I think the only movie I have even gone to see this year was Just Friends.
It was pretty damn funny so I 'll go with that one.

Yes. Vera Farmiga and Hugh Dillon are so good in it. I believe it was released in NY & LA in November after kicking around a bunch of festivals for most of the year, but I saw a screener copy of it. I doubt it'll get a wide release.

The Descent (best horror film of the year)
Christ, I jumped out of my seat ten feet into the air when one of those creature things first appeared out of nowhere. Horrifying. Why can't they make horror movies that good in the States?
I saw a bootleg of Wolf Creek and thought that one was ****, though. So awful.
Most disturbing:
Mysterious Skin
I still don't know if I liked that one or not. But it certainly was disturbing.

The Descent is awesome  Very few films scare me but that one had me jumping out of my seat too.
Wolf Creek is okay nothing special.
As for Mysterious Skin, and The Woodsman for that matter, I didn't like either really, although they were well done, but they definitely disturbed me. I felt sick after seeing The Woodsman, it was horrible.

Definitely the most disturbing movie I've seen this year. I haven't decided whether or not I should have gone to it.

I fell asleep. A thoroughly vacuous affair that thing was. Gilliam needs to take another long vacation. I hear "Tideland" is an even bigger turkey, unfortunately.

I cannot imagine how you can fall asleep at a film that apeals so much to all your senses.
Maybe I am more sensible??

Maybe you're more easily entertained. :p
It didn't appeal to anything of mine. I thought it was crap. One giant mess of a movie. Lazy script, hamfisted acting, flat jokes, and lacking almost everything that makes Gilliam a good filmmaker. No wonder it was shelved for two years and then finally dumped at the end of summer with all the other turkeys by Miramax before the Weinstein's took off.

I was thinking "I didn't see that many movies this year" and then I read everyone's lists. I guess I did see a few. A couple of these were actually released in '04, but it took me a while to get to them.
I liked:
Sin City
Upside of Anger
Empire Falls
Crash
Before Sunset
Garden State
Wedding Crashers (didn't love it the first time, but saw it again at the drive-in as part of a double feature & LMAO)
Eternal Sunshine...
Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (that's right)
That movie I rented with Joan Allen & Sam Elliot (help me out here, Diss, I can't remember the name of it to save my life...)
Disappointments:
Skeleton Key
The Ring 2 (that scene with the deer in the woods had me giggling. WTF?)
Bewitched
Fever Pitch

Need to add Transamerica to my list of faves. Felicity Huffman--amazing. Kevin Zegers--woof (and great performance).
In my opinion, just as *important* as BB Mountain. Plus it ends with a new Dolly Parton song, what more could I ask for.

1 movie this year (Which is average for me....Movie theatre's are obsolete with the arrival of DVD's) which was "Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire".
From the previews I will wait til next summer to see another movie ("Superman"). I hope/pray it isnt over 2.5 hours in length.
