Hey all, this past week has been crazy- and I've really been sick. But, I recall some point last week us saying that in a week we were expecting some sort of video preview of something. I don't remember what it was or when we were supposed to be getting it, but I just I'd check, because I know someone out there know!!! :)

There was talk of the Secret Love video debuting this week. Warner has postponed the trailer from Stevie's documentary indefinitely. We'll see if we actually get a video this week of Secret Love, though... I have my doubts.

Last monday Dave sent a tweet that Warners wanted to delay the preview/trailer so they went to work on editing the Secret Love video. Stevie showed the trailer/"sizzle reel" to a lucky group of industry peeps this weekend at the Sunset Sessions radio industry gig-fans who saw it said it was very cool and that it captured Stevie's world:)
Sunday Dave updated Stevie fans saying the "Secret Love video is just being tweaked now it's extracted from parts of the movie as many others will be , very cool looking". So hopefully we will be seeing that by weeks end.

I suspect we wont be seeing the trailer till sometime after the video premieres.

Yeah, but on a positive note I think things are just beginning to pick up...In 2 short weeks we will really be in the home stretch of promotion for IYD.

RS writer Dave Wild just tweeted "Writing something now for Stevie Nicks. Having trouble keeping my inner 12-year-old desperately in love with her between the lines". Hopefully it's for a feature in an upcoming RS issue!

Dave hasn't tweeted much of anything in the last 3 days. I'm hoping it's because he's busy editing Secret Love/documentary stuff. But yes, I also thought we were going to get to see the video this week, as he tweeted three weeks ago that we'd get to see it in "three weeks". Maybe Warners has a hold over what he can share with us. At this point, since we haven't heard nor seen anything (at least those of us who didn't get to go to the Industry show) I'm betting that's the case. Warners has the final say of when everything is released.

I'm not holding my breath over seeing anything this week.

Yeah, I still think the SL vid could possibly turn up by this weekend. But if not, then surely after all the Oscar hoopla that is driving the entertainment news this week. An early March video release seems like a fresh way to kick off the new month of promotion for IYD;). Then a few weeks later they can unleash the trailer.....but I WANT IT NOW~!

They may be waiting until closer to the tour starting on the 20th of March. Stevie's getting really great promo now with all of these radio interviews for the tour, and they're actually playing her song!

Lindsey Buckingham Guests on Stevie Nicks' "In Your Dreams"Wed, 23 Feb 2011

Stevie Nicks will release her first solo album in a decade on May 3rd. It's called In Your Dreams and her former Fleetwood Mac bandmate and ex-lover Lindsey Buckingham appears on the song, "The Soldier's Angel."

Nicks told VH1 that "it's very serious, it's a song that I wrote about Walter Reed that's called 'Soldier's Angel.' So Lindsey came in and played guitar. It's just Lindsey and me. It's very Buckingham Nicks and I think that it's going to be a very serious and important song to the world and I think it's a very serious and important song for Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks because it sounds like Buckingham Nicks. Because it is."

The smoky voiced singer also said about Buckingham that "it's just him playing guitar and me and he sings with me on the choruses. And it's ominous. It's an ominous song and his voice lent even more ominousity to the whole thing. So I think the world will be really knocked back when they hear 'Soldier's Angel' and I'm really excited for them to hear that."

Are you excited to hear "Soldier's Angel" for the reunion of Buckingham and Nicks?

ok, I like the carnival feel for this and I like the young girls. The one with the trees tells me this is going to be very atmospheric. I'm thinking this is sorta going to be like the Deep Dish video.

I have to say that I really liked the Everyday video and really loved the Sorcerer video. She has been doing better videos now then in the 80s. The only video I loved back then was Gypsy. The others were weird and the Rooms on Fire video looked cheap, like an economy video.

I hope this video is good, but Stevie better be in the video, at least as a fortune teller.

It looks like Stevie to me, but it very well could be someone else. For some reason I get the idea that there will a clip of Stevie twirling and sometimes when she turns around, it will be her and then the next time it will be the young girl.

I am also loving the atmosphere of these clips! However, the "young Stevie" could really make or break the video. I love the idea of a younger Stevie, or even a Stevie like girl being portrayed in the video, but teeter a little bit in the wrong way and it can look more satirical than enchanting. In Terminator Salvation, they were able to use someone's body and digitally put Arnold Schwarzenegger's face on the body for the scene since he did not do an actual cameo in the movie and it was pretty neat. It would have been kick ass if they could have made a "young Stevie" with Stevie's actual likeness.

I don't know. It looks like the same girl to me. Same hair, same color. The lighting is a little different because the shot is farther, but I'm pretty sure it's that girl.

Glen was a glorified roadie who became Stevie's assistant and I think briefly acted as her manager during the klonopin haze. He was her guinea pig for her experimental pill dosage test to see if her shrink was trying to kill her.

I'm sorry to say that I watch Fashion Police with Joan Rivers. They show photos of celebrities, mostly to critique the fashion. However, they have a segment called "Guess me from behind," where you try to guess who the celebrity is without seeing their face.

Be it her arm, legs, head, silhouette, I have a feeling that all of us would be pretty good at guessing Stevie from behind, if they gave us a line up of people and never showed any of their faces.

One of the things I liked during the SYW tour was during NGBA, when Stevie was not singing on the chorus at the beginning, she'd be in the corner getting dressed for Rhiannon and she was fully visible to the audience as her assistant put on her long black sleeved covering. You could see her bare arms and I was struck by the lack of modesty there. True, the spotlight was not on her and she was in the semi-darkness, but there was no shield up. It was like she was getting dressed in open view. I always found that kind of intimate and charming.

Dave just tweeted screenshots from the video:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn92/trufan70/sn/snscreenshotsnewvideo.jpg

Upon further contemplation of Dave's Secret Love screen shots, they left me intrigued but a little scared at the same time. This video could look completely cheap or may be beyond our wildest dreams. The verdict is still out. But these are my observations based on what Dave has revealed so far.

I do love the 1st shot featuring Stevie's spectral aura in front of what appears to be a circus-style drop screen. I would be loving the 2nd shot with the misty ominous forest more if Stevie were featured within it. Which brings me to the 3rd screen cap (which is the most concerning) of which I like to refer to as a Stevie-bot - trying desperately to capture a thimbleful of the potency & enchanting spirit of La Nicks. Somebody should have told Dave and his crew that simply wearing Stevie's vintage Rumours gossamer does not illicit the same magnetism or response. And the fact that she bares no resemblance to Stevie is further distracting, unless they set out to feature cross-cultural sisters of the moon:laugh:.

The last 2 screen shots in particular remind me of Deep Dish's video for "Dreams" which featured a young Stevie-ish actress. IMO A video full of aberrations of Stevie is not what I want to see featured in Stevie's 1st music video in a decade. The imagery is interesting but lets hope the execution is skillful not caricatural.

If you look carefully, the outline of Mini-Stevie in the third shot can be seen in the first shot, which leads me to believe that there is a transition from Stevie to Mini-Stevie while she is in mid-twirl. It seems like an intriguing concept... Mini-Stevie back in the day was a wayward little gypsy in a traveling show, but now the elder gypsy is the show and even wears the ringmaster's tophat to prove it. So perhaps Mini-Stevie's secret love was a clown... or perhaps the bearded lady?

That would be so great. You could have current Stevie make the same movements, so as to match the old footage with the new. But digitally, that might cost too much. I'm sure they don't have a big budget to work with.

They could have found someone who like remotely resembled Stevie hahaha. Also, young Stevie generally had bangs and her hair wasn't board straight like that.... that would have been an easy fix to make it look more like her, imo.

No, not picturing that sort of montage exactly - more of the "Rhiannon" wailing- chiffon-wearing - twirling Stevie's of old intermingled with current twirling Stevie as Michele described above.

I think it'll be hard to get excited about this video, no matter how beautiful or creative, if there's not plenty of Stevie in it! I'm reminded of Elton John's more recent videos -- This Train Don't Stop There Anymore is a good example, where Justin Timberlake portrayed a young Elton, and I Want Love with Robert Downey Jr lipsynching. Both beautiful videos, but Elton's absence was a real pity. I think I'd feel that even more with Stevie, particularly given the beautiful promo photos we've seen.

But it's hard to make a judgement from three screenshots. This could go very well indeed. More waiting! ;)

But seriously, the problem is they gave us the single WAY TO EARLY (Jan.13th)! And haven't thrown us a bone since. On the brighter side of things, given that this video actually debuts in the next week or so, this will be a FIRST in Stevie's career - to get a promotional video out months or weeks before her album drops.:shocked::shocked:

I've almost lost all interest in this album, Lady Gaga already has a single and video out, with another video for Born This Way coming and another single. Britney has a single and video out, with another single coming. She needs to step it up before she loses what little excitement the public has, because without us she won't sale very many at all.

If the darn thang doesn't debut by this weekend. I'm going to speculate that they are strategically planning to unveil it next tuesday, when the Glee "landslide" episode airs. Any internet searchs that may spark from that exposure will lead many to Stevie's new video/project.

'Young Stevie' doesn't really even look like young Stevie... it looks more like current Stevie minus 35 years and a few dozen pounds. I think it's just the hair that throws me off.

Why do people assume this is supposed to be "young stevie"? It seems like stevie could be like a fairy godmother type character to all these girls in the video. ALSO, I thought this vid was supposed to be "documentary"like. All the forests of myst, white horse, top hat and sleeves, carnival, random chick ness is throwing me off. either that or "documentary" doesn't mean what i think it means  So im guessing this is one of the "Dreamscapes" ? You have GOT to be kidding! There are plenty of times when it's painfully obvious she has arthritis. But, what the hell - so do most people her age. She's not wearing them to be stylish because guess what - it ain't!!

There is nothing wrong with suspecting she has arthritis. What I have a problem with is everyone assuming she has such crippling arthritis that she cannot function without wearing braces and/or he wrists and arms are severely maimed looking, therefore she is constantly covering them. Her "swollen hands" were only pictured in one photo and the ENTIRE Unleashed tour? Lies. Stevie may have arthritis, but she can apparently survive without wearing her gloves and if she didn't think they were stylish she wouldn't be wearing them in her video... but, as you were... :wavey:

Rheumatoid arthritis is pretty bad, but it doesn't mean people don't live with it. I know someone who's mother had every joint in her body replaced. Anyway, no one said Stevie couldn't survive without wearing the braces or gloves - but people have good days and bad days. I'm not sure that's something that could be protected or scheduled around a video shoot...

And, I've seen a ton more photos of her hands swollen - for years. It's not something she developed overnight if my calculation is correct.

It's just an observation - and not one that you or I know to be 100% true or false. We can agree to disagree. It's not going to make WB release this freaking video any sooner, which is what really matters! ;)

umad?

I only used them as examples since they all have albums coming out around the same time. I'm losing interest because I wasn't excited in the first place for an album co-written by a rather obscure producer and the lack of anything truly substantial in the past 10 years. This whole thing has been a huge tease-fest for us, I guess I just don't have the patience required to deal with getting stills of a woman that's not even Stevie.

Honestly, I think most of us are just annoyed with the album getting delayed, having to wait 10 years in the first place, we're highly dubious of the people Stevie's collaborating with for this album, and what it will mean to her sound. I'm sure all of our fears will be quelled on May 3rd, but until then, I think a great deal of us are a bit freaked out and cranky. Dave's teases just seem to be rubbing salt in our wounds.

Exactly. The teases were exciting the first few months, but now they have gotten annoying. It seemed promotion for the album was going to kick into full gear in Feb, but it seems to have just fallen off the cliff. There have been lots of Stevie interviews, but most have been repetitive. The only actual things we've gotten for this album is a promo shot, a single, and the single cover. No videos, no promos, no clips, no tracklisting, no album cover, not even dates as to when to expect this stuff. Of course I will be excited when this comes out, but as of right now I think we all have the right to be fed up with their shenanigans.

It is like when you are running late for work and that person infront of you wants to go ten miles an hour in a 45. Would you buy a car without driving it because your neighbor once drove one around the block? The thing is, taste is highly subjective. Especially since those who attended the industry event probably had their opinions altered because they were in the room with Stevie herself. I'd argue that had they simply sat in a room alone listening to the songs, they would have come out with very different impressions. Jamie and Lindsay were excited because they were having a once in a lifetime experience... hence both have problems remembering exactly what songs were played, precisely what they sounded like, etc. I'm not begrudging them those things one bit. I probably would have lost bladder control and passed out from the excitement... and wouldn't have remembered ANYTHING .

My point is, those who are worried/annoyed/etc still very much have a right to be that way, in my opinion. Those who are uncontrollably excited and optimistic have that same right. To each their own :).

In 2003, before SYW was released, she said she would begin work on her next solo record after the Fleetwood Mac tour was over. In 2005 when asked if she had plans for doing a solo album anytime soon she replied "Absolutely! I’ve already begun writing!" In 2007 she said she had been planning on doing a solo album but then WB called her about Crystal Visions. In 2009 she said she was going to do another album after the whole Fleetwood Mac thing was over, which she is finally doing.

I totally agree with this post. However, I do trust Dave. I like everything I heard so far. I don't trust Stevie. She's been championing her own albums, calling them her best for years. Frankly, some of them were so god-awful they should of never been released. I'm still worried though. I hope her excitement and her expanations to Dave and those around her did not cloud their listening ears.

[QUOTE=louielouie2000;947662]Would you buy a car without driving it because your neighbor once drove one around the block? The thing is, taste is highly subjective. Especially since those who attended the industry event probably had their opinions altered because they were in the room with Stevie herself. I'd argue that had they simply sat in a room alone listening to the songs, they would have come out with very different impressions. Jamie and Lindsay were excited because they were having a once in a lifetime experience... hence both have problems remembering exactly what songs were played, precisely what they sounded like, etc. I'm not begrudging them those things one bit. I probably would have lost bladder control and passed out from the excitement... and wouldn't have remembered ANYTHING .

Well, let me first say that although I don’t remember exact details about each song I heard, I did remember their titles and if they were slower or faster type songs because I took notes while there. Second, although obviously excited, I went in there slightly worried about liking what I was about to hear. It was like, man - I hope Dave Stewart didnt screw this up. But I can totally honestly say that what I heard was incredible - excited or not. Everything is a matter of opinion, but I REALLY think you all will LOVE THIS RECORD! :)

Oh, and although I think Secret Love is a great song, it is NOT an indicator of the level of potential this record has. I'm guessing they picked it as the first single because it has a safe, pop feel to it. The other songs I heard were much more powerful.

You'll see.....

Thanks Jamie.:) It's good to reiterate, because although I think most of us like Secret Love, most of us also instinctively trust there is much more to In Your Dreams than this nice little slice of pop candy.

From all buzzworthy accounts & tidbits I'm really looking forward to hearing Moonlight, Italian Summer & Annabel Lee.

Oh yes, because Stevie's intention in life is to purposely annoy her fans to no end making them wait endlessly with their tongues wagging begging for her to release another album right this second!
Just don't blame it totally on her. We really have no idea what goes on behind record label doors, just sayin'.

It isn't that she consciously does these things, it is the fact that she unconsciously does them and never seems to care to step up the pace. Yes, many things go on behind record label doors, but I highly doubt the record label had anything to do with her sitting on her hands until Feb of last year to make the record and then taking such a long ass time to record it. Dave Stewart did his in a week, yet they were recording her album all the way from Feb to November. Based on the fact that many artists make albums in much shorter times, yet Stevie is notorious for how long it takes her to make an album, I am going to bet most of the delay is on her shoulders. And even if that isn't the case, we have been hearing about a Secret Love video for weeks now, and we were told by Stevie's people that it would be out two weeks ago. Then we were told we'd see the sizzle reel in a few days, but then later told we wouldn't see it until after they dropped the SL video, which is now 2 weeks late. We were also told to watch Stevie perform her new single on Ellen and look for the single cover on Ellen, but then both statements were retracted. Not to mention the whole March is a good time to release an album and I don't want anyone to hear it until March 1 bs that flew out of Stevie's mouth in August. My point being that Stevie and her team suck at management and communication and some heads need to roll. If they are going to announce something, they need to make sure they have their facts right. Don't boast dates in our face if you don't have any intention of actually meeting them, and if you do have to delay something, don't just leave us hanging. Their ever continuing blunders and current lack of promotion drive me a little bat ****. I still love Stevie, but christ I wish I made as much money as her management/team does and was able to fail at my job so badly.

Yeah, but somewhere in between all of that she said she would not be doing another solo album because fans were stealing her music anyway and she was depressed about the industry's future.

So, that kind of dampened expectations for a while.

Michele

This makes me think of her singing Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You at her woodstock show. Her shawl is basically see thru and her top only has spaghetti straps :) It starts about 4:10

Somebody tweeted Dave and said that Stevie BETTER be in the video. That all the fans want her in the video. I thought that was rude and no one can speak for ALL FANS anyway, or pretend like they are representing ALL FANS. Get real.

For what its worth, oohmylove posted on an other Stevie board (7wonders):

"In a direct message to me via Twitter, Dave said"

"Look for it within the next two weeks ... or maybe even sooner."

Perhaps they want to release the video @6weeks before the album drops, to keep our ADD addled brains focused on the prize. As if, probably more for the benefit of the casual fan.

Honestly, in my opinion Warner Brothers not releasing the video yet is generating more buzz about the album than if they had.

Look through all of the posts on here, all of us are constantly typing about how fed up we are that we were supposed to get the music video two weeks ago. That right there is two weeks worth of us staying interested in Stevie.

We haven't really been talking that much about how much we love/hate Secret Love anymore. Yet we're all talking about this video. Chances are, if you're pissed now, you won't be when the video is finally released.

SO. Yes, I really, really want to see the Secret Love video. However, I mean. We're all talking about it, tweeting about it, and it hasn't even been released yet. It'll happen eventually :) Then we'll all be psyched about it for a week until we want more of In Your Dreams.

Right now we're in the stretch before Christmas. Once we get to Christmas we'll be amped (Secret Love video.) But a week after Christmas, we're all gonna be wanting next years Christmas. It happens :)

All in all, despite some feeling things have been seemingly delayed. In the grand scheme of it all I think things are dropping at an appropriate pace now, other than having the song Secret Love too early, which was really what set us up for wanting more..more... MORE!

*Over the last 2 weeks we have gotten to hear all those pre-recorded radio interviews drip out - even while some of them were redundant - though the KBCO-Boulder one was pretty good.

*All the Stevie press/media references regarding In Your Dreams beginning inspiration courtesy of the New Moon scene that struck Stevie, reminded her of LFTM.

*The In Your Dreams album cover unveil this week:thumbsup:, and the Glee debut of Landslide, and all the coverage and trending from that. It would seem that right at the moment there is no reason to debut the video with all the press mentions Stevie is getting.

*And in less than 2 weeks Lily hits the stage for the Heart & Soul tour debut.

So really after the video debuts - probably next week b4 the tour starts - and the track list is official (of which we already have 12 titles anyway), the waiting is the hardest part. May 3rd is practically at our fingertips, just 7 1/2 more weeks:blob2:

I'd say things are looking good after all.:woohoo: In this attention deficit, instant twitter-verse age, I think it smarter to unveil things as close as possible to the IYD release date.

Btw I'm more xcited to see the *sizzle reel* that the SL vid at this point. I wanna hear previews of some other songs.

Ditto! Although I think the "Secret Love" video will be great, the sizzle reel will really get us pumped for the new record, what with scenes from the documentary plus new song snippits. I agree with all of this except what I bolded. In my opinion, everything that has been going on lately, especially Glee and the Twilight mentions may have sparked some interest in casual/new fans who went and looked good ol' Stevie up on youtube. I think they've missed a huge opportunity by not having the Secret Love video or the sizzle reel on youtube. They definitely could have used the sparked interest to give people a taste of her new album in hopes that they may sashay on over to the Nicks Fix and preorder it, or at least buy the single, yet anybody who searched her probably only knows her new album is called In Your Dreams, if they even know that much.

And another question - where did we get the posting of the full tracklist for TISL? I can't remember where we got it first.

The full TISL track-list 1st surfaced to the general public via press release's on various music sites @late Feb. 01 such as the following from Yahoo Music/Launch.com:

"Stevie Nicks To Return To Active Duty In May
Tuesday February 27 05:00 PM EST

(2/27/01, 4 p.m. ET) -- Fleetwood Mac songstress Stevie Nicks ends a solo album drought this spring with the release of Trouble In Shangri-La, her first set of all-new material since Street Angel in 1994 and her debut for Reprise Records. Due out May 1, Trouble In Shangri-La features a 13 tracks and a wealth of collaborations with longtime cohorts and Nicks admirers.

Former boyfriend and Fleetwood Mac partner Lindsey Buckingham plays and sings on one song, while Sheryl Crow co-produces and plays on others. Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks duets on "Too Far From Texas," pop/R&B singer and recent Grammy winner Macy Gray shows up on "Bombay Sapphire," and Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan contributes piano, acoustic guitar, and backing vocals on the album-closing "Love Is." Also on hand are Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty's Heartbreakers, longtime Nicks guitarist Waddy Wachtel, former John Mellencamp violinist Lisa Germano, and Nicks's backup singers Sharon Celani and Lori Nicks.

The album will be preceded by the single "Planets Of The Universe," and Nicks is planning to tour this summer to support the release.

The full Trouble In Shangri-La track list includes: "Trouble In Shangri-La," "Candlebright," "Sorcerer," "Planets Of The Universe," "Everyday," "Too Far From Texas," "That Made Me Stronger," "It's Only Love," "Love Changes," "I Miss You," "Bombay Sapphire," "Fall From Grace," and "Love Is." -- Gary Graff, Detroit"

I downloaded "Feels Like Home: on amazon. I've always liked Ronstadt, but have never kept up with her like Stevie. But I am Lovin' her rendition of "The Waiting". I saw her in concert a couple years ago at our botanical garden concert series and she seemed winded and her voice not as strong (though that could be due to our altitude as well). But, I was happy to find on FLH that her voice, while aged, is still potent and wistful. Thanks for the suggestion!

Well, it's still early in the day:cool:, But I'm beginning to wonder if they'll wait towards the latter part of the week (hope I'm wrong) closer to the opening night of the H & S tour. And it also could be delayed (though not music related) because of the whole Pacific disaster and radiation leak/nuclear nightmare.:distress: These things affect Stevie deeply - being a highly sensitive personality type - as it has affected all of us to some degree.

And it also could be delayed (though not music related) because of the whole Pacific disaster and radiation leak/nuclear nightmare.:distress: These things affect Stevie deeply - being a highly sensitive personality type - as it has affected all of us to some degree.

I think it is all in what Dave said. "keep following for Stevie Video announcements next week :)" Key word? Announcements. On Friday they will probably announce that it is coming out in three weeks!

What's the point of a video now? The single has been out and is dead in the water already. I know some of you will say the video will boost sales. Well, not in this day and age. They didn't strike when the iron was hot.

Secret Love is not dead in the water, it's still building. And it's not about sales (not for a Stevie single), it's more about airplay & exposure to promote IYD. SL is actually getting some decent airplay on AC (Adult Contemporary) and Triple A (Adult Album Alternative) stations across the country (I've heard it 5x on the radio in over a weeks span). Yes, we've had it for 2 months, but SL was officially released for radio adds @3 weeks ago, and is doing pretty well. On the AC charts, for instance it has charted higher than Gaga's Born This Way and Adele's Rolling In The Deep in it's 3rd week.
You need to check out: Secret Love picking up major increases at AC radio thread.

I guess I'm a bit divergent here... what would a video really do in the current state of the industry? MTV hasn't played videos for over a decade. VH1 no longer plays videos. Who would even see a video, and where would they see it at? At this point in the game, I think a video would really on serve the interests of the hardcore fans (us). Sure, it's possible it'd go viral on youtube... but I don't think Stevie's really viral material because she doesn't do insane stuff in her videos (ala Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Madonna, etc).

Basically Secret Love has to stand alone on it's merits as a song... something I think it's doing quite well. Especially if you consider how it's had no promotion at ALL from Warner Bros, Stevie hasn't sung it live on TV, it's not being dropped into any TV show soundtracks, there is no album yet, there is no video, etc. Secret Love is rising in the new adds charts and request charts as a stand alone effort... and that honestly makes me quite proud .

For this day and age, it is.

I think it is sad to think that Billboard is determines what is a hit or not. For people that listen to AC stations, I guess it is.

I'm from a different time. It's all about the 'net nowadays. To me, AC charts and Billboard are worthless and mean nothing in my eyes.

Agreed. What the hell does radio mean anymore? If you're making it these days, you have a youtube video with millions of hits.

The internet makes the music industry these days.

It's not about YOU being from a different time, It is about Stevie being from a different time. Shocker!! You must not understand that it is almost impossible for an artist over 40 (much less over 60!) to get radio play on a Top 40 pop format. Stevie is getting airplay where she should be, and is doing quite well with very little promotion!!
On the video front, once the Secret Love video comes out, Stevie will get even more critical exposure on the net via YouTube, Facebook & MySpace official Stevie sites that have all been primed for her video releases recently as well as the official WarnerBros sites. Consider just in the last month on Facebook, her page has blown up by almost 50K likes and climbing very quicky by about 5K likes every few days. Thats a lot of people, who may have not heard the song on the radio or at all AND will hear it via video when it is released.

Billboard is the trade publication of record for the music industry with weekly and daily editions. It's a conduit for information. Chart placement is generated by figures, not opinion. They account for spins at radio and audience impressions, soundscan sales figures (physical and digital sales), AND streaming activity data from online music sources.

Stating that Billboard determines what is a hit is like saying the Wall Street Journal determines stock values. It reports measurable data.

Secret Love was only released on Feb. 8 and it wasn't "sent" - a which formal process - to AC radio until the following week and to Triple AAA/Hot AC the week after.

It's gaining fantastic momentum with more and more stations - including on-line - adding it every week.

That and it is a much easier way to catch someone's attention on the internet. A music video is more captivating than simply the song, so to get it out there and for people to post it, it stirs up more interest in the album. Plus there is the whole art aspect to it. Music video's aren't simply for promotion, but they are also art-forms themselves.

I would hope that Dave learned his lesson after promising a trailer back in February, only to have to retract that because of WB. So unless WB has decided to unleash the video closer to the release of IYD (perhaps an early April unveil) I'm reluctantly optimistic that the SL video will drop in the next few days.
Because I have to believe that Stevie is going to favor people watching the Secret Love "professional" video on YouTube as opposed to the inevitable amateur fan "live" leak's sure to surface after this weeks Heart & Soul opening night debut of SL.

I have to say I'm rather impressed with Stevie's camp and Warner/Reprise in how tight a lid that they have kept on the album itself. By this time 10 years ago LukeA had long since posted the song snippets and the remainder of the songs had snippets posted online as well.Advanced promo copies of TISL were easty to come by ..I had one by this time ten years ago .Aside from the 3 Ledgies who were able to hear the 8 tracks in San Diego last month and posted about it no one who is really credible has come forth to say that they have heard a moment of the album besides the single. If they can keep this up until May 3rd color me very impressed.Of course I still want to see/hear that sizzle reel!

I just saw that ..more competition by a younger female in basically the same genre.I think Fleet Foxes chart placement is going to surprise some on that date too.It is also highly anticipated. One interesting thing I did notice on another album being released a week before on April 24 that I'm looking forward to is Emmylou Harris's "Hard Bargain"..track number 5 on her tracklist is a song called "New Orleans" the same title and track number as is being reported on IYD.

That is what I want to know. I just think that the sooner they get it out, the more people will see and the more people will want to buy the album. What is holding off on it going to do? Other than us, most people aren't sitting around waiting for the new Stevie Nicks video. If they want it to have any kind of impact on the general population, they need to get it out there and have it start spreading around ASAP.

I think we have the tracklist too. Not worried about that anymore.

I think what we have is extremely close, but I would like to know the sequencing and a few details, such as what is the title of the New Orleans song, is there 12 or 13 tracks, and whether or not Cheaper Than Free still on it, all "officially" cleared up.

It's quite possible that outside forces are contributing to the delay. Things in Japan are getting worse by the day, Libya now has a no-fly zone. The world's attention is elsewhere. Besides the little band of uber-fans here and on the other MB, I don't think anyone will really notice a new Stevie Nicks video. I think it's smart not to release a video in this climate, it would just get lost in the shuffle.

In the bigger picture I was thinking along the same lines as you, Especially, earlier in the week. But however you frame it, the disaster in Japan is going to be going on for Days. Months. Years. Decades. :distress: So while, I felt it arguably inappropriate to drop any release early this week, At this point...there is no harm in releasing a little ole video. Like you mention, probably only a scant hundred or thousands of us die-hards will notice initially, but we will share it via facebook and what not, and it would be great additional promotion to have it out before the opening night of Heart & Soul. I used to torrent many years ago. And to be honest, I got some of the best bootlegs this way, including the Fleetwood Mac 1975 Largo video_ts (DVD) file, Joni Mitchell's first ever TV appearance in 1967, Stevie concerts, etc. But, OMG, it took freaking forever to download stuff- literally days for a video.

I'm not sure about this one though. But the fact that it's now being seeded by several sites is bothersome to me. Accordingly, I'm concerned that, indeed, the final tracklisting has 12 songs and doesn't include "New Orleans."

Do you remember Napster? It's kind of like that. You are simultaneously downloading, aka, leeching, while you are uploading, aka, seeding tiny fragments of data at a time. So if there are lots of seeders, things can get downloaded quickly, whereas if there are only a couple of seeders, it will take hours/days to download stuff. In order to participate, you need to establish an account and then download some kind of application/applet that automates the file upload/download process. It sounds all fine and dandy, but if your upload connection is slow, your download connection is slow too. And it's best to let these things run overnight because it can seriously drag down the performance of your computer.

Not legal. It is peer-to-peer sharing and someone may have ripped an advanced copy, which I'm sure have been made already. I was in the music industry for a bit and would constantly get advances of albums not due out for a couple months.

HejiraNYC

Of course it's illegal! Some sites have an explicit policy about prohibiting the seeding of commercially available, copyrighted works, which I think helps to skirt the issue of legality a bit, but does not exactly completely absolve the site from any wrongdoing IMHO. Perhaps there is a loophole in this instance because the work is not technically commercially available.

I personally hope this is all fake.

I remember a few years ago when Guns n Roses' Chinese Democracy had supposedly leaked. It turns out that it was a pastiche of assorted demos and live tracks (since GnR had been playing these songs live well in advance of the album). As for IYD, one of these torrent sites actually showed a tracklisting that was identical to the tracklisting on that New Zealand e-commerce site.

I blame Reagan, Clinton, Obama.

But here are my thoughts on teh subject. If i buy a legit copy of an album, I should be allowed to copy it and give it to whomever I want (my mom, my friends, my Ledge buddies, or via file sharing)--or if I ultimately want to sell it as a used copy. The rationale is simple: they got my money and now i can do what i want with the cd. i could use it as a frisbee even if that offends the artist. And as for file sharing: let's face it, most of us want to know that if I give you something you'll give me something at some point--which means we both have incentive to buy things at some point; ergo: not inherently bad for business.

However, if I made copies of an album that I bought (or not) and SOLD those copies, I should go to jail for life.

Now, as for gettnig an unreleased copy. It is wrong of the person who makes it available, but it's not wrong of me because a) I won't sell it and b) I will buy ten copies of the album anyway when it comes out.

This stuff is garbage. You have to sign up for a bunch of stuff to do it and then you don't know if it will work or not. Probably get a virus on your computer to boot.

I don't think it's really avialable. They are just trying to get you to sign up for their products. I'm going to buy 8 copies of this album. I want to hear it now. I deserve too. I've supported her career enough.

I cannot do this. It's taking forever and I'm not sure it's legit. Plus, my name is going to be out there.

Good idea. Just wait it out. Stevie said she hopes her fans are "honorable", remember?? LOL

Given the chance to listen/stream the brand new CD, if it did leak, I would JUMP at it. Caveat being, if it were through some reliable outlet, or leaked on a fan-site.;)
At this point I'd be real happy to just *preview* an entirely different sample other than SL from IYD, preferably Moonlight, Italian Summer or Annabel Lee!

Other than that, the official SL video would be wonderful. Some of you are saying video's are irrelevant, except, perhaps in clubs. I disagree, In the last couple of years (thanks to Lady Gaga and a few others) videos have crossed over the threshold from viewing on TV/Clubs to be a major promotional vehicle on the big bad WWW! Having a visual to go along with "Secret Love" - the song, will no doubt, help people further connect deeper with the song. In fact, some who may have dismissed it on 1st glance, may end up connecting with it in an utterly contrasting kinetic realm.

It apparently was (is) the real version floating around. I found one torrent site that had it removed saying:

"Torrent has been censored, as required by US court."

so I guess Stevie's people at Warner Bros got wind of its leak

Eh, after some quick and lazy googling, I'm inclined to believe the torrents are fake. For one thing, I never trust a torrent if they're all in zip files, that's a one-stop-shope to virus city.

this sort of thing is the last thing Stevie wants. She's been very plain about it in recent interviews. This kind of stuff makes me really nervous. We're so close to finally seeing the release of this thing that I get really worried that something like this would throw a big old monkey wrench into the works. I know Warner's are on a production schedule and the CD would probably go out on time regardless of whether it got leaked or not but it may make La Nicks angry (we don't want that) and may put future releases in serious jeopardy. Yes, I'm a worry wart. :o But I guess I want Stevie to embrace the internet as a promotion vehicle rather than something evil that "single handedly is killing the music business..."as she so eloquently puts it.

...or WB can get on the ball and push up the release of IYD to coincide with the H&S tour. The album's done. In the can. They are only doing themselves a disservice by sending out preview copies and sitting on it. Did they really think they could keep this thing under wraps? Pandora done be outta da box.

Like no one's tried to download this yet...

So, did it work? Is it really In Your Dreams?

Just to play along, I went as far as I could go without actually DL~ing the 84.2 mb file. I didn't have to sign up for anything.

I'm willing to wait for the official release. I hope WB shuts it all down!

Stevie's youtube has uploaded about 6 HD videos from Live In Chicago in the past like 2 hours. ...

Wonder if this is any indication that the Secret Love video will be put up soon.

I've found two torrents so far. The 84 MB one is a crock of ****, so don't waste your time. I'm sure this other one is a crock too, but I will let you know.

Here is something interesting.
We recently had the Rolling Stone album guide come out, which indeed feature In Your Dreams.
Now, when I was looking at the select Torrents - one had 'Retail' in the title. Obviously, these troublemakers read things such as RS, here about an album coming out - and forget about it.

Accordingly, I'm concerned that, indeed, the final tracklisting has 12 songs and doesn't include "New Orleans."

I wouldn't worry .A new issue of Rolling Stone that isn't on the stands yet has a spring album preview section with IYD listing it as 13 tracks.

The videos uploaded onto her youtube channel were these:

-Stand Back
-Dreams
-Gold Dust Woman
-Crash into me
-Landslide
-Edge of Seventeen

The "Classic" or "Trademark" Stevie songs.

Definitely a marketing move. When people see the Secret Love video on that channel, then see all these other songs that they've heard before, but don't know who signs it, they will all achieve the "Aha" moment, and go out and buy In Your Dreams :) hahah
