I'll only accept her if she amputates both legs at the knees plays slide guitar and sings Elvis tunes and Elmore James covers.
Pffffft!! :D:D:D Sorry, couldn't keep a straight face.
You know, I was about to revoke your membership in the male gender. Anybody who could trim down legs like that needs his eyes examined.

Yes, Spinner described it in a way that was sure to get fans' back up, by saying Sheryl would replace Chris and saying that she'd breathe new life into the band, as if she is some kind of savior.
I'm sure when Sheryl makes a follow up statement, she will negate that viewpoint and say she is not replacing anyone and not saving the band.
The talking-behind-the-back of Mick and Ray Lindsey was petty...and Ray's laughing at Lindsey when Mick quotes Lindsey's view about the music how some obscure artist was content to make the statement and not get rich was petty...
But it made me laugh and it reminded me strongly of that Tusk footage when Lindsey storms out and says he wants french food, not a cheese omelet (one of my favorite band moments). What I like about that is how the band works. Christine doesn't want Lindsey to go, but she doesn't say that directly to him. She kind of grabs him and runs her fingers through his hair and tries to stop him that way. Instead of asking Lindsey why he is leaving, she addresses her question to Mick and wonders why Lindsey gets to go if they all have to stay. Mick doesn't say anything to Lindsey, but when Lindsey is out of the room, he mimics him, whining, "I don't want a cheese omelet. I want french food."
I thought it showed how the band members seem to be scared really to confront each other, so they are roundabout. It was true during that Tusk footage and could also be glimpsed in DR.

That's one thing: even if Sheryl doesn't join the band and just does some new songs with them, the fans are going to benefit because she is sexy and I think that's going to come through in the band photos and (hopefully) video. I think the record company will give FM better marketing with Sheryl there and we'll get a concept video, which I would like to have one more time, before they enter the old folks' home.

This line up has been a staple for 33 years basically, minus Time years--which was a critical and commerical flop. That is much, much longer than any other line up.
Other critical and/or commercial flops of that era: Street Angel and Out Of The Cradle.
Actually, now that you mention it, the "Rumours" really only worked together for about 13 years. Your point is still valid, just not as pronounced. They made a butt load of money, and nothing strokes an ego like money.
For example, you wouldn't change the line-up of the Rolling Stones at this late date.
Just ask Bill Wyman
I could give many examples of other bands that you just ouldn't change their dynamics. It would be suicide.
Please. There are a TON of bands that change their chemistry and survive just beautifully. The Allman Bros. fired Dickey Betts and are just fine. Yes has had even more changes than Fleetwood Mac and were able to have success with different line-ups. It HAS been done.
Why mess with their overall success and tarnish their image now?! This isn't what I want Fleetwood Mac's last hoorah to be.
It beats having their last show ever be at the DTE Energy Center...
The last several albums have been getting worse by the album, bordering on the edge of corny in some instances.
Yeah, but I can say the same about Christine, too. Some of her songs had some cheese or were just plain bland. But, I find most of the ex-Maccers solo albums to be tedious at times.
Fleetwood Mac is an iconic band that Sheryl Crow can ride to revive her floundering career. Well, I'm sorry, but I'm just not for it. I say save Fleetwood Mac's legacy, not Sheryl Crow's career.
Yeah, Sheryl needs that Fleetwood Mac bouce that seems to help anybody who's ever been in it. Outside of Bob Welch, what ex-Maccer has ever had a hit? Riding the coattails of a band that had it's last hit seven years before her first hit.

Sheryl has worked with Eric Clapton, which makes her even more appropriate for Fleetwood Mac. (Hey, I coulda said she had sex with an ex-Bluesbreaker, but I was trying to be civilized.) She has worked with the likes of Clapton, Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Henley, and FLEETWOOD MAC. I respect that, even though her break-out was in 1994, she chooses to associate with THAT generation of rock. Yeah, I'll still miss Christine, but that ship has sailed. It's time to move on, don't you know.
the band shouldn't have to fade away too if they don't want to.

Agreed.
Also, if she does have to add one solo song to a new FM tour, I'd love to hear Stevie & Lindsey together on this one - not just because of the obvious lyrics, but I just think Lindsey's voice would be great in the harmony.

This is what Lindsey said in November 2006. When I read it then, I was thinking something along the lines of FM and The Eagles, but it could foreshadow someone like Sheryl:
"My feeling is that we will go back on tour and perhaps do some co-billing combinations that haven't been thought out yet. Beyond that, I can't say. But absolutely in 2008, there will be action on the Fleetwood Mac front."

Am I the only one not particularilty thrilled at the prospect of Sheryl Crow "joining" Fleetwood Mac. And what does that mean exactly? It makes no sense for Sheryl Crow to become a full-fledged member of the group --she has her own definative career. It sounds more like she's going infuse Stevie's muse and to colaborate with them on a future album and possibly tour with them, as a guest performer.
But even that prospect bothers me. I love Fleetwood Mac and I love Sheryl Crow...but not together. I don't attend a Fleetwood Mac show to hear an even more deluted version of the live band as it is now (with more support players than main players). To add Sheryl to the mix severely alters the chemistry as never before. Sheryl has a very strong presence and solo identity of her own. It's very different situation, unlike when Rick or Billy joined the band, or any other incarnation before that. I can see Sheryl adding something to Fleetwood Mac songs in concert, but I can't see Fleetwood Mac becoming a back-up band for Sheryl's songs. That's when it stops being a Fleetwood Mac concert.
I can't see why anyone would be elated by this.

She'll be as much a member in Fleetwood Mac as Stevie is a member of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Why does that even have to be a choice? Can anyone absolutely say for sure that Fleetwood Mac's entire future is predicated on Sheryl Crow?
If so, is the motivation to make Fleetwood Mac more marketable? Sheryl Crow's previous release tanked big time.
Fleetwood Mac is generally considered to be a lauded dinosaur in the music industry, and not in the main demographic that buys music now, song by song off of ITunes. A band this old and legendary should just be concerned with making good music, and dispence with the antiquated notion of making a "hit."
However, if Sheryl pops up in guest appearances like Stevie shows up at Tom Petty shows, the more the merrier! It would be cool if other artists were surprise guests as the tour progresses.

This thread is exhausting. :p I agree w/ PenguinHead.
"Collaborating" does not mean she's permanently joining the band. I'm chilled out until we know more. If one more person I know screams, "SHERYL CROW'S JOINING FLEETWOOD MAC?!?!" at me, I may have to slap them.

I think the future of FM was predicated on Christine and Stevie. Since Christine is not coming back, I think Sheryl was a compromise. But this is just speculation. In any case, based on what we know about the turmoil within the band during the SYW sessions and Stevie's most recent interviews, I do think Stevie would have refused to return to FM unless the situation was made more palatable for her. And Mick knows better than to try and soldier on without Stevie again. Ain't gonna happen.
So choose: Sheryl + FM or no FM at all?
If so, is the motivation to make Fleetwood Mac more marketable? Sheryl Crow's previous release tanked big time.
SC's latest album is doing quite well, actually. She's getting lots of radio play, which is saying a lot for a 46-year-old female rocker. And in case you haven't checked it out for yourself, Detours is a damn fine album. A couple of clunkers, but the most consistent SC album in a long time.
Sure, FM would like to be marketable. But there is also a legacy that everyone, including Stevie and Lindsey, are extremely proud of. As such, they have an interest in preserving and adding to the legacy, but not at the expense of being miserable and in constant combat with each other. That's where SC comes in- the interpersonal and musical mediator. IMHO, I believe SC is being brought in to babysit, as well as to change the political dynamic.
Fleetwood Mac is generally considered to be a lauded dinosaur in the music industry, and not in the main demographic that buys music now, song by song off of ITunes. A band this old and legendary should just be concerned with making good music, and dispence with the antiquated notion of making a "hit."
Yes and no. FM's legacy was not built upon making "good music" in the vein of critics' darlings like the Jayhawks, Patti Smith, and Richard Thompson. Their legacy is based upon making good, intensely personal music that also happened to be consistently successful commercially. Although each FM album has had lots of wacky, idiosyncratic elements, you could depend on it to crank out 3 or 4 monster singles, especially by Christine. Now that the primary hitmaker is no longer in the band, the pressure is on to keep up the momentum. Expecting FM to suddenly become an "art" band is just like asking a zebra to lose its stripes.
However, if Sheryl pops up in guest appearances like Stevie shows up at Tom Petty shows, the more the merrier! It would be cool if other artists were surprise guests as the tour progresses.
The fact that she is being factored in a year beforehand is a clear indication that her involvement will go far beyond merely "jamming" with the band. It's so premeditated. I do believe that she will be functioning as Christine's replacement in the band, as well as tackling other instruments as needed. Everyone can agree that she is no Christine; however, she is, by far, the most qualified and acclaimed musician (as well as being a friend to the band) to assume this role.
I have no idea whether this will be a fruitful collaboration. However, I have every reason to be optimistic based upon their respective track records. There really is something to be said about having 3 singer/songwriters in a band, especially when they are so talented and so different.

What I am really hoping for is an album with the five of them ..Anything to get La Nicks to commit at least a few more songs to record and I think she may be more open to Sheryl working on her songs now than LB. As for the tour I wouldn't really go out of my way for it but considering where I live I probably wouldn't have to.

Sheryl Crow used to be a background singer for other artists, among them being Don Henley, before her own solo breakthrough. She's a competent songwriter and she's got a good voice, too. With her 2nd album, she has proven that she's a good producer, too. So why not?
She may not be "from the 70s", but "from the 90s" instead, but I think that kind of rejuvenation would do the band some good. I can imagine Lindsey deciding to opt out and focus on his solo career for this time around, should he not like to have Sheryl in the band. I'm happily expecting his next solo album, the long-rumored "rock album". Sheryl's most recent disc sounds fine to me, and I hope this is not a publicity stunt for the album.
I'd prefer Sheryl to produce another Stevie album to her joining FM, but if that's what the band is going to do, it's fine with me, as long as they also record a new album together under the FM name, which is NOT produced by John Shanks.
Now, there is the question of guitarists. Lindsey? Rick Vito? Billy Burnette? Jeff Trott?

Crow, Fleetwood gig just Rumours
By JANE STEVENSON - Sun Media
http://jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/C/Crow_Sheryl/2008/03/21/5068986-sun.html
Turns out those reports last week of Sheryl Crow hooking up with Fleetwood Mac next year might have been a bit premature.
Crow told Sun Media yesterday that while it's something she would like to do, given her long friendship with Stevie Nicks -- which dates to when they worked together on Nicks' 2001 album, Trouble In Shangri-La -- it's still an idea that's in the early stages.
"We don't even know -- all that stuff is rumours," she said. "We are just in the middle of figuring out if we want to collaborate, and what we're going to be doing, and what that's going to look like."
Still, Crow said she's enthusiastic about the possibility. After all, she wore a "full shag" hairstyle in high school in the '70s, emulating Nicks' famous feathered 'do.
"Oh, my gosh. It would be so much fun. And I'm a huge fan of Fleetwood Mac -- the band and the people, obviously the music. And also I just love Stevie. I grew up really idolizing her, and then when I got to work with her, like, 10 years ago, I think I was stunned by how much of an artist she really is -- a fully-realized artist, not just a songwriter."
Nicks is on a spring/summer solo tour, including one Canadian date so far -- at Casino Rama north of Toronto on June 18. Crow also plans to hit the road in July and August, with Canadian dates expected in September.
Detours worth the trip
Sheryl Crow called her new album Detours for good reason.
In the past two years, the 46-year-old singer-songwriter split from her fiance Lance Armstrong, was diagnosed with breast cancer, adopted a baby boy (Wyatt, now 11 months old) and moved to Nashville.
But Crow said all of the experiences taught her how to put herself first by learning to say no and not caring about the repercussions.
"That was major for me," said Crow, looking as gorgeous and as fit as ever yesterday at a Toronto hotel, sporting long, curly blond hair and dressed casually in a short-cropped leather jacket, tight jeans and leather boots.
"(So was) the other idea of not being distracted, of really experiencing everything that happened at that time."
Her feelings ranged from anger to disappointment; from sadness to grief to fear. She faced those head on, "so that when I was done with it, I would be done. And I really feel like I'm done with it and I turned a corner."
For the record, Crow said she feels great, physically.
"I'm two years out and as far as I know, I'm cancer free," Crow said.
Significantly, Detours reunites Crow with Bill Bottrell, who produced her 1993 debut, Tuesday Night Music Club. The second experience was "so easy and so organic," they're going back into the studio again, sooner rather than later.
Maybe the result will be her long-awaited country album, now she's living in Nashville.
"I don't know that we'll ever limit ourselves," Crow said. "When he first came down, I said, 'You know, I've been thinking about making a country record.' And he said, 'Let's just don't put any kind of restrictions on it. We'll see where it takes us.' "
Where Detours took Crow was a combination of highly political and personal songs. In the latter category, she writes about her radiation therapy (Make It Go Away), the breakup with Armstrong (Detours, Now That You're Gone, Drunk With The Thought of You, Diamond Ring, Love Is All There Is) and the self-explanatory Lullaby For Wyatt.
And while Diamond Ring features Crow's often-strained, emotional vocals and lyrics -- "Diamonds may be sweet but to me they just bring cold feet" -- she wants people to see the humour in it, too.
"I hope that people will hear the tongue-in-cheek (nature) of it, obviously," said Crow, who was engaged twice before Armstrong came along. "And I don't know how many relationships have tried to be salvaged by people saying, 'Well, she wants to get married so I'm going to get engaged and I think that will fix everything,' or, 'Let's have a baby,' or, 'Let's buy a house.' All these things that actually really create a lot of stress wind up undermining the stability. And that's really what it's about, particularly having gone through three unsuccessful engagements. It was fodder for lyric writing ... (to) investigate it, (to) look at the absurdity of it."
Although she said she's dating, the current main man in Crow's life these days is Wyatt, who was in the studio with her at age three months and will be on her tour bus when she hits the road this summer.
"(Touring with him) is going to be challenging and fun and inspiring, and it's going to be very exciting," said Crow. "He's so social and he's growing up with so many people in his life that it will be interesting when he realizes one day that not everybody is waiting for him to do the next cute thing."
Crow is also happy about her decision to raise him in Nashville, where her family is a three-hour drive away.
"L.A.'s a great place to visit, but the whole celebrity thing kind of got on my last nerve. I haven't seen any paparazzi (in Nashville) and I'll walk around with Faith Hill or Sara Evans or whoever, and I never see them. And (Wyatt) will have a very normal upbringing and won't be just another kid of a famous parent."

There are also rumours Crow will soon hook up with Fleetwood Mac for an unspecified project, but she's playing coy about the situation for now.
"We're just talking and kinda dreaming about what we could do, collaboration-wise. Could we tour? Could we collaborate in a recording studio?" she says.
"We're not really sure what we're doing yet, but it's great fun to think about. As a kid, I pored over those records and I had my hair cut like Stevie Nicks."

This alone is the best FM-related news I've heard in half a decade. There is now at least the slightest possibility of a new album, whereas before it was surely a 0% possibility. Anyway, with all of this touring going on, when are they going to find time in their schedules to get together and actually hash this out??

:]God, you are so spot on with my sentiments about Sheryl Crow and this whole situation. I love her and respect her talent but you hit on one of my beefs about her: she's a musical whore of sorts, and the "jock sniffing" reference is quite accurate...and creative! lolI Think this is compleate b.s.
Sheryl Crow is nothing more then someone that can't help to thrust herself in the spotlight at someone else's expense and talent. Years ago you saw her pop up at every music benifit there was. Not doing her own set but she has put herself onstage with everyone from the allman brothers band to the rolling stones. I love stevie but think about how much
different tisl would have sounded if sheryl crow's ''influince'' was not all over it. Now she is
''joining'' fleetwood mac? no no no she is ''jock sniffing'' fleetwood mac. Mick and john please
don't let this happen. I really don't want the final chapter of this great band written this way. the band don't deserve it..the fans don't deserve it..and history don't deserve it
I can see the set meeting already
ok we need to bump rhiannon for my favorite mistake

how much worse can this get?? oops we were gonna bring back storms but we are doing a sheryl song instead.

Let's hope this is Stevies newest way of kicking Lindsey out.
"I want a new girlfriend in my band. Go f*ck yourself and your boutique albums, I know a girl that really wants ME to shine in Fleetwood Mac and she sells 10000ths more albums than you do, so Mick doesn't want you anymore either and John doesn't give a **** as long as he's on stage playing bass and HA, everybody will accept my lyrics like they are, and nobody will ever again think it's me you're singing about in Come."

This alone is the best FM-related news I've heard in half a decade. There is now at least the slightest possibility of a new album, whereas before it was surely a 0% possibility. Anyway, with all of this touring going on, when are they going to find time in their schedules to get together and actually hash this out??
EXACALLY. NO-MORE-FREEKIN touring for NO aparent reason. New music now please.

^^ Yeah, no joke.
As far as an album goes, it better be good, or I'll be pissed. I don't want a halfass album of radio friendly pop bullcrap just so they can say they have a new album and a "reason" to tour. I'd take a moneygrubbing greatest hits tour over bastardizing the sanctity of the FM catalog any day. Some people may have a problem with SYW, whatever... but I guarantee SYW would be a better place to end the line of Mac albums than the FM equivalent of Stevie's TISL. Barf!
I can be okay with Sheryl on the bill. I can learn to deal with a SMALL amount of studio collaboration on Stevie's songs only (primarily because I won't listen to those anyway har har har). But keep her off my entire FM rekkit please and thank you. -_-

There are plenty of people who like Time. It's not my favorite, but whatever... that's not the point. Time is not the LAST Fleetwood Mac album. We would be lucky to get ONE more studio album out of this band, seriously. If it sucks, that's the last FM album ever done... ending a huge band with a huge history on a low note. Retrospect would not be kind to them at all. I can hear it now... "influential start in the British blues scene... hit their heyday with sunny 70s California pop... held on through personal disasters in the 80s.. a triumphant return in the 90s... fell off to sell out in the 2000s.." History would make it sound like all of the good **** they've done for the last 40 years was all for nothing, thanks to a crapsack of a last album. Hey, it's not a guaranteed thing that an album with Sheryl WOULD be horrific, but the risk is so high. Not worth it. Not for me, thanks!

Honestly, I can't think of a studio album since "Tusk" that would really qualify as being great or worthy of the band going out on. Mirage, Tango, Mask, Time, and SYW all fall short -PAINFULLY short- of rising to that occasion. And, I have a hard time with people talking about this whole notion of "40 years" or whatever. Considering that the band didn't do ANYTHING 17 of those 40 years really minimizes the significance of the occasion.

Rumours (Ha) of New Fleetwood Reunion
Well, I suppose you should start saving now (that is, of course, only if you get off on seeing once great bands reunite to play just-barely acceptable versions of their awesome old songs to a depressingly aged audience trying to recapture their youth), because this ****’s gonna be expensive. Fleetwood Mac is talking about playing some shows in the first half of 2009, possibly with new material (ew) and possibly without. There’s talk of Sheryl Crow joining the band to replace Christine McVie, who peaced out a bunch of years ago. Although, it would seem Crow thinks this is more definite than Lindsey Buckingham does: When he heard that she was talking to the press about it, he was all, like, “Whaaaa? She’s crazy… We ain’t decided **** yet.” So stupid, her. I’m gonna go and listen to “Second Hand News” now.

As for one other rumored live venture -- touring with Fleetwood Mac, perhaps as soon as next spring -- Crow said her participation isn't as certain as recent media accounts suggest.
"I'm not really sure how that rumor got started," Crow said. "I don't know how my quote got attached to me that we were definitely doing it. That's not the case. Nothing's been planned. It's fun to get together and talk about things, but we haven't gone any further than that."

Unless I am forgetting an interview, I do not think La Nicks has made comments of Crow joing FM and/or any such ultimatum. La Nicks did say that without CM there, it is difficult for her and that she thinks LB is being a jerk to her and CM could make that situation better for Stevie. Am I missing an interview where Stevie has commented on this, other than the jokes in the initial SYW stuff? Are we just assuming, likely correctly, that La Nicks has issued this ultimatum basedon her CM coments?

First of all, I am so glad that your wife Wendy is healthy. That must have been a terrible scare, the kind that devastates you with the news. It is times like those, that as humans, empathize and relate to one another.
Second, it appears that people can WRITE about love, kindness, souls, etc. etc., but when it comes time to actually BEING THERE, all bets are off.
Third, could it be a case of "the people who work for them" are lousy, egotistical and didn't pass your messages on? I am in no way, making excuses for La Nicks or Mr. B. Both have egos larger than the universe, (and of course, the universe seems to center around them.) In Denver and Boulder, I was disenchanted with this Jimmy guy who works for LB. Arrogance doesn't describe his demeanor but he seems to have it in his head that someone-died-and-made-him-God.
Back when I used to watch Oprah (and I don't anymore) she said that it is the job of the manager...to play the heavy and be rude, so that the star can look good.
Fourth, if you get a scare in the future, speaking for myself, I am available. If I can help, let me know. That's why we are humans, and it is our empathy that sets us apart from the rest of the animal kingdom. I am sorry that the other two didn't respond when you put out the call.

Bob, I am so sorry to hear of what your wife went through, and of what you went through in the horror of having to stand back and watch it happen and feel helpless.
You are certain that the messages to Stevie and Lindsey reached them? Stevie has a done a great deal of benefit work over the years on behalf of cancer, The City of Hope, for the heart causes, for tsumani relief, for veterans, and I know Lindsey and Fleetwood Mac have participated in some of that to an extent.
You have all lived a life most of us can't imagine. On top of the world, and sadly enough, at the bottom of deep despair. I hope you will all find healing.

As for Chris Nicks, his reputation doesn't seem to be squeaky-clean-love-thy-neighbor, or am I wrong? The talk around this place is that he likes the little groupies who follow Stevie's tours, in the hopes, that when one falls off the bandwagon, he can catch her.
I didn't mean to sound so sarcastic, re-reading that it sounds like the old *spider to the fly* poem.
Maybe I am not giving Chris a fair, favorable opinion, and it's guilt by association.
Regardless, I like your viewpoint. And I am sure that a lot of people around this place, would come running, if you put out the call.

Hi Bob..
I'm SOOO glad and relieved to hear that your wife is ok now! Thank the Lord, that she was just mis-diagnosed. I know that must have been a really hard time for you both!
It doesn't suprise me in the least, regarding Sheryl- but Stevie? I know you guys recorded music together earlier on, as well as being friends.. That sort of suprises me - as she doesn't seem to be that type of person at all. I know she's been very busy fund-raising, but at least a call from Karen explaining that would have been nice, if not from Stevie, herself. It just doesn't seem like Stevie.. Maybe it's because I'm moving into the last "decanate" of my life , as far as my "progressed" astrological chart goes..... but for me I was (born) Virgo> "progressed".> to Libra.>, and now, final progression> to the dreaded....>Scorpio until I'm 90 (if I make it that far). This seems to be having an effect on me of being less reticent, less of a diplomat, more outspoken, perhaps harsh , yes.....even "bitchy". So, with that explanation,I find I must (Scorpio compels me !) say that in all of my wife and I's dealings with the abovementioned "Karen" , "Karen" has been completely rude , dismissive, and is herself a legend in her own mind...just cause she works for one. In plain English , and non-diplomatic Scorpio-speak...Karen has acted like a complete bitchto us. For clarity, and emphasis I repeat; a complete bitch. She wouldn't even let Wendy, who has a heart condition and uses a pacemaker, come into the air-coditioned dressing room here in Nashville....She made Wendy stand outside in the heat of the Nashville summer...wouldn't even get her a chair to sit in.....the band and Nicks had to "cool down" you know, before they let anybody in. Yeah right.
All this, and I was IN Fleetwood Mac for gawds sake. I can only imagine how "Karen" treats "regular" people !

You're not being "bitchy", and there's no need to explain why you're just telling it like it is. I'm quite sure that most of us around here respect that in a person. I'm sorry that you and your wife were so poorly treated by people you probably considered friends.

Hey Bob..
These are my sentiments exactly.. I'm just a little more than stunned that Stevie would even "allow' Karen to treat you that way! I'm SO sorry to hear Karen was so horrid to poor Wendy, knowing she had a heart condition! And I have to agree.. you aren't bitchy in the least! I just don't understand Stevie's actions..

Hey Bob..
I'm SOO sorry to hear that Karen - knowingly treated your wife this way! No, you aren't being bitchy, as Lori40 stated, but as she said, just "telling it like it is". It really blows me away that Stevie - or someone on her staff couldn't at least have the common courtesy to at the very least return your call and let you know that she was busy touring, or whatever the reason. I always thought very highly of her, and thought a lot more of her character. I guess like you said, you truly find out who your true "friend's" are. I know I did as well, with some "on-line" Stevie fans.. LOL.. I'm very blessed to have a great on-line FM/ Stevie based Yahoo group, with a lot of wonderful friends, as well as a lot of awesome friends, here on the Ledge!
All my love to you and Wendy,

Bob, those two should be ashamed of themselves. I guess they didn't see enough self-serving opportunity in helping you. They couldn't even be bothered acknowledging your plight or offering some kind of moral support or best wishes. I'm not surprised the way Stevie's true believers are. I've always noticed everything she says is completely self-serving. Her actions are exactly the same. If La Nicks can't use you in some way to enhance her public profile or advance her private agenda by taking you into her confidence for the purpose of feeding you a line she hopes you'll take back to the streets, well, then she has no use for you. The same goes double for Sir Buckingham.
Now, if Wendy were only some impressionable, star struck, handicapped teenager, who hadn't heard of either of them from jack a few years ago, because she was still in elementary school, instead of the ailing wife of a former collegue who has known them over thirty years, not to mention a former Mac member deserving of a little respect, not mistreatment by the hired hands...or, if Bob were an injured Iraq war vet who could tell the press how wonderful and selfless Stevie Nicks is...maybe he could at least get a free Ipod out of the deal?

Betsy...Thanks for your good wishes ! In Nick's case, I don't think it was a "management protecting the prima-donna" thing...because I called Stevies brother , Chris Nicks too.And Chris is very close to Stevie, like I am with my own sister...So I'm sure he told her...she just didn't want to get involved...too many "other" charity gigs with higher publicity profiles I guess..
Thanks for your offer of help....Hopefully all this is past us now , at least the drastic panicky part ;-)
All the best,
Bob Welch
Dealing with Chris Nicks is kinda.... let's say "tricky". You never know if he gives messages to Stevie or not. My guess is she didn't get the message because it sounds so unlike Stevie to not do anything. She would've called you to say the least. But maybe I'm just one of those Stevie fans who walk around with blinders on. It just doesn't sound like her not to care.

As for Karen treating "regular" people, I have no idea. I've heard (bad) stories but that's all hearsay. I never dealt with her myself.
I agree with mgikallaroundme. Those two (La Nicks and Mr. B) should be ashamed of themselves. They should've stepped up to the plate and helped you and Wendy. I don't understand any of this behavior

I am going to have to agree with Mr. Welch on this one. Karen is very unpleasant, and that is being VERY nice. It is sad that Stevie has these kinds of people around her...not to mention her brother, who is also as unpleasant as Karen. For these reasons, I lost interest for a long time...

I think exactly that...I don't like the idea...I hate to say unpleasant things about a fellow artist.....but IMO Sheryl Crow will do ANYTHING to get her face out there....a commercial, a charity, a "guest shot"....she's right up there with Brett Michaels....ANYTHING for publicity....embarassing...nothing to do with music....everything to do with self-promotion of the worst kind. This next is a truly , truly horrible thing to say....but, IMO, and forgive me if I'm wrong.....even the marriage to Lance Armstrong smacks of a publicity stunt to me....There is an old one-liner in showbiz that" dying is a great career move". I ( and I know this sounds terribly mean spirited), I think that if Crow could manage to "die" somehow, for awhile...and then magically reappear...she'd do it. And BTW; recently my wife was (THANK GOD) MIS-diagnosed with a fast moving form of liver cancer...We were told, erroneously thank GOD, that the chemo and other treatment could completely bust our lifetime insurance cap....and that we better start thinking about maybe doing some fundraisers...we were panicked..I immediately got on the phone and started calling;....1st Mick Fleetwood...Mick said he would play(we weren't asking for money, just "time and talent)anytime, anywhere...so did Rick Vito...so did Billy Burnette...so did Walter Eagan....so did Jeff Baxter. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey didn't bother to even return my calls. The die is cast...I now know who's got a heart and who doesn't....REALLY got a heart, not the phony heart on sleeve BS that often passes for "empathy" in Hollywood. Sorry to have to say this...Stevie stiffed me and my wife....so did Lindsey....Mick and everybody else came through when we really thought Wendy was at death's door...A misdiagnosis, again, thank God. I will never forget who was a friend....and who wasn't.

You lost interest in Stevie & her music because Karen & Chris are assholes? That makes no sense to me.
Karen's a bitch, it's a pretty well established & shared opinion in the Mac community. Partly because it's her job to keep crazy anoying fans away from her boss (I'm not saying we're all crazy & annoying, but one would have to assume so for safety & sanity's sake) and partly because that's just the kind of person she is. I don't get why people are always so shocked or upset by it. Karen has nothing to do with how I feel about Stevie's songs. Neither does scumbag Chris. They have no impact on my life.

In any event, that people actually give a damn is a remaining feather in the much plucked popularity hat of FM.
Maybe she was sleeping one night and she had a dream that she said it? I've even had to make corrections at my local radio stations that it has not been determined that she is going to tour with them. This one dj said to me "well that's what I read online", and I told him, "yeah, and how many times online have they said that we've captured Big Foot!?" LOL!

Remember when Stevie was on Leno and said that she hires people on her tours to manage the people for her because she doesn't like to be the bad guy and tell people off? Well, it's the same situation here. If Stevie had to deal with every crazy, every package, every fan (decent or otherwise), she'd probably retired years ago. I believe Tony was Stevie's manager in 1987 when they had the big fight at Christine's. Then later, I think Glen Parrish was her manager and I don't know the exact time frame but she must have signed with Kauffman after her second rehab stint in the mid '90's? I just read that she fired her management at Frontline (Tony Dimitriades) because they made her go to rehab...I don't know that it's factual though.

I think Sheryl Crow is a very talented artist. Two of her albums "Sheryl Crow" from '96 and "The Globe Sessions" from '99 are really great. But she seems to have run out of good material. "Wildflower" from '05 is one of the most boring CD's I've listened to recently. So I really don't see the need in her joining Fleetwood Mac. She might slightly help with sales, and maybe draw a younger crowd but that's about it. Besides if Lindsey and Stevie can't come up with enough good material on their own then maybe it's time to retire the Mac (did I really write that?). Lindsey's UTS did give me hope for the future, both his and the Mac's.

Tony Dimitriades is a class act. If he was fired for having a role in forcing Stevie into rehab...how interesting is it...Tony's been Lindsey's manager ever since?
Well, to be fair to Sheryl, Lindsey did say it was an idea that had been discussed, it didn't come out of nowhere.
The idea didn't come out of nowhere. It was first mentioned 5 years ago during the making of Say You Will. The idea got as lousy a response then as it has now. There is no way Sheryl tossed this cookie out to the public all on her own. Somebody's wanted her to join the band for years and doesn't want to come out and admit it if it isn't going to happen. I'd bet my favorite Cuban cigar the one who wants Sheryl in the band most is not the obvious culprit. ;)
Remember when Stevie was on Leno and said that she hires people on her tours to manage the people for her because she doesn't like to be the bad guy and tell people off? Well, no surprise Stevie doesn't want to take the heat for doing any dirty work like dissing Bob and his wife. That's why she hires people like Karen to do it. As for her sleazy brother, he's been trading on her fame forever. It's no secret he uses her to get with groupies. Stevie's in no position to tell him to cool it...even when it makes her look bad. The fans who go anywhere near her brother have zero chance of ever getting near Stevie, but as far as that is concerned, dirty laundry is a two-way street. As long as Chris keeps the groupies away from her, and also keeps her personal knickers off the public clothesline...then he gets to do whatever he wants...including her star-struck fans.

I haven't heard that, but after I read your post, I went to look at the Bass Hall liner notes. Lindsey thanks both Irving and Tony, so no clues there:lol:.
Tom Petty had been so busy that I was feeling thankful that Tony still had time to do such a nice job with the UTS tour and promotions. I would hate to think that he wasn't with Lindsey anymore. On the other hand, Irving Azoff hasn't been a slouch where the Eagles are concerned.
The thing is, once you change management after all these years, you usually don't end up staying with the new person very long. I don't want Lindsey to be without reputable management. As a small act, he needs it more.

The simple, ragged power of "Shine Over Babylon" was forceful, but not entrancing and it seemed odd when Crow waved hands above her head like she was her idol Stevie Nicks during the breakdown.
To Crow's credit, she was a hard-working and engaging performer. Dressed in tiny black jeans, high heels and a small, embroidered and sparkly vest that looked like she snipped it off one of Stevie Nick's capes, she was charmingly earnest.

Frontline is Irving Azoff, who managed Stevie at the begining of her solo career.
Thank you - sorry for the mix up.

Does anyone know about the management history?
I just read that Irving Azoff and Howard Kauffman "reformed" Front Line in 2005, but the Eagles are still managed under Irving Azoff's company, Azoff Music Management. Does this mean Kaufman maintains his HK Management as well - or was this a complete merger of the two companies?
Tony Dimitriades' East End Management was formed in 1989. What company was he with when he was representing Stevie in '87?
And, I'm confused - is Lindsey still with East End or is he now with Front Line? I've read he's changed management?

Tony Dimitriades' East End Management was formed in 1989. What company was he with when he was representing Stevie in '87? The 1987 tourbook lists Tony's name with Lookout Management as Stevie's manager & tour producer. John Courage/Courage Management managed Christine McVie; Dennis Dunstan/Wel-Dun Management managed Mick Fleetwood; Steve Wax/Stiletto Management managed John McVie.
It seems as if a lot of the guys who started out doing sound or security for the band moved up over the years into positions of management & tour production.

Whatever happened to John Courage and Dennis Dunstan? Does anyone know?

Whatever happened to John Courage and Dennis Dunstan? Does anyone know?I think Courage retired, no? He was commandeering the troops back before Lindsey joined, I think.
