help when you come out with condescending comments like the above. Try and respect that other people are very upset, and don't "move on" like you can.
But if we express our anger we're being disrespectul. :D

Thank you for posting the names.

During the breathless Stevie speakathon around the 10-15 min mark, does Stevie keep saying "Bob Welsh" or is it just me? (Sorry if it's already been mentioned.)

Like she would know the difference between that and his actual name. #dolt:D

Thanks for posting that. This is the first time I could actually listen to it and what a mess. This "new" band is not for me. They couldn't even keep their stories straight. #whoareyoupeople

Thanks for posting. So from Christine's own mouth, she gives her blessing on firing Lindsey. "I completely understood the decision". I'm not getting any sense of remorse or sadness that Lindsey is gone. She loves the vibe of the "new band".

I read it that way too. I know a lot of people keep saying that her body language said otherwise during the CBS interview but in this interview it's my opinion that she's on board with what transpired. She's a nearly 75 year old woman and if she wanted to make her opinion known she could have done it very easily.
I find the McVie's just as appalling as the other two with this decision.

I agree completely. ESPECIALLY after BuckVie. Was all that love staged, too?

100% agree with this--Christine's body language on CBS was horrific and they should all be mortified for that display--but this interview...she's totally on board with it. Wonder if it was recorded before or after CBS--I know Christine said a few things (namely the plan was to tour with Lindsey) that left Mick very displeased. I wonder if mgt/Mick--someone told her to tow the line (if this interview was recorded after?). The best part of the interview was the hosts EVISCERATING the band afterward. Fantastic.

I seem to be in the minority, at least compared with the most frequent posters in the rumours forum, but I'm quite excited about this new line-up.
Same here.

I'm definitely excited about the new lineup.

If they recorded new music prior to this tour I would REALLY REALLY be excited about this line up.
