They were just hammering to If Anyone Falls. :) But my point is, can any of you east coasties please tell me what time(s) Stevie performs? I'd like to do yoga, but, you know, then I need the T.V. :wavey: hurry!

The show here started at 7am and I would say Stevie came on around 8:45ish... but then she was on again with the animals and then she was the last one to perform around 9:50ish....... these are approximate though!!

i thought landslide was really good. had me bawling.

stand back was good too. got very annoyed they didnt show her twirls lol

she looked great. nice make up, hair and she WORE her platforms!!! woo hoo!

I know, I was dancing in my living room to Stand Back and I am yelling at the
TV saying "Show the twirls!, Show the twirls"! In one shot you could see Waddy and Stevie doing her twirls, but it was towards the end of the solo. It does seem that directors who really don't know about the "Stand Back Twirls" focus on the guitar player during the solo because normally, that is what you would do.

peeerrrrrfect. Thank you so much, that gives me plenty of yoga time. :p Wow, 8:45, in theory I would've had to watch the Today show for an hour and forty five minutes to see Stevie! I never turn on the TV in the morning, and I sure see why - it's worse than I thought!
anyway, thank you very much, 'preciate it. :)

I tried to play it back and I get NO SIGNAL. I hope it taped or I will be upset.

That stinks. But don't worry too much. IT will be around for trade soon. I think Brian J said he is going to record it and edit out all the commercials. So that will be good.

Standback rocked!!!!! Love the new moves with her platforms. It was great!

Was that little doggie that Stevie was holding so cute? I just love that Stevie loves dogs. She was just too cute kissing him on his nose. It was adorable.

The station I'm watching now started it at seven, ended it at nine, is annoying me with Philbin until ten, and then the third hour of Today is on at ten. Who the hell knows.

Like I said, I never watch Today, I'm a Diane Sawyer kind of guy.

I get Today from 7am - 9am, then regis, then I think it's Ellen or Tony Danza. :distress: So I definitely won't get to see any of the last hour's stuff, I'm sure the tivo stopped at 9am.

Katie really was hammering the nail but she messed up and had to do it over. Then it took her forever to hammer it in. They were doing a race Katie's team against Matt's team. Matt's team won. It was dumb.

My Dad called me this morning just after 8 am saying that I should tune into the local NBC affiliate to watch Stevie. I said "Dad, I already know, I am taping it."
He laughed and said "oh, yeah, I should have known you would know already"
I think it was sweet of him to call me to let me know just in case I fell off the planet or something and didn't know about it.

I'm starting to worry about Brookse Shields. MAybe Tom Cruise is right because she looked insane on the Today Show. It was a cross between crying and the biggest smile you've ever seen. It was totally strange. I'm starting to think maybe anti-depressants aren't the best thing for her?

So, you think she was just genuinely crying because the music moved her? Maybe. It just looked a tad odd to me. Just that one shot during Dreams with the huge smile and tears down her face. I love Brooke either way though. I think she's great, no matter what Tom says.

Stevie did look so adorable holding that dog. She looked like she was going to adopt it right on the spot and take it home with her. (knowing Stevie, I am sure it was a thought that crossed her mind). Bless her heart. I myself have two dogs and I am not sure how I would handle being separated from my dogs during a national disaster.

I think it is great that Stevie talked about Walter Reed and that she is really
a patient's advocate and brings up the topic when ever she can.

isnt the Today show two hours in length? i have set to tape this morning, but i mistakenly also taped yesterday...that hammering in the background is the most annoying thing ive heard in a while...other than katie's voice.

i also taped oprah yesterday and found it interesting that brooke was saying anti-depres usage individual choice to the many choices out there...it was as if cruise told her to shut-up with the public comments...

did anyone see wynonna judd on the show? ive noticed lately when guests reappear on the oprah show she makes comments such as "last time i saw you what i was really thinking was this..."...she did it with wynonna yesterday, and she did it earlier in the week with someone else. this makes me wonder if she says what she really feels or is she so fake she smiles while patting someone on the back but really thinking they are a loser. yesterday she told wynonna that when she last saw her she thought "there is no way in hell this girl is going to make it through this struggle"...yes wynonna said "last time i saw you you really uplifted me and the last thing you told me when holding my shoulders was how i was going to make it and be ok." at the end of show oprah said she was going to get there, or doing great some bs like that, and yet it was obv she was rerally thinking what she had before "you are not doing well...not going to make it." i dont know, it bothered me for some reason.

On my station (in Detroit), they played all 3 hours of the show, and Stand Back was right after Landslide. Then she played Dreams, which they only showed a clip of...but they showed the whole Dreams performance (already taped) at the end of the show.

Okay... I just walked back home... a long-ass walk since it's such a gorgeous day. Anyway, my ass is too tired to type, so I'll let Brian fill you in on the details... But I'll just give you a few observations...

-Stevie did a complete run-through of the set around 6:20 with no make-up on , hair in a ponytail and wearing a tight little brown pant suit with a fur trimmed quilted overcoat . I'll post some pictures later. Her make-up person works miracles!

-Sharon sang "Landslide" solo with the band during the local newsbreak segment at 8:25 and got a warm reception afterwards.

-"Dreams" pretty much came on the heels of "Stand Back," although I think it was recorded and broadcast an hour later.

-Brian did not record any of this!!!!

It was great to Stevie and the gang after my 2+ months without a Nicks fix! Sounding good, looking good (well... except during the soundcheck :p )... I just sense in my bones that there is more to come from her. It seems miraculous that she can snap her fingers and everybody from her Two Voices/Gold Dust Tour band could just appear together like that. Could another Vegas run be in the offing????

Awwww! I loved it! I just watched my tape of the show - and then came and read the minute by minute coverage here. (Being locked out of my job right now has some advantages!) I thought Stevie looked great - sounded great - and said some really nice things in all the interviews. I mean, how frickin sweet did she look holding that dog? :o I was sure she was going to say, "I'm adopting this one!" And I loved what she said about the patients in Walter Reed - "no matter what you think about this war, don't forget them." Very good point. Glad Katie pointed out there are women in the hospitals, too.

The songs sounded perfect - Dreams at the end was definitely the version she sang during the commercial replayed. But that's okay. At least we got to see it. It's so funny that they plugged TISL before her appearence, and she sang Landslide from 1973, Stand Back from 1983, and Dreams, from 1975. But, every single person there practically was singing along... One can understand why she sings those classics over and over and over again...

I'm pretty sure I saw Brian (was that him in the orange shirt??) - but then again, I thought I saw Paula, too - but it would appear from her post here this morning she wasn't there! Oops. Is the girl from the front row a Ledgie? She looked very familiar, too. As did the woman with the baby. I'm jealous of you all!!!!!!!!!!!!

I set my DVR to record all three hours in high quality, so I am enlisting my Husband's help in editing out commercials, etc.. so I can put on DVD.

I am wondering if Stevie will visit Walter Reed again today or tomorrow since she is on the East Coast and all. Just a quick airplane ride or limo ride into DC.
I think it was cute that she talked about programming the IPODS and that she bought them with her own money and Jessie helped put her music on there that she likes and Stevie put her music on it. Stevie brought up the fact that it would be nice if IPOD(Apple) could donate some IPODS, but if they don't that is okay. Sounds like she is willing to keep buying them to send to the soldiers?
Has anyone in the DC area been to Walter Reed? I live in the Northern VA area and looked it up online. It is kind of hard to get to. Take the metro, then transfer twice using metro busses to finally get to the compound. Driving in would be a nightmare. Parking is very limited.

I just sense in my bones that there is more to come from her. It seems miraculous that she can snap her fingers and everybody from her Two Voices/Gold Dust Tour band could just appear together like that. Could another Vegas run be in the offing????

I too am really amazed that Stevie could get everyone together again on such a short notice. She looked happy singing again. Music does heal the soul and I wonder if it is helping her deal with her Dad's passing. Plus I am sure that being out there helping with the charity, etc... it keeps her busy and productive/creative.

I read her mind for about 30 seconds this morning, here's the transcript:

"The Today show went off without a hitch. Fabulous. Matt's very handsome...I was so gruff with him back in 2001, oh well, he's married, but not for long I hear. Back to Waldorf, take off the TV make-up, rest a bit, fabulous lunch, then off to Tiffany's to get that little watch I've had my eye on for the last YEAR...why not? I've had a hard summer...I'll use my summer tour money and won't dip into my Mac money , it's only $250K and I deserve it after this summer. Brooke invitied me to see her in Chicago tonight, but I had to turn her down even though she's so sweet, I just hate musicals, but I told her I plans. She looked so sad...I told her about klonopin and we talked about her recent problems, I could tell her some stuff about Tom Cruise, but that's for the book. Who do I know in NY? Who do I know in NY...I need dinner plans, with someone fabulous, AND NOT WITH SHARON or LORI or WADDY...I always end up paying with them. I want to go out with someone who'll pay for ME, at somewhere fabulous, why not? I did well this morning, oh, but so terriby early though, how does Katy Couric do it? even with her salary, still, I look better than her still and we're both tiny girls...I love this city, little shopping, fabulous things, food...going to see if I can stay through tomorrow, spa tomorrow, little shopping, fabulous..."

It reminded me a bunch of the old SNL Stand Back, except with a mostly different band. If she had one of the Stand Back shawls, it would have been perfect. :P

I think she was on fire, esp. with the vocals. She really went for the notes in STAND BACK, it almost sounded like the tune of the album version. I esp. liked when she went "well you could be standing in A LIIINNEE!" also some great dancing, loved the boots..

Every one can sleep well - my VCR recorded. Now here's the kicker guys - my fuc*ing local station played commercials through all of Dreams!! I only saw the last few notes. Of all the nerve!! I'll have to watch the msn thing but how could they do that? This is Los Angeles man! We have a lot of Stevie fans out there that wanted to see it.

Boy can that woman talk! I know she can be very reserved and sometimes she's more of the artsy fartsy type but once you get her started watch out! She sure was passionate about Walter Reed. You go girl!

She looked gorgeous. Lots of make-up. She didn't look any heavier that she did this summer. I don't think she sounded spectacular. Good, but not great. They really screwed up by filming Waddy during the Stand Back twirls. The camera man obviously was not a fan.

So cute how she was dancing in place before SB started! I've been watching too many Stevie videos - I noticed this a couple years ago after going to a bunch of SYW shows I started to dance like her and I'm doing it again when I go out. That little hip side to side thing. Did it this weekend.

Stevie sounded fantastic live. Watching it back on tv does not do it justice. She sounded vocally impeccable and Katie even commented on it. She just went for everything and seemed so happy and into her performance. Landslide reduced me to tears....thinking about her Dad and the Hurricane and all that....alot of people were crying, including Brooke and Katie. Her voice was so strong and she went for alot of the notes. Hearing Sharon sing Landslide was so cool. She did a little soundcheck right before Stevie went on live, during the commercial break and she looked soo nervous. I mean seriously nervous . When the audience clapped for her, she looked so sweet and humble. I enjoyed hearing her sing it.

This was hands down one of my favorite Stevie moments ever!

She looked gorgeous and sounded wonderful (same old songs notwithstanding). Plus the boots!

More importantly though, patient advocate and pet advocate!! I thought the whole thing showed a side of her that the general public doesn't normally see: the charitable and generous soul.

I also love, love, love Stevie's awkward conversational skills, i.e., the hurricane "thing"! :D

Holding the dog was icing on the cake...although I'm a big cat lover and noticed they had to remind her to add cats when she said come on down and get a dog.

What a beautiful, classy, and graceful woman. She never fails to take my breath away.

Maybe this has already been talked about, but was the tall guy with long hair in the audience doing that rocker dude thing with his hand someone from the Ledge? I remember the guy with the cap, so I guess I saw Brian. What about the pretty girl they showed every two seconds?

I like when she was describing the age of the parents of the soldiers in Walter Reed, "They are in their 40's, 50's, 45," I wish I had the exact quote but it sounded silly. Usually you would say 40's and 50's. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I laughed when she said something to the effect of "Their parents have lives, they can't be there all the time."

I do...she took about 10 times as long to say "The soldiers' parents can't stay with them all the time because they have to attend to their own lives". Instead she said something like "You know, and their parents can't stay there because they're like 40, or 50, or 45 and they have you know, their own world, so they can't stay with them all the time".

It's a very unique, awkward, slightly ditzy, yet authentic and charming way of speaking.

Maybe this was already discussed--such a long thread--but I also laughed when they showed Stevie's "latest" solo album. 4 1/2 years later.

It hasn't been discussed, and yes i also chuckled a bit when TISL was promoted...

On the "hurricane thing," the first time I watched it, I actually said "thing" outloud with her. I just knew that would be the next word out of her mouth.

Gotta love her!

What about the pretty girl they showed every two seconds?

My roommate was watching with me last night and after the 2nd or 3rd time they showed her asked "Do you have the same dopey, starstruck look on your face every time you go to a show?"

Iy looks to me like Brooke Shields was dancing to SB and then when the camera came on, she stopped and was embarrassed. I think that was sweat, not tears. She was well aware that the camera was on her during Landslide as well.
I think you're right but I also thought they were tears from laughter and hoped she and her friends weren't making little private jokes about Stevie. But my gut is telling me it was just a good hard laugh from all the work they were doing down there and just a joyful moment where you laugh until you cry.

So... I saw the MSNBC.com video of her performances but I was working and don't have a VCR so I missed everything else. Was she interviewed? Did she build any houses? What else happened?

Did she build any houses?

No, but "Sara" did...and called her when she was done.

After Landslide and Stand Back, she talked about her experience going to Walter Reed and said people should go visit the soldiers and bring them some cookies. She said she bought ipods for them when she went that had her music plus some stuff her niece added.

Then later in the show she held a dog while the Today Show folks talked with an animal shelter person about the need to adopt displaced animals. Waddy stood next to her and Al Roker forgot his name. They asked Stevie to chime in and she said "if you have a little room in your house, come and get a dog". Then she added "and a cat".

Well, she was prompted by one of the Today Show gang. They had just said that people weren't getting cats, just dogs, and then Stevie said "come get a dog" so they said something to her and Stevie added "and a cat".
