"What fans may not know is how excited McVie is about performing her old Fleetwood Mac songs when the band reunites for a world tour, starting on September 30 in Minneapolis. Giving a sneak preview of the set list, McVie told Darren Haynes, Head of BASCA Marketing, Communications & Member Events, that Tusk-era deep cut 'Brown Eyes' would be included among her songs."

I found this on stevienicks.info..

So, Louie should be happy.

I knew they'd have one of her Tusk songs in there. Not the one I wanted. But they aren't even close to rehearsal yet. Things change. Michele

Not a bad choice, but I'd rather hear something from Mystery To Me or a pre Rumours era album song. Are you listening Christine?! Your history goes way back in FM!! There are so many other more interesting choices that we haven't heard in a long time.

I don't think they've forgotten. I think they just prefer to play songs from this lineup.

Pun intended, that's a Mystery To Me!! There are so many other songs in Chris's earlier FM repertoire that can easily hold a candle to "Brown Eyes". I think they misunderstand the depth of their fan base.

Thanks Jbrownsjr, that's so exciting! One of my favs from Tusk. Now that he's jammed with Nick Littlemore do you think Lindsey's heard Cut Copy's (slight) remix of Never Forget and they will be doing that too? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnJGH65tsy0

Love Brown Eyes so much, but isn't that song really about the awesome blend of layered vocal harmonies and crystal clear production with slow moving instrumentals on a background of silence? How on earth do you reconstruct that in concert?

I think it can work well live...they did it on the Mirage Tour in 1982 as well as during the 1987-88 tour.

So, Louie should be happy.

You know me well. :D Though it is probably my favorite Mac song, I do wonder if they will pull it off better than the Mirage tour. It was a snoozefest then. Rick Vito's blues guitar on the Tango tour was the counterpoint the song needed live. I wonder how the song will be arranged this time?

I really want Isn't It Midnight and Think About Me.

I really don't care if they do Little Lies or Everywhere...

Isn't It Midnight & Think About Me would be so much fun live. I would stand up and dance like a crazy person if those were performed.

And I agree about Little Lies & Everywhere.

They should have her do Never Forget as a closer instead of Songbird, but that will NEVER happen.

This is the set list
Christine:
Over My head
Brown eyes
Little Lies or Everywhere
Hold me
Songbird
You Make Loving Fun
Don't Stop

Stevie:
Sara
Rhiannon
Silver Springs
Gypsy
Gold Dust Woman
Dreams
Angel (her deep cut)
Stand Back
Landslide

Linsday:
Go your own Way
Big Love
Second Hand News
Monday Morning
I'm So Afraid
World Turning
Walk A Thin Line (his deep cut)
Never Going back again
And of course: The Chain

Little Lies would be great. It was only done live in the Rick/Billy era of the band. It would be nice to hear it live with the original line up.

I love all of her songs from 1971-1974, but the chances of her performing any of them is slim to none. A few of them trickled into their set lists in 1975-1977, but that was a transitional time, when they were bridging the gap between their past and their new line-up.

Get Like You Used to Be (Chicken Shack)
Believe Me
Jumping at Shadows (one off performance)
Why
Spare Me A Little

I aways entertained that thought too! The song's ending lends itself to a nice jam to end the show. The sentiment is so appropriate: "We will never forget tonight."

^^^ Cross off Hold Me (for Say You Love Me) and Walk a Thin Line (for Tusk), add one of Lindsey's go-to Tusk or Mirage songs (NTF, IKINW, EotW), and you've got a very realistic list. I just hope Say You Will is represented + that there is something new as well.

Why does that happen on a Fleetwood Mac board? I'm not trying to pile on. I genuinely wonder if people are just being perverse when they do it. Like how I always spell Baz Lurhmann's name Bazz Luhrmann. Just cuz it cracks me up.

ETA:

Here's a whole page devoted to people discussing the spelling of the name "Lindsay" with an "a"... and specifically, numerous times reference Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac as one of the most famous bearers of that particular "a" spelling. http://www.behindthename.com/name/lindsay/comments

I know most Stevie fans would go nuts if Angel were to return to the setlist (count me as one of the very few who would not be amused).

Walk A Thin Line would be wonderful... it's such a beautiful song. I think it'd make a very nice companion to Brown Eyes in the setlist.

Elle would have to go to a concert or two or three or four if that happened.

Maybe Christine will do Think About Me as well? Stevie + Lindsey have both done more than one song from Tusk in past concerts. There's just an embarrassment of riches for Christine to choose from. I'm kind of hoping she doesn't do Over My Head, which gives the chance to do something from Mirage or a second song from Tango (probably her strongest batch of songs compared to Lindsey's and Stevie's offerings for that album) or a pre-75 'oldie' (much less likely).

Brown Eyes is sublime live.

Max_RedRover

Some pre-75 Christine songs would be SO sweet ...

"WHY" being arguably the greatest ...

"Spare Me a Little" would be sublime as well and more of an "up" number.

"Did You Ever Love Me" as a Lindsey/Chris duet would be magical - I hear Brett Tuggle's an incredible steel-drum player ...

"Get Like You Used to Be" would be sweet and such a "full-circle" moment as it's what opened their FIRST EVER shows together as a five-piece.

As far as post-75 songs go:

"HOLD ME" is a necessity.

"LITTLE LIES" would be oh-so-sweet, especially hearing Stevie and Lindsey do their "...tell me lies!" and "Tell me, tell me lies!" lines!!!!!

"THINK ABOUT ME" would be brilliant as it's such a beloved song amongst the hipsters and younger FM fans and again how much fun would it be to hear Lindsey screaming: "Every, every once in awhile!" etc.

I'd also ADORE hearing "Over and Over" as live it's such a slow-burning wonder ... the version on the LIVE album kills me every time with its Subterranean Homesick Alien (Radiohead) build-up in the finale.

I've seen them do Brown Eyes a few times, and it's pretty spectacular. One of the few times you really get to hear Chris and Stevie harmonizing together, just the two of them.

I remember Hold Me not really holding up so well on the Mirage tour.
But I'm sure they would give it a fresh/new arrangement and key if they do it this year.

Am so happy that they're playing Brown Eyes.:blob2:

I would like to see Chris do at least most of the following:

Hold Me
YMLF
Everywhere
Little Lies
Isn't It Midnight
Songbird
Don't Stop
Say You Love Me

I'm not keen on Over My Head but I'm sure it'd be great anyway.

I'd imagine it'll be mostly Rumours/Tango songs we get, in Europe especially Tango was huge so Brown Eyes/SYLM? may be the only song/s that makes the cut that wasn't from those two albums.

I'd like to see Hold Me though, did that not get played on the Mirage tour much? I've heard the rehearsal version but it's not on the Mirage tour video. Seems odd as it was a big hit in the US.

Even though it's not my favorite Christine song on the album, I would be simply thrilled to have it in the setlist. I hope they could do some wonderful, layered vocal arranging.

Honestly, except for Beautiful Child, I've never really heard them use the background vocalists in a way that made me say "Wow!" But Love in Store would be the perfect time to try. Them singing different lines than the leads.

Never take your love away .... I'm begging you baby, oh darling.

So there will most likely be at least seven more songs, don't they usually have twenty-two songs? I'm satisfied with what I see here, they have all the essentials. As far as the other seven go, I really hope Sara is one of them, I want to see Sara with Christine playing the piano. It would be nice to get a couple deep cuts from each writer as well. Gold Dust Woman too, that needs to be in there. I hope they minimize the back up singer usage, I only want to hear the three voices.

Figures my Rolling Stone subscription ran out last month.

I can understand The Chain being the opener but was kinda hoping for Think about me, Seven Wonders or Love in Store. Glad they will most likely do YMLF.

I would say YMLF was an absolute lock....I mean, heck, it's a single from Rumours...using Fleetwood Mac logic, it HAS to be played!! Plus, I believe Lindsey has noted it being one of his favorite Chris tunes.

I'm a little bummed about Everywhere again. There are other songs on Tango (ahem, Little Lies...Isn't it Midnight), Mirage, and Tusk, of Christine's that I would like to hear instead of a rehashed version of Everywhere that we had on the last tour she did.

Yeah I agree, not a huge fan of Everywhere. I'd love to hear Chris sing Think About Me, Love in Store, Hold Me, Isn't it Midnight, or even a BTM song which is most unlikely.

Yeah, I knew YMLF would be there, just glad for a little confirmation.

I'm sure it will be on YouTube. I would also rather see Little Lies, but c'mon Everywhere is still going to be awesome. I would love Hold me, but I'm not holding my breath for it. Also, I know I'm not wrong isn't a "must play" song, so maybe that is the real set list.

IKINW is very good live, but your point is well taken. Perhaps that is the set list then, only other possibility is it is just a running rehearsal order, either way it is a pretty upbeat set. Really curious of the encores or songs missing from that list. I assume there will be an acoustic set with Landslide, Big Love etc.?

I really can't imagine why on earth 'Gold Dust Woman' wouldn't be included in the set. Not only is it a Rumours hit (something which gives it a boost in the likelihood of being performed) but it's really a showstopper and packs a way stronger punch than 'Rhiannon' has in the last ten years. Considering how well it translated with the audience last tour (more so than Stevie's other numbers) it doesn't make sense that they'd exclude it this time around

A couple things here rub me the wrong way if those are in proper order, namely...

- You Make Loving Fun near the beginning of the set? That's more of an ending/near ending type of crowd pleaser.
- Don't Stop being before Go Your Own Way. Certain songs should and can be moved around, but c'mon, Don't Stop is like one of the ultimate F Yeah Encore! tracks, especially now that Christine is back.
- I Know I'm Not Wrong - again. Uh Lindsey, I know you love Tusk and all but dude, you pulled out Not That Funny, there's still What Makes You Think and Save Me A Place you could pull out of your Tusk hat.
- Songbird belongs at the end of the set. No ifs, ands or butts.

However, there are a few things that please me like Sisters being back, seems like it got an amazing reception and I think Stevie really enjoyed doing the track again after all these years. She seems unsure the first few dates but the longer the tour went on, her confidence definitely grew with it. The Chain being at the beginning is also a must now that the full Mac chain is re-linked, perfect way to open the show.

Anyways, I'm interested in seeing the final, correct list since I won't be able to attend this year sadly. School comes first, money is tight and since they aren't coming anywhere near NC, I can't afford to fly or drive.

Leave it to Lindsey to keep doing the same songs from Tusk. Doesn't he have 10 songs on that album? It's always IKINW and Not That Funny. Stevie's shown more variety for pete's sake.

I'm going to be very annoyed if they didn't give Little Lies a go. What a bummer! That song was a huge hit, huge. And Isn't It Midnight is a great rocker. I'm kind of disappointed World Turning and Silver Springs haven't been cut. This is just going to be a The Dance/Rumours rehash like everything else. This band's legacy would be so much greater if they featured more of their oeuvre in their concerts to remind audiences and critics of their greatness.

Listen to the fans: We don't want The Chain first. We want songs that haven't been done before live with this group together, or not for a very long time. Sisters of the Moon is fine, hoping it's more to form with Christine back. Sara would be wonderful with Chris; would be the first time since 1980. What about the Mirage hits? And Tango? And Why? Why, we had an entire topic on that song. I really think checking out our setlist ideas could help them.

I've taken a few hours to think this through and I've come to this conclusion... By the looks of the pic and taking into consideration previous setlists, what the board could hold number wise and the songs listed in that order, think we may end up with something like this;

1. The Chain
2. You Make Loving Fun
3. Dreams
4. Second Hand News
5. Rhiannon
6. Everywhere
7. I Know I'm Not Wrong
8. Tusk
9. Sisters Of The Moon
10. Say You Love Me
11. Big Love
12. Landslide
13. Never Going Back Again
14. Brown Eyes
15. ???
16. ???
17. Gold Dust Woman
18. I'm So Afraid
19. Don't Stop
20. Go Your Own Way
21. World Turning
22. Silver Springs
23. Songbird

At first I thought the SO could be Songbird like previously mentioned but then I remembered that on previous setlists, the I'm in I'm So Afraid is usually dropped to just "So Afraid." I'm completely clueless as to what could possibly come in between the acoustic portion and Gold Dust though. It's gonna be weird having Don't Stop in the place of Stand Back and even weirder it not being at the end of the set.... Oh well, time will tell I guess. If we just end up getting Gypsy and say Over My Head as the completely uninspired choices for 15 and 16 I'll be so let down....

We need Little Lies as the opener! Just imagine. The arena is dark. That opening keyboard part sets the atmosphere... then the drums kick in.. light UP - she's baaaaaack!

What about Come A Little Bit Closer? I love that one!

I'm worried that this will be Christine's only deep cut/non-standard song in the setlist.

I'm worried that this is the only "deep cut" in the whole set. The 2 "deep cuts" from unleased and the 2013 tour were both confirmed only and they were both the only "deep cuts" played in either setlist - "Storms" and "Sisters of the Moon". Infact, wasn't even the return of "Monday Morning" to the unleashed set confirmed pretty early on?

Don't know if anyone else has mentioned it on here but there's a pic of Christine and Lindsey in the Rolling Stone and it has the setlist of the tour in the right hand side. I can see
The chain
Make Lovin Fun
Dreams
Secondhand news
Rhiannon
Everywhere
I know I'm not wrong
Tusk
Sisters of the moon
Say you love me
(Maybe song bird-it's cut out of the shot)
Don't stop
Go your own way
World turning
Silver springs

The rest are cut off an Christine's holding one of the songs in her hand. Anyways, it made my day :) peace.

After thinking about it for a little bit, I came up with a couple suggestions. Take out Secondhand News and replace with Monday Morning and I would love to see Blue Letter instead of Tusk. Tusk has never been that great of a song to me and is Christine really going to play the accordion?

I wish they would quit doing the acoustic version of say you love me. Why not open with the full band version! geesh!

Landslide / Big Love have had a good run, but it's time to take it off the set for a while. Even a classic such as Landslide can be run into the ground a little too much. I would much rather see that slot filled with at least one more Christine song and another overall deeper cut.

Also, some dreaming big wish list items:

- Bring back the awesome solo during Rhiannon done on the Mirage tour!!

- If your going to do SOTM again, do it right with the full guitar solo as well and more of the musical interlude that they had going on during the mirage tour. It needs that sense of suspense and build up to make it work. Last year it came across like a rehearsal run-through.

-Sara - bring back those beautiful guitar arpeggios that frame the song so beautifully.

- HOLD ME - come on, it's 2014 there is no reason why that song can't be done live complete with all the cool sound effects which could be programmed on Brett's keyboard.

I'm actually excited to hear Silver Springs with Christine. I have always thought of all songs they have done without Christine, that one has suffered the most. Her voice was sorely missed on the chorus, her voice added a sense of warmth that has been lacking in that song for the past 15 years.

Something I think is important to remember is in the Destiny Rules documentary, a similar board is shown. Some of the songs on that board did not end up making the final setlist for the Say You Will tour. So I wouldn't bet he house on what we're seeing in this picture. :)

Don't see landslide.

Yes, it is a very well known song that still gets plenty of spins on AC and Classic Rock format radio stations. Back in the day when CHR radio wasn't about "radio deals" and "pay for play" often times Dj's would play the "B" sides of singles because either they really liked the song or the demand was there from request or record sales, or the program director fancied the song.

Today the state of Top 40 radio is so corrupt and only "pushed" singles get any airplay. The only way you would hear a "B" side track or deep cut today on CHR is if they were broadcasting a live concert event.

As for your statement, the casual listener would probably consider most of the Rumours Album to contain hit songs. Even though there was just shy of a handful of singles, many of the songs found their way to radio. In fact, at one point or another I think I've heard every single song from the album either studio cut or live track played on radio. That is pretty impressive.

What I wonder is how easy it will be to juggle old with new in the set when the album comes out in 2015. If anything they'll probably find themselves having to devote the whole second half to playing Rumours beginning to end.

I love the 75 and 77 stuff as much as anyone but so much great stuff from Tango needs including. Tango itself would sound so awesome live and When I See You Again would work well as an acoustic duet. And stuff Everywhere - give me Little Lies anyday.

Based on what we can see all I can say is what a disappointment but yet I am not surprised. Second Hand News, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Tusk, Sisters of The Moon etc are lazy choices. I really think based on what we see that Stevie is likely not going to be doing anything rare this time out likely due to her recording that album and not having allot of rehearsal time (In her opinion). If they really do not want to become a lounge act they are going about it the wrong way. Even though Christine is back they just toured with almost the same set list last year so I think they are making a mistake by not really revamping the show.

It's very likely Sara is in the set, as well as Gypsy.

Also, Brown Eyes and Oh Daddy from Christine.

Exactly. Remember when SYW came out and Lindsey was bashing the Eagles for resting on their laurels when they had their new CD to promote and yet here we are in 2014 and that is exactly what FM is doing. Sure Chris is back but if the only deep cuts are from her and the best Lindsey can muster is to swap NTF for IKINW then that shows that they are clearly not interested in doing anything for the true fans.

louielouie2000
09-12-2014, 03:40 PM
Regarding the complaints about modern Sara, I couldn't disagree more. I feel in the 21st century, they have finally gotten the pacing right so that the song doesn't just drag on.

In that vein, I hope they fix Brown Eyes in the same manner. Early live takes of the song were just plain dull, but the bluesy guitar that was added for the Tango tour totally fixed that. Obviously Lindsey won't be adding any slide guitar parts, so how will he ratchet this song up a notch?

Before I get people upset, it's worth mentioning both Sara & Brown Eyes are at the top of my list of all time favorite songs. Not just Stevie, Chris, or even Fleetwood Mac songs... but songs, period. But just because they're stunning on an album, doesn't mean they transfer to the stage well, especially in their early days.

Count me as shocked Sisters is being considered for this tour. It felt rushed & often shaky on the last tour... I'm hoping they'll rework the song with Christine returning. This song deserves a second touring chance... it really should be Stevie's signature live piece.

Regarding Lindsey's Mirage era guitar solos, I *LOVE* those. Yes, they are sloppy, but they're so ROCK. They're flawed, they're crazy, wild, and passionate. You can totally hear the disintegration of the band in them. Yes, the '75 & '77 versions of Rhiannon were far tighter and more technically impressive, there's something about the tone of Lindsey's guitar playing during the Mirage era that was just so epic.

Regarding Seven Wonders, yes, I'd have to believe she'd be reticent to tackle that one live, which is a shame. I think it could be reworked & very much pulled off.

Add me to the chorus of those wanting Hold Me! :]

My bet is they perform Sisters of the Moon exactly the same as the last tour.

Could Lindsey be the one really holding the group back for their concerts? He plays the same songs, alternating for every other tour. Very interesting that he outwardly criticized the Eagles, who let it be known play 27 songs for their concerts.

With Stevie MIA and time limited, they probably didn't even attempt to get Little Lies, Isn't It Midnight, Hold Me, Love In Store, Why, Sisters of the Moon (done right), alternate guitar solos...just take the easy road to the $$$$. Mick has mouths to feed.

If it weren't positioned after Tusk and IKINW, I'd think the same thing, but its placement suggests it's meant to rock a little faster.

I attended a Mirage show. Hold Me held up well! Of course it wasn't going the have the polished sheen of the studio version. It was a bit more raw, but still was a great performance. I remember instead of singing Hold Meeeee, they sang Hold Me yeah.

I wouldn't compare that rendering to the potential it holds now; the mini mac (Sharon, Lori, and various support musicians) would flesh it out, giving it boost.

They could replace sisters of the moon with Angel. Unless Sisters of the moon has significance for Christine because she was one of Stevie's "sisters" with the half moon necklace.

Stevie's must play Tusk song should be Sara.

It would also be cool to get a Mirage song from Christine and Lindsey. It seems they only do Gypsy.

Is there a reason Stevie went so long not performing her songs on Tusk? Was it because the band thought negatively of the album? Her songs are so excellent, and Beautiful Child was definitely one of the highlights on the 2004 tour. I'd love to hear that one as well as Sara with Christine.

I think there was a misconception above, unless I was reading wrong. Brown Eyes is one of Christine's Tusk songs.

I know this is a greatest hits tour, but weren't Think About Me, Hold Me, Love in Store, and Little Lies hits?

There are probably 10 more songs we don't know from the picture. I'm betting Oh Daddy, Brown Eyes, Gold Dust Woman, Big Love, Landslide, Sara, and Gypsy are in there. Maybe Bleed to Love Her, one new song, Over My Head, or, if we're lucky some surprises... Crystal, Isn't It Midnight, Little Lies, Hold Me, Love in Store, Blue Letter, I Don't Want to Know, Seven Wonders (unless Stevie just doesn't want to do it/too much vocal wear), Beautiful Child, a pre-1975 song...

Little Lies!!! This is exciting. Surprised Sara was cut too! Maybe John didn't want to play it...his bored faces in some of the videos were funny. I'm surprised they didn't try Oh Daddy. Wasn't that one hinted at in twitter posts? I'd love to hear what they came up with for Hold Me. This is a good start, which gives them some room for when they tour again. Disappointments:

- They couldn't fit in 2-3 more songs. 23 only? They could do 26.
- They didn't change the setlist ordering, where certain songs go
- Lindsey and Stevie didn't change anything from the last tour....Never Going Back could easily be cut. Same guitar solos too. IKINW is in, but he's done that consistently.
- It kind of looks like The Dance 2.0

Any chance Gypsy is acoustic?

They should have kept Sara, Monday Morning, and Hold Me.

Blue Letter would also be great.

Meh….Not too excited….I'd cut "Dreams" for "Sara" and "Sisters" for "Seven Wonders." I'd also like to see "Hold Me" in the set.

The pacing seems a bit odd. You start with the power of "The Chain" and then slow it down with "You Make Loving Fun" and "Dreams." Then you have that long acoustic set in the middle with "Say You Love Me," "Big Love," "Landslide" and "Never Going Back Again."

Hmmm….At least they're playing "Everywhere" and "Little Lies."

According to them, songs that were practiced but cut were:

SARA

OVER MY HEAD

HOLD ME

MONDAY MORNING

ON WITH THE SHOW

That's seriously it? *sigh* This really is gonna be The Dance 2.0

Well, I guess it's a good thing they aren't coming to NC this year then.

Will wait for that album/tour to eventually come around I guess.

They could've at least given us the new track, the tour IS named after it.

If Big Love thru Gypsy are all done acoustically, or with the band all front center of stage, I'd be slightly disappointed. Hopefully brown eyes and gypsy are done full band, or better yet Big Love (unlikely).

Was hoping for Seven Wonders and Think About Me.

Not much representation from Mirage.

I hate to be a skeptic, but... remember how we were JUST trolled with multiple track lists for 24KG? Obviously the songs in the Rolling Stone image are a good bet/locked, but as far as this full list from a tumblr leaking information... I'll believe things after the first show.

The problem is the lack of creativity which just spurs on the fact this seems incredibly real.

- We know for a fact Brown Eyes has been mentioned.
- We have the tracks listed in that order in Rolling Stone.
- We know it's essentially going to be a Greatest Hits tour again.
- The only surprises on that list are two Christine numbers, one of which we already knew of.

It all fits the bill, really, and that's whats scary. Would it kill this band to get a little more creative with their sets?

I honestly don't know what's more shocking; the fact Don't Stop isn't in the encore section or the fact they used it to replace Stand Back.

Hopefully Gypsy's acoustic, like the 2000 benefit version in a slightly lower key. IMO it's lost a certain magic since Stevie has pretty much dropped most of the high parts from it, even more last year!

I'm just generally excited to see Christine's songs back, considering it seemed impossible for a while.

Right now there are only 7 songs different from the 2013 tour. That's unacceptable. It shows how much Stevie and Lindsey are stuck in their ways, and frankly how little time and effort they spend preparing for these tours. With so much of the same, they'll be sleepwalking through the songs.

agree.

some stats if this list will be it, which seems plausible:

there are 7 songs by each of the 3 songwriters.

there is one co-write between LB and CM (WT).

there is one co-write from the whole band (The Chain).

Stevie will change zero songs since the last tour, just dropping 3 (Sara and Stand Back - i'm extremely happy about this, especially Sara and very pleasantly surprised if the Stand back dropping is true; she is also predictably dropping oldie Without You).

Lindsey is swapping just one song - IKINW for NTF, completely predictable. and also dropping 3 songs - Sad Angel (highlight last year!), Eyes (always a highlight), and Say Goodbye.

added 6 Christine songs - so this is really the only change and the highlight of this tour - YMLF, SYLM, Everywhere, Little Lies, Songbird and Brown Eyes. mostly pretty good greatest hits selection and I really wish there is no Brown Eyes (sha-la-la? yeah whatever), and if true there will be no Hold Me, it will be sorely missed. (i also wished for Think About Me, but considering the hit-level Chrsitine's other FM songs had, this one was a pretty minor one, so i guess i can understand its non-inclusion.)

lol, welcome to the world of TL where everybody seems to think they know better even if they have no clue - there will always be many people scoffing at anything that makes sense. ;)

although if this really was the dance 2, at least we would get a few new songs! no such luck.

it is also interesting to see people complaining about the same setlist but then turning around and scoffing on what can be considered a surprise and one of the few changes - SOTM which was only played on 2 tours so far; instead they wish back a mainstay.

Hold Me, which was a big hit and still a mainstay of many classic rock stations, but was played live on just one tour, would be a really nice surprise; yet people wish back some other CM live mainstays.

It would be interesting to see what they could do with Hold Me. Example: how much better is Everywhere on The Dance than the 1987-1990 live versions? A lot better, the 1987-1990 kinda sucks actually.

Assuming this is the real set list, I would love to see Blue Letter in there, maybe instead of Big Love. I would rather have Sara than Silver Springs. They could take out Tusk and do something different there too. I would even rather have Eyes of the World over Tusk. I'm excited about Never Going Back. I would rather have Monday Morning over Secondhand News, they always do Secondhand News. I guess there's more complaints about Lindsey's selection than Stevie or Christine. Christine's selection is good, all the must plays, again, I would love to see Hold Me, but not counting on it.

I sometimes think they are too used to performing well-worn songs because they can sleepwalk; it's easier. Why should I try to breaking in these new stiff shoes, when my old shoes are just comfortable and familiar? My identity is defined by this style. They expect me to look this way. I might upset and confuse them if I wear something different.

Aren't they just pleasing a particular fan mindset that might want them to stay stuck in their ways?

"They have to play this song or I won't be happy."
"This song has to follow this other song."
"This song has to open the show."
"They should't perform this song; doesn't translate."

Not sure if we can take this setlist as the official one as we have no confirmation. Having said that...

Fleetwood Mac is truly a band where history is the best predictor of future behaviour.

If you look at all of their tours, even those going back to the late 70s/early 80s, the band has always used the same formula in their concerts. If there is a new album to promote, the new material is never put up front and centre and these songs usually do not even make an appearance until after 3-5 classic songs have been played. If there is no new album, it is simply hit after hit after hit - with some new songs (usually without studio recordings) thrown in. [To be fair, the EP with 4 new tracks was out of the norm for the band and was a step in the right direction].

Stevie and Lindsay have had two tours without Christine. These tours would have been a perfect time to mix the set up completely; neither of them had nearly as many 'hits' as Christine and therefore they really could have gone into their back catalogue and created a very different set. Sadly, they stuck to the tried and tested 'Rumours is supreme mode, and we all know the rest. Rare tracks like Storms, Beautiful Child, Sisters Of The Moon, Not That Funny, Oh Well were added (not all during the same tour and sets, of course) for the true Fleetwood Mac fans, however we are certainly in the minority. This is exactly how classic rock bands do, and arguably should, tour. The majority of people there are those that want the hits, want the songs that are constantly on classic rock radio. If all of the aforementioned rare songs, or other album tracks, were played during the same set the majority of the crowd would leave feeling disappointed.

Fleetwood Mac charge a lot to see them. They know what the vast majority of people want and expect. They have known this tour after tour, and therefore what else should we expect? I think we should enjoy the fact that Brown Eyes is back in, as well as 'rare' tracks like Sisters Of The Moon and I Know I'm Not Wrong. It shows that the band wants to at least signify the 'true' fans in the audience (though I would agree that they could stretch to songs that were not played over the last two tours).

As for Stevie's songs, she has not been in rehearsal much so I do not think we should be surprised. For Lindsay, we can even look to his solo set lists to see that he always sticks with the hits. To be fair to Mr. Buckingham, when he tours behind a new album he does promote the heck out of it in his shows and is pretty good at splitting the concerts 50/50 between FM and solo. However, he is not known to go deep into his solo material either (i.e. very little from Out Of The Cradle, Gift Of Screws, or any of his 80s work is played). And as for Christine, she is back and therefore everyone will be wanting to hear the hits we have missed for so long.

Maybe the next tour, with a new album in the works, will be different. For now, I think it is best just to expect what we all know will be played. FM is lucky in that they have a brand new audience that wants to hear all these classic songs. I have seen them twice and have only been a fan since around 2006. For me, hearing these songs live is still a moving experience. I was at one of the London shows with Christine last year, and was not bored during any of the set. I am hoping to go to the Toronto show this tour, though do not have a ticket yet (if anyone has 1 or 2 decently priced tickets for the Toronto show, would be great to get a message!)

So rather than be cross or disappointed at a set list, embrace what you will be experiencing. If you have chosen to purchase a ticket to see them enjoy the fact that you are listening to a 2 hour+ show filled with incredible music that will still be played and respected long after the band's touring days are over.

The last few tours have been great for surprises; I Know I'm Not Wrong, Beautiful Child, Storms, Sisters, Oh Well, Sara, Monday Morning...

However, keep changing it up! Just because you brought back these wonderful songs does NOT mean they should stay in the set!

Swap I Know for What Makes You Think.
Swap Big Love for Never Going Back and then in the other spot give us Save Me A Place.
Swap I'm So Afraid for Tango.
Swap Sisters for Angel.

Just changing the placement of the songs (Like moving Don't Stop out of the encore section) shouldn't count as a surprise...

I know I keep saying this but the most important song for me is Sara. I want to see it with Christine's piano so badly. It's like when I saw Crosby Stills & Nash a month ago and they didn't play Suite Judy Blue Eyes, I was so bummed. I think what we can see in the Rolling Stone photo is a safe bet, but I can see them switching the order around. When the "Say You Will Corkboard Setlist" was posted, they had "Eyes of the World" as the opener, which we know changed after opening night.

Now, the person who posted the second half of the set "Little Lies," "Gypsy," "Gold Dust" could be trolling. I think someone got overexcited when they saw the picture from RS.

A couple thoughts...for one, I too am not convinced this is legitimate. I remember for the 2009 tour, there were these handwritten setlists that were being posted on the net and then put on the ledge which turned out to be fakes. These were the ones that had "Sisters" written and crossed out a variety of times and there was a couple of new ones each week that allegedly showed the setlist evolving as rehearsals continued. On the other hand, I could absolutely see this setlist being legitimate because it follows so many Fleetwood Mac patterns!

I could see You Make Loving Fun as the second slot. It's upbeat, very well known, and gets Christine right in everyones face at the top of the show. I actually much prefer the Chain/YMLF 1-2 punch than Chain/Dreams!
The setlist is so predictible that it actually begs to have been written by this band. Right down to essentially following much of the structure of last years tour. This is vintage FM, despite the band personnel changing from tour to tour.
I could absolutely live without Everywhere, I Know I'm Not Wrong, even Rhiannon. Substitue in Hold Me or Isn't it Midnight, What Makes You Think You're the One, and Angel or Seven Wonders or I Don't Want to Know and I'd be better about it!
Absolutely surprised if Stevie does Sisters of the Moon again. Sadly, it will be the same arrangement as last year despite Christine's presence. They are playing it very similar to the studio version and seemingly don't recall, or don't care to recall, how they played it live from '78-'82.
Please please please let Little Lies be true!!!! I was 6 and loved everything about this song when it came out. It was, by far, my first recallable Fleetwood Mac experience and to be able to hear it live by the full band would make every dollar I spent on my ticket worth it!
No Stand Back!? I'll believe that when I see it, but, maybe they decided no solo songs. I always wondered back in '97 what prompted her to put Stand Back in the set. During The Dance filming they didn't play it, and that long 4 part interview that was posted of the 5 of them, she was specifically asked if she would be playing any solo songs during the tour, to which she replied, "no." I would be shocked if this song was out..
Don't Stop/GYOW absolutely doesn't follow pattern, but it's doable and would work.

If the leak is true, I can live with it. Yeah, I yearned for Why and Green Manalishi, but didn't really in my heart of hearts expect them. It's the Mac, and Christine's back. That's enough for me....Yeah, the band at the moment is really a touring West End/Broadway production but they've got to keep the casual concert-goers happy. Little Lies? yeah maybe "written by a robot" but it was my gateway to the band and all its historic musical wealth in 1987, so I'll take it. Brown Eyes? I'm ecstatic. No Stand Back? This had better be true...

Maybe things will change and the new album will be out by the time they hit London, where I am. This really is their last chance to nail a killer album. Have faith!

I don't think last year's Sisters was like the studio version. It never quite rocks out which the studio version does do. I think the Tusk tour version is most like the studio version.

And Stevie will do the barking noises.

I'd like to hear Stevie comment about Holiday Road. I'd be interested in her opinion.

This reminds me when Cory said that they would always try to get Lindsey to do Trouble during the FM warm up sessions, but he never would. I think he gave in a couple of times just to placate her.

However, I will say, that I am incredibly surprised that Sisters of the Moon is making another return. But I don't think it is coming back because Stevie wants it back. I think it's coming back because Stevie probably didn't have a lot of rehearsal time with everything going on for 24k Gold. So she probably thought "well, I'll just do SOTM again for my deep cut." What I HOPE happens is she draws it out longer, makes it the rocker that it needs to be. Maybe Christine inspired them to alter the arrangement. The 2013 rendition was simply awful. I mean, it was really bad.

I Know I'm Not Wrong is SUPER lazy. He has played it to death. There are so many more fun choices from him. I was concerned when "Not that Funny" and "Eyes of the World" came back last year. I was bummed, actually. Super lazy. Blue Letter? Hello!

The highlight of this set will be Christine. The highlight of the whole show will be Christine. But they will all benefit from the 3rd singer. I think Stevie's voice will improve, she may even take more risks.

What I HOPE and THINK will happen is an extended version of this list. We can't see the whole thing and the other "official" posting seems bogus to me. I think all three of them will have 8 songs + Chain and WT. For Chris I think it will be Oh Daddy, Stevie: Stand Back, and who knows with Lindsey. Maybe something new?

However, I am excited about "You Make Loving Fun," absolutely one of my all time favorite Mac songs and simply a blast live. I remember seeing a video from the dance tour at the very end of the song the stage lights would shine in on Christine for those final notes and it seemed so exciting! I think it's awesome that "The Chain" is back in the opening slot. I would KILL to be in Minneapolis for opening night. I bet the crowd is going to go nuts when Christine comes out!

Now before I post this, let me say that I adore this band to this day. I check this website, facebook, twitter, instagram every day even to get the slightest new tidbit on the band and what they are up to. I IDOLIZE them and I will until their final days.

BUTTTTT

Fleetwood Mac no longer sounds like Fleetwood Mac. This has nothing to do with their ability to play and sing. This isn't an issue. It's their complete and utter relucatance to change anything in the slightest. Even Lindsey Buckingham, my idol, the one who I thought put Stevie to shame with his onstage diversity has become stale. That "So Afraid" solo hasn't changed in 10 years.

The Chain, Gypsy, So Afraid, GYOW, Don't Stop, Rhiannon, Landslide...everything is the same at each and every show, every note, every guitar lick. When they did "Say You Love Me" in 2009, I was ELATED because it sounded like FLEETWOOD MAC. I just wish, if they are going to play the SAME SONGS every time, they could change the arrangement. Hell, a new shawl from Stevie, or an extended guitar solo from Lindsey...ANYTHING.

I love them, I always will, I'll pay to go to every show that I can reasonably drive to, but it just kills me to see them do the same act, when they have so much potential. Gift of Screws, In Your Dreams, Lindsey's One Man Show (Stephanie/Rock Away Blind) were breaths of fresh air for FM fans. New songs on album and onstage. The thought of seeing another year of "Gypsy," "The Chain," and "So Afraid" with the same arrangement makes me a little sad. But I'm there for Christine, ill be there jumping up and down and screaming along to every word. :D

I know most of you are probably sick of Landslide, but I'm a younger fan (23) and potentially going to the show in Chicago and would LOVE to see my favorite song performed live. So I'm hoping it makes the cut. I saw Stevie with Don Henley in 2005 and she did a lot of her FM songs, but Landslide wasn't one of 'em (was still an awesome show though.)

Oh, I'm sure there will be one surprise song no matter what. Maybe 2.

I wouldn't expect it to be announced beforehand.

Michele

The only surprise I see is that there is no surprise at all. Christine rejoining the band was the only surprise. If the band took a poll to get a feel for what songs loyal fans would like them to perform, it would be a very different set. At the very least it would have given them some insight and ideas to update and restructure the show. For them, they probably think that following The Chain with You Make Loving Fun instead of Dreams is a radical departure. They're like old people who are not bothered to be wearing the same clothes day after day, year after year.

What do Mick and Lindsey say when they are asked about the setlist and song choices?

I'd love to hear the excuses. I Know I'm Not Wrong is by no means a staple...it should be replaced for a different deep cut. What's worse though is how the songs never change. The guitar solos, the arrangements. I said this before, and it pains me, but they'll be mostly sleepwalking through the songs, apart from Christine's which the band hasn't performed.

That set list looks too suspicious to me. I can't see them doing Don't Stop before Go Your Own Way, also I can't see them NOT doing Stand Back.

I think you're onto something here. I smell a rat. I can't see "You Make Loving Fun" being the second song in the set, right after "The Chain". That doesn't follow their predictable pattern. AND, as much as I DON'T think "Stand Back" belongs in a Fleetwood Mac set, I can't see them dropping it. I agree that "Don't Stop" comes too early. Time will tell.

"Stand Back" is one of Stevie's standards in the same class as "Dreams", "Gold Dust Woman", "Gypsy", "Landslide", "Rhiannon", and "Silver Springs." It is very difficult not to perform it.

Been a long day. Little changes, tweaks, here and there musically.

Someone is still a little sour over a certain song being cut from the list but it’s all right, all right. They’re just standing in a line.

Does this set list surprise me in any way? No. Well, a little. I did think that they'd include 1 or 2 NEW songs that they've been recording. And, maybe even figure an arrangement of one of Stevie's 24 Karat Gold songs that she'd written for FMac. Oh, wait, what am I thinking? This is Fleetwood Mac...never mind.

And, under NO circumstances should "Oh Well" EVER, EVER, EVER be a "surprise" in a Fleetwood Mac set list. It should be standard operating procedure. Without that song, and the person who wrote it, they wouldn't be standing on stage in 2014 as Fleetwood Mac. AND, that they've not paid homage to Bob Welch via playing ONE, just ONE, effing song of his in concert since his passing is the rudest, sickest, most despicable behavior ever.

But, again, what am I thinking? This is Fleetwood Mac...never mind.

So, Fleetwood Mac is coming around again in concert, Christine's back....NEVER F-ING MIND!

It's not very difficult at all, it's pretty simple to drop a song from a set list, especially when Stevie's dropped both Sara and Rhiannon in the past. Stand Back has become a Stevie standard, but that doesn't stop it sounding like a wall of noise that I can't help but cringe at every time I hear it live. I'm pleased that Brown Eyes and I Know I'm Not Wrong are in but I'm gutted that Sara has been dropped and Isn't It Midnight is out.

You're being ridiculous. Christine is probably a little rusty and so is the rest of the band as far as performing her songs. They're playing what everyone wants to see them play, the only people who will be displeased are the few of us here on The Ledge. But like I keep trying to remind everyone, be grateful we have the opportunity to see all five perform together, a lot of us never thought we would get that opportunity.

It's always irked me that Stand Back has been included in so many of the FM setlists since the 1980s, especially when there are other Stevie FM songs that could have been performed instead that either never have been or were absent from their setlists for decades.

The biggest bummer with Lindsey is that he does the same damn guitar solos for every concert, both touring on his own and with Fleetwood Mac. I've loved them the few times I have seen him. I know he tears the roof off the place with So Afraid, but he's really hurting his guitar cred by sticking to the same songs time and time again. Maybe he legitimately would have to relearn some of those old songs we always mention (Tango in the Night or an acoustic version for something other than Big Love)? That's a lot to ask when time is short and he already has to relearn/ease back into Christine's song. I listened to the RedBeard interview and it seemed like guitar playing was never natural to him and he learned by experimenting; he doesn't read music...still, it's kind of sad that with the pay he's making he can't give us different guitar showcases.

I'm rather sad Seven Wonders won't be in the set but I guess they can only do so many songs, and the casuals buying tickets want the same old same old I guess.

Considering the bands near 50 year history it would be nice to have a brief video montage of all FM members past and present during the show, perhaps during the acoustic set or before an encore.

Sure would be nice to hear a hint of new music as well.

Probably in a much lower key, or with a ton of lower harmony notes, which would just ruin the song, IMO Stevie uses that tactic a bit too often, almost no song is safe these days. I get the impression ever since she started with the vocal coach, she's played things extremely safely vocally.

I still laugh about the idea of Dave Mason being called 'creative' in Fleetwood Mac. No. This line up still sells out arena's. That's the problem. They think they have to do the same songs over and over, to serve the audience. And they may even be right. If you want to see this band in 2014-2015, don't expect ANY risks. They ARE a nostalgia act. A damn good one, though. They still deliver a certain level of quality. Tusk is the best album ever, I don't have the illusion that this old band will reinvent itself ever again. I'm ready to dive in memorylane again and see them in concert. If there is an Amsterdam-gig. I'll buy their new album, if it ever surfaces. But it will not be a good fresh album. It will be a pityful attempt to catch something that roots in the past, and therefore it will never have the tension they were searching for back then.

No. Yes, you're lucky to see the Fireflies, but some/most? have seen them numerous times, the idea for CREATIVE people is to keep moving forward and let your audience catch up, not SERVE the audience. That's not creative, that's nostalgic bullsh*t. Sure, there's time & place for honoring an entity's legacy, but that's not what Fleetwood Mac has done for the last, oh, 17 years. Once Lindsey & Stevie returned in '97, it's been nothing but nostalgic bullsh*t. At least, with new personnel there was creativity. They've done nothing but jump on the Rumours hype bandwagon and stay there for eternity. It is crap, it was crap, it'll always BE crap. Stinking smelly CRAP!

With all the old bands I have seen, I'm always really annoyed when they throw new stuff in their set, I don't want to see the new stuff, I want their classics. I saw Crosby Stills & Nash a month ago and they had a couple new songs but did not play Suite Judy Blue Eyes. I would have been much happier seeing Suite Judy Blue Eyes and cut the new songs.

Also, these bands should be serving the audience with these ticket prices, I paid $1050 for two 8th row floor seats. Fleetwood Mac better play what I want to see.

To each his own I guess. I prefer the nostalgia acts.

Would I have an entirely different set list for them? Damned right.

(really, really sad, I kinda wanted to see Christine again...but, after how they've acted...eff it.)

The shame is EVERYBODY BUT FLEETWOOD MAC honors Fleetwood Mac's past.

Anyone else see a major FAIL in that concept???

I'm confused- you are angry they aren't playing old standards, but you're angry they aren't doing new material. You want them mired in the past, yet you don't want them mired in the past. Got it.

Let's look at their track record for a moment- they performed 1/3 of the Say You Will album during that tour. They performed 1/2 of the EP last year. For a "legacy act" that's actually not too shabby. Their new music output definitely IS shabby, though. As are these cash grab tours with mostly stagnant setlists.

I will also admit I am sad they didn't even say anything about Bob's passing onstage, much less do one of his songs. But I have a feeling the litigation Bob & his widow had with the band played a part in that decision. Who knows what the terms of that settlement were? Could the band have been forbidden to perform any songs written by him? Or perhaps Wendy Welch threatened legal action if the band even said anything about Bob onstage- she certainly could have threatened libel, or demanded a cut of tour profits if they performed a Welch tune. I could see why the band may want to just wash their hands of such risks.

There's not a soul (apart from us) in those audiences that will recognize or love ANY Welchsong in the set.

New music must be good music, not just being new. Sad Angel did reasonably well last tour. But those aweful 15 wasted minutes Without You including long long story were rude.

I'd be happy with I Don't Want To Know and Think About Me. Recognizable, but still refreshing.

I'm not sure I agree with that- Hypnotized is still played on US radio fairly often. Sentimental Lady was in a TV commercial a while back, and has been picked back up by radio & other sources since then. It's probably safe to say we'll never have the chance to hear any Welch tunes live again now that Chris is back in the fold, though.

I'd be happy with I Don't Want To Know and Think About Me. Recognizable, but still refreshing.

I've often wondered why neither of those songs have been performed live. They just seem like they're made for the stage. I'm not sure how many people would recognize Think About Me these days, though. The Mac's audiences are skewing younger with each tour. Most ticket holders weren't around for (or were too young to remember) Think About Me's limited airplay 35 years ago.

No one would recognize any Welch songs? If they played "Sentimental Lady" with Lindsey on lead and Chris doing her backups from the Welch solo version, the crowd would go nuts. Welch's remake was a Top 10 hit in 1977 at the height of Fleetwood Mac's popularity, and it would be a great tribute.

I am excited for this tour no matter what they play, so much so that I am planning a 900-mile drive to Minneapolis to see the opener!

It's LONG overdue that they give Rumours a rest...pick one song each to play and leave it at that. (YMLF, GDW, GYOW) Enough already. They really only play songs from 3 albums...FM75, Rumours & Tusk. They have 20+ albums of material to play...get CREATIVE with the set list. THAT's what I'm pissed about.

From all I've heard (this is from Bob himself) is that Bob & band reconciled somewhere around 2003 or thereabouts. Maybe that didn't include Christine, though. And, really who cares if the audience hasn't HEARD a song before....that's the effing POINT of concerts, to introduce your audience to things...if they wanna hear the hits, just buy the albums & stay home.

It was performed live by Buckingham Nicks. Maybe it would have to be altered too much to fit Stevie's voice?

While I agree with everything being posted, I think we have to be very realistic with Fleetwood Mac at this stage in their career.

The band has the mixed blessing of being a band that, in their prime (75-87) was a very commercial band. It is hard to think of another rock band during that period that could rival Fleetwood Mac's success on the singles charts (obviously there were other popular and single-successful groups, but very few that could top FM). Thankfully, FM made intelligent pop music and therefore their hits actually have some 'meat' to them and are not throw-away pop. Nonetheless, FM has the burden of massively successful commercial singles that most audience members would expect to hear. I remember very much leaving the O2 last year (the last night with Christine on 'Don't Stop') and some of those people around where I was sitting with my group complaining that the band did not play songs like 'Everywhere', 'Say You Love Me', 'Little Lies', etc. When you are a band with that many singles that most people in attendance want (and expect) to hear, you have to give in to the majority.

Think of any other band that you only know the singles of. I bet that if you went to one of their shows you would primarily be interested in hearing the popular stuff, the songs you know. It is the same with Fleetwood Mac. While I am very grateful that the band has thrown in songs like 'Storms', 'Sisters Of The Moon', 'Not That Funny', and 'Say Goodbye' on the previous two tours, a set which featured a lot of rarer material would leave the majority of the audience dazed and confused.

As a more recent fan in my twenties, I do believe that we 'young' FM fans would be open to the band playing less-known material (both pre-Rumours and after); there are many younger FM fans that have a great appreciation for music. However, at the rate that FM is charging for tickets, FM would probably not want to risk mixing the set too much; people have payed a lot of money to hear the classic songs they all know.

That's been their fatal mistake of creativity...caving in to the middle ground and grinding off the edge of their material. There've been plenty of bands & artists who SHUN the "hits" and still have rabid concert following (Pink Floyd & Neil Young immediately come to mind). There's is absolutely NOTHING wrong WITH leaving the audience "dazed & confused". That's what ART is all about. Shaking the comfort level of the audience. You're not guaranteed to hear "Layla" when you see Clapton (and if you do, it might not be how you EXPECT to hear it)...you're not guaranteed to hear ANYTHING you know of Bob Dylan when you see him in concert. You can never predict what you'll hear from David Bowie, either on record or in concert. Bands like the Allman Brothers (or their younger spin-offs, the Tedeschi Trucks Band or Gov't Mule ) never play the same song the same way twice.

I wonder how much the addition of the backing musicians who were brought on starting with the Dance tour had to do with this stagnation? If you look back at the '75-early '90s era of Fleetwood Mac, songs like Gold Dust Woman in particular varied from tour to tour, even night to night. There was so much more emotion to live Mac performances before the glut of backing musicians. Now the shows seem more like a Broadway rendition of Fleetwood Mac.

The Rumours incarnation of the band has never really mixed up their setlists, though. I think solo artists like Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, etc can get away with nightly changes & such because they're just that- solo artists. They don't have to run changes by the committee that is a band. I know Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac kept things loose & flexible, but that's a byproduct of performing the blues. Like Richard Dashut said- blues comes from the heart; pop music is much more forcefully & deliberately created.

I know this has caused a lot of debate, but personally I'm not reading anything into this.
Any in-the-know fan could have put this together: take last years setlist, add some Chris songs, swap a couple of others.
On With The Show is the name of the tour and we know is a new track, they could have pretended they practised it.
Most of all, this setlist seems unmac like! Don't Stop before Gyow? No Standback or Sara? Not for me thx...
And people who say cut Dreams - which band would cut their only us no1 and one of their most recognizable songs?

Track #4 on Rumours Don't Stop #5 GYOW

Track #7 The Chain #8 YMLF

Following the tracklisting of Rumours I guess?

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Stand Back finds it's way back in by the second or third show, right after the acoustic set to get things rocking again. I'd prefer solo stuff left out considering the amount of songs we would much prefer to hear from the band.

Does seem odd that On with the Show wouldn't be played since it is the name of the tour. Nice to hear new music, Sad Angel was well received last year.

Good point, hadn't thought about that. BUT, we've seen & heard Lindsey be spontaneous with his own band, which is comprised of half the Fleetwood Mac extended band. It wouldn't be any stretch to spontaneously rip into "Seeds We Sow" or "End Of Time" or "Trouble" instead of "Big Love" or "Turn It On" instead of "Second Hand News" one night in Sheboygan or Tierra Del Fuego, or wherever. I'm sure that Brett & Neale could pull it off & they could rehearse it during soundcheck to get Mick, John & Christine up to speed. Stevie & The Girls would probably be off stage during a costume change at that point anyway. Bring the "small machine" attitude to the "big machine" venue. That's CREATIVITY!! That's being an ARTIST!!!

I think the 'all right, all right... standing in a line' reference might be a VERY subtle way of hinting towards Stand Back. ;)

It's very obvious; great to hear that she was overruled. I have no sympathy if Stevie is pouting about it. Stand Back overstayed its welcome in Fleetwood Mac. It rightfully belongs in her solo sets.

Perfectly stated!

Unfortunately, many don't understand the beauty of that. " I paid a lot of money, so I expect to hear these songs!"
When it comes to Fleetwood Mac, if you're a true fan, you wouldn't have such stringent expectations. And, as a causal fan, even if you don't hear all the songs you're familiar with, you should still be able to be entertained, and appreciate/enjoy the show because it's being performed by an exceptional band.

I've been to many shows where I might know little to nothing about the artist or the songs (accompanying friends who are fans), but I can still appreciate and enjoy the performance. If Fleetwood feels that 90% of their show has to be the familiar well-worn road material, at least they can be a little bit more adventurous with song sequence. Open with something other than The Chain. Push Dreams near the end of the set. The band gets so set in their ways. Yet it's so perplexing to see that some fans seem to want it that way. "They have to open with The Chain, followed by Dreams." I don't understand that. I rather be surprised and challenged, expecting the unsuspected.

Elvis Costello once did a tour where he had this big wheel with dozens of songs on it; he'd spin it and perform whatever song it landed on. Pretty cool, huh? Every show was unique.

Fleetwood Mac's setlist is different from the 2013 tour. According to the set from tumblr, 7 songs this tour were not played in 2013.

From 2012-2014, The Rolling Stones may not have performed the same set every night but they always play 16 warhorse songs every night and 3 change every night. If you're a hard core fan...you can guess the 3 other songs they're going to play because they're not surprises.

I like the set on tumblr. I just wish Hold Me and Over My Head were going to be performed.

I'm really glad someone finally said it about the Stones. I love them, but go to one of their fan sites (iorr.org is the one I frequent), and you will see the exact same bitching about the setlist selections/sequencing/song arrangements as you do here. And they went from doing 23 songs during their 5 "50th anniversary" shows in NYC and London to 19 during the "14 on Fire" tour this year.

Fleetwood Mac isn't alone in their unwillingness to break the mold. For every Bruce Springsteen or Bob Dylan, there is a Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, or Rolling Stones. I just enjoy it for what it is and don't have any expectations at this point that they are going to drop The Chain/Dreams/Rhiannon/Say You Love Me/Big Love/Landslide/You Make Loving Fun/GYOW/Don't Stop in lieu of Frozen Love/IDWTK/Seven Wonders/Over and Over/Book of Love/That's Alright/As Long As You Follow/Family Man/Warm Ways.

lmao at FM changing 7 songs since the last tour. aha. how many did they switch since the Dance? oh yeah, now they dropped the ones that were new at the time, that's about it. ;)

And, then there's the Grateful Dead & Phish....they don't even follow the set list they make for the NIGHT, much less two shows in a row. I think it was the Grateful Dead who played 10 shows in a row WITHOUT REPEATING A SONG! Ok, Fleetwood Mac, TRY THAT!!!!

Game, set & MATCH to chiliD!!

What do members of Fleetwood Mac say when you've asked about the set lists/their song selection? Even Lindsey's solo tours don't change, same big guitar solos, same Fleetwood Mac songs. Tusk is considered his baby, and he's played so few of his songs live. Why can't they have a fan choice every night like the Rolling Stones? Maybe Lindsey legitimately doesn't know the songs and it's been a lot of work just to go through Christine's songs again?

One problem I see is that the band doesn't really have contact with their fans. It seems like it takes a decade for messages to be relayed to them; it took that long for Stevie to do Sisters of the Moon again. I said this many pages back but Lindsey and Stevie only changing 1 song from the last tour is unacceptable

Metallica this year did a "by request" tour where fans voted on the set list every show. Turns out the fans want to hear the staples. There weren't any songs fans collectively were sick of and chose not to vote for. They had one remaining song from their classic 80s albums that had never been played and that didn't get picked until midway through the tour. I have a feeling if Fleetwood Mac gave the vote to the fans it would be mostly their biggest hits. Yeah you'd get a few interesting choices which would be nice but it wouldn't be filled with them and you wouldn't get rid of those staples.

I agree. Do they think this is a different audience than they had last year? It's probably a large portion of the same people going.

i'm not sure what are you talking about re LB solo tours. the main problem with his last year's tour was too short setlist and no requests. and while i complain non-stop that there's not enough change from tour to tour and barely any change from date to date, compared to FM, his sets between tours are extremely different ;). for one thing, at most of his solo tours he promotes whatever is the most recent album he has, so he plays at least 6 completely new songs. his sets are usually half FM and half solo. so while he may play the same FM songs he considers staples his solo songs change (and i consider his SYW songs like Come or BTLH basically solo).

i do agree with you re his not playing nearly enough Tusk songs. other than Tusk, he only played IKINW and SMAP at solo tours, i think? (that WATL verse doesn't count. :p ) which would be completely ok if he would play other songs on FM tours, but he doesn't.

lol at LB not knowing songs... yeah that's what he claims, but to him not knowing means doing them like he was doing Rock Away Blind.

oh band has enough contact to know. Mick and Lindsey talked to tons of fans in the last 2 years. they know.

exactly. just read the posts in these setlist threads here and you'll see that rare are the fans coming up with something really different. i think i once made a list, actually, of what songs fans ask for and there's not much new. i was shocked by that ffor a while, but now i know better... i mean, just look at all the crocodile tears over the staple Sara being announced as gone from the set this year, replaced by SOTM that they almost never played lately? it tells you all you need to know.

it's different at LB solo shows, you could actually get some rarities and one-offs, and if this Mac album ever comes out and these never-ending cash grabbing tours finally get to the end, maybe we'll finally get that request solo tour he promised us 2 years ago. the way it's been going, he'll be 80 by then, probably. :p

As a musician myself, I just can't see playing the same songs night after night as a fun exercise. I understand changing up the set might cause some logistic adjustments, but the men who go with the tours are pros, they can change the lighting. It probably comes down to the confidence of the musicians...maybe they just don't have that and it's harder than we think to just come out and play a song without rehearsing (or ever doing it live)?

Example: This just in from Christine McVie... fan choice tonight:
a. Isn't It Midnight
b. Over My Head
c. Oh Daddy
d. Think About Me
e. Why

Here's my consolation idea:

They come out & play Fleetwood Mac from beginning to end, take a 20 minute intermission...return & play Rumours + "Silver Springs" from beginning to end. The encore would consist in any order, "Tusk", "Sisters Of The Moon", "Brown Eyes"...one more encore? Ok, "Gypsy", then good night, Irene, good night.

They have enough security hired that anyone overheard complaining about the concert would be killed where they stand and their lifeless body hung from the rafters of the next concert venue.

really? sorry i might be slow... you are being sarcastic, right, to elicit some reactions? because isn't that practically what they are doing now?

Monday Morning
Warm Ways
Blue Letter
Rhiannon
Over My Head
Crystal
Say You Love Me
Landslide
World Turning
Sugar Daddy
I'm So Afraid

on average, i probably dislike hearing white album songs over and over even more than Rumours ones. Rhiannon? Landslide? ISA?

i'd much rather hear the whole Tusk, or the whole SYW. those are the songs we never hear! or even Tango, although i don't care for most Tango songs nearly as much but it would have been interesting change.

Well, I just followed Pink Floyd's M.O. from their late '70s touring model, sort of.

If I followed it fully, the set would be:

New album in its entirety (whether or not it had been released by the time of the start of the tour)
intermission
Previous album in its entirety
encore
the song with the most airplay from the album before that.

So, using that for Fleetwood Mac we'd have been rid of Rumours tunes by 1987.

Now following that pattern for the upcoming Fleetwood Mac tour, the set would be:

All of any completed songs for the new album (I'll toss all 4 EP songs in this category, too)
Intermission
All of Say You Will (including "Not Make Believe" & "Love Minus Zero/No Limit")
encore
"Temporary One", "Sweet Girl" & "My Little Demon" (since they would've played "Bleed To Love Her" with SYW)

I'll even give them a bonus track & end the show with "Songbird".

Would I have an entirely different set list for them? Damned right.

(really, really sad, I kinda wanted to see Christine again...but, after how they've acted...eff it.)

I agree with allot of what you are saying.

I think those of who are addressing our displeasure with the setlist (if this is legit) have made some very valid points. On one hand I myself am stoked to see FM with all 5 members present (something I thought would never happen). However on the other I am disappointed with the setlist and even the tour for several reasons. Back in April of 2013 when I saw the IYD screening and Q/A in Toronto Stevie had talked about doing a solo tour packed with rarities next year and made no mention of doing a new CD. We all know the Christine coming back threw them all for a loop but it didn't explain why as soon as they announce her return Stevie is all "see ya later guys" and takes off to Nashville to make a record. If this was some sort of record contract obligation why did she not say something at any time last year about doing another album. Because of her leaving and the others working on the new music little time seemed to be spent on really digging deep and coming up with a setlist that was not simply a retread of last years tour (minus 5 songs). If this setlist turns out to be legit that will mean only 4 songs will be new and not have been in any setlist since 97 and that to me comes across as pure laziness and in Lindsey's case very hypocritical given how much he trashed the Eagles for resting on their achievements which is exactly what FM is doing.

What they should have done is once they knew for sure Chris was coming back they could have let Stevie do her album and a short tour this fall and then next year finish the FM album and tour behind it. The album and tour would have been a big hit I think because the way it could have been marketed as the first all new album in 27 years to feature all 5 Rumors members. As it stands now when (if ever) will Stevie get to promote 24 Karat besides maybe a record store signing or two and perhaps an appearance on one of the talk shows etc?

With respect to the setlist I know the band feels the majority of fans only want the familiar but if they stopped and looked at their vast catalog they would see they have allot of great material to chose from so that should be reflected in their setlist selection. For me this setlist cries laziness. Do they need to open with the Chain every show? Since Chris is back why not open with Hold Me or SYLM? They were hits and the audience would enjoy them. As for World Turning it has been part of the encores now for 3 tours and needs to go. Surely then can do something else (Blue Letter perhaps). I'm So Afraid and Big Love and real showstoppers but they have been done to death and he should try something else. I thought Family Man and Tango would substitute nicely for those songs. Another song I think could work as part of the acoustic set would be SMAP and That's Alright as they are not too rocking that they wouldn't work in that acoustic setting. SHN, GDW and NGBA are also songs that were not even singles so they could easily swap them out and do other non singles from other albums. Why not try BTLH again as it is a great song and Christine did sing and play on the track . It would be a great way to play something off of SYW. If they must do Rumors songs then at least dust off IDWK since it is still the one track never played live. Also simply swapping out NTF for IKINW is the safe choice rather then trying to do something else from Tusk. Even Stevie seems to be phoning it in with not 1 new song different from the last tour. I really thought Angel and 7W would be in for sure since 1) Every previous tour has featured one of her lesser known tracks from Tusk and 2) AHS had that performance (even if it was just lip synced) and it was hit back in 87 and I think that the audience would have enjoyed it.

For that matter you could also ask why on earth for nearly 40 years they have ignored Bob Welch's material from 71-74? I really think Hypnotized would go over well as it is a Classic Rock staple.

Tango, Murrow and Come would all work nicely instead of ISA. personally i would choose Murrow and Come over Tango. but please no to Family Man!

re Big Love, i think he tried but never succeeded to produce another complete showstopper like that, so he always keeps coming back to it. but Red Rover is something that can be used to supplement there. and of course Bleed to Love Her is pretty intricate in parts.

and WATL instead of SMAP.

I don't know ... When Red Rover was played, it wasn't a supplement. Both Come and ISA were still in the setlist along with it. I don't see Red Rover as an adequate replacement for either. It cannot even reach the level of Come as far as audience engagement. Not in an FM show. Maybe solo.

"Red Rover" would be an adequate replacement for "Big Love". Especially if he insists on doing "Big Love" alone.

It could go in the spot that a solo "Big Love" would go, then go back & (or finally) do a full-band version of "Big Love" much as they did the full band version of "Go Insane" last tour (or was it the tour prior? Didn't see either one, so don't have it in my memory bank)

I agree with and love everything you expressed in you said in your post. All the salient points you made are exactly how I feel.

The redundancy of their set lists is so baffling and frustrating, since they have such a rich, large body of work that goes ignored. They all seem to lack the bravery to stray outside the confines of certain songs; their reasoning that they have to placate the mass public. Each time they tour, you'd think they would want to change up the format and song sequences to distinguish it from previous tours, and take more stock in never/rarely played album tracks. or give a nod or two the band's history -- songs from Peter Green era and the rich middle period albums song, a Buckingham Nicks song, or a song from each of their solo works (not Stand Back or Has Anyone Ever Written Anything for You), but something that similar to their style, such as Trouble, and pretty much anything from Christine McVie. Even some inspired, well-chosen cover songs!

I was so envious when Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers released their 5 disc Live Anthology with 62 live performances, consisting of hits, deep album tracks, rare tracks, solos and covers. It reveals how, over the course of their career they have performed a vast variety of songs. I wondered if Fleetwood Mac could pull off something similar to this. Would it ever cross their minds?

I love their early shows in 1975/76, when they had to fill in their sets with Fleetwood Mac's older songs prior to the Buckingham Nicks era. For a little while they even closed their shows with a long version of Hypnotized. Once Rumours was released most of those songs disappeared.

Remember how Stevie in countless interviews said that Fleetwood Mac needs to tour and go away for three years? She had a three year plan, which included making a new record, that got completely thrown out the window when Christine came back. I see her going to Nashville and recording an album of songs most of her fans already had as a way to free up the next few years so she can dedicate that time to Fleetwood Mac.

Because of her leaving and the others working on the new music little time seemed to be spent on really digging deep and coming up with a setlist that was not simply a retread of last years tour (minus 5 songs).
I don't see the connection. Her not being present in the studio should have no bearing on the setlist, other than there won't be any new songs. They don't have to be together to figure out which deep tracks they'll be playing. That's a conference call.

Other than that, the setlist is a disaster for those of us hoping to hear songs rarely, if ever, performed, or even old workhorses that were retired years ago (i.e. Get Like You Used To Be, Blue Letter, or Spare Me A Little).

They could easily do their "must do" songs and still have room for 8-12 songs, the "must do" songs being:

Say You Love Me
The Chain
Dreams
Everywhere
I’m So Afraid
Rhiannon
Big Love
Landslide
Tusk
Gold Dust Woman
You Make Loving Fun
Go Your Own Way
Don’t Stop
Songbird

As for World Turning it has been part of the encores now for 3 tours and needs to go.
I have to disagree because it has NOT been done by Christine and Lindsey in 34 years.
