HI guys came back from the concert
I chickened out and didn't take my phone in because of past experiences, but oh my god I could have snuck my camera right under their nose and that pisses me off...
There was hardly ANY space up in the front (besides for the first two rows of ppl) to shake her hand on edge and that pissed me off as well
I have a list of songs she played, I tried to do this in the best order I can remember (can you believe I forgot already?)
Vanessa by the way I was very impressed with her...it was just her and her piano and she was cracking up jokes the whole time it was great...and I think more of her now as a very good performer and songwriter...
Also, Vanessa did not do any songs with Stevie
List
Outside the Rain
Dreams
Enchanted
Stop Draggin My Heart Around
Rhiannon
Sorcerer
Gold Dust Woman
Stand Back
I Need To Know
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
Circle Dance
Fall From Grace
Edge of Seventeen
Been a long time (and yes folks, she tore the **** outta this song)
Beauty and the Beast
Notes:
- She kept curls in her hair until EO17
- LOTS of twirling, more than I've ever seen her do
- Rhiannon -snore- seriously... except she screamed the I DONT THINK YOU DO like las vegas
- Dedicated HAWEFY to the one.org and talked about it
- Talked about talking to Bonnie Rait, she now knows that Stevie has been singing Circle Dance and was thrilled.
- Gold Dust Woman scream was different (a little bit)
- She told us the whole band has been in GR for a week and she loves it :D
- For all you Sister of the Boob people, there was some tremendous cleavage going on :D
Things I didn't like:
- Security Guards
- No How Still My Love or If Anyone Falls
- The tempo of all the songs were very slow
- Stupid idiot next to me who kept having to pee and making me move (aka beer man)
- She was dancing around a little bit, but during the first half I dunno if she was just sort of uncomfortable, or felt really tired...but she picked it up later...she kinda looked drunk on the video screens
- I didn't bring my camera :(
- Kink in my neck (I had to turn my head to the right to see everything, I was right on the edge)
- Smelled like pot through GDW (how ironic)
Singing wise...her E017 wail about made my jaw drop to the floor...it was kinda like the Saturday Vegas show but she let it out for a loooong time, until waddy changes the chord
I also noticed she kinda started singing a little bit lower in some parts again...
Circle dance I thought was MUCH better with her singing it alone
Studded pants came out in Led Zepplin song, display had psychadelic kalidascope screen...and when stevie goes "been a LONELY, LONELY, LONELY, LONELY, TIIIIME she threw her fist out, it was cute...
And I think the bitch has been losin weight again, she is SOOOOO incredibly skinny...her face looks much thinner than SYW shows
Overall, I give it an A ...best concert she has done in GR in my opinion
Edit: OH, and her new piano player....THE BEST cant remember his name but he was very good.
2nd Edit: And as far as I remember, there were no unicorns

WOW, was her voice able to hand all that rocking (FFG, INTK, LZ, SB< Edge) Im happy we're up to 15 songs now. Anything less seems too short. What about How Still My Love. Not to ask for too much but what about it
stormy
06-24-2005, 11:28 PM
After she sang FFG she said "hmmm...I wonder who I wrote that song about?" and then she pointed to the audience. Not sure what she meant by that. Van Andel Arena sucked. They only let the first row go up and shake Stevie's hand. That was the only reason I got floor tickets was so I could go up for Edge, but they weren't letting that happen.

Awesome details!! This is killin' me!! She's smoking.

I don't believe so. He's been around since Buckingham Nicks. He and Lindsey are good friends as well--he's no Mick Fleetwood in that respect so I don't think he'd be down with the sloppy seconds and sleeping with his friends ex, IMHO.

She introduced the band somewhere in the middle. On GDW towards the end she went up to Waddy and did her gold dust pose(she was covering him up with her shawl like she did on Edge in the Bella Donna Tour), and she stood there for a long time and was crouching down and stuff. It looked really cool. She did her high kick on SB, she did the hula dance on Dreams!

You all just brought something to my attention during the band intro's
Intro to carlos went something like "he was the one person that made sure I was still standing throughout the years, sexy sexy sexy -giggles-"
Intro to waddy was like "the leader of the pack, the man of my dreams -big grin-"
GDW she did like this leaning over the shoulder/humping kinda position while spreading out her shawl...
Stand Back stevie did a funny little thing where she was like "pretending" swatting waddy with her shawl
and I forgot to tell you SHE TWIRLED YAY ....no funky dancin

Vanessa played new songs (that are not on albums) because she is wokring on another album...and they were REALLY good

Vanessa came out and played a song, and then said "Hi, I am Stevie Nicks. Just Kidding". She was really quite funny and she sang really well. She played around 8 to 10 songs I would say.
Stevie looked so tiny. She wore her black reebock shoes through most of the show. She was doing some different dancing--standing there and shaking her whole body with her fists in front of her.

I'm thrilled that Landslide has kicked the bucket. I just wish she would have pulled out one or two rare songs of her own. But I am thrilled Circle Dance remains in the set and HAEWAFY made it in the setlist. I don't know if I have ever heard of the Led Zepplin song but anything new and exciting is fine by me! Been a Long Time Since I Rock and Rolled
It's been a long time since I rock-and-rolled
It's been a long time since I did the stroll
Ooh, let me get it back, let me get it back, let me get it back
mm-baby, where I come from
It's been a long time, been a long time
Been a long, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Yes, it has
It's been a long time since the book of love
I can't count the tears of a life with no love
A-carry me back, carry me back, carry me back
mm-baby, where I come from, whoa-whoa, whoa-oh-oh-hoh
It's been a long time, been a long time
Been a long, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Hoh, it seems so long since we walked in the moonlight
a-makin' vows that just couldn't work right
Haw-haw, yeah, open your arms, open your arms, open your arms
Baby, let my love come running in, a-yeah
It's been a long time, been a long time
Been a long, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely, lonely time
Yeah, hey, yay, hey, yeah, hey, yeah, hey
Ooh, yeah, ooh-ooh, yeah, ooh-ooh, yeah, ooh-ooh, yeah

I don't believe so. He's been around since Buckingham Nicks. He and Lindsey are good friends as well--he's no Mick Fleetwood in that respect so I don't think he'd be down with the sloppy seconds and sleeping with his friends ex, IMHO.
Wow, you just called Stevie "sloppy seconds". I think Lindsey would be cool with it and happy for her. He's married with three kids, so somehow I don't think he'd mind.. It wouldn't make Waddy a bad guy and if he's putting a smile on Stevie's face, I say :woohoo:

Trust me, she rocked out on it. I also thought it looked like she was starting to cry on HAEWAFY. On Dreams I noticed that she said" Women, they still come and they still go", or something like that. I know she used the word still, which was different.
OMG.....FLMAO.....go Stevie.
This crap about Waddy has me baffled. Stevie has known him since 1971! She suddenly looked at married/three kid Waddy and decided he was the guy for her? Sure. Waddy's wife and rugrats were in Vegas, um....four week ago? Where exactly did they go? I agree she is oozzing "being in love" but Waddy ain't the guy. It could not be any more obvious to me that she would never be calling him her "man" if he were more to her than her friend/musicial director/one she turns to for all things band related.

Sure sounds like she was with Waddy at some point to me :
""There was a time when I was falling out of one love and into another, when nothing else seemed to matter except this person. I adored him...he was everything I wanted to be: a real rock and roller ... and a lover of the Stones...small and frail sometimes, but in many ways the strongest person I had ever known. His word was law. I became him ... he became me, and no one dared intrude upon this union. He is no longer with me, but his spirit twin never leaves him. I think sometimes I liked being on stage just to watch him. It was music combined with love, combined with the fact that when Waddy was beside me, I felt completely safe. It is to my great sorrow that we are no longer on stage together, but it is to my great joy that he always seems to be with me, even after all this time."
"Love is a word that some entertain...If you find it, then you have won the game..."
The only thing I'm disappointed about is that "How Still My Love" was dropped from the set. That's one of, if not THE sexiest songs she's done, especially when it's done live. I compare it to Christine's "Brown Eyes" in terms of sex appeal. BUT HEY, we all know there has to be some sacrifices made, RIGHT?! On the other hand I'm totally happy about FFG, BATB, and "Circle Dance" making the cut and the addition of HAEWAFY. I think I'd pay the full price of admission just to See Stevie rock out on "Rock & Roll" in "the pants"! :xoxo:

Thanks for posting that. I knew I remembered that they had been together at some point. I didn't know Waddy was married with three kids at this point (funnily enough, I don't keep up on the details of his life). So, yeah, I entertained the possibility he could be her current guy, but now, I doubt it a little. However, I'm not not entirely sure why people are always so willing to embrace that she and "married-with-3-kids-Lindsey" are getting it on, while she and "married-with-3-kids-Waddy" couldn't possibly be...

I bet she had a recent chat with her friend Ann Wilson, who told her "Sing the Zep song I always sang -- you'll dig it."
Shery Crow did this song as her closer on her C'mon, C'mon tour. In Dallas she had Gwenyth Paltrow come out and sing It's Only Love with her, the song Stevie did on TISL. Then Gwenyth came out at the end for the encore and danced on Sheryl's piano barefoot, when the song was finishing Sheryl got up there with her and they danced and writhed all dirty - it was very lesbo but very HOT!
It was a FABULOUS closer and if Stevie does it half as well as Sheryl or Ann Wilson did it, I'll be very pleased!!!!

if a copy is out there, I will find it...Ya know I have a reputation to keep via bootlegs
Btw, I do have the July 13,1998 Grand Rapids show if ya need a copy, And yes that show is rockin'

Humm, I think Sorcerer and I Need to Know need to go. And while I love Stevie doing new stuff, it's a shame that she's doing two covers, with the amount of material she has to draw from out of her own songs. I also have a few ideas about updating Rhiannon but that's for another thread.

She names Waddy in this paragraph but are you reading what she's actually saying? I read those same words and I don't see her talking about Waddy except for the part where she names him. I guess it depends on what you know about everything else in the mix as to how you interpret this.

EDIT: Also think about the way Stevie talks when you read it and not so much how it looks written down.

Yes they were totally doing it

I thought Boyette was pretty openly gay?
As far as Waddy being married and Stevie doing a married dude....she could be but why oh why would she suddenly make her private life so blatantly obvious? Especially if he were married. Stevie is going to flaunt a relationship with a married man? What is wrong with that picture? Where are all the love songs about Waddy Wachtel? Did she "hit him" on the TiSL tour too when 9/11 happened? The idea of Stevie and Waddy makes the crazy shipper theories look logical. But hey...it sure is a convenient thing for the boards to be theorizing about right now for her. More power to her.....she is one smart chick.
