Hello once again Ledgies.
Ok. So I realize that perhaps I may have gone about my "posting return" in the wrong fashion. Perhaps instead of waiting for so long - I should have voiced the opinions I voiced back when they were relevant. Timing has never been my strong suit. Be that as it may - I realize things got a little ugly - but I really was never looking to stir up a hornet's nest.
My initial post was born of frustration, sadness and anger. Just take a look at my join date - I've been here for a long time - and well I was just more frustrated than I'd ever been.
I did not mean to target any one person, if I did, or if you feel attack or targeted then I apologize for that. If anyone was offended by my post - well I apologize for that as well, I was not looking to offend.
I do stand by my beliefs but I'm big enough to apologize when I need to and I have heard that some people were hurt by what I said. I wish said people would have spoken up before things got ugly - but alas. The same has been said to me, "Why didn't I speak up earlier". I thought I could just leave and forget...
But I like the Ledge and Ledgies too much and people are right that a select few should not be allowed to ruin it for me. I didn't even take enough time to see if the people I had a problem with were still around when I posted what I did a while back.
I know I came in here more negatively than anything else - anger and frustration do that to a person. But I do believe there are wonderful and good aspects to the Ledge as well. I'm just a more pessimistic person and it's easy for me to let the bad outweight the good.
So someone telling me to simply ignore what bothers me? That doesn't work. I commend those it DOES work for - but we're all different and sadly, I am not one who easily turns a blind eye.
So I just wanted to put this out there. I was honest in my first post, angry in subsequent ones - now I'm back to being honest again.
If it's still "not fair" of me to air what I have to say - then so be it, I was so open about everything else around here - I just wanted to be open about the reasons for my hiatus :o
and to quote a brilliant movie...oh wait, actually it kind of sucked....but whatever...

Deanna - I appreciate your candor, and am glad that you decided to be honest about your feelings. I also understand that it might not be easy for you to ignore some of those around you.
Still, this is a good board, with lots of really good people and whether you return or not (and I hope you do), I hope you remember that.:xoxo:

Welcome back, Deanna. It's a big world out there(AND on the Ledge), and we just all have to accept each others differences, without getting offended by doing so.

I don't think I missed you because I wasn't here at that time!?! :blob2:
I'd had my hissy fit and left this room.
BUT,
A few familiar people here mentioned to me that I, or rather some of my opinions and posts, were missed and maybe I should at some point return.
Well I have. At least for the time being.
I think it's the same with any "regular". Yourself, seteca, diss, Brian, any of the usual suspects. They are missed. I have noticed just how many new recruits we have lately though too.
Heaven forbid if Amber stopped posting along with Dissention. I think Marty's bandwidth would fall quicker than a popularity poll for "W".
If I had been here when you left I would have missed you, but I wasn't so I didn't, but I would have. If you know what I mean.

Oh I had a hissy fit once and vowed never to return and yet here I am.
I definitely think this place has changed for the worse. I really miss a lot of the old names. The Stevie forum is pretty much alien to me now sadly.
Thank god for Amber, that's all I have to say.
Anyway glad yourself and Deanna are back!
I think it's like any community. People move away, some return, some are new and have fresh views. Some are based here for all eternity. Some rarely post, and to counteract that we have Amber too (18500 posts and running). :xoxo:
I'm sure a lot of the old guard will return if/when something Mac based happens. I tend to post more when I'm either bored or in some kind of emotional healing process. This place is my internet version of comfort eating!

Chow down! Hehe. I have my hissy fits too, I think we all do. I agree that this is a microcosm of the world out there. Generally I like it here alot. Right now I read 10 questions for a test I am QA'ing and then catch up with you fine people, rinse and repeat. Hehe. I need some comforting after reading this drivel! It's funny to think there was a weird backlash against Amber that time by someone very bitter. She's my favourite Ledgie of all. This place is just wrong without her.
Yes I thought all that stuff was out of order too. I think Amber has become the unofficial calming influence here. Everytime a thread starts to get abusive or out of hand Amber throws in a totally random post and everyone gets thrown off the subject. She's the Peacekeeper.
Can you imagine the Ledge without ChiliD complaining that Rumours is overrated and the Time line-up is under-appreciated?
In a word no... It's as unthinkable as the sun stopping burning. :]

Yeah I guess so. I do miss the mammoth Mac discussions there used to be, (although I guess Jyqm has been bringing that back a little which is cool)
I participate almost exclusively in Mac-related threads these days and do what I can to encourage them, but I definitely can't take all or even most of the credit there. There have been some especially great threads in the Rumours forum lately, but I didn't start any of them: madformac's new "Reinvention" thread, Boots' "Blue Letter" thread (I mean, it's not quite as good as my "Blue Letter" thread, but what could be, really?), StephenC's "Wish List" thread, bikerchic's "Go Your Own Way" thread, Janet's "The Dance" thread (I think some people got annoyed by that one at one point, but I really enjoyed it). And there's always good stuff going down on the less-trafficked forums, albeit at a much slower pace. The Stevie forum has its good moments too, you just need to pick and choose your threads carefully.
Don't look for me much (or at all, really) in the month of March and part of the beginning of April, though. I'll be globetrottin' all over the place.

Well I'm a "Libran Tiger" which means I'm supposed to have some balance I think. You would have to ask Amber, she's our resident astrologist.
Lately though the scales have been tipping back to wreckless abandon. I'm trying to find my equilibrium once more before I go totally off the rails....

And what about how him and David know everything and were at all the shows? They know more stuff about Mac than I've forgotten about everything....Don't categorize me that way. I hate that, I absolutely hate that.
I lived through a particular Fleetwood Mac era as a teenager & did exactly the same thing as all the kids on this board are doing today: buying all the magazines, taping all the TV & radio interviews, going to all the concerts in my state, yabbing on about the band to anyone who will listen, buying concert photos (of course these days you just download them off the Web), trading bootlegs & listening to all of them day & night in order to memorize them, playing Fleetwood Mac songs on the piano or the kitchen counter, compiling tour dates on a typewriter, communicating with Fleetwood Mac pen pals (no e-mail then) like Aaron Muentz & Kip Lupton & Roland Benoit, buying Fleetwood Mac sheet music, attending fan conventions, spending hours in the county assessor's office to find Stevie's & Lindsey's & Christine's home addresses, cutting out all the Fleetwood Mac articles in newspapers & magazines I located with the Readers Guide to Periodical Literature, spending hours in front of the magazine rack every weekend to find & buy every last mention of the band in Hit Parader or Creem or RS, scoping out the Calendar section of the L.A. Times every day (especially the big section on Sundays) to find every last club appearance of the Fleetwood Macsters, naming the cars I drove after Fleetwood Mac songs, putting KLOS Fleetwood Mac stickers all over my bumpers & my doors, having Fleetwood Mac dreams, having Fleetwood Mac nightmares, grinding my teeth in time to Mick's drumming, sketching top hats in art class, etc. etc. etc.
All the fans today do exactly the same things I did back then. The only difference is they're doing it ... today! But there's no difference between all of them & me. I just don't do it any more because I think Fleetwood Mac are old & fat. :o :D :(

For those who may have wondered why I havent posted much as of late, I havent left, Just been very ill this week.
Went out of town to visit family last weekend and when we came home I came down with bronchitis (Which I still have a bad case of), And to make things worse I developed an infecton in my right hand which started to spread up my arm (Most of the infection is gone, but my hand is still very tender and painfilled!) so typing was not an option to say the least.
Oh, And to make my week so much more great my health care provider turned down my appt. for an MRI, I guess the $7000+ pricetag was too high a cost for 'em...So I will sit here and suffer with this ongoing neurological non-sense until we can find another option (Let's say my doctor "Doogie" isnt in the least not happy!!!)

If I can make a couple of gentle comments:
First, I think if someone has an issue with a specific person, or people, then it would be helpful to name them, rather than saying you left because of behavior of "some people". I spent some time wondering if I was one of those people, having participated in many of the chit-chat threads.
Also, while I totally get and respect that many people have been here a long time and have made friendships, there have been a lot of posts lately about how things suck with the new people and all the good ones are gone, etc. Like I said, I get the sentiment, but those kinds of posts don't seem very welcoming to newer people who already have trouble breaking through the cliques and personalities to engage with people.
Anyway, I don't believe I've chatted with you much, DrummerDeanna, but I'm glad that you came back to a place you enjoy and I appreciate your honest posts.

Not only that, but the mysteriousness of starting a thread that says "some people's comments" were offensive and forced her to leave is really only inflammatory. Of course people are going to feel defensive because, as Rickypt said, we've all participated in threads on chit chat at one time or another, and some of us much more than others. I don't know if Deanna was trying to be inflammatory, or if she just wasn't really considering the reaction her audience would have after reading her statements and accusations. If it's the latter, then it could have been handled differently and more tactfully. If it's the former, then I'd say she succeeded.

Sorry you're so sick. Bronchitis is awful. So painful. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Damn. Brian _ I'm sorry to hear that you're still having health issues :( That really sucks.
I hope one day you can get to feeling back to normal and good health!
