I liked him too...I can't believe Dave Navarro is involved in this. He just lost some cool points in my book.

I don't think anyone's trying to be Michael Hutchence. It's not like the rest of the band told him to go hang himself. He left them holding the bag. They were getting ready to go out on tour again and waiting for him to come to rehearsal and he never showed up. So any of the dates that had already been booked had to be cancelled. I don't know what kind of money, if any, that cost them.
So now, they've waited a repsectable amount of time and have decided to continue under the name they're known for best-INXS. If they changed the name of the band they would have a much harder time getting booked. So this show is a good way to create some buzz about them and help them to continue to earn a living. I don't see anything wrong with that.
I saw INXS about three months before Michael killed himself. It was a great show with complete with Hutchence climbing up on the stacks like a monkey man. He gave a great performance. May he rest in peace.

They did replace him with a known Australian singer Jon Stevens. That was much more respectable. INXS could possibly be good without Michael but they wouldn't really be INXS, they'd be another band. I guess that's what they were with Jon Stevens because he didn't try to be Michael Hutchence, he already had a name here. Some say it actually worked well musically speaking but plugging that name INXS without Michael doesn't work. They should drop INXS and perform as a new band then they might gain more respect based purely on the music. So that experiment didn't work and now they've gone for a completely tacky experiment.

I agree.

Make new music, get new bands but don't try to make these classic bands come together again...what's done is done.

( The Who is the exception because at least Roger and Pete are still around and they can tour for all eternity)

I don't know, but this caused me to bring out my INXS Greatest Hits CD.

I watched it; I'm kind of hooked. Actually, I was surprised that they have so many women competing in it. :shrug: They're all pretty good, but I really think the women are better (maybe I'm biased since I am a woman). That 22 year old woman was pretty good. I can't see a young girl though in a band with those old man :lol: & they are looking old now.

With all this INXS talk I decided to put on Michael's solo album. It made me depressed. The lyrics and his voice are amazing. It's a very dark album. He is the one that had the true talent. I miss him.

I watched last night's episode tonight and now this episode is almost over. I can say, sad but true, I think I'm going to get addicted to this show like wo.

The bastardization of INXS doesn't bother as much as I thought it would. Watching this, it just seems like they're just using them as an excuse to do a rock-oriented version of American Idol. I do think if I started a drinking game of how many times they SAY "INXS" I'd be plastered in the first thirty seconds. It's starting to bug.

I looooove Heather, the one who did "Somebody To Love"- she is sexy as hell, and her voice is awesome. Hate the girl who did Cheap Trick- I think she's too precious and boring. I liked the girl who did "Take It Easy" on the first episode, but gawd, how awful to get saddled with that Eagles song tonight, next to everyone else's song. Don't like the daddy's girl, because I'm mean. Don't like Suzie- the one who messed up the lyrics last night- her voice is boring to me. Typical blues-tinged bar band voice. I reeeeally like the girl who did "Piece of My Heart" last night and "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" tonight. Jordis is awesome, too.

Like, Ty is amazing- but I don't like him. I loooooooove Brandon. HOT. His energy is great. I kinda like Naked!Guy too, despite myself. Don't like J.D. Marty is okay, but his mannerisms put me off, and his cover of "Take Me Out" did nothing but remind me of what a kickass song it is, DESPITE him singing it.

Jordis is my favorite too. JD's CA Dreamin' was not bad. I can't remember the names of any of the other guys to pick a favorite. I'm watching because I always wanted to see the American Idol contestants do more rock songs and this is an okay substitute. Maybe I'll get more into it as I get to know the contestants better.
Brooke Burke IS horribly annoying. And the crowd is a little too artificially pumped for my liking. I'll keep watching though, because it's the middle of summer and there's nothing better on!

Me too! I totally want her to win. I really like her voice and her performance. A lot of the other contestants are over the top with their performances and don't really have great voices. Jordis doesn't seem to be trying to be something she's not.

Ditto. To be honest, I was never a huge INXS fan even in their heyday.
But if some of the lesser American Idols can get contracts, I don't foresee a problem for her.

I LOVE this show. It's my new guilty addiction. I've seen every episode and if I'm not home I record it. As far as I'm concerned Jordis has it in the bag. I say she's going to win the whole thing and that was my though the first time she performed. She has it all - the look, the attitude, the stage presence, the voice, and she's a chick! And the best part about her is she pulls it all off without her tits hanging out! I also like Marty. I thought everyone they found were all quite talented in their own right and have been very impressed with everyone. I just think that not all of them are right for INXS just like the band says.

I find it interesting as it was put to me by a fellow Ledgie, that had they changed the band name immediately and continued without MH, then they were in it for the love of the music, however by holding onto the name and finding a MH replacement, then it's all about the MONEY, cashing in on those songs and MH's memory..I must admit I do agree, why have they waited so long to do this? Because these blokes are wanting the cash and thats why theyr'e in it. Having said that though, I did find it quite interesting to watch.

To me, it's not a question that Mig will win... he's got a great voice, he's by far the most likable and personable, he's their countryman, and he's the only one that has the kind of stamina INXS is looking for or going to need, from his stint singing Queen (!) songs 7 times a week for however long on the stage in London.

I really like Brandon, but I thought "If You Could Only See" fell apart. I thought it was great at the beginning, and then completely off rhythm and off pitch for the rest. I don't like any of the girls except Jordis, and sometimes Deanna. I like Marty more every week. I think if J.D.'s not off soon, though, I'm going to quit watching. That's how much he annoys me.

I just don't think JD is that good of a vocalist although he can be entertaining to watch. I still love Jordis although she wasn't on last night and I really like Suzie and Ty too. Jessica is a goner for sure.

Marty's performance last night was pure raw energy and the type of surprise moment you look for at a concert. It took a lot of guts to change plans 10 minutes before air time. Jordis is a presence but last night seemed to just stand up there with a mic and sing. She didn't seem to put any of herself into the song. Ty blew me away last night but I don't think he will win. It's almost as if his voice is too good to be a rock star.

From what I understand at one point during the voting she was in the bottom three but she didn't end up there. I thought for sure Deanna would end up in the bottom three and not Suzie. Suzie has been cool and I really like her.

I read that it's not doing well in the ratings. CBS is not showing the show on Mondays anymore, only the Tue and Wed editions. The Monday show is now shown on VH1 on Sundays because not too many people were watching.

I watched the performances online - I haven't been a big fan of Marty's, but I loved what he did w/ the Spears song...Jordis = greatness...and Mig was just amazing! Cool that he invited Jordis and Marty up w/ him last night. Jordis is a great harmonizer!

I thought JD did a great version of "Cold as Ice," and I'm not even a fan of his...I liked Deanna's original song and performance also....

I actually noticed something about Jordis, she just doesn't do well with regular "rock" songs, like Dream On, or Layla. She is much better with the oddities like People are Strange, Man Who Sold the World or Knockin' on Heavens Door. Not sure what it is but when the song requires a real "rock out" approach it's just not there. Not that that's bad, there are plenty of great artists who don't have that, but it could hurt her here.

I liked Deannas song enough to wish i had the lyrics as it kinda peaked my interest.

Suzie was good, but she's just too cutesey, I don't think she has the personality to front an all male band, very few do (Grace, Janis and Debbie Harry come to mind but none of them were "cute")

JD is too I, Me, Mine.

Ty was okay, but actually I thought the best part was the backing vocals, and it's hard to screw that song up.

Suzie gets points with me for pulling that off as well as she did- she's gotten really good. Something's changed in the last couple of weeks- before, she struck me as nothing more than a nice, above-average bar band singer. I still don't think she has a chance in the world to win this, but she's moved from being off my radar to one of my favorites.

I know everyone else loves them and thinks they can do no wrong, but I am haaating Ty and Jordis. I had to fast forward through most of Ty's performance last night, because it is one of my absolute favorite songs of all time and seeing him overarticulate his way through it was making me sick. Jordis has an awfully nice voice, but so little power or magnetism. She's bland. The only word I can come up with for both of them is cloying. The way they preen at the camera is so irritating to me. They remind me of cheesy beauty pageant contestants.

Something about Mig's performances always bug me- maybe it's the theatricality, I don't know. But I find that once it's over, I never remember how annoying I found it. I just genuinely like him as a person.

I thought Marty was fantastic. Seriously, just good. In my office, we're all rooting for Marty to lose, though, because he's from Chicago and if he wins we're going to have to go crazy promoting the contestant performance album they have coming out next month, and the eventual INXS album. That, and whoever wins is going to have no career. I'm rooting for Marty and Suzie to make it out of this thing alive.

This has been brought up before, but it bears repeating. Why no FM songs?

Out of the remaining six, here's an FM song for each of them to do. I won't get too deep into their catalog, as they make these people sing every song you'd hear at a karaoke bar.

Marty-The Chain. I think he has the right style to out the anger and emotion in this song. Think of LB on the Mirage tour. Yeah, that kind of angry.

Ty-Tusk. Just because.

Mig- Mig needs a good rockin tune. Let's give him...I'm so afraid!

JD- JD is (most likely) getting voted off tonight anyway, and since I hate him, he doesn't get to sing an FM song. So there.

I hate myself for being so hooked on this show. I think it's a very cheesy and tacky way for INXS to replace Hutchence and move forward.

But it got me to drag out the old Cd's that I haven't listened to in 10 years or so. My god, what a fantastic band they were.

And I love the weekly concerts because, unlike American Idol, I love nearly every song they sing.

I will likely not follow the band when this show is over. For a long time, I thought JD was the only one who could front the band because he could pull off singing the old stuff. But I just can't stand him. Hutchence had natural sexiness; JD is a poser.

The remaining folks are all very talented, but I can't see any of them as the lead of INXS.

I'm not a fan but JD may be the eventual winner because he does fit the mold they may be looking for. I would like to see Suzie win. She has a great voice and I think people will be less inclined to compare her to Michael Hutchence as they will if one of the guys ends up winning.

Jordis will have to do what she hasn't been able to do well to stay on the show - and that is to do a good cover of an INXS song. As much as I hate to say it - JD has what it takes to front this band. I thought he did very well on both songs tonight. I loved Trees by Marty and it could be a hit for him on his own if he doesn't make the band. Of course, they may also want the song enough to take Marty. In the end I think it will come down to Marty and JD.

It's really too bad about Jordis. She was my pick all along from the very beginning but after the last few weeks there's no way she's going to win. I really think her age and lack of experience are huge disadvantages. I hope she still gets a record deal though...she's still my favorite even if she isn't right for the lead singer of INXS.

Susie has a great voice no doubt but she is SO not right for the band and downright annoying at times. JD is way too cocky. I hope the bands sees it and wants no parts of him. Mig or Marty are the obvious choices.

I am a HUGE Marty fan. I think he is really great. The only thing that concerns me (and I think INXS feels the same) is that his style of singing is very over the top. He yells a lot and his style of singing is amazing but it's not very INXS. I could see him being the lead singer of a goth band and being fabulous or something more along the lines of The Killers. It was on tonight on VH1. Marty gets to sing Trees again tomorrow night. :) They had to meet one on one with INXS for their clinic. The show made it look as though JD and Marty came out on top of that. I also got the impression from tonight's show that two people were leaving tomorrow night. :shocked:

I thought Mig looked so terrible tonight up next to the other three. I'm not the biggest fan in the world of Trees, but it's a lot better than J.D.'s song, which is NOT good. Every episode and every performance that goes by of his makes me hate him even more. He's an arrogant prick, and I honestly cannot imagine INXS wanting to share a dressing room with that jerk every night.

I thought Marty was FANTASTIC. Trees was fine, but Creep? Ohhhh. Creep is one of my favorite songs of all time, and he gave me chills. It was awesome.

Ive a story for you though
I got off late
latest one could arrive was 9

When I arrived at 930 there was a crowd of 20 of us outside the CBS gate
We all had tickets but because we were late they filled with those who just showed

Anyways…they said we could hang and they were awaiting one more radio call to see if more room…so we hung….

all of he sudden this truck pulls out of the cbs gate honking a couple of times and pointing to his co-driver across the street

We all look over to the cross-corner and there’s a blond girl in the gutter with a trash can spilled Everywhere and her scooter in the street…like wtf! A guy from the gas station runs to her aid…I say to the crowd as they just stand there “lets all run to her aid!” (sarcasm included) they all smile and laugh. So I stood there for a moment, the girl is up and takes off her shoes…another guy comes from the station with papertowels…she gets on her cell…the guys are fumbling…I stood there for another 20 secs asking myself where the F are my priorities…I told everyone good luck…and went across the street. I walked up to her side, and asked her if she needed help or a ride…she was on the phone and busted out crying…and with relief told the other on the line that a lady came and will help her…the caller must of asked of me, as the girl then stated “yes she is a very nice lady.” The guys that came on the scene said “you will take care of her?” I said yes, and while she hung up still crying, she starts to put on her shoes…her feet are all f’d up bleeding on the sides from scrapes and already bruising…I told her don’t put your shoes on walk barefoot, and I will get everything for you…my truck was right there…I gathered her things, she held my shoulder, and with her scooter we hobbled to my truck. I sat her in the front seat, and it was hell getting that heavy arse scooter into the back of my truck let me tell you (no one offered to help!) anyways, I get in my truck, and she asked if I could take her to work at Bloomingdales Beverly center…I asked if she was sure she didn’t want to go to the hospital, and she said no that they would help her with first aid etc (that is who she was calling.) I said OK and we were off. I told her a quick story about me falling on my bike as a kid, just learning to ride and going down the steepest hill I could find, and scraping my feet the entire way down. Told her I still had scars. I told her I was thankful I was there to help her, and she said she was so scared of those guys and thankful I was there too. I told her it was OK to cry as I know it hurts, and she busted out…poor babe. Anyways, we get to blomingdales, I dismount her scooter (ugh), take the elevator up to from the park garage, and I take her to the employee rooms and they immed take hold of her. She thanked me over and over, and I said it was ok no big. She asked my name, and I asked hers.

Anyways, here is where it gets really good :D so I drive back by cbs and they are all still standing there…im like F it…im going to go see my dad at forest lawn Glendale which I have been meaning to do for months…so I get there, visit for a while…and then as always I like to go to the museum there…they have all this cool stuff…ancient gold and jewels …emeralds and rubies etc…I enjoy seeing through the glass…I get to the museum and there is an exhibit going on…rock & roll album art…im like cool wonder if FM is here…

so I walk around the corner and lo behold there is a 4’ x 4’ piece on the wall of ms nicks (it all comes down to you) :nod:

In summary I stared into her dark pools for a while and felt better about…well…just everything…

Bottom line, when someone needs help DO SOMETHING…

You and me both, and it's been in my head all morning. I do thank God for small favors though, at least we didn't have to suffer through the megaphone portion of Pretty Vegas last night.

The show was very lame this week, making us listen to those same songs over and over.

I thought booting Suzie was lame. It proved to me that they were never truly interested in having a woman. Otherwise they'd at least keep her until the finale for one last consideration.

Mig offers nothing more than Suzie; he is suited for touring musicals or maybe an Undergear model. I thought his "What You Need" stunk and he overdid the stage moves. I have no idea why he does so well with the votes; maybe he gets a huge chunk of votes from Australia?

JD is clearly the best person if INXS wants to play it safe. He is the closest to Hutchence--but let's be clear, he is NO Michael Hutchence.

Even though I'm addicted to the show, the whole thing is creepy. These guys should find someone around their own age if they want to continue INXS. If I were one of the top 3, I wouldn't want to be chosen because they'll probably have a better chance of stardom on their own.

The best thing about this show is that it got me to listen to all the old albums again and remember what a fantastic band they were.

With all the songs laid out on the floor before them, the three of them decide that they can put a hold on the songs they want. Marty quickly makes a strategic move and grabs "Pretty Vegas," keeping J.D. from his most popular song. J.D. decides on the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want." The song was a showstopper for Ty a few weeks ago, but J.D. has a personal reason for wanting this tune: It's the song he's requested to be played at his funeral (along with another Stones classic, "Sympathy For The Devil").

J.D. doesn't want to repeat himself: "I'm here to progress, not regress," he says. I'm already starting to hear a little bit about the INXS tour in the states... large-ish theatres, $60-$70 top ticket, in January/February or so. It should be... interesting... to see how it does.

I just wonder who they're going to get for the next version of Rock Star. We were joking today in the office that maybe it'll be Rock Star: Blind Melon. "You're just not right for our band, Blind Melon." "Yeah, Contestant #1... we'll need you to sing 'No Rain.' Same goes for you, other two. That's the only song we have."
