Ok, I was just thinking about these 2 songs, two of my favs of Lindseys on Tusk. It seems that SMAP always gets the bettter reviews from professional critics that have reviewed Tusk, but I'll tell you, even though I like SMAP, WATL just knocks me out every time I listen to it. What a genius

Save Me A Place is my favorite Lindsey song, so I choose that one. :D

I love all of his Tusk songs, though.

Barf or Spew?
JK - those are my least faves on Tusk. Still good, though, I guess. I agree that Walk a Thin Line is better.

I definitely like Walk a Thin Line more.

Save Me A Place is my least favorite track of Lindsey's on Tusk (right behind Not That Funny of course).

hehe. That's what I was going to say. But I don't like either of them better. I dislike both equally. :woohoo:

I never liked SMAP until I saw the Largo '79 boot with Chris playing guitar & the 3 of them up front singing it. Blew me away. I love it now.

See, I love NTF.. My vote is for SMAP.

Save Me a Place - it just reminds me soooo much of the Negro Spirituals I grew up listening to. The structure of the harmony is so beautiful - I get lost in it!

"Walk A Thin Line" is one of my favorites on 'Tusk.'
The lyrics, Lindsey's lead vocal, the background vocals, the instrumentation, the production... everything is brilliant.
It has a quirky beauty to it, that I find endlessly appealing... and the track comes to a close long before I'm ready for it to end.

"Save Me A Place," on the other hand, is not one of my favorites. By a long shot.

I pick Walk a Thin Line as my favorite of the two songs. Of course it was really weird to hear that song playing at the pub next door to where I work last Friday. I went there to pick up some food before anyone thinks that I am drinking on the job.
Don't you love it when you hear an obscure Mac song in an obscure place?

:xoxo: The live versions are the best, but it's one of the few that works studio or live.

"Don't know why I have to work
Don't know why I can't just play..."

Kind of sums it all up, doesn't it?

I love me some SMAP. I didn't always love it though, it took some growin', but I finally saw the light. I like WATL too, but SMAP is so heartbreaking and I love when he sings it live. I pray they leave it on Soundstage.

I'd pick Save Me A Place anytime.
But It's an interesting comparison: both songs have that threatening whiny side that get's to you if you're open to it. And I must admit: back in 79/80 WATL was my fave of the album for a while.
