as I down several glasses of self-pity, each with a tiny shot of self-loathing mixed in, blended to perfection, icy and with a potent sting as it creeps down the throat?
There's enough to go around.
Besides, I figure I can always delete this when I come to my senses.

Why are you feeling sorry for yourself?
I'm not so much feeling sorry for myself as I am wishing I had my own apartment...or at least didn't live with roommates who are slobs and who have filthy cats who sh*t all over the goddamn house.

But I'm sorry you have to live with annoying people. :( I've lived with some people I wanted to strangle at times, too. It's a very unpleasant feeling, thinking you don't want to go home and so you just stay somewhere else as long as possible.

I mean, it's really bad...the house smells really bad...because of the cats. I don't know what the deal is....and the cats are not friendly at all. They're practically feral. I don't know why my roommates have them.

I'll join you. My lease runs out in 11 days and I have nowhere to go. I was conveniently ignoring the date but it's too close. Every positive thing I ever did will be reversed or made non-effective in just over a week. Potential homelessness makes every tiny thing in my life irrelevant, there's no point in even buying groceries if there'll be nowhere to put them. So I'll sit here and join you as I countdown. Please come live with me in my dorm. I have Lindsey...well, sort of. You know what I mean.
Sorry, I don't mean to make light of things.

You haven't found anything in six months?!?!?! That's strange. There's always roomates and sublets and stuff here, even though apts. are really expensive. I'm really suprised you haven't found anything. Why can't you renew your lease? Are they selling the house or something? I'm confused! And I haven't even had any beer...

Weren't you living at home not too long ago? Could you go back for a short time? Just til you find somewhere? Likely not the best scenario, but it would buy you some time. Would your landlord let you stay on maybe for another month?

Pity party - yippee!
Well, I woke up at 3 AM this morning to the sound of my fridge making electrocution noises and smoke coming out the back of it. Of course, I just went shopping Fri. nite, so it's full of food. Made a call to a 24-hour appliance repair place. By the time the guy showed up, fixed it, and left, it was 6:30 AM. $200 and a new compressor relay box thingie later, it's working again.
Roommates suck. I'd rather spend what I have to spend to live alone than put up with anyone's crap.

It's because I can't sharehouse and I have no income, there aren't too many one bedroom places for people with no money. The lease runs out because it's not regular housing, it's a temporary stay for people who can't live at home, which I still can't but now the lease is up. I just got a call that they'll give me another week or so but it just means I'll have nowhere to go a week later.
I'm really hungry.
Oh, lame. So you can only stay a certain amount of time.
I thought you had income.
Sorry.

Thanks. I'm sorry for you, too. I guess you really do know what it feels like. I'm trying to be all positive for my friend - cause it's an amazing job and I really AM so proud of her. But the little selfish part of me is just miserable. I moved to this city just over 3 years ago - and I truly know that the major reason I love it so much is because she's been such a great friend and we have such great times. We just clicked. And she is the glue that holds many of us all together - the reason we all know each other and get together. I'm so afraid that when she goes we'll all just never hang out anymore. And I'll just stay home all the time alone and depressed. :(
I'm on my third glass of misery now. You?

Actually, I don't think you can. I've never been able to delete threads I started. I can edit and replace with "|l|l|l|l|l|" but it's not the same. Poor poor pitiful me. I start so many threads that are so personal and private to me that I realize the next morning I am ashamed of what I did. Only to find out I can only replace it with |l|l|l|l|l|. A permanent scar is left on my posting record. Right there for anyone to see. It's like a pregnancy. Nobody can see what naughty thing you have done, but that belly will be protruding for some time. Eventually it goes away and you think "Hooray! No more belly protrusion! Nobody will have any more evidence of my shameful night of debauchery!" But then you look down and there's that slimy, dented thing staring back at you. "Oh lordy," you mutter. Looks like the evidence will be around for a while more. Time to whip out the old checkbook and buy a dumpster. Why do these things always happen to me?Oh well. I'll wear it like an albatross. It's okay if it's a Fleetwood Mac reference.

I wish I could offer more than just "good thoughts," but unfortunately that's the best I can do from the other side of a computer screen. But the good thoughts are sincere.
{{{hugs}}}
Don't forget health :o
that's my catch 22, I guess.:( I've got epilepsy, doing alright now compared to 2 years ago when I was a total wreck (long story, bad meds mostly), because I know how to avoid stress and keep a decent rhythm (sleep, eating etc) most of the time.
I want to do a course so I'll have some diploma's to improve chances for another job. I'm a temp at my current job and it doesn't look like they'll offer me a contract even though they want to keep me for as long as it's possible. I want to work less hours because now, often I just don't have enough energy to do things for myself after work, but that's not possible at this job either.
Signed the forms for the course this weekend. I'm just scared if I'll be able to do it. My concentration often sucks after busy days, and I mean really sucks. It's part of the epilepsy or the meds. But if I don't try this, I'll feel stuck here.
Well anyway, wish me luck.
Eh, give me that wodka. I hate talking about the epi.

I don't think I can say anything that will help, but I have had bad times, and I know it is possible for thib s to really trun around unexpectedly.
Here is a poem, that inspires me when I feel lost.
Wild Geese
by Mary Oliver
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting —
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

That's true, but I have lived with a couple of cats who did this. Well, actually they were pee-ers, and they were very selective, like only peeing on the clothes you had just thrown to the floor, or your bed. All 3 of these cats belonged to different roomates of mine, and they were a little neglected, with busy owners, and dirty litter boxes: they were unhappy little acting-out kitties.
One of the owners put her cat on Prozac if you can believe that! She was a pysycho snagglepuss named jezebel - the cat I mean.

Well, our financial situation has deteriorated even more.... I found out today that our joint checking account has been frozen (long story, having to do with a stop payment a client of my husband's put on a check he deposited to his business account, which ended up severely overdrawing him). I was paid today, which was direct deposited, and I can't get to the money. It will probably take a couple days to straighten out, but a good chunk of my paycheck will be gone, because they won't unfreeze the accounts until all accounts are brought back up to $0. So, they will take part of my check to bring the business account to $0.
I have a total of $6.00 in my own personal accounts. Oh, joy.

Well, I am wallowing in self pity today. I made a 874.00 mistake and me and the husband having quite a row about it. I am usually dead on when it comes to bills and money but we are two people that are combining finances and not combining checking accounts and for the most part it's been working out well but today the bottom fell out. He is up tight about money and I am more laid back but today I am in tears and he won’t even talk to me. :distress:
Sounds familiar! My husband and I have fought endlessly about money (or lack thereof) the last several months. Only I'm the uptight one, and he's the laid back one. We got into a huge fight over it last night.
They say that money is the #1 thing couples fight about, and I certainly believe it! Try to cheer up! You're not alone! :xoxo:'
EDIT: Just noticed you're in Dallas... we just moved here in March!

MONEY! It's the root of all evil. I am so tired of fighting about it. I don't even want to go home. I hate confrontation and he is dead on about it. This is why we wanted to maintain separate finances but it's not working. I just want to through my hands up and surrender. I know I am being a total wuss. I made a mistake. I will cover it. I will be eating roman noodles for a couple of weeks but this won't be last fight about money. That I am sure of. I keep reciting a line in Elizabethtown ~ IF IT WASN'T THIS IT'D BE SOMETHING ELSE. And it's helping.
By the way ~ What part of Dallas are you living? I am in Fort Worth.

I tend to hate confrontation too. What I end up doing is holding it in and holding it in, until it explodes and I end up stepping over the line and saying something I shouldn't. But I get so frustrated. I hold my tongue for fear of "offending", then when I explode, I say something that "offends", and I'm "not being supportive".
We were doing a combination of separate and combined finances. We have what we call the "house account" checking account, where household bills are paid from. Then we would pay our own stuff out of our own accounts. But when my husband lost his job, everything started going into and out of the "house account". I have virtually no money of my own anymore.

We're in Plano. We moved here from Chicago back in March. My husband had been down here on a contract job that had lasted over a year, so I got a work transfer. His contract was supposed to last at least 8 more months, with possible full-time employment, but it didn't happen. He's trying to make a go of a catering business now, but it isn't bringing much money into the house. So, he's getting ready to work another contract job.... in Chicago! That (along with all the financial problems) is what made me join the "pity party"!
Wow. Lesson in humility. I've been cured of my money "problems" selfpity now that I've heard what health insurance costs you guys. I must remember that the next time I'm feeling sorry for myself because I'll have to pay an extra 80 euros a month next year for various things. :o
Yeah yeah it's getting less here but it's still very luxurious compared to the American situation. I'm over it.

Same here, my problems suddenly seem small. I have a prescription that costs $25 to fill instead of the usual $10 but suddenly that seems much more minor. I'm fortunate to have the insurance!

the rising price of health insurance will give you a dose of reality very quickly...
Thankfully Deb has full coverage through her employer (At last count her medical costs covered by insurance is roughly around $600,000), Because our life savings we had stored away went "bye-bye" overnite when Deb first got sick because non-medical bills needed to be payed and having a 2 income family go to a one income family (At that time) was not a favorable thing.
Cant imagine what would have happened had she not have health insurance, She recently said she figured she would have died without her coverage.

That would be considered outrageous if it happened here. No.. That is outrageous!

Me too ~ I AM THE WORST. But last night we were able to talk about the issues at hand and were able to work them out.

I really feel for you guys, with all you've been through. You're much stronger than I.
I can relate to the money problems, since we've gone from 2 to 1 income, and have been that way on and off for the past 3 years. We've drained our savings as well, and I've had to dip heavily into our 401(k).
But we have, thankfully, had our health. That definitely puts things in perspective. I don't know if I could emotionally survive health problems on top of the financial ones.
