Which Fleetwood Macster once said, "In the '60s, rock 'n' roll was a change of attitude -- a drastic change which I think the Beatles were hugely responsible for"? JOHN MCVIE - ANSWERED CORRECTLY BY DIAMONDSNAKE
In October 1976, on a press junket to England, Fleetwood Mac were given a party by their record company. The event was held in the Grand Ballroom of London's Intercontinental Hotel, & featured a giant ice carving. What inscription was written on the ice carving?

How many times since 1975 have members of Fleetwood Mac -- either solo or with the band -- been interviewed by Los Angeles DJ Jim Ladd as part of his syndicated Innerview series? (Two-part interviews with the same guest count as one.)

I'm quite sad to see Lindsey go, but Im in no way gonna vote out Stevie (yet) to avenge him. Why'd you ahve to go after him last round Stew
AND I absolutely agree we need to start a Ledgie Survivor after the completion of this game. But there'd need to be a sign up or something to keep the amount of people reasonable. Maybe the first 20 to respond to a thread would be included. And instead of choosing a song when you answer immunity questions you just clearly help yourself to be immune.

David: YOU FORGOT CHILI D'S VOTE.. not that it made any differencethe only thing I could see was message #196, where Steve said: "Stevie first ... then Lindsey" in response to something someone else said. It didn't strike me as an actual vote. Steve, was that your vote?
Folks, try to put your votes in your subject header. This thread is tsunami'd with a high signal-to-noise ratio. Another thing is that often people will post a big gabby post & then buried within it somewhere is their vote, almost unrecognizable.
Use your heads, folks. Treat life with more precision, more attention, more forethought. don't just flit through life on gossamer Stevie wings, for it cheapens our remarkable capacity to render sense from nonsense. Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. We are not the Ross Ice Shelf. We must reprimand the smooth mediocrity & squalid contentment of the times, as Burke once said.
Let your love flow, folks. Let it flow to distant shores. There, let it sing. Let it sing, folks.
Sing-Sing.
Twenty-thousands years in Sing-Sing, folks. Would you rather have twenty years in Leavenworth or ten years in Woolworth?

Round 9 Results -- BURNETTE VOTED OFF BUT GIVEN IMMUNITY!!!!! STEVIE NICKS OUT BY DEFAULT!!!!!
A MAJOR UPSET!!! Steve MacDougall (SteveMacD) correctly answered the question about Cal Jam 2 & awarded Billy Burnette immunity!! Billy was on his way out, but a sharp ledgie SAVED HIM!! See?! THAT'S how immunity is supposed to work. If you get lucky or just know your ****, you, too, can save your favorite Macster! You may, like Steve MacDougall, get the opportunity to SAVE YOUR FAVE!!!!
Another thing: Everyone's complaining about how stupid it is that Lindsey was voted off so early (or at all). But that's what makes a Survivor game fun!! The more surreal it is, the more fun it is!! Plus, it's a great honor to Lindsey himself. It's such a bizarre, surreal move on our part (voting him off early) that it's equivalent to Lindsey pushing the sonic envelope with his vision of "Tusk." Don't you see the similarities? Be HAPPY, be EXCITED about the result -- don't fear it! EMBRACE IT!! It's totally NEW WAVE, man. I've provided a NEW immunity question, which many of you should be able to answer -- in fact, there are several correct answers to it.
So, since the guy who was voted off this last round was granted immunity, we move on.

I'd be glad to give ol' Stevie the boot, if that's how ya do it!
Also, to answer Steve's question: "Not necessarily performed by Fleetwood Mac"
COME ON, PEOPLE!!! EVERYONE OUGHT TO BE ABLE TO PUT TOGETHER A LIST OF FIFTEEN SONGS THAT WERE PERFORMED LIVE BEFORE BEING PUT ON A FLEETWOOD MAC ALBUM!!! It's easier than you think: but you have to stop to think a bit first. Clear your head of all the yakkity-yak & you will get the answer.

Well, now I wasn't sure about that. Is that the procedure? The person with the next highest number of votes goes?
There are probably dozens & dozens of correct answers from which you can choose!
I answered already...look up (but don't open your mouth)

This survivals seems the missing chapter from The Trial, David. Ok, so now my only goal is to have the most loyal, funny, grounded, FM member to win and he's John McVie.

'Sides, I don't loathe you, Homie... it's a game, right? Stevie got voted against in EVERY round due to people wanting to mess with her fans. Lindsey got voted out because Stevie Fans decided they weren't going to take other people's crap anymore and were going to have some fun of their own.
And Billy Burnette's still here because... well, nobody knows why!

Folks, you have to answer the immunity questions correctly, & then you can SAVE YOUR FAVE!!!!
You can save whatever favorite member you have by just answering the questions correctly. What could be easier?
Nobody even TRIED to guess the question about the concert with four Fleetwood Macsters except SteveMacD -- who got it right! And early on, one guy answered a question correctly but NEGLECTED TO GRANT IMMUNITY TO ANYONE! I mean, what am I supposed to do? Still, only one of you has bothered to answer the current immunity question -- & he granted immunity to Bucky Burnette, or whatever his name is!
But of course I realize you're all making a joke of this thing because I started the game. Hey, & that's okay. It wouldn't be the first time -- or the last -- that I've been battered, bruised, kicked & beaten to a bloody pulp by my fellow ledgies.

I can weigh Lindsey's art on its merits. I think he's a brilliant musician. My post was in jest for the most part and when I said no more insults I said it to the anti-Chiffonese, not to you specifically. That's why I posted that in parenthesis. I also don't give a sh*t about discussions of Lindsey's wife, girlfriend, dick, butt or sexiness but I think a thread discussing Stevie's cute overbite isn't a reason not to be a "chiffonhead". Look, I have no hard feelings and my post to you was a joke, but I don't think it's nice to belittle. The stream of        after saying that sort of thread was the reason you aren't a "chiffonhead" was a little belittling. And...: there are chiffonheadlike Lindseylovers. They talk about his wife, girlfriends, hair, dick, butt and sexyness.
Aw, this is a very sexist statement. It is very easy for a heterosexual male to scoff at women for appreciating Lindsey's physical attributes along with his talent. Perhaps you've never enjoyed a woman's music while admiring her looks, but many men have. It doesn't mean that they are in some way inferior.

Round 10 Results - CHRISTINE MCVIE OUSTED AT MID-TRACK! BUCKY BURNETTE GRANTED IMMUNITY A SECOND TIME!
In a major upset this afternoon, Christine McVie, the elegant, understated superstar of the rock group Fleetwood Mac, found herself out on her keester before the eleventh race had begun, in an upset that experts are calling unparalleled in the annals of modern Ledge threads.
"I don't know what the hell happened back there," McVie said, as she dusted the crud from her soft-rockin' derriere. "All I can remember is reaching behind me for the Yamaha CP-30 treble knob because the sound was all skonked to ****, when WHAM! something hit me like a ton of bricks."
McVie was expected to get the tone mix on her electronic piano fixed, & then finish out the race in a dead heat with Peter Green, the legendary blues-rock guitarist-composer who founded Fleetwood Mac, & who spent the rest of his life all ****ed up in the head. But McVie's bum fall took shell-shocked onlookers by complete surprise.
"Yeah, I liked her a little bit," said curious bystander Homer Mcvie. "She didn't have a whole heckuva lot of charisma, looks, talent, charm or luck, all in all," he said thoughtfully, "but she wasn't a bad cook."
Survivor experts are puzzled as to the effects the McVie toss-out might have on the remainder of the race, as a dwindling bunch of relative nonentities vie for top honors. "I think we'll see a guy who never had a hit song, & possibly never wanted to have a hit song, win this thing," one expert said.
Survivor moderator David Oberman, who should be working, thinks the race has been a dismal failure so far, despite the obvious interest shown in the outcome. "But I guess it beats arguing about aesthetics with bushesandbriars over there on the Stevie ledge," Oberman said, before grabbing an ice cream bar from his kitchen.

"Mirage also marked the first time that Fleetwood Mac didn't automatically tour to support a new album. Stevie's solo career was now in full swing, and she obviously didn't want to do a long Fleetwood Mac road binge in the midst of becoming one of the biggest stars in the business. We did do an eighteen-show stint during the summer of 1982 that was booked around two big outdoor festivals in Florida and the immense U.S. Festival in California (for which Fleetwood Mac received $800,000 for one show). We worked for about a month, made some money, and Irving Azoff's comany, Frontline Management, got 15 percent of the tour for organizing it."
From Mick Fleetwood's "My Life And Adventures In Fleetwood Mac." (Pg. 252 of the hard-back version for those who want to check for themselves.)
Since I answered $800,000 earlier, immunity goes to Mick. :p

The next album Mirage was a return to conventionalism. Hits included: McVie's "Hold Me", Nicks' "Gypsy", and Buckingham's Oh Diane which went Top 10 in the UK. Unlike the Tusk Tour, the band only embarked on a short tour over 18 American cities. They also headlined the first US Festival for which they were paid $500,000.

Billy only made it further than Stevie because I gave him immunity. Sorry, but I just don't think Stevie should win. I don't think Billy should win, either, BTW. And yes, Peter Green is a legend.....but IMO only due to the length of time he's been around, but, honestly, mention his name to non-FM fans, and I doubt they'd know who he is.
When I think of a 'legend', I think Eric Clapton. Keith Richards. Johnny Cash. Pete Townsend. Peter Green is a self-loathing weirdo who, amazingly, hates his fans more than he hates himself. A very talented, self-loathing weirdo...

immunity?
500,000/800,000?
So the only good answer to this question is:
650,000 dollars.
greeny immune.I have a feeling that Mick & Stephen Davis (his writer), who are both British, got their wires crossed. My hunch is that one or the other of them was talking about British pounds. Hence the 800,000 figure. I'm not sure what the pound/dollar conversation rate was in 1990 when the book was written, but currently it's 1 US dollar = 0.566 British pounds. So it's conceivable that 800,000 pounds is about 500,000 U.S. dollars, & Mick and/or Stephen thought the other was talking about U.S. dollars when it was pounds.
At any rate, the actual amount is $500,000. The L.A. Times made a big hooey about it at the time -- Fleetwood Mac was making a lot of money for a single show. They were paid the most of any band that performed at the inaugural US Festival (incidentally, it's pronounced "us" -- like the English pronoun -- & not "U.S.").
However, at the second US Festival, over Memorial Day Weekend in 1983, the Clash was paid $500,000 to perform, & both David Bowie & Van Halen were each paid $1.5 million to perform. So Fleetwood Mac's fee the year before was literally & figuratively last year's news.

Not true at all. He's still highly regarded in the blues community. I've heard LOTS of Peter Green covers at blues shows. Heck, I seem to hear a Peter Green cover at least once a month on the Gary Burbank show on WLW in Cincinnati on his Blues Break segment. In the guitar community, he's still a legend. But only because of the stuff he did between 1966 and 1970, with the Bluesbreakers and Fleetwood Mac, so his legendary status really has nothing to do with the length of time he's been around.
When I think of a 'legend', I think Eric Clapton. Keith Richards. Johnny Cash. Pete Townsend. Peter Green is a self-loathing weirdo who, amazingly, hates his fans more than he hates himself. A very talented, self-loathing weirdo...
OR, Peter Green is as legendary as all of the above, but his flame was cut short due to drugs, and is a perfect example of why NOT to do drugs. He's much less a weirdo than an extremely humble, tragic icon in the history of rock.

The reason why I originally made that comment was simply out of spite, and that is the reason behind me trying to vote off Peter Green. In United States you have a good reason to be sick of the over-familiarity of the Rumours line-up, in Finland I have a good reason to be sick of all the Peter Green praising (the Rumours line-up made almost zero impression here). There's a good number of Green purists here who don't care of Fleetwood Mac without Green, and ignore a lot of great music that the band released between 1970 and 2003. I've heard those people say that "Stevie Nicks ruined Fleetwood Mac" several times, and I'm sick of such narrow-minded views. Geez, Fleetwood Mac released six albums between the departure of Green and the arrival of Buckingham and Nicks, what about those, eh?
Green is worthy of his legendary status, and not because he almost went the same way as Syd Barrett, but because of his outstanding musical contributions. But as sick as some of you are of the "mindless Chiffonheads", I'm just as sick of the Green-purists and their ignorance of a great musical legacy. Enough said.
