Ho. Lee. Sheet! What a lineup! The duet possibilities are endless! Stevie and Rod Stewart doing "Stand Back?" Stevie and Bette doing "Wind Beneath My Wings?" Stevie and Earth, Wind & Fire doing "Shining Star?"

Wow. I hope this is on TV!!'

Edit: Loggins and Messina???? Whenever I Call You Friend? Could she? Would she? Willie Nelson is currently putting together a concert here for Sept. 21st, and is trying to get the Neville Bros. for that also.

Boston's Progressive Talk keeps on playing Fortunate Son. Who would have thought this country would repeat a senseless war like Vietnam and this song would again become current. :distress:

Those two would sound great together. Also, isn't Stevie friends with Bette? If I saw them both on the same stage I'd be trippin'!

Stevie never ceases to impress me. I'm happy she's doing this, and proud of the fact that she's returning to the stage to help raise money for the Hurricane relief efforts.

Yes, I realize that it's been a month since Mr. Nicks passed away, and most people have to return to work within days of losing a parent. But Stevie has the luxury to not perform for a while and to take her time grieving, so she could have easily written a check and just stayed home.

I'm sure she's going to do something everyone and their grandmother has heard. It's not like it's a Stevie audience and she can get away with anything. I really think she will play something signature Stevie that most people are familiar with.

The most appropriate song for this occasion would be HAEWAFY.

Bella Donna and Street Angel would be cool...but will never happen...so would Illume

Each artist will probably only get one song. Maybe two in the case of someone like Bette Midler.

I'd honestly be happy with anything Stevie chooses to sing -- I just think it's incredible that she'll be there.
Would be nice to see her do "Has Anyone Ever Written" though. I think it would be the most meaningful song for the occasion.

Jazz at Lincoln Center Stages Hurricane Benefit Concert

NEW YORK, New York, September 7, 2005 (ENS) - Live From Lincoln Center, the Emmy-Award winning PBS series, is presenting a special nationwide broadcast of jazz September 17 as a benefit for hurricane relief.

The Higher Ground Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert, live from Lincoln Center's Rose Theater, will feature Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Cyrus Chestnut, Peter Cincotti, Bill Cosby, Elvis Costello, Robert De Niro, Paquito D'Rivera, Jon Hendricks, Diana Krall, Abbey Lincoln, Bette Midler, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Roberts, Paul Simon, Meryl Streep, James Taylor, McCoy Tyner, Cassandra Wilson, Buckwheat Zydeco, and many others.

Although "HAEWAFY" with an orchestra behind her would be perfect for the occassion ("....and the rain came down, there WAS pain, there WAS doubt..."), she will probably sign "Landslide".

Hawkeye

despite it being done a bunch I think HAEWAFY would be so appropriate for this also despite the one rain reference. If not for me then do it for the the world. The song would be perfect, but I would like if she just left out the danmed men in her life part and the priests of legandary poets part.

Willie Nelson is currently putting together a concert here for Sept. 21st, and is trying to get the Neville Bros. for that also.

on the 9th, at the Zoo Amphitheatre emceed by some dude named Billy Bob Thorton, whose band is on the bill (Interesting that the Legends of Hip-Hop are scheduled to play the Zoo that evening, Maybe the schedule has been changed.)

Wont make that one at the Zoo since we're planning to see the 2nd annual Cross Canadian Ragweed family jam on the 23rd at the Zoo (Gotta love a concert facility at the OKC Zoo), featuring Cross Canadian Ragweed, Dierks Bentley, Gary Allan and others to be announced.

Hopefully this benefit in NYC with Stevie will be televised...

Now would be the perfect time for Bette to sing "You'll Never Know" from her Rosemary Clooney album.

You'll never know just how much I miss you
You'll never know just how much I care
And if I tried, I still couldn't hide my love for you
You oughtta know, for haven't I told you so
A million or more times

You went away and my heart went with you
I speak your name in my every prayer
If there is some other way to prove that I love you
I swear I don't know how
And you'll never know if you don't know now

Oh, it's truly one of her best. Her renditions of it on her last tour took on a whole new dimension with what's going on in the world and her references to it. I think she's got so many touching, beautiful songs under her belt to pick from that it'll be hard to guess what she'll end up doing in the end. There are literally hundreds of hotels within a 15 block radius of MSG. I would do a travelocity search and see what comes up. The only thing is all of the hotels in the Times Sq. area are usually very very crowded as is Times Sq. So, I tend to want to avoid that. But, to each their own and if you get a great deal in one of those, take it as you are not going to be in the room that much.

That's what I was thinking, b/c it's a benefit - Like how primo seats for Stevie's Arizona Heart Benefit are very expensive.
P.S. I love Simon and Garf.

$3,000?? Lets hope they have cheap seats, too.

I wish Stevie had participated in the ReAct concert. The list of performers for that benefit is phenomenal as well.

The Garden's cure for Big Easy's blues

Elton John, Bette Midler, Jimmy Buffett and Rod Stewart will share the stage Sept. 20 with New Orleans-based legends Fats Domino, Allen Toussaint and the Neville Brothers for "The Big Apple to the Big Easy," Madison Square Garden's benefit concert to raise money for victims of Hurricane Katrina and the rebuilding of New Orleans.

Domino, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer best known for "Blueberry Hill" and "Ain't That a Shame," was rescued from his New Orleans home and taken to the Superdome and then to Baton Rouge, La., like thousands of other evacuees last week. He slept on the floor of LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell's apartment for two days before securing transportation to a more permanent home, The Advocate of Baton Rouge reported.

Toussaint left his New Orleans home to seek shelter in a nearby hotel, only to be rescued from there and taken to the Superdome, before receiving transportation to New York.

The concert will also include performances by Lenny Kravitz; Stevie Nicks; John Fogerty; Earth, Wind and Fire; Loggins and Messina; and New Orleans' Buckwheat Zydeco, the original Meters, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and the Rebirth Brass Band.

Tickets for the benefit - which the Garden will underwrite, as well as donate an additional $1 million to the Bush Clinton Katrina Fund, Habitat for Humanity and the MusiCares Hurricane Relief Fund - will go on sale Tuesday through Ticketmaster. Ticket prices haven't been determined.

It's not going to be televised; it's just a benefit show. PBS is airing a jazz-themed benefit on the 17th, though, with Bette Midler, Elvis Costello, and Paul Simon (amongst others).

I think it is going to be televised. They wouldn't been showing the commercial every 5 minutes on MTV if it wasn't going to be. Also every other benefit thats been done to support the cause so far has been televised. Stop being such a party pooper.

I'm so excited for this concert. It's amazing for me that I can go because being that it's on a Tuesday night and I go to school, I normally wouldn't have been able to go. However, luck and fate would have it that my acting for the camera class is going to NYC on the 18th until the 21st to volunteer at a film festival and we have our evenings free to do whatever we please!!!! :] :woohoo: :] That means I can go, as long as the cheapest ticket is reasonable. I'm a theatre major...I don't have much money...hopefully I can afford it
Oh, and by the way to those of you who may remember me...I was at the Pittsburgh STevie/Don show this summer: hope all is going well with everyone. :wavey:  Things are soooo crazy for me now...hopefully I can find the time to post a little more often than I have recently....

bye all,

~Tara

I hope they will make a last minute change to televise or air the event on the radio,if that happens I will be a happy camper. They are not going to make alot of money, without TV and radio exposure. No money on ticket sales and $1000
plate dinners now.

They'll make plenty of money, it isn't like tickets are going to be $70. Madison Square Garden has already made the venue available for free and are adding $1 million to the pot.

Did they getr it for free - I thought they might, but never read a conformation of that. Also, the talent is supposed to be free as well, but I but they get the hotel rooms paid for, but the hotels may give them the rooms for free as well.
