To make a long story short, there was an abandoned dog at a truckstop about 2 hours away from my parent's house. The workers there had shot the companion dog (there were 2 at first) and were trying to feed the second one antifreeze to kill it. Anyway, someone put an ad in there paper that the dog was in danger, and my parents adopted it sight unseen. Now it is a great dog, but has heart worm. So they have been getting her up to weight the past few weeks, and tomorrow the treatment starts. THere is a chance, but hopefully small, that she could die.

So please pray for Gypsy and her treatment tomorrow!

Oh, and I forgot to say, bless your folks for taking her in and trying their best to save her! "There are 's here on Earth."

Utterly rephrehensible. I can't comprehend the level of cruelty that so many people seem to possess. :distress:
Thankfully there are good people out there though, like your parents.

Count me among those rooting and praying for Gypsy... whose namesake song I heard over the PA system when we went for ice cream tonight -- so I'm hoping that's a good sign that she'll make a full recovery.

Wishing good on Gypsy.
What kind of dog is she, BTW?

Oh my gosh, that is so sad, I'm really sorry to hear that. :distress: Did your dog run away, or did some people break into your yard or something?

Aw, that is sad. I will never understand some people. I hope Gypsy makes it too. Were you able to catch or confront the people who did it at all?

She is a yellow lab. I will post pics as soon as i figure out how. She is very sweet and getting cuter by the day as she heals. First round of treatment today and she may be able to be released from the vet hospital Wed. Thanks everyone for your positive thoughts!

BASTARDS! would you mind telling me what city/town you are from?

praise to the person for running the ad

I live in Birmingham, AL
My parents live in Tuscaloosa (home of University of AL)
The dog was in a place called York, AL (home of probably nothing)

They say a traveler was passing through town and saw the dog, and called a rescue service and donated like $200 to get the dog picked up. This rescue service, called TEARS, placed the ad. My parents are trying to find the traveler to thank her. No luck yet.

I hope that all goes well for Gypsy. I can't understand how someone could hurt a poor animal. I think anyone who could needs some serious help.

I'll be sure to keep Gypsy in my thoughts and prayers. :)

Day 2 Gypsy still at hospital but doing ok, everyone remarking about how sweet she is. She may get released tomorrow if all keeps going well. Then a 2 month exercise restriction, and retest and possibly another treatment.

But my parents say, if she can make it through this, she will live the good life!

They are empty nesters with one lab already spoiled, and gypsy is their second.
