What is everyone's favorite title track from a Stevie Nicks album?

Why is it your favorite?

Which one is your least favorite?

Why is it your least favorite?

Which ones fell short?

Which ones should've been singles?

Discuss.

I find it very interesting that some of her title tracks never ended up as radio singles. A lot of them are pretty darn good. Like "Trouble In Shangri-La" which was discussed in another thread ~ why not that track instead of "Every Day"?

I had a hard time with this one. It was a tie between "TISL" and "Wild Heart" for me. I ended up voting for "The Wild Heart". It was my first Stevie concert and still, to this day, gets me going in the morning! It's a great "driving song" and "cardio" song for the treadmill. Plus her vocal, as raspy as it was starting to become, was so ON POINT! So in your face! This plus the lyrics made a great title track and really set the mood for the rest of the record! In her own words, "It's very Natalie Wood/James Dean! Bella Donna is WILDER!"

"Blame it on the angels..."

Can't leave without mentioning "Bella" and "Rock A Little" ~ Two more title tracks I also adore. I especially love the extended version of RAL with the "Hit the stage...dancing, I know Lily" line at the end complete with the weird key change and bridge that only lasts a few bars before going back into the chorus and ending.

"Street Angel" = yawn!

"In Your Dreams" ~ very upbeat. Very Heartbreakers-esque. The sentiment is cute and it's a fun song to jam to...but it's probably her least serious title track. I'm surprised she named an album after a song that is basically fluff. Lyrically, it's sweet, and I'm sure she takes it seriously. I just can't, for some reason. I kind of wish IYD would have been titled something else. I don't think any of the other titles in this collection merit the role of title track either. She should have gone with a song lyric, a la "Other Side Of The Mirror" with this album, IMO.

What are your opinions?

Trouble In Shangri La, because it's epic and sweeping.

Least favorite would be Bella Donna, because it's just not as grand or accessible as the others, but is still an excellent track.

All but Bella Donna, and Rock A Little should have been singles.

What a fantastic collection of songs! I'd never really thought about them as a group before. It's almost impossible to pick a favorite among these. I can pick a least favorite, though. That would go to Wild Heart. The first half of the song is fantastic- such fat, juicy vocals from Stevie. However, the song just goes to pot at the end... Stevie screaming incoherently about enchanted children and all that. It's just dreadful... even more egregious to me than the infamous Jane. I guess if I had to pick a favorite amongst these, it would be Rock A Little. It's not the best song by any means... but I adore it. It has such a thick, hazy, druggy, atmosphere. I can't hear the song to this day without picturing Stevie in a dark candle lit room doing blow off from a mirrored coffee table. The chorus is such an unexpected musical turn, and the way it bleeds back into the verses is just so fluid & genius.

If Rock A Little is ever remastered and expanded, I hope the full version of the title track is included.

Besides In Your Dreams, they are all epic and have a mystical/hypnotic feel to them. That is her trade mark. I voted wild heart because it is a journey from start to finish. It's my favorite. It's hard to rank the others. Maybe TISL as 2nd? In Your Dreams is fun, upbeat, and yes tom petty sounding. Completey different feel to it then the others. Unless Enchanted counts.

Oooooo. Ouch, Louie. LOL I understand what you mean, though, about the fat, juicy vocals leading into the screaming...except that happens to be my favorite part, next to the very end, "Wiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllllld hearttttttttt.." :D

Great pick! I love this one as well! You're right, she really paints a great picture, lyrically, with this track. Add to the dark room with the lines of coke a picture of her looking at herself in a huge cheval mirror doing pirouettes and singing along to the track on her cassette recorder.

If Rock A Little is ever remastered and expanded, I hope the full version of the title track is included.

I concur, wholeheartedly! I can only listen to this version. The album version just fades and makes you crave the rest of the track. I wonder why it was decided to severely edit this track? Length of vinyl time, perhaps? Same problem as "Silver Springs"? Still, I would have kept it and axed something else.

Should poor little "Alice" get an honourable mention. After all, she is going back... to the other side of the mirror...

This is so hard to choose. I would equally choose Bella Donna...Rock a Little. . TISL...and IYD.

I absolutely love this version of RAL. I never really appreciated the song until I heard the extended version.

Bella Donna. Although I love Wild Heart almost as much.

A little tough, but it's got to be either 'Bella Donna' or 'Rock A Little (Go Ahead Lily)'.

The former is a grand introduction to Stevie's best album, the best Fleetwood Mac solo album, and one of those rare albums that I consider to be just about perfect.

The latter is a hazy, crazy, mystical light show of Stevie's inner dialogue with herself. Go ahead Lily, hit the stage, dancin'. It's a mesmerizing trip every time I hear it.

I CANNOT CHOOOSE GAAAAAAAAH!!

Honestly, it's a toss between Rock a Little and In Your Dreams (in terms of SONG ... not being the title of an album)
though Bella Donna is a stand out because it's her first solo record

**What is everyone's favorite title track from a Stevie Nicks album?

it's a tie. seriously. Street Angel and RAL
i vote RAL ... though average joe has probably never heard of the song or even knows there is a record by that name :(
Obviously Street Angel is my favorite Stevie song
BUT i realize that is it not her most brilliant song ...lyrically and vocally
but it's special to me :D

**Why is it your favorite?

dunno. i just like it. and i think the tour was marvellous and it reflects a time when stevie was right up there drugs and all.

**Which one is your least favorite? // Why is it your least favorite?

Wild Heart. not really a fan of the album or the song. Probably the album I listen to the least. I don't dislike it, I just don't love it the way I do the others.

**Which ones fell short?

In Your Dreams. I love the song but i think it's a dumb play on words and not a good album title. i like that she keeps the "dreams" theme going but it doesn't need to be an album title. it could have been called Lady From the Mountain ... and that would have been really special <3

Which ones should've been singles?

** Street Angel and RAL lol

What is everyone's favorite title track from a Stevie Nicks album?

Why is it your favorite? **Wild Heart although I get Louie's comments about the enchanted children, but just like Gate and Garden with some ahem "questionable" lyric choices, she is singing so well here that she could pull anything off.

Which one is your least favorite? Although not on the list, I need to give dishonourable mention to Alice... feels like it kind of drones on, although the song had lots of promise with a spooky arrangement

Why is it your least favorite? Alice drags down an already dragging album, after getting off to a shining gem start with the wonderful Rooms on Fire, what the hell happened?

Which ones fell short? Rock a Little, I dislike the album but the song is pretty good and I like the lyrics, the arrangement needed to be more in your face for the song to have a lasting impact.

Which ones should've been singles? Trouble in Shangri La, a great well executed song, the only weakness, like Destiny Rules is the "granny-voiced" beginning but the chorus on this song is just wonderful and a highlight of the album. Bella Donna would've been a wonderful single, it kind of reminded me of Sara the way the song built towards a climax and would've sounded wonderful on the radio during the summer of '81.

Sorry for so many wonderful's

Trouble in Shangri-La by a country mile, with Wild Heart as a firm second.

TISL is just such an EPIC song and it kicks off the album brilliantly. The layered vocals, the buildup, the lyrics. Every thing about this song is a win for me.

Wild Heart (which I agree runs out of steam when she starts babbling about children and angels) is also just brilliant, the first verse in particular is epic. Her voice is also incredible on this song, I never grow tired of that last "WIIIIIIIIIIILD HEEEEEEART" wail thing she does

Bella Donna

Rock a Little is a close second.

I had to vote for Bella Donna, because that song is just amazing. Any alternative music fan who doesn't know much about Stevie Nicks or doesn't get the big deal? I play them Bella Donna. Job done.

Trouble in Shangri La is the song that made me love Stevie Nicks, and Wild Heart is thrilling, but Bella Donna is just so special. It was a tough one to call though.

I like In Your Dreams and Street Angel a lot too (please someone vote for Street Angel! Poor dear. I've never understood the hate for that one.) Rock a Little is, like most of the rest of that album, one that I've never really connected with much.

This came down to IYD nd BD for me. I went with IYD. I like its positivity and the energy that goes through it from beginning to end ('like a lion in the jungle that never stops running'). And, I like the different sections/movements it has.

I had to check to see if I replied to this in 2014.

This is easy. No question Bella Donna is the best title track. Nothing comes close. Its perfect. All others have shortcomings when compared to it. Least favorite is RAL. Hated it from the first time I heard it. Yes its worse than Street Angel. The cheap casio programmed track with Waddy putting a few licks on it does not cut it. Her voice is so raw that you can barely hear her.
Wild Heart is good but a missed opportunity for greatness. The ending is odd and feels unfinished. The tempo needs to be faster. The Deluxe version of Wild Heart had a better version but that one is a tad too fast. Its a great song but I think Jimmy was going for a more adult contemporary feel for the album. It needed more guitar and pounce!

I agree with you Nathan the energy in the IYD track is stellar. I would say TISL is a close second. BD and WH are tied for third…..but all of these are great. Street Angel comes in last.

For those that love The Wild Heart, here is a much better rough arrangement than what was on the album. You get 10 hours too!!!!

Enjoy :)
