View Full Version : Finally, BUCKINGHAM NICKS (+) to be released June 1, 2010

Something we've all been waiting for:
"Due for release June 1, 2010 from Mobile Fidelity Sounds Labs
The Complete Buckingham Nicks Sessions, featuring rare outtakes
many never heard before. Keith Olsen the original producer and
engineer for the album, has finished the remastering project. And
according to Olsen (and verified by Mobile Fidelity) the original
masters were in pristine condition. A very happy surprise for Olsen,
who had imagined the tapes would have to be "baked" to get them
in usable shape. It turned out according to Olsen to be about
the music itself instead of the quality of the master tapes. He knows
how important the this title is to the fans, and in a recent interview
with Mix Magazine (May Issue), "I've been asked more about this
album than anything I've ever done". And the emails at Pogologo
Production Group would confirm this. He's kept the project a
secret for over a year at the request of Lindsey Buckingham and
Stevie Nicks. The complete track list will be released on MFSL's
website in May. The CD will include a 24 page booklet featuring
pictures of Lindsey and Stevie never seen before."
And to coincide with this release WBR's TCB Video will release
for the very first time "Buckingham Nicks, Tuscaloosa Live".
The 16mm print has been sitting in someone's vault for over 35 years,
and has never been bootlegged. Jerry Schilling (producer at TCB)
"jumped at the chance" for this video. Schilling is proud to be apart
of this project. Interviewed by Rolling Stone Magazine for the Elvis
at 75 (August Issue) Schilling stated "you know a couple of Elvis'
musician's played on the album Buckingham Nicks, and that how
we received the information about this video. Jerry Scheff who played
bass for Elvis, and on Buckingham Nicks knew the concert had been
filmed (though Mr. Scheff wasn't on tour with Lindsey and Stevie, he
was out with Elvis at the time). His brother Cosmo attended the concert
in Tuscaloosa at Jerry's request. And on his own went up to the man
that was filming the show that night and asked for a copy of the film after
explaining his connections with Jerry and Elvis. The cinematographer
was happy to obilge, being a big Elvis fan. "That's how we got the lead",
Jerry said, "a couple of pair of Elvis' concert tickets and Cosmo's boldness
is all it took". Scheff was surprised to have found his copy of the Buckingham
Nicks film, but more importantly he found the name and address of the man
who filmed the show. And with that information he contacted his friend
(Schilling) in 2007 when they were working on another Elvis project (30th
anniversary). And in 2008 he finally tracked down the guy had the original
film. And when he agreed to the terms, they contacted Lindsey and Stevie's
agents. Schilling admitted that Lindsey was very hesitant to release this film
due to the sound quality, but after seeing the film he was shocked at how good
video looked. Lindsey's approval really set things in motion. And now after
over 35 years, the film will be released on Blu ray and DVD June 1, 2010.
TCB video will release more information on the film in May 2010 at the WBR
website.

I hate to be pissy, but this is nothing to joke about with Stevie's fans. What a ****ty, terrible April Fool's "joke".
Thanks for ruining my day.

I'm with the pissy crowd. This definitely made my heart skip a beat when I read it.
Maybe saying that Behind The Mask was going to be remastered with bonus tracks would have been more suitable.

Well, yeah, but, it's always the same... it's either music that hasn't been released or it's songs that haven't been performed live. Same old, same old. <yawn>
Since it's always the same, it 's now serioulsy transparent. After the first five thousand times, things cease to be funny.

Unless there are secret recipes for fertilizer bombs encrypted in the lyrics, I can't imagine why it would never be released.
Eventually, I'm sure it will be. Not sure what the hold up has been, but it's not like we haven't already heard it.

I totally thought the whole thing was true and was oblivious to it being April fool's day. I wasn't terribly disappointed though because I'm not a huge Buckingham fan although I would have most certainly purchased this. I can kind of understand why people are upset though because if it had been something Stevie solo related I would have been really excited but at the end of the day it's just a joke - get over it. Sorry to those who were disappointed.

It will someday. It may be a lonnng time from now, but even if Stevie and Lindsey never do it, someone is bound to do it after they die (:distress:). But when that miserable day comes, Stevie will become even more of a legend and someone will release it just for profit off of it.

David and Carrie, is it all right if I invite

I would invite Vivfox, but I think he'd have

I wished it was true but I know every April 1st we always get these kinda threads.....when your promised something that you'd love to have.....as they say if it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't true........though if Stevie or Lindsey read this thread maybe 'they' could really get a clue & really release it but I doubt it.......anyway, it was a good joke......LOL.......I loved the booklet idea too......:]

I have a funny bone and certainly can appreciate a good April's Fool joke....it's just when it's something a lot of fans want, it sucks to find out it's a stupid joke....Honestly. Do you guys think this is any crueler than the way people in Fleetwood Mac have been saying for decades "We'll release it on CD some day" (or fill in whatever floats your boat: "I'll release my Rhiannon soundtrack some day" or "My solo album is 99 percent finished").
If the band would shut up about it after all these years, there wouldn't be so many people still holding their breath for it. When a DJ asks Stevie & Lindsey about it, they should just say, "We're not going to bother--sorry."

I agree completely with this. It's so frustrating! They own the damn album and they could have put it out long ago if they really wanted to or could be bothered. Make a decision either way and stop baiting your fans. It's not like they're new artists who need to do that kind of thing for publicity any more. Just. make. a decsision. Ok - rant over!

You know for years I always posted my annual April Fools press release on the Enchanted mailing list and it was ALWAYS a huge hit and met with groans yes, but mostly the "gotcha" was appreciated. Then two years ago I decided to bring my joke here to the Ledge and all hell broke loose. The hate mail that I got as a result was mind boggeling to me. I had people saying I should be booted from the forum etc. It was insane. As I said over at Enchanted it was always taken for what it was, a joke. But here fans are far more sensitive, more so than I ever dreamed.
What's funny is in my press releases I just made up everything, but in 2004 I posted that in an exclusive interview with Mick he revealed that the second leg of the Say You Will tour was going to be kicking off and that they are switching up the set list and one of the changes was that "Sara" would be included. I made that up, but lo and behold the song WAS in the set list!!!

Good point. And I was actually much more crest fallen when there was a thread in the Christine Forum about her NEW CD to be released in the spring of 2009. It was everything I'd wished for--a genuine Christine solo career (in the studio) with some momentum and only a few years between records. Alas, only to learn that NEW release was merely a re-release of ITM.

Well, you came close - LB and SN are secretly awaiting the arrival of this technology - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holographic_Versatile_Disc - before remastering Buckingham Nicks using a 64-bit process to capture all the sounds audiophiles think they can hear on their stereo setup if they strain their ears and brain hard enough.
