10PM. But if there are 500 people already inside, she would have to sign 166 CDs per hour or just under 3 per minute. How much can her little hand take? I suspect the last hundred signatures are going to look like total chicken scratch.
Stevie loves her fans so much and is so genuine about it I think she will do it. Eother that or when she walks outside to her car and sees her fans, she will stand there and sign for them. Some artist have done that before....:o

WOW. Just WOW. I got there at 5:45 this morning and froze my tush off! I was about 7th or 8th in line and it was worth it though. She was radiant!!! I got it together long enough to look her in the eye and tell her how much she'd meant to me over the years and then I told her to do a NEW album. That we, the fans, will be there for her and will buy it and support it 100%. She got all feisty and smiled and said "I'm gonna do it!" and I said we needed her and she held my hand, looked me in the eye and said "I need you". I made it off the stage before bursting into tears. Worth my 14 hour wait. Just enchanting....

Wow...over 1,000 people that is awesome ,it must make Stevie feel loved. Thanks for answering so quickly. It would piss me off if I was cut short when you had such little time with Stevie. Did you get to shake her hand...did she say anything to you????
She touched my hand on the table, which kind of shocked me at first. Mostly because they were so warm and soft. Basically she looked up, smiled and asked "Hello, how are you?" And I replied "Terrific, and you?" And just as she was about to say something, Jabba-the-Publicist came crashing through. And I had to move myself along the chain... Grrr. Poor thing... she had to simultaneously listen to her fans, talk to her fans, sign booklets, listen to whiny publicists and move things along while flashbulbs are popping in her face. She is going to sleep well tonight!

Also, as I left the B&N I saw the tons of people outside...not a chance they will get in I think. One of the photographers from the 'press box' said to someone in line that it was the biggest turn out ever for this store. Our girls still got it.;)

Look at the bright side you got to meet her. But that woman Liz really needs to back off
Didn't she manage Madonna at one time or do I have the names confused. Sounds familiar.

When they were phumphering around with the "gels" and light bulbs over the stage several times during the afternoon, I was starting to get concerned that we were going to see a very "Norma Desmond" version of Stevie tonight, but, my goodness... the woman looks fantastic for any age, but good God- almost 61??

I tell ya... as much as I was dreading this long day of waiting, it was actually quite a bit of fun. I was almost sad to see it end! The energy, the freaks, the music, the common purpose... it was just so much fun. :p The only downside was the feeling of imprisonment- but it's nothing that a slice of Oreo pie couldn't fix.

I had THE BEST TIME EVER!! It was well worth getting up a 2am and driving in, paying $50 parking etc!
Poor Ed's misfortune was my good fortune because when the bitch Liz interrupted his time with Stevie, I held back to see what the hell she wanted, and in my scatterbrained way I forgot to get my cd from Stevie! I realized it, thank god, and went back for it. Stevie saw me hovering, said "is this yours?" and I said yes and went to get it. She patted my hand sympathetically, perhaps she sensed my dopiness. No matter! I will take any conversation with her I can get!
I cannot believe how long the line was outside the store. It went down the block and around the next one. You could not see the end of it. Poor people....
Now I have to go straight to bed so I can go try and get tickets for Jimmy Fallon tomorrow!

My pics are AWFUL but this was well worth the trip.
Stevie was ALL CLASS and made us all feel special.
I know she did the hand hold with everyone else but I didn't think she was gonna with me for whatever reason.
I said - Hey, thanks for doing this. She looked up and smiled, right in my eyes, reached out for my hand and said it was her pleasure. She held my hand the whole time she signed the dvd (like you all, I know I know...), and then I was outta there, slightly wobbly.
She was the absolute BEST. No pic with her but honestly, she made it worth it.
I can't explain to you how cool she was.

Alex had one incredible night:shocked: but I will let him tell his story when he can. She actually got sharpie on my leather jacket and felt so bad. I could care less but it was funny. She kept talking to me but the B & N staff shooed me along. I had a great time and would do it again in a heartbeat. I was lucky to be able to come to this today.

Kim (songbird4) and I just got home. Of course we had to eat afterward and walk the city a bit....
IT WAS FANTASTIC. The wait and the continuous Stevie mix of Sara and Sorcerer was well worth it.
.....We were five rows deep. We got out of there about 5 after 7, since she was so kind to start early! When it was my turn to go up, they stopped me so they could take a picture with "Stevie's eyes open".....so if the CD/DVD are in the pic, those are mine. hahaha. When I got to her, she took my hand and we shook. I told her my name and she said "Hi, Curtis. Nice to meet you. I can't believe they are playing my music loud in here. Its like my own lil rock show". aw....she said my name! haha. After that, I don't remember much. She signed my shiz.....and even put a Wild Heart on it because I asked her to do so yay. The heart is my favorite thing ever!
Nice meeting everyone and revisiting with old friends! Hope to see you Thursday.

Stevie Nicks held my hand the entire time she signed my DVD and CD. I was shaking (like a leaf on a tree).
I leaned over and I said to her: "You are so cute!!!!!!!"
She looked up at me and said: "AAAWWWWWWW!" and she BEAMED, LUMINOUS.
I went up to Karen and said: "I meant to bring my copy of Destiny Rules for you to sign, but I left it at home!!"
Karen laughed and said: "Nice to meet you" and brushed me off the stage.
Heaven.
Bliss.
Stevie Nicks touched me.

Okay - I just got back home after dinner with friends. And, we TOTALLY saw Angela Lansbury leaving her show on the way home. What a day this has been!!!!!
I got the event at about 12:45. I in the initial section, which was cool. I made it up to see her by about 7:30, so the line really moved. The BN people were reaslly nice, but the ones at the table were rather rude.
So, La Nicks walks up to the desk, grabs the mic and and says "Want to know why I have invited you here [may she said gathered you here - it was very loud] ? We are all going to be put in a spaceship and flown to another planet!" "eek:  Or something like that. It was hysterical.
When I got to the podium, they brought this lady up in a wheelchair. I thought La Nicks was going to burst into tears when talking to her. She was saying something like thanks for making the effort to see me, I know it is hard - or something like that. Then, the guy in front of me stepped up, KNELT DOWN, and proceeded to invite her somewhere. As they were ushering him away, my DVD got singed and handed to me without her speaking to me. The guy started to push me away when I politely said "thank you Miss Nicks" - she realizewd what has happened and was sort of shy about it. We chatted very broefly about the guy in front of me and then she smiled and said thank you and I was out of there. I really felt like she saved the day because I almost got shoved out of there after seven hours of waiting without her seeing me. So, kudos to her.
Now - about her people and the handlers at the desk. When people wait for seven or more hours, it is HIGHLY rude to speak about these people as if they are not in the room, to wit: "HURRY THESE PEOPLE UP" "THESE PEOPLE ARE TALKING TOO MUCH" etc. With respect, the process was moving way quickly and very well. She signed the first 144 in about 45 minutes. So, while there were many more waiting, it was very inconsiderate to speak of the fans as if they were an aggravation as opposed to the butter on the bread
In any event, I had a great time and it was great to meet all the ledgies.

I got to touch Stevie's hand! She's so tiny! And looks so pretty and still youthful even close up. It was great, and I was speechless until I realized my 10 seconds was almost up so I congrtulated her on the 2 new releases and complimented her on the Madison Square Garden show. She said "thank you, did you go?" (well yeah, that's why I'm complimenting you honey..)
Anyway, I had fun doing this and I'm not usually a big fan of waiting for stuff.
The pics I got were so far away. I didn't bring a camera and used the cellphone which as we know always takes such lovely photos (lol)

I was the first person on the cash register cutoff line. We stood at the register for about 90 minutes before we were able to buy and get the magic receipt for the fourth floor.
I think she signed for every single person who showed up. I don't know if B&N closed off the line, but it looked like there were 250 or so more people behind me who had been seated when I got up to her around 9:30.
She was so sweet, taking a second to take your hand and look into your eyes. So genuine.
I wasn't expecting that, I was just expecting assembly line.
Made some friends on the line ... and I hope they're future Ledgies!

That spaceship quip was priceless! How cool for all of you guys!!! I'm glad so far it's seemed to have gone well. (Despite the sometimes rude staff)

The space ship line was FAB.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And, the rude people did not rain on this fan's parade. In fact, the guy to the left of the desk when your looking at it was the one who tried to manhandle me out of there and I just did not budge until politely got her attention
Also -- prior to signing she went on about how she did not have a book out, but felt like she had one and then romanticized that the DVD/CD was like a book. Withing that, she sort of suggested without suggesting that she needed to write a book.
She was happy, energetic, lively, playful, pixie like, etc. It was quite a day!

I went up to Karen and said: "I meant to bring my copy of Destiny Rules for you to sign, but I left it at home!!"
Karen laughed and said: "Nice to meet you" and brushed me off the stage.
That's so funny.
Everyone's stories have been great to read. The way it was set up it sounds more like a gathering or event than a "line." No wonder the time went by so fast and the pay off sounds fantastic.

When I got to the podium, they brought this lady up in a wheelchair. I thought La Nicks was going to burst into tears when talking to her. She was saying something like thanks for making the effort to see me, I know it is hard - or something like that. .
I totally saw that and I was thinking to myself "strand just got line jumped"
to all those who didn't attend due to health issues, Stevie and B&N went out of there way to accomadate several handicapped people, so don't let that stop you next time!!!
it was great!!! I went with my sister and we had a blast talking to other fans and just people watching. I met several Ledgies and everyone was wonderful!!!
meeting Stevie was perfect, she took the time to talk and listen to me even though I was close to the 500 mark and got up to the podium at around 8PM...she was very gracious at this event and looked happy and relaxed!!! Stevie Nicks is really tiny!! but her smile is electric...
when we got to the desk, I started to feel tongue-tied but I said to myself "no, this is probably the only time you'll ever meet her this close so get over this nervousness and start talking"
My sister was up before me and said "It's a pleasure to meet you. My sister is one of your biggest fans!!" and pointed to me upon which Stevie totally blew her off and moved onto me...
I said "I've been a fan since my sister was a baby, ever since Bella Donna" then Stevie held out her hand to me and when I went to hold it, she pulled me slightly closer so I sincerely said "thank you for your poetry and music, both have been a great inspiration in my life" Then she nodded and said "thank you" or" chickenfeathers" who knows, but it was great!!!
when we left, fans we had sat with met on the floor below and you could just see the glow she created in each of our faces...I am still walking on air!!:]
ps: all my pics suck!!! and the line outside was very long...

Next time I'm going! It will have to take the whole country of China to drag me down not to go! Had I known they were going to have 300 chairs and we would have been able to sit all day long, I would have been there. That lady who I spoke to on BN saturday didn't tell me about the accomodations. Everything looks so organized and well put together.

Hi everyone,
I haven't been active online in the fandom for a couple years, and even when I was, it was brief, but I wanted to share my little story with you :) I met a few of you there tonight, and I just want to say what an honor it was to share the evening with you.
When I got up to Stevie, the first thing I did was ask if I could shake her hand, which I did, and told her how beautiful she looked. She thanked me and was very gracious and sweet. As she looked down to sign my items, I said "You know, I just have to tell you that I have the biggest crush on you." At first, she didn't really respond, but then after a second, she said "You know I could be your grandmother." I didn't hear what she said the first time, so she looked up at me and repeated it. I told her I didn't care at all and repeated how stunning she looked. I thanked her, and that was it.
I can't believe it was as amazing as it was and I only had to wait 4 hours. I got there at 4 after running from class uptown and expected not even to get in, but the last few rows of chairs were filling up just as I got there. :)

OKAY so I am JUST getting home...well at 12midnight and now its 1am!! I am STILL in awe that I got to meet Stevie and talk to her and her touching me Like I can barekly believe it!! In my WILDEST dreams I would never actually really think I would really meet Stevie Nicks herself!! but it happened and I can honestly say if it wasnt for Eric I wouldnt have gone and met Stevie!! I have been awake for 30 hours now HAHA
Monday afternoon I took a power nap til 7pm and I've been up since
Eric and his friend Wendy picked me up at 3:30am. We arrived in NYC at the Barnes and Noble by 8:30 and chilled outside until 10am. While waiting in line SNLRhiannon(Tiffany) was behind us w/ her friend!!! So that was awesome we all became like BBFs all day! I also got to meet up w/ Brain, Andrew, Pattie, I saw Curtis, and a few other people. We took many pictures and funny videos. I only got a few good pictures of Stevie and an 18 second video HAHA.
So once they opened the doors at 10am there were about 60 people in line. We ordered our CDs/DVDs got our receipt...before we get on stage for Stevie to sign our stuff we show our receipt to the people and give us what we bought for her to sign. They played tons of Stevie throughout the store. We all pretty much chilled out and also went out to get fresh air off and on. We found an AWESOME penis book that Tiffany played an awesome joke on Eric with =P Andrew REALLY got a kick out of the book SO I chatted with people and took pictures and made good friends with the host guy Matt he was wicked cute ;-) So everytime I saw him I'd be like "HI MATT!!" and wave xD
So there was a section for the press to take pictures of Stevie when she arrived for like 5 minutes. She arrived at 6:30pm so she was 30 minutes early and she DID sign up until 10pm. We were allowed to take pictures so people MAULED over that side of the room. Stevie also took pictures with 3(i think 3)people who did the NOTS thing. Then she made her way to the stage where she spoke a few words and she was VERY candid and it was awesome!! I'll have Eric explain his experience =P
Each row got called up. So I was in the thrid row. I'm NOT gonna lie, I was a COMPLETE mess!! Crying and everything...Like I never thought I would EVER meet Stevie and HERE SHE IS AND I AM GOING TO MEET HER!!! So when it was my turn I stood there w/ my mouth wide open and I said "oh my god Stevie I love you" she signed my Stevie DVD and CD and I said "My mom wanted to be here but she couldnt but wanted me to say Hi and that she loved you" so Stevie wrote "mom" w/ a squiggle under it on the DVD and she said something to me and she held my hands and I said "Thank you SO much". Stevie is SOOOOO much tinyer in person!! She's SO small, her hands were WICKED soft, and her voice is like a nasily child...its SOOO cute!! She looked me right in the eyes and I thought that was really nice. Oh and Andrew took a video of Eric, Myself, and Tiffany meetin Stevie!! So I cant wait to see that video!
After you did your meet thingy they rushed you off stage and I just started bawling my eyes out!! I called my mom IMMEDIATLY and she started crying once she found out I met Stevie...lol I called a few other people and was on a texting rampage!! I cried EVERYTIME I said the story and I think I will keep crying when I tell the story HAHA
There were a LOT of film crew people. ET interviewed Stevie so hopefully that will air tomorrow. Tiffany(SNLRhiannon) got interviwed right after Stevie signed her stuff. Some camera guys panned on us(Eric, Wendy, Tiffany, etc) while we were waiting in line so WHO KNOWS who will be on TV...lol
I did take A LOOOOT of pictures and some of the Stevie ones came out good.

This has got be the experience of a lifetime for you guys. This is way better then when we do the edge of 17 thing because its kind of hard to communicate with Stevie with her band playign loudly in your ear and your elbow to elbow with a couplde hundred people. This was way more personal, I'm very envious. AND it was a free meet n greet.

Wow. Congratulations to everyone who went. That is just awesome that Stevie held hands with fans and looked you in the eye. Thank you for all the pics and video.
Ok, so I am so stoked that Stevie said she is doing another solo album, so I wonder how this will tie into a possible FM album? Who knows, I am just so excited it seems that she is excited about the music business again. Hopefully sales of this CD/DVD plus the mp3 sales inspired her a bit.

It's crazy world we live in, and unfortunately there are bad people out there that would do harm to someone famous just so that in their mind they would become famous. The fact that this day was apparently handled in such a smooth fashion and that no fans got out of control is really cool.

WOW! Thanks to everyone for sharing all of your stories and pictures and videos! What an incredible evening! I SO wish I could have been there. Also, it sounds like everyone really touched her and probably made this a heart warming, positive experience for her as well; I'm sure she was nervous since she's never really done anything like this. So thanks to you all because I'm sure you made her night! Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see more "meet 'n greet" types of things in the future. Your stories are really so fabulous; I'm a total dork sitting here reading them with a huge grin on my face! Thanks again! :)

The downstairs queue started with people who got there around 6. And I was the first one on that line. At the time had no idea we would get to see her, and even when we were up and in the seats, it seemed like such a long time and we didn't really expect to get our chance until our row was called and we were on the actual line to the dais.

ET was there as Stevie Nicks met enthusiastic fans at Barnes & Noble in New York's Union Square during her very first in-store appearance.
The 60-year-old multiple Grammy winner and legendary Fleetwood Mac singer greeted fans and signed copies of her latest CD, The Soundstage Sessions, as well as her new DVD, Live in Chicago.
"This is really fun for me I am enjoying it, and I'm very proud of this 1985 - 2009," Stevie says. "I have the best fans. They are very honorable and very polite. They get excited but they are really sweet and I love that. I have wonderful fans."
There has never been a shortage of Stevie Nicks look-alikes and impersonators -- both men and women -- and some of them showed up to her first-ever in-store signing. Watch the video to hear how they are inspired by the original "Gold Dust Woman."
"It's a dream come true," says one adoring fan. "I've waited over 20 years to meet her. She's just so gracious and so loving. She wants to meet all her fans. She can't often do that so this is a real treat for everybody. We've followed her for years and years, and she's just beautiful."
Nicks is once again performing with Fleetwood Mac, which earlier this month kicked off its "Unleashed" nationwide tour, the group's first tour in five years.

Well i got to have a brief chat with stevie...and she was sooo sweet and gracious! I couldnt believe how good she looked up close! NO GLOVES EITHER!!!
I told her how much her music meant to me esp after losing my best friend to cancer...and she kinda grabbed my hands and briefly talked about Robin, and how her brother recently was diagnosed with cancer, and how its taking all these wonderful people from us. I told her "Has Anyone" got me through it, and she thanked me and said for me to take care of myself. As i walked away, and she continued signing, i could see her stop and give me a final glance...it was really touching. Then after some reporter asked me for a quote about what we were talking about cause it seemed to move stevie....lol

I'm still trying to make sense of this... it was all so fast and so surreal! I guess I was most shocked by how her voice sounded off-mike- it was incredibly velvety and welcoming- like a big warm blanket. It's no wonder that she is so good at nurturing the soldiers. She seemed really nervous (especially since the first guy was certifiably insane), but she was very genuine, looked you in the eye and her hands are so soft and warm... It's hard to be in the moment when the moment is such a clusterf*** of stimuli.
She does sound velvety doesn't she? LOL and her hands are so soft. Glad it worked out for you and everyone....

Wow what a great interview. Stevie seems so happy and so pumped. She thinks her fans are wonderful and not "creepy" Maybe she'll consider writing a book now. I hope so! I think it's so fantastic how she seemed to take the time to look each fan in the eye and acknowledge them and take a moment to speak to them even though she was told to keep things moving. I think she realizes that this really is a cool way to meet fans  I'm so happy for all of you guy's and thanks for all the stories and pictures

I am so tired but I am going to try to get it all in.
We left at 3:30am from Mass. I finally got home at 12:30am
I was so much fun meeting everyone and seeing the people I already knew. Caitlin, Andrew, Tiffany and Co. so on and so forth.
I am going to cut to Stevie coming in.
So Stevie comes in and we were already told that we COULD take pictures while she was getting the press photos done but we had to stop taking them when she got on stage. Well of course that didn't work! Smile
So here I am snapping snapping snapping pictures like a CRAZY person and thanks to DEREK who posted that video because Stevie looked right at me and I waved to her she pointed and said "You! Your outta here! and then pointed to the door (you can see her point on the video) then she laughed and blew me a kiss and I blew one back. I now realized that my camera was still visible. So that part was so freaking cool!! SO SURREAL!
So I get up to her and of course I have no idea what I am going to say so here was the conversation:
Eric: Hi Stevie it's so nice to meet you.
Stevie: Hi! Thanks for coming! (reaches out to grab my hands)
Eric: I came all the way from Boston
Stevie: OH! BOSTON!!
Eric: I wanted to say thank you for doing this and thank you for all the wonderful music and I love this (pointing to the CD)
Stevie: Thank you so much! Have you seen the DVD yet? (cause I had 2 Cd's)
Eric: Yes it's amazing!
Stevie: Thank You! I worked really hard on it.
Eric: I hope to see you and Fleetwood Mac in Denver on my birthday
Stevie: Well come on down we still have 40 more dates!
Eric: Thanks!
Stevie: Thank You and bye (or something like that)
It was just absolutely amazing! I really could use some sleep though. Again well worth the trip!!

Hi well I have the time of my life. My husband and I got there around
9:30 in the morining we were fourth row. When it was time for Stevie he was first. She grabe his hands and asked how are you and he asked can you sign Fletch, the staff said no, but she did put a F and a little design which was cool he said he fell in love...
Now it is my turn, I was so nervous....I had a sister's of the moon shirt on and
I was telling Stevie the story and we were talking about it. Then before I left
I grabe her hand (She grabe my first) and said I love you Stevie and she looked into
my eyes and said thank you. I had it down pact what I was going to say and
I went blank...I got star struck, but Stevie was wonderful. I didn't know how
much time we had to talk to her...I am so glad I went and met so many wonderful
people.

Well between the angry Asian beyotch behind the desk and the old guy infront of me droning on about some African village (I mean really  ) - I almost got lost in the shuffle  But, I very politely stood my ground and she realized what had happened. She then spoke very briefly to me and I thanked her. I also told her that the guy before me was talking about some African village (I think he invited her there while kneeling at the desk) - she laughed and then was manhandled to the next person. I hated to be pushy and/or possibly hurt the really nice guy behind me's time with her, but there was no way I was being shovwd out of there after waiting seven hours without speaking to her. I was very polite about it. So, I am pretty sure there was no harm done and I believe she got what was going on.

I don't think many people were turned away. If so, they came very late, like after the signing had been under way.
She was really special with everyone. I saw her after she'd been doing it for about two and a half/three hours. She still took my hand in hers and made eye contact and said something very special to me.
It's corny, but I feel like I know what all the decades of just loving her and her music and her spirit were all about now. This is a truly special person. She's just ... well, worthy. I'm honored more than ever to call myself a Stevie Nicks fan.

Yeah, it was really loud up there and I think the "crew" was going crazy over nothing... the asian lady said to put my stuff on the table and I guess I didnt do it fast enough because she grabbed it out of my hands as I was about to place it down and she slammed them on the table... I couldnt believe it. But really, besides that everyone else was very nice the whole time and they were really accommodating to the fans. We got a TON more photos than I ever imagined because they said as long as the press had their cameras out snapping then we could too, so it was really great! Every second was worth it!

WOW.
Awesome. Just awesome.
Sweetie that's so sad. :distress:
Look at the bright side you got to meet her. But that woman Liz really needs to back off
Didn't she manage Madonna at one time or do I have the names confused. Sounds familiar.
Same woman.
OMG she looks absolutely stunning. I am dying of jealousy and thrilled for those of you who were able to experience this.
(That outfit is very flattering, btw. Maybe she is a size 8 after all...)
No ****. She does look tiny in those pics.
In the crowd pic - I only recognize Patty & is that Strand? Who else is in the pic?
I f&*cking hate you. And by hate, I mean love.
Am I EVER going to live that down?!!!?!
No, Lucky, you're not. It's that or the pink hoodie.
 I knew that I just had to do it, even at the risk of perhaps weirding her out a bit. But I think she was just flattered.
I may have been able to get away with it even more so because I am a girl :p
Fantastic. Love it that she wasn't flustered or shocked at all.
Really? hadn't heard about this.
There obviously weren't any Canadians there then.

Yes, I was wondering about that. I didn't know if it meant her brother Chris or maybe Robin's brother. Since she had been talking about Robin at the same time.
She also said they had 40 more dates. So, that's more shows than we know about yet. Right?

she's totally magic!!! I met the woman in 1991 and she did the whole holding my hand with both of hers thing and I thought I was gonna die right there on the spot. Unbelievable. When I walked out of the green room I had the sensation that I was going to pass out. The people I was with kept asking me if I was OK. Chris Nicks has cancer??? That's sad :distress:
I am sad to hear about this. You know, I have been thinking for a while now that maybe those "bored" looks we are seeing on stage lately are just passing moments of sadness or concern for someone, I guess it might be him. I too am going through some family crises right now and is hard to stay focused on work/career stuff right now.
I am so glad she held people's hands. You know the gloves thing... it might be more of a "covering up my arms" because of air from the fans blowing on them on stage instead of a germ hand thing. Opening night, no arm gloves with the red dress, then we start seeing the fingerless gloves with the red dress. Just my mind wandering again....
Stevie is just so sweet and kind hearted.

I got on line outside around 8:30 am. I met two really great girls (Hi Oykamu)! who really helped the hours not seem so bad. There really weren't many "look alikes" around that I noticed. I think they originally wanted 2 look alikes, but I heard some complaints from a few guys that it wasn't fair to those with penises.
I was able to get a couple of pictures of Stevie when the press was snapping away. I was seated in the first seat of the second row, and a few people down had asked everyone in the area to stay seated when Stevie came out so we could all have the opportunity for photos. I was able to get a couple shots so I was happy. A minute or two later some people started to creap up to take photos which instigated some hysterical shouts of "Down in front". Ironic since those people who asked everyone to stay seated were standing on their chairs! LOL!
Didn't know what to say to Stevie. I didn't think I would be as nervous as I was. I got to hold her hands and I thanked her for the signing. I told her I thought it was wonderful how she visited the soldiers and brought them iPods, and asked her how to contribute. "Yes, yes" she said, "Talk to the girl over there in the black, my assistant Karen, she'll give you the details" and she called Karen over. Karen said that they accept donations through the Nicks fix, which I think was established here before. Stevie had started signing the next persons items so I just said "Thank you" as I was beginning to leave. She looked at me and thanked me for asking about the iPods and said "They (the soldiers) really, really need us".

That shawl was beautiful. So, while he looked nothing like Stevie, it was, I think the shawl. I was all but next to him while she was waiting, with the other two, by the escalator. he was so excited and I was for him. Who would not want that dream, which clearly his looking nothing like La Nicks made him have no expectation of dreaming. And, I remember when those two girls (one of which was the winner in silver) were like go put your shawl on, we want to see it - the rest is history.
Plus, he (Alex) is a really nice guy.

Wow - so you had a similar experience in that La Nicks totally realized what was going on and paused what she was doing and finished with you - gave you your due and proper so to speak. I think that shows that she was really alert and into this fan feast; she really wanted it to matter to everyone who waited. She really meant it when she said at the very beginning that she was "honored" that we were there for her (or something like that).

Alex is the very blond guy who was one of the three people (the two others were girls) who won the Stevie look alike contest and, therefore, got to meet La Nicks immediately prior to the signing. He is in the pics posted.
I think people are noting that he looks nothing like La Nicks, which is true. However, his shawl was stunning. Moreover, his personality was great, affable if you will. So, I think those two things, as opposed to actually looking like Stevie, got him in.
It is important to note that the "rules" of the contest were that the BN employess were looking all day for people who had characteristics of La Nicks, not really an actual look alike contest.
Again, I say kudos to Alex and I am happy for him, if not more than a little jealous :o

Was anyone successful about mentioning doing SOTM in concert to Stevie?
Probably not since it was so busy there, but thought I would ask.
I can not say enough how cool it is that Stevie finally has done one of these signings to connect with the fans beyond a concert setting.
Oh, and telling Stevie she needs to do a new album and we need her and then she saying she needs us... that means so much.
Damn, why Stevie has not received a key to a city somewhere, I will never know. She needs the key to Washington DC since she visits the soldiers so much.

When I got my ticket to the IZOD show, he told me "Ah, you deserved it!" and in this case, I am giving it right back - He deserved it!

I sent in some questions for her to answer on tonight's Jimmy Fallon show. In one I asked about SOTM... hopefully she'll answer it on air!

 wow, can you imagine if she answered something like that? Even if she says no, at least she would know there are fans out there that love that song done live.

Ok, I think this might be a rather long post, but I have so much to say about these past 2 days. I normally don't post much anymore, but a few people did ask me to write my story, so I will try my hardest . I am still on cloud nine. I was the original person who posted the thread about this signing. I knew that I had to be there. I originally wanted to be there monday, because since this was Stevie's first time doing a signing, I figured that it would be too crowded and I didn't want to pass up this once in a lifetime moment. When I first found out about this, I asked my boss for both monday and tuesday off. I was prepared to wait 2 days if I had to. The only thing I had to worry about was finding someone to take care of my mother. Those that know me, know that since last June, I have basicly given up my life to take care of my mom. She had a major stroke last June, on top of having triple by pass a few months before that. She can no longer walk, or do anything for herself. I also get up at 3 in the morning to get her showered and dressed because her kidneys are basicly gone, and she has dialysis 3 times a week. I now have to work shows around her schedule, but she wanted me to do this. I couldn't get anyone to take care of her tuesday morning and get her to dialysis, so I couldn't leave for the city until 5:30 that morning. I was nervous, because I was told the night before that people had already started lining up. I finally made it into the city a little after 6. Once I made it to the store, I started to feel a little bit better. There was only a dozen or so people in front of me, so I knew that I would get my chance to meet Stevie. I was ok with the fact that we were told that no pictures would be allowed. I was also expecting just a half a second with Stevie. I would find out later, how wrong I was about that. I planned on meeting a few friends that morning, and since I got there first, I started calling asking how much longer it would be before they got there. About an hour later my friend Linda showed up. I wanted to wait with her, so I let the few people behind me, go in front of me. That really was the only fair thing to do. A few hours had passed and we were allowed into the store, 10 at a time to buy our cd/dvd's and then told to go up to the fourth floor where we were given our seats. I was seated in the second row, center and had a perfect view of the stage where Stevie would be signing in a few hours. I was surprised at how orgainized the whole event turned out to be. We were allowed to leave our seats and roam the store. Everyone was so nice and we all watched out for each other. I smoke, so I did go out several times during the day to smoke and to make a few calls back home. It was like a big Stevie party and it gave me the chance to get caught up with so many freinds that I haven't seen in several years. I really felt so much love that day. It amazes me how many people knew who I was, by seeing me over the years at so many shows accross the country. While I was waiting outside, a lovely man from from Austraila said that he remembered me from a show at Jones Beach several years ago. It was also great to be able to spend some more time with whom I call my partner in crime, Pattie.
Several hours had passed by this time, and it was great that they played Stevie while we were waiting. The time was getting closer. I decided to take out my Stevie shawl that I was lucky enough to have gotten several years ago when I was living on the west coast. Something in the back of my mind told me to bring my shawl with me that morning. I have worn it a few times over the years to some shows, so I decided to break it out of my bag and put it on. I was getting excited, so I put it on and several people came up to me wanting to take pictures with me. It was all just in the fun of the day. One of my friends whom I was with, I hadn't seen for awhile and after looking around for her, I saw her talking to Liz Rosenberg. I decided to go up to my friend and also say hello to Liz. Liz was very sweet and we both had similar rings on. She liked mine and of course I loved her ring. It's basicly a knuckle ring, and I was given mine several years ago, when someone walked up to me and said you are my knight in shining armour and put it on my finger. I thought that was such a romantic thing, and I have always treasured it since. By this time it's a little after 6 and I decide to take my seat once again. One of my other long lost friends came up from behind me and told me to come with her and that we would be meeting Stevie and would be having our picture taken with her. For a second, I didn't believe her. I started crying right then and there, and didn't stop for 20 minutes. I was again introduced to Liz and I couldnt stop shaking. I had to run back to my seat and tell my friends what was about to happen. We had a few minutes before we would have our picture taken, so I called home and cried to my mom, who was so happy for me. She was the one who bought me my first set of Stevie tickets back in June of 83 for The Wild Heart tour. It was a pair of front row tickets for the Meadowlands show, and it was my graduation gift. Anyway, I know I am getting off track here, but I still cry thinking about all that happened that night. Stevie finally came up, early I might add and we were brought to the side, where we waited for the press to take Stevie's picture. I was one of the 3 lucky few whom were chosen to have our picture taken. I really thought that we would pose for 1 picture and be taken away, but one by one, the three of us were introduced to Stevie. I was last. I can not say enough great things about Liz. She really made me feel comforatble and helped calm me down before I was brought before Stevie. The three of us were introduced and away the photographers went, taking our picture. It really is scary up there, all you hear is look this way, look that way, but meanwhile, you really are blinded by all the lights going off in your face. I told Ashley that I would give Stevie a message for her, which I did, while our picture was being taken. It seemed like time stood still while we were up there. I can now see why Stevie doesn't like the flashes at concerts. You really can't see a thing while they are going off, and for someone with bad eyesight, it makes it that much harder. Everything that I have wanted to say to Stevie over the years, at that moment, I couldn't remember. As nervous as Iwas, Stevie calmed me down until they whisked her off to start the signing. I was then asked to say a few words for Entertainment Tonight. All I remember was shaking and crying uncontralably at that point. The three of us were asked to also write our names and addresses down so that we would be able to get copies of our photos. It took me a few minutes to realize that I still had to go up and get my cd/dvd's signed and that I would again have another moment with her. When it was my time to get go up, they stopped the line so that Entertainment Tonight could interview her. All this was happening while I was on the stage waiting for her to sign my stuff. I didn't mind waiting at all. When they finished, I went up and once again, Stevie took my hands, and somehow she knew, actually I think everyone in the store knew by that point how shocked and emotional I was, and she calmed me down again. I did say a few things, and I also told her which other shows I was planning on attending. I also brought along a beautiful painting that someone very dear to me, gave me, that I will always treasure. I knew that she wouldn't sign anything other than the cd, but I had to try anyway. She loved the painting and it will be signed at another date. I really thought that my legs would give out right then and there, but somehow, some guardian angel was watching me and somehow got my feet to move so I could slowly get off the stage. Everything was moving in slow motion at that point and so many people were so happy that I had that moment with Stevie. Once I was barely able to contain myself, I wanted to get out of that store. I do need to thank everyone who was there in the store that night for making me feel so loved, and just to have so many people happy for me, really overwhelms me. I still cry when I tell what happened this night. With everything that is personally going on in my life, this moment will help me thru it. I also want to thank Pattie for coming with me that night and today as well. Again, for everyone that really knows me, knows that besides Stevie, my other favorite is Olivia Newton-John. If I could trade places with anyone in this world, it would be to trade with Steve Real, Stevie's vocal coach of many years, and he also works as Olivia's back-up singer. Steve has been so sweet to me over the years at the many Stevie/Fleetwood Mac/ Olivia shows I have seen. Again, I am all over the place with this review. I also need to say that once I did manage to make it out of the store, some press people were outside and asked me to show my painting and stand in front of the line so that they could get some pictures. While doing that, I also was able to see a few more long lost freinds, and I was able to exchange emails, ect. It was weird also walking away from the store, having people thru-out the city recognize me on the street from this night. I was both flying high and ready to drop. I hadn't slept the night before, so I had basicly been up close to 40 hours by that point, and I knew that I had to try and get some sleep if I wanted to get up in time this morning to meet Olivia Newton-John. I found out last week that she was going to be on Good Morning America this morning. And as luck would have it, my brother happens to be good friends with the VP of ABC here in the city. So I was given VIP tickets to the taping this morning. It was neat being able to see the studio and get a tour while the show was on air. Anyway, they knew I was there for Olivia, so during her segment, they had her stand in front of me so that I would be behind her during her short interview. For some reason, she doesn't make me nervous at all. She really does have a heart of gold, and I haven't seen her in a few months, so it was nice to say hello again and finally meet her husband. I did manage to film her while she met Cloris Leachman. I thought I would start laughing when Cloris came out. It was a private little joke between me and Pattie, but she really amazed me. Of course I loved her on the Mary Tyler Moore show, but my all time favorite of hers was High Anxiety. I loved her as Nurse Diesel. Anyway, after the show was finished being filmed, the audience is given the chance to have photos taken with the hosts of the show. I really didn't want a picture with Diane Sawyer, so I asked Pattie if she wanted one, and she didn't, so we went out the front door. I should have stayed, because I didn't know that Olivia was still in the studio backsatge and that was the way me and Pattie should have left the show. I decided that since Olivia left right after her segment, that she was gone, but I decided to still have my smoke around the side entrance where the stage door is. I did ask if Olivia left yet, and they said no. I should also say that I did say hello to Olivia from Steve and she knew that he was on tour right now with Stevie. I forgot to ask her if she was going to any shows this tour. Oh well. Anyway, she finally comes out, and the only people waiting for her are the usual ebay scum who only come with several pictures that they only sell on ebay. One was rather rude to her, but she handles herself well. I did have a picture of us that is the only one I havent gotten signed of the two of us and asked her to sign it. I didn't have a sharpie, and I politely asked if she could borrow the sharpie so that I could have my picture signed, and they refused. That is why I think they are scum. They got their multipe signitures and left. She did manage to get a sharpie and she always signs my pictures different than she does others. She really has been very sweet to me over the years, even asking how my mom was. I had a rare cd with me as well and gave it to Pattie so that she could have something signed. Pattie means alot to me, so of course I wanted her to have it, and since I asked Olivia to sign it for Pattie, she did. After she finished signing, she didn't get into a car but walked to her hotel and grabbed something to eat at the front window. I really couldn't have asked for a better 2 days. I have been put thru so much over the years, and especially these past few months. I normally see several shows every tour, but this time, I really have to choose because I have to be at home 24/7. I also want to say how much I love my mom, because I also want to say, that she knows that I have given up my life to take care of her. I really haven't been out much since this all happened. I might have gone out a total of 10 nights, so I needed this more than anyone can realize. Once I got home this afternoon, I found out that nobody once got my my up for the bathroom, nor feed her or gave her her meds. I feel so guilty now about leaving to do this for myself, but everytime I called her to check in on her, she just wanted to make sure that I was having a great time. I realize how lucky I have been these past 2 days, and feel really blessed that I was given this time and was chosen to have my time with both Stevie and Olivia. I honestly wish that everyone here will have the same chance that I was given with Stevie. This really helps me more than anyone here will ever know. And finally, thank you Ashley for making me feel that when things get bad, and I feel like giving up because it is sometimes too much for me to handle, that I really have nothing to complain about and that I can and will get thru this and that I have really nothing to complain about. You really are an angel. I love you for that. And lastly, Kathy, I wish you were right besides me, and I know you were in spirit. I will try to post what few pictures I did manage to take later this week.

I just finally read this entire thread. I again need to thank everyone single person on this board and everyone at the store who made this a night to remember. I will always treasure this moment. And much love and light to those who were so kind in these posts about me. It truly touched my heart and yes, I did cry reading a few of them. I really felt the love and pure happiness for me. I am so blessed.

I watched you talking to your mom. Your hands shook and it looked like you were crying. It was cool to see someone so elated.
Also, I believe La Nicks' first words to you were "Hey Babe!" - at least that is what it looked like she said

So I just got back to Boston from NYC. Sooo much fun!! I'm not going to repeat what's already been said, except to say that the whole experience was just fantastic. I think B&N did a great job managing all the people all day. SN was so sweet and seemed excited to be there. And even with all the noise, she made sure to make your signing personal. I have some pictures, but they haven't made it onto the computer yet.
I'd like to thank Pattie for taking one for the team by getting some Sharpie on her jacket. SN actually put down the Sharpie before she took my hands and I'd like to think it's cause she felt bad she got it on the sleeve of Pattie's jacket!! Alex, it was nice to meet you. I'm glad you had such a special night. Jason, very nice to meet you. Hope to see you again soon!! :wavey: Curtis, you are the best. I Wild Heart You!! :xoxo:

P.S. Did anyone get the off mic comments about how she felt like a teacher behind the desk, then tried to throw someone out (kidding of course), appologized and blew kisses?? This also could have been mentioned earlier in the thread and I missed it.

ALEX,
THANK YOU! Your angels and planets and magic things were clearly all lined up! What a DREAM COME TRUE. WOW. Congrats to you on making history (& TV) at this rare Stevie event! LOVE the SHAWL! You must compare it with the one she placed on Ashley in Scranton a few years ago!
You know, this touching quote about your mom and how much she knows/knew what's important to you is just awesome! No matter her condition, I would give the rest of my life for another day with mine ~ and she'd be dancing with me in the second row of a Stevie concert :]
"One of my other long lost friends came up from behind me and told me to come with her and that we would be meeting Stevie and would be having our picture taken with her.
Honestly, I hope you don't EVER come down from this one!
Rock on,
Jamie

I hope all you guys that went to Barnes & Noble know how much we have enjoyed reading and following along via your special stories. amoscascott/Alex, your story was amazing! I am happy for you in particular, but also for everyone that had that special moment the other night. There's lots of Stevie karma flying around here the past few nights, and it's not even a CONCERT! That's pretty cool! Pattie, thank you for your photos, thanks for those that have posted/embedded videos. I remember a few months ago everyone was pretty down about Stevie--she didn't seem to have any interest in making more music, she came off as being down on her fans, angry at them, etc. I think this "book signing" really helped her reconnect with her fan base. Congrats to all of you who reached out to her, and made the effort to let her know we are wanting & waiting for the next album. I think it was good for everyone.

QUOTE=amoscascott;811652]Ok, I think this might be a rather long post, but I have so much to say about these past 2 days.
I will try to post what few pictures I did manage to take later this week.[/QUOTE]

If this is what I think your talking about. I dont think she was talking about being a teacher. She was talking to ym friend Eric. She caught him taking pictures and what not... and she was like "YOU! YOUR OUTTA HERE" and she pointed to the door and laughed it off and blew him a kiss.

If this is what I think your talking about. I dont think she was talking about being a teacher. She was talking to ym friend Eric. She caught him taking pictures and what not... and she was like "YOU! YOUR OUTTA HERE" and she pointed to the door and laughed it off and blew him a kiss.
Yeah, just before she pointed at him she said, "I feel like a teacher sitting behind this desk." I was wondering if there was any audio of it...I saw video somewhere up to the pointing part, but couldn't hear anything. We were all taking pictures at that point. So much for putting our cameras away after the press stuff. I'll try to get mine up tomorrow night. Although, they aren't nearly as good as the ones already up.
