He was the band's bass player for a few weeks, before John McVie decided that quitting John Mayall for the band that was partially named after him was a good idea. But, technically, he's an original member of Fleetwood Mac.

Incidentally, I too vote for Bob Brunning.

Never read the book, but he wasn't in any of the incarnations of FM that I care about... so he gets the boot.

I would vote for Mick, 'cause I REALLY CAN'T STAND HIM, but I'll let him pass this round 'cause he is a founding member (yeah, so is Brunning, but like I said, I don't care about him.)

Well, this chiffonhead thinks it should be Peter Green as number 1 - but La Nicks should be in the top three for without her image, star power, songs, voice, etc., FM would not have lasted this long though it may have lasted in sone fashion. So, she must be high up if importance is any measure.

I'll be happy as long as the winner isn't Stevie (it could even be Mick, whom I despise).

I enjoy a lot of her music, but I think she and her contributions to the band are highly overrated (Just MHO).

(Y A W N ). Why don't we just cut to the chase and have the Rumours lineup in the final five. Er, or just give the prize to Stevie already.

We need to handicap this somehow... perhaps we need to infuse this with NON-Rumours era trivia for immunity challenges. This will give the non-Rumours fans (all three of them  ) a fighting chance.

I've never seen Survivor (I DETEST "reality TV"), but when you announce the loser from this round, pick (hopefully) a NON-Rumours trivia question, and,-the first person to get it right- gets to pick a FM member who can't be voted out in the next round.

IMMUNITY QUESTION

In any case I can't name a single one of his songs off the top of my head... so out the door he goes.

He wrote "Caught In The Rain" & co-wrote "Did You Ever Love Me?" off of Penguin. He was mainly the lead guitarist...and a great one at that.

But, c'est la vie...the Bob Weston Appreciation Society has a painfully small membership...and most of 'em are guitarists.

IMMUNITY QUESTION
Nobody answered Round 1 Immunity Question correctly (in fact, practically nobody answered it at all), so it will be re-asked along with a new question. Any question carried over to the next round is automatically worth TWO immunities.

1. (worth two immunities) On December 6, 1987, during the Fleetwood Mac concert at the Inglewood Forum, Stevie Nicks told the crowd, "I would like to fix that." To whom or what did "that" refer?

2. On October 2, 1983, during the Stevie Nicks concert at the Inglewood Forum, a stuffed cat was thrown onstage. What did Stevie do with the stuffed cat?

I dont know the answer, but a word to whoever answers correctly, giving immunity to Lindsey this early is kind of pointless. Considering he hasnt recieved one single vote. Same goes for Peter Green, Christine, Stevie, Bob Welch. This early on that is. Stevie's clearly gonna need it sooner then other big dogs.

Okay, I think it's safe to say that the next three rounds will see Mason, Bramlett, and Weston go. So, for round three, I vote:

Dave Mason. I LOVE Dave's solo work, and his work with Traffic even more! His work with Fleetwood Mac was really below my expectations. It just didn't compare with his earlier work. Bekka, OTOH, really surprised me with her dynamics, especially after "Shakin' The Cage."

Bekka was only being herself...not anyone else.

While I certainly don't harbor any ill will towards Bekka, when I saw her in concert in Chicago (The Pat Benatar/Fleetwood Mac/REO Speedwagon package deal), she was wearing a top hat, dancing around the stage with a tambourine and bowing to Mick Fleetwood... I didn't even know who she was at the time but I kept wondering at the similarities with Stevie during that performance. So did my brother who is not even a fan.

I, of course, disagree about La Nicks' voice these days - but I must say Bekka gets a bad deal because she, live, stepped into Stevie and CM's shoes and that is a hard order to fill. I think she did a good job there and I also think she is a fine singer on her own. I wish for her sake, they would have allowed her to do her own stuff.

Hey, a talented man is very sexy. But I'm a flesh-and-blood woman and you can bet when I hear Lindsey's bluesy voice on that, I'm going to think "OH, so hot" and it's going to at least temporarily override his daring conventions.

I will say I believe much of Lindsey's guitar playing is very sexual. It's part of his brilliance how he can turn more women on by ramming out the ISA solo than most men can do stripping naked. He's said before that the emotion in his songs is from the music, not the lyrics. One of those emotions is passion, and he conveys it very effectively. Not easy to do, but that's why he's Lindsey Buckingham.

There's a version he does on Largo 1975 that's hot, as well as Japan 1977. They were torrented on dimeadozen a little bit ago and wow, they were some awesome shows. However, Lindsey does seem pretty ridiculous trying to do "Station Man" with the gang in Largo. That's one where it's not happening, and he himself expressed resentment later that he was forced to play it.

I'm one of those "Mason-lovers" (or Masonites, as we're called), and I voted for him, too. In fact, I ran the very first Dave Mason website many moons ago. I love his work. I have all of his solo albums and his Traffic albums. His songs on "Time" were a real let-down. So no apology needed. If "Time" were all I knew about Dave Mason, I doubt I'd consider buying any of his stuff. BTW, you HAVE to get "Alone Together" by Dave Mason. THAT is what Mick was hoping for. (Hey, Lindsey even credits that album as the biggest influence on his songwriting.)

Nobody answered Rounds 1 or 2 Immunity Questions correctly, so they will be re-asked along with a new question.

2. (worth two immunities) On October 2, 1983, during the Stevie Nicks concert at the Inglewood Forum, a stuffed cat was thrown onstage. What did Stevie do with the stuffed cat?

3. This longtime friend & associate worked with Fleetwood Mac as part of the crew on several tours & also provided studio assistance to the band on many occasions. He was known for years as "The Beaver." What is this person's real name?

I think I said that in an earlier post and it was wrong. :(

I'm sticking with: she threw it to Chris or someone else in the band. Or, she hugged it?

The Beaver was either Richard or Walter.

Aren't we in Round 4? I notice people are putting Round 3?
Did I get lost somewhere? :o

Anyway, Round 3 or 4... I'm voting for Dave Mason.
Love "I Wonder Why" (and I actually quite like "Blow By Blow," too), but his contribution to Fleetwood Mac as a whole, wasn't as strong as that of the remaining contenders.

Again, I'm voting for Dave Mason. Great artist, but I think of him more in the context of Traffic and as a solo artist. His Fleetwood Mac stuff wasn't so great for me.

Are you serious? Obviously, Dave was the better guitarist, but then Billy is only a rhythm guitarist. But "In The Back Of My Mind," "When The Sun Goes Down," and "Talkin' To My Heart" kill ANYTHING Dave did in Fleetwood Mac. Now, if we were talking cumulative careers, I'd put Dave over Billy, but in terms of Mac tenure, Billy wins. And this coming from a guy who used to run a Dave Mason website!

IMO Blow by Blow and I Wonder Why kill anything Billy did, ITBOMM is the only thing that comes close. Those other 2 songs suck to me. And heh, I dont even own anything Dave's done outside of Fleetwood Mac, so I am going purely by those two's Fleetwood Mac work, and to me Dave was better. Maybe considering how much I like his Fleetwood Mac work, I should venture out and get his other stuff.

Wow. I'm speechless. I honestly can't disagree with you more, and I'm a Mason die-hard.

Well, if you've never heard his other stuff, you're in for a REAL treat. Now, a lot of his stuff is out of print, but that's okay. I'm going to recommend three albums (two studio albums and one compilation) that will give you a great overview on Dave's career. The first album is Traffic's self-titled, second album. Second is Dave's first solo album, "Alone Together." Both albums are about as close to perfect as you can get. Not a single bad song on either. These albums both received critical acclaim. The third album is a compilation that covers his CBS years, and most of those albums are no longer in print. While the songs that are featured on it aren't necessarily MY favorites from those albums, it's still an excellent place to start.

Traffic - Traffic (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000059T1H/qid=1120369441/sr=1-5/ref=sr_1_5/102-3405233-5669728?v=glance&s=music)
Dave Mason - Alone Together (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002PCX/ref=m_art_li_1/102-3405233-5669728?v=glance&s=music)
Dave Mason - Long Lost Friend: The Best Of Dave Mason (CBS Years) (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002981/ref=m_art_li_2/102-3405233-5669728?v=glance&s=music)

Now, there's an album that is out of print, but can be found pretty easily on Amazon in which you may be interested. It's a one-off he did with "Mama" Cass Elliot. (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000002QX1/qid=1120370292/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl15/102-3405233-5669728?v=glance&s=music&n=507846)
