Christian broadcaster says 'cheaper than starting a war'http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/cwm/cwm/erm.gif

CNN) -- Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson has called for the United States to assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, calling him "a terrific danger" bent on exporting Communism and Islamic extremism across the Americas.

"If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it," Robertson told viewers on his "The 700 Club" show Monday. "It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war."

Robertson, a contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 1988, called Chavez "a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us badly."

"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said. "We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."

This is shocking, even though I know he's a loon, still. I'm surprised anything shocks me anymore.

Bush's approval rating is down to 36%, this is lower than Nixon's rating was at the height of Watergate (39%). Going down?

It occured to me a few years ago, that Robertson had gone beyond extreme conservatism into complete insanity. This man is no longer interested in teaching the Word of God, or helping people strengthen their faith (if that ever really was his "mission" in the first place)... he has his own political agenda and personal vendettas, and he has become completely and utterly corrupt.

I think people should flood every TV station that airs the 700 Club with letters of disgust that a REVEREND would call for the assassination of someone, and demand that his little political forum be taken off the air.

"Thou Shall Not Kill" indeed.

I'm still awaiting Falwell's expiration. That wet fart of a human turd should suffer as much as the people he's made a career out of persecuting. He came close to biting it this past year, but he f*cked us all over again and hung in there. ****, even Tammy Faye will crack a smile the day he kicks the bucket.

In addition to urging the assassination of a foreign leader, Robertson has blamed gays for divorce, abortion, and September 11, said that a gay-oriented event would bring about "terrorist bombs ... earthquakes, tornadoes, and possibly a meteor."

Yes, what a great example for Christians.

Fred Phelps and his group of wackos are blaming the Iraq war on gays... they're actually protesting at the funerals of soldiers who have died in the war. What kind of twisted logic is that?!

Veterans Protest Military Funeral Protestors

POSTED: 5:51 pm CDT August 8, 2005
UPDATED: 8:56 am CDT August 9, 2005

CHICAGO -- Some local military veterans took a stand on Monday against the tactics of an out-of-town group that travels the country picketing military funerals.

The members of Westboro Baptist Church demonstrated at the funeral of 22-year-old Spc. Adam Harding last week in Portage, Ind. The group claims God is killing American soldiers because of America's tolerance of homosexuality.

"Not only am I happy about it, the Bible says you are supposed to wash your feet in the blood of the wicked," said Jonathan Phelps, a spokesman for the group.

Veterans in Chicago said a military funeral is no place to deliver that message, NBC5's Phil Rogers reported.

"This, I believe, is as low as one can go," said Alderman Brian Balcer, who is also a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Balcer, as well as others, denounced the Westboro Baptist Church, which they said had made fraudulent use of the Bill of Rights by crashing the funerals of dead soldiers in the name of free speech.

"Make sure that our families -- our American families -- have the rights to honor their loved ones," said Jim Frazier, who lost his son in Afghanistan.

The group in question is based in Topeka, Kan., and they showed up with approximately 10 people at Harding's funeral. The group continually taunted police and prosecutors, who were watching from the sidelines. There were no arrests.

Phelps said he wasn't interfering in the families' grieving process.

"I'm here on a public sidewalk," he said.

The Pentagon has warned military officials across the country to temper their responses, cautioning them that the demonstrators want to be arrested so they can sue to fund future activities.

The message from the group of military veterans was free speech was one thing, but human decency is a different matter altogether.

"The least that people can do is to respect that final moment that family has to say goodbye," said Kirk Morrison, who lost his son in Iraq.

The very idea that Phelps and his cronies (mostly made up of his own brainwashed and indentured children & grandchildren) picket FUNERALS is something that has always sickened me.

Being the person I am, I've always tried to find at least some understanding of where the "other side" is coming from, or a respect for the fact that they're standing up for their principles... but what Phelps does is absolutely immoral. And now this. :distress:
I cannot believe more people aren't up in arms about his actions. But maybe now that he's gone past picketing the funerals of homosexuals to picketing the funerals of our soldiers, it will finally open more eyes.

Robertson, Falwell and Phelps are impotent old men who've lost all touch with society, and are desperately grasping at the last vestiges of their past relevance by saying and doing whatever it takes to get themselves even a fleeting taste of that attention they so crave.
And all in the name of God.

As I've often said, if there is indeed a Heaven, then some people are in for an extremely rude awakening.

What that rat bastard did to them was downright evil. Jim was no prince, but the way that Falwell went after him in that one particular press conference by calling him a fag that came on to him was shocking, even by Falwell's standards. I try not to wish ill will on anyone, but when it comes to that piece of ****, I can't help it. I hope he suffers immense pain before finally treating us to his final exit.

As for Tammy, I'm always pulling for her. Love love love that woman to death; she's an angel.

in a nutshell, this was the saga related in "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" whereby two other South American Leaders (deemed dangerous to US economic interests) were removed. Apparently now we are impervious to public opinion such that eejits like Roberts can publicly state such heavy handed tactics????? What's The World Coming To indeed......
