This is an idea I had for a thread, but I don't know how well it will work out. Basically, it's a thread to just express your thoughts at any given time. For instance, you could use it to vent, say something you're thinking about but don't feel comfortable saying out loud to anyone else, a song that's running through your head, etc. It can be as meaningless or as important as you want it to be. You don't have to be shy about how you express it either. Just go straight from your mind to writing it down. Anything goes. Even if it's embarrassing, it's great therapy and you're among friends. You can tease in here, but you can't judge. Make sense? Ok, my first thought I've had all day is:
I wish I could sleep. This is killing me.

Really great idea for a thread!
Right now I'm thinking that I wish I had a driver's license. It's something that needs to get done, especially since lately I've been thinking about how great it would be to go see someone I love who's in another state now. But, I failed the test four times. Something went horribly awry each time. I really screwed up on the first try in high school, and then when I practiced more and tried it again a few months later, the woman who gave me the test yelled at me the whole time. It was really horrifying! So, I was kind of set to fail the next two times because I was just so afraid. It makes me so nervous to have someone watching me do all of that, and I'm just waiting for someone to chew me out like that woman did. Some are awfully nit-picky, too, which just makes me more nervous. The last time, the only thing I did wrong was "turn too quickly," according to the woman who rode with me. I hate that damn test. :distress:
I hate the test but I love to vent. But y'all already know that I like to hear myself talk...er, watch myself type? :o

awww..Hillary - just relax, there really is nothing to driving :xoxo: Good luck and I hope you get to see the person you love soon
Speaking of love...I am happy being single, at least I am when I think about all of the people I've met/dated since moving to Rochester.
Seriously.
I'm starting to think there is just something genetically wrong with the men of Rochester. And then I met one woman, but she has SO many problems and issues - figures - I cannot date someone as high drama and with as much baggage as this woman has :distress:
So I guess I would rather NOT be single - but I refuse to be with someone I can't stand just to not be single, ya know?
I keep thinking of this one woman, Carolyn was her name, we were great great friends and I liked her as more than a friend, the feeling wasn't mutual, although she was gay - anyway - very very bad things ended happening in that friendship and I've not dated a woman since (this was oh 5 years ago or so). So part of me is REALLY scared to venture to that side again...
Anyway - I could go on forever with this...see what you started LaGringa??
Great idea for a thread though

Great idea for a thread though :thumbsup:Yeah--stay away from the crazy women with the unmanageable baggage! I understand your hesitance. But at the same time I know that you're young, beautiful, and an all-around great person so I know you'll find a great guy or girl.

Right now I'm thinking of how annoyed I am at people who don't check their phone messages and/or email. I've been trying to get a hold of two of my friends (for diff. reasons) and have been having no luck. Grrr. I check my emails every day (sometimes multiple times a day) and if a friend of mine leaves a message, I ALWAYS CALL BACK!

I just recently had a dream about Carolyn which is why she's in my mind..I just can't get rid of her ghost I guess. I don't even know where she is at this point
And yeah - I know to totally stay away from the crazy girls - problem is finding a girl who isn't psycho crazy ya know? but whatever - I really am just totally content right now with my dog and I'm moving into a new apartment in a couple of weeks! I've got a great job - life is good right now and I couldn't ask for more :D

I really love my new job. Even though I've been working 40+ hours/week, I enjoy it so much. Being a Nurse was the right career move.
I'm happy being single too. But then again I'm not. Last week, my EX came over to see my apartment. He lives with his BF....Well, we ended up making out and stuff. I love him still....miss him still....want him still....I dunno what to do about it. BLAH!

Right now I'm a little lonely because I'm at my Dad's house for the next week, and not only is it away from my friends, but he's home basically a grand total of an hour a day. So for the last couple of days, it's just been me stuck alone in the house  Then we have my ex-boyfriend who wants to get back together with me, I'm relatively sure I'm over him, but I don't know if I want to give up any possibilities

I don't drive either and am scared of it really. I will be 30 next year and have never had a license. I have driven illegally and almost had a very bad accident in my cousin's car. I think that incident scared me quite a bit.

You are not alone!!!!! I'm twenty-four. My THIRD learner's permit just expired. I think I used it maybe a handful of times. I'm so terrified of driving. Everytime I get behind the wheel, my blood pressure shoots up and my palms get sweaty and cramp up from gripping the wheel too hard.
If I recall correctly, Dissention and Amber don't drive either.

It's strange; I never had to take a driver's test. If we got an "A" in driver's ed and our teacher passed us on our practice driving test, we just walked into the bureau and got our license.

Sorry you can't sleep.
I wish I wanted to do something other than sleep...
I usually express most random thoughts anyway. Right now I'm thinking I better start packing and cleaning up my house more, as someone will be here tomorrow to take me away. Then I'm thinking that's really boring, so of course I don't want to do it. Then I'm thinking - millions of people do boring things that make their life run better every day, why is it so hard for me??? That's about it. Oh, I'm also listening to Self Control by Laura Brannigan, and thinking I really like that song. Mainly I'm just sorry you can't sleep. :o

I understand completely. I've gotten so much shiz from my family about it too...that and marriage/kids. LOL My grandmother doesn't drive either. Yes, she's in her late 70's, but my OTHER grandmother does drive and is fine. The thing is, is that my mother's mom drove into a telephone pole back in the day, and never drove again. LOL It's in my genes, I think. Heh.
That's only one reason I'd love to live in London....take the friggin' subway/tube/underground or walk (yay, I lost so much weight that wya. LOL).

I doubt there are many schools left that include behind the wheel training in Driver's Ed. Schools can't afford it. Here in California, you take Driver's Ed, which involves a textbook, lectures, videos, etc, then you go to the DMV, take a written test, get a learner's permit, enroll in Driver's Training (which is the only way to validate the learner's permit if you're under 18. If you're a legal adult you don't have to take Driver's Training.), practice, and go back and take the actual driving test.
I never get past the acquiring of the learner's permit. (I have no problem passing the written test... but once I get the permit I never seem to practice)

Whoa! Drivers training? When I got mine, days after my 16th, I was just supposed to learn while I had my permit. Took the class in school, like you said.

I am supremely annoyed at the traffic I have encountered in Los Angeles this week. It took me over two hours to get home from work last night.
On the flip side, my ass isn't coming in until 11 tomorrow. Then I am doing paperwork, eating lunch, and leaving at 2.
So happy to be single, since everyone has mentioned this subject. Two guys I know want to "date" me, and I am not that into it. Hard to say that in a nice way to them. They're nice guys, but I don't need it. I am extremely content being by myself. Two weekends ago I didn't talk to a soul for 48 hours straight. Heaven. Did yardwork, hungout by the pool, and played with the birds. It was bliss.
Makes up for the traffic.
Oh, and I need more sleep.

Hmmm... Maybe it differs from county to county?
'Cause here you can get your learner's permit at 15 1/2, but it's not valid until you enroll in Driver's Training. Then you practice for six months and take the test.

I wished I wasnt sick every frikkin' day, Now I am starting to develop nausea with the headaches...Hell, I am nauseated and dizzy at this exact moment as I type this up.
I also worry that I may find out I am physically sicker than I believe I am when I have the MRI performed very soon...Lost over 20 lbs since the day my Mother passed away (Every once in awhile I go read that thread on here, And it seems so distant a time ago, But it was only 3 months ago :distress: ), Still stressed out from awaiting the autopsy results so we can proceed with a negligent death lawsuit.
Otherwise, I trade music as usual to keep my mind (When not in pain) off of this sick thing known as my life...Thank God I have a family to vent to, I may be the youngest child at 35, But I feel much, much older mentally.

Me too. And I'm thinking it's too bad I don't swing that way at all because Deanna is so cool and I am having the same problems with men around here. What am I some kind of magnet for men who can't treat a woman right? Yes. So I am happily single as well. I'd really rather be on my own.
The last man I was with did a number on my self-esteem and I feel so much better now but I'm beginning to get that itch. I miss the companionship. But not the drama. Not the drama at all. Like Mary J says, no more drama in my life.

As for the issue of being single...
Sometimes I'm happy about it. Sometimes its depressing. I've never been in a real relationship (and am still a virgin :( ). (I know you and I have had this conv. before, Amber, but I'm gonna vent anyway) All I seem to attract are really nasty perverted men (like the one who wanted to breastfeed me) and butch lesbians (sorry, but if I'm gonna go for a lady she'd better look like a lady). All I ever fall for are men that are either married or otherwise taken, and women that are as straight as a ruler. That's depressing. Really, really depressing.
On the other hand, I don't have to report to anyone. I don't have anyone trying to dictate who I can see and where I can go and I don't have the worry of wondering who anyone is with and what anyone is doing. Plus I'm the kind of person who likes to have a lot of alone time.

Hon, I wish you weren't sick too. I hope that they find what is wrong. I'm so sorry about all you've been through. I really feel like there are good things around the corner for you though. Just hold on through the bumpy stuff right now and I think when you get through this rough patch you are going to have a very nice and happy time in your life. And you will feel younger then than you do now. I don't know why I see this for you but I do. I hope it is true. You and Deb really deserve some good stuff. I truly believe in karma. Yeah, that's why, you've got some good stuff coming because what goes around truly does come around. You put out so much good energy into the world, it is going to come back to you.

Here ya go: I had my first boyfriend in kindergarden. We "dated" off and on until I was about 18. By that time, he had his head in his ass... dealing drugs and stealing cars/radios out of cars, etc. Anyway, I was his first love. The last time I saw him, we were 18, and he had enlisted himself in the Marines to get himself out of trouble. So, he came over and we talked for a long time, yadda, yadda, yadda, and he asked me to marry him. I told him no, and I haven't heard from him since. Last Friday comes along, and he stops over at my parents house wondering how he could get in touch with me. He gave my dad his business card and asks for me to give him a call. I was estatic to hear he came around after 10 years, and I was curious to see how he turned out. We talked the next day for 2 hours, and he goes on about how he never wants to go that long without talking to me, and he would like to keep in touch as often as possible, and he was sorry he wasen't there for me when Jason died.... oh, by the way, I've been married for 4 years now! WTF??? Why are you looking for your first love, then? Would'nt your wife be pissed if she found out you were looking for me? Have you even told your wife your calling me? I mean, it could be totally innocent, and he was just checking up on me, come over to a BBQ, meet my wife.. but why say all the things you just said to me?? And, he has told me zilch about his wife. I tried to ask. He would'nt talk about her. Is it just me, or does he have an "itch"?

Same. I have this one friend who I used to be really close with but she never returns emails and rarely phone calls. When we do talk its lovely but the other times are so frustrating. :distress: I have some of the best times with her but they are few and far between. I want to make some new friends but that isn't the easiest thing for me to do. I'm working on it though. I love to do things like kayak, other kinds of boating, water skiing, yet I have trouble finding companions somehow. I often feel isolated. I hate it. People are so noncomittal. I have a friend at work, I've asked him to do a number of things over the past month and he always has some excuse. I give up. I must be picking people that aren't interested in hanging otu with me or something. I don't know. Okay, I'm gettign too personal on here. Lagringa, dangerous topic for Suze! :)
And Curtis, I'm sorry you're sad about the ex BF. He's an idiot. Okay, I don't know what he is but if he's made you feel sad I have to say he's an idiot.
I am so happy for you that you love what you are doing. When are you moving to Boston? ;)

Right, he has an itch. Also, people don't change. I've tried to go back and it's never worked. It ended the first time for a reason. However, I don't think it is a bad thing to be in touch, just be very forthcoming and honest about what you will and won't tolerate. If he cannot fit into that then tell him it is best if you two don't keep in touch. If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat...

I disagree. It's obvious he's unhappy in his marriage and looking for something that meant a lot to him...and still does. Why live a life of uncomfort?

Well, as far as his changing, as far as I can tell, he has to the point where he owns his own business, and is going back to college in the fall for his MBA. So, in that sense, I'm proud of him. He went much further then I ever did. But I won't tolerate a cheater. If his intentions are to cheat on his current wife, now, I will have nothing to do with that. Who's to say he wouldn't do it to me in 4 years..... I'm not even saying that's his intentions. But I'm puzzled on why now.

My ex-fiancee' Christy located my late Mother in March 2004 asking to see if she could get in contact with me, So my Mother obliged with my address/phone info.
Now I thought that was rather strange considering she wanted to know everthing about me since we parted in early 1991, Then she told me she was married and I told her I was also married (As apparently my Mother also did.), It felt weird talking to my ex after all these years, She said she wanted to tell something, But she never did state what it was that was
Kinda funny but yet rather mysteriously, on Father's Day 2004 my Mother sent me a Father's Day card, Knowing full well Deb & myself have no children (Mom said she did it by mistake, Sure...Like any Mother would not remember if their children were parents)...Hmmm, Maybe that couldve been what Christy was wanting to tell me.

If that's really what you like to do, I'd be soooooo there with you! My friends are like that, too, but there's nothing I can do, because they really are very busy. Plus, one is a gemini and one an aquarius, so, really, non committal are their middle names. Step away from the wall, Amber.
making new friends is hard, I think. For me. I have friends that make new friends constantly, though. I guess they're just different, ie, people automatically like them, but not me. :p

No. They're called friends. :) Unless...
you don't like sex either. Then they are called "your boyfriend".

(I have no problem passing the written test... but once I get the permit I never seem to practice)Whoa, lots of posts to respond to! I went to a school that included actual driving in driver's ed. I started out awful and then improved and wound up being decent enough. But, the thing is, we just got a certificate saying we passed driving school at the end. All that meant was that I could get my learner's permit, which I did immediately. But then the actual driving test didn't work out too well.
I am so jealous of you Krista!

Yeah... 'cause you're sssooo much older than me.
Plus I'm the kind of person who likes to have a lot of alone time.
sorry, I didn't see this before...
uh...well, it's better to be single than with someone lame.
I don't really understand the whole "attracting perverts" thing, I don't know why that is happening.
I understand the "lady who looks like a lady" thing - but of course, those may be hard to come by....
I dunno.
Lame. I like a lot of alone time, too, but with sex added.
It's hard to have advice. I mainly get bf's by going out. And people like my friends because they are really nice to everyone, and because they are hot. Can't drink - alchohol even in small doses makes me ill.
Can't dance - have no rhythm and poor balance.
I like live music, but let's remember that I live in Vacahell. Live music around here consists of three things: Country bands at the local bars ( ), local alternative (or whatever the hell they call themselves now) bands  (which means a lot of stoned-out teeny boppers), and the middle-aged mediocre cover bands that play at the Creekwalk.
I'm really not trying to be contrary. (Believe it or not). I've never had luck in the romance department - friends have tried hooking me up with friends of theirs or friends of their boyfriends (one even tried to pass off one of his own boyfriends off on me "He's bi, you want him?"), but nothing ever came of it.
Also, my senses seem a bit off. There've been times when friends and coworkers have said "That guy was totally checking you out/flirting with you!" and I didn't even notice.

Okay, here I go:
1. Last week, a guy I went to school with was killed in a car accident. Now, this guy was a total jerk towards me and made my life hell for a few years. EXTREMELY arrogant. Mind you, I haven't seen or spoken to him in at least twelve years, so he could have become a nice guy. While I feel bad for his family, I'm more worried about my own feelings. Instead of being sad, all I can think is "who's the loser NOW?!? :D "
2. I REALLY need to find a job. I'm going on four months. I think I'm going to quit social work altogether and find a less stressful job that pays more. I hear Wal-Mart is hiring.
3. My dog won't stop ****ting in my garden. HE KNOWS it's wrong, and gets that "oh ****, I've been caught" posture whenever I catch him.
4. Canada recently passed same-sex marriage. Does this mean I have double the options if I want an immigration wedding? I might agree, but only if I'm drunk and on top...
5. The first time somebody listened to a BUSH, a race of people walked across the desert for forty years. Is this a bad omen?
6. Why do they call them "near misses." If you nearly miss something, aren't you actually hitting it? Shouldn't they be called "near hits?"
7. Miss Vicky's handle makes me think of potato chips...mmmm, potato chips.

EDIT: I have a couple of friends who have been together for about five years now and they refuse to use any of that stuff. People have tried to convince them that it's all part of it and they should try but they've told me that the idea grosses them out.I'm just saying, to me, it's way less than ideal. :shrug:Well, yeah, different stuff for people of different sexual orientations, right? Or at least I've assumed as much. I have to keep pointing out that I know nothing about all of it, really. :o

Please people remember that when you go to a retail store...the return policy is the return policy, it is not negotiable..
And the salesperson who makes 8 bucks an hour could care less if you never shop there again..OK??

- I hate school and i'm not even in it yet. I was waaaay ****ing older than everyone at orientation and i'm just really not feeling it as a whole. I'm going to go but i've decided if i'm not happy, i'm done. Someone said i've worked too hard to get this far--and he's right, I have--so i'll give it a chance.
- I was an asshole and stepped on my iPod. The center white button is stuck in and now I can't get it to work at all. I was too cheap to purchase the warranty so i'm going to have to go in there and do something that generally annoys me when I see it--work the feminine charm to get my own way so I won't be charged for them to fix it.
- After the whole mess with my car and the highway incident, Sunday night my dad went to go out and took my car. It started smoking in the driveway. Their car was dead out front of our house. We had to get a rental. Took the car back to Buick, turns out it was their fault. I was pissed but they fixed it for free. Knock on wood this car is golden for the next 100,000 miles because I feel like it's ALWAYS being repaired.
- Today at 3:15 PM, my neighbor Jim passed away. They moved in when I was little and I became best friends with their granddaughters on day one (they were always visiting) and became their surrogate granddaughter. He had some type of cancer and then developed Lukemia ontop of that. He had been getting blood transfusions weekly for the past several months but was still up and about doing yardwork, washing his car, etc. Two weeks ago, he and my father spent an hour outside talking--he basically said goodbye to my father because he knew he was dying. Last Wednesday, police, ambulance, EMT's etc, swarmed out front of my house at 10 am. He was rushed to the hospital where he was put in the ICU. Ironically, that same day, my father got a phone call--his real father he's never met died (he's in Italy). My father was making dinner and I heard my dog barking tonight. Heather and Traci--two of his granddaughters were starring solemned face with my dad as I came down the stairs. I just knew. I burst into tears. This is the first time i've ever seen my dad cry.
- I don't want to work tomorrow.
I think that's enough. It was good though. I feel better

That's too bad that you're all bummed about school now. You seemed so excited about it a week ago.
A lot of times I don't want to do things or I think I won't like doing whatever and then once I get into it, it's okay. So I bet once you're in school and you're busy with that, it will all be alright. So like you said give it a chance. ;)

My bf and I fight constantly. Our relationship has always been rocky, but lately the fights have to be more intense/violet. We just moved into a new house in April, so I'm kinda stuck. Even if I could leave, I really don't have someone to stay with. I guess I could go back with my mom, but she's going through a divorce and has her own problems.
I've come to the conclusion that most of my friends are shallow assholes.
I can't make a freakin' decision about what the hell I want to do in regards to school. I've flip flopped so many times it's ridiculous.

:xoxo: Thanks. One of these days, I'll just pass out wherever I'm standing. Boring is boring (wow, that was deep.. ) so don't clean if you don't want to. Life is short and tomorrow is your birthday. Relax. Chill. Who's taking you away tomorrow and where?

I've also had clients at my old work tell me that I should work for a 900 number) and call myself "Miss Vicky."

We will go out to hear my other friend sing, then on Friday she will take me to Chico, where I will go to the River to swim (my favorite thing) and we will randomly go out to bars and go to parties and flirt with people.
:( I don't want to pry and ask what's wrong, but I'm sorry you're not well and about your mother. Sounds like you have a lot of sh*t on you right now. We need a huge, gigantic hug smilie! *Imagine it right here* :)

I'm catching up which is why all my posts are back to back.
That was f*cking rude he looked you up. I guess he missed you and doesn't want to let more time go by, but he was your first love! Doesn't he know that? Or, he has what you said (an itch) and wants to bang behind his wife's back. Either way, it's a messy situation. Don't let him f*ck with your head. :distress:

As far as school is concerned, you and I are the same age--I took two years off and am about to jump back into it again but I went back and forth many many many times. It's better to make a decision later than to spend money and go to school and change your mind after you've paid and decide you don't want to be there, don't want to do it, etc.

last summer I started to develop esophagal problems, Which required a surgery and biopsy (Which was negative), No ooner than I healed from that then I started to have cardial problems, With my pulse rate jumping sky-high without notice...Saw the Dr. for that and they could not find any problems even though 2 separate EKG's showed that there was a problem (2 separate EKG's performed by 2 different doctors showed the same abnormal heart rhythm).
Even before this past summer's illnesses I have been battling severe headaches which morphed into daily migraines from hell (Which I still suffer daily), At first didnt really think more of 'em until this past may 3rd I was driven to the ER after nearly blacking out at home...My BP was abnormally high (177/110) so the ER doctor asked for a CT Scan to be performed, But he told my wife (Who is employed at the same hospital as a nurse) the CT Scan came back clear/'negative' (The Radiology techs just looked at my sinuses and not much more) so I was told my headaches were from "eye strain" (Which I thought was BS!!!) but I had a regular DR. appt the next week anyways.
My regular doctor, BKA "Doogie Howser" said the lead radiology doctor went over my CT Scan results and found a rather "abnormal calcification in the right temporal lobe" of my brain (Which the techs totally missed), Which could either have been the remnants of a pass stroke (!!!) or it could be a tumor (!!!) of some type...He said it seemed ironic that the headaches are happening and then this "abnormal calcification" appears, So they are very possibly related.
Guess we'll find out sooner than later...

Just got off the phone with a relative and got the "Why aren't you married yet". speach. "You must be too picky". And no... Just cause I am single at my age does not mean I am gay. (I have gay friends, and my relative can't understand why I would be friends with them if I am not gay myself. Gee, can't you like a person for themselves? Does it really matter their orientation? hello......
My turn to Rant: I am single. (An WAY older than most here) And straight. I would rather stay single and maybe, if ever, find Ms. right, than settle for a MS. right now. I am coming to the conclusion that I am from the past, (Still has manners, likes romance, would be nice just to talk to someone with their own opinions, ...etc) and the few dates I have had recently has led me to the conclusion that there is noone "normal" anymore.
Date One: Was more interested in my financial statements than me.
Date Two: Wanted to pick out china patterns after the first date. Is romance dead? Could you atleast find out my favorite color first? Why rush things? (Here is where my from another time kicks in. - Don't do one night stands, Sex and Love go hand in hand for me. If I don't truly love you, we ain't gettin' it on.) Not judging, thats just me.
Date Three: Hates Mac/Nicks - enough said. Sorry, have to accept me for me. Stevie/Mac been in my life far longer than you chicky.
Date Four: Looked like a 10 had the brain of a houseplant. Nice to look at, but need a bit more than that. Bored...bored...bored... Didn't know if we should go to dinner or if I should repot her. (I know it was an act, noone is THAT shallow and dumb - I kept looking for the dorsal fin. I could smell the setup.) And soon it showed itself. Sorry not financing your gambling habit. Why can't people be themselves? Tired of games.
So I am at the point I really don't care anymore. They say "Just stop looking and they will come into your life" 10 years later and still a no-show. AND I DON'T CARE. If the magic and spark isn't there, it isn't there. end of story. I accept it, why does everyone think because you haven't found her yet, something is "wrong"? Harummphffffff

Other Random Thoughts;
Why can't you buy a Decaffinated Coffee table?
awww...you deserve way better than that. I just only this year got the "yeah, you'll never have babies and we'll never have grandkids" speech from my parents. Didn't even think they cared.
Honestly, seeker, I'm suprised. Maybe it's because of where you live?
That's very strange.
Maybe it's cause you don't flirt??? JK - but it does help. But if you don't like someone, anyways, though, you shouldn't flirt with them.
I dunno, I can usually tell if I like someone right away. That would be the only person I'd ask out. If I asked people out.

I have lived in many places as a single (Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Cincinnati). I usually get the following speaches:
"You are so great I wish I had someone to set you up with - (gee I thought I was trying to date you) "
I hear from friends that are girls about "how crummy their BF's are and wish they were more like me" - but they wont date me (Or worse married female friends who wish they had dated me instead back then. A bit late now!)
"I am not good enough for you speach - variation of the just friends speach". Must be the "new" thing.
(Here is one to make you cringe) - I over heard one of my relatives say: "If he wasn't my first cousin I would date him in a second. I won't even go there with a comment.
I think I need to go get a prison record, or stop bathing, or become an A**hole. Seems only way to find anyone these days.
Girls say they want a "nice guy". I beginning to think they really don't. Now where is that Harley catalog - maybe a tattoo- do they give Jerk classes anywhere? (Actually some of the nicest people I have met had harley's and tattoos....so that won't work).

Oh I do. In my own way. I think it's my "Old fashioned" need to know her favorite color atleast first. Sorry just feel silly getting "sexier" on the first date. I want to know what I am dealing with first. I know it is they way I am. I like the thrill of the romance as well as the finish line. But give it a few dates atleast. Just me. If it is going to last, or have a chance to go somewhere I want to put the time in. If all I wanted was sack time, wouldn't be a problem. I want MORE damn it! :p Girls just don't want to committ to something long lasting. :D
I know I am different. I don't fit most molds and steriotypes and it is hard for girls to deal with. I feel like I was plucked out of time and put here. I am who I am. When or If, the right person shows up then so be it. Otherwise I am just fine as I am as a single.

When are you moving to Boston? ;)
That's the beauty of this thread. It's all about saying what you feel, no holds barred so there's no such thing as too personal. :D
I'm still catching up (only on page 3, keep getting interrupted) but I know what you mean about isolation. It's not so much that my friends don't call back - well actually, they don't. One of my biggest things is that almost all of the friends I had, used. When I got clean, everything changed. My bf still does coke and it was hell staying with him when I wasn't. I still can't believe I didn't go back to it. We broke up a little over a month ago and since then I've been almost totally isolated. I have a total of three friends who are relatively clean, meaning they get high but nothing else. I can't even get high anymore because I know I'll go back. I have a very addictive personality. So, everyone else I hung out with still do all of it. I stay in seclusion. I feel ok about it, but then I don't. I'm afraid to be alone and afraid to go out. So, yep, when I call them, they don't always call back. I'm not *cool* or *fun* anymore to them because I don't party the way I used to. It's real hard not to get your feelings hurt. I do know what you mean. It's not an identical situation, but the end result is the same. Ok, now I'm getting personal.

That sounds fine. It sounds great, really. But even if you are talking about someone's favorite color, it's nice to have a smidge of "sexy" in your face... Just saying...it makes someone look interested...you know....like "I am really interested in what you are saying, and I want to make you scream!"

Okay, maybe I am too cautious and think too much. Just the way I am. I like to take my time and go slow. (I don't think giving the relationship a chance to grow after only 2 dates is unreasonible) I think if I tried to be "Too sexy for my shirt" type on the first meeting, it wouldn't work. Just not me. I actually find it a turnoff if they try to jump into bed too soon. It has to really "mean" something to me. GAWD...What would Stevie do?
Stevie would do Chris Isaak. :D
Since I'm only up to page 4, you may already have this all figured out. In case you don't, if you really like the guy who doesn't like anal, I guess it's what you can give up to be with him or not? I don't think I could give up certain things sexually because I really am too into it, for any guy. I guess if I loved him enough? But, starting out like that is hard if you really, really like doing that thing he doesn't want to do. Did that make sense?

No, that's all good, I'm just only saying, it's a good idea to hold some sexy in your pocket while you get to know people. which doesn't mean busting out your "disco stew" or anything. It just means having something compelling in your eyes, a certain intangible lust about your presence. But subtle.
don't mind me, just do your own thang! :)

to use my addictive personality to fill a void in my life with something worthwhile, and that worthwhile addiction was/is/and always will be music. Never tried any type of illegal drug (Sad but very true, I did that just to be different than anyone!!!), Never drank, smoked or partied (Again, My choice to be different than the rest of the flock...Also part of me wanted to see how strong mentally I could be, I succeeded to a point, My greying hair shows my battle scars proudly).
Music was there for me when nothing else was, or when no one else was...I remember when Deb was hospitalized with cancer/septis in early 2004, I remember I absolutely buried myself in my music cause otherwise I would have lost it and probably would have either became an absolute basketcase or be worm-food.
I remember making the daily 120 mile one-way trip to the hospital before/after work, blasting Dream Theater's "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" disc #2 (Which is a concept album based on several different individuals surviving depression/isolation/manic psychosis.) and that disc gave me strength to make it...I even memorized the lyrics to all 42 minutes of the song. And I can clearly remember the drives back home to sit by myself alone in our house, which was the hardest thing (At the time) for me to deal with...I remember feelin' there was a strong possibility I was goin' to be a widower at age 33, And if not for the music I would have went downhill fast cause I could have easily started to do drugs and/or drink just to relieve the pain I was feeling (Like my oldest brother, Who I now believe to be a lost cause)...But I had my music there to carry me through, And it got me through that pain in my life and it got me through the recent pain in my life.
To music I will forever be grateful

That is very hard. Good luck. I've heard that people who quit stuff have to, and do, get a whole new set of interests/hobbies/friends. It's quite amazing you were able to be around it, and not do it, I think. *high five*. That surely is a hard step. I found it really hard to even quit smoking cause all my friends do.

last summer I started to develop esophagal problems, Which required a surgery and biopsy (Which was negative), No ooner than I healed from that then I started to have cardial problems, With my pulse rate jumping sky-high without notice...Saw the Dr. for that and they could not find any problems even though 2 separate EKG's showed that there was a problem (2 separate EKG's performed by 2 different doctors showed the same abnormal heart rhythm).
I would try to inject some humor here in something a friend of mine said once "when life takes a piss on you, get pissed and live life". This guy never says deep ****, so this was kind of a shock. It's not really humorous as much as it's true. The thing that you're going through is bull****. You shouldn't have it. You sound like a really good guy (the perfect guy I said before), you are in love with your wife, you are killer hot, and you've had enough (losing your mom). Get pissed at this, fight it and take care of yourself, even if it means being a little selfish about it. As happy as you seem, your wife would be devastated if anything happened. For that reason alone, fight it. :xoxo:

 You are the perfect man! Storms is the whole reason I started listening to Stevie in the first place and I can't listen to it ever without crying. Her voice, the words, the music, the meaning are all so intense and personal.

:distress:
No, I was his first love. My first love is deceaced. Either way, he still has an itch.

- I hate my job. Even though the pay is good, and it truely isn't that hard, I hate it with a passion. It's partly (ok...mostly) the people that work there.
- I've been singing the song Fall From Grace in my head forever.
- I have a huge crush on my best friend Rhys. I don't know if he sees that or not, but I just love being around him, he's a lot of fun. :o :p
- It's summer vacation, and I really ought to get out with my friends more. But Ledgies are friends too, right? :wavey: :xoxo:

You're NEVER stuck and if it's bad, it's better to jump ship now before you're married with children
As far as school is concerned, you and I are the same age--I took two years off and am about to jump back into it again but I went back and forth many many many times. It's better to make a decision later than to spend money and go to school and change your mind after you've paid and decide you don't want to be there, don't want to do it, etc.
I had to look at that bitches ass every morning in Vegas. Our room faced the Bellagio where the sign was. I want tighter buns--it made me jealous
 Yes, that sign is evil to real women everywhere. No one's ass looks like that, it's all retouched. I can't imagine having to see that every day, you have my sympathies Creeping.
Also, I left my ex fiance after 8 years but I knew much sooner it was not going to work. I just kept trying to force it. That will never work. If there's violence, please just get out of there. Remember you deserve so much more.

I just hit 40 a few months back. For some reason that is the "If it hasn't happened yet, it isn't going to happen" age for some people. Sorry, the romantic in me won't put an age limit on it.
That's great. I won't either. Hang in there. Too bad we didn't even have a chance to talk in Vegas. ;)

My roommate looks like Darryl Hannah/Cameran Diaz/Gwinyth Paltrow and when I got out with her I feel invisible. And she loves going out and will be approached within a couple of minutes. Then I stand there awkwardly. This adds to my obsession with losing weight etc. We are going out tonite. Whoopie.

Nearly all my friends (not that I have loads of them) are coupled or couples. Just isn't the same.

Don't worry about your roomate and feeling invisable
You still have a light inside you that someone , that is special...can see
Beauty is for the weak-it's just added "eye candy"
What is in your heart....that is who you are...And there really and truly are people that can see and feel that inner self that you. (and all of us, for that matter) possess-Good or bad....
So, don't sweat the small stuff-
When people (men I am assuming), fawn all over her...take the opportunity to observe and really "look" at the men as they show such eagerness...a learning and teachable moment...always observe...it's free and you learn many things about people.
Perhaps, you will realize that these are men you actually wouldn't even want showing you attention... Just something to think about

Oh, and I need more sleep.
You sound like me there :D
I have one guy being VERY persistent about trying to date me - I've tried everything from letting him down nicely to being a complete bitch - nothing seems to work  He just called me yesterday (I didn't answer).
And I LOVE the weekends where I just keep to myself and do things around the house or with my dog  It IS heaven - my friends totally don't understand it though and think it's very strange that I don't want to party every single weekend....

Whoops, sorry. I misunderstood. Yep, he's got an itch, though. Ok, random thought coming. Why do men cheat on their wives? I know that's a big question, but it's really rampant. I get hit on a lot by married guys. I'm sure evreybody else does. My friend is a concierge at a hotel and sees a lot with his job involving married men. So, what's the deal?

I was out with friends a few months ago. This guy was being really nice to one of us, Danny (short for Danielle). I thought it was just harmless flirting or whatever. Then my friend Dawn says she saw them kissing out front and she has a good feeling about them. I'm like "He's married! He's wearing a ring!" Her jaw just dropped.
I was surprised these girls were so naive. They were like, "Why would someone act like that if they are married?" But I have experienced that more so I look for the ring, they didn't even think to look. It turned into this major drama.
Why do they cheat?
* Because they can.
* They have a compulsion.
* Sexual addiction.
* Looking for a thrill.
* Unhappily married.
* Wife is frigid.
* Know they can get away with it and have no conscience. (these are the very scary ones)
I don't know. Is any reason really good enough?
Many men do remain faithful. But I always get hit on by married men too, most recently last Thursday. He was saying something about his lips and how kissable or soft or something (I know, hurl) and my roommate was like, "That must be great for your WIFE." I really love her extra when she says those kinds of things because I hadn't noticed the ring. Sometimes even the educated can slip. G@dd%^& men. I guess the clubs are where these types prowl. Makes sense I guess. Stupid clubs.

Same zone I get in doing long bouts of exercise, singing, or playing the guitar. It is great and probably an indication that my job has physically and creatively drained my batteries to the cracking point.

I don't know. Is any reason really good enough?
I could write a PhD on this one.
I think those are a few reasons. Mainly it isn't the addiction or the compulsion.
I have found a few things in my married buddies personalities that really explain a lot.
Most of them don't want to be married. Period. When you get down to it, they felt they HAD to get married, and HAD to have kids. They got married sooner than they should have, and most of them to the wrong woman. Let's face it, only a fraction of humans take any personal responsibility these days. So, anyone who feels hurt, and feels victimized or "unhappy", feels the permission to go out and get satisfied. Fill in the blank for what the satisfaction entails - food, sex, danger, spending on credit cards, etc.
People want what they want and they want it NOW.
I also think that our modern society fails to realize that marriage is a modern construct. The concept of these crazy over the top "weddings" for everyone only took hold in the Victorian era. Before that the big wedding was the sole domain of the wealthy and marriage was about property transfer and control of power. Families arranged marriages to consolidate wealth and power. The romance thing is new new new. Love is not - but the concept of a romantic, fulfilling, fairy tale marriage definitely is.
For tens of thousands of years, men (and this is about why MEN cheat) have not had to control their sexual drive the way modern society demands. I am not apologizing -this is history. This is history and we are when you get down to it, animals. Biologically and historically, women have had kids and raised them, men have gone out and killed stuff and protected them. Not a whole lot time to worry about sexual fidelity and romantic fulfillment. That is a lot of history that has had to have had an impact, and imprint on the way the mind operates. Modern marriage, in my opinion, runs counter to tens of thousands of years of history and behavior in the male of the species. Do I think marriage and monogomy are wrong ? No. But I think this is one of the main reasons why men cheat. And by and large, probably will always cheat. Everyone forgets that the way we live now is brand new, and a mere sliver in the history of our species. This whole marriage thing is a small branch on an enormous oak tree of social history.

A romantic, fulfilling marriage is a modern construct, yes. In order to develop a deep bond of trust you have to remain faithful. A marriage where people are straying is not a real union because there is deception there. Yes, men are hard wired to desire many partners but they also can learn to love and cherish one if that is what they want. This is a very rewarding thing if you are highly evolved emotionally. It sucks that some people feel like they had to get married or have kids. In this day and age, that's crazy. I don't want to marry anyone that doesn't want to get married.

I'm not an old-fashioned kind of girl , but that is one thing that really turns me off. Taking the reasons one by one:
Compulsion: How many men actually have a sexual compulsion? Is that common?
Sexual addiction: Isn't that the same thing?

Unhappily married: And this one might be the biggest.
Wife is frigid: Why do women become frigid? (random thought again) Could it be that their husbands have them so beaten down with worry and pressure that they become frigid?
Know they can get away with it and have no conscience: I think some men are so careful about premeditating it and setting it up (the affair). You're right. These are the scariest ones.
I don't know and maybe I'm making it too simple, but why get married at all if you're just going to want to bang someone else? It seems like a like of trouble and expense to go to just to find someone else to f*ck around with.

The compulsion/addiction thing is questionable and yes they are nearly identical. I think addiction just indicates a more regular pattern. Some people really are sexually addicted though I think having that clinical diagnosis is fairly rare.
Oh yeah, and women become frigid because they are not satisfied and they don't know how to tell their spose and get what they want need. Just a theory.

. . . I've been with my partner for almost 12 years now. It certainly has never been perfect- no relationship is. But, I love him and I really enjoy my time with him despite our differences. Is it a marriage?? Eh. I guess it kind of is until we decide it isn't. Ever since regaining my sanity and discovering real happiness, I pretty much live in the here and now. I hate talking in bumper stickers, but what is one to do?

The ring is ALWAYS the first thing I look for on a guy lol...even guys I'm not interested in - it's become standard, I see a man I look for a ring  And lately? I'm noticing that they're all married!!! It sucks.
I have a friend who always looks and notices! No matter if they are 10 or 100 she will check that out first thing. Me, I really am in a fog sometimes. I never notice much about men anyway.

Trust me, if I took the rings off ya can easily see the marks of where I have worn these rings for over 12.
I guess that is why men who cheat don't bother to take the ring off. Maybe it is like that Seinfeld episode where George wears a wedding ring and women throw themselves at him. Are some women really turned on by that? Maybe woman are attracted to things that are not available to them.
I don't know but it does seem odd if someone wants to cheat why would they keep their ring on?

My bf wants to get back together. He called me last night and we were on the phone for 3 hours. Obviously, I still care about him but he still does coke, won't give it up, he's jealous, possessive and he hates, hates, hates Stevie and FM. I mean, hates them. He actually took my Tusk cd (my most prized one of all) out of its case so he could use the case for something else and left my cd sitting on top of the dryer. I know that's some small ****, but it pissed me off. The coke is big ****. I needed to vent. I don't know what to do. :distress:

Yep, I know. He is work. When we were on the same level, we got along. When I changed (when I got clean) our relationship changed and everything was different. We started fighting, he began to get really paranoid I was going to leave him. I did, so maybe he wasn't so paranoid. The things we did together, we didn't do anymore. I can live with him hating Stevie and FM. We broke up soon after I went to Vegas. We had the biggest fight we'd ever had, but I think it was years of **** coming to the surface. I could go on and on, but I don't want to bore. There's one reason I want to go back. Well, two. I'm lonely and I love him. :(

I don't want to preach or anything, coz I really don't know you and your relationship, but sometimes, it can be more lonely being in a relationship, than actually not (does that make sense?) sometimes it's best to cut your losses, and make that change by leaving and finding "real "love, the kind that is so much easier, by being the true you .
All, I can say is I've been there and done that and it can all work out in the end.....good luck with any decision you make. :)

Well, it was really only because I started reading 1984 around... 5 in the morning. Then Buffy was on, so I watched that (even though I have all the episodes on DVD  ). Then Spongebob was on, so I watched that. Then I read some more. Flipped around some channels, saw Gilmore Girls was on. Watched that. Then I decided to force myself to go to sleep.
My deal is that, when I read before I go to sleep, I usually like to read a chapter. The chapters in 1984? Really short. So if I only read one, I'd feel cheated or something, so I ended up reading 60some pages. If I'm not reading, then I ALWAYS find something on TV that I watch. Then something else. Then something else. And that's why I stay up all the time.
It's soooo haaard getting back on track for school. I usually have to bust out the Tylenol PMs or Melatonin or something.
So it sounds like the real problem here is that you are a TV adict! lol
Don't feel bad, I'm one too! My poison lately has been Nanny 911 and I Love Lucy! LOL

Besides the stomach part I've had these symptoms a couple of times. Once at a concert where I was dehydrated and overheated. These things tend to happen too when you're under a lot of stress. Are you stressed out? Regardless, you should let your doctor know that it happened. And I really doubt it means there's something seriously wrong with you.

I pay all my bills by check. Many years ago, a signed up for an auto withdrawl pay device for a loan I had and the FUC*&ING comp. took all of the payments out at once to the tune of over $100,000 and it took two weeks to sort out. I don't have them automatically deduct anything. I just go online and punch in my info when it's time to pay the bill. With checks, you have to write them and mail way ahead of time, and hope they get there before the due date. Then you have to keep up with when you wrote it, and how much it was, so you don't overdraw your account...I've had checks take weeks to clear. I don't even remember what shirt I wore yesterday...how the hell am I supposed to remember a check I wrote 3 weeks ago? It's just a big hassle. Let me go online, punch in my stuff, and have them take it out right then (or within the next day or two).

My mother-in-law is a giant pain in my ass. Her 40th wedding anniversary is tomorrow. A couple of months ago, she wanted my husband and I to throw a big wing-ding for them. Then she had surgery, and she's still feeling "weak" over a month later (drama queen, seriously!). She decided she didn't want to have the big anniversary party, so we forgot all about it.
Now, she's decided she wants to do it. Next weekend. My husband is an only child, so we are the ones "in charge" of this ****. We were going to just have a cook-out and invite family and close friends, but oh no. She wants a big deal, more formal, and way more people. Next weekend. Where am I gonna find the time, not to mention the $$$$ to throw this together???
And this.....is only a small example of why she's such a giant pain in my ass. The end.
My chest hurts.

Why does my new insurance company not have online bill pay? Does anyone besides the Amish still pay their bills by mailing in a check??
My insurance company doesn't either. Nor does my mortgage company and if I pay by phone they want to charge me 10 bucks. What a rip.

. . . how the hell am I supposed to remember a check I wrote 3 weeks ago? . . . .
LOL - you youngins  you remember the checks when you keep a log of them - don't you use Quicken to pay the bills :p
Also, I agree with gldtswmn - almost all the people who send me bills want to charge a fee for an online payment. No thanks  but - to each their own

Yep. The whole online trend isn't as big here. We still go into stores to make purchases too, I've not heard of people doing their shopping online.
I do a lot of shopping online, particularly to buy music and movies. Buying music online is pretty much the only option for me because of the artists I listen to. I'll never find a Walter Egan or Billy Burnette cd in any of the shops around here.
For credit card bills, however, I write checks. Whenever I get a statement, I'll write the check immediately and put it in the envelope. Then I write the payment due date on the back of the envelope and keep it until a few days before the date, then send it off. It's just a system that works for me.

 Does someone need to be poured into bed?
Oh yes... and when I got there, I didn't move.....
Oh girl...hope you feel better when you wake up.
Lemme tell you, I feel like ****.
I don't know what posessed me to drink that much, but I spent $80 on I don't know what. Surely to hell I didn't drink it away....

I also do a lot of shopping online. I especially try to do it for people that live out of state because it is so much easier than going to get the gift and then wrapping and going to the post office to ship it, all of which I have to do on foot. I do that when I have the time but sometimes I find a perfect gift online and so would prefer to send that.
I hate being rushed and waiting so online shopping is really great for many things. I do my grocery shopping online through Peapod. Living in the city they are my savior.
I buy online from the Gap and that works well because there's a store down the street if I need to make a return. I also shop Macy's.com, you can get just about anything there, and bananarepublic.com as well as newport-news.com. The latter has stylish stuff cheap.
I still write checks to pay my bills, except for my credit card because I can easily just transfer the funds since my checking is with the same company.

Take two aspirin, have a little something to eat and drink some pop. It'll help settle your stomach.

I'm no doctor but it sounds a bit as if you were hyperventilating? That's the kind of symptoms you get when you don't get enough oxygen in the brain, I think..
Uh.. maybe I should shut up because I'm indeed no doctor and I don't want to put ideas in your head that make no sense.
Hope you're feeling better and that it won't come back.
Maybe that is what it was. It really freaked me out though. It was the middle of the night and I thought I was dying right then and there. I was loking this up last night and it almost sounds like a slight seizure.... I don't know! I'm afraid of doctors so this is not good!

Anyone ever wonder how milk can stay cold for a while, but chocolate milk stays cold for about 3 minutes? o_O
Nope. I don't drink flavored milk. I consider it sacrilegious to put sh*t in an otherwise perfect beverage.

You shouldn't look those things up yourself ;) I think I know the seizure type you're talking about, and I've talked to people with that on an epilepsy-forum.
But that's not exactly how you described it. I just think it's more likely to have been hyperventilating or maybe an upset stomach or something like that.
Meanwhile, my own random thoughts/postings.. ouch, my legs!! In August I'm going to Scotland on holiday, going to do a lot of walking, so I need to train a little for it... walked for 2 hours today (it's nothing, I know :o ) and I know now I need to do more of that!!! Geez, I thought I was pretty fit, cycling everyday to work and so on.
Uh.. maybe there's just not much "and so on".

Heh. I'm not really a fan of chocolate milk, but it's either that, orange juice, or flat Coke. We really need to get stuff to drink in here. -_-
I would've gone with the orange juice.
I have a plastic cup that has water (or something) contained inside so that it can be frozen and keeps your drink really cold without dilluting it. I use it when I drink milk.
'Course, I don't have that problem around here. My dad went shopping and bought ten cases of soda (pepsi, diet pepsi, barq's root beer, and pibb xtra), and about as many cases of bottled water. They were on sale. We already had three cases of soda in the house but we apparently needed ten more.

Lagringa--I had to reply after reading Tuigirls post to you--I am not preaching either--but please be good to yourself! there is only one of you and you are such a pretty person it breaks my heart-you are too young to pine after a jerk--take it from me--I am now in an unhappy marriage of 20 years with a great 15 year old daughter--my hubby was always a jerk but I was "too in love" to listen to my friends and family--I am paying the price now--and wonder for an intelligent woman--how could I be so stupid???
I have to agree with Tuigirl also that it is much more lonely in a crappy relationship than to be alone. You have worked very hard to get this far--take care of yourself :)
Thanks. :xoxo: I'm 50/50 whether to go back or not. All the points you make are really good, but there's something else to consider. A really nice guy might not want to get involved with me. If he's nice and I have a past..:( My bf is definitely not perfect, but he is the only one that knows everything about me and everything I've done and still wants me. I'm not sure the really nice variety of guy would. I will take care of myself, though. I have worked really hard to clean up and get my **** together for the first time in my life, so I don't want to be tempted to go back.
I'm sorry you're in a bad situation. :( If it's not too personal for me to ask, are you going to try to get out of the bad marriage? I hope you can.
