This is very sad, Chris was only 40. He was in a TV show that I liked that never got off the ground, I think last year. It was based in northern New England and centered around a family of small towners, firefighters, police officers, and politicians. It costarred Mare Winningham. The writing and acting were good and I really liked it. It just wasn't even given a chance and didn't have a good time slot either if I remember correctly. I feel bad for his family, bad timing for making fun of Sean (no offense meant to anyone). :(

I saw on tee-vee this morning "Chris Penn 1962 - 2006" which would put him at 43.

My guess: cardiac arrest.

That's so sad. There was a picture on CNN of Martin Sheen leaving his residence with Chris's mother. I really feel for her and the rest of his family.

I saw his birthdate as '65 in two places, including IMDB. Maybe reporters got it from IMDB and that is wrong. I saw both 43 and 40 reported as his age in different articles.

RIP:angel:I've heard that the majority of men that suffer first Heart Attacks from 40-50 usually die. Is that right? I figured someone like you might know.

Well, since most happen in the home at night, I would say yes. There's no one around to start CPR....which decreases the possbility of living greatly.

AT CLOSE RANGE IS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES!!!!

Its like the BEST MOVIE EVER that no one has ever seen before. Its so funny that I 1st saw the movie for the 1st time in 1989 on HBO. I sat through the movie for every second and LOVED IT!!! I had no idea, until the credits rolled. I was only 11 at the time. As soon as I saw the credits when it thanked the town of Franklin TN my mouth dropped. Anyway if anyone gives a rat's ass, the movie was shot all over where I grew up. From the opening scenes at the town square(I use to hang out there with friends). To the dirty car laundry scheme(ive been up and down that road a million times). To my grade school nuns that briefly met Madonna, as she was jogging down the street with Sean in Nashville during 85.

One of the BEST MOVIES EVER, that no one has really ever heard of!

Special thanks to the lighting department who gave the movie a real creepy lighting feel. Many more special thanks to the Live To Tell song and theme Madonna wrote with Stephan Bray(I think) that totally set the mood of the film.

PS screw spell check im tired and going to bed!

I used to get hammered at Chez Jay's all the time. Didn't eat there much, so I can't comment on the steaks, but it's a great dive bar...*sigh* Poor Chris...

Friend Says Drugs And Diet Killed Chris Penn

January 31, 2006 6:30 a.m. EST

Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer

Los Angeles, California (BANG) - Chris Penn allegedly died after a dangerous last supper of steak, alcohol and chocolate milkshakes.

The 'Reservoir Dogs' actor is believed to have had a huge heart attack caused by his unhealthy diet and alleged penchant for alcohol and drugs.

Chris - who was found dead at his Santa Monica home on Tuesday (01/24/06) - was last seen three days earlier during a nine-hour food and drink binge at local pub Chez Jay.

A close friend is quoted in Britain's News of the World as saying: "He ordered the biggest steak and washed it down with pint after pint of beer and his other favorite drink, chocolate milkshake.

"Usually he'd think nothing of ordering five steaks, a couple of portions of fish and chips, followed by pints of chocolate milkshake and shots of 130 per cent strength whiskey.

"Chris lived on the edge and didn't give a damn about the health risks. If it wasn't food or drink he was having to excess, it was cocaine."

Chris - the brother of Oscar-winning actor Sean Pen - reportedly also regularly splashed out $300 a time on cocaine and also smoked crack.

His best friend, actor Bobby Cooper, said: "Chris died because he loved doing everything to the excess."
