Looks like The Dealer really is the first single!

What an unexpected track list... I never, ever thought I'd see Mabel Normand on an album.

Blue Water, All The Beautiful Worlds, and If You Were My Love... all favs. Glad to see they made it. Lots of unknown tracks, though!

HOLY F**K!!!!! This might be more exciting than the Instagram updates we're waiting for!!!

Four of my favorites/wishlist made the cut!!! THANK GOD "Blue Water" is on this list!!! I'm on cloud nine!:blob2::blob2::blob2:

I wonder if "Lady" is "Knocking On Doors"? And any speculation as to what "Hard Advice" might be?

Another version of "Twisted"?

Yeah. This is great! This listing makes so much sense and makes me sooooooooo very happy! I guess since the three Rhiannon songs aren't on here, then maybe she IS planning on doing something with that project soon.

I will shed one lonely tear for the exclusion of "Night Gallery" and move on...

I now remember reading about the track "Hard Advice" in some late 90's interview, but had completely forgotten about it.
I am so pleased with the inclusion of "All The Beautiful Worlds", "Blue Water" and "She Loves Him Still". I wondered if "Cathouse Blues" would be included, but had dismissed the notion. Dave would love this track. That must be the 1969 song.

It'll be very interesting to hear how she'll pull off Mabel Normand with her current voice. Part of what made that demo so great was it's coke fueled zaniness.

I'm not surprised Space Needle isn't present. It was just too dark for Stevie to release.

This album looks so amazing.

So I've heard of, but never heard, Carousel, and
I know Hard Advice has been mentioned, but I don't know if anyone's ever heard it? I guess it's not a precursor to That Made Me Stronger.

Finally, I love how we now have the tracklist, but Stevie's Instagram hasn't been updated. I wonder what we'll get to hear...

I'm actually kind of glad there's no "Julia". The Bella Donna version is finished and is perfection already. I'm willing to bet it will be released someday on a BD anniversary edition or some kind of Stevie retrospective collection.

I think "Lady" MIGHT BE what we've known as "Knocking On Doors".

I can only speculate that "Julia" and "Space Needle" are going straight to the new Fleetwood Mac album. She needs to save some strong cuts for that record. WATCH CHAIN made it!!! I have been waiting at least 10 years for a formal studio version of that song! :]

Songs from my wishlist that made it:

Starshine
If You Were My Love
24 Karat Gold
Belle Fleur
All The Beautiful Worlds
Watch Chain
Blue Water
The Dealer

Songs I will be a little sad about (or holding out for on the FM record):
Forest Of The Black Roses
Maker Of Birds
Forsaken Love
Mixdown/Love And War
City Of Hope
Love You Enough

Songs I'm really surprised didn't make it:
Space Needle
Have No Heart

This is true, but it does make two versions of the song given a proper release. But, I remember her saying that the placement of that song at the end of the movie caused her message to people to be lost, and that she wasn't too happy about that. Maybe in the Enchanted liner notes? I guess she really wants to drive her point home.

I dreamed about the tracklist last night and most of the songs on it we had never heard of. I'm beginning to truly believe I'm at least partially psychic.

I've seen "Hard Advice" (which everyone assumed was a working title for "That Made Me Stronger," but evidently not) and "Carousel" on lists of uncirculated demos. No clue what "Lady" and "I Don't Care" could be.

It's a very unexpected tracklist, although some favorites are on it. I'm not entirely surprised by the absence of "Julia" and the Rhiannon songs. Thrilled that "If You Were My Love" made it.

I'm hoping it's because they retained that R&B, funky bass feel, like the demo. If so, then maybe it's a bonus track because it doesn't match the vibe of the other tracks.

I guess I just feel like the versions I have of those are basically complete. They're not reel-demos with no instrumentation or backgrounds. There's not talking over the mix, or missing the words. I really did expect Julia to be there anyway.

But hey, maybe she'll do a "Volume 2." Or... she had 10 songs on the last FM album, I know she won't have that many this time, but she could easily have 6 or 7 if it's a double album, as has been suggested.

Anyone else find it odd that the sequencing between the normal CD and the Expanded CD is really kind of schizophrenic? "The Dealer" is track 2 on the normal, and is track 15 on the expanded.

Belle Fleur ~ normal 11/expanded 6
Blue Water ~ normal 4/expanded 13

...just to give a few examples.

Do you think this was Stevie's decision? Do two songs really make the sequencing change up so drastically?

Or do you think it has to do with the length of each track, for vinyl pressing purposes? Sides A, B, C and D need to be under a specific time frame in order to sound good.

I would be ecstatic if she did a country album/tour. But I don't think that would be a risk she is willing to run. Maybe an EP with a short little tour at some point? :)

It's funny. I never ever though I'd hear them do Silver Springs live. Ditto Storms. Ditto Beautiful Child. Ditto Garbo, Twisted, Gold and Braid (again), and Rose Garden. So it just goes to show you that you never know.

Sometimes it's a Bitch. The bitching has begun!

Great to know the song selection! Accept it for what it is, not what you wanted it to be. These are Stevie's selections, not ours. Get over your personal disappointment. Be grateful we have another Stevie Nicks album, and we didn't have to wait a decade for it.

As some Ledgies predicted, several of the song titles are new to us. All of the songs would be new to us if they weren't so heavily circulated since the early 1980s. In more primitive times we traded/shared them on cassettes by snail mail. Only in the internet age did they become accessible to the entire world.

I'm certainly getting the 16 song deluxe version. Wasn't it stated that 18 songs were recorded? If so, I'm sure those two songs will eventually pop up. Maybe Stevie earmarked some other vault songs for Fleetwood Mac to record. There is still hope that some of your favorite songs that didn't make the cut will emerge. Otherwise, well, you still have the demos!

Those first 4 are all so very exciting!

The loss of Joan of Arc, Mirror Mirror, Cecelia, and Forest Of The Black Roses stings, though. Not that I ever expected any to be there, mind you. Maybe on the next album? :D

I'm not nuts about Stevie's vocal on the Dealer, but I'm hoping it's just a poor mix on my crappy laptop/cell phone speakers. Like I've said before, it's not one of my fav demos anyway, so it's kind of a moot point. However, I do love the fact they chose to channel the Tusk Dealer vs the Bella Donna one. :)

What I find fascinating right now is the selection of songs Stevie settled on for this album. It's interesting to me, that of all the songs on YouTube, these are the songs that she listened to and said "Nope never really gonna use that." Because the songs that didn't get picked are sort of...glaringly obvious - be they the Rhiannon songs, or things like Gypsy Beggar, Something Exquisite, Beautiful Ghost, Forsaken Love, Love Don't Fail Me Now (seriously, one of her best forays into pop songwriting ever), Prettiest Girl In The World, Have No Heart, All the King's Horses, Chanel Chanel - one might conclude that the songs she didn't choose are still, in her mind, material that could be used for a 'regular' Stevie Nicks release, instead of a 'from the vault' release.

Even stranger to me is the inclusion of Twisted - even as a bonus track - because it's already been released. I can only assume that she didn't care for the end product with Lindsey's involvement, but the more likely scenario is that she feels strongly enough about the song being 'lost' or 'forgotten' that she choose to re-record it for this special album.

I am convinced that Lady is something we know, but with a different title.

I Don't Care and Hard Advice, I suspect, are not songs she gleaned from YouTube, which brings me back to my original point of how really very interesting it is to ponder the songs she didn't choose, as opposed to the songs she did. Were there not enough choices from YouTube? Were too many of them songs that she wants to reserve, so to speak, for future projects - or perhaps many of them are completed as far as she is concerned, and waiting to be added to expanded albums, like Julia for Bella Donna?

Does anyone think she might do this again?

I'm going to compile a list of what *didn't* get picked.

The reality is, with one or two exceptions, Stevie probably didn't actually get most of these songs from Youtube. Something like The Dealer has probably been in her mind to officially record for years. Yes, maybe she went to Youtube to listen to it again, but she didn't discover the bulk of them again on Youtube the way she says she did Without You. She probably had a list she was thinking of and sent other people to Youtube to help her figure out which from that list would make the cut.

And you're right that what she didn't choose is interesting. Because then everyone will have to make two columns and decide if she didn't choose it because she rejected it for good or because she's saving it for later. With the Rhiannon songs, based on what she's been saying for decades now, she's saving them, for sure. With other songs, as was discussed withSpace Needle, that song is never going to be released. It's over. Fergeddaboutit.

Very excited by the track listing. Includes some favorites—The Dealer, Blue Water, She Loves Him Still, If You Were My Love—and some great surprises: Mabel Normand, Cathouse Blues.

Looking forward to hearing the unknown tracks, too.

Very grateful that we're getting to hear these great old songs redone with a contemporary flare.

So much to say, but I'll start with this: I am beyond thrilled with the track listing. It doesn't include every song on my wish list, but it does include many, along with a handful of songs I've never heard, which makes me that much more excited.

The iTunes preview of the Dealer, along with the snippets that Dave has posted so far, all sound great to my ear. And the Dealer is only going to sound better once downloaded and on vinyl - iTunes previews never have good song quality.

And I LOVE, LOVE the cover art - absolutely gorgeous. The handwriting is just perfect.

I, too, was struck by the different track listings. If I recall correctly, there was some disagreement between Stevie and the label as to the proper track listing for IYD, and an early acetate/press release had a different track listing (one that I by far preferred over the final one). All of which makes me wonder whether this is a way to split the baby. But in the end, I tend to think that the differences are meant to accommodate the space limitations of vinyl, and to a lesser extent the inclusion of the two additional bonus tracks.

Finally, the track listing makes me feel pretty confident that Stevie intends to release the Rhiannon songs as a separate project, whether it be as a solo project or with FM.

CANNOT wait for this to be released. :blob2:

That's how I thought the whole album was. She knew about these songs, but she doesn't have the tapes, so they "found" them on YouTube (in that they intentionally went looking for them) and used the YouTube recording to reconstruct the songs.

I suspect we actually do know Lady and I Don't Care, just not the way they're titled and rebuilt. Hard Advice and Carousel I think are uncirculated (unless they were just misnamed online to begin with). We'll find out soon.

I could easily see Have No Heart and Space Needle turning up on an expanded edition of TISL, or even the new FM album (think about how dark most of her contributions to SYW were). But also, she probably has good board tapes of those songs. It wouldn't be hard for her to just issue them later, as an "outtakes" project where she doesn't re-record anything... or for b-sides or soundtracks, or whatever.

Because the songs that didn't get picked are sort of...glaringly obvious - be they the Rhiannon songs, or things like Gypsy Beggar, Something Exquisite, Beautiful Ghost, Forsaken Love, Love Don't Fail Me Now (seriously, one of her best forays into pop songwriting ever), Prettiest Girl In The World, Have No Heart, All the King's Horses, Chanel Chanel - one might conclude that the songs she didn't choose are still, in her mind, material that could be used for a 'regular' Stevie Nicks release, instead of a 'from the vault' release.

I Don't Care and Hard Advice, I suspect, are not songs she gleaned from YouTube, which brings me back to my original point of how really very interesting it is to ponder the songs she didn't choose, as opposed to the songs she did. Interesting speculations. All the songs you mention are worthy of release. Glad you gave credit to Love Don't Fail Me Now; a great song that sort of fell off our radar. Notice how she is still using vintage photos from years past, like she did for Crystal Visions? I expected current Stevie photos; I guess she likes living in the past.

I must have heard the "Mabel Normand" demo many years ago and just not retained the memory, but recently dug it up again due to a recent discussion on this forum. Well I couldn't believe what I was hearing and had to turn it off before it was finished because it truly was an assault to the ears. I'm just wondering what must have been going through Stevie's and Dave's minds when they chose to record it? Could we have just heard an embryonic demo and perhaps it did eventually evolve into an actual song? Is it more than just a coke-fuelled rant?

I just want to be clear that I'm not complaining about the track-listing, just making observations, when I comment on the likes of "Mabel Normand" and perhaps something like "Hard Advice" (the title doesn't bode well). To be honest, I'm truly pleased about certain inclusions ("All The Beautiful Worlds", "She Loves Him Still", "Blue Water") and omissions ("Space Needle", "Joan Of Arc"). I wanted the "Rhiannon" songs and "Julia" to be included, but the track I would have staked my life on being present is "Sanctuary". I'm truly shocked she didn't record this one. She may be saving this for the Mac, but it just reeks of vintage Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers so I would have thought this would be a solo recording.

well I for one am hoping this means the Rhiannon songs will be used for something amazing. I'd love to think Joan of Arc would finally get done by Fleetwood Mac, but… who knows. Not sure what the story is with Julia, but Have No Heart surely is better than some of what made it-- and I'm thinking of you, Mabel Normand.

I have to think though that the Rhiannon songs are destined for something more. It could well be too that her present voice just doesn't do them the same justice.

Ditto.
There's no reason to buy it twice. Hopefully we get some clarification tomorrow.

I bought the single just because I wanted it now, but I was so excited earlier that I decided to stay up and pre-order at midnight, despite having to be up for the gym and work at 5 a.m.... eek. But I'm not going to miss anything if I pre-order tomorrow morning, right? I mean, really, it's not going to sell out in the first six hours hahaha

Just bought The Dealer from iTunes.

Love it! Sounds great….Yes, Stevie is older and her voice is different, but it's still a strong, solid performance. Will it burn up the charts? No. Am I glad to have it? Yes!

So much wasted space on this album:(

But how do we know this yet? Many fan favorites are on this album, along with some songs that surprised us, and some songs that we (maybe) haven't heard. For me, that's far more exciting than getting an album filled with expected songs.

Is there any kind of advantage for pre-ordering a digital download? It's not like they're going to run out.

Not that I can tell with this one. Sometimes they'll give you an un-named bonus track or something only with the pre-order, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

well I for one am hoping this means the Rhiannon songs will be used for something amazing.

I think we'll get them at some point. I agree, it seems like she chose to leave them off, which means she probably still has some sort of plan for them.

So far, it appears that way. We know there's more versions coming though, so I wouldn't worry too much. I imagine we'll get the preorder info for hard copy from Instagram (someday, anyway). Stevie needs to have a chat about follow-through with whoever is in charge of her online presence. It's one thing to not post any updates on your networking site. It's another thing to direct all your fans to said site for an update about something you're trying to sell them and then not show up, not say anything, and not provide any info. That is bad business right there.

Stevie herself referred to the song as "At The Fair" at the Ohio State Fair in 1994.

And Carousel is not one word in at the fair, or any stevie demo we know

It may not have been copyrighted until '89. But I've seen Carousel on many demo lists but never heard it so who knows? At The Fair is a pretty short demo if I recall. So Carousel could be part of the finished lyrics? I don't know. But I love all this speculating.

I like Cathouse Blues, and I really can't see her changing the idea of that song too much. There might be new verses/instrumentation, but I think it will still basically be the same song. I expect that Mabel Normand must have received a grand restructuring, though. It's so anti-cohesive in it's current state.

Only odd inclusion is Twisted. I cannot fathom that one at all. Am I on crack, or wasn't that song mentioned loads of times in the run up to The Dance as being the reason she felt she could sing with Lindsey again? Unless it's a different song with the same title maybe?

YAY for All The Beautiful Worlds, If You Were My Love and Watch Chain. ATBW and Watch Chain are just instantly classic Stevie songs. While IYWML... I hope they've gone for the epic Mirage demo feel rather than the complete and utter turd that is the SA demo.

Before the tracklist turned up, I thought that *maybe* the "song that had been played live" could have been Sweet Girl, since there was only a studio demo and a live release.

Twisted is a better song that Sweet Girl, imo. I'm really surprised it's on this record, but I can kinda see how it might fit musically, if she worked out the version from the Enchanted Tour. Despite this being a "demos" album, I guess she went for a musical theme too, and Twisted could sorta fit that theme. At least that's what I'm hoping, because it means this album could be as good as BD.

"Twisted" is a total head-scratcher to me. The studio version with Lindsey is pretty damn perfect, and we even have the demo version for color & contrast. I just don't see the point of recording it yet again.

That said, I'm very happy with the track-listing. There's a great variety of beloved fan favorites and unknown songs (well, at least unknown by these titles). Plus, "She Loves Him Still" is on there. I'm thinking Julia sounded too musically similar to the Dealer for it to be included? As an interesting side note, it turns out the entire story behind the movie Julia was a fabrication- the author claimed it was based on her life. I wonder if that's why Stevie has never touched the song?

Yeah, the inclusion of Twisted is absolutely baffling. First it was on the Twister soundtrack with Lindsey & it was brilliant. Then Stevie released the demo version on Enchanted. And now we're getting it yet again? What kind of sense does that make?

I'm thinking Julia sounded too musically similar to the Dealer for it to be included? As an interesting side note, it turns out the entire story behind the movie Julia was a fabrication- the author claimed it was based on her life. I wonder if that's why Stevie has never touched the song?

Yeah, the inclusion of Twisted is absolutely baffling. First it was on the Twister soundtrack with Lindsey & it was brilliant. Then Stevie released the demo version on Enchanted. And now we're getting it yet again? What kind of sense does that make?

Julia is not a total fabrication, but it never happened to Lillian Hellman. It happened to a lady who had the same lawyer as Lillian Hellman. It is said she heard that story from her lawyer and then stole it. She wrote the Chidren's Hour too, which was a good movie.

So I know there are a lot of demo bootlegs out there. Now that we know the exact track listing of 24 Karat, it would be fun to do the same listing with the old demos. Then, when the new album is officially out, we can all compare and contract old recording vs new recording.

Of course, I'm not talented enough to upload my bootlegs but just a thought!! :p

I'm kind of fascinated by the inclusion of Carousel and Hard Advice, two demos which we've had the titles of for years, but have never been circulated.

Me too, especially for Carousel. I remember looking for that song on YouTube fairly recently and thinking I must have confused it with Castaway or something.

I spent some time listening to the clip of I Don't Care. I am convinced that I know the melody and the rhythm from somewhere, but I can't place it...

ME TOO!!! And add "I Don't Care" to that list. We're essentially getting 3 BRAND NEW Stevie songs with these. Yes, they may be old demos but they're brand new to all of us.

It's a bit of a flip flop, isn't it? For the past few solo and FM records, we've always gotten a slew of brand new songs plus 3 songs from the vault that we had heard prior...and now we're getting a slew of re-recorded vault songs, already circulated and 3 brand new uncirculated vault songs.

I might be more excited about these 3 "new" songs than the other previously circulated 13.

I believe we will discover we know I Don't Care, and potentially all feel like idiots for not recognizing it.

Well, Baby Doll is one of the songs I think it could be. Other candidates are What Has Rock & Roll Ever Done For You, and maybe, maybe a seriously ramped up version of Mixdown, but I think it's one of the other two.

Yeah, you were not happy at all. Glad you're feeling better about it now, though.

her voice was soooo amazingly flexible at the time she recorded this demo… she could go straight from low to high and smooth to raspy on a dime. Her voice today can not do that, so I'm curious to see what they've done.

Falsetto + backup harmonies stacked on the low octave. That's what I'm hoping for, anyway. I think she can easily pull off the notes with 2 octaves between if she uses her falsetto, and it's appropriately supported by Sharon and Lori.

and of course she's so much more nasal now.

She Loves Him Still is the one that has me worried. The demo was just soooo….I dunno. the raw emotion of it was killer. I hope it hasn't been vanilla'ed out. Fingers crossed.

I must say, regarding the track list, when we initially got the "official" listing (sans "Turnstile 69", thank God ) for the first few days, part of me was a tad disappointed (not gonna lie) that only 4 songs from my wishlist made the cut. Then I actually REALIZED that FOUR of my wishlist songs MADE THE CUT!!! And I scolded myself for being bummed and felt lucky that these 4 songs were even recorded in the first place. 4 songs I've adored for the longest time are going to be fully formed songs now. 4 songs is A LOT, compared to one song off my wishlist for IYD, and one song from my wishlist for SYW.

Today as I was looking over the tracklisting for "24 Karat Gold", thinking how long we've had 85% of the demos, I realized that all these tracks are STEVIE's favorites. And that's probably what's the most important thing about this "love letter to the fans". These are all songs that SHE loves. These are all the songs that SHE wants to share. And all of a sudden, it dawned on me ~ when it comes to her body of work, when it comes to her longevity as an artist, when it comes to the stories from these demos in which only we (as fanatics) have been privy, this is actually the PERFECT TRACK LISTING!

We've got 1 Buckingham Nicks era demo, 3 from Tusk, 4 from Bella Donna, 1 from Wild Heart, 2 from Rock A Little, and 2 pre TISL demos. Not too sure about which eras that "Lady", "Carousel" and "I Don't Care" come from.

Anyway, it's very well rounded. Most of her early Fleetwood Mac work and early solo career are represented in this set...and that's what makes this whole project exciting! That's what gets me pumped up and counting the days! It's been said a million times, but it sure is a THRILLING time to be a Stevie fan!

And like I always say (a million times)...everything I post is merely my humble opinion, of course. :D
