So I thought the girls were pretty boring last night. The kept singing these serious songs and none of the judges seemed to be too impressed. I think I enjoyed Kelly the most not because she had great vocals but she picked a good, upbeat, entertaining song. I think Heather and Brenna will be gone this week. Neither was too good.

I only got to see Brenna and Paris. Brenna was terrible, Paris was good but boring song, zzzzzzzzzz...

Dull dull dull.

Kelly, Mandisa & Melissa were great.

Ayla, Paris & Lisa were OK, but kind of drab.

Heather & Kinnik were boring as hell.

Brenna & Katherine sucked. Kind of upset about Katherine, she was great last week. :shurg:

we are on the same wavelength here. I totally agree...just not a good night for the girls as a whole. Mandisa (still my favorite) picked the wrong song, I think and she did have a few "off" notes, but she held it together.

The girls were awfully dull last night.

Katharine- still my favorite female, even though she was boring last night.

Brenna- Bye bye!

Heather- Maybe bye for her, too. She was awful. Pretty, though.

Kelly Pickler- full of sh*t. Seriously- she is taking this southern redneck schtick a little too far.

I thought Melissa was pretty good. I think a guy is going to win this year, and I think it will be between Taylor, Elliott, and Chris.

Brenna- Bye bye!
god I hope so - I can't stand her. I've been giving her the TV evil eye since day one.
Heather- Maybe bye for her, too. She was awful. Pretty, though.
she has the thickest neck, next to Melissa I think I've ever seen...
Kelly Pickler- full of sh*t. Seriously- she is taking this southern redneck schtick a little too far.
I think so too...but I still think she's really cute. I wonder if she's faking a lot of it. Did anyone notice she had on Jessica Simpson's line footwear? Maybe she's got another kind of idol in mind.

Melissa will go really far I think. Dykes (and I say that with love and respect, no one get offended) everywhere are probably using text messaging for the first time. I hope Ace or Mandisa win this year.

I agree completely with everything you said. Heather and Brenna need to go. Lisa and Kellie were the best, though I hate to admit it because neither are favorites of mine. Melissa wasn't too bad either. Katharine was totally dull--I was really disappointed. I usually always vote, but no one was good enough to inspire me to pick up the phone last night. Next week I hope they sing more upbeat songs.

I think Brenna & Kinnik will be out.

The whole cowgirl schtick didn't work for Kinnik. It didn't seem authentic compared to her normal glamorous drag queen vibe. She can really sing though, so she should stay maybe another week.

What is it with all these people doing country? Are they trying to ride Carrie's coattails?

Kelly Pickler- full of sh*t. Seriously- she is taking this southern redneck schtick a little too far.

Yup. She is totally overdoing it and playing dumb which is just stupid, but I guess she has a little "persona" she can play up so that she doesn't get lost in the crowd like some of the other girls. The tall basketball playing girl, the other bleach blonde (not Kelly) and the husky voiced girl (can't remember what she sang) are like vanilla to me, bleh, boring.

I am all about Mandisa. Girl can sing, I hope she wins the whole competition! I don't like Wind Beneath My Wings, but Paris can sing, and I thought she did a good job. Livia, I agree with you, the first girl who performed last night is one of my faves too. Why can't I remember any names??

More about North Carolinians... You know you're from North Carolina if:

1. You measure distance in minutes.

2. You've had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

3. You know what a 'tar heel' is.

4. You see a car running in the parking lot at the store with no one in it, no matter what time of the year.

5. You use "fix" as a verb. Example: I am fixing to go to the store.

6. All the festivals across the state are named after a fruit,
vegetable, grain, insect or animal.

7. You install security lights on your house and garage.... and leave both unlocked.

8. You carry jumper cables in your car... for your OWN car.

9. You know what "cow tipping" is.

10. You only own four spices: salt, pepper, Texas Pete and catsup.

11. The local papers cover national and international news on one page but require 6 pages for local gossip and sports.

12. You think that the first day of deer season is a national holiday.

13. You find 100 degrees Fahrenheit "a little warm."

14. You know all four seasons: almost summer, summer, still summer, and Christmas.

15. You know whether other North Carolinians are from east, west, or middle North Carolina as soon as they open their mouths or by the barbecue they eat.

1. Chris (love his gravelly voice)
2. Gedeon (I don't care how unpopular he seems to be, I really like him)
3. Elliot (Most consistent vocally)

Others:

Will (like his tone, even though he picks boring songs. He mentioned Justin. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!)
Kevin (likable hobbit with weird lisp-y voice)
Bucky (seems nice, but eh)
David (I love crooners, but sheebus. Seems like a really great, nice guy tho)
Taylor (he's not picking interesting songs, but I like him)
Sway (Ugh. Go home please, thanks)

I love Chris. I think he should win. I can totally see him singing with a band and doing songs that would actually be on the radio and be cool.

Taylor, man, I'm rooting for him but that performance was not all that great. I love that song though.

Gideon, Elliott, and Chris were the best. Chris's performance was outstanding.

I thought Sway did a good job and I don't normally like him! I thought the judges were waaaaay too critical of his performance. I agree. I thought they were going to really go after Kevin because his performance was awful and they didn't. I thought Sway sounded a little like Stevie Wonder too and I think that was the problem according to the judges. Sway needed to put his own touch to the song and he didn't.

It's funny because whenever some people try to put their own touch on an established song the judges go after them with pitchforks, but then when other contestants try to live up to the original vocals of the song they're covering the Judges cry foul because it sounds too much like the original. Their comments are not consistent. My real feeling is that there are certain people by this time in the competition that they're sick of and want out of there, and this is their way to get them out.

I don't know what happened. Last week I would have said that the song selections were better than they have been in the past. More rock songs (like Mandisa with Heart) and fewer boy-band wannabes. But this week? Ugh. I agree. Though I didn't mind Bucky's version of Garth Brooks. And I hate Garth Brooks. People, just because you are from the South you do not have to represent (as they're all saying) by singing Country!

I am so sick of Stevie Wonder songs...****! I thought they were just as boring as the girls, except for Chris and Elliot. Ace was fine, as usual, but he really worked the camera a bit much.

here's my list in order:

Chris - awesome...the best of both nights
Elliot - very smooth voice. I like him, but lord he ain't nothin' to look at.
Ace - he must stay simply to look at. he's got a nice voice but boy is it thin
Bucky - he seems like such a sweet country boy. I want to see what else he can do.
Gedeon - don't like him, but he has a nice originality
Will and David - love them...they are by no means the best, but I just love to look and listen to them...I like David more
Sway - yuck...me no likey
Kevin - he's just a little joke...I feel bad for him, let him go already
Taylor - sick of that cajun, bayou yipping and yelling during his songs and his terret's is really acting up these days

Awww, come on now. Granted, his mugging and yelping are getting a bit annoying but I think he's one of the only people in this competition who truly loves what he sings, and he likes good music. He likes good old fashioned soul music which is really cool. However, he hasn't yet proven that he's a strong enough singer to win this competition so he better step it up a notch!

Preach it. Just because they are in a cowboy hat and wearing boots and singing a hick song, doesn't mean they are 'representin'. Drives.me.insane.

Okay, so Paula was high as sh*t and Simon was messing with her, trying to make her look like an idiot. Not that she needs much help, but wow. Did ya'll SEE her explain why Heather and Kinnik were in the bottom two? "Because one ate pizza and the other one had a salad." And the advice she gave to Sway and Kevin was too incoherent to repeat. Baffling and embarrassing.

Paula needs to be in rehab yesterday. She is quite an embarrassment.

I'm glad Heather and Brenna are gone. But I wish Bucky would have gone instead of either of the two guys. Not that I liked David or Sway necessarily, but Bucky gets on my last nerve, right down to his name. I hope he doesn't make the finals at the very least.

David - seems like a super nice guy and I like that he's got an "old soul", but he didn't show versatility and he wasn't that strong of a singer. Maybe in a few years, he can follow in Harry and Michael's footsteps. :) He was a cutie, for sure.

Sway - I don't think he connected with people. Plus, his voice wasn't very strong or unique.

Heather - Huh? Wha? Sorry, don't remember her.

Brenna - Act like a beyotch and people will hate you. Bye bye.

Oh and Paula....just say no.

I wonder too. They must have known she was high before they went on air and no one made any attempt to keep her from talking. I think Ryan even asked her a direct question or two. Simon was feeding her those asinine things to say, trying to see how much he would get her to repeat. That was certainly calculated on his part.

I officially love Mandisa. I really do. Katharine didn't do badly either, though she looked like she had just walked in from the grocery store, or class, or a trip to the mall. She didn't look bad, but I guess I'm expecting some attempt at style. I suppose I should appreciate that she doesn't look like she was attacked by crazed stylists like some of the others do. Paris was disappointing and Lisa was BORING. Can those two pick a decent song please?

Ayla and Kinnik were the worst tonight, though probably it will be Melissa and Kinnik going home. Though I like her, I have to say that Melissa had a look of desperation to her tonight when she was performing.

honestly, I'm bored with the whole show, except for Chris and Ace. the people on this show really aren't anything special. Mandisa is great, but I noticed last night that I could pick up on something missing in her voice...she's belting, that's for sure, but it seems like she has a limited range or something...I don't know what it is, but there's a lack of something there. The rest of the girls can eat it, as far as I'm concerned. Some are better than others, but none are worthy of a title like AI, imo. It's just a bad season. I don't see anyone being consistent.

I like her too and I'd like to see what else she can do. Her confidence and pep need to pick up tho. One thing that I think about is how strained her voice already sounds (or maybe that's just how it sounds) - how is she going to be able to stand the rest of the competition, tour and all that if she wins?

and I'm noticing too that Paris isn't standing out to me anymore.

Katherine sucks. I can't stand her. Ayla, poor thing, looked like a damn praying mantis on that stage - she's just SO out of place. Lisa is way boring. She kind of favors Aaliyah, but girl needs to pick songs that don't make me want to kill myself. Kelly's ok. I don't really care one way or the other.

I think Melissa (she's the one who sang Heart right?) has a cool, gravely voice. I like it. I also thought she did a good job with What About Love, which is a hard one to sing---not just anyone can pull it off, the vocals are brutal, so I give her props for attempting it and doing a good job.

Mandisa was outstanding again! I love her, and think she has the best personality out of each and every one of those other girls. Kellie Pickler is getting on my last nerve too Jannie, she has actually become grating. What she doesn't realize, while creating an image for herself, is that she's turning off quite a few people who see right through her dumb, southern blonde schtick and think it's stupid. When she said she had smoked salmon for the first time I was like  give me a break. Yeah, YOU never had salmon, sure, right. Ugh.

Looking forward, I wonder what Chris is going to sing tonight? I'm always interested to see/hear his performance. Oh, and little nerd needs to go. I am really starting to loathe him just for the fact that he continues to be voted through.

I know, that's weird. And he keeps giving Lisa props but criticizing her poor song choices. It's like, first they talk about how talented homegirl is then then sh*t on the songs she performs. Doesn't make sense. I thought she was beyond boring and forgettable, but Simon and Paula keep talking about how talented she is, and how she'll "sail through to the next round," despite the fact that her song choices suck and she's basically just boring up there. The judges should only give comments about the performance at hand, not about how talented someone is, I mean, if certain contestants keep doing sucky boring songs then how does that display their talent? It makes no sense.

It's frustrating as frick when they are always talking out of both sides of their mouth. Back in Season 1, Simon crapped on Justin singing Sunny saying that he was "outsung by 3 gulls" when that is ridiculous because what if he had sung first that night? Gedeon - I love him! Yeah, he talks weird, but he's got stage presence and a great ol' soul. I'm actually voting for him and ONLY him.

Taylor - Looked like he was being electrocuted. LOL I like him alright and I'm sure he'll be safe tomorrow night.

Chris - Eh, didn't know the song and he was just okay tonight for me. Still a fave though.

Elliot - I thought it was okay. I love that song. Can't believe he's 90% deaf in one ear.

Ace - PLEASE GOD, let him go home tomorrow!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! I know he won't though.

Kevin, Bucky - It's time to go.

Will - Wasn't his best, but his voice is great and he's a cute lil guy. :)

Who was in lust with Ace's falsetto???

oh, that was nice, real, real nice. love him. love him.

I dunno. It was okay at first, and yes, he's certainly cute, but it hurt my ears after a while. I'm not sure why they keep telling him it's so good? But then again I somehow still find him boy-toyishly attractive. I'm so conflicted.

I thought Gedeon and Taylor did the best tonight. I liked Chris, but I want to hear him sing some different kinds of songs. His voice reminds me of being in college, getting wasted to Pearl Jam or Live or something. But maybe all I really want is for him to just sing "Jeremy" or "I Alone" or "Flies in the Vaseline" while I rock out in my living room...Sorry for that trip down my own little memory lane. :)

At any rate, I hope Kevin and Peter Brady go tomorrow night.

Taylor is on my last nerve. I can't stand him.

Actually, I don't like any of the guys. They all can go home.

Chris and Bucky: Ugh...Overplayed voice that you hear over and over on the radio

Gedeon: I have to look away while he sings.

Kevin: Total statue...boring performances...boring vocals

Will: He's ok.

Ace: Poser.

Elliot: Weakest Performance.

Gedeon - I love him! Yeah, he talks weird, but he's got stage presence and a great ol' soul. I'm actually voting for him and ONLY him.

I actually said to Marty 'I wonder if he had a speech impediment when he was young' because there is a 'different' quality to his speech, like he is making a conscious effort to form words correctly. My son is severely speech impaired so maybe my ears are more sensitive to things like this...i would consider it a huge blessing if Ben speaks like Gedeon someday. Another reason why the guy is starting to get more under my skin.
And he looked great in that pink shirt.

Ace-- the falsetto got old real quick. I'm so thinking he's gay now, my gay-dar is just going off constantly. does anyone else think this? he seems way too gentle and sensitive and kind to be straight. he is awfully nice to look at so i don't mind if he stays around awhile longer.

Chris-- couldn't get into that song. great singer though.

Taylor-- is losing a bit of weight and looks pretty hot when he's not spazzing around like a kid who needs his Ritalin. Good performance but the tics are out of control.

no one else stood out enough for me to even comment on.

Ace -- Personally, I found the song annoying. He's cute, but I am still not that impressed vocally.

Chris -- My fave, though tonight wasn't his best.

Taylor -- Did a respectable job with the Doobies song, but the "moves" have got to go.

Bucky -- Eh.

Will -- Cute, but eh.

Elliott -- He did fairly well, but I don't get all the love for him.

Kevin -- Goodbye, please.

Gedeon -- I like him and his style.

I see Taylor has started the "change". I knew they would try to make him look younger and hipper if it looked like he was going to make the top twelve. The hair definately lost a bit of its gray. The guys "dancing" was beyond annoying and he looked like an eight year old who needed his ritalin. Utterly ridiculous.

I like Chris but tonight was not his best performance.
Ace is a cute boy toy but vocally, I am not convinced. Lis, I do not think he is gay. He has a girlfriend who is a beautiful, black, model/actress. Someone posted a picture of the two on one of the boards. I believe it said they have been a couple for about a year or so. :wavey:

Taylor is still my favorite. I don't know that he is really in control of his dance moves? He just seems so *into* his performances. But it could be a shtick like dummy Kellie. I hope not!

I wonder about Ace, too (the gay thing). He is just adorable but he does seem a bit contrived, too.

I actually thought Bucky gave his best performance last night. He still needs to go, though.

And Kevin. I think they (American Idol) are doing this kid a huge disservice by making him feel like he has any amount of talent. Last night he reminded me of a little boy performing at his grandparent's nursing home. I know he can hold a tune, but so can my eleven year old step-son. Just because he can sing in key doesn't mean he needs to be on American Idol!

This season as a whole is pretty boring for me.

And Kevin... Last night he reminded me of a little boy performing at his grandparent's nursing home...

   ITA! He's sixteen but he's very immature and the song choices (and lisp) reflect that. He does have a nice sounding voice though and he can sing in tune, maybe he'll be ready in the future but he is not now.

I hate Gedeon's hair, I know, how shallow of me.

I usually don't even watch Taylor because the antics get too weird for me but I love the sound of his voice - I just listen.

Bucky was good last night I thought! The mustache needs to go.

Will, not bad, stupid song, not in the same league with the others.

Chris, boring song, good performance. I'm with you, Sorceress, bust out the Pearl Jam!

Elliot sounds good but I don't get the whole thing with him either. Maybe if he picked songs that really moved me I'd feel differently. Didn't he do Bryan Adams? WTF? Too vanilla.

At any rate, I hope Kevin and Peter Brady go tomorrow night.

Yup, they are dead weight at this point. I can't stand that Will guy, actually, I hope he get the LEAST number of votes because that guy is a little drama kid wannabe. Ugh. He always tries to be "on show" and has anyone else noticed his horribly fake smile that he puts on anytime he senses that the cameras are on him? It's not natural, it's all immature fakery. The boy is grating. Get him out of here.

Taylor was hysterical last night. I laughed so hard tears were running down my face. I'll say this for him, he's having fun and acting like he doesn't give two sh*ts what people think so hats off to him! I like his voice, he sounded better last night than last week that's for sure. That song choice was perfect for him.

Chris let me down a bit, I was hoping for something a bit more engaging. I didn't understand what Simon meant when he said that Chris's performance was too self-indulgent. I didn't think his song choice last night was any different than ithe stuff he normally sings .

Gideon was good, he just needs to control his mouthal  movements.

Elliott wasn't that great last night and Ace is just eye candy with no vocal substance.

Bucky--- meh.

Well the thing is, haven't they all been singing Stevie Wonder already ?

I know I've heard at least 5 people sing his songs so far.

I am not excited about Stevie Wonder week either.

The only positive is that perhaps Chris will rock "Higher Ground."

The biggest negative is that some dumbass will no doubt do "I Just Called To Say I Love You."

It is at that moment that I will vomit.
