Exactly my feelings in the thread I just posted...I'm sorry, but I'm seriously bummed out still and this is NOT making anything any easier. What about the East Coast Stevie? I feel like this confirms that nothing will be rescheduled now :(

NOT OKAY!!!!!

WHYYYYY can't her show be on the east coast? FRAMMIT.
(Yeah, I'll try to be happy for the west coasters, but I'm still bitter about Webster)

Depending on when it is (not sure whether it's her actual birthday?) I might try to go, but the chances are slim...

Well one could argue that the entire Webster Hall show was unfair for West Coast fans.

Good for Stevie, and good for the fans on the West Coast who never would have been able to make the Webster Hall gig, even if it had gone on as scheduled.

I understand your point but we were locked, loaded and ready to go and had the rug pulled out from us at the last minute. Had Webster never come into play to begin with, yes, we'd all be jealous of the west coasters, but much less so.

Yeah I lost $300 on it but I know others lost a lot more. It makes it kind of hard to justify a trip to CA. Although the Stevie freak in me really wants to just go. I've never been to LA, what an excuse!

I was literally just there, less than a week ago. I love it there and would move there if it was in the cards now. But, it's on a Thurs night. I can't swing ANOTHER 2 days off of work this month. Had it been next month maybe. Ugh...oh well.

Don't get me wrong, I do feel awful for everyone who had tickets for Webster...I really, really do.

But the first reaction I'm seeing out of a lot of people (and I'm not singling you out, because I don't think you have) responding with anger that there is a show scheduled for the West Coast, and I don't think that's fair to the fans who are never able to make it to the East, which tends to get favored in the touring department. Or for people to say that it's not fair that she's doing a show in LA...that's silly.

Hell, I live in Ohio. Talk about being in the center of disappointmentville.

i've never been to LA either so it's an excellent double excuse but.........

WHY SHE GOTTA BE ALL FANCY AND DO A SHOW ON HER DAMN BDAY?! Y CAN'T SHE JUST TELL HER FRIENDS TO DROP BY THE HOUSE, DO A POTLUCK, GET SOME CUPCAKES, CHIT CHAT AND THEN GO TO BED!? Y IS IT NECESSARY FOR HER TO GRACE A STAGE, AT AN INTIMATE VENUE, WITHOUT ME THERE AND SING ALL THE DAMN SONGS THAT I WANTED TO HEAR AT WEBSTER HALL?!

I know your point wasn't personal. It's just that this just seems like salt in the wounds for those of us that were going to Webster and here, less than a week after it was canceled, she reschedules the outing but 3000 miles away. Just hard to swallow at first thought. That's all I'm trying to say. And for me personally, I was just in LA, so it bothers me even more cause there's really no way for me to swing going back there in 2 weeks.

I'm ecstatic for those on the west coast who can go and those who can travel to go. I'm just dissapointed for myself. Especially since we have heard NADA about any other tour dates this year except for the 3 already scheduled on the west coast next week.

Anyway, hopefully in few mos from now we will all have a few Stevie shows this year under our belts.

LA is a 2 hour plane ride for me at around $200. The ticket, if at all like Webster, will be around $100. My best friend lives there so I won't have to pay for anything else.

Only 300 ****ing dollars and I'm sure I can't go because I owe my dad.

For me, it's not about being "jealous of west coasters" or feeling anger towards those who have the opportunity to go ... I live in Indiana, spent close to $2000 for the Webster Hall show... A once in a lifetime thing... I have been a Stevie fan for 30 years, and just knew this show would be everything we had waited for... it was crushing to have it canceled (I know she couldn't help being ill) BUT! If I am truthful, the birthday show is kind of like rubbing salt in an open wound... I know Stevie doesn't owe me (or anyone else for that matter) anything... her words and music are gift enough... but this is... I don't know... it has just kind of deflated me when I read the email. I want to be happy about it for all of those able to attend... but selfishly, even though I had a GREAT time in New York City, I feel a bit let down.

Very true, not everyone is able to travel from coast to coast so easily. I'm sure this event would be happening whether Webster was cancelled or not, and I really don't think it's to make up it at all. I'm not disagreeing that Webster being cancelled was like a kick in the stomach to those who were going, I would have been upset at the time too but I wouldn't go as far to say that it's unfair for this event to happen because of a previous show being cancelled.

If the show at The Webster had never been scheduled, the fact that she is doing this new show would not have bothered me at all. Stevie is only human and I am not upset with her at all for BEING human and getting sick at an unfortunate time that caused The Webster and The Borgata shows to be cancelled.

What I am upset about is the timing of this new show with the recent cancellation of The Webster. I understand scheduling wise it probably works best for Stevie to do something on the West coast this month. But this is not what you do after you release a press statement that you, "hope to reschedule," and then reschedule The Webster show "in disguise" now as Stevie's birthday party across the country.

Where are you getting that this is the Webster show "in disguise"? I think it's entirely possible that this show could have been planned all along, to coincide with the East Coast Webster show. Makes sense to me...have a fan gathering on the east, then a few weeks later, have one on the west.

Anybody else have a sneaking suspicion this show is going to be filmed (at least partially) for Stevie's documentary on the making of IYD? That's the main reason I can see her rescheduling something like this. I disagree. They wouldn;t have 2 of the same kind of show. I think this is the new Webster intimate venue show that was planned for NY and is now being planned for LA. I would wager that Webster will never happen, especially now that this LA show is in the works. I had tickets for Webster and was looking forward to something special. I used to live in LA and there are intimate shows that pop up all of the time. Having something like Webster in NY was going to be a real one in a lifetime situation.

The thing is (logically speaking) if she were going to make up for the Webster Hall show which would have taken place on the east coast, why would she make up for it on the opposite coast? That's why I think it was already planned in advance, because it really wouldn't make sense at all to do it that way. I would imagine she realizes it's not possible for everyone to coast hop for events like these.

I felt REALLY bad for you guys that had arrangements/tickets to Webster Hall. Living on the West Coast, however, it was impossible for me to go. It's also why I missed the Barnes and Noble DVD signing. She never did one of those out here. It is possible that she will still reschedule the Webster Hall show though- it's not like her show schedule is all booked up. I'd say there is still hope for Webster Hall.

As for me, this email about the birthday show took me by total surprise! I live about 2 1/2 hours away, so I would need some time off work. I wish it wasn't on a thursday night. I'm going to see if I can make it happen though.

Where are you getting that this is the Webster show "in disguise"? I think it's entirely possible that this show could have been planned all along, to coincide with the East Coast Webster show. Makes sense to me...have a fan gathering on the east, then a few weeks later, have one on the west.

Webster Hall was planned first and tickets were on-sale and sold before they ever had a LA plan. I asked about LA in mid-April because I was on the guest list for Webster. I was told that LA "might" happen if they could find a date that worked with all the press and TV appearances in May. I found out about the LA booking over the weekend. The show is May 26...

Did it say anywhere that it's on the 26th, or are we just guessing? Wasn't Miley's "sweet 16 birthday bash" (or whatever it was called) like 3 months away from the actual day?

I'm desperately hoping it's actually the 28th. I just can't miss work and school to be there on a Thursday *sigh*

I'm sort of surprised that it is finally happening, but I had heard since before Webster was officially announced that there were going to be these gigs in both NYC and in LA. I don't think she's just throwing something together, I think it has been planned for quite some time, but just like Webster, they waited until just weeks before the show to announce it.

It would at least be nice for them to honor some of the tickets from Webster though, just incase she doesn't reschedule it.

I know exactly how you feel  Being also a devout fan for over 30 years having just spent a good amount of $ for the NY show. This feels Sh**ty :sorry:
Last night I just tallied up all my travel receipts towards the NYC Webster Hall gig (including airfare, hotel, meals, etc.) and it totaled @$25oo.00 for a "special event" that was cancelled just as I was touching down in LaGuardia Airport by way of Denver, Colorado.:distress:
If I hadn't just blown that much cash, I would sooooooo be at this LA "intimate Bday performance". So this is nothing against West Coast vs East Coast. I feel the most for those of us who traveled from states outside NY - this is like rubbing salt in an open wound.:(

But Hurrah for those lucky enough to attend, because I am seriously & bitterly jealous

Anybody else have a sneaking suspicion this show is going to be filmed (at least partially) for Stevie's documentary on the making of IYD? That's the main reason I can see her rescheduling something like this. She's never really thrown us fans a bone like this before (an intimate setting, her star friends stopping in to sing/play with her, etc)... why start now?

Whether or not this is a true replacement for Webster, anything that might be done in NY later will be anti-climatic since the real first semi-intimate show is in LA. Especially if there are special guests that come, which is likely since most of these musicians live on the west coast. The Wiltern is not an intimate venue to me, at least not on the same lines as something like Webster which really has a club feel to it.

I wonder if aol users will be allowed to get a code this time. Otherwise, beware and use another email address to receive the code!

That's what Webster was going to be... 100% general admission.

I don't think I'd go unless I had a seat in the first 5 rows OR it was general admission. Because of it's general admission, I can guarantee myself a front row spot by getting there at the crack of dawn.

UGH!!! I literally just landed from Chicago, finally getting home from the failed NYC trip and got the text message about this show! I'm so torn. I want to go, but I haven't even recovered from all the money I lost on the hotel and stuff from the webster show. I'm such a sucker for cool shows though. What's a little more debt? lol Oh Stevie, why do you torture us?

Edit: Apparently I should have checked airfare prices before I typed. Holy crap have they gone up since I last priced bna-lax!!!!!! Well, looks like I'm out. If only I hadn't lost all that money on the webster show, maybe I could afford this. Yes, I'm still bitter. It's only been a week. :(

r u going? y do i feel like you're going? you're going aren't you?

Child, please. Like you had to ask. ;) Well, I gotta get tickets first...

The sad part? I spent 18 bucks on booze. And I almost died.

Who says you can't good value for the money in New York City? :p

Watching you lose your sh*t was hilarious, though. I would've bought you a drink just for the comedic factor

Is there any footage? I think I missed out.
I have an exam tomorrow that I'm totally unprepared for (if any experts want to brief me on contemporary Native American art, that'd be great), and I'm too depressed to study. I'm drinking a glass of red alone in my room, listening to my most melancholy Fleetwood Mac songs.
It's a great picture, really.

ETA: I do realize that people who traveled for Webster have it way worse than I do. I'm just being pissy.

I can actually see you doing this. Your hair is tied back, you're wearing your most unflattering glasses and you're hunched over a little and you're pouting with your wine-stained lips. Am I right?

Ed, I need a hug (((()))) but vodka always soothes my tortured soul
btw, I have a fantastic picture that Shawn snapped of us :)
I WANT my Maracas Ledgies right now! I need a horrifying, rip faced karaoke Stevie sing a long about right now:laugh: The rooms were ablaze, there was magic all around us:xoxo:

Extra big bear hug for you Christopher! :xoxo: Hope you don't mind that I just got back from the gym and I'm soo gamey. Would love to see the pic! Via PM please... I can't bear the site of me on these pages.

I was looking at the Wiltern's seating chart. It appears that some shows are set up with seats and some shows are general admission. I wonder how they'll set this one up?

I certainly hope it's GA! What kind of a lame-ass birthday party has assigned seating?

Is there anyone with connections who could find out if Webster Hall is being rescheduled, before I buy a ticket for LA? I'm sure the birthday show will be amazing, but I really only need to see one special show...and I'll really be kicking myself if I fly to California, only to find out that NYC is back on.

Just read through this whole thread - I was on the LA-ers who just couldn't make Webster Hall work financially and in the middle of the week so I got tickets to Indio on Friday instead. I really hope NY people get something since it seems all the east coast shows were rescheduled but I'm incredibly excited about the Wiltern. Maybe if they do General Admission we can set up some sort of line waiting schedule (then we can begin two days early no problem).

How anticlimactic for those of us who were to be at the Webster Hall show...I will be surprised if she does this and does not reschedule something for NYC.

I have miles to go before I sleep. A shot list, prop list, blah blah blah for a very important shoot this weekend.

However, I want to take this special moment to tell a little story that is very apropos
for this Webster Hall cancellation/LA intimate show replacement hoo ha.

For all long term ledgies that may have heard it before (Jake, Niki, Suze, Livia, Jannie, David, et. al, you know who you are), I apologize for repeating it.

Picture it : 1982. Baby Sparky. 16 years old. Buys tickets over the phone to an October show in Oakland on the very limited Mirage tour. It is the closest town they are coming to Baby Sparky's home town of Portland Oregon. Plane tickets bought. THROUGH TRAVEL AGENT. Cause that's how we rolled in 1982. Baby Sparky is going to concert with Stevie Nicks lookalike girlfriend, complete with top hat, roses in her hair, and staying with said girlfriend's father in Oakland. I think the date was 10/3/82. First time on a plane!

Keep in mind, B Sparky is working almost full time in a nursing home doing laundry (don't even think about it, the reality is worse than the visual) and mopping floors and going to High School and acting in plays and being a track runner and all that. This is how Sparky saved all the money for this trip. About 500-600 bucks if memory serves. Would likely be much more money today.

So, lookalike GF and B Sparky arrive in Oakland. Dad and Stepmom are welcoming, have a fab home on the hill in the good part of Oakland. Yes there is a good part of Oakland. There was in 1982 anyway. They take us to lunch.

We listen to the radio on the way home from lunch and we hear it: Tonight's Fleetwood Mac concert is cancelled due to the illness of Stevie Nicks.

WTF?

We were furious and hysterical. The weekend was not to be recovered.
Tears and consternation and gnashing of teeth ensued.

Once we got home, I literally ripped up the Stevie pictures that lined my locker.
I still wish I had those. The Glamour magazine shot I had stolen from the library! Concert photos I had bought from Dorian Boese through the back pages of Goldmine! Agh! The treasures!

I was done. In the way that only a 16 year old Stevie fan dude could be done.
Heartbroken. Betrayed. Dream shattered. Fill in the blanks.

As is common, the show was rescheduled later that month. I think it was the 16th.
In the interim, my bike was stolen. The bike I rode to the horrible nursing home job that financed the trip. To this day I have no idea how I came up with the money to buy another plane ticket to go back, but I did. I always had more money stashed away somewhere. From my job, mowing lawns, picking up stray bottles. Some things never change. Sparky always stashes money for rainy days. Like a squirrel burying nuts for winter. My parents did not give me a penny. There was no pot of money to pull from. I raided some buried nut pile somewhere as I seem to remember that it cost another 162 dollars for another plane ticket. I remember riding the bus into downtown Portland to unload yet another pocketful of cash to the travel agent for yet another plane ticket. The GF was out. She had a dance concert or something. I was on my own.

So back I went. The parents of the GF let me stay with them AGAIN, and drove me to the show and picked me up. How cool were they? I will never forget them. Cy and Helene. A lawyer and a professor. I waited from 2pm onward at the Oakland Coliseum. Heard the sound check. Met another girl in a top hat and flowers. Big surprise, right? Had a ticket in the 16th row or so. We got stoned. We ran up to the stage at the end. I saw SOTM and Landslide 5 feet from Stevie's brown suede boots. She had on a pink skirt with a metallic silver flower pattern. The lights flashed off of it. And the velvet button up jacket with that rick rack trim. The famous Tusk bolero jacket. At the encore, Stevie grabbed the pink rose off her mic stand and tossed it into the crowd. Somehow or another, I caught it. It traveled back to Portland with me in my trusty backpack from my Cub Scout days. The one that my Mom bought with S & H green stamps. I took it to school with me for a week. Today it is still remains, brittle with age and pressed into the pages of my 1982 HS yearbook.

I later found out that the show was cancelled because Robin had died.

The moral of the story? Sh*t always works out in the end, folks.

I am not telling this story to tragedy trump anyone. It is just something odd, sad, and ultimately charmed that happened to another lifelong Stevie fan. Somehow or another, if you are persistent, everything falls into place. In the ensuing years, and I am thankful for my age for this, I have been to tons of shows...Stormy Weather (both), AZ Heart institute, Sydney in the front row for free, HOB New Years shows,
Roxbury SA Show, the SIR TISL private show. Met her a few times and talked. I could go on. I am not gloating. It is just the magic and serendipity that comes from following her. I have no idea how it happens. Persistence. Being in the right place at the right time. Having good friends. Being in show business. Who knows?

I am sad for the people who missed Webster. I have been there. Clearly.

But stick with it everyone. You will have your dream shows.

As long as you stick it out and as long as you and Stevie still walk this mortal coil.

You will make lifelong friends. Shout out to Meredith and Clayre and Stace and Marisa and Anna and Salvatore and my most beloved Hos. And my dearly missed Bruce.

And damn right I will be at that Wiltern show. Will be like show number 40 or so. I lost count. Too many ticket stubs to count. I hope it is the best one yet.

Maybe I will see some of you there.

For real. Even 3 weeks notice would have helped. The reason I most likely will not be able to get it together for this trip is the airfare cost. Last minute and about double the distance over NYC.

I try to have faith that things will work out in the end, but honestly I have just had really crappy luck with anything working out since I graduated. It just keeps getting worse. I know Debbie downer blah blah blah.

This is why I usually purchase the travel insurance for 10 bucks or whatever so if in the event I can't go on the trip, I can use it later or re-book another trip. This would save you on all costs except for the concert tickets themselves which I'd imagine they'd be refunded anyway. Hope this helps

I drempt about this stuff all night last night, at least while I was sleeping. It was hard to sleep.

I'm hoping the tickets aren't too expensive. You never know with the LA venues. The Heart and Soul tickets for hollywood bowl were more expensive than any other venue on the tour for some reason. The top tier TM price for tomorrow's New Mexico casino show is $75, and the same show the following saturday for Vega$ is $175!!

The first item on my agenda to make the LA show happen for me is to check my work schedule. If someone else has that day off I may have to come down with some type of illness.... ;)

Pretty much. Teeth that special red-wine-gray, hoping the fam wouldn't knock on my door and compel me to explain that I was that upset about a Stevie concert. It's a great version of me, and I'm honored that you "can see me doing it";). I like to think I put out a vibe of "I sometimes drink alone over Stevie Nicks related disappointments."
I'm really going to earn myself a "together" rep around here, between this and Maracas, huh?:woohoo:

Ah, anyway, I feel pretty ridiculous for being so whiny. Blame it on a week of almost no sleep? (Grrr, exams. Done in 9 hours!)

And my dearly missed Bruce.

I miss him terribly! Especially now, with all the Stevie excitement. LOVED re-living your Mirage story w/ you Sparky! FWIW (pun intended), I have also been victim to a cancelled show that I flew out of town to attend (Behind the Mask tour, Stevie got sick).

My first cancelled show was also on the Mirage tour, in Austin. But at least I was living here and didn't lose airfare or other travel expenses. The plus side to that was the rescheduled date ending up being on Halloween - and Stevie came onstage in a witch's hat!

I think Pip and Louise have us all beat on losing airfare money (across the pond).

The show is General Admission downstairs - Reserved Upstairs!

So no assigned seating on the floor? 1st come 1st served?
Just checked this place, seat's 1850 people, it look's huge, not too intimate?

what a mess.

richardb - are you going?

I think so. You?

I've been to the Wiltern with split shows, GA and Reserved and actually I find that no matter where you are, it's a good seat.

However, The Pit area is not guaranteed even if you have GA. The Pit is the closest you'll get to the stage at The Wiltern.

There are 2 prices on live nation.
102.50
38.50
I have no idea what price pertains to what sections.

More specifically...
US $38.50 Ticket + US $12.50 Fees = US $51.00
US $102.50 Ticket + US $18.25 Fees = US $120.75

I would *assume* that the more expensive tickets are for reserved seating. That's usually how it works.

ETA

I still don't know if this is going to be partially GA.

jkmaletic

Ok. Here's the lowdown.

$102.50 is general admission floor
$38.50 is upstairs seating

I called and asked how early people line up outside and she said it varies by the performer. Some people have lined up 2 days before a show! She said the average though is about 4 pm the day of the show. She suggested for Stevie to come check it out that morning then kind of feel it out. She said Stevie might have an older crowd versus a younger band so the line may not be as bad, but you can never tell for sure.

Hope that helps. I'm driving up from san diego so I'll probably get there around 10 and check it out.

I have seriously thought about getting you one, you do deserve it!! But if there is no assigned seating its not a matter of getting a good seat right? Or are you just affraid there going to sell out?

And, what if someone got you a ticket and you dont go? Then that "person" would be stuck with a extra ticket? Work with me here!!

Oh, if it's general admission I definitely want to go and get there at 9AM to camp out. That was my plan for Webster Hall and that's gonna be my plan if I go to this show.

Well, if this show is anything like Webster Hall (which, as far as we know, it is), the tickets are going to sell out unbelievably fast. I'm sure there will be Ledgies without tickets who will be scrambling to find one. Plus, there's always StubHub which is really easy to use, especially when you get your ticket via PDF.

OMG, I'm crying right now. I'm supposed to go to Chicago the day of the show. I'm only five minutes away from the Wiltern!!! And what's worse, MY birthday is the 28th! Stevie and I could have celebrated our birthdays together. :(

I've seen her five times solo and three with FM and have never had anything but nosebleed seats. I couldn't go when she did the House of Blues shows back in 2000 (I think) which would have been amazing. And now a show like this is such a small venue. I can't even imagine how incredible it would be. I just want to be in the same room with her for once in my life. And I can't even afford to change my flight until Friday. Hell, I can't even afford the buy the tickets tomorrow. You guys have no idea how depressed I am over this. :(

Can any Los Angelinos help me out? I think I'm going to try to go if the timing works out for the return trip, but the last direct flight for New York leaves LAX at 11:40PM. If I get a car service and leave directly from the venue, how long do you think it would take to get to the airport?

Also, do we know what time Stevie's going on? 8 or 9? And how long do you think her set would be? I'm fine missing the end, but would hate to travel that far and miss, like, the entire last hour.
