Its just lately its taken a rather more sinister turn. A turn into gang culture mentality and scheming. It needs to be taken care of in a careful way and a considered way. It cannot continue if this site is to be taken seriously as a Fleetwood Mac resource.
That's just a little too precious and overdramatic for my taste.
It's an annex of a Fleetwood Mac message board called "Chit Chat", fer chrissakes. How much more of an inane title could be concocted to represent what it is?
The Penguin is the Fleetwood Mac "resource". The Ledge is the living, breathing, changing part of it. Chit Chat should just be renamed "Bull**** Central"- for that is what most of it is. And parts of it are extremely funny and in bad taste, but without that, this place would be as boring as a nunnery.
Anyone who thinks that a person under the age of adolescence would be interested in reading The Ledge is smoking something that I'd like to get my hands on.

There are certain people who like to challenge authority, and when they're given a reason to, they'll "kick it up a notch." It's childish, it makes this a less than pleasant place to be, and it needs to stop, but the way the moderators have been handling it (deleting threads, banning) only makes things worse. This isn't sarcasm... but if you can suggest an alternate and viable solution, trust me, I'm all ears. :)

Thats overdramatic? Have you read most of the threads lately? I'm just a straight and honest guy giving my opinion. There are plenty of drama queens on this site to stir things up as it is.
It's an annex of a Fleetwood Mac message board called "Chit Chat", fer chrissakes. How much more of an inane title could be concocted to represent what it is?
I don't know, and I'm not particularly bothered. I am more annoyed for Marty and Lis than anybody that what has been a great addition to the Fleetwood Mac community has been hijacked into a smut filled hotspot of triviality. Lets face it. A significant proportion of members are more concerned about themselves than others. I see a lot of fragile egos here these days. So much "me ,me, me" and "I have to give my opinion and a screw yours if its different" mentality. Theres also an undercurrent of sexual tension around too. Its all rather tiresome.
Well The Penguin is a reference and information site but as you will notice from the address of this website it is linked and a part of The Penguin, therefore it is a resource of that site. The Penguin is the best Fleetwood Mac site on the net by a distance and its a shame that, like all families, theres always a disruptive part. Its not supposed to be a nunnery (bit overdramatic wouldn't you say?) But it is a Fleetwood Mac chat site first and foremost. Or maybe I should say it was?.
In total views the Pre Rumours, Rumours, Post Rumours, Peter Green, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie forums combined give a total of 291,099 views. The Chit Chat forum on its own has 278,087 views. So its clearly the most popular forum now.
So the focus has changed and its one of the reasons some of the more respected members of the forums have left recently.
Anyone who thinks that a person under the age of adolescence would be interested in reading The Ledge is smoking something that I'd like to get my hands on.
"Won't someone puh-leeeeze think of the children?!?!?"
Why take a chance? This site was not intended for the topics getting discussed lately. There are thousands of forums on the net catering for the subject matter that is being hinted at all the time. They are only a click away.
But of course, thats just my opinion. Maybe too much of the "me" mentality so common here. Its not up to me to change anything. Just to state my observations as a third party. I think this place is losing more respect by those who came for the music each and every day.

I think much of the exodus from the other forums is due to FM and the indivuidual members not really doing much in a few years, save for LB, but he never really was the popular one (no slam intended). I think once Stevie's tour gets up and going, there will be more posts in her forum.

Yeah I stated that in my opening post. But Lindsey is at his most prolific and creative for years yet two of his biggest fans have gone. Doesn't really make sense.
Stevie is the most popular member without a doubt. But perhaps her fans are, I would say, the most passionate and highly strung too. Like the lady herself. (I'm trying to be diplomatic here). Which is a good thing when its going well.
Given that she has produced nothing of substance for a while now for whatever reason (I guess even rock stars need a break) those traits which are very strong with her fans can become a little strained without something to focus on. Which is why I would say this whole situation is happening. No focus = trouble in Shangri-La...

Nobody is forced to visit Chit Chat. Personally, I think it's a lot of fun, for the most part. I enjoy interacting with a lot of the people here; I generally couldn't care less about FM's next "Rumours Re-hashed" tour, so if Chit Chat was taken away, I probably wouldn't be around too much, and I doubt a lot of others wouldn't, either. But maybe that's what some people want?

I think its just a case of things getting out of hand. There has always been an element of playful banter and innuendo if you like. I've even indulged from time to time. But there is a point where it becomes the norm instead of the occasional and The Ledge has reached that point.
As I keep repeatedly stating, its the fact the "in" jokes and gang mentality seep into the other forums. Maybe thats a criticism of the moderators, I don't know. It does seem that a lot of topics get hijacked. Of course all threads move and grow in different ways and can end up totally away from the given subject up for discussion. Its knowing where to draw the line I suppose.
I'm not particularly bothered about a Rumours "rehashed" tour thread either but I respect it because its relevent to the subject matter of course.
I'm hearing a lot of comments about leaving, and about members leaving if Chit Chat is deleted which makes me wonder why they are posting on a website set up for the purpose of discussing this band? Theres nothing wrong with talking about subjects unrelated to this band in Chit Chat. As long as they remain respectful of the site in question. I don't see that happening too much lately.

I'm not so much into the "gang" mentality, but maybe a clique, and most others who are not in it have posts that are overlooked. It's hard to break into dialogue with the inside jokes. It's also hard to start a thread, almost knowing that it will ultimatly be hijacked with banter and inside jokes. I don't mind the banter and jokes, but they take over almost every thread. That's why it's no longer fun for me. I don't have hours every day to post, read, and keep up with this place, nor do I really want to. But it would be nice for someone whos been here a while, or even a newbie, to be able to come in and post something, and it actually be read or responded to.

I thinks thats a valid comment and very true. When you find every thread containing the same gags and hijacks it becomes tiresome. It stops you reading through something now. There might be some great responses to threads contained after the hijacks but unfortunately for me as a reader, and for those who post the great responses I never get that far anymore. The reading stimulation has gone. Its a major turn off for a topic.
Good post. :)

If I may speak for myself, I just don't care as much about Fleetwood Mac as I have in the past. I've moved on to other bands and artists who I like --gasp -- more than FM, who seem to care about the fans more than FM, who put out more material/tour more often than FM. Sue me. I just come here to talk to people I like. Which is why I hang out predominately in the Chit Chat forum and end up getting yelled at by people who haven't posted in forever and moderators.

I post on other forums which is one of the reasons I've not been around here (if you want real lunatics sending death threats and stuff try a Pink Floyd forum! ) along with other reasons. Some personal, others related to this topic in question too. I don't have the focus on this band that I once did. That much is indeed true. Well, "yelling" wasn't the best way to describe it. But by this point, everyone's just saying the same things over and over again so there's no use, in my opinion, in continuing at it. I know this was directed towards chuck, but I'll answer also-no. Since it's been closed.
First off. I find it overly hypocritical for a message board where over half of it's members (including mods) take every opportunity to "stick it to the man" or buck the system when it comes to our president, but when it comes down to it here, it's all "oh...you must respect my authority". Granted, I don't like Mr. Bush just like you guys don't. Then there are certain mods I don't like  But you tell me (and everyone) you are the ones in power and we just have to deal with it. I'll make sure to use that arguement next time I hear a bush rant.
Second. I am deeply saddened by the fact suze has resigned as moderator. I have nothing but the utmost respect for you, suze and I wish you wouldn't leave as moderator, but I understand as well.
third. Most of the signature concept came out of im. carrie told me what happened. I said if they thought a picture of horse's teeth would be disgusting, I wonder what would be thought of a horse's ass. in addition to that, many people followed suit just by seeing the sig. I admit, I sent out a few pm's and here is the UNedited version of one, for you strand. I'm sorry, I only have one since I went through and cleaned house on my pm box that night.
hey the reason I am pm'ing you is because of our signatures
carrie posted a pic this morning of the horse's mouth and was asked to remove it by chris. Ridiculous.
so then she started the "so sorry" thread, apologizing for offending anyone. according to chris, it was gross and everyone would be offended
so. the apology thread got deleted Imagine that.
so we are putting the below picture in our sig. you can add your own caption. that is, if you want
anyway. if not. hope you're doing well
actually, it IS edited, because when I copied/pasted it, it removed smilies. I also edited the word "offended" because I had a typo.
no where does it say..."hey..we are calling chris a horse's ass" . I can't vouch for all 12 people (was it 12?? I can't keep track) and their reasoning for putting it in their sig. Some people, I'm sure, were putting it in there for that. Others just thought the whole thing was ridiculous. Others probably thought.."hey!!! we all need a horse's ass in our sig!!! " whatever. I sent out 3 other PM's, but they all basically said the same thing.
With that said, I doubt I will leave the ledge. I knew what I was getting into when I posted that pic and I dealt with the consequences. So I'm not ready to leave yet, but if no one is left to talk to around here.... who knows.
I am glad you are staying!!!

This isn't sarcasm... but if you can suggest an alternate and viable solution, trust me, I'm all ears. :)
Here are some ideas. Most of my work is in coalition and I've run some listservs. A lot of these are easier said than done, though:
1. Moderators should only serve for a fixed period of time, maybe a year. Then they should step down or take a long break. Maybe this happens already? I think after a while the pressure builds on anyone in a 'leadership' position. This could keep people from burning out and also gives an opportunity for others to be moderators.
2. Ask for some newbies and/or lurkers to volunteer to be moderators. There might be people out there with great moderating skills who just don't like to post very much. Those would actually be the best moderators
3. Regarding the response to the horse's ass picture: while it is probably true that 'something' needed to be done if several people started posting the pic in their signature, the last thing that should have been done is something heavy-handed. Why not just go to the source and say "okay, I obviously hit a nerve here, how can we work this out". Moderating requires negotiation.
4. Don't use moderator privileges/authority to get something for yourself. The purpose of being a moderator is to make the board a good environment for the group. I think it was a mistake for a moderator to ask a member to remove a picture just because she as moderator has to look at every post. Moderators should ask/tell members to do things out of concern for the the overall environment.
5. This is the hardest one, but check yourself to make sure you're not letting power/authority get to your head. Everyone is guilty of this at times. Several years ago, I helped organize a union at my workplace --a direct attack on power. Within a year, the union members who got into a leadership position started acting just like the managers we had unionized against. I think it is human nature to be controlling and use authority against others even when we don't realize it. I'm not saying all moderators do this here, but I've seen it happen a few times since I've been here.

...
I'm sorry that you can't deal with us anymore Suze. You know that I like you a lot as a person & consider you a friend. I think you've been a very fair moderator in general.
BTW, Carrie did attempt to contact Chris privately - after the teeth & before the butt - but never received a response.
I literally just no longer have the time and energy is all.
I'm not sure how much time passed there but for me it seemd that all of a sudden there was an I'm sorry thread. I don't think she gave her the time to respond. Regardless, I think we've hashed and rehashed the whole thing, and I think all points of view have been expressed and re-expressed. Ugh!
That being said, I'm done with this situation. It's silly & stupid & I'm embarrassed that it bothers me so much & that I've spent so much time posting about it. If mods feel they can't do their job anymore, then I guess they'll have to quit. I don't blame them really, I sure as hell wouldn't want to do it. Hopefully the next group (any volunteers? ) can all remain impartial & fair, and enforce the Ledge rules the same way for every single member here.
Yeah you're right, it IS silly and stupid.
We really do try to be fair. Also, strikes and such are private matters so people are only going to hear from their friends when they get them. If someone they don't like gets one - they won't even know! We have issued warnings and strikes to people that would probably surprise some.

I have never seen a bigger bunch of crybabies in my life.
Where are we, Romper Room and Billy Joe is complaining to the big bee that Little Bobby drank his juice
Here is my take:
1. The horse's ass was posted as a direct insult to Chris. Anyone who now is equivocal on intent is full of shiitte. If you had the sand to post it, don't be a pu$$$y when called on it. You laid the fukcing card, now play it.
2. The selective posting of private PM’s is bullshiite and taking things out of context as this pissing war has been going on for months if not years in some cases.
3. The temporary banning was way over the top, as Stew said. But, what is done is done. Hopefully people can get over it.
4. Chris resigned and apologized. What the fukc else do people want? Maybe we should hog tie her and beat the living shiitte out of her. Would that suffice
In the end, you get what you give in life and all I see here is persecution, which is beneath all of us.
On a personal note, I have been stabbed in the back by more than one person on this board and on other boards. I have had people put words in my mouth and swear I said it. Moreover, I have had people accuse me of doing things I would never do in an effort to meet FM. Fortunately, at all of these times I was with more than one person who could vouch for me that the lies were just that. I have had people try to get money out of me by concocting BS stories. I suggest these actions are far worse than a moderator treating you in what you think is an unfair fashion. Yet, I shook off that BS and am friends with many of the same people who fukced me over. I think many around here could learn from that little parable because I have seen nothing here that comes close to approaching a life altering, unforgivable event
On a final note, if you want to go, then go. I think you an idiot for doing so because, and again, the naysayers protagonist is nullified. Here’s a suggestion. Instead of leaving, why not put your name in the hat to be a moderator. Let’s see how fair and impartial you are – or if you are willing to let the past go.
Tone = straight forward and pulling no punches.
:xoxo: And I can't believe you've been through all of that on here and are still here!

 well, that would not have been my response to a moderator no matter how the request was made.
guess you will just have to deal with the consequence.
I will say I am quite disturbed that this has evolved into Suze and Chris departing The Ledge. I thoroughly enjoy their posts and would hope that they will still participate. :(
As to JS, I would have followed up in the same fashion should there be mutiple signatures of a "fukc you" nature towards a moderator. So.....huggggs for ((((JS)))) :D
Oh hell no I'm not leaving! Just stepping down as mod, but not until a replacement is made.
Also, I don't think this was the first time there eff you sigs meant for mods in sigs. So in a way JS was partially justified in the temporary ban. He felt he had to do something drastic and quickly because things had gotten so out of hand. We all know he usually doesn't have knee-jerk reactions. So in my opinion that is a reflection of how bad things were.

That is usually what happens when you get a bunch of strangers together, in real life or on the internet. It can be annoying, but I don't see how you can moderate it away. And if you eliminatethe chit-chat forum then it will just play out even more in the FM-related forums.
I just wanted to bring to light that a lot of you keep referring to if the Chit Chat forum goes away...it has been taken down in the past (One more thing only us old-timers would remember, Brian ;) ). So there is precident; it's not just a theoretical solution.
When to moderate, what to moderate...it's not so cut and dry. Remember this is a board where the members call for a complete freedom of speech for everyone...except for Ethan...because he's annoying.
We are accused of "selectively enforcing the rules." For the record I don't belong to any group or clique that I can percieve, so I'm not sure who I would be "selecting." But here's some of those rules:
If all you have to add are harrassing, insulting, taunting, nasty remarks or name-calling, you'll be asked to go somewhere else.
Any statement that defames, abuses or threatens others
Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them. This includes any threats including death or bodily harm
Material that contains vulgar, obscene or indecent language
Sexually explicit language, images or other content (pornography)
Imagine if we went after every post, and poster, that could fit into one of these categories. Aside from the immense amount of time and effort that would take, there's very few of you that wouldn't end up with warnings and strikes at the end of the day.
Perhaps that is how we should move forward. My hope, is that we go after the really egregious cases and kind of have faith that the rest of you are adult enough to handle the lesser cases. Either that or we intervene when someone asks us to or when someone seems to be ganged up on. Is that wrong? IDK, you tell me.
Perhaps we are guilty of sending out too many warnings and not enough strikes. Sometimes there are posters who have gotten a number of warnings from us in the past and then, when they finally get a strike or a ban, to the group it's percieved to be for a small infraction, when there has actually been a history of, for lack of a better word, "abuses."
(Please take my words at face value; they apply to people not involved in this case and don't apply to some who are.)
I really don't want this to become a novel, but I'm telling you that we do the best we can. No one wants this to be an unwelcoming place, for long-timers or newbies, and while there's been a lot of talk about what the mods have done wrong (and mods admitting and apologizing for those things) I see very little talk about personal responsibility on behalf of the rank and file. Something to think about, and I'm sure I'll be hearing from those of you who think I'm wrong. That's OK. We're just talking, here.

Tony Iommi is the constant that I love on all the albums. The fact that he worked with so many great singers (and Ozzy  ) it's a great bonus. I'm a really big fan of all Ronnie's work as well so having them both together is great.
I agree about Tony Martin. He had one awesome voice! It's not all still there any more, but he's still pretty damn good. The vocals on Headless Cross are indeed fantastic. I'd say they're the best vocal performance (technically) on a Black Sabbath album. Such range and power...

Speaking of Tony Iommi...The Rolling Stones' Rock & Roll Circus movie was just shown on PBS during their "pledge drive week" (aren't they ALWAYS in mid-"pledge drive"?).
Jethro Tull's appearance in that movie was filmed during Tony Iommi's short tenure in the band. It was odd seeing a lefty guitarist in Jethro Tull.

I've only seen small clips of that. I know he was miming the performance, but was it a song with slide guitar and he was miming it without a slide? I seem to remember there was something strange about it like that.
Tull are another of my favourite bands so I wonder how they would have sounded if Tony had stayed. I think his leaving was for the best since this way we got plenty of classics by both bands. I can't imagine Aqualung or Thick As A Brick would have turned out the same if Tony had still been there and I love those albums, especially TAAB.

I live in the heart of tornado alley. The highest wind speed ever recorded in history (316MPH) started as a thunderstorm over this town (Carnegie).
As it moved east towards Chickasha it turned into a F5 (And off the scale - 315 MPH is the highest speed the old scale could measure) sized tornado that was close to being a 1/2 mile wide.
Oklahoma City, believe it or not, actually has more windy days per year than Chicago and is actually the windiest city in the U.S..

That's OK. We're just talking, here.
hey, I said very plainly-I took full responsibility for what I did. I knew what I was getting into and I paid the price. I'm not pissed at anyone, other than the situation itself. I think what people are failing to see here, is, it's not the fact the picture was asked to be removed. People keep harping on that, and I don't believe that to be the case. I can guarantee you (without even asking carrie) had suze or ryan or johnny stew (i'm only listing these, because they are the only mods I've really had any contact with) had asked...with 100% certainty, I'm sure it would have been removed, no problem. People see what they want to, but after so long, usually when there is smoke-there's fire not too far away. With that said, i have to be fair and say not long ago there was a misunderstanding between chris and I, and it was resolved quickly and she was nothing but respectful towards me. Within my first few weeks of joining the ledge, we had a rocky start, but I felt like all that was behind us and we could move on. But in recent weeks, I've seen the "power trip", if you will, along with the ice cold remarks to people. I'm not saying everyone has to be all smilies all the time, but damn. I just think this is something that was bound to happen sooner or later. Again, at this point I have no intention of leaving the ledge for good, but I'm not sure I can live with the "if a mod doesn't like something..buh bye" attitude. Because I can tell you right now...before I do something you don't like..i'll go ahead and say.."a-buh bye" right now. screw that ****.
on another note. Since we are all talking freely and there's really nothing left to lose-I would NEVER pick on a fellow ledgie (or anyone irl for that matter) just because they are "annoying" and you can take that to the bank. There are SEVERAL people on here who annoy the living piss out of me but I overlook their posts with ease. There are also people on here who I wouldnt' hand water to, if their **** were coming out of their ass on fire  But I rarely strike without being stricken first (didn't we have the discussion about stricken? strucken?? Strokin'.. where the **** is carrie when you need grammar lessons  ) So why is ethan any different? So why is ethan any different? Because he's not some poor little frail soul who has no friends at school, so he has to come to the ledge and get bullied by the big mean "hijackers" who can't deal with authority  Kiss my white ass-no  He intentionally stirs **** up and waits for everyone to get in a fight, and probably laughs at the ones who actually believe he's genuine. It's sad really. If I thought any of it affected him, I would never do that. But he brings it on himself, and I believe intentionally. so whatever-fwi.Just in regards to the "Ethan Situation".... as I told Carrie and a few others, if various people are convinced that he isn't who he says he is, why do they allow themselves to be manipulated by him? Why do they let themselves get in trouble over him?
Individuals don't have power -- we give it to them. Some random kid/man/woman on the internet can't rile us up... we can only ALLOW ourselves to be riled up.
If it does turn out that he only posts to raise people's blood-pressure and to stir the ****, then everyone... all of these people who feel they're strong-minded and strong-willed... have allowed him to be their puppet-master, making them act likes fools at his will.
So if this should happen to be the way that he gets his jollies, then consider this... if you don't play into his hand, he'll get bored and go away.
Unless, of course, the real truth of the matter is that people enjoy getting riled up and causing a ruckus?

Here are some ideas. Most of my work is in coalition and I've run some listservs. A lot of these are easier said than done, though....All very good suggestions, and I appreciate them... though most of them were in regards to what the moderators can do to keep themselves in check. Since the feeling has been expressed by some Ledgies that thread-deletions, warnings, strikes, etc., aren't effective means to rein-in an out-of-control situation, I was hoping for suggestions on alternate ways to handle those issues.
I would like to talk to you in private, Ryan, the next opportunity I get, so that we can discuss some of your suggestions and maybe come up with some other ideas too. :)

hey, I said very plainly-I took full responsibility for what I did. I knew what I was getting into and I paid the price...
on another note. There are also people on here who I wouldnt' hand water to, if their **** were coming out of their ass on fire  But I rarely strike without being stricken first (didn't we have the discussion about stricken? strucken?? Strokin'.. where the **** is carrie when you need grammar lessons  ) So why is ethan any different? closing, I am just sick of how everything has played out.
WOW. Well, for the record my post was not about you. I was just trying to give folks a mods eye view of things and, in a general way, rebut some of the accusations hurled at us. So whether or not YOU took responsibility or YOU would pick on another ledgie isn't really the point, though I'm glad you felt free to get some of this stuff off your chest. :)
And Ethan isn't any different. That's the point. Why do you think he is? And you obviously DO think he is because you say that you are able to ignore annoying people, yet apparently he really gets under your skin.
Chuck mentioned earlier that he posted the comments of e-mails here and why didn't he get a strike for that. I suppose that's more selective moderating, but (and for the record the mods have never discussed this so this is solely MY opinion) again we kinda tend to go after the big offenses, and I'm pretty sure that the whole posting the content of e-mails is about keeping private conversations private and not letting fights to be created over that sort of crap. I really don't think an e-mail from Sidney Sheldon (and correct me if this isn't what people are talking about) generated from his website that basically said, "Glad you're a fan. Keep writing!" qualifies. If it said, "Hey Ethan, thanks for last night." I would probably feel differently.
I also think Stew's point is spot on. I've told bunches of people, it's not like we're requiring anyone to respond to his posts and it's not like I'm a big Ethan fan. Have you noticed that other posters respond very positively to him and have actually defended his right to post on this board? Even directly responding to other posters who tell him to "please stop posting"? Are you better than them? Does your opinion carry more weight than theirs?
If you have some proof that he is not who he says he is or that he's "just trying to rile people up," please PM me, cause I'd love to see it! Until then, it's all just rumor.
We don't want to have to seriously police this board. Hell we usually agonize actually doling out any real repurcussions. But that's where the personal responsibility comes in, and by that I don't mean being willing to say, "HELL yeah, I did it!" And I really don't think any of us are completly happy about the way things have played out recently.

I think sometimes they're effective, with certain people. Perhaps even most people. In this case, there was already apparently some tension between Chris and some of the other posters, which I wonder if the other mods were aware of. It takes some creativity, and honestly, I know we all have lives and trying to figure out a shrewd way to handle a skirmish on an Internet message forum is probably not real high on most people's list of priorities. You do what you can. Sometimes it turns out to be the smart thing to do, and sometimes not.

There has been a FDA recall for Composix Kugel Mesh Patch (Kugel Hernia Patch) which may have been used in my Mom's surgery (Which was a ventral hernia):
Composix Kugel Mesh Patch
Kugel Hernia Patch
The FDA issued a Class I recall for the Composix Kugel Mesh Patch the strongest recall available to the FDA reserved for dangerous or defective products that predictably could cause serious health problems or death. The Class I recall was issued on December 22, 2005, and then updated on March 31, 2006, to include additional lots of defective patches.
The Composix Kugel Mesh Patch is used to repair ventral (incisional) hernias caused by thinning or stretching of scar tissue that forms after surgery. The patch is placed behind the hernia defect through a small incision. The patch is then held open by a memory recoil ring that allows the patch to be folded for insertion and later spring open and lay flat once it is in place.
The FDA says surgeons and hospitals should immediately stop using the recalled products and return the unused patches to the company.
Patients who have been implanted with one of the recalled devices should seek immediate medical attention if they experience:
Persistent or unexplained abdominal pain
Fever
Tenderness at implant site
Any other unusual symptoms
I wonder, could this may have been the cause of my Mom's death? The doctor's summary states that a mesh patch was used for her procedure.

I would say this is definitely something to investigate.
think about this - why would a representative, for the company whose mesh patch is being recalled, be an observer in the O.R. for my Mom's surgery?
Mom's inital surgery was March 7,2005, the recall was not made until Dec.22,2005 (Long after her death on March 21,2005) so I am sure that rep wasnt there to make sure the product defect had been corrected (Which I doubt since another recall was made in March 2006 and yet a third in Jan.2007)
According to the 'Operative Assement Report" made on March 15,2005 "the mesh on the fascia had not healed at all and was lifting up. This was removed by removing the retention sutures." It should not be lifting up, unless the 'memory recoil ring' failed - which is why the recall was made.
If it did fail then that explains the next sentence in the "Operative Assement Report" - "The fascia was then opened along its incision line and approximately 2000 milliters of fluid, green-tinged, were removed from the abdominal cavity under great pressure".
The next 2 sentences after that states "The small bowel was run in its entirety. A small perforation was found in the proximal portion which was clipped with an Allis clamp and cotinued to taken down adhesions."
I've called the lawyer we used to get his opinion and I am awaiting his call back.

too, especially that giraffe Rebecca Lobo
So come Nov.15th Candance Parker & the Lady Vols are playing Courtney Paris & the Lady Sooners in the ESPN Women's Basketball Invitational in Tampa Bay - the battle of the Player of the Years.
OU has a player like Bobbitt, but shorter (Probably 5'-0") who can nail the 3's with ease, I cant seem to remember her name (She is a full blooded Native American) since she wasnt a starter until the end of the season, then she was on fire.
Even though I hate O-Who, I do like their women's basketball team...But I like the Lady Vols moreso, so this game should be great.

Well, had bloodwork done this morning and my blood sugar count has averaged 115 for the past 3 months, this morning it was 90 - so I am NOT diabetic. That is good to know, but now it appears the cyst in my melon is starting to cause alot of the problems I am starting to suffer from...

also thinking that I really want to get a tattoo of the new zealand ferm at the bottom of my neck because this feels like my home more than any other country I've lived in but i move around so much that I kinda feel like I love them all. I need an irish rose, I need something for germany my homeland and a union jack cause that's where I had my early growing up years and i'm also proud of my arabic descent but it doesn't feel like a home of mine. i can't get them all so I'm thinking the new zealand fern or next inline would be something german.
in inverted colours i'd like to carry this symbol with me forever.

I like progressive metal, but none of the bands I listen to whine (ala EMO) about "feeling their pain".
Actually, I prefer death metal which makes modern punk bands (I like the classics like the Pistols, The Misfits Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag, The Ramones, etc.) sound like country/western acts

punk >>>>>>>>>>> death metal.

death metal is about people with long hair doing huge guitar solos, screaming suicidal lyrics that you can't hear and just making a sound that's too loud to interpret.
deathmetal is about shock value and pushing music to the extremes (Btw, not all death metal has suicidal lyrics, it is just deemed 'death metal' since the words 'thrash metal' became somewhat archaic - basically modern day death metal is similar to the late 80's thrash in lyric content only. And late 80s thrash borrowed lyric content from the punk influence...)
Btw, My sister is a punk

deathmetal is about shock value and pushing music to the extremes.punk is about pushing societies to extremes. god save the queen was one of the most truthful songs that came out of the era cause it reflected britain at the time and the future of kids being left being and who wouldn't want to jump around and maybe onto a drum kit 'cause of that? plus punk has that old time sound thats so much nicer to listen to than screaming on keys that might as all be one key cause you cant even tell.

I don't know, there's nothing more "**** you" than a good punk rock record. Lots of people think that The Ramones, The Clash, and The Pistols were the only bands to come out of the punk rock scene, but there are many more that are just as great. Take for instance, The Avengers, one of the bands from the LA punk scene of the late 70s/early 80s. Songs like "Thin White Line," "Cheap Tragedies," and "Corpus Christi" pack more punch in a catchy punk tune than anything I've ever heard. Also, X has been consistent with their political punk/rockabilly style. Exene Cervenka may be tiny, but she could kick anyone's ass if she had to. And don't even get me started on The Stooges and The MC5. Nothing in the world will ever top the energy and passion those two groups turned into records.
I've never really heard anything woe-as-me come from a good punk rock band. Except maybe "Singles Going Steady" from The Buzzcocks, but that's a damn good album so I can't hold it against them.
I'll always be completely devoted to punk rock. I gotta agree with Fur here, you absolutely cannot compare the two. Punks and metalheads will never get along. I think it's written in the bible somewhere

I do sometimes enjoy the spirit and attitude of spit-in-your-face punk, but there is some serious musical thrashing to be done in the metal world. I love bands like Cradle of Filth because that **** is like classical music on crystal meth. The instrumental parts are so musical.. but they're fkkin ANGRY!!!!!!!!
