Ok, I'm a little late with this. but here goes. First of all, I cant believe 2 things. How the hell the Mets blew a lead like that with 2 weeks left to go, and how the Padres, more importantly Trevor Hoffman, couldnt close out Colorado. Now onto the games at hand.
Colorado continues their hot streak, winning their 15th out of their last 16th games today in game 1 against the Phillies, 4-2. And my Red Sox just put a whuppin on the Angels with Mr October (all apologies to Reggie Jackson) Josh Beckett pitching a complete game 4 hit shutout 4-0 over L.A.
Here are this "Expert's" predictions
Colorado over Philadelphia, 3-2
Arizona over Chicago, 3 games to 2.
Boston over L.A 3-1
Cleveland over Yankees 3-2
ALCS: Boston over Cleveland 4-3
NLCS: Arizona over Colorado, 4-3
World Series: Boston over Arizona 4-2
Of course I'm biased:lol: Man October baseball, BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!!!

In my opinion the winning run that decided that game was wrong, he was out he never touched the plate.

I was highly annoyed that the Red Sox decided to have Eric Gagne pitch the 11th inning Saturday night! The guy has been terrible ever since he came over in a trade from the Rangers earlier this season. I hope Francona has the good sense not to let him anywhere near a pitching mound the rest of the postseason. Cleveland is too good a team to be handing wins to. On the othe side of the ledger, I'm very happy for the Rockies and what theyre doing. It makes for a great baseball story.:)

I'm sorry, how are you a Red Sox fan again? (the Ledge lost several days of posts- you may have responded) From reading your posts and viewing your signature and whatnot, I had the understanding that you are a Twins fan and/or season-ticket holder.
I don't mean to be snarky- I was just curious. There's no shame in being a Twins fan (especially after Pohlad kicks the bucket- hopefully before next October, so the Twins can/will pay the money to resign Santana)
All that said, I'm convinced that the Rockies are going to bulldoze their way to the championship. I just pray, for their sake, that the Mitchell report (due out after the World Series) doesn't implicate any Rockies players beyond Helton (who juiced- sorry)

My dad took me to my first game back in August of 1978 at Metropolitan Stadium against the Red Sox and Carl Yazstremski hit 2 home runs that day. Then 5 years later in his last year I had a chance to meet him, and got my picture taken with him, he signed my baseball and left tickets behind the Red Sox dugout. The answer is I love both teams (Red Sox/Twins) equally. Hope that clears things up a bit for you.

I wanted a separate post to give the Rockies and their fans props! You will love the whole World Series atmosphere. I've been thru it with the Twins in 1987 and 1991, and The Red Sox in 2004 winning it all. I hope some of you get a chance to attend a game. There is nothing like it. I was at every home game for the Twins in the 1991 world series against the Braves, and game 7, which went 10 innings won by the Twins 1-0, still stands as the best world series game ever played in my opinion. Oh just on a Twins note, they've started construction on the new stadium to open in 2010, and it will be alot of fun over the next 2 years driving by watching the progress.

Screw the Mitchell report. Keep the Congress out of baseball. And who the hell cares WHO juices, anyway. It's just a way to keep all the damned sports tabloids in business and Senators to have something to do since they obviously aren't "checking & balancing" the Executive branch these days.
I say legalize everything to level the playing field, not ban it. The only person it's hurting is the athlete himself, so if he/she wants to shorten his/her lifespan, it's up to him/her alone.
Even Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Joe Namath, Paul Hornung, etc, were "juiced" in their own chemically dependent ways...so f'ing what?? SOME "performance enhancing" chemical has been in sports since the beginning of time. Get over it.

Well, The Red Sox backs are against the wall now for sure down 3 games to 1. But we have our best pitcher Josh Beckett going and I'll take my chances. Another Case of Manny Being Manny?

CLEVELAND (Oct. 18) - Manny Ramirez is the man in the middle of the Red Sox's fading drive toward the World Series.
Manny Ramirez, who already had a reputation of being a flake, didn't help his cause when he said it's not the "end of the world" if the Red Sox lose to Cleveland.
Boston's quirky cleanup hitter stands at the plate to admire a mammoth homer. He keeps getting on base. He chats pleasantly for nine minutes, a filibuster for a slugger who prefers silence to speaking with reporters.
Ramirez was in the center again Wednesday, surrounded at his locker by writers whose pens sped up when he made a casual remark with the Red Sox trailing the Cleveland Indians 3-1 in the AL championship series that resumes Thursday night.
"We're not going to give up," Ramirez said. "It doesn't happen, so who cares? There's always next year. It's not like it's the end of the world."
Wow.
That's not what Boston's passionate fans want to hear when their team is one loss away from elimination after losing three straight games.
But Ramirez does care.
Why else would he show up at the ballpark many mornings long before night games to lift weights, do drills and hit balls? Why would he say his career records for most homers in the postseason and the LCS pale in significance to a return to the World Series.
"If I would have known that I was going to be in the World Series and not have those records, I would have traded in a heartbeat," Ramirez said on Wednesday's workout day between Games 4 and 5. "Who cares about the records, man? We just want to go have fun and win."
Those words again: Who cares.
The Red Sox need more than Ramirez and the middle of their lineup to help postseason star Josh Beckett extend their season when he faces C.C. Sabathia in a rematch of Cy Young favorites who faced each other in the series opener.
They need the last four hitters in the batting order and leadoff man Dustin Pedroia to improve on their 16-for-77 showing with just six runs and six RBIs in the series.
Ramirez is confident that will change.
"It's going to happen," he said. "We've got a lot of confidence in our teammates. They've been good all year 'round."
If the Red Sox win, they'll return home for Game 6 on Saturday with Curt Schilling, an outstanding postseason pitcher who failed in Game 2, opposing Fausto Carmona. If the managers stick to their rotations, Westbrook would face Daisuke Matsuzaka if a seventh game is played.
"We can believe all we want," Boston's Mike Lowell said, "but we have to get hits off Sabathia and hold them down."
Ramirez is confident the Red Sox will prolong the series.
"Hey," he said, "anything's possible."
But if they lose, don't expect him to sulk in his seat more than an hour after the game, staring into his locker the way Matsuzaka did when he lasted just 4 2-3 innings in Cleveland's 4-2 win in Game 3.
"We're always relaxed," Ramirez said. "If a guy goes over there and gives me 100 percent and things don't happen the way he wanted to, what is there to ask?"

What? It's all part of being a sports fan. You don't think people in Boston back in the 80's didn't like seeing fans in Los Angeles suffer, or fans in New York suffer? Wake up call- the Red Sox *are* the Yankees... they have the big payroll, the outrageously large bandwagon support, and the expectation of winning (after what happened in '04).
Now, I love Boston- outside of San Francisco and Portland, its one of my three favorite cities. But, the luster of being a Red Sox fan, in any way, shape, or form, is totally lost on me now.
The Indians deserve a championship victory, and they'll get it this year.

No, but the losers always hate the winners. It's just the way it is. Yeah Manny can be really arrogant but he obviously cares a great deal about the game or he wouldn't bother playing well. It pissed me off that he didn't run when he hit the non-homer. But for games he was one of the only few even hitting the damn ball. He's an excellent hitter which his attitude cannot erase. So if we win it's a big :p to the haters. :blob1:

Because of the RED SOX game
