No presale. $120.50 including all TM fees, which makes it a smidge cheaper than the Wiltern. I wasn't sure this was going to be a public gig, so I am so relieved!!!

I'm also seeing Lindsey in Nappa Valley on the 25th so seeing both of them in the same month :] for me!!
The two night show back to back is a good time to film if something in the 1st show is not good they could use footage from the 2nd night? Just a thought?

The Mountain Winery shows will be the more conservative of the Bay Area shows. This venue appeals to the Silicon Valley crowd, so it will be a mixed bag of people; some there to see Stevie specifically and many casual/non-fans looking for a fun night out. I wouldn't be surprised if there were a bunch of Silicon Valley CEOs in the front row, maybe even Larry Ellison! There are a lot of expensive restaurants and places for wine tasting on site, so it's a different kind of concert experience, very mellow, but high-end.
It's hard to get up to this venue (literally driving up the mountains), so allow PLENTY of time for traffic. I'd suggest at least 90 minutes because I recall it being a single road for at least part of the way. Be sure to park by the entrance as it is EXTREMELY difficult to get out of the venue after the concert (this was not thought out very well). One way in, one way out. When I saw Margaret Cho there last year, it took almost an hour to exit the venue, much of time spent in the car not moving. I don't think there is any other easy way to get to this venue (e.g. public transit).
The Fillmore shows, on the other hand, will be the true rock and roll experience :) Given it's small size, it will be packed with just diehards. It's basically general admission, standing room only with very limited side seating on the first and and second levels.
I'm debating whether I'll go to the Mountain Winery show. But I'm definitely doing the Fillmore.

What do you mean "brand new venue"? That thing is old. They've been doing concerts there since 1958 and it's a historical monument that winery.
Mountain Winery was in the news last year when a concert goer jumped to his death, landing directly on the stage during a performance by The Swell Season.

Sorry, not "brand new" but extensively renovated. The concert venue looks a lot different today than it did a few years ago. By adding more seating, I think they've attracted bigger names acts, like Stevie :)

The Mountain Winery is a great venue. It can be upper crust but isn't always. I went to see the Indigo Girls there last month and the crowd was really into it, singing songs, and even standing up and dancing. I also saw Cyndi Lauper there once and the crowd was totally into it. That said, the worse crowd I've ever been a part of was when I saw the Counting Crows there. Rich silicon valley jerks who didn't care at all about music. But with the economy the way it is, there is much much less of that.
Yes, it will be hard to get in and out, but it's like that for every show. Not hard, but you just have to be patient. If you get 3 people to a car, the $20 parking fee is reduced to $15. Also, it's all uphill, so if you get there late you will be in a long line. This has been a problem for my car, which isn't a automatic. So just plan accordingly. There is no public transportation and it isn't possible to walk because the venue is on the top of a very high hill/mountain.
The Fillmore is all standing room. I guess that people will start lining up early that day. I remember that when Tori Amos played there when she was super popular, people camped out over night to buy tickets because they were only selling them at the venue. In any case, it will be a fun line to wait in, I think. I'm going to try to go to two shows, I think.
If any of you are couchsurfers, you can find me there under the name Pattyfan in San Francisco. I might be able to put 1 or 2 people up for a night or two if you are coming for the Stevie shows. Contact me through that website.
OMeffingG, this is so cool. In all my wildest dreams (Stevism used on purpose) I never thought I'd see her at the Fillmore, and the Mountain Winery, well, that's just nuts.

Wow, I had been bummed because she didnt play SF on this tour, but my faith is restored! And to play the Fillmore at that!
I have a trip to Seattle that weekend but I think I will have to fly back Sunday afternoon to make this show. This is really going to be historic, because she has talked about playing the Fillmore & going to see bands there back in the Fritz days.
The Fillmore is so intimate. I love the chandeliers that are hanging over the open floor. Also, when bands play there they usually give you a poster at the door with the artist and Fillmore date, it's really cool. I've got a nice Morrissey poster from his show there in 2007.
Thanks Stevie!!!

The Mountain Winery is in Saratoga, which is about one hour (maybe a little under an hour) south of San Francisco. If you go to both shows, you'll have to rent a car for the MW show or maybe there will be people from this website that will go who you can get a ride with. Tickets for the Fillmore show are $125 but for the MW show they range from $70 to (gulp) $250.
I think I may end up only going to one of the Fillmore shows.

I am truly mystified about these smaller, general admission shows, e.g., The Grove of Anaheim. What is really going on with this woman? Is she trying out new material? Are these dress rehearsals for the Australian tour with Dave? I love her for doing this, but the mind boggles.

I think it makes sense, really. Stevie herself knows she is no longer a huge draw so these small shows will bring in her faithful fans who are still out there & it's a win win situation. She draws a full house, gets the adoration of the people who get & appreciate her music-old and new, and she can feed off the energy.
I love that she is doing this. These are the kind of venues she should be playing now.

She is obviously still a shed/arena draw, albeit on the 4,000 - 7,000-seat scale. And if her ticket prices were lower, she could probably sell out more places. I get that it must be more fun playing these small places, but the fact remains that she is not making her usual payday. The Fillmore is about half the size of the Wiltern! But then again, this is not the first time she's done this sort of thing before- she has played the House of Blues and the Whiskey-a-Go-Go (which were both radio broadcasts). But I'm shocked that she is doing so many of these small shows. Again, I love the fact that she is doing these shows. But it's obvious that she doesn't need to. This is why I suspect there are some tricks up her gossamer wizard sleeves.

But isn't the GA thing a non-starter with Tod?
The Grove is an indoor place that can be configured for both GA and seated shows. I suspect she is doing the GA thing since the Wiltern was mostly GA.

Just an FYI...
I got on line at 12:30, more than two hours after the presale started (you had to have a password, but all you had to do to get the password was to be on Stevie's FB page, or know someone who is) and I got 1 ticket for row 5, section 1, which is smack dab in the center in the 5th row. I think because the ticket prices were sooooo steep, the demand wasn't so great. I"m not sure if I'll go or not, but I'm sure that I"ll be able to find a buyer if I need to, so at least this way I have the option. Anyone else going??? :) Should we do a Stevie pre-show meet up? I know a great South Indian restaurant about 25 minutes from the venue where it would be easy to get a table and the food is super yummy and super cheap. The restaurants that I've tried in downtown Saratoga (it's a little town with a very small downtown) are not so great and very overpriced.

These are the exact reasons she could have done UK/European dates at places like the Carling Academy, Shepherds Bush Empire, The Lowry, Usher Hall.. like Lindsey is doing. Smaller venues - somewhere where she has a small (but not as small as she seems to think) yet devoted fanbase who are desperate for shows and would sell out every one... I had thought that she just didn't want to play smaller venues and so that's why she only ever played US and Australasia but this shows that that isn't the reason. Oh well...

Dave's influence? First he makes her sit in the same room as him to write a song together, THEN he records her during the making of the album with a home video camera, THEN he gets her to ride a tour bus again. Next thing you know, she'll be waitressing part time again. ;)

No, you won't need a password for the tickets that go on sale Friday. You only need a password for the Mountain Winery pre-sale, which I believe ends Thursday, Sept 8 at 9 PM. PST. Good luck :)

The Fillmore boxoffice is ONLY open on Sunday mornings, so the only way to get tickets today is on line. I"m not sure if they keep tickets to sell in person or not. I don't think that they do. Buying from the box office is a nice option because you don't have to pay service charges, but with something like this, I don't think it will work. I guess if you try to get tickets today but can't, you can try going Sunday morning. It opens at 10 am, so I'd get there around 8 am to wait in line. Good luck everyone. :)

I'm guessing the airport, which isn't in SF proper, is about 20 miles south of the venue. Renting a car may be the only option...I don't remember if there's a BART station at the airport.
As for a hotel...I don't believe inexpensive and San Francisco go together.

There is a BART station at SFO. Oakland Airport is actually closer and is also accessible via BART.

I am not sure why you are so fixated on the proximity of airports to the Fillmore. You're not going to walk to the Fillmore from the terminal. Both SFO and OAK are well connected to the city via different modes of public and private transportation. At the end of the day, it's six or one half dozen. Regardless of where you fly in, you will be between 30 minutes and an hour away from downtown San Francisco depending on the mode of transportation employed. If you are expecting to catch a flight after the show, by all means go for it, but you will need to hurry no matter what.
All hotels are safe and none will kill you. The only difference really is in the views, decor and amenities. You will find bed bugs in budget motels as well as the Four Seasons. San Francisco is relatively safe for a large city; however, it is probably a good idea to stay out of the Tenderloin/Civic Center area at night if you are really skittish. Market Street is safe but noisy and congested. South of Market (SoMa) is "up and coming." The vast majority of hotels appear to be concentrated around the Union Square/Nob Hill area, which is a bit of a jog to the Fillmore. The closest hotels to the Fillmore appear to be in Japantown, particularly the Nikko, the Kabuki and the Best Western Tomo, none of which are exactly cheap. Sites like bookit.com may provide some savings on flight/hotel packages. Also keep in mind that October is the warmest month of the year in SF, and is also primetime for tourism in SF.

Both airports (SFO and Oakland) are about the same distance from the Fillmore and you can take BART from both to the Civic Center BART station. I guess you'll be going to a hotel first. If you stay in a hotel somewhere downtown, it will be easy to get on BART. From there you can take a bus or even walk to the Fillmore (it would probably be about a 30 minute walk). If you are going to rent a car, definitely fly into SFO just because you won't have to cross a bridge. Traffic on the Bay Bridge can be really heavy at times. San Jose airport, which is sometimes also listed with other Bay Area airports, is much farther away. Also, if you fly into SFO, you can take Super Shuttle directly to your hotel for I think 20 bucks. BART to the city will be around 8 bucks.
I don't know much about hotels. Like the other person said, I'd stay out of the Tenderloin. If you want, if you use Expedia or something and want to send me 2 or 3 choices, I can check them out for you and tell you what I think. If you want to talk, let me know and I"ll send you my cell number. :)

After seeing Stevie at Caesar's Palace in her over (self ) hyped 05' extravaganza show  and again this last May. I told myself I am never traveling to Vegas to see Stevie again!! Not to bash Vegas, but to bash Vegas:p It's just not my cup of tea! Everything is wayyyyyy overpriced for what you receive, It's always a total clusterf**k on the strip, and more & more its becoming The Hangover meets Rocky Horror Picture Show, vapid, drunk, campy and plastic. And while I'm at it, Caesar's Colosseum is way overrated as a venue imo. Thank Gawd she is playing Hard Rock this time, at least it will probably feel more like a rock concert! But I still detest everything Vegas. Now, in another life if I'ma professional successful poker player, I may be persuaded to enjoy myself a wee bit more. just sayin'.

Tonight I was thinking about these upcoming small venue shows and had a thought. I think there's a good chance Stevie will add back, or even add different new songs for these new shows. I base that on the experience and feedback she got from performing 8 of them at The Wiltern, and it too being a small venue. I'm thinking they might be thinking that since these are small venues, there will likely be more die-hard fans there, making it more comfortable to do more of her her NEW stuff.
I hope I'm right! :blob2:

If she does I am so happy for everyone that's going. You seriously should try to sneak in some video footage because I'm sure this is gonna be a memorable event! I'm really hoping that she is able to do some more of her new songs live because there are so many that she could do with her voice and everything. I honestly think she should just do a smaller venues tour across the country and do more of her new songs. It would be such a good way for her to get ALL of the new songs out there.

Seriously all I can think of is Ghiradelli chocolate and sourdough bread (which I must admit is pretty dang good). Is there a such thing as California cuisine anymore? I thought that was a very 1990s phenomenon. To me it seemed basically like Italian food without the red sauce.

OMG, seriously?? SF has some of the best food in the country! SF is known for the many wonderful neighborhood places that serve some of the most amazing food anywhere-some which is sourced locally.
Frances, L'Ardoise, NOPA, Commonwealth, Range, Bar Agricole, Delfina, A16, Cotogna, and those are just the ones off the top of my head.
And I am not even talking about the cocktail culture and wine here.
For all you wonderful people coming to the shows at the Fillmore, make sure you eat at some of the wonderful places SF has to offer!

Dude, calm down. The question was what SF was known for. That's not to say that SF doesn't have good eateries; EVERY city has good restaurants! Rather, it's about what is unique about this particular city, e.g., cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, bagels in NYC, Legal Seafood in Boston, etc. And how could anyone who grew up in the 1970s not remember those ubiquitous Rice-a-roni commercials? Tongue firmly planted in cheek, dude.
