View Full Version : Why does Natalie Portman have a shaved head?

LONDON: Natalie Portman says she prefers being bald. The "Star Wars" actress, who has shaved her head for her role in new movie "V For Vendetta" was quoted by Sky News as saying:
"After all the crazy hairstyles I had to endure for the films, it's quite liberating to have no hair - especially in this heat."
"Some people will think I'm a neo-Nazi or that I have cancer or I'm a lesbian."

Although there is a lot of truth in her comment!
Even today a woman shaves her head - or has short hair and automatically her sexuality is questioned....
Interestingly when I had long hair women NEVER hit on me or even gave me a second look - when I chopped it all off?? Bam - got hit on...
This also happend to my straight friend, Shannon who shaved her head and then everyone assumed she was a lesbian
PErhaps her comment was dumb - but it rings true :o

It's true, though. A woman who wore pants back in the day was considered one (just look at Hepburn), and now if a woman has short hair or a shaved head, it's automatically assumed by many that she's a lesbian.

Agreed. I think what bugs me the most about her comment [and why I care is beyond me ] is that noone is going to think any of those things because she's Natalie Portman, so, duh. Well, maybe the cancer part might waft through one's mind, I don't know. Anyway, it just rubbed me the wrong way. In the future I'll try to keep my meandering, impulsive thoughts to myself .

Longoria reaches for the 'Star'
Has insatiable siren Eva Longoria gone to the dark side?
On Sunday night in the South of France, the least desperate housewife was spotted in full canoodle with "Star Wars" stud Hayden Christensen during the party for "Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" at the Cannes Film Festival.
A Lowdown spywitness reports from the swanky restaurant Le Baoli, the temporary satellite outpost of the New York club PM: "She was hitting on Hayden, big-time. They basically spent the whole night talking and caressing each other in a dark corner with security all around them."
Adds the spy: "They were being discreet, but she was holding his hand, and they left at the same time, around 3:30 a.m."
Although the two took care to leave separately to avoid the paparazzi, says the spy, "I'm pretty sure they hooked up."
The 24-year-old Christensen - who evolves from Anakin Skywalker into Darth Vader in the sixth installment of George Lucas' cosmic epic - would be just one of many recent bold-face conquests for the 30-year-old Longoria.

I have to admit, I'm pretty psyched to see it, too. One of the theaters near me is showing it 24 hours straight, so I'll definitely see it. I just saw Episode II in its entirety last night and loved it (except for when Obi Wan picked that dart out of the changeling's neck and said "Toxic dart!" Cripes, I howled with laughter at that).

I love Peter Sarsgaard. I mean he's not bad but I love his performances. His character in Shattered Glass was brilliantly underplayed. I rented out Dead Man Walking just because he played the murder victim, well there was a lot more to that film but when I later realised it was him I had to take another look. In terms of looks, he's probably best in The Center Of The World but performance wise I'd still go with Shattered Glass.I loved him in Garden State and Kinsey.

I thought that movie was fabulous. Mainly because I have a soft spot for anything with Chloe Sevigny (with the exception of Kids and The Brown Bunny, good gawd) and Hayden Christensen was great as Stephen Glass. I've seen interviews with the real Stephen Glass and it's uncanny how much he was like him. Sarsgaard was really good in Kinsey, have you seen it?

I don't know why this particular photo reminded me of it, but has anyone else seen "Life as a House?" I quite enjoyed that little flick.

I liked the house they built, especially that design that they used for it; it really fit the theme of the movie and gave it more depth than it should have. I despised the scene between Kline and the nurse, though, and the ending was too much for me to handle because it was so saccharine. But I wept like a baby when Kristin Scott Thomas went over and hugged Christensen after Kline died and they both started crying. Sue me. :p

I thought Portman looked jawdropping in that scene in Closer at the art gallery. Just stunning. She's a gorgeous woman.

How old is this guy anyway? I like men, not boys and it feels like perving on a child. I say, 55 is an attractive age. Well they need to be above 40 for me to turn my head, or atleast the level of attractivity raises dramatically if they are above 40. Also, people have long been saying to my friend that he looks just like this Hayden guy (who this friend incidently swoons over aswell). It feels like we're all perving on my friend and treating his gangly body like a piece of meat. Well he's a gangly Hayden Christensen. I need to refresh with some Lindsey, ugh, all these boys. So, you don't like to date guys younger than 40? I have a thing for older women, but I'm trying to quit. And Stevie's not helping.

If I dated regularly then yes, ideally over 40. I could settle for less but no boys. Of course it's hard when you don't actually go out and meet people at all.I hear ya. A friend of mine is always telling me to get on the internet and try some dating service. I think not.
