In an effort to keep the boards cleaned up, I figured we could have a running thread regarding press for the 2013 Tour since much of it is likely to be the same info rehashed over and over. If and when Mick and John start talking I'll update it to Fleetwood Mac 2013 Press rather than just Stevie and Lindsey.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The friction between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham that went public with 1977's Rumours has yet to cool.
"We are a cast of characters who never really belonged in the same band in the first place," says Buckingham, 63. "But the synergy works, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the mines lie in the field this time. It wouldn't be a band without that tension. All the same things kick in. I know what I'm supposed to do. I know whose face to get in to make things happen. All those roles are so familiar. I'm ready to pick up the dice and roll again."
Rumours was recorded during the breakups of the band's two couples, Nicks and Buckingham and John and Christine McVie, who left in 1998. The three carried on, along with drummer Mick Fleetwood, and will launch an arena tour April 4. Nicks and Buckingham are considering a 40th anniversary reissue of their storied Buckingham Nicks album next year, with a newly unearthed, previously unreleased track from the sessions.
TOUR DATES: Fleetwood Mac to hit the road April 4
Nicks, the most commercially successful Mac spinoff, finished a two-year tour supporting her lauded In Your Dreams, co-written and co-produced in her home with Dave Stewart. Since last year's release of Seeds We Sow, Buckingham has been touring with his band and in solo acoustic mode.
It was a confidence booster that improved his singing, he says. He's aware Nicks is returning with greater spunk after her winning streak, which could set the stage for a clash.
Her solo outing "renewed Stevie's spirit," he says. "I'm happy she had a couple of great years. If it means a more complex political landscape, so be it."
Buckingham's solo foray "has been good for him," says Nicks, 64. "Playing (one-man shows) can't help but give you a certain compassionate softness. It's very different from Fleetwood Mac."
And while she declares the Dreams project with Stewart "the best year of my life," Nicks is eager to return to Mac and determined to establish harmony.
"I'm going to be very clear about what I want," she says. "What I want is for this band to get along and have a great time. So I'm demanding that. We are going to have a great collaborative working relationship. We're always great on stage. I don't say that from a conceited place. We've been playing since 1975. We know what we're doing up there."
Buckingham can't argue with that.
"The important thing is for us not to let the politics or landmines get in the way of us having a good time, especially for Stevie and me," he says. "There's been a subtext of competition and animosity, which is the flip side of love, for a long time. I think it's driven both of us. Now is an appropriate time for us to acknowledge the context of our relationship and see what's left for us to do. If this is the beginning of the last act, let's wind up in a place that dignifies what we started."

Hungry for a big Mac splurge? After a three-year absence, Fleetwood Mac embarks on a 34-city North American tour starting April 4 in Columbus, Ohio. Tickets for the first run of shows go on sale Dec. 14 at LiveNation.com.
The band, founded in 1967, is celebrating the 35th anniversary of its trailblazing Rumours, which sold 40 million copies worldwide, held Billboard's No. 1 spot for 31 weeks and spawned top 10 hits Dreams, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way and You Make Loving Fun.
Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, who joined in 1975, and namesakes Mick Fleetwood and John McVie last toured in 2009 and haven't released a studio album since 2003's Say You Will.
INTERVIEW: Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham
Yet new tunes may be shoehorned into a set list packed with classics.
"There were some tracks John, Mick and I cut with Stevie in mind while she was on the road," Buckingham says. "It's the most Fleetwood Mac-sounding stuff I've heard in a long time. We've been talking about releasing an EP, but I don't know how these moving parts will fit together yet."
In light of the band's deep catalog, the singer/guitarist isn't concerned about a second consecutive tour without a studio album.
"We'd be OK for one more round," he says. "People do want to hear that body of work and be transported to a certain time. The older you get and the longer the band has been around, you come to terms with the fact that no one's particularly interested in hearing anything too new. It's about what you do with what you've got."
Nicks envisions performing hits, rarities and maybe a couple of migrants, particularly the war-themed Soldier's Angel, a duet with Buckingham from her 2011 solo album, In Your Dreams.
"It's become a standard in my set, and I get a standing ovation every night," Nicks says. "Fans might like seeing Lindsey and I sing it. And it gives me a chance to ask people to help veterans who are so young and so messed up. I turn into an eighth-grade teacher."
Opting to extend her solo tour, Nicks was a holdout when the band wanted to hit the road early this year.
"I had to put my foot down and say, 'I'm not touring with you in 2012,' and it wasn't a very popular idea," she says. "I always think it's good for Fleetwood Mac to be away for three years. Two years is like, well, 'I just saw you.' My feeling was, let 2013 be the year of Fleetwood Mac and make it an exciting event."

After months of reunion rumors, Fleetwood Mac announced Tuesday that they'll return to the road next spring for an extensive tour that will take them all over the globe. The trek will kick off in Columbus, Ohio on April 4th; tickets go on sale December 14th.
"It's the perfect time to go back out," Stevie Nicks tells Rolling Stone. "2013 is going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac."
As was the case with their 2010 tour, the band is hitting the road without a new album to support. The set list will be built around Fleetwood Mac's large catalog of hits. "We always have to play 'Dreams,' 'Rhiannon,' 'Don't Stop,' 'Tusk,' 'Big Love,' 'Landslide' and all our most famous songs," says Lindsey Buckingham. "When you've gone through all your must-do's, that's 75% of your potential setlist. I think with the other 25%, there are areas of our catalog that are more under-explored. Maybe we'll play more songs from Tusk. I'd also like to see an extended middle portion of the show that's just me and Stevie. This is just me talking from the top of my head. For now, I have no particular vision of what this tour is going to be."
From the Archives: The True Life Confessions of Fleetwood Mac
The band begins rehearsals on February 15th, and at that point they'll hash out exactly what songs they're going to play. "We actually have two new Fleetwood Mac songs that I cut with Lindsey two weeks ago we might play," says Nicks. "I had a really good time working with him for four days at his house. I got to hang out with his family and his kids, his grown up kids, and really connect with him again. We’re pretty proud of what we have done, and we’re looking at it through the eyes of wisdom now, instead of through the eyes of jealousy and resentment and anger."
Only American dates are announced, but the group is planning on touring the whole world. "If everything goes will we'll be in Europe doing festivals this summer," says Nicks. "Then we'll actually tour Europe, which is different than just doing festivals. Then we might do fifteen or so shows in Australia."
Check in later this week for a detailed Q&A with Nicks and Buckingham where they discuss the upcoming tour, their failed attempt to record a new Fleetwood Mac album, the possibility of reforming their old duo Buckingham-Nicks and the many tensions that linger in their long relationship.

Great interview with Stevie Nicks ----
Favorite part of the interview.
So at this point there isn't any sort of tension or awkwardness. Everyone's all sort of on the same page?
Everybody is very good right now. I spent some time up at Lindsey's house two weeks ago and we worked on some music. Most of the time we just spent talking about our many stories that we have to tell since 1968, really '66 when we first met. So we spent like 80 percent of our time talking and 20 percent of our time working on some music. And it was really great and he's in a really good place. And he and I are in a really good place, so it's never about Mick and John being in a good place. They're always in a good place. They're happy guys. It's always the drama queens, me and Lindsey. So the drama queens have really calmed down and let a little bit of that drama go and tried to walk down the road of how lucky we are. And how lucky we are to still be friends and how lucky we are to still be able to sing great together. And that what we started as Buckingham Nicks in 1971, when we moved to Los Angeles, has brought us all the way to this place. And that we should drop the drama and try to really enjoy this because we worked very hard to get here.
Stevie hit it right on the nail....LOL, gotta love her.:nod::nod:

Ah, so Stevie finally gets invited to Lindsey's house. I'm not imagining that she made a comment about that in the past, am I?
The "standing ovations" for that unmentionable dirge need to stop forthwith! If that doesn't get the message across, then resorting to heckling may be the only option available...

Does Lindsey ever stop mentioning Tusk? I think the others have to mention it every once in a while, just to get him to be quiet. He's like sitting in a corner rocking and they have to say, "Tusk, Lindsey, tusk," to make it stop.

I have a problem with them having a SnL only segment, in much the same way I had a problem with them going on Letterman alone and performing Big Love and Landslide alone for the HOF.
They are already doing Landslide. They can do SA, but the rest of the songs should incorporate Mick and John. Lindsey can start a song and then ditch the others for a long guitar solo if he wants, but other than Landslide or SA, he and Stevie don't need to perform without the other two musicians.
If they want to be by themselves, do a BN tour. You know, just get a room. I'm tired of it.

poor Stevie - standing ovations just after SA??
Lindsey gets standing ovations after EVERY. SINGLE. SONG. every night. although sometimes they would start only after Come and then go on for every single song after that. so i guess by that logic he should definitely do Come on Mac tour ;)
also, it's interesting that SN is listing every single Mac album she was involved with, even Make Me A Mask, but not Say You Will?? i need to hear Tusk and Say You Will songs! and her not remembering that SYW even exists does not bode well for some of SYW songs that i would love to hear! :distress:

Of course, SA was quite a highlight at the Wiltern, for me.
Awww. I guess Stevie would lose her voice if she named every song of hers that got a standing ovation. It's a given going in that Rhiannon and Stand Back are going to bring the house down.
Michele
Of course, SA was quite a highlight at the Wiltern, for me.
it would be for me there too. Lindsey was there.
i wouldn't know when SN gets standing ovations, i was never at any of hers or FM shows, so you all have to fill me in. but i was there for 20 of Lindsey's. he always got standing Os after practically every song. at every OMS i've seen standing Os started with Come, if not before, and proceeded to the end. even though a lot of audience didn't even know all the songs, and they especially didn't know Come.

Stevie Nicks talks to EW about 2013 Fleetwood Mac tour, reconnecting with Lindsey Buckingham, and why she's addicted to 'Call Me Maybe'
by Leah Greenblatt, December 3, 2012, Entertainment Weekly
http://music-mix.ew.com/2012/12/03/fleetwood-mac-tour-stevie-nicks-interview/
Some chains are unbreakable, even after nearly four decades: Fleetwood Mac announced today that they will embark on a 34-date tour in 2013, beginning April 4 in Columbus, Ohio, and wrapping June 12 in Detroit; tickets go on sale Dec. 14.
EW spoke to the legendary, always loquacious Stevie Nicks about heading back out on the road with bandmates Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie — and what she’s been up to since we last talked to her.
EW: You spent most of 2011 promoting and touring behind your most recent solo album, In Your Dreams. How different is that experience from touring with Fleetwood Mac?
Stevie Nicks: My solo career is more like an intimate gathering, an intimate beautiful party at your home, and Fleetwood Mac is like a big, huge Christmas ball at a big huge ballroom somewhere. Fleetwood Mac is just way bigger and way grander. And I think that’s one of the reasons why it’s always been so good for me to be able to go back and forth. Because what I do is very, very different than what Fleetwood Mac does and vice versa. So when I come out of one and go into the other, it’s very new for me.
And I always try to make sure, I put my foot down, on a three-year time allowance. I think that Fleetwood Mac should not go out any sooner than every three years. Because I think that we need to get out of the spotlight. And it’s the same with me. It’s like, I was out for the last two years, actually promoting a record. And then Fleetwood Mac really wanted to go out at the beginning of 2012 and I said ‘No, I’m not doing it. I will give you 2013. 2013 will then be the year of Fleetwood Mac.”
Three years is a great amount of time to be away. Because Fleetwood Mac is a big-ticket item, and if you just saw us last year, or a year and a half ago, we may not be the one when you choose when the five or six big bands come through your city. And it’s always really good to give people that rest from you. To let them get away from you and you from them. So when that tour starts up, everybody’s super excited. And you’re not gonna be near as super excited if you just saw us at the beginning of last year. I think that it’s really worth it to do that. I will always feel that way, so I have to take a little bit of flak for it.
After all these years and tumultuous relationships within the band, have you figured out how to get along with each other while you’re touring?
Well, in Fleetwood Mac there’s always gonna be drama [laughs]. You’re never gonna get away from that. And I think if we ever got away from that everybody would be very bored. The audiences would certainly be bored. So it’s never gonna happen. But what we have done is, I spent almost a week up at Lindsey ’s house two or three weeks ago. We were working on some music. But we spent probably 70% of the time just talking. And talking about all our old stories. And telling my assistant all the old stories, going all the way back to 1966, when I first met Lindsey. And she’s there, her eyes as big as saucers listening to all this.
It’s really good therapy for Lindsey and I too, you know, and we have stories for hundreds of years that we can tell you. It was great for us. It really reminds Lindsey and I of how far we’ve come and how hard we worked. And how lucky we are to be where we are today. And that Lindsey and I are always gonna be that dramatic couple on stage. Because we just are. It’s who we are.
We’re never gonna be, there’s that French word, laissez faire, we’re never gonna be that. We’re always gonna be tumultuous and we’re always gonna be crazy, and because there’s a part of Lindsey’s and my relationship that is so ultra-special from back in the day, that you can never, no matter how old we get, it’s never gonna go away. He’s married now, he has three beautiful children, and a really lovely wife. He lives in girl world! Between his wife and his two daughters, he and his son are like, they’re a minority. It’s like, these are beautiful little girls and they have little beautiful girlfriends that are all over at the house all the time. So he lives in a world full of women.
[B]They probably don’t know him as a rock star, he’s just Dad.
Absolutely! They don’t know anything about all that. They are from a new generation. So they have softened him.
Do you find that with things like Rumors charting again after those songs were featured in a Glee episode last year, that much younger people are coming to the shows?
Absolutely. When you look out over our audience, you’d be very, very surprised to see how many younger people there are there. And I think that’s not just Glee. It’s mainly because their parents played Fleetwood Mac. And played Stevie Nicks. And those kids heard the music. And they caught onto it a long time ago. And so little kids that were listening to it that are now 25, they’re there.
And at first, when we first went back out in 1998, after not touring for almost 10 years, we thought, “Well really, the only people that are gonna come see us are gonna be people that are our age.” And that was really kinda true, for like the first half. And then, all of a sudden, there’s like tons of really young people, and I can remember Lindsey saying, “Oh my God, I thought that only people our age would come. And I said to him, “Lindsey, build a field and they will come. They are here. So lucky you, you’re not playing to an audience of totally older people. Half of this audience is not even 20!”
I know that you keep up with current pop music — you did the intro for that Katy Perry video last year, and dueted with Taylor Swift at the 2010 Grammys. What have you been listening to lately?
Honestly, I listen to so many people that I couldn’t even… My mind goes blank. I’m walking around singing “Call Me Maybe” all the time. And I can’t help it. It’s like a curse. And I love it. I totally love it. And I kinda like it when I’m singing it by myself and I love it when she’s singing it. I have it on my iPod. And it’s gonna go on my future treadmill tape that I’m getting ready to make.
I listen to Rihanna, I listen to Mary J. Blige — I kinda go toward R&B, and always have, strangely enough. And all my music tastes are about music I play before I get ready to go on stage for three hours, and music that I play when I’m walking on the treadmill and that I want to dance to. I love ballads, and I love the slow wonderful love songs, but they’re not the stuff I listen to that much, because I need energy, I don’t need to curl up in a ball and cry.
So I go more for the soul music, modern and un-modern, all the way back to the ‘50s. Because that’s when I first started singing. I started singing to Top 40 music when I was in the 4th grade, and that was all R&B. That was black girl groups, and the Ronettes, and the Righteous Brothers. That’s kinda where my heart went, strangely enough, since I had a grandfather who sang country music for real, as a job. And everybody in my family would go, “Who are you? Really, why do you like this R&B music when you have a total country background.” And I’m going, “I don’t know. But I do. And I wish you guys would all be quiet because I’m singing.” [Laughs]
What about this tour will be different than your last one?
You know, we always do probably 20-21 songs, and so there’s always those 10 songs that we have to do. Which are the hits. The audience came and bought their ticket to see those songs. But then we have the other 10-11 songs to play with. So what we do is we know the songs we have to do, so we put them all in one column. And then we put all the songs from all the different records, from you know, Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, Tusk, Mirage, Tango in the Night, Behind the Mask, all those, and then we start choosing, well what song have you always wanted to do, John? And Mick? Is there a song you have a soft spot for? So then we start making a list of slightly more unfamiliar Fleetwood Mac songs.
And then, once we’ve made that list, we start sitting around with acoustic instruments and we start playing them. And you never know what’s gonna stick. Because something you might have tried in 2009 or 2003 that didn’t work, and everybody said “No, that’s not gonna go.” And all of a sudden, when we go into rehearsal in February, might totally work. And I think that’s because, it’s just the time. There might be something going on in the world that might really speak to a song on Tusk that we’ve never done on stage before. And so that’s always a really super exciting part. Because we know what 10 songs are gonna be, but we don’t know what the other 12 are gonna be.
Do you feel stuff out on the road at all?
Not so much. If there’s a song where the first night we play we’re like, that didn’t work, we drop it immediately. It doesn’t even get another chance. Because it’s worked out and played beautifully the first night. So when we go up through our first show, we are, and I always say, as Michael Jackson said, in that last film of his rehearsals, when they ask if he’s ever nervous, and he said, ‘No, because if you know what you’re doing there’s no reason to be nervous.” And that’s really true.
So when we walk on that stage on that first night, we have played that show twice a day for six weeks. And we know it. And we are playing all those songs really beautifully. And we know all our parts. It just depends on, you can kind of feel what ticks the boxes of the audience and what doesn’t. There’s a song that we kinda feel was a little bit of a lull – it’s gone. It’s just gone. And then we have, we always have that extra five songs, that we know, and we know people love, and we can always pull a song back. So it’s very exciting.
I mean, because it is big, and because it is grand, it’s almost like it’s more dressy. It’s not casual. There’s nothing casual about it. It’s not casual Friday. It’s fancy Saturday. So you put on your black velvet and your high black velvet heels and you do your hair and you put on a lot of beautiful makeup and that’s Fleetwood Mac. Everybody knows they’re going to a big, dressy party.

 Well, I understand where you're coming from, but I suppose I envisioned it as an acoustic moment - nothing long, maybe 2 or 3 songs? I suppose if I knew, if it was promised to us, that they would do a BN tour then I could do without them performing a few songs alone during the FM tour. I just highly doubt a BN tour would ever happen.
I'm happy with BN songs, but they can do them with the band.

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/posts/la-et-ms-stevie-nicks-fleetwood-mac-2013-tour-new-songs-20121203,0,2403771.story
As long rumored, Fleetwood Mac will hit the road in 2013 with a 34-date American tour that will see the band visit all the major U.S. markets, along with a stop at the Hollywood Bowl on May 25. The dates, which the band announced Monday, will feature co-founders Mick Fleetwood and John McVie along with longtime vocalist Stevie Nicks and singer-guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Fleetwood Mac is touring for the first time since 2009. (Christine McVie no longer tours with the band.)
In addition, according to Nicks, Fleetwood Mac has been working on new songs and is hoping to release at least two of them in anticipation of the tour. Nicks and Buckingham spent four days in the latter’s home studio in November, an interaction that hasn’t happened in a decade but whose history stretches over 45 years.
“This band never breaks up,” Nicks said on the phone from her home in Santa Monica. After the ’09 tour concluded, she added, “everybody said, ‘Goodbye, talk to you soon, and this will start happening again when everybody’s done with what we do when a Fleetwood Mac tour ends. We’ll go out and do something else and then we’ll come back and do Fleetwood Mac.' "
Nicks said that the rest of the band wanted to tour last year, but that she’d been so happy with her most recent solo album, “In Your Dreams,” that she wanted to dedicate more time to supporting it. “I sat everybody down and said, ‘Listen, please understand. I’m never going to break this band up. Never. I’m never going to leave you. I’m just going to go away for under a year’ to focus on the record.
“It’s been a little longer than that,” she conceded, but that as the self-described party planner of the Mac tour, she didn’t want to shove Fleetwood Mac down peoples’ throats so soon after ’09. Her commitment, she stressed, is unwavering: “My first loyalty has always been to Fleetwood Mac. And it will always be.”
On the phone, Nicks was chatty, offering unfiltered thoughts on planning the set design, the set list, and the ways in which she prepares to get back into Mac. But she sounded relieved and most enthusiastic about reconnecting with her longtime creative -- and, for a time in the '60s and '70s, romantic -- partner Buckingham to work on new material.
That process started when bassist McVie, drummer Fleetwood and Buckingham got together in early 2012 to work on new material. Nicks was unavailable due to the death of her mother. But a couple weeks ago, said Nicks, “I went up to Lindsey’s house, he played me all of the songs, and we chose two. He said, ‘I really tried hard to be you, to really see through your eyes when we were doing these songs, and make these songs that you would really like, and that you would really relate to.’ ”
Whether the new material ends up in the set is to be determined.
Of course, the 2013 tour will mostly focus on the dozens of classics that the band has created over the years, the volume of which dictates that any set list be partially written even before the conversations begin. The rest, says Nicks, they'll work out in rehearsal.
Fleetwood Mac’s 2013 tour begins April 4 in Columbus, Ohio, hits New York City on April 8 for Madison Square Garden and moves westward from there. The full tour schedule is below. Pop & Hiss will have more of Nicks' conversation on Tuesday.

I was thinking about that. Kristen really should change her website for the holidays. Seldom have I had so much pleasure. Well, that picture where she was dressed like a spy when she and Lindsey were walking around Europe gave the board a lot of laughter as well, but those pears were the best.

True. I know as much of a stand out as Stand Back is during Stevie's solo shows, I can honestly say that during The Dance tour, I never even looked at her during that song, for the whole tour. Lindsey and John would always switch sides for that song and I couldn't take my eyes off of Lindsey and Christine in the corner together, talking as they played.
We'll all have our own highlights and even when we choose the same song as a concert peak, it will be for different reasons.

Fleetwood Mac announce new music, 2013 tour
Stevie Nicks talks with MSN Music about the band's upcoming tour and when their new songs will be available
By MSN Music Staff 5 hours ago
By Mark Brown
Special to MSN Music
It was hardly the world’s best-kept secret. Lindsey Buckingham told MSN Music last year that he was looking forward to a Fleetwood Mac tour, and Stevie Nicks basically said the same thing on TV earlier this year.
But now it’s a reality, with the 34-city tour kicking off on April 4 and tickets going on sale as early as Friday, Dec. 14. And that’s not all. A deluxe version of “Rumours” will come out with the tour and will include unreleased outtakes and live songs. Plus, the band – Buckingham, Nicks, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie – has recorded two new songs to be released before the tour – one in just a few weeks.
Nicks sat down for an exclusive interview with MSN Music about how it’s all happening again. A couple of interesting tidbits: Nicks doesn’t own a computer and when she’s trying to figure out how to sequence a concert – her own or Fleetwood Mac – she turns to her trusty cassette recorder.
MSN Music: When do you know it’s time to reunite?
Stevie Nicks: I think every three years is perfect. It’s just long enough for everybody not to remember it. They go, "I didn’t see them last year and I didn’t see them the year before that." Fleetwood Mac really wanted to go out this year, and I said I’m taking another year for "In Your Dreams." In the current music business scene I need two years to back up this record … This record meant so much to me I took the extra year. And it hadn’t been three years. Our managers have gotten through our skulls that it needs to be an event. It doesn’t need to be, ‘We just saw you last year.’ … We start up in February, and in my humble opinion, next year will be the year of Fleetwood Mac. It will be spectacular and grand and fantastic.
And you have new music?
I went up to Lindsey’s house for about four days. He and Mick and John had gone in at the beginning of this year and recorded a few songs. They wanted me to come in, but my mother had just died and I really was in no frame of mind to write songs or be in a recording studio. So I said I can’t do it. They recorded several songs. When I went to his house, I chose two of the songs that I really liked and put vocals on them. Lindsey had already put his leads on them. I put my parts on, and it came out great, I have to say. Not that I was surprised. If we try, stuff comes out great.
So how will they come out?
Lindsey and I are not computer people. We understand music piracy, but that’s about it. We do understand that nobody really wants 14 songs. That’s too bad, because we’d like to do 14 songs, but we get it … We have these two and when we get to January we throw a new song out and then another right before we go out. It is two brand-new songs for people to hear who we are today. If there’s an insane rush on those songs, maybe when we come off the road we’ll go and do two or three more. Lindsey said, "If we go out with (new music), they’ll know we care." Of course we care!
Do they have titles?
Yes. One of them is called "Sad Angel" and one is called "Miss Fantasy."
Do you save any songs for Fleetwood Mac? “Stars Are Crazy” on Lindsey’s last album would have been perfect for the band.
You never know when the spirit is going to hit. So you just go with it. … All the music on my solo albums could have been Fleetwood Mac songs, and all my Fleetwood Mac songs could have been Stevie Nicks songs. When it comes to songwriting, it’s all inspiration. If it happens when I’m involved with Fleetwood Mac, then it goes to Fleetwood Mac.
You’ve toured so much in the past few years on your own with lots of Mac songs in the mix. Do you burn out?
When we go up to play, we try to make it different each time. "Gold Dust Woman" morphs every time we walk onstage as Fleetwood Mac. It’s ever-changing. All the songs are … Lindsey is all about change. We have to tell him, "You can’t change the solo in 'Go Your Own Way,' Lindsey! Everybody knows it by heart." That’s hard for him because he’d like to go off on some complete other thing. We have our foundation (of hits)…then we move on and we go back through all the records and we play everything we like. We each have a different 30 songs. We put them up on a board and start playing a minute and a half of each song. If we start to feel it, then we start to work it out. We’re trying to get some more unfamiliar songs every time we go out. It’s fun. We want to stand up there and be excited to do a song we haven’t done for a while. Say, "Sisters of the Moon." We haven’t played that song since the '80s. Maybe it’s going to work this time. There was a time we didn’t do "Sara" onstage. There was a time we didn’t do "Beautiful Child" onstage, which is my favorite song. So we started doing it. Unless you do them onstage you kinda forget they even exist. I sequence the concerts. It’s my forte. I put them on cassette. It’s the only way I can make a tape like that.”
Well, I never thought I’d hear “Silver Springs” live since it was only a B-side from “Rumours” and that ended up being the hit when you first reunited.
I know! It became a single. That song was my mom’s. It was taken off the record and put on the back of "Go Your Own Way" and nobody ever heard it again till "The Dance." My mom started getting these magical checks. She’d say, "I got a check for $20,000!" I said, "It was a long time coming, Mom.”
Did the band ever apologize for dropping it from the album?
Uh, no. They felt it was the right thing to do. It was a team. How was I gonna fight that? But I was very disappointed because I felt it was one of the best songs I ever wrote. That was a little bit of a stupid move. It’ll be in the live show for sure.
Your career has clearly endured, but the music industry is in deep trouble now.
The next few generations aren’t going to have their own Fleetwood Mac or their own Led Zeppelin. The record companies don’t have money to develop artists. Or to support them while they are developing. Or if one record does really well and the next record tanks they’re going to drop them. I feel very bad for them. I think in 20 years they’re still going to be listening to the big acts of the ’70s and the '80s. It’s not their fault. When the Internet came out, everyone thought this is so great. But unfortunately you buy a record now, you find the last Barnes & Noble in town, you put it in your computer and you send it out to 500 of your closest personal friends. … I’m so sorry that the whole younger generation will never experience that. It was so much fun. And nobody knows how to fix it. … It should go back to vinyl. That would force people to buy record players and records. It’s a lot harder to copy a vinyl record than a CD. I wish I could wave a magic wand and fix it.

Yep, I've heard "Soldier's Angel" live and my opinion has not been altered. A bad song is a... well an absolute embarrassment to all concerned in this case. To continually dredge it up during the IYD concerts was shameful enough, but to incorporate it into a Mac show is unforgivable. She ought to be arrested.

It is two brand-new songs for people to hear who we are today. If there’s an insane rush on those songs, maybe when we come off the road we’ll go and do two or three more. Lindsey said, "If we go out with (new music), they’ll know we care." Of course we care!
interesting. i thought she said the problem was the time she'd have to spend recording new FM songs - not that she'd like to record them but people don't want them :p

She's just teasing fans with SOTM. She knows we want it, but April 4 will come and go and it will never happen.
Now, she's sequencing the concerts too. It's her forte, but is she better or worse at sequencing those than at sequencing albums??

I don't even know where she came up with the number 14. She's making the idea of a new album seem much more arduous than it would have to be. How about EIGHT songs. Anyone want 8 songs?

Pay attention, Elle! That was yesterday. She's changed her mind. It's Stevie. ^See above.
Truthfully, she did say (as I've posted before) that the world deserved one more FM album in 2009 during the Unleashed tour when she talked about how they liked to write on the road. She just didn't let FM hijack her solo album this time. ;)

"We put them up on a board and start playing a minute and a half of each song. If we start to feel it, then we start to work it out. We’re trying to get some more unfamiliar songs every time we go out. It’s fun. We want to stand up there and be excited to do a song we haven’t done for a while. Say, "Sisters of the Moon." We haven’t played that song since the '80s. Maybe it’s going to work this time."

LOS ANGELES | Mon Dec 3, 2012 9:26pm EST
(Reuters) - Do not call it a comeback and don't even think of it as a farewell tour.
After more than four decades making music and a 2010 tour, Fleetwood Mac will hit the road again next year. But it won't be its last tour, singer Stevie Nicks vowed, dismissing any notion that the band could be packing away their instruments in the near future.
"It's never going to be a final tour until we drop dead," Nicks told Reuters. "There's no reason for this to end as long as everyone is in good shape and takes care of themselves."
The 34-city tour with dates in the United States and Canada will begin on April 4 in Columbus, Ohio, and finish up on June 12 in Detroit.
The tour coincides with the 35th anniversary of the blockbuster 1977 album, "Rumours," which landed the group four hit singles and sold more than 40 million copies worldwide. The album will be reissued with unreleased studio and live recordings, Fleetwood Mac said.
After frequent changes to the lineup since the band formed in London in 1967, the 2013 tour will feature Nicks, guitarist Lindsey Buckingham, and founding members Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass.
Touring again is "a big deal," said Nicks, 64, who is known for her floor-length blonde hair and frilly outfits.
"I don't want a Fleetwood Mac tour every year or year and a half. That's why people get so excited. ... All of a sudden the world is on edge and that's what gets you out there."
For Nicks, who recently finished a two-year solo tour promoting her 2011 album "In Your Dreams," making music and being on the road is her life.
"If you never stop, you don't lose your energy," the "Landslide" singer said of keeping pace with a demanding tour schedule when each band member is into their 60s. "Even when we stop, everybody is still doing a lot of stuff."
'EVERYBODY IS NERVOUS'
Like Nicks, Buckingham has his own solo career, and Fleetwood has a restaurant in Hawaii and a U.S. vineyard as well as his own music gigs.
Fleetwood and McVie are both founding members of the band, and Buckingham and Nicks joined the group in 1974.
Singer and songwriter Christine McVie, who wrote the big hit "Don't Stop" that was on "Rumours," joined the band in the early 1970s after marrying John McVie, but retired from touring after the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. She still contributes on occasion to studio efforts.
Although the band will not kick off the tour until April, Nicks said the anxiety-filled grind begins months before during rehearsals when band members hammer out which songs to play.
Of the 22 songs Fleetwood Mac will play during a concert, 11 will be hits, such as "Dreams," "Don't Stop" and "Hold Me," Nicks said.
For herself, it is a daily routine of vocal exercises and primping that can take hours.
"It's overwhelming in a good way, but it's still overwhelming," Nicks said of the process. "By the third day (of rehearsals) you start to calm down and get into your role. At first, everybody is nervous and not knowing what they'll do."
But a decade removed from their last studio album "Say You Will," Nicks admits it may be time for another Fleetwood Mac release, adding that she and Buckingham had spent time writing songs together recently.
"Personally, I think we feel better than before," Nicks said. "We're not doing drugs and stuff like that ... You don't know what you'll do when you're not doing this."

^Glad she's saying they won't retire until someone drops dead.
So, can I fantasize about the part where it says Christine still works with them on studio efforts?? I would (and I will when I fall asleep in a few minutes), but I think Christine just told Mojo she hasn't talked to them -- or Stevie anyway, so I'll be dreaming in vain.

This EP talk has been circulating for a while - I think Mick was the first to suggest they would move in that direction. Then, finally when Stevie first mentioned they had already been in the studio working she said they had done "maybe four" songs. I don't see Stevie as the songwriter she holds herself in esteem to be to not put out any songs on a new FM project. It just makes sense they will split it between them. I don't know that it's "new" songs - maybe she went back to the vault again. Regardless, I'm betting there are Stevie Nicks compositions.

The group will hit the road starting April 4 in Columbus, Ohio.
It's official: Fleetwood Mac will embark on their first tour in three years next year.
Focused in North America, the Fleetwood Mac Live 2013 tour includes 34 cities such as New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. It kicks off April 4, and tickets officially go on sale Dec. 14.
The tour coincides with the 35th anniversary of the group's 1977 classic Rumours, which is among the 10 biggest-selling albums in U.S. history, moving 19 million units alone with such hits as "Go Your Own Way" and "Dreams."
STORY: Fleetwood Reuniting in 2013
Early next year, the record will be re-issued with unreleased studio and live tracks.
Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 48.5 millions albums in the U.S. since its formation in 1967. The band's most recent album -- done without longtime member Christine McVie, who retired from the group in 1998 -- is 2003's Say You Will.
The band -- comprised of Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie -- previously toured in 2009.
"After spending four days at Lindsey’s house working on music and one really fun day doing a crazy photo session, I am quite excited about next year. Everything seems to be falling into place. 2013 looks like the year of Fleetwood Mac," Nicks said in a statement Tuesday.

NEW YORK — Fleetwood Mac is heading back on the road, and that means the top-selling group will release new music — sort of.
On its 34-city North American tour, which kicks off April 4 in Columbus, Ohio, the band will perform two new songs, and it could mean a new album will follow. Or not.
Stevie Nicks recently sang on tracks that Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie worked on, calling the sessions "great." But Nicks also says she's not sure where the band fits in today's music industry.
"Whether or not we're gonna do any more (songs), we don't know because we're so completely bummed out with the state of the music industry and the fact that nobody even wants a full record," she said. "Everybody wants two songs, so we're going to give them two songs."
Nicks said depending on the response to the new tracks — which Buckingham calls "the most Fleetwood Mac-y stuff ... in a long time" — more material could come next.
"Maybe we'll get an EP out of it or something," Buckingham said.
Nicks will continue to record solo albums, though. The group is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the best-selling "Rumours" album, which has moved some 20 million units in the United States. She knows that's not possible again, despite the success of Adele's "21," which has sold 10 million units in America in less than two years.
"This is Adele's 'Rumours,'" Nicks said. "She had a baby, she's going to take a year off to take care of her baby — that's why I never had any kids. She's going to go back and start writing again, you never know what the next record's going to be. Is it going to sell 10 million records? You don't know," she said.
Buckingham said he initially wanted to record a new album, but Nicks "wasn't too into that." But the guitarist and singer knows that new music isn't a priority for the band's fans.
"It wouldn't matter if they didn't hear anything new. In a way there's a freedom to that — it becomes not what you got, but what you do with what you got. Part of the challenge of this tour is figuring out a presentation that has some twists and turns to it without having a full album," he said.
Fleetwood Mac, which was formed in 1967, last released an album in 2003, though they hit the road in 2009. Nicks and Buckingham — who originally joined the band in 1974 as a couple — both released solo albums and toured last year. Buckingham had suggested that Fleetwood Mac tour last year, but says getting everyone to agree was tough.
"If you look at Fleetwood Mac as a group, you can make the case of saying we're a bunch of individuals who don't necessarily belong in the same group together, but it's the synergy of that that makes us so good. But it also makes the politics a little more tenuous," he said. "You can say that not only can it be a political minefield, someone's always causing trouble, right? I caused trouble for years so I can't point any fingers."
The tour also includes cities such as New York, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and will end June 12 in Detroit.

DANG IT STEVIE. Whyyyy? Who cares if no one wants a full album (which isn't even true... sure, maybe 12 year old Justin Bieber fans only have the attention span for 1-2 songs.. but since when is your fan base full of pre-teens? Your fanbase is largely people who, just like you, spent their youth laying on the floor listening to vinyl records, c'mon now) You guys are approaching retirement age... make a full album while you can.

American Express cardmembers can get advance tickets for all tour dates. Live Nation mobile app users will have access to presale tickets beginning Thursday, December 13th at 10:00 AM (local time). The full list of tour dates follows this release.
Multi Grammy-winning and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Fleetwood Mac last toured in 2009 with the sold out Unleashed tour. The new tour also marks the 35th anniversary of the release of their classicRumours album (1977), one of the most successful albums in recorded history with sales exceeding 40 million copies. Rumours planted itself at the top of the pop charts for over 31 weeks and had four top ten singles.
To coincide with the tour and anniversary, a new deluxe reissue of Rumours with previously unreleased studio and live tracks will be released in early 2013 from Rhino. More details on the set will be announced soon.
The current Fleetwood Mac lineup includes Mick Fleetwood and John McVie – both original members since 1967, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks who joined the band in 1975.
“Having started Fleetwood Mac with John McVie in 1967, it has always been so gratifying that despite the various incarnations, the band has survived. Throughout the years, though, the one thing that has remained constant is our fans. I am looking forward to getting back behind the kit, reconnecting with the fans and sharing the stage with my fellow band members,” commented Mick Fleetwood.
“After spending four days at Lindsey’s house working on music and one really fun day doing a crazy photo session, I am quite excited about next year. Everything seems to be falling into place. 2013 looks like the ‘year of Fleetwood Mac”, commented Stevie Nicks.
“I’m really looking forward to hitting the road with Stevie, Mick and John in 2013. It’s been over three years since we’ve toured together and happily the break allowed me to explore a lot of uncharted territory as well as experience tremendous growth creatively. I’m excited to bring that back to the band. When everyone in FM wants the same thing at the same time, it’s cause for celebration. Long Live Fleetwood Mac!” added Lindsey Buckingham.
“I’m really looking forward to going back on the road”, commented John McVie.
Nicks has just completed a two year tour coinciding with the release of her critically acclaimed In Your Dreams CD which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard Pop Charts. In Your Dreams was released on Reprise Records in 2011, and was co-written and co-produced by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard. Nicks also produced and co-directed a documentary film of the recording of In Your Dreams which has received rave reviews at the Hamptons International Film Festival along with several other film festivals.
Buckingham has been touring to sold-out crowds over the last year in conjunction with his critically acclaimed September 2011 release of Seeds We Sow, his 6th solo studio album and first independentrelease, which debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Rock Album Chart. He was recently honored with ASCAP’s Golden Note Award, and has also received the prestigious Les Paul Award.
In August, Mick Fleetwood opened his brand new restaurant, Fleetwood’s On Front Street, in Lahaina on Maui. The grand opening included musical performances by Mick, Steven Tyler, Jonny Lang and more. Mick also founded Mick Fleetwood’s Private Cellar, which has produced over 20 vintages and varietals earning multiple medals in international tastings. Mick’s band, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, was nominated for a Grammy in 2010 for their album Blue Again.
John McVie has spent the past three years enjoying his family and solitude at home in Hawaii.

Stevie Nicks dishes on new and old work with Lindsey Buckingham

Some of the most exciting news to come out of a conversation with Stevie Nicks on Monday was when she discussed a recent studio session with fellow Fleetwood Mac member and longtime collaborator Lindsey Buckingham. The two will join Mick Fleetwood and John McVie to resurrect Fleetwood Mac for a 2013 tour, but they have a history that extends long before they joined Mac in 1975.
The pair recorded one gorgeous, self-titled record in 1973 as Buckingham Nicks, and it was this work that prompted Fleetwood, McVie and then-keyboardist Christine McVie to ask them to join Fleetwood Mac. The rest is (a tangled, romantically complicated) history.
Jump to early 2012, when -- as Nicks calls them -- "the boys" in Fleetwood Mac got together to work on new material. Nicks had just lost her mother to pneumonia, then contracted the virus herself, and was unable to join them. The three soldiered on, with Buckingham writing two songs specifically for Nicks. A few weeks ago she heard those rough tracks for the first time.
“I went up to Lindsey’s house, he played me all of the songs, and we chose two," Nicks said on Monday. "He said, ‘I really tried hard to be you, to really see through your eyes when we were doing these songs, and make these songs that you would really like, and that you would really relate to.’"
She says the process was quite different than the last time they collaborated in 2002 for “Say You Will” because Buckingham and Nicks weren’t in a professional studio this time. “We were in his house where his wife and children are,” she said. “We had dinner with his family every night, and it was a whole other deal. We spent half the time working on these two songs, and the other half of the time we spent talking about our life, going all the way back to the beginning, to 1966 when we first met in high school, when he was a junior and I was a senior.
“We laughed and laughed and laughed about all the crazy things that have happened to us,” she said, describing the interactions as “a very cathartic time, and a very healing time, I think. And the songs came out great."
Nicks said the two songs are called "Sad Angels" and "Miss Fantasy," and will be available in the months leading up to the tour. "The words are very interesting, and the melodies are great, and it’s like they did go back to a time long ago. I think the world will be very taken with these songs."
As far as another full-length album, Nicks was more tentative. "We’ll just see," she said. "If the world loves them, then we have something to gauge what’s going on as far as Fleetwood Mac goes. And then at that point we record two more songs. So we don’t have to record a 14-song album, but are putting out some consistent product.'
Die-hard fans will be excited to know that the pair also dug further into their past by recording an unreleased song by their pre-Mac duo Buckingham Nicks that Nicks discovered in her archives. "Neither of the two of us can figure out why the heck it didn’t go on the 'Buckingham Nicks' record," she said. "Maybe it was the last song and there wasn’t room. We don’t know, but we recorded it, and it came out great."
Nicks' hope is that it will see release as part of a CD reissue in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of "Buckingham Nicks." The album has never been reissued either on CD or digitally.
Alas, that milestone will likely be overshadowed by a bigger one -- and one reason for the reunion: the 35th anniversary of "Rumours," which will be marked with a new deluxe reissue featuring outtakes that will arrive in 2013.

.....BUNK!!! That's ALL I want!!! I could care less about another tour, featuring the same 15 songs we've heard for the last 35 years! (And let's be honest....neither Stevie's nor Lindsey's voice is what it used to be live!).
As for Stevie's comment about the industry not "wanting" a full album....BUNK again!!! Give 'em a good one ~ no, a GREAT one!!! ~ and they would eat it up!!!

Fleetwood Mac Announce 2013 World Tour (With New Songs?!)
December 2012 by Adrian Garro and Jeff Cazanov
After a few months of *ahem* rumours, Fleetwood Mac announced a world tour today.
The trek, which begins on April 4th in Columbus, Ohio and ends on June 12 in Detroit, will head to Europe and Australia after the North American run comes to a close.
It will be the band’s first tour in three years.
Lindsey Buckingham told Rolling Stone that the shows will be mostly Greatest Hits sets, with some room for other material:
"When you’ve gone through all your must-do’s, that’s 75% of your potential setlist. I think with the other 25%, there are areas of our catalog that are more under-explored. Maybe we’ll play more songs from Tusk. I’d also like to see an extended middle portion of the show that’s just me and Stevie."
Buckingham has already spoken in the past months about new Fleetwood Mac songs and recordings. In early 2012 Mick Fleetwood, the reclusive John McVie, and Buckingham recorded a number of Lindsey’s tunes, which he then later brought to Stevie Nicks.
There is no doubt that a couple of these will be worked out in time for the tour, and according to Buckingham – perhaps even enough for a full-fledged Fleetwood Mac album.
What is perhaps most disappointing (yet not surprising) about this news is that Christine McVie will not be along for the ride. The legendary singer and Fleetwood Mac fan-favorite has led a hermitic life, only popping out occasionally to see the band or accept another one of their countless awards. She hasn’t appeared with the band since 1995, which continues to sadden long-time fans who believe that there is no Fleetwood Mac without her.
Earlier this year Mick Fleetwood spoke of McVie to VH1 Classic Radio:
"She’s done. She’s out of the music business, sadly. But I always leave the door slightly open because there maybe a situation where – hey – she may write a song with Stevie and Stevie will sing it, and she’ll do a little bit of vocalizing on it."
While McVie’s presence on the successful long list of FM songs will be missed, we are all looking forward to the rest of the band, and their new songs…
.....BUNK!!! That's ALL I want!!! I could care less about another tour, featuring the same 15 songs we've heard for the last 35 years! (And let's be honest....neither Stevie's nor Lindsey's voice is what it used to be live!).

Lindsey Buckingham On Christine McVie: “She Didn’t Have To Burn As Many Bridges As She Did”
December 4, 2012 10:51 AM
Christine McVie, Fleetwood Mac, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks
Fleetwood Mac has just announced dates for their 2013 tour. For those who haven’t followed the band’s continuing saga, the group now consists of founding members Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass, along with singer/guitarist/songwriter Lindsey Buckingham and singer/songwriter Stevie Nicks.
Singer/keyboardist/songwriter Christine McVie — who wrote and sang “Say You Love Me,” “Over My Head,” “You Make Loving Fun,” “Think About Me,” “Hold Me,” “Little Lies,” and of course, “Don’t Stop” — left the band after their reunion tour promoting 1997′s The Dance.
Since then, the band have toured as a foursome (with support musicians in tow), and have released a (double) album, 2003′s Say You Will. But time can heal all wounds — The Rolling Stones recently played two concerts where they were joined by former members Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor for a few songs. So, would Fleetwood Mac ever welcome Christine to join them for a few of her classics? CBS Local put that question to Lindsey Buckingham.
“Well, that’s a good question! It’s an odd thing for me, in many ways I’m having a better time in the band as a foursome, only because it opens up a range of things that I can do. Except for maybe ‘Don’t Stop,’ we don’t do a lot of her stuff. It opens up the amount of material we can play, it allows me to be more of a ‘guy,’ to be more of who I am up there,” he explains, saying that without a keyboardist in the band, his guitar takes center stage. ”I would be shocked if she ever expressed any interest to do anything with us. Shocked and pleased.”
Christine has attended one Fleetwood Mac show since leaving the band (she declined to perform with them), but she hasn’t had much contact with the group in the past decade. But Buckingham explains that she was going through a lot of life changes at that point.
“She ended up getting a divorce, she ended up selling her house in L.A., she moved back to England, she quit the band, she sold her publishing,” Buckingham said. “She didn’t necessarily have to burn as many bridges as she did. Everyone sometimes wonders whether or not there might have been more of a middle ground for her to strike, not necessarily in terms of her staying in Fleetwood Mac. But she just wanted to reinvent herself. She seems to want to lead the antithesis of the life she led before, and I don’t pretend to understand such a radical change but it was obviously something she needed.”
As for the current lineup of Fleetwood Mac, it’s been nearly a decade since their last record. Will there ever be a follow-up? “I don’t think we’re going to be cutting a new album.” He notes that he, John McVie and Fleetwood spent some time in the studio recently. “Stevie was on the road at that time. We have some time to see if we want to put something together, we were thinking of maybe an EP or something. We have to get everybody on the same page with that. But John Mick and I cut some very good stuff.”
In the past decade, most of his new songs have landed on his solo albums, 2006′s Under The Skin, 2008′s Gift Of Screws and 2011′s Seeds We Sow. He’s just released a solo acoustic album exclusively on iTunes, One Man Show, documenting a recent solo acoustic theater concert.
“What I do as a solo artist is kind of tapping into the left side of the palate, the more esoteric side of things,” he says. “So I think inherent in that is losing a greater portion of the people who might be Fleetwood Mac fans for different reasons. Obviously it’s the difference between playing in an arena and playing in a theater.”
Having just wrapped a solo tour, it looks like Buckingham will be spending the next year or so in arenas. Get Fleetwood Mac’s tour dates at their official website.

Tue 4th Dec, 2012 in Local News
So far only American dates have been announced for the latest round of Fleetwood Mac shows – their first since 2009’s Unleashed tour – but Stevie Nicks has revealed that the group is planning an extensive tour of Australia in late 2013.
Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood will begin rehearsing in February for a 34-city North American tour that runs from April until June. The band then plans on hitting Europe to tour the festival circuit before turning their attentions to Australia. “We might do fifteen or so shows in Australia,” Nicks told Rolling Stone .
“It’s the perfect time to go back out,” Nicks explained. “2013 is going to be the year of Fleetwood Mac … We actually have two new Fleetwood Mac songs that I cut with Lindsey two weeks ago we might play … We’re pretty proud of what we have done, and we’re looking at it through the eyes of wisdom now, instead of through the eyes of jealousy and resentment and anger.”
While the set may include a few new songs, the band is hitting the road without a new album so the set list will be built around their large catalogue of hits. “We always have to play ‘Dreams,’ ‘Rhiannon,’ ‘Don’t Stop,’ ‘Tusk,’ ‘Big Love,’ ‘Landslide’ and all our most famous songs,” Buckingham told Rolling Stone. “When you’ve gone through all your must-do’s, that’s 75% of your potential setlist. I think with the other 25%, there are areas of our catalogue that are more under-explored. Maybe we’ll play more songs from Tusk. I’d also like to see an extended middle portion of the show that’s just me and Stevie.”
Fleetwood Mac haven’t released a new record since 2003’s Say You Will, but their back catalogue was plundered earlier this year for the Just Tell Me That You Want Me tribute album, which includes covers performed by Tame Impala, Best Coast, MGMT, The Kills, Antony and collaboration between Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo and Dinosaur Jr.’s J. Mascis.

Don't you think you are being a little dramatic and silly? Especially since your opinion is not the norm regarding this song. Most reviews were favorable regarding Soldier's Angel, from what I remember reading.

One other thing that kind of de-bunks Stevie and Lindsey's theories.....didn't that Eagles album of a few years ago (LONG ROAD OUT OF EDEN) sell, like, 4 or 5 million copies? And that wasn't even that good of an album!!!

Lol! That was a great interview. It was sweet when she was saying she wished Lindsey's parents could see his house. Also kind of funny when she said she looked at his house & said "look what we've done".
But, she didn't come out & say she liked the decor - just the house. ;)
When she talked about the "oh no not another greatest hits tour" I did think someone's been listening! I hate if it really hurt anyone's feelings & understand they have to do a lot of the hits - but I am glad she knows Unleashed was not their best effort & I am looking forward to some kind of shake up. I know they can still put on an exciting show.

I have to side with Phil on this one.....good idea, weak execution. BY FAR one of the weakest tracks on IN YOUR DREAMS, both vocally and production-wise. I can't help but feel that a more hushed, intimate acoustic vibe would have benefited the song more.

This "pleased" is nice. Also, he mentioned that she sold her publishing, which I have been frustrated that I don't know more about and we have talked about it here. I can't find press mentions of it. Even if it happened before articles went digital, I can't even find it on the trusty old microfiche.

Well, his mom saw him be very successful. And she saw him have a baby. She didn't see him settle down to the extent that he has. But I think she saw a lot.
As for the dad, yeah I wish he had lived to get something out of his coffee plant troubles. I'm sure Stevie and Lindsey pranced around and annoyed him big time. I don't even know where she came up with the number 14. She's making the idea of a new album seem much more arduous than it would have to be. How about EIGHT songs. Anyone want 8 songs?
Also, I don't think Lindsey is concerned with music piracy.
Michele
New Order is releasing an 8-song album; it's being dubbed a "mini-album." That's good enough for me. Frankly, a new Mac album with Christine would be 12 tracks. So I don't see why Lindsey and Stevie should tack on an extra two each. . . the Mac is a POP band. 8 songs where they are forced to be "commercial"--err: PLEASURABLE--is what I want from them.
New Order - LOST SIRENS (mini-album)
http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/poprock/detail/-/art/New-Order-The-Lost-Sirens/hnum/1895612
I have a great idea. They could do 8 tracks, four each, plus a short instrumental. Call it Fleetwood Mac's 8-1/2!
It would also, a la the Fellini film, be the 8-1/2th Lindsey/Stevie studio album: BN, FM, R, T, M, TITN, TD, SYW.

The current Fleetwood Mac lineup includes Mick Fleetwood and John McVie – both original members since 1967, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks who joined the band in 1975.
"Having started Fleetwood Mac with John McVie in 1967, it has always been so gratifying that despite the various incarnations, the band has survived. Throughout the years, though, the one thing that has remained constant is our fans. I am looking forward to getting back behind the kit, reconnecting with the fans and sharing the stage with my fellow band members," commented Mick Fleetwood.
"After spending four days at Lindsey's house working on music and one really fun day doing a crazy photo session, I am quite excited about next year. Everything seems to be falling into place. 2013 looks like the year of Fleetwood Mac," commented Stevie Nicks.
"I'm really looking forward to hitting the road with Stevie, Mick and John in 2013. It's been over three years since we've toured together and happily the break allowed me to explore a lot of uncharted territory as well as experience tremendous growth creatively. I'm excited to bring that back to the band. When everyone in FM wants the same thing at the same time, it's cause for celebration. Long Live Fleetwood Mac!" added Lindsey Buckingham.
"I'm really looking forward to going back on the road," commented John McVie.
Buckingham has been touring to sold-out crowds over the last year in conjunction with his critically acclaimed September 2011 release of Seeds We Sow, his 6th solo studio album and first independent release, which debuted at No. 6 on Billboard's Rock Album Chart. He was recently honored with ASCAP's Golden Note Award, and has also received the prestigious Les Paul Award.
In August, Mick Fleetwood opened his brand new restaurant, Fleetwood's On Front Street, in Lahaina on Maui. The grand opening included musical performances by Mick, Steven Tyler, Jonny Lang and more. Mick also founded Mick Fleetwood's Private Cellar, which has produced over 20 vintages and varietals earning multiple medals in international tastings. Mick's band, The Mick Fleetwood Blues Band, was nominated for a Grammy in 2010 for their album Blue Again.
John McVie has spent the past three years enjoying his family and solitude at home in Hawaii.

So the article said Christine attended only once concert since leaving. I thought she attended both SYW and Unleashed.

Alas, that milestone will likely be overshadowed by a bigger one -- and one reason for the reunion: the 35th anniversary of "Rumours," which will be marked with a new deluxe reissue featuring outtakes that will arrive in 2013.
Rumours was released in February of 1977 and the reissue is due in 2013. Since when would a difference of 36 years be defined as a 35th anniversary release?

This "pleased" is nice. Also, he mentioned that she sold her publishing, which I have been frustrated that I don't know more about and we have talked about it here. I can't find press mentions of it. Even if it happened before articles went digital, I can't even find it on the trusty old microfiche.
I'm glad Lindsey has backed me up on this. You believe it now that he said it. I know you doubted me when I said this. But I do find it odd that he would imply this occured in the 21st century, because she sold her publishing in the mid 1980's.

And knowing the amount would be intriguing. Surely, with inflation, the market value of Stevie and Lindsey's publishing rights should be a lot more today.

Yes, kind of like the choice lottery winners have to make. Christine opted for an immediate lump sum, while Stevie and Lindsey will collect forever.

FLEETWOOD MAC
What if they toured and no one cared?
They've gone back to the well so many times, burned out so many markets, that to think they're just gonna put tickets up for sale and sell out is to believe the Democrats and Republicans are gonna settle their financial disagreements by the end of the day.
They charge too much and deliver the same old thing, but without Christine McVie, it's a cash grab and the only people who can't see it are the rich too blind to know the tickets they're overpaying for will not make them look good when they show up the next day and say they were in attendance.
Yup, that's what sells the expensive ducats. Pricks who just want to say they were there. Who come late, talk through the show and leave early. Who probably weren't even fans in the seventies.
At least the Stones had a hook. The fiftieth anniversary.
Then again, Stones sales were weak at the end of the last tour, and Fleetwood Mac has been far from an instant sellout for years.
No one cared about Lindsey Buckingham's last solo album, and although stellar, Stevie Nicks's In Your Dreams didn't do gangbusters. The group is more than the sum of its parts. Then again, where's Christine? It's not that people know her, but they know her songs, which she won't sing.
As for Lindsey's guitar pyrotechnics, the modern Fleetwood Mac audience is turned off as opposed to turned on. Like I said, the audience is not the stoners of yore, but the matrons and He-Men of the Universe of today.
But the press just parrots the story. As if people care. They don't. And the fact that the band doesn't realize this amazes me.
The Who are doing terrible numbers. Not even filling half an arena in some cases. We got it. You need the money. You're missing half the band and we've seen you ad infinitum. Furthermore, Roger's pipes are now substandard, kind of like Lindsey's.
I'm not saying the Mac doesn't have a right to go on the road.
But I am saying that when you put money in front of music, we get to point out the emperor has no clothes, that you're living in the wrong decade, that you're representative of everything that's wrong with our country, where concerts are not life-changing events but financial affairs wherein you pay your multiple mortgages and the only people who get a good seat are the ones who employ subterfuge or overpay or both.
We thought classic rock would rule until the end. But what we find out is these greedy people end up exposing their mercenary ways and become positively creepy, turning us off.
Thank God the records are perfect. They can't be changed.
As for new music, put out one song as good as "Rhiannon" or "Dreams" and that'll give you a reason to tour. Just one, I dare you.

^Um, what kind of subterfuge can I employ to get a good seat? That sounds really compelling. Does it require a fake mustache, 'cause I've got one.

Totally agree about the "pleased."
When did she sell her publishing? Does this mean she doesn't get paid when one of her songs is used or performed on tv or in presidential campaigns? She sold her publishing but then must have created a new publishing name for In the Meantime...

When she sold her publishing, it contained all her compositions up to that point. Every creation after that is hers to profit from. From memory, I believe that's what the deal stated.

Fleetwood Mac reuniting for American tour

The Mac is back.
After three years working on their own projects, Fleetwood Mac -- Stevie Nicks, Lindsey Buckingham, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie -- will reunite for a 34-city American tour, starting April 4 in Columbus, Ohio, and including a stop at Madison Square Garden on April 8. Tickets go on sale Dec. 14 through Live Nation.
The tour coincides with the 35th anniversary of the band's album "Rumours" and the 40th anniversary of the album from pre-Mac duo Buckingham Nicks. However, Nicks said Monday that it isn't yet clear what role those anniversaries will play in the tour.
"We just want to put together the best set possible," Nicks said from her Santa Monica, Calif., home. "We want to create the best two-and-a-half-hour experience for the people."
Nicks said the band has already recorded two new songs -- "Sad Angel" and "Miss Fantasy" -- that they plan to play on the tour. "They're a lot of fun," said Nicks, adding that she wasn't sure if the songs would be released as singles before the tour or if they would be held until a full album is finished. "I think they sound like really great Fleetwood Mac songs."
The band will begin rehearsals in mid-February, though the four have already started discussions about the staging and the setlist. "If we had to do a show the day after tomorrow, we could," Nicks said. "The boys are that good. . . . The great thing with Fleetwood Mac is that we are a finely tuned machine."

The boys aren't that good. They've just been playing the same exact set for 40 years. Sure, they could do a show the day after tomorrow, if they had to. Monkeys could after 4 decades.

It's always interesting to hear Stevie's "real" take on things several years after the fact. About the recording of SYW. That she and Lindsey weren't very happy with each other in 2003. That the "Unleashed" tour was really benign and them "playing the parts." Kinda makes you wonder what she'll be saying in a few years about In Your Dreams ;-)
Seriously though, hearing he say that about the Unleashed tour makes me somewhat happy, I guess. Other than Storms and hearing Stevie take part of the lead on Say You Love Me, there really wasn't much good about that tour. Stevie was rather dull, from what I remember (yes, I understand that she tones herself down a bit in FM, when the spotlight isn't hers to hog), and even the song that will follow me down as my favorite (Silver Springs) lacked that ooph and passion that MADE the song my favorite.
I really hope that she means what she says about this tour being different...about them wanting to do some different songs this time around. But then again, it's very much her style to have a big TALK when it comes to future projects...and then deliver the same old product again and again (specifically when it comes to live shows).

Is it me or does this sound like the Stevie version of "big machine, little machine"?
And the similarities of the verbiage in the recent interviews:
LB:"There's been a subtext of competition and animosity, which is the flip side of love, for a long time.
SN:we’re looking at it through the eyes of wisdom now, instead of through the eyes of jealousy and resentment and anger."
Wonder if it's any reflection of all the yakking they did at his house......

Rolling Stone Q&A w. Lindsey and Stevie
"Stevie Nicks
Is there any chance that Christine McVie might guest at some point on this Fleetwood Mac tour?
I would say there's no more a chance of that happening than an asteroid hitting the earth. She is done. You know when you look in somebody's face and you can just tell? She doesn't want to do it anymore. She doesn't want to fly. She doesn't want to come back to America. When she left, she left. She sold her house, her piano, her car. She went to England and she has never been back since 1998, so it's not really feasible, as much as we would all like to think that she'll just change her mind one day. I don't think it'll happen. We love her, so we had to let her go.
I've been hearing rumors of this tour for a couple years now. How did it all come together?
In 2010 I made a record, and I toured all that year. Then I decided to take this year and give this record that I'm really proud of one more year. I thought it deserved it, and now I'm done and I'm letting it go. I'm ready to go into Fleetwood Mac. In my opinion, whenever we work we should be off the road for three years. It feels special when you haven't seen us for three years. You didn't just see us a year and a half ago. That's why I make an effort to not do it every two years.
Are you thinking about making any new material with Fleetwood Mac before the tour?
Well, we don't have a lot of time. We go into rehearsal on February 15th. We do actually have two new songs. I went into Lindsey's house two weeks ago and spent four days there. We also recorded a very old Buckingham Nicks song that we loved and couldn't figure out why it didn't go on the album. It got brushed under the carpet somehow. We recorded it, so that's a third song.
Next year is the 40th anniversary of Buckingham Nicks, and we're hoping next year to get the record out. Then we'll take that lost song and put it on the record. That's kind of exciting, though it doesn't have anything to do with Fleetwood Mac. People have been waiting forever for that record to come back out. Fleetwood Mac is totally good with us doing that. They know.
It was great spending time with Linds. We're old enough now that we've laid down our weapons. We started this whole thing in 1968 and we're proud of what we've done. We look each other in a slightly different light now. It's a good light.
Do you think the set list is going to be very different than the last tour?
What we do is go through our entire catalog and everybody makes a list of the songs they want to do. There's about 10 songs we have to do no matter what. You have to go "Go Your Own Way" and "Landslide" and "Dreams." You can't get out of that, but when you're Fleetwood Mac you do a two-hour-and-20-minute set. It means you have eight or nine other songs you can pick from your catalog. That's what we do. We put them all up on a board, like in school. We play all of them and see what works.
A lot of your peers have been playing their classic albums straight through on recent tours. Has there been any talk of doing Rumours straight through?
Well, no. But we do a lot of songs from Rumours. If we did that, we would really be left with only a certain amount of time to do the hit songs that people want from all the other records. So that would be a very different tour. That's not to say we couldn't do it, but that's not the tour we're doing this year. It might be fun at some point though. It might even be a good idea to film that. Then we could talk about each song and all the experiencers that went along with them.
Do you envision Buckingham Nicks coming out as a deluxe edition box set?
It is the 40th anniversary, because it was released in 1973. We have this new version of an old demo. So, we should put the album back out, and if we can make that happen then Buckingham-Nicks should go out on the road next year. It would be great to do it in the 40th anniversary year. This might not just be the year of Fleetwood Mac, but we might throw in the Buckingham Nicks album for a special, sparkly, extra present.
So you might actually reform the original band and take them out on the road?
There's always a possibility. That is a situation where we would actually go onstage and do the complete Buckingham Nicks album. It would be a trip to bring it back with Waddy Watchtel and some other people from San Francisco. It would be trippy for Lindsey and I to revisit those songs.
Do you think a new Fleetwood Mac album is possible at some point in the future?
We did record two songs when I was at Lindsey's house those four days. He and the boys recorded in the beginning of the year. I didn't go because my mom had just died and I wasn't in the frame of mind to go into the studio or write songs. They recorded some songs, which turned out great. So I chose one and Lindsey chose one and I put my vocals on them. They came out great. I'm really proud of them. They tried hard to pretend I was there recording with them.
We have two new Fleetwood Mac songs and one Buckingham-Nicks song. We have new product, but I don't know what we're going to do with them. Maybe we'll throw one of them out in January and the second one in February. The music business is very different right now. I don't understand it. I don't have Internet. I don't have a MySpace Face page. I don't have all that and I don't want it. Nobody is really interested in buying albums with 14 songs on them anymore. It breaks my heart, but that's the way it is and I have to accept that.
Maybe the thing to do is release five or six songs at some point during the year. We can record four new songs and throw them out when the tour is done. I don't really know. I'm so not a part of today's music scene. I really couldn't tell you because I just don't know.
I could be wrong, but I'm sort of sensing that lots of the drama from the band's past is gone. Things seem pretty functional right now.
Well, don't seriously fall for that. We're a dramatic bunch, but a lot of the anger is at least tempered now. There was a lot of anger and resentment and crazy things that went on for a long time. It's always going to show up here and there, but we're not focusing on it right now. We're going to try and never focus on it again. But that does not mean we aren't full of drama.
I guess it's mostly behind the scenes these days.
You might see a little of it onstage. That's who we are. We're dramatic. Lindsey and I will always be dramatic. When you were almost married for seven years, and then you've been in a band for 30 years, it's never not going to be dramatic. We are who are are and we were dramatic kids going together. That never really goes away.
I guess it's a very complicated relationship, to put it mildly.
Yeah, mildly.
Lindsey Buckingham
I spoke with Stevie last week. She said she wanted the band to be gone for three years, because anything less would make the tour seem less special.
There might be a little bit of rationalization to that. We had actually planned to tour last year. We hadn't done any routing yet, but there had been a commitment from everyone, and then it got put off. Stevie had done her album and I had done mine as well. Hers came out a bit later and, to be fair, someone is always causing trouble in the band. She would look at me doing these small, solo things where I nurtured myself and brought that back into the band. I don't think she had one of those experiences, whether it was an album or touring behind an album for a while. She needed to have that experience.
It was fair enough for her to want to extend that until she felt it had been played to her satisfaction. There's no judgment on putting the tour off for a year, but it was a surprise to everyone. We had planned on it for a while, and she had planned on it. But things change, and that's a part of Fleetwood Mac. We're a moving target. We're a group of people who, you could make the argument, don't belong in the same band together. It's the synergy of that that makes it work.
It also sort of makes us the anti-Eagles, in terms of never, ever being on the same page. One thing I admire about the Eagles is they always seem to know what they want. They always seem to know why they want it. They always seem to want it at the same time. We're just the opposite. It's kind of a political minefield out there. It's interesting.
It's interesting that the drama is now entirely out of the public eye. Back in the 1970s, it was all laid bare for everybody to see.
We're still doing what we're doing, but we're not this year's model, per say. We're in the fabric and people want to see what we're doing and we can do business. But we're not in the public eye. Can you imagine if we'd done Rumours in today's media climate? Oh my lord. But the thing about that album is that we were laying bare out personal lives through the subject matter of the music. It became detached from the music and became more about the success and the tabloid-ism. That's fine, but it's not something you want to do everyday.
Speaking of Rumours, have you thought about playing it straight through on this tour? It might be a nice way to switch things up.
That's not a bad idea. That would be pretty cool. I'll bring that up, see where it goes. It could cause problems in terms of how you make the arc of a set that works and isn't too long. You'd have to frame it somehow and it would potentially disruptive to the bigger picture of what we're trying to do. But, hey other people do it. Why can't we? What do they do? Do they come out and play the album and that's their set? Do they do other things too?
It varies, but usually they do the album in the second part of the show. They do an hour or so of other material, maybe take a break, and then do the album straight through, followed by encores.
Well, let me think about that. The only problem I can see with that, and I'm just shooting the **** with you here, is that it was vinyl. Side A builds to a crescendo with "Go Your Own Way." Then it sat back down with the piano song by Christine. Side Two starts off strong and then tapers off into a . . . it doesn't have a . . . unless we mixed up the running order. I suppose we could do that, but that really isn't in the spirit of what you're talking about here. It'd be problematic, unless you followed it up with some other stuff. Ending the set with "Oh Daddy" and "Gold Dust Woman" doesn't sound right to me.
Maybe there's something inherently unfriendly about that for that album. It certainly worked as an album and it worked very well as something that was resonant with all of our personal lives whimpering out at that time, too. I'll give it some thought. I will.
Stevie didn't think it would work for this tour.
Of course she didn't. [Laughs] Well, that may be not be a fight I want to fight then! I gotta pick my battles here.
How do you envision the set being different from the last tour?
Good question. Good question. It's kind of a mystery. You have to understand you do come to a point where people aren't . . . where it isn't a prerequisite to go out and do things people haven't heard before. In a way, they don't want to hear anything new. They are coming to hear a body of work. When you come to terms with that, it's kind of freeing.
For right now, I don't have a particular vision of what this tour is going to be. I don't have an agenda for it. Knowing Stevie, she probably talked about this one track she wants to put on Buckingham Nicks, right?
Yeah.
[Laughs] What did she say about it?
It's the 40th anniversary, so it's time to finally put it out on CD and maybe do a tour with the old band, possibly including Waddy Wachtel and the other guys.
Oh, the old band with Waddy Watchtel. Wow. Well, listen, I would love to do a tour with Stevie. I think that would be very appropriate. She was talking about doing it in between legs of a Fleetwood Mac tour, which is not going to happen. It's logistically impossible. It's economically suicidal because you can't do enough touring it make it worthwhile.
Putting out Buckingham Nicks, I'm totally down with that. To do what she's talking about, we need some bonus tracks. We need to do one from each of us. I'm totally down with that. I'm not necessarily opposed to doing that in a Fleetwood Mac set, although it hits me a little bit like we're going off message. But did she mention any other new material to you? I bet she didn't.
She said you cut one new Buckingham Nicks song from an old demo, and two new Fleetwood Mac songs.
Here's what happened. She was on the road. I was aspiring to do a new Fleetwood Mac album, because that would have been really nice, wouldn't it?
Yeah. It's been almost a decade.
It would have been really appropriate at this point. Stevie wasn't really into doing it. She wasn't into it at all. But I went ahead and got John and Mick over from Hawaii and we cut eight new songs of mine. All of them were doing in the proper key for Stevie's voice, if she were to sing the songs. I had no ideas for what she could sing.
My intention was that she would come in, hear the songs and then get engaged and want to bring some material to the table and we could have a new album. That didn't happen. I really just think she didn't want to do an album. And that's OK. I think the reason probably was she didn't feel like she had a bunch of material sitting around that she wanted to give up, or she didn't have any material sitting around, period, any new stuff. That I don't know.
I think she felt maybe a little bit intimidated by the fact that all this stuff just showed up. I mean it really was pretty spectacular, I thought. John and Mick were playing their asses off. I wanted to use a really under-the-rradar producer to help me, because I didn't want it to seem like a big deal. I really wanted Stevie to be engaged with it without it being anything that there was any public awareness of at the time, so we got Mitchell Froom in. I had never worked with him before.
I don't know where she was calling from.
Somewhere in Florida . . . In theory, she is going to come back with a couple of tracks to balance it out. We've got these two great things that she's singing and she likes very much. They should be something we do in the set. If we decide to put out an EP, maybe around the time we hit the road, we have a lot of time. That's in April. I'm hoping that will happen. We'll see.
But you definitely think that Buckingham Nicks tour is not going to happen this year?
How could it? Let's look at the logistics. We've got about 40 dates right now on the books for America, starting April 3rd. We're running into the middle of the summer, and they may add more dates. We're going to take a break, maybe a month, I'm going to go vacate with my family in July probably. I'm thinking probably then, obviously if things are going well we're going to go play in the U.K. There are a ton of places we've never played that we could play, but let's just say we play only the places we have played, which is Germany, Scandinavia, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand. Let's just leave it at that. I mean . . . now we're into . . . Obviously you do maybe Australia last, because the weather's going to be better down there in the fall. So how do you even contemplate doing a Buckingham Nicks tour anytime in 2013?
I guess you can't. Will the album finally come out at least?
Well, she's all big on that and I don't have a problem with that. I mean, I don't know how many people actually care that it's the 40th anniversary. If it were up to me, and it may be to some degree . . . this is just something that was an idea off the top of Stevie's head, in the same way she brought in a song for Fleetwood Mac and turned it into a Buckingham Nicks song in a couple of days.
You can't follow this stuff because it's a moving target. It complicates a set of preconceptions you already have about Fleetwood Mac, which is really the message we're on now. But, okay, if it were just you and me I would say it doesn't matter it's the 40th anniversary.
Stevie, if you're serious about touring behind Buckingham Nicks, let's wait. I would have two scenarios. One would be to wait and put it out close to the end of the Fleetwood Mac tour. When the tour is done and go rehearse a proper show and do it. Another thing would be to go ahead and put out Buckingham Nicks as a sort of secondarily level of awareness around a Fleetwood Mac tour. It's a little off message, but that's fine. When the tour is done we can go into the studio and cut a new Buckingham Nicks album. That would be the most credible thing you can do. Then you'd have to enough material to do a whole show.
There's nothing expedient about any of this. It's a total commitment to the idea of the past and the present as regards Stevie and Lindsey. Again, if you contemplate doing shows as Buckingham-Nicks, there's only nine songs on that album. Even if you do the whole album, you don't have enough for a show and you're back to doing your other stuff. That isn't necessarily bad, but it isn't a huge statement. I don't know. There are a lot of questions surrounding how we'd do this. Stevie said to me, "We could do give shows." Five shows!
That's a lot of work for five shows.
And what are you accomplishing by doing that?
The two of you have a very complicated relationship.
Now that you've talked to the two of us, are you starting to feel like a shrink?
A little. I'm just hearing different visions for the future of your partnership.
I've been saying to Stevie for years that we should revisit Buckingham Nicks. I know there's a market for it. I'm not saying . . . I know we're not going to go out and play arenas . . . I think something elevated happens with the two of us and there's an interest in that . . . It's a bit of an intangible. But I've been saying that for years. To me, if you're going to do it, do it properly. I just feel like a lot of what she's talking about is kind of skimming and isn't necessarily well thought out. She does things from the heart, but you have to do things that have logic, too. And make some sort of sense on any number of levels. I don't know what she's thinking even. She's going to take Waddy and all these people out? We can't do that. We have to reinvent that whole thing.
[Publicist: Alright Andy, can you ask your final question?]
OK.
You can make it long. I have nothing else to do today . . . Is this article going to get me in trouble?
No, of course not.
[Laughs] Oh, it's funny. You know what's really funny is that for so long we've had to keep all this stuff under wraps. Then the two of us start talking on the phone, and she's talking about it . . . everything just comes out. It's almost like the old days where we were talking to each other through songs, and now we're having conversations through you. It's very strange, isn't it?
Yeah. I've been here before. A couple of years ago the guys in Aerosmith were all yelling at each other through me.
[Laughs] That's very funny. Well, you're doing a good job then.

As for BN, that's a red herring. While there is a small market for it and Stevie has heard fan suggestions, Stevie has no interest in going on a BN tour (with or without Waddy and the guys) and I think she's just shooting the breeze. Talking like that is no more than politely offering the interviewer a cup of coffee over the phone. I wouldn't even respond to what she said.
Lindsey was funny wondering if the article was going to get him in any trouble. My troublemaker.

My favorite bits from the RS interview:
Stevie - "This might not just be the year of Fleetwood Mac, but we might throw in the Buckingham Nicks album for a special, sparkly, extra present." ooo sparkly!
"RS: I guess it's a very complicated relationship, to put it mildly.
Stevie: Yeah, mildly." - hilarious! :p i love her dry humour!
I love how open, less rehearsed Lindsey was in this interview!
In response to playing the whole album...
"RS: Stevie didn't think it would work for this tour.
Lindsey: Of course she didn't. [Laughs] Well, that may not be a fight I want to fight then! I gotta pick my battles here." he's learning ;)
In response to releasing BN on CD/touring as BN...
"I'm not necessarily opposed to doing that in a Fleetwood Mac set, although it hits me a little bit like we're going off message. But did she mention any other new material to you? I bet she didn't." I find it hilarious when they ask interviewers what the other said - it always comes off so adorable, like a little kid, "what did she say about me?" very passing notes in class like
And ALL of this  love it!
"I got her to sing on two of my songs. We had a great time, by the way; we had a really fun time hanging out. It was just so much fun, which was just really reassuring and we hadn't had that much fun together in a long time. (Did you have fun Lindsey? lol)But, in the meantime, she decided to take this track that was supposed to be for Fleetwood Mac, and put it on the Buckingham Nicks album. At that point I sort of glazed over. In my mind, she still needs to come with a few things for Fleetwood Mac. She's vacationing in wherever she is, Key West or wherever. Is that where she is?
I don't know where she was calling from.
Somewhere in Florida . . . In theory, she is going to come back with a couple of tracks to balance it out. We've got these two great things that she's singing and she likes very much. He must of had one big cup of coffee this day! :p
In regard to a BN tour...
"Lindsey: Stevie said to me, "We could do five shows." Five shows!
RS: That's a lot of work for five shows.
Lindsey: And what are you accomplishing by doing that? I'm in total agreement with him here, you can't just do five shows!
"RS:The two of you have a very complicated relationship.
LB:Now that you've talked to the two of us, are you starting to feel like a shrink?" :p hilarious!
"LB: [Laughs] Oh, it's funny. You know what's really funny is that for so long we've had to keep all this stuff under wraps. I am more in love with LB now after this interview! I agree with him on every single thing concerning BN and FM - I love Stevie, but I guess I'm the pragmatist like Lindsey. But that's why they make a great team, it's the balance of logic and heart :xoxo:

This Rolling Stone Q&A w Stevie & Lindsey is disturbing on so many levels. For me it just confirms what many here have already surmised over the many years. Stevie & Lindsey have not been on the same page probably since the White Album and never will...EVER again.
It's strange and a total pivot from when Stevie's initial press interviews for IYD early in 2011, she was totally down for recording a FM record, esp. if Dave Stewart was the de facto producer.
So what changed her mind?
Was she in fact so distraught that her mother passed away un-expectantly, that she really could not bring herself to record with the boys last spring before embarking on her 2012 IYD summer/fall trek? Or was the fact that Lindsey not so subtly rejected DS as co- producer and brought in Mitchell Froom instead to oversee the sessions. Hmmmm...
Or was Stevie finally just completely disheartened by the music industry and the lack of mainstream success In Your Dreams received. Disillusioned forever now that she really has it ingrained in her head that she is done with recording albums. If that's the case, what she fails to realize is that IYD was a big success with her hardcore fan base & therefore a huge catalyst in energizing her fans getting out and going to see her solo shows in '11 & '12. We were getting sick of her GH & covers tours beginning in 05'.
And don't get me started on Lindsey & Stevie's un-parrallel universe regarding what to do with Buckingham Nicks. Yikes. FM really is a land-mine of contradictions and huge ass egos.

I've gotta say, this is the most off the cuff and engaging Q&A I've ever seen with Lindsey. No formulated, regurgitated answers. It feels like we're actually hearing who he is. I really, really hate Stevie isn't game for a Mac album or an EP... but perhaps Lindsey is right. Maybe she just needs some time to write some new material. :)
so if you look through this thread as well as the one about 2 new songs, you'll read all these discussions where people were claiming:
1) Lindsey does not want new FM album, same as Stevie.
2) Lindsey would never ever work with the outside producer for FM album and This is 40 thing is just an anomaly which he would never do for FM.
what came out in RS interview today:
1) Lindsey really wants to make a new FM album and he went into great and somewhat deviant lengths to try to get Stevie on board.
2) Lindsey brought in an outside producer for FM album.
of course, i'm reading posts above and everybody seems unhappy with something or other. so as LB says - he'll always be in trouble no matter what he does. i'm sure that by tomorrow we will have bunch of posts saying again, with no leg to stand on, how neither Lindsey and Stevie wants to do a new FM album.
and, what do you know, Lindsey actually wants a whole new BN album, besides just putting out the old one?! so that they would actually have the whole setlist of BN songs to tour with and not just add BN songs as a filler to their FM and solo material. (if you are going to do that, then why do a separate BN tour and not just incorporate BN into FM since it's all flowing into each other anyway in that case?)
and he wants Stevie to crank out at least 2 new FM songs before the start of the tour since there is a lot of time till then!

Stevie - for once - had me all excited & then LB had to ruin it.
But he didn't say never, he just doesn't think a tour would work next year - and I agree with him! I'm already going to be cash poor buying tickets for the Mac! I need another year to save up for the BN shindig! Also, I would love love love more BN tracks! If they do a BN tour they shouldn't be playing any Mac songs imo. Now, as far as Waddy and the band, I don't really care. If it's full band, I'm cool with that, but don't you think it would be amazing if he and Stevie did an semi-intimate tour like he did this year? Obviously, they may need some larger theatres since it's the both of them, but arenas aren't necessary. I think the best option would be, like he said, to release the BN cd after the Mac tour, maybe in time for Christmas 2013? Then tour in 2014, even if it's only a 20 date thing. I think the call for tickets to such an event would be too large for 5 dates alone! It's funny, because I saw this interview as entirely hopeful! as far as things to come for both BN and FM!

I understand your point, waiting stinks :p I guess the thing I'm most concerned about is her changing her mind... A lot can happen in a year, hell a week! But, I just don't find it feasible to do 2 tours at once :distress:
I'd have a conniption if there was to be a BN tour! One reason to do just five shows us to perfect it just enough for a DVD. So, I wouldn't knock the five date solution, because we would get something lasting from it. Also, Stevie just said that 35 shows quickly turn into 50 shows. In The same manner, five shows could turn into 10 or 15; you have to start somewhere. So, I would not reject a five show stint. I just don't think Stevie's at all serious about any sort of BN tour. Michele

I totally get that, and a DVD would be great, but if they do anything BN I want to be there! I want to experience it live. Even if it's 10 or 15 dates I think it will be really hard to get tickets. Yes. He is similar to the guy in the Detroit interview. When Stevie said she didn't want to do another greatest hits tour like Unleashed, he jumped in and contradicted her. She was trying to discuss her back catalog including angel and SOTM. He interrupted and told her that the fans wanted to hear all of the hit songs and said it made him sad to hear her say that she felt she HAD to play those. He wanted her to WANT to play Dreams. That guy was totally annoying. He is why we can never have nice things.

 True!
I've actually been to a concert like that, except it was a band who covered all of Sgt. Pepper on the anniversary of its release a couple years ago. They did a small set of their own music, it was a local band, and then they played the Beatles album all the way through. They were a pretty decent band, and I think regardless, it's really fun to hear an album live in its entirety! However! Not Rumours... If anything, let's play Tusk all the way through :blob2: But, ultimately, I don't think it's a good idea for them without Christine.
But if she would do five, agree to that and then go for more after there is a commitment in place. Bait and switch -- or up the ante.

Stevie's probably reluctant to record an EP's worth of songs, for the same reason Mick said Christine was reluctant to record a few new songs with the band in 2002 -- she's afraid she'll get roped into doing something more than she wishes to.
I still can't say I blame her, no matter how much I personally want new music from her in any form. She may say "the world doesn't want to hear 14 new songs," and that "there's no time in our lives to spend a year in the studio," but what she's really saying is, "If there's any hope for Lindsey & I to remain on speaking terms, we'd better just stick to touring."

because she doesn't have any new songs, and she can't keep up with Lindsey's break-neck speed these days?
everything else sounds like a lot of rationalization.
the only song she said she could bring to the table was the 40 yo BN song.

The only song I will be interested in with a new BN album is the new tune, which I think will be "Without You." However, if I want to listen to BN, I can just play the record, which is great quality. I wouldn't buy the new CD. I can download the new song online (and pay for it). I would be interested in a BN tour though.
Question: If Stevie doesn't think people want to buy full CDs anymore, why is she so into a BN re-released CD?
I don't personally know SN or LB so don't care why she doesn't want to contribute to at least one of her songs on the new FM stuff. I am just bummed that neither of the new FM songs include hers. I was at least hoping for one each.

Yeah - okay. Why would you think she doesn't have new songs? Lindsey was probably baiting her with that ridiculous comment. Stevie has more songs in one journal than he has probably written ever. LOL. Maybe she is just hanging onto to them & doesn't want him to work on them. Regardless, she's got songs. She could even pull one out of her a** if she had to.

Honestly I think she knows there's time to record at least one of her songs by the tour kick-off more than four months from now. I can't believe that she would not at least include one of her own tracks on the new FM released songs for a variety of reasons including ego, financial. What happened to the famous "song vault?"

I think we're reading too much into Stevie's comments which, as Michele said, are basically just off-the-cuff responses to an interviewer who clearly wants certain answers. He asks her about the 40-year anniversary of BN, and she says something to the effect that "Yeah it would be great to do something." Then he asks if she would reform the whole band, and she says "That would be a possibility." Then he goes to LB and tells him "Stevie says that the BN album should be re-released and that you should go on tour with Waddy and the gang." To me, it's much more the interviewer's idea than Stevie's, but now he's got LB wondering where Stevie's head is at. The interviewer is kind of like a little kid, playing mom and dad off one another to put ideas in their head.

Yeah, I did think that too - especially with the Rumours thing! Since when has Lindsey ever been interested in giving that album so much attention? I'll tell you when - since never! What a weird train ride that was. I remember during the Unleashed press when they were originally going to put out this deluxe boxed set - Lindsey was bad-mouthing it left and right. He was like - why? what's the point? Been there, done that.
So, yeah - I guess the reporter was doing a little baiting himself.

No, I don't think he believes these things. He was outvoted, so he's just following the company line, but he doesn't have to. He needn't say anything negative about having no new music, but he doesn't need to say anything insincere about it being so liberating to only have to play the new songs either. I hardly think they wore her down with this tour. Mick said what he said to get her to commit earlier and to try to get something going a year ago. That didn't work and she didn't tour in 2012. But I'm sure she would have been ready to tour in 2013 anyway. I don't see her having caved in to pressure of any kind. It's not like she is against FM tours.

Lindsey Buckingham reveals Fleetwood Mac new music
And that a Buckingham/Nicks reunion is in the works
By Mark C. Brown 3 hours ago
Fleetwood MacFans knew a Fleetwood Mac tour was imminent, but what they didn’t know was that new music was in the works. Two new songs, “Sad Angel” and “Miss Fantasy,” will come out before the tour kicks off in April. But longtime fans of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks might be even more thrilled with this development: They’re seriously considering reviving their pre-Fleetwood Mac career as Buckingham/Nicks – and recently recorded a song that was originally intended for the follow-up that never came to their one self-titled album. Buckingham sat down to talk exclusively to MSN about the new (and old) recordings.
MSN: When we spoke last year about your solo album “Seeds We Sow” you said a Fleetwood Mac reunion would happen.
Lindsey Buckingham: “Did I say it was going to happen in 2012?”
Yes, but you said you wanted to do an album first. Stevie told me she wanted to do an album but people aren’t interested in them anymore, so you have just the two songs for now.
“Oh no, that’s not true. I don’t know what she’s talking about. She just didn’t come with any songs. She didn’t want to do an album. I said ‘Stevie, what do you think?’ and she said ‘No, I don’t want to do that.’ So I didn’t push it. I’ve got all this stuff sitting around. I’ll get John (McVie) and Mick (Fleetwood) over here from Hawaii and do a low-key, under-the-radar situation, producer-wise, just see what happens. We cut like seven, eight tracks with Mitchell Froom and the stuff turned out great. We did it all in the proper keys for Stevie’s range, and for her to drop in her parts. My hope she would hear some of this stuff and love it and get drawn in. She wasn’t really prepared to love it, so she didn’t. She’s starting to love it more now, now that she’s on a couple. She felt sort of put-upon and that’s fair enough I guess. She had her idea of not wanting to do it and here I was getting John and Mick over, doing this rah-rah thing. Come on guys!”
I have a feeling this interview is going to get the tour canceled before it begins...
“No, no, no, not at all. But I think probably she felt put-upon in the sense she didn’t have a lot of material sitting around to bring. Maybe there was a sense of pressure on her part. I was talking to Mick yesterday. At some point we’re going to be very glad we did this material. Something’s gonna happen with this. What that is remains to be seen. If we only use a couple of these for now, that’s fine. Stevie still needs to come with something. Who’s to say? I’m not pushing for an album. Down the line, maybe. I think it would be great. Stevie’s gotta be happy, she’s gotta be comfortable and that’s really the bottom line.”
How did you hook up with Mitchell Froom?
“I had never met Mitchell but spoke with him on the phone. I like the guy. I like some of his reference points that I was aware of. I also knew he was a very skillful string-arranger in case we wanted anything more outside the box like that. And to top it off he lives about five minutes from me. We did this whole thing in a very handcrafted way. I’d go into his house and gave him all my rough demos first, some of which were fleshed out, others just snippets of things hummed into my phone….we sort of agreed on what songs we’d do, worked on arrangements. We had the whole thing worked out before John and Mick showed up. Then it was pretty organic. It was interesting for him – the peculiarity of how we do things… for three weeks we came up with all that’s stuff. It’s all very pop. It hearkens back to the Fleetwood Mac classic feel. And John and Mick were just playing their asses off.”
With all your recent touring and solo albums and new songs are you in a particularly prolific phase?
“I’m not sure. It’s maybe the fruition, or something like that, of the choices I’ve been able to make and implement. You can take it way back if you wanna get really philosophical and go back to ‘Tusk.’ Since 2005, we got off the road from doing the ‘Say You Will’ tour. I was working on a certain level of frustration at having several attempts of solo projects being co-opted and turned into Fleetwood Mac projects. It happened several times. I asked for three years off in order to do two back-to-back albums, which I did, just trying to get it all out of my system … I did ‘Under the Skin’ and ‘Gift of Screws’ … I began to get a much stronger sense of myself by putting some chronological things together …confidence enters into it, I guess, but just focus and momentum.”
Let’s talk about the new music coming out. There’s another deluxe “Rumours” package coming out with more unreleased stuff. After the DVD-A and the previous deluxe release what’s left in the vaults for that?
“You’re asking the wrong guy (laughs). I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but it’s a marketing thing. I don’t have much invested in that. What my function is when these things come out – someone else finds this stuff, finds stuff that hasn’t come out before. Then it’s my job to make sure it’s OK, that it’s something I’m comfortable with… that the whole thing makes sense or even relates to the ‘Rumours’ album. Having said that I’m not a fan of repackaging things over and over again. I wouldn’t lose any sleep if this package didn’t come out, let’s leave it at that.”
It’s frustrating to fans to get that again while the surround-sound mix of “Tusk” is still sitting in the vaults.
“We did it! Getting Warner Brothers to put it out is another matter. And getting the band to want to put it out. That was my baby and there’s a certain subtext of it being the undermining factor of the brand. Maybe there’s a certain sublime level of suppression going on – not that anyone’s sitting around saying that, it’s just not on anybody’s A-list of things to do (laughs).”
Tell me about the new songs “Sad Angel” and “Miss Fantasy.”
“I was writing a lot of stuff. I was thinking about Stevie when I was putting these together. Many of the songs I came up with were directed at Stevie. They were a dialog to her. Both those are very much that. ‘Sad Angel’ – I think of her in all her traumatic splendor as having quite a bit of sadness that she still deals with. At the moment that it was being written I really was thinking about the fact that she and I were not agreeing on the idea of an album. The chorus is ‘Hello, sad angel, have you come to fight the war?’ It goes on to talk about ‘the crowd’s calling out for more.’ It’s sort of a cyclical look at our lives, the competitiveness of it yet the underlying unity of it. Each of our journeys has never been not a little about the other. ‘Miss Fantasy’ is more of the same thing. It’s a look back on….it’s talking about having a dream, recalling certain events that occurred years and years ago. The chorus is talking about ‘Miss Fantasy, it may be that you don’t remember me, but I remember you.’ That’s addressing all that’s happened over the course of time. You remember the person you were and the person I was back then? Is there any way to find any of that? Do we want to? Is it important to? Those are songs about Stevie and me.”
Buckingham/Nicks
Doing the song “Stephanie” on your solo tour from the out-of-print 1973 “Buckingham/Nicks” album raised fans’ hopes that it’ll come out on CD someday. You also made a comment on the BBC about working with Stevie again. I assume that meant this tour but it was interpreted by some as you saying you might want to re-form Buckingham/Nicks.
“That’s not a misinterpretation. I would love to go out and do Buckingham/Nicks. It’s sort of ironic because when Stevie came over here and started working we just had a great time, the best time we have had in years. She did bring in one song that was supposed to be her contribution to the Fleetwood Mac thing. After we were done with it she decided she wanted to put it on the ‘Buckingham/Nicks’ album (laughs). So that’s fine too. I don’t care. It’s an old song from pre-Fleetwood Mac. It was written sometime after ‘Buckingham/Nicks’ came out but before we joined Fleetwood Mac. We were working on a second possible Buckingham/Nicks album that never happened. So yes. The issue with all of that is once again a logistics issue. I have no problem with dropping a bonus track or one from her and one from me and putting out ‘Buckingham/Nicks’ finally on CD. …she said ‘We could do some dates between legs of the Fleetwood Mac tour.’ I’m thinking ‘No, I don’t think so. I don’t think it’s logistically possible.’ We’ve got a little less than 40 dates on the books, we’ll probably add a few more…we’ll do Europe and probably go down and do the summer in Australia and New Zealand. When the hell are we going to get together and rehearse a Buckingham/Nicks show? So in my mind if she’s really serious what would be good to do is wait to put the (old) album out, or put it out and then do a new Buckingham/Nicks album. The tour would have to wait till after that. Whether or not that will happen….she’s very heartfelt about what she’s saying, but it isn’t always clear. I don’t know what to say about that. But yes, to be very direct in response to your question if it were up to me… I would love to go out and do that again. That would be so cyclical and so karmically appropriate. If you see Stevie just tell her I said that.”

Certainly, he was trying to get her, but I don't think it accelerated her any after all. If Mick had been successful, then it would have been 2012 instead of 2013. She was for an FM tour first, before she was against it anyway. She was the first one talking about another FM tour after Unleashed anyway.
Then, it didn't happen when the men wanted in 2012. They lobbied in the press, but I don't think they won. I don't see a 2013 tour as any concession on her part.

you know what? a radical thought - maybe LB, who apparently is already thinking like SN these days, can work with her on writing music to some of all those poems she has? you know, like Lennon and McCartney ;) (like they would do on that island in Ireland she was talking about after SA? :p)

I'm a huge Stevie fan, but I actually completely disagree with this. I think she is completely creatively blocked. She has writers block. She isn't inspired. She's got nothing. I think that is why she is making all these excuses. Her saying that no one wants music is simply her covering up the fact that she doesn't have any music to provide!
Or, she is just too lazy to produce any music. It's totally her right to do that. I'm a chef, and sometimes I just order Chinese take out when I have friends over. :sorry:

I don't know why you would think this. Probably the only time she has been blocked is those Klonopin years.
But let's just say she hasn't created new music (and I'm sure she has loads of new stuff even since IYD). She still has old music that would be new to Lindsey. She has demos from years ago she could give him. I don't think she wants to. Yes, she could change her mind in the next few months and will probably give him 2 songs.
But I don't think the fact that she's been withholding has anything to do with her being a barren song dessert.

Nahhh, IMO Stevie doesn't want to record with Lindsey all that much, only if it's on her terms and w/ Dave Stewart in tow. Stevie is still holding tightly onto her SYW grudge. She recorded a new song (demo?) with Dave this past September. And at the IYD doc Q&A's Stevie mentioned another song she had just written that she sent off to Dave called "My Mothers Rings" or something like that. Stevie is definitely holding out and holding back material for one reason or another.:rolleyes:
IBut let's just say she hasn't created new music (and I'm sure she has loads of new stuff even since IYD).
then why didn't she write any new music even for IYD? other than SA all new music on IYD is credited to either Dave Stewart, Mike Campbell, or Neale Heywood.
(or did she give them credit for something they didn't do? why would she do that?)

You know, I don't remember any talk about a new album or new songs a year ago when the boys wanted to do a 2012 tour. Wasn't it going to just be a cash-grab? Unleashed Two we were calling it. I thought Stevie deserved some credit for saying no to that. The extra year off gave LB some time to work on new music with Mick and John, and he had fun doing it, so maybe we should thank Stevie for that. But after Stevie and Lindsey spent 2012 doing the solo thing, there's no way they could do a new album without postponing this tour a bit longer. It's convenient to blame Stevie for the lack of new music, but when it comes down to it, I don't think the boys were willing to wait any longer to pad their bank accounts.
He has really turned me off to Sad Angel. Maybe I will be pleasantly surprised but, goodness. The more he describes it, the more frightened I get. I thought Dancing was nothing to write home about, but now I'm burning stationary thinking about what could be down the road.
Michele
 yeah i was reading his description of new songs and thinking - he seems to be describing Dancing - is that one of them? but then he went on quoting lyrics and they were not from Dancing.

She may not want to do an FM album or work on songs with him, but it has nothing to do with her not having songs. She could write 4 tonight if she wanted to. I'm sure she's got loads of junk in her journals after her mother's passing,

Fair enough -- and I retract my statement, your honor. ;) (That was said with humor & affection, by the way.)
Regardless, I hope she doesn't cave in to the desire to record an album.

Love Lindsey's part of the interview! He is chatting like he chats to us! None of the usual know-by-heart babble! Funny and open and uninhibited! The Lindsey we know and love!:xoxo:
Yes! And in that MSN interview too! It's especially refreshing after the same, albeit endearing, speeches he's been giving for his past solo tour
hm, sounds like more rationalizations
he wouldn't have to work on them, he brought in Mitchell Froom to work on them!!
he was trying to make his songs in a way she would like (that worries me frankly!), recorded them in a key she could sing, how much more red carpet can he roll out?
Right! I mean, I'm sorry, I love Stevie, but the case is building against her in my opinion. She may have her own personal reasons for withholding, but we aren't privy to them. I understand her whole obsession with Dave Stewart, but surely she has enough songs to give both of them...
LOL. Can you see this?
Lindsey: Dragging Froom in the studio door - "Ste-vie...look what I found... a producer!"
Stevie:
 Yes, yes I can.
^Now, I'm interested again. LOL!
So, the BN song couldn't be Without You, right? If it was a BN II song before they joined FM?
You just made me realize this...hmm interesting. And see! LB is back with some straight answers.
Love the interviewer: "I have a feeling this interview is going to get the tour canceled before it begins..." Seriously though, be careful kid!
 yup, someone has to write the music to that poem discussing Kanye and Kim.
you know what? a radical thought - maybe LB, who apparently is already thinking like SN these days, can work with her on writing music to some of all those poems she has? you know, like Lennon and McCartney (like they would do on that island in Ireland she was talking about after SA? )
she could eat dinners with his family, they could do 7 songs in 7 days, and meanwhile reminisce happily about their beautiful houses and their long winding road.
 that would be one very dysfunctional, crazy...wait, no that would be an amazing reality show! ;) sort of like Survivor. Stevie gets to play Jeff Probst: "Lindsey, the tribe has spoken."

didn't Lindsey say in that RS how much they had to keep under wraps and how it is all coming out now all of the sudden once Stevie started talking about it? so if we didn't know about it, does that mean they were not talking about it?
and didn't SN say in one of the interviews over the last 2 days (or was it Mick in that audio interview?) that LB wanted to do an album and then a tour in 2012?
the extra year gave Lindsey a chance to:
put together 60 dates of his One Man Show tour lasting from May through November;
record 3 new songs for Judd Apatow soundtrack;
record these 8 new FM songs; and
release a newly recorded live album.
so you are right, for that we are extremely grateful to SN. hope she says no to some more FM or BN projects. :D
and yes, they can do a new album before the tour no problem, if they just decide to put an effort to it.

Lindsey Buckingham reveals Fleetwood Mac new music

If Stevie is so prolific it really shouldn't be a big deal for her to pull out two songs to match Lindsey's and make a proper EP. She may have lyrics galore laying around, but I sincerely doubt she has actual songs. She needs help with the melodies I think and maybe that's why she's tanking an EP/album. If she has all this material laying around, wouldn't she want it to get recorded and out to the public?

Exactly , that's the same impression that I got. The interviewer is a jerk, but he could at least pull off some different type of answers from them than anyone else has been able to do.

Exactly! She has poems. Not songs. I swear that is why she is holding out. The only reason IYD got made is because Dave helped her turn her journaling into songs. And I don't think she wants to be that vulnerable with Lindsey.
I really don't think she writes songs at her piano anymore. I think she just writes poems.

Lindsey played a wide variety of venues. Some with thousands, some with hundreds but all of the shows were excellent and not phoned in. I feel privileged to have gone to 10 of those shows and thank Stevie for extra touring in support of her album. If she wants to keep pushing it, I'm all for it. Lindsey solo was an amazing experience and I can't wait to see it again.
While Stevie was out doing her sprinkling of shows, Lindsey was able to play 60 dates, record material with Mick and John, record three songs for a soundtrack, and put out a live solo album. For that, I do thank Stevie because it was a great year to be a Lindsey fan.

If Stevie doesn't sit at a piano and put her poems to music anymore, what would stop her from putting those poems to a Mike Campbell or Dave Stewart track before giving them to Fleetwood Mac? It's not like she hasn't done that multiple times in the past. She doesn't need Lindsey, per se, to write the music for her songs -- even if she doesn't write it herself.
That said, the woman isn't holding out because of a lack of songs. The woman is holding out because she doesn't enjoy spending extended lengths of time in the studio with Lindsey. She's said as much in the past. It's really no great mystery.

Thanks for saying what I was thinking. I think that her writing heyday was in the 70's and that she had some inspiration in the early 90's when she was so sad. But I don't think that she is writing like she used to. Sure there have been some moments, like Katrina, wounded soldiers, and now her mother's passing, but I don't think she is writing nearly as many songs as she used to. And there nothing wrong with that, she has written some incredible songs in the past. Sure she can go through her journals, but she still needs someone to structure them into workable songs for her.
:sorry:

I really don't think the issue is Stevie not having songs. Even if she isn't writing prolifically nowadays ( and we know she has written about her mother so I don't know where that is coming from completely), she has plenty if songs in the vault.
The issue is that she didn't bing FM the songs, because he doesn't want to record the songs with FM. She wants to record them with Dave Stewart. It is not that hard to see, especially since she has pretty much said as much.
And I say this as a fan very keen on the idea of a new fM album.

No one is arguing that Stevie doesn't have lyrics/poems/journal entries, we're saying she doesn't have the melodies to go with them. Unless the songs in the vault are demos, I don't think she has songs with music/melodies.
