Woo Hoo! and Thanks!

[GoS]

I have no idea, but I heard that Smile at You demos were recorded between Tusk and Mirage.

Thanks. Does that mean that it was her "Gift of Screws?"

[David]

Practically everybody has different "information" on all this stuff. If you combine what everybody reports ("I heard that ..."), you are left with the exact same "Smile at You" demo being recorded in 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 2001, 2002, & 2003.

Remember how Ken Caillat once told us that Fleetwood Mac never even recorded it at all?

[GypsyGirl15]

I just looove the "Smile At You" demo. Fantastic!

[macpai]

I've gotten so much great stuff in this thread, that I'm happy to finally have something to share!

This is the last show of the GoS tour and it is from the Nokia Theater in NYC, so the sound is fabulous!

Missing Links: Demos, Alternates, and Outtakes - With Lots of Descriptions!
The audio is not perfect; sometimes it sounds a little muted, sometimes it cuts from stereo to mono (as it does in Silver Springs for a few seconds), and sometimes the song cuts out abruptly at the end. For the most part, it sounds fine.

Monday Morning (http://www.mediafire.com/?faqedmtyzoi) - sounds way stripped down. Lindsey's solo at the end is there. Other than that, that's all I have to say about this one.

Say You Love Me (http://www.mediafire.com/?dnzmdmzdzim) - interesting intro. There are people talking in the background (I think it might be Lindsey) throughout the entire song. The majority of the verses and chorus consists of Chris and Stevie going "do do la la la.." Definitely unfinished, or maybe they forgot all of their lines. The ending has a Stevie "yeaaahhh!" and then a break, then you hear "one, two, three, four" and Lindsey's solo comes in. There is no "fallin' fallin' fallin" at the end; it ends abruptly.

Second Hand News (http://www.mediafire.com/?jnqgztmvwmy) - Starts out with Lindsey counting. The vocals sound a lot like the album version but John's bass is much more prominent. There is no electric solo at the end.

Silver Springs (http://www.mediafire.com/?y2zdzednw2g) - I've never heard this version before! The guitar sounds so much more country-ish to me. There are no background vocals during the "time cast a spell on you" part. I like this one.

Songbird (http://www.mediafire.com/?1cwmzywjmid) - Starts out with a guy saying "Songbird." During the first few piano bars, Chris tosses in an "oooooh". I can hear an acoustic guitar, playing softly. I don't know if this is in the album version, to be honest! If it is, I've never noticed it before!

After the "I love you like never before" there is a more piano playing and an extra verse:

You smile
And you make me feel good inside
It's a feeling
And it's so hard to hide

Dreams (http://www.mediafire.com/?jytyj4l2wj0) - This version starts out with Lindsey counting. Everything but the drums on this version sounds a lot more different than the album version. The vocals are missing a few "ooo"s and they exclude background vocals/Stevie harmonizing with herself. Lindsey doesn't do his solo after the first chorus, and Stevie says, "sing the verse" and delves into the second verse. Instead of "crystal visions," it's "crystal changes." When Stevie sings "it's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams," John and Mick don't do the little syncopation as they do in the album version. All in all, an interesting version of Dreams!

Watch Devil (http://www.mediafire.com/?xzjzdjzmnin) - There's quite a bit of tape hiss at the beginning of this, but it subsides.

Sisters of the Moon (http://www.mediafire.com/?ymmnmncwznz) - Sounds almost the same as the album version, but this has a few differences.

Sara (http://www.mediafire.com/?l4lz0wzt3yv) - Another alternate take of Sara.

I Know I'm Not Wrong (http://www.mediafire.com/?xtix5nuhlmn) - This is an instrumental version. Do I hear a glockenspiel? Or is that a music box?

Take A Little Time (http://www.mediafire.com/?mbdzvy4im1r) - This is, essentially, Lindsey playing guitar and mumbling to himself in a falsetto.

Thank you Brian J. I have never heard these versions of this song. It was fun to listen to them, and to the instrumental versions you also posted.

I have not listened to Tusk recently. What is the song "Never Forget" ?

4.Never Forget (Instrumental)
http://www.mediafire.com/?djomyzt3je3

Is it on Tusk? I like the rhythm.

Rate-A-Record - American Bandstand
"It has a good beat and you can dance to it."
Rate-A-Record, where three kids would listen and then rate a new song, was a very popular segment. Rankings went from 35 to 98.

I'd give it a 90.

Holy crap. I just listened to these for the first time. Thanks for posting them!

Little Lies alt (from disc 2) sounds so weird. I thought it was Big Love at first! The vocals in the chorus sounds more Stevie-ish than the album version, imo. The only thing that bums me out... where's the Big Love love? :]

[fleetwoodtrick]

I was just looking through some download threads today to see if I'd missed anything... and I realized I had indeed missed the Tusk show.

Moz~ Thank you very much for this! From what I've downloaded, it sounds great! However, could you please repost Not That Funny? I can't get it to download.
Thanks much!

[Gypsycat999]

Hey kids. (Heheb:laugh:)

So I had this crazy idea... that we should share all of our live shows. :) We could start with the White Album tour, wait a week, then start a Rumours tour thread. What do you guys think? I'll jump into the demo posting right now though! :D

*Edit*
And thanks for all of these, Moz!

Hey, wonderful idea !!! You should definitely do it! And thx for all the stuff to everyone!!!! I love ths thread...

[EveryHour]

You guys, I am sorry that I'm such a computer dumbass, but I need help. I already revisited a Chit Chat thread in which I got some answers about this topic, but I still have questions. I will be happy to start sharing some of my umpteen boots too, if you can help me!

I do not understand how to download the tracks listed here to my computer. When I follow any of the links to Mediafire, I assume I then click on "Save to My Files"? When I do so, it just says "working, please wait". I thought maybe I was just being impatient, so I walked away for about 2 hours, but it was still like that. I have a strong, cable internet connection, and I also registered with Mediafire, so neither of those things are the issue.

Please walk me through it like a kid....I am mostly clueless about computers and don't know much of the lingo. I graduated high school just before the internet became mainstream and computers took over in the classroom, so I barely missed learning all this stuff! Thank you so much!!!

Once I get this down, we'll tackle the process of uploading my stuff.;) As I said, I will be happy to share in exchange for your teaching!

:wavey:

[michelej1]

Yeah, and he's using a deep voice too. It's funny. "When you find your sweetheart in the arms of your best friend . . .Michele

Sadly, Hold Me is missing from Mediafile. I thought you should know.

Huh. Let's see if this time it works... http://www.mediafire.com/?yyzkyyyozgo

As for how to download from Mediafire, when you click on "Download File" it should open a new window/tab and on the left in a little box it should say "Click Here to Start Download." Sometimes a "Processing File" or whatever will show up for a few seconds. After you click to download, it will say "Your download is starting.." and a box should show up asking you where you would like it to be saved, or whatever it does when you go to download a picture/song to your computer. I hope this helps!

[Skyveris]

Huh. Let's see if this time it works... http://www.mediafire.com/?yyzkyyyozgo

I successfully downloaded the song this time. All of the songs you've uploaded are of excellent quality and this song is no exception. You do great work. Thank you.

Moz ~ Thank You so much for posting all these Great Gems, My computer crashed a year ago, and I lost some of my Stevie and Mac demo's and outtakes... I was wondering if you would have a mp3 of Stevie's version of "A Sunday Kind of Love" (cover of Etta James) that she sang at the Walden Woods Benefit, around 2002... I have a version of it, but the one I have, the sound is terrible and sounds like your listening to it thru a tin can... I would love to have a better sounding quality version of it, if you or anyone else might have a copy to share... Thank You, so much... in Advance...

I have loved looking at your web site for a long time now. It was always a great reference point to what I wanted for my collection. I still love cds. I still haven't burned anything yet. Your so lucky to have all those that you have. Someone I'd sent $$ to was suppose to send me cds/pic's..they took the $$ and ran so to speak. That was last Sept. (It was for Stevie/Mac stuff too). Anyway, I guess you didn't need to know all of that. Anyway, back when I first started on the net in like '01...I'd always loved your demos/web site and your photos website. Awesome both (yours and Sararhannion were the best one's by far)......thanks for all the hard work on them. I love them just for reading them. Take care!!!

[GypsyMommy]

Oh wow. You all rock. I lost all of my demos/outtakes/live when my ex dropped my external harddrive on purpose during a fight (He knew it would kill me, the only thing on there was all of my music and photos of our son!). Thanks to you guys, this replaces what I had, and then some with a few exceptions.
The only things I am missing from my collection, that I know of are two SYW shows (Boston 9/24/03 (Audience, not LIB)& Mansfield 5/28/04) and one Stevie show - 6/8/05 (Mansfield, MA)... I would be incredibly indebted to anyone who has these shows, and would share them.

Hi Thanks so much for uploading this show!! Great sound quality on this one!!
I saw Stevie & Don at Post Gazette Pavillion near Pittsburgh in 2005!
It was amazing... it was the first time I ever saw Beauty and the Beast live!!

One problem with the show you uploaded, though...

the track that is listed as Outside the Rain/ Dreams is actually another Gold Dust Woman... could you reupload OTR/ drms pretty please:D!!

Hey Moz/Rhiya,

Anyone have any other TITN sessions or outtakes? One the web, some fans claim to have some others, such as a TITN-era Juliet demo, and some alternate takes of final tracks. I seem to have most but not all.

Also, does anyone have any other versions of "What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You" other than the one in the TITN sessions?

Oh yeah, and you two both rock :]

- Spike

[David]

Anyone have any other TITN sessions or outtakes? One the web, some fans claim to have some others, such as a TITN-era Juliet demo, and some alternate takes of final tracks. I seem to have most but not all. Here's Fleetwood Mac's "Juliet."

Here's "Big Love" in some early form, from the boot 3-CD set "Missing Links."

www.sendspace.com/file/4lc4c7

Also, does anyone have any other versions of "What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You" other than the one in the TITN sessions?I have grave doubts that that's from the Tango sessions. The song title was mentioned once in a Fleetwood Mac print interview in the mid 1980s in relation to its being a potential inclusion on the album, but if the studio track we have is Fleetwood Mac, I need to clean the wax out of my ears. Instrumentally, it sounds like Stevie Nicks solo.

Atlantic City. And I could have sworn hearing it on Youtube recently... although it might have been taken down as a result of the mass Warner Brothers artist blackout.

I have it but i cant figure out how to upload it to a post. i went into managements attachements and uploaded it, but it came back saying the file was invalid with an uploading error message. Does anyone know how i can post a song that is in my itunes? thanks

[fleetwoodtrick]

Thanks so much Lisa! I didn't have like, any of that!

And GypsyCat ~ That is a mirage tour rehearsal. I posted the Christine singing Gypsy track a while back. Thank you, because that Gypsy track was the only one I had of the rehearsals!

First, you have to find out where your iTunes music is saved. Mine is saved under

Music>iTunes>iTunes Music>

Then it would probably be something like Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac. Then you click on the album and see if you can find the track.

Okay, then go to mediafire.com. You can either make an account or not. Let me know when you get there, and I can help you out. (Either here or in a PM)

This is not the video of the Atlanta Silver Springs but its a good one. very emotional and stevie and lindsey are in each others faces at the end..... Gave me chills. is there a video for the Atlantat one?

David dude,

You totally rock- thanks so much. Hard to come across this stuff but I know you have a motherload :D

I have grave doubts that that's from the Tango sessions.
Good call- as soon as I read this, I listened to the track more closely (I'd only listened to a couple seconds here and there, to the so-called Tango Sessions)
and it's really not very FM'y, or indeed very similar to Tango work at all, even Stevie's Tango work that got used.

Thanks again man.

Thanks, Ricoh

I agree, that this version of "Stand Back" sounds different from the others I have heard, and I think is the best! So immediate. I feel that if this performance was on this Saturday (save for the dance break) it would be a hit!

What happened with that? Did Stevie's voice just give out? Sounds like she was bringing it up 'til that point.

Atlantic City. And I could have sworn hearing it on Youtube recently... although it might have been taken down as a result of the mass Warner Brothers artist blackout.

Thank you so much to everyone who has posted and shared any of these wonderful rarities and collections here!! Your generosity is amazing!

I'm wondering, does anyone have audio of Gold Dust Woman on the current Unleashed tour? Actually, it seems like she's changed the ending from the beginning of the tour. I saw them in Chicago and then just this past week I saw them in Milwaukee. GDW was truly haunting; I've never seen it performed as it was this last week. I'd love to had audio of this version if anyone has one.

Thank you all again!! :)

Question: What the hell is Watch Devil about? I was listening to it the other day and it made no sense. "you're just a watch chain"....wtf?
Of course, I know a lot of Stevie's music doesn't make perfect sense...but this one is just waaaaaaaaaaay out in left field for me.

It's about Mick. "The keeper of the time is blind." She also talks about his clothes and his pocket watch, the back story of which I can't recall right now.

I believe this was one of the Coffee Plant demos. Mick didn't even exist in Stevie's brain then.

Two more possibilities I've seen on this site (in other threads)
Acoustic/Piano Silver Springs:

Piano (poor quality demos) Silver Springs:

I'll check my SS songs when I get home (I'm at school right now). Do you know how long it was, etc.?

In terms of length, I'm guessing between 4-6 minutes. It could be a little longer. Ahh I wish I had more details for you...

There are really only two very distinctive aspects of this recording. 1. It's very slow and haunting, probably all piano and very vocal-oriented. 2. The melody is quite different in the "time cast a spell on you..." portion of the song. It slows down from the previous verses and she almost sings it tauntingly.

It's one of the single most beautiful things I have heard in my entire life. I am GOING to find this, damnit!

Thank you thank you thank you for trying!

[daniellaaarisen]

Piano (poor quality demos) Silver Springs:

http://www.mediafire.com/?eyj1mnjnymz

THIS IS IT! But mine was significantly better quality... I'm sure it's the same, though. That's so weird-- they sound identical other than Stevie's voice is a bit smoother in the one I'm thinking of and the recording quality is better.

But this is perfect-- thank you so much. This is the closest I've gotten and probably will get to finding the one I once had.

I've loved them since I was 2 years old (literally-- "Don't Stop" was the first song I ever tried to sing along to, says my mother) and 15 years later, I am still often smacked in the face with how phenomenal they are. It surprises me every day.

Thank you so much for these, I just loved the Master of "All The Kings Horses". I hate to ask because everyone has already been so generous, but would anyone happen to have any of the Masters of "Sanctuary". "Sanctuary" is my favorite Stevie demo (other than "Dreams" and "Silver Springs" it's my favorite Stevie song actually) and I would just love have to have a good quality version of it. It would mean so much to me if you have it. Thank you so much if you do.

[goldustsongbird]

not Stevie or FM, but a great live cover of Gold Dust Woman by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. She trades vocals with Warren Haynes of Gov't Mule and it's pretty kick ass. http://www.zshare.net/audio/6194855109df2709/

Fleetwood Mac "Rhiannon" live 1976, NJ. Thats all I know. I have 73 Rhiannon's and I didn't have this one, so...download at your own risk.

Stevie Nicks "Rhiannon" from KLOS radio station--Not gonna lie, not her best. She sounds tired as hell.

Fleetwood Mac Unleashed Tour 2009--"Storms" or "I Have Always Been a Storm" depending on the day. Good quality. Not sure stats. Has intro.

I am so happy & excited after reading this thread, so today I immediately went out & bought my first ipod , I am very new to this high tech stuff, so my question is, can I download all of this amazing music on my ipod, & also burn onto a CD???. Thank you all soooooo much for sharing this treasure chest of music..:blob1:

[skuncles]

Yeah all you have to do is download all the stuff to your computer. Then load it all into iTunes, from there it can go right into your iPod or you can burn a CD.

Have fun!

Thanks, Dreamz19 (I guess I need to get up to speed w/ Mediafire). I was looking for this version since its got a cool little instrumental jam at the end -which the band dropped after the Rumours tusk tour. The Dance version always seemed kinda bland to me...

[Dreamz19]

No problem. Yeah...mediafire is great because the links don't expire. I can still go back to old threads and download music months afterwards.

And I agree with you about the song... love this version more than "The Dance" myself.

I do have them but since it's officially released material (albeit in video form) I'm reluctant to post them... I used a program called AOA DVD Ripper to extract the music from my DVDs, maybe that's an option for you? I think the trial version is fully functional for 30 days :wavey:

What's the board's policy on this, mods?

PS Welcome to the board!

Thanks for this! I love Joan of Arc and You & and I Pt. 1! :blob2:

It's so much better than Part 2

I guess this comes up a lot when just a dvd is commercially released without separate audio. It's probably best not to post, simply to be on the safe side.

Thanks for checking.

http://beehivecandy.blogspot.com/2010/02/fleetwood-mac-tour-rehearsal-1979.html

This is part of a series of tour rehearsals undertaken by Fleetwood Mac over three days on a sound stage in Los Angeles.

The rehearsals took place from the 18th to 20th October 1979, and there was an audience in attendance for the 'warm up' performance made up of friends and family.

The rehearsals were filmed using a single camera video shot except on the 19th October where multi camera material exists. DVD boots of the rehearsals are in circulation, the sound quality on some is not to good and picture quality even worse. This is audio only from one of the sessions and is a whole lot better quality.

Source: Soundboard.

Sound Quality: Very good stereo mp3@192kbps.

Genre: Rock, pop rock, blues rock.

Set: Part of Rehearsal Set.

Set List:

1-Oh Well.
2-Dreams.
3-Not That Funny.
4-Rhiannon.
5-Over & Over.
6-Never Gonna Make It.
7-You Making Loving Fun.
8-I'm Afraid.
9-World Turning

Band Line Up:

Lindsey Buckingham - guitar, vocals
Stevie Nicks - vocals
Christine McVie - keyboard, vocals
John McVie - bass
Mick Fleetwood - drums

Links: Official Site.

Comments:

These rehearsals were in preparation for the bands tour in support of the album Tusk.

Tusk remains one of Fleetwood Mac's most ambitious albums to date, although selling only four million copies worldwide. This, in comparison to the huge sales of Rumours, inclined the label to deem the project a failure, laying the blame squarely with Linsey Buckingham himself. Mick Fleetwood, however, blames the album's relative failure on a major U.S. radio station's playing all 20 tracks in their entirety prior to release, thus allowing mass home taping. In addition, Tusk was a double album, which increased its retail price in stores compared with that of a single album.

The band embarked on a huge 18-month tour to support and promote Tusk. They travelled extensively across the world, including the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, France, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. In Germany they shared the bill with reggae superstar Bob Marley. It was on this world tour that the band recorded music for the Fleetwood Mac Live album, which was released at the end of 1980.

Don't buy bootlegs! I hate bootleg sellers. I'm sure it's just the backstage video of Stevie singing Wild Heart that's on youtube. The entire Landover show is also on youtube. She didn't sing Wild Heart live at any show.

wow this thread is amazing. I really loved the rough cut of Say You Love Me. It was great to hear them really rough and unpolished.

Someone mentioned a demo version of Dreams with McVie on lead vocals? Has that been posted. I would LOVE to hear that!!

Thanks!! This thread has kept me up way bast my bed time!

Out of curiosity? Why would they record songs with different lead vocalists?

[ButterCookie]

That's a really good question, I wish I knew. I've seen it done before, most noteably with an early Blondie Demo I recently got hold of (The keyboard player, Jimmy Destri, does the lead vocals instead of Debbie Harry). My guess would be to see how they soud or just for fun? Don't hold me to that though, I'm sure someone else could give you a properly valid reason

A very rare performance, since the song has never been performed live in the context of Fleetwood Mac; in fact, it's the only song on Rumours that hasn't been in a set list.

As much as i love that song, really i do. I've always had this resentment towards it because if it hadn't gotten on Rumours, "Silver Springs" would have taken its plac:shrug:e.

Does anyone have a good quality version of Christine singing Gypsy? Or can anyone clean up the one I have? I adore it but the hiss gets right up my nose. I'd be eternally greatful :xoxo:

im not sure if this is the right post to ask in but since there is so much awesome stuff here, I thought maybe someone might have what im looking for.
Specifically im looking for some live show audio recordings from the Time tour when Bekka was fronting the group? I know there are one or two of these out there but I havent been able to find them.

I know they are available on torrent sites, but I cant understand how to use torrents, too complicated for me. So im hoping to find them in MP3 format.

Hello everyone, This is a great thread. I have something to share:
Its Fleetwood Mac Live in Nashville May 21 1977. Many of you probably have this already but maybe some do not.... http://hotfile.com/dl/30449691/1ac9b75/Nashville_May_21_1977.rar.html

I have also been searching for more information on a setlist or bootleg of this performance of Go Your Own Way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GN2kpBoFs4
Does anyone have information on this performance? It looks like its a Rehearsal from from the Midnight Special in 1976? Or could it be 1977? This performance of Dreams also looks like a Rehearsal from around the same time? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEi7GPkxfsE&feature=related

I believe those videos ae rehersals for the tour because on several different tv shows they've said that they are so i guess they are just the rehersals
