There is no work to be done with me dear!

I think I have pretty much made myself clear! When I'm lusting after Ken here...I'm obviously NOT 100% straight!!!!

I have news for you (maybe) if you lust after the delicious Ken at all, you are not 100% straight here or anywhere anymore

Ahhhh - you have come so far from hating gays to being part of the gang. Maybe Ken should give you a lollipop :wavey:

But a right-wing nut I still am!

Well. I had already brought all this stuff to light some time ago when Miss Queen Brandon decided to start posting again after his initial splash at the beginning of this year. When I brought it up, most people did the dead-horse-forgive-forget-he's-changed routine- so, I essentially dropped it. However, there were several people around here who seemed to be affected by the sly anti-gay comments that were posted (I reposted the inferred anti-gay stuff).

However, since all of this other stuff has been brought to the surface (even though anyone with an IQ of 70 or better knew that Brandon was a big old queen from the get go), it's best to let Brandon gently flower from the clueless 20 year old into the out and proud 23 year old twirling the baton at the head of the Raleigh-Durham Gay Pride Parade.

Is that apricot the color or the fruit. I personally do not like either, though it makes a nice accent when used in a pillow or stripe.

I'm just getting caught up on this thread, but I wanted to say that, while Brandon seems to have a pretty good sense of humour about himself, I think everyone should ease up on taking potshots about his sexual orientation.

Yes, he's certainly said some things in the past that have rubbed us all the wrong way, but he is a human being and deserves to be allowed to come to his own conclusions in his own time.

I double-took it, too, but then I realized: "what else could that possibly mean besides having your legs so far over your head that they are at your head?"
Which is also actually a Yoga thing I do to stretch the muscles by my spine real well....:p

I never said it wasn't. Just that you would have scored higher if you had used "abutment" somehow, silly.
Again, isn't that some sort of structural term? Let's ask my old friend "dictionary.com"

Abutment:
1. The part of a structure that bears the weight or pressure of an arch.
2. A structure that supports the end of a bridge.
3. A structure that anchors the cables of a suspension bridge.

Whereas, "abut" means: To touch or end at one end or side; lie adjacent.

1. To border upon or end at; be next to.

So, in fact, as I suspected, Strand did use the term "abut" appropriately, but the term "abutment" would not be appropriate in this case.

So, to sum up: Strand is right, Diss is wrong, and Amber gets points for her super vocabularic knowledge. As you were.

What part of the word "somehow" do you not comprehend, darling?
Oh, good try, but you never implied or stated that you acknowledged that "abutment" means something different than "abut".
In fact, you structured your sentences in such a way as to imply that "abut" and "abutment" are somewhat interchangeable.
You never defined "abutment" as you would have liked to see it used.
Had you done so, your argument would have merit. As it stands, and as you have stated, we are forced to conclude that you somehow think "abut" is at least somewhat synonymous with "abutment". You can't introduce a new term without defining it.
:)

amber
10-28-2005, 02:27 AM
Was there ever any doubt :wavey:
Not by me, because, if you'll notice, it's what I have been saying since the beginning.
ie, I said "doesn't abutment refer to some kind of structure?" and I also said
"I'm so glad, or whatever, that Strand used the term "abut" correctly, because I've never seen that written" (paraphrase). So, basically, my awesome vocabularic knowledge didn't leave any doubt, in this case. :woohoo:
Loves! :woohoo: :xoxo:
